I don't know how you can go wrong with Chipotle. You just can't. You do have to know how to order. I always get my bowl order with extra rice, and a tortilla on the side (this is the "special order technique"I picked up in college). I had enough to last me two meals actually - but then again, it could depend on your individual ability to eat. I'm sure it's a long way from authentic Mexican food, but the price-portion ratio is good enough to satisfy me.

How hard is it to give me a decent portion? I see them giving me dinky amounts of rice and meat. I get more corn than meat! I always walk away hungry.

I love chipotle so much but this location needs help! The servers are sloppy and too heavy handed making for really really sloppy tacos. Don't get me wrong, I love chipotle but the workers here need better training. Also, their attitude is abysmal. They either seem depressed or stoned -not sure which is better. Once a guy in front of me asked the difference between a burrito bowl and salad bowl and she literally said "no difference." He was still confused bc clearly the corporation went out of its way to distinguish the two... The lettuce and dressing are definitely a thing you get with the salad for instance. It frustrates me bc I really love chipotle and I don't think it's right that these people are acting like this! This isn't McDonalds. Chipotle corporation goes out of its way to be an upstanding company and these workers seem absolutely apathetic.

Chipotle is insanely overrated, there I said it. Its a bastardized Mexican chain. I'm occasionally in the mood for a diaper burrito and their Burritos are the biggest of all the mexican places around. Sometimes you want to feel like your eating a small tin foil wrapped infant, am I right? In Harvard you have three different choices for walk in mexican style taquerias. Felipe's is first, while Qdoba and Chipotle are pretty close. Felipe's meat is definitely ahead and they have refried beans but no nachos. Qdoba has nachos and a sweet bbq sauce that I'm partial to. Chipotle has better white rice burritos- better meat than Qdoba but not Felipe's. Brown rice in Chipotle is a trap, it's rocky every time I've had it. When you want a lot of food this place does the job but I prefer Felipe's when your in Harvard sq. The location is also a little out of the way from the central Haravrd sq. area.

I'm addicted to their chipotle bowl. everything inside a burrito except for the wrap. chicken, steak, pulled pork, all good. black beans, sour cream, spicy salsa, corn, rice. MMMMMMMM!!! They charge an extra $2 if you want guacamole also as a topping which is a bit much in my opinion. $1 is more appropriate. But I still get it cus it's soo delicious. Go try one!

Terrible service and bad attitudes are clearly recurring issues with this location. My bf and I put up with the problems for a long time. But on our last visit a few months ago, I dealt with one girl whose attitude was so bad it didn't just ruin my meal, it put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day. I actually had to complain to Chipotle headquarters. Since then, we've opted for the Central Square location. The fact that there are still so many one-star reviews about bad service coming up says going a bit further has been worth it. It also indicates very poor management. Trust me, you want to stay away from this location.

This is not a review about their food. I've had them before and they are quite delicious. This is more about customer service, in this particular Chipotle. To be frank, the workers are rude. I don't know if the chick behind the counter was having a bad day or what but she sure as hell didn't want to be there and couldn't be bothered taking my order. When another customer stood behind me, she sighed heavily not hiding the fact that she really didn't want to do her job. It was so obvious that the other customer felt awkward and left, and I'm sure I made this worker's day by cancelling my order and also left in disgust. There are other burrito places in Harvard Square with better customer service than this one and just as good. Skip this Chipotle.

Let's be real... burritos are pretty much the best food on the planet. Chipotle has good burritos. This particular location is a solid chipotle compared to some other area ones I've visited. Enough said! Still, not a fan of the $2 guacamole add versus other burrito places in the square.

Slowest Chipotle ever! Some of the staff are nice, but this location is way too slow. Sofritas are delish though. Def recommend it.

  • Vicky W.

Exactly what you would expect from Chipotle, massive burritos and bowls that are a little overpriced. All the workers here are pleasant though which is a plus, although the line oftentimes gets very long. It's also a small area, so seating is oftentimes limited.

Chipotle is a glorious place. Perhaps, the most glorious place in the world. While this isn't my absolute favorite Chipotle, they're pretty good here. A good methodology for evaluating Chipotle is calculating an aggregate score on a scale of 1-5 for the quality of their rollers, the amount of attitude you get when you ask for more rice or more chicken, their willingness to mix up ingredients in a burrito, their ability to remember the fact that you go there 9 times per week, their ability to recognize that you are a member of the Chipotle Farm Team, how busy they are (i.e., how fresh the meat is), the presence of copious amounts of Chipotle-flavored Tabasco, and a couple of other factors. The combined score for this Chipotle is a 4.6, which gives me a total rating of 5 if you round up. Long live Chipotle.

Customer service- non existent. Girl behind the counter cussing when screwing up the guys order in front of me. Due to the error she made on his, she then messed up my order and forgot me, and continued with the next customer. The girl on the line slopped everyone's food into their containers creating a huge unsanitary mess on the counter. The cashier didn't even ring me up correctly. And under charged me which is the only positive thing about this experience. Won't bother getting lunch there again.

I've been frequently going to chipotle for over seven years now for lunch, at some points daily, and I generally love chipotle. I've been to many chipotles all over the country, including the original in Denver. I'm sad to say that this one in Harvard Square is the worst I've ever been to. It's not a one time unfortunate coincidence either. First of all, the staff have no idea how to properly wrap a burrito. By consequence, the burritos are tiny, or they just rip and fall apart. Worst of all, the staff don't seem to care. They look like they want to be somewhere else, and I don't even want to ask them to rewrap the burritos, or add a little bit more rice or cheese, because they evoke more pity then frustration. They just work really slowly like a chain gang, tossing the burritos around carelessly. The last time I went there, they were out of white rice. Not just temporarily as in "hold on, it's coming in five minutes", but completely for the whole day. I have never had this happen in all the years I've been going to other chipotles. Also, their steak is perpetually overcooked, the rice tends to be undercooked. I don't know if this is a management problem, but this chipotle is very disappointing compared to other locations. Chipotle in other places rocks, which is why I don't want to totally give this place one star.

Yes, everyone loves Chipotle... Steak Burrito, have to have every week.. no comment on the environment, kind of shabby, only grab and go enjoy home!

I LOVE CHIPOTLE, but this location's customer service is unreal. They are so unbelievably lazy and rude it's shocking. I've gone to this location numerous times and whenever I go the employees are so slow and just joking around with each other. I'll be waiting in line with no one in front of me or behind me and they just mosey on over and act as though I'm interrupting them. I've often seen a few people behind the counter that don't seem to be employees, but friend's of the employees. They are so rude and so slow they ruin the "chipotle experience."

I just started doing the Slow-Carb diet from Tim Ferriss' Four Hour Body and Chipotle is one of the main reasons keeping to the diet six days a week is so easy. It's essentially Atkins for six days (meat, beans, green vegetables mostly though salsa and guacamole are also cool) and then a pig out day where you can eat whatever you want. The Bowls are a great way to get a tasty fill up without any carbs, and they'll hook you up with a few spoonfuls of beans if you ask. If they were just a wee bit less expensive I'd go five stars.

