Quaint, authentic Thai place located in East Cambridge. Family owned and operated, I wandered in on a whim was greeted with a kind smile and told to pick a seat. Being that it was at the end of lunch, there were plenty to choose from. I just recently got back from a month stay in Thailand so I already knew which dishes I would try. Som Tum: fresh green papaya salad with tomatoes, string beans, and peanuts in a fresh lime and fish sauce. A staple in a Thailand, and one that I've tried in several cities in the US that just doesn't seem to as authentic. Curry Thai made the best I've had here. Perfection. I ordered it spicy and they made it Thai spicy, which is what I prefer and not some diluted American spicy. Tom kha: coconut and lemongrass soup made with mushrooms and chicken was the right combination of citrus and creamy. There was a lot of chicken in my soup as well and it was the perfect counter to my spicy Som Tum. The waitress was attentive and kind. I ended up staying and working from my laptop and I never felt rushed or uneasy. Would highly recommend and I can't wait to try Curry Thai again!

So torn on this review. The food is good but the delivery is EXCEPTIONALLY slow. 2 hours slow. Twice the amount of time they tell you it will be there slow. Had my clothes been in style to begin with (they're not) they wouldn't be by the time dinner arrived slow. Slow. The food IS pretty good... but with dozens of similar options in the area we are going to consider switching our go to... I always get the drunken noodle, the wife goes for the yellow curry. Can't really go wrong with either.

Stopped in here looking for a simple tasty Thai meal to take back to my hotel. Did not find it tonight. Restaurant inside was not air conditioned, so best for take out or delivery. I ordered the fried tofu appetizer which was ok, but needed a more flavorful sauce and more salt. Good portion size. My go to on the road Thai dish is basil fried rice, extra spicy, and I usually find a good meal. Not tonight. The rice was mushy and did not have that nice curry/spicy flavor. It was hot, but not tasty. The vegetables and onions seemed undercooked. But the biggest disappointment to me was the chicken I requested was absolutely flavorless and unsalted. These chunks were simply tossed on top and heated by the mix. They were not stir fried with spice or onions or anything. Not enjoyable. Also found when I got back that I did not get any plastic ware to eat the food. Simply not good service today!

Came here after kayaking on a hot, hot day. After walking to The Similans, only to realize that it was closed, we walked for an additional half an hour to get here. We saw the so-so reviews but were absolutely famished. The food wasn't bad. It was fresh, but the flavors weren't very complementary. My friends absolutely hated their dishes, which contained curry. They said it tasted nothing like authentic Thai food. I had the drunken noodles, which was topped with crispy chicken. The restaurant itself was very stuffy. The AC was either on fan mode or it was busted, because I was sweating in there. Overall, I can't say I was impressed.

Came here with my family for lunch on Friday. We ordered a shrimp Pad Thai, two duck fried rice, and a Curry Thai sampler, which consisted of 2 spring rolls, 2 shrimp rolls, 2 chicken skewers, 2 wings, 2 pork dumplings, and 2 crab rangoons. I also got a hot Thai tea. The food was good, but the fries rice was a little on the greasy side, but still tasty. The crab rangoons were really tasty, and I think had real crab meat. The service was also fast. I frequently order takeout from this place and the food is consistently tasty and the portions are very generous. Though I usually order fried rice and can't have it too many times in a short period of time without feeling sort of sick because it is a bit greasy. Also their sticky rice with mango dessert is delicious! And is a good palate cleanser after fried rice if you have room!

The guy there barely pays attention to you. He's always on his phone. I have tried different dishes and they are mediocre. I do not recommend this place.

Lunch specials are a great deal! Two apps and a lunch sized portion (limited options). I enjoy their Siam rolls and the Tom kha (chicken and coconut) soup.Their dumplings are on the small side so I prefer the rolls. They always add enough or extra meat to their dishes. I'm never looking for it or feeling sad because there isn't enough! Red curry- I get this the most. The lunch special is great. It's flavorful and I never tire of it ^_^. There is definitely enough to fill me up. Yellow curry-love love love! The dinner portion is huge. I always get it and share with my bf and we make our own rice. The side of rice is never enough! Massaman curry- I've asked to have this spicy but it's always mild. The taste is good but it's on the plain side. There are chunks of potato and carrot + a decent portion of meat. Pad thai- I've gotten this with the wide noodle instead of the regular size. It was ok but was missing something flavor wise. Everything about it is average. I've had it a few times for takeout and it's been pretty blah. Hot basil- ask to get this extra spicy because they WILL do it. Huge chunks of meat and veggies. Drunken noodle-another go to. The noodles are always perfectly done and the taste is great. I've been eating here for the last three years and will continue! Great quality and value.

Ok just had a drunken noodle that was so good that if this had been a Johnny Depp movie I would've had to walk into the kitchen and shoot the chef... it was that good. I mean perfect drunken noodles spicy as hell, perfect amount of basil, noodles still had texture, fucking slap yo mamma perfect!!

I used to love this place. I was a regular customer living in the neighborhood. The food has been getting worse, but it was close so you run with it. I got a terrible bout of food poisoning along with my boyfriend. I stopped by a few days later to let them know and was called a liar. I was taken aback. They said it was not possible and refused to discuss the issue further. I wasn't asking for a refund - I just thought they should know because both my and his order made both sick. I come from a family of restaurant owners so I meant it only out of respect - so they know. Anyways - they chased me out of the restaurant. I'd say just be careful about ordering from here.