I love Chipotle. Like, really love it. So I'm reviewing since this is the only one in the greater Boston area so far that's let me down. Maybe it's that the rice was a little too lime-y, or that the salsa wasn't strained in the spoon before serving so I wound up with a very wet and sloshy meal. I was disappointed by both of those things, because... Mama likes her Chipotle. Mama likes her Chipotle very much. But mainly the service was SLOW. About ten minutes start to finish, and there was only one other person ordering. Say what?? My bowl-maker took multiple pauses to call over his shoulder at the staff in the kitchen about inventory stuff. Man, those kids are cool. I almost wanted to join their conversation, but I felt kinda left out just sitting there. I'm always a wallflower in these situations. Then the kid at the register stopped ringing me up midway when a cook asked him how many bags of chips were left, and he just turned around and started counting bags on the shelf one by one. I should mention that his attitude wasn't at all rude, which makes a difference. He was just totally absentminded. So I said "I'm sorry, can you just run my card first?" and he seemed surprised, like he'd forgotten he was supposed to be doing something, and slowly swiped it. Aww. So gentle. I had to reach over the counter to get my stuff because he went back to counting chips right away. (Dude is thorough.) Nice kids, just really need to stay on task. But yeah the soggy bowl. Just... no.

Worst experience at a Chipotle ever!! The customer service was horrible. I could barely hear the girl that took my order and when I would say, "excuse me, I can't hear you," repeatedly, she looked annoyed and barely spoke up. Then, the guy adding my toppings dropped a knife on the floor, proceeded to pick it up from the floor with his gloved hands and then went to touch my tacos again. I stopped him and asked if he could change his gloves first since he had just touched the floor. He refused at first and when I insisted, he was angry and asked someone else to finish making my tacos. They were also out of crunchy taco shells at the start of rush hour for dinner and would not make anymore.

We only went there to try it out because I received a coupon in the mail - buy one and get one free. So why not? Overall it was a good experience. The servers explained the system quite well and the food was good for a fast food joint. I would go again next time I'm in the mood for Mexican and in a hurry.

no problems at all with this place. great food, always fresh, friendly staff, quick service :) It's nice seating outside as well in the summer!

It's a chain. A good chain, but a chain. OK, I really like it. Got here tired from walking all over Cambridge. The food was really good. Naked burrito with carnitas, chicken, beans, tomatoes, you name it... Not at all genuinely Mexican but again, this is Harvard Square and not Guadalajara. Friendly and accommodating staff, most of whom speak Spanish on case someone wants to practice. Compared to Baja Fresh, I miss their salsa bar. However, I had more control over making my salad than at Baja. With the zillion nice places to eat at the Square, I don't know if I'd make this a daily occurrence. Still, in a hurry, tired and hungry, it definitely fills the spot.

I'm a sucker for Chipotle; what can I say? I'm a Colorado girl at heart, and after having been to the first Chipotle (over on Evans Ave. in Denver) several times, I often find myself seeking out different Chipotle locations wherever I go. And this is no exception. I love Harvard Square. I love Chipotle. Hence, it makes sense that I love the Chipotle in Harvard Square. Sometimes they skimp on the rice, which is fine, but it'd be nice if it were more evenly distributed. At any rate, they don't ever judge me when I say "all the salsas"--in fact, they often smile and give me a knowing look, like, "Oh, yeah!" And it's almost always bustlingly busy, which is fun if you want to sit down and people-watch, though a bit off-putting when you're in a rush to leave (a plus and word to the wise: the Bennett bus stop for the 66 and 86 is RIGHT there, and only a few seconds away if you wanna wait for the buses in the warmth of the corridor inside the restauant). All other things equal, this is a solid Chipotle location, and the service is pretty consistent. I'll definitely continue to come here as long as it's open. (Though when I'm in the mood for something other than fast food Mexican burritos... I'll traipse over to Boloco... but don't worry, Chipotle, you'll always be my first love!)

    (4)
  • Morgen B.

I love Chipotle. More than Boloco. I've been to many and this one is not my favorite, because the seating is sparce and a bit awkward. The food is great, anything you get will be good. When I went last, they seemed disorganized and slow moving, and my order got mixed up three times. Really? That's my only complaint, but otherwise its quick, tasty, and under $13 usually. They have outdoor seating, so I'll be back in the spring.

Coming from a girl who absolutely cannot tolerate Mexican food, I was pretty pleased with my first ever burrito from here! I was extremely picky, but the people behind the counter were super nice. I had a chicken burrito without the rice, beans, etc. that other normal people would have gotten. I added guacamole to it as well and either the girl knew I was having a horrible day or she felt bad that I passed on all the other sides because she ended up giving it to me for free. I had it to go, but it's a nice chill place to grab a quick bite.

$1.95 to add guac to my burrito? What's up with the americanized white rice and lack of re-fried beans? I was fiending for a burrito and some bubble tea (gross combo, i know), so it made sense to hit this harvard square location. The employees were friendly (and complimented my hair, fake friendly starbucks style), but I'm not into spending over $7 for a burrito without melted cheese involved. Also, Anna's rolls way better and has the mexican takeout fast food thing down. My first date with Chipotle was my last.

  • Anita L.

Chipotle. Ah Chipotle. Chipotle by any other name would taste as delicious. With its generous helping of savory chicken, super fresh salsas, awesome (if overpriced) guacamole, and its sturdy tortilla wrappers, Chipotle makes a chicken burrito that makes my heart sing...if hearts could sing...which I guess they can't.

  • Aspen B.

Being from Colorado I always seek out and eat at Chipotle's everywhere I go because I know that I can expect a good consistent product at a fair price. They are a little skimpy at this one but with a little asking they will add more stuff. I have been here a few times and will keep coming back!

  • Jared S.

Ugh. Half-way to Felipe's I realized I didn't have enough cash, so rather than walk back to my bank to take out some dough I figured I'd give Chipotle another shot. The only reason I can think of why there were people here is because they too needed to pay with a CC. Or perhaps they are students or tourists that are otherwise too clueless to know any better. Why bother with this place? Firstly, the burrito was rolled in such a way that it was basically spherical and the size of a large grapefruit. Nearly impossible to eat a burrito shaped that way. The steak in the burrito was so gristly that half of it was inedible. Seriously people, do not encourage this kind of garbage. Go to any of the other hundred burrito places within a half mile of Harvard Sq.

  • Jenny L.

PROS: Chipotle is amazing! The food is delicious and environmentally friendly (or whatever the cow campaign is). The portions are also huge. CONS: Sometimes a bit pricey in terms of a burrito. Don't get the chips and guac, it was a good $3 or $4 and I easily could have just bought a large size bag at CVS. Location is a bit far from the T, but it's close to Eliot House. Also, they accidentally charged my friend's card twice once and gave us a free meal (fishbowl thing where they choose one business card a month). Great staff!

  • John L.

My burrito a splode. No really. It a splode. Like what this guy says hrwiki.org/index.php/Vec… Every time I come in here, my burrito eventually turns into a taco salad, as it desperately falls apart as a result of incredibly terrible folding work. Is it general Chipotle policy for the thing to just go phoomph on you when you try to bite into it, turning into the aforementioned salad? Or does that just happen to only me every time? Yes, the flavors are good, but when I'm looking for a burrito, I don't want it to turn into a mushy mess of wackiness. Anna's burritos don't do that, and they make theirs much faster than Chipotle does. It's mind-boggling.

If you want a lackluster, overpriced, mass-produced burrito you've come to the right spot. With all of the great burrito places in the city, why would you come here?!

    (1)
  • Jessie C.

Not authentic burritos - over priced but at least you know what you're eating isn't the weird bits of chicken or meat... I've been a few times when i'm in a pinch, just wish they were cheaper.

Pound for pound healthiest, most affordable, quickest meal that will fill your stomach in Harvard Square and in all likelihood put you to sleep shortly after. Easily wins the oversized American portion contest for mainstream burritos (have you seen Bolocco?) and does it in style (free range meat and pseudo Mayan art pieces adorn the wall, did that artist luck out or what?). The Tobasco options are plentiful, although I wish they would have a greater variety of flavors, and also add some other brands to the mix. How about some neon green Yucateca brand? My go-to here is a veggie burrito with extra guac and lettuce. It's fresh, flavorful and hits you like a tank. This is NOT a smart meal to eat before a class (unless you want to catch up on sleep). One star deducted because I know the same company that makes this fresh burrito also serves mystery meat chick McNuggets, and that simply doesnt sit well with the wholesome, sustainable brand Chipotle embodies. Also these are corporate burritos, the good stuff is found in hidden mom & pop joints in LA or SF.

I love this place! I used to come here everyday when I lived nearby, even in the dead of winter (it is THAT delicious). The rice & veggies are always freshly made b/c this location has so many customers. I get the chicken or vegetarian burrito in a bowl (burrito without the tortilla, served in a bowl). If you've never had Chipotle burritos before, they are AMAZING. The chicken is marinated in a delicious spicy curry sauce, but it's not too spicy. The rice is not ordinary rice - it's freshly made lime- & cilantro-flavored rice. Choose from hot black or pinto beans. I always get the corn salsa (corn kernels, tomatoes, chillies), which is healthy and pretty spicy. The vegetarian burritos come with fajita vegetables. Skip guacamole, cheese, & sour cream, and you've got a great, fresh, healthy meal. I am picky about my burritos (I'm from California)...and Chipotle continues to be my favorite chain. This location is the best Chipotle location I've tasted - it's better than the ones I now have in Cali.

  • Dee P.

As far as chains go, Chipotle is doing it right. They're making an effort to use sustainable ingredients and to educate consumers about why they should care. They try to buy local or organic or both, and meats that have been "naturally raised" (something I thought meant as little as 'natural' but apparently is a real, if recent, designation), so yay! No salsa bar is a bummer, but everything was tasty. My teenager requested this place because he says Felipe's burritos are too small (yes, even the super). He still ate two. *Sigh* so... it added up pretty fast, but there is very little in the way of inexpensive food in Harvard, and this is a solid choice.

Consider this to be a glowing 5 star review for any Chipotle in the entire universe. I'm writing this review on behalf of my brother who is, unfortunately, not a Yelper. Anyways, Kevin A. set out for his first full U.S. tour with his band last week and as a vegan he was very nervous about finding "safe" places to eat while on the road. Well it turns out that Chipotle has a policy of providing free food to touring bands AND they have vegan options. I don't know how appealing it will be to eat Chipotle 3 meals a day but at least Kevin A. will have something to eat and I won't have to worry about my poor vegan little brother starving to death. Basically, all they have to do is find the nearest Chipotle in whatever city they're in and they will be taken care of. This kind of bold and open support for the arts and alternative lifestyles is refreshing and almost inspiring. What's more interesting is that it comes from a chain restaurant, maybe one of the most unlikely sources. Thank you Chipotle for going against the grain.

Impossible to be disappointed if you appreciate corn, pico de gallo, beans, and rice. Good meats, good tortillas, good guac, and great salad options when you need greens. Decor is clean and familiar. Missing my fifth start just because it's not a favorite.

  • Anna K.

This is my first Yelp review, and I am writing this now because I have decided that this is a better outlet than running around my office screaming about how awesome the burrito is that I'm eating right now. Let me get one thing straight, I HATE burritos, always have, I don't have the best stomach for greasy, large amounts of food, and burritos were always an immediate NO FRICKEN WAY GET THAT THING AWAY FROM ME....buuut then I tried Chipotle and it is FRESH and delicious and even the meat is good and doesn't make me wanna puke after. So yes, I love Chipotle.

i like chipotles in general. it's a great concept, reasonably priced and the pork/ beef are tasty. but i had a couple of bad experiences recently. one time the server dumped too much sour cream. and the other time the tomatoes had a strange aftertaste.

  • Anna F.

So aggressively mediocre! I went there b/c I was famished after an intense work out and it was between the gym and the T stop. The selection is abysmal. You can't really customize anything except a choice between pinto beans and back beans. I am used to Boloco where I can order a whole wheat tortilla, brown rice and really anything else I can think of. The burritos are all extra large and not conducive to eating on the go. My burrito started to unravel as I ate it into a soggy mushy mess. Boloco is cheaper, tastier, healthier and affords a reasonable amount of options.

Unusual Laws & Customs Involving the Burrito - Running of the Burritos is a Spanish tradition that involves a large crowd of daring citizens running in front of burritos that have been set loose in a subset of city streets. This custom originates from the transport of burritos between restaurants; youngsters would jump in front of them to demonstrate bravado. Injuries are common as participants may be gored, trampled, or slip in the mess of sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. - The original intent for the coffin was not to protect the body from prowling animals or grave robbers, but to prevent the recently departed from rising from the dead and consuming the burritos of their surviving family. - Burritos were originally thrown at the bride and groom by wedding guests rather than cake, but the practice changed because the salsa left awful stains on the bride's dress and many folks' extended families often complained of allergies to burrito components. - In the Andes, time is sometimes measured by how long it takes to consume an entire burrito. - Burrito Rolling! This unusual British event takes place in the town of Cotswold on the last weekend of May. Competitors chase a burrito as it rolls down a hill, and often this event ends with several parties seriously injured or outrageously stuffed. - It is explicitly illegal to have sexual relations with a burrito in most of the United States. However, no such law has been made in Oregon, Washington, or Vermont. - In ancient Rome, it was considered an auspicious sign of leadership to be born with a hooked nose and a burrito.

It's like, I want to give Chipotle a good review because their chicken tacos are amazing. Their hot sauce is so spicy-good, and I love it when food makes my nose run. But like, on the other hand ... have you ever felt like there was a mogwai who, having just been fed and watered after midnight, was trying to claw its way out of your stomach? Chipotle makes me feel like I'm birthing a Gremlin taco. The jury is out as to whether the hot sauce is worth the pain, but then again, look what the jury did for OJ. One must never trust the jury.

Mexican Grill? This place is about as Mexican as I am. Everything is just as I would expect from McDonald's only more expensive. Incidentally, has anyone ever read the nutritional values on this stuff? 350mg of sodium in the fucking tortilla alone? Sweet fucking mama, I might as well just eat salt packets and call it a day. Hey chipotle- You suck.

OMG I'm so F*&kin' hungry! Well, I have 12 minutes to eat. I better choose wisely. I tried my luck at Chipotle yesterday. Yes, it's been open for probably a year or so and I have yet to set foot in there. Well, yesterday was the day. And, my God! Was it a good decision. I know some people hate cilantro. But, it's in their expertly steamed cilantro lime rice. Gooood! Melissa happy! I got the chicken burrito. It was mighty tasty. And, the salsa it came with was damn fine too. The service seemed okay. The prices a lil high, but I'll def bring my ass back here soon!