It's not DiGiorno, but it is delivery! I was at my friends' place and they wanted Thai for dinner, so I got introduced to their Thai delivery of choice - Curry Thai. They tend to favor the rice plates, which turned out to be the Combination Plates - which, by the way, make no mention of coming with rice on the online menu, but they do! These Combination Plates at dinner time come with your choice of three sides: Siam Rolls (2 pieces) Pork Dumplings (2 pieces) Veggie Tom Yum Soup Chicken Coconut Soup And are priced based on the protein (or veg) of choice: Chicken, Beef, Pork, Tofu, or Vegetable $10.95 Shrimp, Seafood, Duck, or Crispy Chicken $12.95 I was feeling veggie, so I ordered the #14 Eggplant Basil Combination with Tofu since that's the way the dish was described under the Vegetarian Options side of the menu: Sautéed eggplant with onion, peppers, yellow bean curd, garlic and Thai basil. My dish was tasty, the vegetables well cooked - I prefer my Chinese Eggplant on the soft and mushy side - and good amount of it! The portion - sides and all - would surely have fully satisfied my appetite. With the addition of homecooked brussels sprouts and mushrooms, however, I had enough Eggplant Basil and rice for a light lunch the next day. Speaking of which, the Siam Rolls were nice and crisp, and my preferred side of the three I selected. I'd probably do without the Chicken Coconut Soup next time since it just isn't to my taste, but it was fine for what it was with its tangy flavor, floating sliced mushrooms and tender pieces of chicken. The Pork Dumplings were okay too, but nothing special. I'd probably go with a double order of the Siam Rolls and a single order of the Pork Dumplings. We ordered enough to redeem one of their online coupons for a free appetizer (an order of crab rangoon for a $30 purchase). I think there were either 5 or 6 of the thin crisp triangles in the take out baggie. It stood out in its presentation since I'm used to fatter forms of bundling, but it was a tasty version of the Chinese American food experiment. Speaking of deliver, you have a choice - the restaurant can personally deliver, or you can order through Eat24, or Foodler. We ordered direct. (my 800th review - whoa!)

The food is pretty good, so I will give them that. however the last couple times I ordered, they forgot to give me a straw with my thai iced tea, and it was often spilled in the bag. I expect them to be more careful given the nature of the food/drink. but giving utensils should be standard procedure. It was a bit lacking on the delivery aspect, but the food itself was very good, highly recommend their pad thai.

I've eaten in and ordered delivery from here. The food is inconsistent. Eating in experience was good, one takeout was decent, and the other was terrible and super late. Portions were super small all times and they have the tendency to over the few pieces of seafood in your order. There are plenty of better places to order from.

I have ordered here many times (eat-in, take-out, & delivery). The food is pretty good and fairly priced, though I have found the flavor and quality to be inconsistent and the lunch portions are very small. However, the main reason for the bad review is that the Asian guy (owner's son?) who works here is extremely rude. He is the sole waiter/host and even when they're empty, he ignores customers to text on his cell phone. When you ask him for something (or to check on your food that you ordered over 30 minutes ago), he rolls his eyes and walks away without responding. If you complain, he gets defensive and starts yelling at you. If you order delivery, they rarely meet their estimated delivery time--sometimes off by more than an hour. If you call to check on your order after a long wait, the same guy will "cancel" your order without any kind of apology or compensation. (It reminds me of that Seinfeld episode: "No soup for you!") If they get your order wrong and you call to let them know, he will call you a liar and hang up on you.

I've eaten here both in the restaurant, and delivery. Excellent deal - their combo deal includes a main dish with three(!) sides. Sides are done very well, Tom Yum soup is a bit strange, but very good nonetheless. Their curries are rich and tasteful, and portion sizes are great. A little bit greasy. While not the epitome of culinary excellent, Curry Thai is the place to go if you just want a down-to-earth, tasty meal for a good price.

  • Lisa R.

My husband and I used to get takeout here a lot, but then didn't for a long time. The food was inconsistent at times, but always good. We only stopped going here because our habits changed. Then one day when I was home sick I came back to get lunch to go. The soup I got was good, but the entree was obviously leftover and reheated. I was very surprised and disappointed. After reading some of the other recent reviews it seems like Curry Thai has really gone downhill. I don't think we'll be back, sadly.

Not the tastiest thai food, and the lunch specials (at least for takeout) are quite small.

Apparently there are some people that really like this place, but I'm not one of them. Positives first because Yelpers should never aim to crush a place's spirit based on one experience (you know who you are!) : small delivery fee ($2) and low minimum order ($15). Also the food came really hot when delivered. Delivery time wasn't too bad- 1 hour for a Saturday night, though it was definitely a not busy time (4:30pm) Negatives: After getting my food I didn't like my main dish (Choo Chee Curry) and sticky rice so much that I only finished the edamame. The edamame was good after I added some olive oil and chili salt I had laying around. *Update: Downgrade to one star from two because I got sick from the food... Ugh

The restaurant is perpetually empty in the evening, granted it is on a bit of an odd stretch of Cambridge St. While quite small to begin with, they used to have what looked like an office set up on one of the tables in the front which was strange when it was the first thing you saw... It's a convenient place to pick up from, and they deliver for a small fee and reasonable minimum. But, the food is consistently "meh" every time I get take out, and often inconsistent. I love spicy food, and one time the curry was almost inedible, but the next, it was almost bland. There are definitely better places to get Thai, and nearby at that. Service has always been sufficient. It gets the job done when you are hungry, but is by no means a "go-to" for me.

Seriously good Thai food. I'd suggest take out or delivery as the shop is kind of small.

This review is for customer service. I have ordered here through GrubHub some times and the food was good. However, the estimated time GrubHub gives us is not accurate, at least for this restaurant. My order arrived 15-20 minutes earlier and I couldn't answer the phone when the delivery guy arrived. I called the restaurant and the owner was extremely rude, saying it would take another hour to deliver or he could cancel it. I was trying to explain what happened and he kept saying "I will cancel, I will cancel". From the other reviews here, it seems I was not the only one threatened with the cancelation of the delivery. Well, there are plenty of good Thai restaurants and if he doesn't need customers, good for him. Will never order in this place again.

They have good food. Friendly neighborhood place. I was told on phone that all their curries have some fish oil in them. So be careful if you are allergic or don't eat fish. Good portions

Delivery, open late, ethnic food without compromised flavor, and it's cheap?! This place is a godsend to Boston. I'm from LA where I've only had one bad experience with a Thai food establishment. Before coming to Curry Thai, all Thai restaurants I've been to in Boston have been sadly mediocre. Is it because they feel they have to relax on the flavor for the White majority around here? Maybe. The combo plates have enough variety at an amazing price to entertain your palette. If you're eating there, you'll have a cute space with lots of brown hues (the brown wooden furniture and walls) balanced with lots of color from the Thai-themed decorations. Get some peace with culturally-appropriate decor as you indulge in some flavor! The service might not be the best if you need attention every second and your ass kissed, but they were sweet and I was definitely taken cared of.

Ordered delivery and was pleased that all the food was still hot when it got to me despite waiting for an hour (but they told us how long it would be before we ordered so it's all good). Pad Thai- I just had a bite of it, but it was legit. Not too legit to quit, just regular legit. I got the yellow curry with chicken. It came in a HUGE quart-sized container with a smallish thing of rice on the side. For me it was a little too much curry for how much rice was provided, but I like a lot of rice with my food. That being said, this provided me with more than enough for two full meals, and I'm not a light eater. Definitely worth the price for $11. It had a kick to it too, which I appreciated since it did have a spicy pepper marker next to it and I was kind of banking on it being spicy. The chicken was cut up small and was very tender and soft, really good for quick eating so you don't have to cut up huge cubes of chicken. My only gripe with it is I felt it was a little heavy on the coconut milk. The menu mentions it in the description but I felt it was a bit overpowering. We also got an order of Curry Rolls for $4.95 and though they were delicious and crispy, there were only 6 of them, and each of them is about the size of a thumb. A small thumb. I wanted, like, a mountain of thumbs. But I was real hungry by the time the food came.

Food was ok but service wasn't the best... And the place doesn't really look like a restaurant, looks more like somebody's dining room.

Food is adequate, service for delivery is terrible. Waited 2 hours for food that was never delivered. If you must eat here, eat in.

Chose this place for its larger than normal selection of soups. When they say "spicy," they mean spicy! Duck rice dish could have had more duck. Be sure to ask about lunch portions, which also come with rice!

    (3)
  • Dorothy W.

As others have said, their service is quick, their portions are large and their food is pretty tasty, although not as good as The Similans on First Street, which is not too far away. Lunch is the better bargain; you will need an empty pit in your stomach if you are going to finish all of your food. The Yellow Curry is spicy hot and could do with a few more veggies and a little less rice. The Pad Thai is not cloyingly sweet but is very authentic. Can't say the atmosphere is all that interesting, but we often do take out. (Horrible Styrofoam containers.) They take Levelup and the people who work here are very pleasant.

I ordered some takeout food- 2 noodle dishes. It was delicious, perfectly cooked veggies, and just the right amount of sauce! Yum!

Coconut soup is really good. Panang curry is also very good and spicy / creamy. They mixed up the ga prow beef dish but they were very good about catching it and they made a new one. Very small dining area - in a warm / intimate way. Good feel and friendly staff. Also fairly quiet during dinner rush which is nice! Every dish I had was very authentic and tasty. No complaints!

Curry thai is my guilty pleasure. I love ordering thai food from here when we want to eat in. I highly recommend their Pad Gaprow and Pad See You. Their food can be on the oilier side but it definitely hits the spot. Also their food delivery is always super fast too!

I've had a few delivery orders from them now, and they are tied for my favorite with Sweet Ginger in Union Sq. These two are the *only* Thai places worth their salt, I think, in the Cambridge/Somerville/Medford vicinity. Curry Thai totally wins on spice: they are not f-ing around. Delivery usually takes a while but the food does arrive hot. Favorite items: The Pad Gaprow is amazing, as is the Pik King. Tom Yum is, for a refreshing change from the usual, actually spicy and actually sour. They also have surprisingly nice fried apps, which are not usually my favorite. Un-favorite items: Tom Kha is sort of oily and heavy and too sweet here. The jungle curry is boring. Also, I love brown rice, but they seem to always overcook it--maybe it just sits too long? Anyway, they're very good, pretty web-savvy, friendly, and easy to order from.

This amazing Thai place just steps away from my apartment. I will at least visit there once a week. Pad See Ew with crispy chicken and crab fried rice are my favorites! By looking at the crab fried rice, you may think there is nothing in it, because it's pretty "white". But they use real crab, not some cheap substitutes! It just tastes great. For the price it charges, I would say it's as good as it gets. Just the place is a little bit small for a group of 6 or more. :-(

Ordered off the Yelp app for delivery to my hotel. Easy and fast! The delivery itself was quick and they included all utensils and napkins! The food was very fresh and hot! I had the Siam Twins and crab wontons, both were fantastic! Will eat from here again!