Dear Chipotle G., As Emily D. wrote, "I'm a burrito! Who are you? Are you - a burrito - too?" You've come to my rescue for between-class snacks and at 9:55 PM five minutes before closing time. You do veggie, vegan, and gluten-free. Thank you for taking dietary restrictions seriously! I say "gluten allergy" and you take care of it lickety-split. Even during primetime hours and no matter which Boston-area location I'm at, you never act as if it's a pain in the ass. One of your burrito masters begins working his or her magic by immediately banishing the pesky flour tortilla from my sight (and those tortillas represent the only gluten-containing item on the menu!--crispy corn tacos and chips are celiac-safe). Then the old gloves go into the trash and pristinely new ones are donned. My burrito bowl is then carefully carried down the burrito-constructing line, at the end of which it emerges filled with exactly what dreams are made of: steak, steak, and more slightly spicy chipotle pepper adobo steak. Throw in some rice, black beans (FYI to the vegetarians out there: the black beans are vegan; the pinto beans contain meat), greenery, jack and white cheddar blend, and always the $1.95 guac addition--bringing the grand total to $8.90. Other (no extra charge) options include four varieties of salsa, sauteed fajita veggies, sour cream, . . . . What more could I ask for in a fast-food chain? Oh yeah, I could ask for CILANTRO. Luckily, thanks to the rice and guac, you've got that too. heart, Andi P. PS: You should visit Orly M. in Tel Aviv; she misses you.

Whoa, that barbacoa don't lie! Here's what I did: half/half chicken and barbacoa, rice, pinto beans, mild salsa, hot salsa, sour cream, cheese and lettuce. The resulting burrito was meaty, spicy, smoky and very filling. It pained me to leave guacamole out of the equation but I refuse to pay almost $2 for it. That's pretty crazy, you guys. The place was super busy when I arrived but I ordered online so I was in and out in less than a minute. It's brilliant.

First Chipotle experience- verdict. I love Chipotle! It seems like I've been eating a lot of burrito bowls recently. not too sure why, but when Leighann F and I were trying to figure out a Harvard Square lunch option, Chipotle popped right in my head. I got a chicken burrito bowl with lime cilantro rice, corn salsa, hot sauce, lettuce, and black beans. The food was awesome; white meat chicken, flavorful but not too spicy salsa, and lime cilantro rice. I can see people having issues with the rice, because it seems like people either love or hate cilantro. Personally, I LOVE it. Compared to what I've had from authentic burrito joints, I wouldn't classify this as authentic. I'd certainly put it in the same class as Boloco, Qdoba, etc... all delicious but not "real" Mexican food. Only gripe- the food was SALTY. I have a high tolerance for salty food, but this was noticeably too salty. I'm not sure if all Chipotle locations is like this, but I'll certainly try another location and find out.

Screw Anna's, Qudoba, Boloco, Boca Grande, etc, Chipotle consistantly offers fresh and tasty burritos. Trust me, I'm from the city (San Francisco) where super burritos were invented my friend, and the good folks at Chipotle know what they're doing.

I'd like to take a moment to pray...I am giving thanks to the lord because I finally found something I like here. It only took me 3 free burrito days to figure it out and sadly I'll never be back unless all the Ana's and Felipe's of Boston go out of business, (ha! fat chance). Why, why do you have to take one of my favorite flavors and mar it by serving lemon flavored rice and cold cheese. Gag me with a spoon. I wanted to like Chipotle, I really did. It has so many pros: near my house, serves guacamole, smells new inside, serves guacamole. Wow, was I disappointed. Who thought it was ok to have people behind the burrito bar who don't speak Spanish? Chipotle makes great food...if it is located in a mall food court or an airport terminal. If I wasn't stuck within a rock's toss (that one is for you Haquel) of Chipotle I would never go there again. But the salad bowl is pretty tasty. Overall I love their bean mix, and if there is another free burrito day, I'll be sure to check out the other goods before I order. Any spoon that is scraping metal to fill up my bowl means old, old, old food. Case in point: my dried up chicken. But, their guac is good and that is enough to get them a star and I don't have to feel bad dissing them since they are so corporate. But, next time, if it's not free I'd rather watch my friend eat there and then head over to Felipe's.

I went through a phase in college where I'd eat at Chipotle multiple times a week. Having now moved to Boston and discovered a number of better burrito joints (Felipe's, mmm), I barely ever come here, but I figured that I'd toss in a review for Nostalgia's sake. The burritos here, not shockingly, are pretty darn good. The best part is the meat - my favorites are the barbacoa, and the chicken. If you're feeling indecisive, get half-and-half: both are high quality, nicely spiced, and delicious. The other burrito fixings are pretty standard. Unfortunately, the tortillas here are decidedly subpar - doughy and flavorless. On the plus side, however, the burritos are big, and the prices are inexpensive. With the cheaper and tastier Felipe's just a stone's throw away (as well as Boloco and Qdoba, if that's your thing - it isn't mine), I barely ever come here anymore, but if you end up here, you can't go wrong.

If there was a contest bw QDoba, Anna's and Chipotle, Chipotle would win. And this is why: Their burritos are just yummier! They're more involved in recycling and bettering the environment, and to be honest, THEY'RE JUST BETTER! It came down to two things last night. Two reasons why Chipotle wins in my book; the salsa, the extra big Izze bottles. Just those two things alone make the biggest difference. I showed up right before closing and the girls were so nice. One even joked with me about crying over them not having anymore chicken. me: I mean, i'm not like, gonna cry or anything. girl: well that's good because if you cried, then i would probably cry and it would just be a big mess! lol. i love it when staff can laugh. a good sense of humor and the proper connection with your customers will go a long way.

A Yahoo article recently declared Chipotle one of the worst offenders for hidden calories and huge servings. While this might be true, I love that they try to use local ingredients and organic (or at least chemical-free) whenever they can. It's also convenient to where I work. I love taco salads. The first one I got, I loved it. My salad was gigantic, and I was stuffed on corn, beans, avocado, and yummy steak-y goodness. I also loved the lime & salt tortilla chips--which might be one of the perps behind the hidden calories charge, but that sure won't stop me from ordering them when I need to eat a crunchy chippy treat for under $1. They also don't go stale very easily; a bag kept overnight in my work desk without any problems, 'cause I finished them off the next day. When I came back for an update, my salad was so mouth-hot it was totally unenjoyable. Maybe next time I'll try the burrito.

If you like cold burritos go here, if you like too much salt go here. Its just not good. and it could be alot better wiht small adjustments. have the hot items HOT, cold items should be cool, not freezing. Cook the rice all the way, and lay back on salt msg or whatnot, and the burritos would be pretty respectable as far as american burritos go.

Good standard food. Biggest qualm is I wish to go orders had to op-in for a bag instead of opt-out. Would save the business a fair amount of money and save a bunch on waste.

Chipotle being only 8 minutes away is dangerous. The people are super nice. The burritos are as always consistently grand and I cannot eat them fast enough. As Sun Y. Says, "you are not allowed to talk bad about this place."