OK Thai food but completely and unnecessarily rude, and problems w/ delivery. The latest: Ordered on grub hub @ 5, delivery slated for a reasonable 5:50. suddenly the text says 6:30, and I live 10 minutes away. When I nicely called @ 5:30 (nicely!) to ask they check in w/ their driver the guy says he's canceling me and hangs up before I can say a word. Grub Hub calls and apologizes and gives me a credit. Never again, Curry Thai, never again!

I got lunch takeout from this place and the portions were super generous! The pad thai was good, and so were the drunken noodles and we even substituted the minced meat in Pad Kaprow for squid. The tom yum soup was especially flavorful. The price was also very good, so all in all, we were all satisfied customers. Recommend this place for cheap, good eats!

  • Derek L.

Really tasty dinner special but too small in portion to warrant the price. The chicken coconut soup with the dinner special is tangy and gives a good kick. Their rice could be better or maybe it was just a bad day , kinda soggy. Don't get the pad Thai, the texture or noodle choice was a disappointment but their curry was really good. The owner didn't let me split the bill because he was on the phone and gave sassy attitude (he was really annoying)

Curry Thai was a restaurant within walking distance of our hotel on our recent trip to Boston. The food was tasty, though nothing spectacular, and relatively inexpensive. It's the kind of fare you expect near a college campus. I had the drunken noodles, a favorite Thai dish of mine, and the dish was done well. My partner had the Tofu gaprow, which wasn't tofu at all, but a fake meat made with wheat gluten, and not a very good fake meat at that. I probably should have shared my superior dish with him, but I was mean and didn't. He's gotten over it. The coconut juice drink was lovely.

I ordered from here and the crunchy pad thai was not crunchy and also not that appetizing. The regular pad thai was okay but not stellar. A mediocre place overall.

Small interior (but a pleasant, nice looking atmosphere), not a place for a big group or very comfortable for children. But the best Thai in the Somerville/Cambridge area. Pleasant staff as well. As a vegan there are plenty of options (yes like most Thai) and each dish has a lot of flavor. My favorite peanut sauce in MA! Compared to other restaurants in the area they tend to be balanced towards the spicy (esp. the Basil Fried Rice). When ordering from a new Asian restaurant there is always that looming danger of it being inedible. But I was very happy when I first ordered Curry Thai. Personally I suggest- Pad Thai Basil Fried Rice Fried Tofu appetizer Despite the good reviews here I have read about the drunken noodle, this was one item I considered average tasting on their menu. But my go to for delivery! (to end a high rated review on a positive side note.)

  • Monica B.

I would give Curry Thai four stars if they would reduce the salt in their menu. The dishes, especially the veggie dumplings, the scallion pancake and the soups - especially the Duck noodle and Toms are delicious but all are WAY too salty. The flavors are great and don't need the sodium attack.

    (3)
  • Robo T.

Really good graprow chicken. Moo yang appetizer was too salty though. The place is tiny...and has about 5 tables with uncomfortable chairs and benches. Service was nice and friendly but stretched thin. The waiter was also the dishwasher. Regardless, the main dish was good and I'd try other things. Will definitely go back.

We came here because we were going to a nearby event and I'm glad that we tried it out! The tom yum soup was really good and I got an awesome tofu and veggie dish that was delicious! The older woman serving us was really sweet and our food came out pretty fast too. I'd like to come back to try more of their veggie options and liked that they had so many. It was also nice and quiet even though there were other diners in there and pretty peaceful my boyfriend and I really thought it was a nice date night spot! They don't have beer/wine but we didn't mind because they had other drink options and the food stood on its own merits.

I would have to say definitely one of the best Thai places in Cambridge. Their Pad Thai is AMAZING it is one my weaknesses every time i come here. Their crab rangoon is PHENOMINAL the most authentic i've ever had. Every time i come back to cambridge i always make sure to get something from here. I would also recommend their sweet and sour chicken.

Decent food, BUT when I offered to pay with a credit card on a $9.65 bill they said they would charge me $10 unless I paid cash which I didn't have. Ergo, $0.35 tip. The lesson that $0.35 is more important than a returning customer came through quite clearly.

Curry Thai is a Thai restaurant in East Cambridge. Right off the bat I'll say I've never actually eaten at the restaurant, which is a small dining room decked out with wood (maybe even bamboo) panels and Thai decorations. I can't say how the service is for dine-in, but if it's anything like the service you get at pickup/take-out from the super sweet girl at the counter I'm sure it's great. This place has pretty great food and, even better, it's cheap! Their crispy chicken pad Thai game is tiiiiight. The noodles are good, they have jut the right amount of peanutty goodness and with the crispy chicken with their sweet sauce; and when you can get a combo plate with 2 sides for lunch 3 for dinner (they used to have basically the whole appetizer list but now it's down to 2 types of soup, crispy veggie rolls, or pork dumpling). The drunken noodles are awesome too. I just hope the curse of the failing Asian restaurants at 569 Cambridge Street end here (I can't even remember them all- Wisteria, Unique Food, etc. etc. etc.) It certainly deserves to end here, this place is awesome!

  • Chi-Yin T.

The pineapple curry dish was awesome! Deliciously spicy...my only complaint was the lack of rice. I may have missed it on the menu, but I was under the impression that rice would be included. No worries though, the food was still some of the best Thai food I've ever had.

  • Cathy S.

I agree with Katherine L. that this little neighborhood gem brings top-notch Thai food. Coming from LA this tastes almost like what we got there to me and LA has the most authentic Thai food in the US. I ordered delivery from Mix-menu.com and it arrived sizzling hot just 20 mins after i placed the order (i live in East Cambridge though).

  • Lena S.

Wonderful combination of bizarre and delicious. Awesome wood paneling, hilarious slow jams playing and the place seems to be heated solely by space heaters... It was delightfully strange and the staff was really sweet. The lunch special was a great deal (main dish, soup and spring rolls for $9!) and as a chow fun connoisseur I must say, pretty dang good. Way better thai food then some other un-named more expensive places up the street. Great for a cozy winter lunch, I'll also be getting take out from here from now on!

  • Eric G.

I'm vegan, and they have great vegetarian options. Delicious, authentic Thai food in a great location! Decor and atmosphere are very nice. The service is excellent and the wait staff are very friendly! One of my go-to dinner spots.

Duck Fried Rice is delicious. There is a fair portion of duck and the dish tastes so fresh because it is not over fried. The staff is sweet and the ambiance is nice at night when they dim the lights.

I'm pretty sure I achieved food nirvana last night with my order from Curry Thai. After my first few bites of pad gaprow with chicken, I couldn't contain myself... I texted one of my friends and told him that this should be our new go-to thai delivery. That didn't feel like enough, so I posted it on Facebook to spread the good word... Delicious, cheap, quality Thai. Order now. This was actually the second time I ordered; the first time, I tried their drunken noodles, which were equally fantastic. I can't speak to the other items, of course... and I'm not the kind to judge a Thai restaurant solely on their pad thai. All I can say is: my experience was wonderful, so give it a shot. Also, they are a small place and have free delivery (with no random service charge or anything along those lines), so give them a break if they aren't the fastest to your door... personally, I tend to eat late and their (friendly) delivery guy arrived within 30 minutes of my order.

  • Heather G.

I think the lunch plates are a bit value-destructive. While perusing Foodler, I found this place, which had free delivery, so I thought I'd give it a shot. The lunch plates come with two "sides" for $8.50 or so, so I thought, what the heck? I ordered a vegetable lunch plate, chose my two sides, and then noticed that the page said nothing about rice being included, so I went and ordered a small brown rice to accompany. My food arrived and was a fist-sized pile of veg and a fist-sized pile of rice in a large plastic container. By the looks of the offering, I would say this is probably the biggest margin item in the restaurant industry EVER. To add insult to injury, my order was wrong twice, adding two hours to my lunchtime wait, and I ended up sending it back and getting a refund anyhow. Beware of these entrées - if you order a non-noodle dish, you may, like I did, receive a small pile of the entrée and a small pile of the rice in one of those rectangular containers that all Chinese/Thai places use for takeout...but it'll only be 1/3 full with the entrée. If you want a full order of food, I suggest going for the pad Thai, as I was informed by the restaurant that only the noodle dishes come in a fully-filled takeout container, sans rice.

Best Pad Thai a girl could ask for. They have mastered the perfect noodle.

  • Su-Yee L.

Decently priced and tasty but delivery is very very slow. The drunken noodles ($7 for lunch) were good and had plenty of veggies but there was very little meat. The curry and wonton soup were pretty standard. It's an alright neighborhood thai place but nothing amazing; I'd suggest just picking up the food yourself rather than waiting for delivery.

Found Curry Thai on Foodler and ordered lunch on a rainy Sunday -- and was almost late to work because the food arrived 30 min. late. Foodler estimated 45 min. for delivery and it came about an hour and 20 min. after I placed the order. Annoying. Food arrived not hot -- lukewarm, but I was already in a rush so I didn't heat it up. The pad thai was decent; not the best I've had, but not the worst. Flavorful, not too greasy, and a good amount of chicken. My bf got fried rice and ate it quickly so I'm assuming it was good. We also got fresh rolls -- which were a bit meh. Stuffed with iceberg lettuce and like one mint leaf. My bf referred to them as "rabbit food" and he was not wrong. Dipping sauce was yummy, though. For the price point (cheap -- pad thai was only $6.95), I can't complain too much....but I don't know that I'd order from them again.

Sometimes I feel like I give too many 5 stars, but hey I am a positive guy. This place is a hole in the wall gem and it is right in my restaurant sweet spot - no frills, no fanciness, fresh, authentic food served on the kind of plates you'd have in your kitchen. It's owned & staffed by Thai people, always a good sign. We tried the Thai fried rice, pork larb salad, and choo chee curry. All were excellent, particularly the first 2, and I love going to Thai places that execute flawlessly on the basic staples, which they did. The larb was fresh and succulent, as was the rice, which was welcomingly uncomplex. Go here and eat some real Thai food with real Thai hospitality. Win.

Curry Thai has yet to disappoint me. I usually stick to the Singapore noodles but every dish I've tried (pad Thai & drunken noodles) has been just right. If I were to count the number to times I've been I'd need to borrow a hand or two. Just as a recommendation, if Amy picks up when you call for an order out tell her Mac and Mo sent you. You won't regret it.

This is good Thai food for a good value. No fuss, no mess, no fanciness. If you are hankering for a big plate of deliciousness in the form of carbohydrates, this is the place to go. I always go for the drunken noodle and I always find myself hankering for it at some odd hour. If it's good enough to dream about it's probably good enough to yelp about. Thanks for being there Curry Thai. Note: I recommend pick up for the best experience. I've dined there and really didn't like it as much as eating the food in my own dining room, just FYI.