I have to laugh at the folks getting huffy about this not being good 'Mexican food'. Boston is not a city known for its Mexican cuisine, and from what I have seen, most people here wouldn't know a good taco if it jumped up and kicked them in the culo. Frankly I wouldn't call this place 'Mexican', but rather a place that uses ingredients that are common in Mexico. It's basically Subway with refried beans. Once you get over that mental hurdle, then this place is actually a welcome addition to Harvard Square: you can get a reasonably healthy, filling meal on the go for less than $7. And sometimes, isn't that all we really need?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Chipotle fan in general (grew up in Columbus, OH where a real burrito is hard to come by). And when I decided to come out to Cambridge for school, I wasn't sure how I'd survive without a weekly Chipotle burrito. But since Chipotle arrived in the Square, I've been nothing but disappointed. Maybe it's the summer I spent in San Francisco, gorging myself on delightful burritos in the Mission. Or maybe the Harvard Square store is just lacking (they always seem to have run out of a key ingredient, and are super stingy with the meat). In the end, I still prefer Chipotle to Filipe's (and both to the mess that is Qdoba), but I just find myself eating Mexican less and less.

I just went here before work, now I sit and digest as I write this. To be honest, it was ok. The main problem I have is the always uneven distribution of the contents of my burrito. One bite all salsa, the next all rice. And I definitely asked for cheese which I didn't notice on the burrito at all. The meat and ingredients are quality though. The salsa and hot sauce are good, and there's something about the rice that I just love. All in all a decent over priced burrito. I mean come on, $6.50 for a burrito? If Anna's was closer and I had time I would have headed there and saved half my money.

Nothing like an excess of 1,000 calories to console any and all of our petty human sorrows. Never underestimate the power and magic of a Chicken Fajita Burrito Bowl with guacamole and Chipotle Tabasco sauce. Yum. Fat. Foul. You'll loathe yourself after consuming your entire portion, but the act prior will be the most delicious experience of your life. A Chipotle just like any other Chipotle you've been too, except discovering this specific Chipotle made me deliriously happy beyond words. 5 stars for existing and bringing a piece of fake San Francisco to Cambridge.

I've been a fan of Chipotle since I first discovered it a few years back, and now they're right around the corner in Harvard Square. I like how quick you get your food, considering the burrito-building assembly line that awaits you. And while this one doesn't serve beer yet, I usually grab a Modelo to go with my football-sized carnitas burrito. The burritos here are huge. If they stuffed them any more full, they'd need to wrap them in another tortilla. And maybe they should, since most of the time my burrito explodes before I can finish it. The problem is, at least for me, that they're too big. I don't need a burrito that big, and I'd rather it didn't fall apart on me half-way through eating it. I'd much rather pay $1 less and have a normal sized meal. On top of that, like other people, I find that the ingredients inside are usually not well mixed. The guacamole that I just paid extra for is always on one end and not applied throughout. Honestly, I still love Chipotle, but it's not the best place to go in Harvard Square. If you want a great burrito for a good price, head over to Felipe's a few blocks away. And bring cash, since they don't accept anything else.

I went to Chipotle for free burrito day and was impressed with how efficient and courteous the employees were. The burrito was really good, too! It's more expensive than other burrito places in the area, but the meat is certified organic, and the cilantro-lime rice is yummy. I recommend them if you're looking for a burrito that you can pretend is healthy for you.

I was rather disappointed. I have had worse burritos but I was really not impressed. I might go one more time but to be honest I wasn't too thrilled. White rice a negative, norefried beans a big negative. The hot sauce was hot in an odd way, I couldn't quite figure it out. It was dreadful but hardly good. The place efficent.

Nope. $8.50 for a "burrito"? Great that they patronize local farms. Shameful for selling overpriced wraps. Just cuz it's got beans don't mean it's a burrito.

I went to Chipotle on "Free Burrito Day" and was impressed. I got through the line quickly, everybody was in great spirits, and I enjoyed my burrito. Perhaps, I enjoyed it more because it was free! However, last Friday, I had a bad experience at Chipotle which makes me now question whether I wish to return. I was in line and progressing fairly well. For some reason, though, they screwed up the order and took my burrito out of the line. The woman at the final stage thought that the burrito for the woman in front of me was actually mine. She wrote a note of what was in it for the purposes of cashing out. The woman in front of me, who had already paid, said "Where's my burrito?" There was a moment of confusion. Then, after asking a few people, the woman working the end of the line said "This is yours." She gave the burrito (that she originally thought was mine) to the woman. The woman wanted to make clear that it was a vegetarian burrito and not a chicken one like I had ordered. After asking a few people, the woman managing the line confirmed that it was. So, my question now was "Where is *my* burrito?" It was nowhere to be found. The woman working the end of the line had a bit of a panic as she wondered where my meal was. All of this just seemed to be general frustrations but this is what really irritated me. All of a sudden the guy working the cash register pointed at me and said "You owe me $10 right now." I was a little taken aback. It wasn't the normal customer service exchange I was used to but instead a direct and rude one. I replied by saying that I wasn't going to pay until I actually got my meal (which, incidentally, they had not located yet.) The woman who had her order confused with mine said "I would advise you not to give them any money until they can actually find your meal." The man working the checkout just waved his hand and pointed at someone in the line and said "That's yours over there. Now, give me the money." Frankly, I was really taken aback by all of this and contemplated just walking out right then. At this precise moment, though, someone came from the back (not in the line and no meal that had been referenced as of yet) carrying a burrito all ready and packaged to go saying that it was mine. The woman working the end of the line apologized to me. I went to check out. The guy working the check-out sneered at me and didn't say a word as I paid. I went and sat down to eat my meal. By this time my focus just was to get out of there. I didn't really enjoy my burrito. I was more thinking how I didn't really want to give Chipotle (in Harvard Square, at least) a second chance as a paying customer. I hope this branch is able to settle down and get organized. As a result spots to work should become a bit more competitive and they should be able to upgrade the quality of their staff and service. I am sure that I'm not the only one to have this poor impression. For many, this bad impression will be their first, too.

I tried this place a few weeks ago and could only thing that it felt like I was eating Qdoba. Same options in the same order. But the problem is I feel Qdoba tastes much better. This place isn't bad and I would go back if I didn't have other options but since there is a Qdoba in Harvard Sq I'll be going there first.

I always get the same thing at Chipotle: chicken fajita bowl with cilantro rice, pico de gallo, corn salsa, sour cream, a little bit of lettuce, cheese, and guacamole if I have an extra $1.99 on me. I'm not sure about the burritos here, but that burrito bowl that I just described? Healthy and delish! I like Chipotle, because the servings are always huge, the ingredients are fresh, service is fast, and the people who work here are nice. Although Chipotle isn't the most authentic restaurant to eat at or the cheapest, it's a great stand-by restaurant where you can get consistently good food, quickly. Plus, in comparison to places like Qdoba, Chipotle is way more satisfying.

I won't review the burritos - not sure I have even had one, and I definitely don't want to frequent a chain when there are Olecito's, Felipe's and Boca Grande's out there that really hit the spot when I crave a small football-sized meal shoved in my tummy. I did come here tonight so my buddy could grab a bite, and it seemed like the burrito was satisifying. I assume the reviews above and below go into more detail, so rely on them so why 5 stars? Two words. Mr Pibb Granted, it doesn't spin me off into lustful desires akin to Stan and Francine. But it sure as crap comes close. Things I have everytime I return home to the south: country fried steak and (sausage) gravy sweet tea Krystal Mr Pibb. I miss it so much. I bring back 6 packs in my checked bags. I bribe my friends who come to visit to smuggle me some. Or at least I did Until I saw the Mr Pibb tap at Chipotle. OK, maybe chains can be good. slurp

So...we all know I like Chipotle. But this one wasn't my favorite. Far from it in fact. It's clean, I'll give them that. It isn't nicely laid out, nor is their throughput time very fast. The portions are small and the burritos are more expensive than at other locations (or have they all just gone up in price lately...are we still in a rice crisis?) Thanks for telling me veggies aren't safe unless cooked. Not a terrible experience, but not great, well below Chipotle standard. They really should do it right considering the plethora of options in the area. Why are there no seats in their "patio" area?