Waited close to two hours for my tiny order on a sunday night. First, they said its on the way, then when I called a second time the excuse was, "It's Busy"! Portions were so small and not tasty at all. Huge waist of time and $$! All we ordered was lo mein and a couple of appetizers.

Extremely delicious food and great service. Too bad they had a messy appearance at a table near the front door. I think they were using it as a sort of office space. Anyway, the food was great. The coconut chicken soup is outstanding. Similans better watch out!

I give this place a solid four stars. I'm no expert of Thai food, but I thought it was great. The food: - Pad See You was delicious! We asked for it with tofu without eggs. It was great! Yumyum, I had a few bites of it (was my mum's dish). -Tom Yum soup (with veggies) was soooooooo good. I had this for dinner along with some brown rice and it was SO TASTY. I just wish they threw in some tofu or something....also, could've been spicier. -The edamame was good, a bit dry, but I didn't notice much seeing as I just throw it in my soup. -Crispy spring rolls were good, but a bit too greasy for my taste. But the small one I had tasted nice. -The veggie dumplings were so gross. This was the low point of our meal. The people: -I ordered through foodler, so I didn't have much of an interaction with the employees, but the delivery guy was super nice! (Keep in mind I ordered as soon they opened and during a "hurricane"....) All in all, this was a very positive Thai experience! Yay!

i've never stepped foot in curry thai. my roommate was ordering takeout and i jumped in on it. i got the drunken noodles and we also had the free siam rolls (with ~$30 order). the drunken noodles were Good. full container-sized portion -- no skimping there -- good amount of veggies and fried tofu. nicely spicy in a well-rounded homecooked traditional way (not "i spilled a lot of red pepper flakes on your entree are you happy now?" as has occurred with some other experiences of mine in other places). the siam rolls were good but tasted like they'd been fried a little while ago and weren't super fresh/crispy -- i'd like to hope that dining in would change that. also ordered the rad nar for tomorrow, which smelled great. five stars for the drunken noodles, especially for the price point (~10-15/entree) and minus one star for the rolls not being in peak condition, but overall happy. will definitely be back to try out more of their menu, and in person!

I love this place. I live on the other side of the block and I order from them at least once a week. Affordable, fresh and delicious with an outstanding variety. If you eat there, the place is tiny, but clean and they've made earnest efforts to create a cultural ambiance with Bamboo everywhere and Thai music playing. The waitstaff (almost always the same pretty young lady) is super friendly and helpful. Additionally, we order take-out regularly. They almost always say it'll take 45 minutes and it's always been there within 20. Lastly, the restaurant sounds like a Porn Star name. What more could you want? (I would give it 4.5 stars. 5 is just a tough number to give out.)

I loved it! The only reason I'm not putting 5 stars is because my boyfriend says I put 5 stars on all restaurants. I really enjoyed it though! I got the combination Drunken Noodles (which were awesome) and the coconut soup (which was also amazing!) and crunchy rolls (they were okay, John loved them) with it. I thought it was plenty of food! Another review said it was barely any food. I don't know why, I couldn't finish mine! I will definitely be going back again. We dined in, and it was kind of awkward because we were the only ones there, but they were very nice and attentive. They also have The Level Up, so I got $2 off my meal! Yay!

I recommend take out here as the dining room is fairly small. I think more than 15-18 people and it would be packed in here. It has wooden seating with a village feel, but I think take out makes more sense. Most importantly, the food I have tried has been excellent so far including the traditional Pad Thai which is the staple I use to compare different Thai cuisine. Very reasonable prices, especially at lunch time. Quick and friendly service as well.

Really spicy food. The drunken noodle was very spicy. If you cannot handle spicy food, don't try it.

Just to be clear, I am giving this restaurant ZERO stars. I can't comment on the quality of the food because I never actually received it!! I placed an order two hours ago (7:35 pm). Expected delivery was 8:15 pm. When the order had not arrived by 8:45, I called the restaurant and was told that the order was on it's way. 35 minutes later my husband called, and it turned out that they actually had no idea where the order was. We asked them to call the driver and call us back. Another ten minutes go by and they call to say it will be ten more minutes! After some more confusion, the restaurant called me again to ask if I was canceling the order! At that point I lost it on the woman - told her this was no way to do business and that they should not lie to their customers. It is now literally over two hours later, my family has no food, and we just had to order subs from the local pizza shop so we can have dinner tonight (at 10:00 P.M.) If you are looking for reliable service go somewhere else!

The place itself is nothing special but the food is good and affordable. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but it is definitely a good option if one is in the area.

This is a hidden gem. I've been looking for a great, value-Thai restaurant in Cambridge, and this is it. Excellent food -- I've not yet had anything that was mediocre. Good prices. The restaurant is small, so I like to come slightly later for dinner. Great service. This is going to be one of my go-to restaurants for a value dinner.

You know you have hit gold when you walk into a Thai place and note the softly playing Thai pop music and the buddhist temple. The vegetables are fresh and flavors are great. I plan on returning for lunch again soon.

If i could give no star reviews I would. I frequently call for delivery for lunch and dinner. But I waited two hours for the delivery to come. The guy couldn't even bother to call the number they asked for. I had to call them again an hour and half later. Only to find out they couldn't find me. The guy who answered the phone didn't bother to apologize. He didn't know what was going on couldn't even tell me when my food was coming. He didn't even wait for me to tell them not to come. By the time the driver came I managed to buy food from another establishment and eat it. Never had I ever had an experience where they couldn't find an address where they have delivered for. On top of it I gave the business name address and phone number so they could find me. The delivery driver come in with my cold two hour late food expecting me to take the food and sign the charge slip. Hell no. You guys have lost a customer. And there are plenty of businesses in Inman Sq that are nicer and are not jerks.