A while ago Yahoo had a link to a list of the most unhealthy "fast food" items ever, and the Chipotle chicken burrito made the list. Not surprising, since a burrito is roughly football-sized. No joke. Honestly, I like it. But not enough for me to run around the streets celebrating that they finally opened one in Harvard Square, or to dress up as a burrito on Halloween just to get a free one. I just wish they had a salsa bar like at Felipe's so that I could add more salsa to my liking. And I wish they had more locations so that I don't have to run into people I know every time I go!

I've heard people rave about Chipotle for years. Every time I commented on how good a burrito was at many other joints, someone would wax eloquent on how much better Chipotle was. I felt like I had missed out on a rite of burrito passage. You can only imagine how excited I was when Chipotle opened up so close by. I've walked by every week for more weeks than I care to mention, waiting for the date when it would finally open. I finally went on the night after the grand opening. I liked the prices and the restaurant was spotless. It was all about the burrito though. I took it home, eagerly waiting to put that food baby (those burritos are huge!) in my stomach. I finally bit into it...WOW. I'm a believer. Now I can wink and nod when one of the uninitiated raves about Anna's or Boca Grande and say "Yeah, well..this doesn't really measure up to a Chipotle burrito." It feels good to be one of the initiated.

    1. I dont fancy fast food (with McDonald's chicken nuggets an exception) 2.I dont really fancy Mexican food 3. I hate waiting in line But I love this place. I work in harvard square and I have to admit there are not that many places around my office that have good affordable lunch options. (Au bon pain soup for $4 and sandwiches for $7 are NOT good options). Until chipotle opened its doors recently. I also went to wait in line on opening day for the free burrito. My colleagues went earlier and they raved about it so i had to go check it out, despite staying in the rain for 20 minutes. It's good! I never knew Burritos can be so yummy delicious and SATISFYING. Great great lunch option. I've also discovered their bowls lately, everything in a burrito filling without the burrito. I luv it! All for under $7 for a ultra filling and satisfying lunch, unlike maybe a cold sandwich sitting in the refrigerator for 4 hours?

Now I've always been a huge fan of Chipotle but today made me an even bigger fan. When I went in to order my usual steak burrito they were out of steak for about 60 seconds time. The manager then gave me the burrito for free along with a free drink. Easily the most refreshing customer service experience I've had in years. Thank you Chipotle for restoring my faith in man kind!

Chipotle is just fine. It's a relatively nutritious (although definitely not low calorie) relatively inexpensive fast food option that'll give you a good serving of veg if you want it, but don't come knockin' if you're really craving Mexican food, because that it is not. This particular Chipotle also skimps on the burrito ingredients a little (I had to cajole the girl who made mine into giving me enough tomato salsa to shake a stick at) but it's a consistent, pretty fresh, fast dining experience.

OK, my review may be a little biased, since Chipotle burritos basically fed me for four years of college. But, listen: where else can you get approximately 100 million calories for $7? I grew up in the Boston area and, therefore, Anna's was the gold standard when it came to burritos. When I went away to college it took a little getting used to, but by my second year I was a firm proponent of 'potle OVER Anna's. Yeah, that's right. Here's why: 1.) Anna's is cheaper, but also has smaller portions. The aforementioned price to size ratio is gargantuan and guaranteed to be the cheapest and most filling dinner you'll ever have. 2.) The ingredients are fresh and delicious. I prefer the onions and peppers here to Anna's mix of squash and shit. Also, the guacamole is amazing. The only thing I think Anna's does better is melt the cheese for you. I have had EXTENSIVE experience with both establishments, and I think Chipotle comes out squarely on top. The burritos are a lot like crack. There was a point in my life I ate there once a week, at least. And, please. Don't even insult me by talking about Qdoba.

Disclaimer- I am a huge Chipotle fan. Chipotle has tasty food, good corporate policies, and everything else. I love Chipotle, and it is one of the only fast food restaurants I ever patronize. That said, this Chipotle is TERRIBLE. It is the only location within walking distance of my house, and so I drive miles out of the way to visit more suburban Chipotles. What is so wrong about this Chipotle? The service. After numerous general minor incidents (extremely sloppy burrito assembly, lax sanitation practices, obvious cross contamination between meat and vegetable ingredients, undercooked chicken [obviously did not order after seeing this], ringing up my order separately from my fiance's and then forcing us to buy our burritos separately- just little things), something finally pushed me over the edge: first, I ordered carnitas and was served steak. I had to argue with the server over what I had ordered for some time before she finally tossed the steak back along with considerable amounts of rice/beans. Then, when I finally had a carnitas burrito with my desired toppings, when she rolled the burrito it split all the way along the side. She simply rolled the foil to cover up all the spillage and passed it down the line. I had to then speak to the manager before they fixed my burrito by adding another (cold) tortilla around the whole mess, without any kind of apology. Needless to say, this was the messiest and most disgusting burrito I have ever tasted. The service and sanitation at this location are consistently bad, and I would never voluntarily visit this location again. I'm begging you, Chipotle, fix this location so I can walk to your burritos once more!

$17 for a decent (but unmemorable) carnitas burrito and a boring entree salad eaten at a kitchen counter setup at is just NUCKING FUTZ. It wasn't bad it wasn't good. At least it was clean. I'm proud to say that I resisted eating at Chipotle until this weekend. I'd go back if I was starving and didn't have to paak the caah.

My general disdain for fast-food chains VS. the expired free-burrito coupon sitting in my bag Who wins? my frugal personality and the nice assistant manager at Chipotle who accepted the coupon Carnitas burrito with black beans, guacomole and fresh tomato salsa = B = not bad, mediocre boiled rice was offset by passable salsa and surprisingly tasty shredded pork that was nicely seared and seasoned (thyme and bay leaves - how fancy!), unfortunately, the amateurish wrapping job transformed my burrito into a large dumpling Service = B = fast but poorly executed (you BETTER know how to wrap a freakin burrito if you work in a fast food BURRITO joint) Overall, a pleasant surprise plus they actually promote and use local ingredients so major props for a franchise chain...

it is within great walking distance from campus. the staff has been friendly every time i go. they are generous with the rice (woohoo!) I had a bad rice day and dropped a star. The staff are wonderful. The meat is great. But this burrito was rather dull. And I am surprised because I really like this place. If there was lime or cilantro in the rice, please find it.

In my opinion Chipotle has the best steak/chicken/carnitas around. It always tastes fresh and I've never gotten huge chunks of gristle or stringy fat. Counter-staff are competent, move quickly, and make you a pretty big burrito. I've been to more "authentic" places but the ingredients just aren't as good.

Suprisingly tasty! I had my doubts, knowing this place is a chain (like Qdoba, which is not so tasty), but with it's naturally raised meats, yummy lime-infused rice and beans cooked just right--I'll most definitely be back soon. I'm a diehard Anna's girl, so the fact that my cheese was added more as a topping instead of a creamy, bean-stabilizing base, threw me off a bit. Will need to get used to that. And to have a dollop of guacamole added to my chicken burrito would have cost me an extra $1.75 (whawhawhat?!), but the sour cream was no additional charge. After eating said burrito, it really didn't need the guac, but still--that's big bucks. In all, a well-spent $6.56 for a seriously hearty (and relatively healthy) lunch. Service was super-fast and friendly (muchos gracias to the burrito-maker who warned me about the guac shock). I need to pay another visit or two to Chipotle to see if it merits a fifth star. We shall see . . . Welcome to the neighborhood, Chipotle! P.S. The salty lime tortilla chips are amazing!

I had a bad experience in 2008, but when I finally decided to go back and give it another shot, Chipotle quickly became my favorite lunch spot. I go for the same thing every time, which is usually about twice a week. A chicken fajita bowl (i.e. rice & veg, no beans), the mild salsa and the spicy corn salsa, some cheese and sour cream. It is always delicious, always fresh, and actually relatively healthy. When I want to splurge I occasionally add on the $2 guacamole (ouch!), but most of the time I stick with the old standby. The fresh ingredients and cacophony of flavors keep this meal exciting every time. And the way that the prices come out, I always end up with 93 cents worth of change in my pocket after visiting, which I guess is good for my coin jar? CoinStar here I come, thanks to Chipotle!

If I need fast food on the go, I try to go to Chipotle out of principle. Plus, the burritos *are* very good here. That hot sauce is very good and worth the slight heart burn. The ingredients are always fresh, and the staff are always friendly and efficient. I've been to locations in MA and CA, and they've always been clean and cheerful places. But let me tell you a sad tale about pig tails. I was reading Michael Pollan's "Omnivore's Dilemma" and I was horrified to learn that many large scale pig farms crop pig tails. The pigs (intelligent animals) are so miserable and depressed, stuck in their overcrowded stalls, that they start biting eat other tails off. A healthy normal pig would fight back and make the other pigs stop. But the agri-businesses noticed that many of their unhappy pigs stopped fighting back. The tails would get horribly infected and well, not good for the pig and as a consumer, do you want an infected lunch? So what was the solution? Yes, crop the pig tails close enough to the nerves, that even a nibble from another pig is so painful, that most miserable of pigs will have to fight back. I am not a vegetarian and will never be a vegetarian. But damn you, Babe. I didn't have the heart to eat pork for quite a long time after hearing the above story. I salute Chipotle for trying to source their food, so it's good for the animals, consumers, local farms, and the environment. (If you read books about where food really comes from, you wouldn't need to be some tree hugging hippie to be just plain grossed out and rather disturbed.) I don't know if every single piece of meat there is as natural as they claim, but I can at least go in with a little bit less paranoia. I can finally eat my pork again. No business can be perfect, but I'm glad they try.

Went here for lunch one day to try it out since it was brand new to the neighborhood and I was sorry I had. The spot is in a large shopping center in this mall and looked like it may be good. It boasted healthy selections and large burritos hand made. What it basically was was a bunch of disorganized employees standing behind a counter making burritos like a Subway restaurant, but seeming like a Taco Bell. They make them to order, but they taste like garbage and just arent worth the visit to this spot. M wife and I felt sick the rest of the day and will never go back here again. It was the worst Mexican food I have tried since eating a frozen burrito from a 7-Eleven. Dont waste your time or money. This place is a zero!

Oh thank jesus, Chipotle has come so close to my new home. It's so delicious. It's the basic pick your own toppings burrito place. While it may seem simple, it is so great. Even though it's owned by McDonald's, they use organic products and don't make me feel nauseous after. Personally, I get the veggie burrito bowl (tortilla-less burrito) with rice, the fajita mix (if you're a veg, get the black beans because the pinto have bacon in it), black beans, rice (a must), corn salsa and guacamole. Then, I buy a bag of tortillia chips (ever-so-lighly seasoned with lime) and crush them up to put in the bowl. I know, it kind of ruins the point of not getting a tortilla, but it's so good! And free soft drinks for students! Also, they serve cervezas, if you like that sort of thing. Chipotle is surely a burrito spot I would recommend, way better than Qdoba or anything else.

I want to like Chipotle, hell, I like anything that competes with Anna's Taqueria; however, I cannot in good conscious recommended this place when Border Cafe is less than 100 feet away. The menu is incredibly simple. Start with the filling: beef, chicken, steak, etc. Then choose your style: burrito, hard taco, soft taco, salad, as well as the nonsensical burrito bowl and fajita burrito. Fajita burrito: Meat, rice, peppers, onion, guacamole, sour cream, cheese...if I was at the meeting where they were trying to figure out what to call this contraption I would have suggested a "Burrito with no beans." Granted I'm a dumb consumer, I mean it, MIT and Harvard aside when it comes to people trying to sell me things I fall for all the tricks. Magic Bullet chop-o-matic, yeah I have one. Sham-wow, yeah I have two. I would even buy a snuggie (the blanket with arm holes) if some dude came up to me and had it. However, I am smart enough to know know that if I don't like beans in my burrito I can order it without them. That aside the food just isn't that great. Also, not that you should care, but the inside is all light wood and steel/copper giving it an modern-industrial look. Bottom line: Someone out there likes lime rice? Just walk the two blocks to Border Cafe. If you are too tired I am sure some passerby would be glad to carry you if it meant striking back at Chipotle.

Been there for lunch once. The chairs are uncomfortable and not conducive for wanting a change from my office's scenery. That said, I have been there also for take out. I have only ordered one thing there and that is the Fajita Burrito either with beef or chicken. Both meats seemed a little burnt but I do like my meat well done so I forgive them. The extra hot salsa is a must and very nice.

I am a creature of habit and Chipotle is definitely in my rotation of quick/cheap places to grab dinner to go. I like it better than most other burrito joints because of the cilantro lime rice and whatever they do to the chicken that gives it a kick. I always get the same thing: burrito bowl with fajita veggies, chicken and corn salsa. Then I choose either cheese or mild salsa, but usually not both. The chips and guacamole are also REALLY good but better to get if you have someone to share them with. I couldn't eat them all if I tried and neither the chips or guacamole are that great as leftovers (they're so good, I've tried :))

This place is absolutely dreadful. I joined Yelp solely for the purpose of venting on this issue. I've been to Chipotle three times now--twice to the one in Harvard Square, once in Chicago. First time (Square): Bad. Second time (Chicago): Mediocre. Third time (Square): Terrible. Fool me thrice, shame on everyone involved. Of course, I only went the third time because I received a coupon in the mail for a free burrito. (The second time I went thinking the place might redeem itself.) Here's the deal: they take a nondescript flour tortilla, add some white Uncle Ben's, plain except for what appear to be some flecks of parsley. Then they'll add your choice of grisly beef (good flavor, I'll admit), dry chicken, or NY hot-dog stand veggies (by default, only peppers and onions--not exactly what one thinks of in a veggie burrito). And they toss some sweetened bean gruel on top, as well. If you ask, they'll add some corn (good), hot sauce, salsa, and jalapenos (no longer available raw--don't ask). They also have guacamole, which would have been good by itself. But ice cold guacamole mixed with hot rice and lukewarm meat was a study in contrasts, and not in an especially edible and/or thought-provoking way, except to provoke the thought that I'd be better off not returning a fourth time. Oh, and I neglected to mention the coarsely shredded lumps of cheese that didn't melt in contact with the icy guacamole. Lastly, they will not wrap your burrito properly, so you are guaranteed to end up with the "burrito bowl" whether you ordered it or not. I admire their apparently environmentally friendly practices, and it is this alone that makes me feel somewhat good about the fact that there always appears to be a line of suckers waiting to get into this place (yes, you have to wait in line for this "experience"). Maybe it's just because the Harvard Square outlet is new. My recommendation: go down the street to Felipe's for a burrito twice as good and nearly half the price.