We ordered from Curry Thai on Tuesday night and, after waiting for our delivery for an hour and a half, called to cancel the order. The woman who answered the phone told me she'd issue us a refund (she did) but that since the delivery driver was already out, he'd deliver the food anyway. The driver was very apologetic when he showed up and was probably just having a crazy night. We didn't expect much from food that had probably been sitting in a car for an hour, but it was really outstanding. The drunken noodles were super flavorful with just the right amount of spice and my husband loved his chicken kra pow. We will definitely be ordering again but will probably opt to pick up the food in the future.

I have never actually been to the restaurant, only ordered for delivery. The freshly cooked, promptly delivered, tasty food keeps me coming back. Everything I've tried has been good - vegetable tom yum soup is delicious, both pad see ew and drunken noodles were very good, and the curry rolls, golden bags and wontons well worth trying. For a while I was getting delivery from different Thai restaurants in the Cambridge/Somerville area but Curry Thai has become my go-to.

This place is great! I ordered dinner on foodler after a looooooooong day @ work and was pleasantly surprised when my grub arrived, piping hot, less than 30 minutes later. The delivery guy could not have been nicer, was super friendly and smiley. The vegetable tempura was crispy and de-lish-which I've never had with delivery. Usually it's all soggy from the steam trapped in the container. Their crab rangoons were the best I've ever had. The massaman curry wasn't bad, I just wouldn't order it again. Definitely worth checking out again, though!

Meh. Not the worst, not the best. I wanted to like Curry Thai, I really did. We're looking for a good thai place close to home, but this just didn't cut it. Ordered for pick-up and it was ready in the 20 minutes quoted to us. Was glad we hadn't eaten in. It seemed overly quiet and awkward (some music, please?), and as another poster mentioned, they have their computer/office set up at the first table you see when you walk in. Weird and not professional in my opinion. And, probably for the winter, they had these weird plastic things hanging over the doorway, so as I walked in, I felt like a car in a carwash. Weird #2. The girl who rang us up, seemed very nice and friendly, which was a plus. The food when we got home, was still hot and it seemed to be large portions, but my Red Curry tasted watered down and was not spicy at all, and just didn't really have much flavor. The veggies in it were ok, but not great (only one sliver of red pepper in like half a gallon of red curry? c'mon) My hubbie liked his Basil Fried Rice, but i tried it and thought it was just ok. We also ordered the Crab Rangoon and the Siam rolls, which seemed like they were out of a frozen bag and then quickly fried. Not handmade or fresh tasting at all. I don't think I'll be returning. Could get mall food-court tasting food at the mall food court for much cheaper.

The worst curry I've ever eaten. It was so watery that it was practically tasteless.

After two very mediocre Chinese restaurants in the same building came and went (hmm...), they've been replaced by at least a passable place. The food is good, portions a bit small by American standards, but that's probably a good thing given how easily I can chomp down on anything curried. Decor is...identical to the last two restaurants that were in this location. Service is pretty good, though not fantastic. It's small enough that if you need anything, you can kinda make eye contact with your server at all times to let them know you need something. I wouldn't go out of your way to eat here, but if you live in, or happen to be in, the neighborhood, it's a reasonable place to stop by.

I just recently moved to Boston from Berkeley, and missed the abundance of Thai food in the Bay Area. Thanks to the help of Yelp-ers, I stumbled upon Curry Thai and ordered delivery via MixMenu.com . While others were charging at least $5 for delivery on top of a minimum order, Curry Thai offered free delivery within a reasonable time frame and yummy food at a great price! Not bad for 1st time luck. The ginger fish was fantastic! I'll definitely make an effort to eat in next time.

Given that Curry Thai is in a spot that has seen a parade of Asian cuisine restaurants come through over the last few years, I admit that I didn't have much hope for this one. But I've eaten here four time since it opened, and have't been unsatisfied yet. The Basil Eggplant is amazing, as are all the curry dishes. The rice portions are kinda small, but that's not a huge problem for me. I am so happy Curry Thai moved in here and I hope it sticks around. I agree with the earlier commenter who mentioned the use of the front table as an "office" space for the staff. I've done take-out a couple times, and this situation made it a bit awkward when waiting for our food that wasn't ready yet. Eventually I forgot about this problem due to the delicious food. Though, they may consider moving their office to a back table.

Excellent food! We ordered online on a weeknight and the food was delivered quite fast by a very nice delivery person. We ordered the pad thai, steamed dumplings and soft spring rolls. All were delicious and fresh tasting. We will definitely be ordering again!

I had the pineapple fried ride and the crab rangoons. I ordered online via grubhub, the food arrive HOT and within a half hour. I loved the fried ride (not greasy), the crab rangoons were crunchy (I like mine a little on the gooey side) but the filling was delicious... there were 5 of them for $5, a little small but I really can't complain. I ordered it as a part of a dinner special so I also got to pick 3 sides: Siam Rolls, Pork Dumplings, Chicken Coconut Soup... all of which were definitely yummy... the soup was really good! No charge for delivery and a free soda for having an order over $15. I will be ordering from there again, no doubt about it.

I wish I had listened to the other reviews. This place may be good to eat-in but DO NOT attempt delivery. We ordered through foodler and after 2 hours just gave up and canceled it. And if you call all they do is lie to you. Do not order from here. DO NOT.

Curry Thai is a new favorite for my lady and I. I love the mango chicken, the dumplings.... and my lady, who is vegetarian, is a big fan of the various tofu curries she's had. Everything has been fresh and felt light and reasonably healthy. I recommend getting 2 orders of rice as their rice portions run a little small, but with 2 orders of rice, one dinner entree, and one app, I get two full, dude-sized meals, and that comes to between $20-$25. I hope they do well and stay around and keep up the great food!

My go-to delivery option in the 'hood, Curry Thai is always quick in sending over hot food after I place my order, which is at least half the battle in takeout. I haven't sampled everything on the menu, but there are several reliably delicious options, and just a few misses: - Som-Tum (green papaya salad): My favorite item on the menu, it turns me into a fire-breathing dragon. In a good way. - Spring Rolls: hefty suckers, but no option for the traditional shrimp filling. - Drunken Noodle: Sometimes well cooked chewy noodles, other times gloppy and overcooked. Fortunately, this is never my order choice, so who cares. - Tom Yum Soup: Delicious and spicy, the perfect cure for a cold. Why can't I order it in a large size? I feel a little silly ordering 3 at once. - Red Curry: Disappointing, no discernible heat level made all the more insulting when you pay an extra $1.50 for rice because it's not included - Roasted Duck Noodle Soup: an entree sized portion, I appreciate the separate containers so the noodles don't over cook in transit. But 4 measly slices of duck is a bit miserly. Overall, I wouldn't be seeking out the food here if it wasn't around the corner but it makes for a solid option for nights when I am too exhausted to cook. I just hope I never have the same delivery person, otherwise they'll think I live in my elephant print PJs.

By house special tofu, it means a tofu variation made from wheat gluten (sort of like seitan). It tastes amazing, however if you want normal tofu just be sure to tell them!

This a cute little family run Thai place in East Cambridge off of Cambridge Street. This is my favorite inexpensive Thai place in Boston. The pad kea mow (drunken noodles) and the red and yellow curries are all fantastic dishes. The only dishes that I would avoid are the pad Thai and yum pla muk salad. I would highly recommend trying this place out! It offers great value!

When we entered this we felt it is quite nice. However our misery starts from here. First of all there was no hosting. Once he came he showed us the table and then kept the silverware as if he was a doing a favor on us. We were waiting for him to come for the order. He never showed up. He served water literally 10mins after we entered the restaurant. But again the glass of water was smelly with all the detergent. He served the food and it was good. But again the service was pathetic to the core. We paid the bill and but did not tipped him. That guy came running behind us for the tip. We said we liked the food but not the service. He then started us to piss us off. He abused us. He even passed all the racial comments and was not leaving us. Ultimately we left as we never wanted a scene in middle of the road. I actually want to give negative ratings but I can't, so just giving one star. I wouldn't recommend people to go there unless they want to hear some racial comments .

Curry Thai has been a great addition to East Cambridge. The restaurant has very good food and a pleasant decor. I have dined in several times, and though the main dining area is quite small, I've never seen it too busy. Mainly, though, I have been getting takeout. As others have noted, their drunken noodles are excellent, and this is my usual dish. Among the many good Thai places in Boston and Cambridge, Curry Thai might have the best take on this dish. Plus, the portion is very generous, and usually lasts me through the following day. Not bad for around $10. My other standard takeout dish is the Pad Thai. It is pretty good, though not spicy enough for my taste, and I tend to prefer the version made by Pepper Sky or by Pad Thai Cafe. I am eager to explore some of the other stuff on the menu.

I've actually eaten here once before, and the food was pretty good. We decided to order delivery from them for dinner one night. Only one problem: the food never showed. I called them after waiting an hour, and was assured that the food was "right around the corner." I called a half hour later (90 min wait time), and again was assured that the food was close. After another half hour (120 minutes) I called again, and was told that the delivery person was "stuck in Boston" and was still 15-20 minutes away. This seemed slightly nonsensical, since I live less than 2 miles from the restaurant in Somerville, but we agreed to wait the addition 15-20 minutes for our food. When the delivery person hadn't shown up 2.5 hours after we had placed our order, I called the restaurant again. They told me they had canceled our order because of the delay. Though we were promised a refund, my delivery.com account (which I placed the order through) does not reflect that. It was pretty shitty of them to put us through that and then cancel our order.

We've done take out from here SOOO many times. and we've only been back in Boston for 2 months, that's how good the food is. unbelievable food. Tom yum soup, just get it. don't ask questions. seriously. When we moved from Tampa, we never thought we would find an affordable Thai take out place again close to our apartment. this place is perfect. Great portions, quality food, fast. They really listen to you, if you say spicy, they make it spicy, if you say not spicy, it's not spicy. I also really like that they don't add too much meat, I don't like it when I order a chicken dish and the whole thing is chicken, maybe that's just me. I just want some chicken and then veggies, they do the proportions just right. If you have a favorite dish from another Thai restaurant, but don't see it on the menu, just tell her what you want, she'll make it, and it will be fabulous, tried and tested on that one.

This place is amazing! I ordered delivery from them for about a year before actually finding their store front. From a delivery stand point, the service was always VERY fast. The restaurant is a pretty small place with fast, friendly service. Better yet, the delivery guy recognized me and treated me to a complimentary dessert. Everything across their menu is good from the apps to the desserts. I love their green papaya salad, too! (Although, it can get SUPER spicy... you've been warned) Highly recommended for delivery or for dining in, super tasty and great staff!