Lots of places for burritos in Harvard Square, but Chipotle is the best. The food is always super-fresh, the staff is super-friendly, and there's usually plenty of seating, either inside or out. Good stuff. I always love coming back to this place.

This review can be easily summed up with yuck. If you are looking for cafeteria tasting burritos you have found the goldmine. This place is SO over-hyped in my opinion. I wasn't a fan when I lived on the west coast and I am even less of a fan now. I even want to say the taste has changed in their move east (anybody else agree?). I would steer clear of chipotle and stick with one of the local burrito joints such as Picante or Felipe's.

You are not allowed to bad talk this place. If you want a burrito as big as a pregnant mother, this is the place to go. The vegetable burrito with lots of hot chili sauce, guacamole, rice, black beans, corn salsa, and lettuce will blow your mind. Really, you haven't lived until you've tried this.

I've had pretty good experiences eating at this place so far. I prefer the steak, but the chicken is also pretty good. I usually get steak or chicken on tacos or burritos. They also make a pretty good salad with a spicy vinigarette. Vegetarian may also be a good option if you're of course a vegetarian, or like me, you just want to get guacamole without paying $1.75 for it. That's about the only bad thing about this place, the guacamole is 3 times as expensive as anywhere else for some strange reason. It is pretty good guacamole, though. One thing I like about the steak is that it's cooked medium-rare rather than well done like most fast-casual places. It gives it more flavor and juice. The chicken has a nice lime flavor and isn't too dry nor greasy. The other meats are OK, but I'd recommend getting either steak or chicken.

i love chipotle. probably a little too much for my own good, to be honest. the staff is really nice (i think its part of their schtick) and their burritos are just delicious. they always stuff the burritos with a ton of food, which usually leads to me over-eating and getting sick, but i keep coming back for more. my boyfriend prefers more "authentic" places (die-hard anna's and boca grande fan) but we can both agree to love chipotle. one word of warning: though their nutrition info is hard to track down, when i finally did i was shocked to see the fajita vegetables they offer for vegetarian burritos are SO unhealthy (clearly soaked in oil, which i guess shouldnt be too surprising). so stay away and ask for some extra corn or tomato salsa to up the veggie content instead.

That's it, I'm doing it: I'm entering the fray of the burrito wars. And I'm casting my vote firmly on the side of Chipotle. I freely admit though that I don't eat a lot of meat so my comparisons are all based on the vegetarian options. My first of many burrito experiences started, as many do, at Anna's. I was hooked. But after awhile the surliness of the staff wore thin - at least let me answer about what I want before you start slopping things on there. So I moved on to Boca Grande. And it was good. And then it wasn't quite as good, I wanted something...fresher. And lo, there was Chipotle. The guac, oh! the guac. It's creamy and has just a slight tang of lime and they make it fresh all day so it's actually green, not a sad faded brown (looking at you, Boca G). I've tried three locations, and the Harvard Sq. one has the best burrito rollers, hands down. Dedham is hit or miss, and Brighton/Cleveland Circle are second-tier at best The tasty ingredients make up for a lot though. I like the hot salsa, although if you're used to a lot of heat (I am) it's not really that hot, but it has a great flavor. I think their pinto beans have some meat in them so I go for the black beans, and I ask them to go light on the rice because sometimes they mound it on there.

Chipotle is an *awesome* place to eat! Here are my reasons: 1. Delicious food. That is some lip-smacking good salsa! 2. Filling food. The burritos are huge. Really, do you need anything bigger? No, you don't. 3. Convenient food. The whole meal wrapped up in one lovely tortilla. 4. Ethical treatment of animals. This is all-too-rare. I admire Chipotle's costly stand to only purchase their meat from farmers with ethics. It deserves our support.

WONDERFUL, !!! i love being there. I love the food, never have I ever received a bad order. Everything is fresh & the costumer service is great. The line or wait is never that bad. they know how to "move" it. I am there 3 days out of every wk.

Biggest freakin' burrito ever. Fast service. Bathroom key attached to a ginormous spoon. I love everything about this place.

They caught me the first day they opened with their free burritos, and even though I typically don't like chain restaurants I have to admit the taste is great. I've had a lot of burritos in my life, and Chipotle's steak burritos are my favorite.

Chipotle is the same here as back home in California. Fast and tasty and cheap. The food is consistent and reliable.

I usually go to Anna's, but I got a free burrito certificate to this place so I decided to try it out. I brought a friend. First of all, as soon as I walked in the feel of the place really put me off. It's so sterile and unfriendly; reminded me of an airport. As we approached the counter (and this took a while b/c there was a slow line even though it wasn't lunchtime), it turned out that you can't pick anything except what kind of meat (or non-meat) you want. What happened to the small whole wheat burritos? Anyway, I got my FREE burrito, a drink and my friend's burrito as well......for $11?!?! Whatever, I was thinking, they should be really good. As we sat down and started eating, I was immediately hit by how spicy it was, and how separate all of the ingredients were from each other (first the rice, then chicken, the guacamole, salsa, etc.) Then it started to come apart b/c there was too much stuff inside. I was really full about half way through it (I usually go for a small elsewhere). I guess it's an okay place if you're really really hungry, or if you want to split one with a friend. Overall though I wasn't impressed, I like choices and a friendly atmosphere (not a concrete/metal jungle with a line). I think I'll stick to Anna's.

I was here the other day and I have to say, their burrito is pretty darn good! I had the chicken burrito with the regular salsa, black beans, lettuce. Great seasoning on the chicken! The nice part was that this burrito was super fresh tasting! Compared to Qdoba, I'd prefer eating here, except there are more Qdobas than Chipotle. Line moved quickly. A friend of mine had the tacos and that looked amazing, so I'm looking to revisit :).

i wasn't sure what all the hype was about the opening of yet another burrito place in harvard square. my usual spot was felipe's, but i was getting tired of their rude service and tiny portions. so...i checked out chipotle, not expecting much difference, but was VERY pleasantly surprised to find a nice clean atmosphere, extremely friendly (and a few cute) staff members, and most importantly - delicous vegetarian burritos! i can't say how "authentic" they are, but they generously pile on the fixins, and include guacamole and all in the price. this is my new "go-to" burrito spot in the square :)

I ducked in here tonight on my way home from work. I had heard a lot about Chipolte and know it had recently open so I gave it a shot. I'm partial to Anna's but Chipolte was good. My burrito was very big and filled with fresh ingredients. Not quite spicy enough for me but I probably chose the wrong salsa. Good effort. Also the place was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. All in all a very good experience and I'll go back.

I don't know why everyone is hating this place, its a good stop if you are too busy to make it to a real taqueria like Annas or Felipes'. Decent selection with good prices. My one problem is that this place is DEFINITELY not LGBT friendly, i went with a very good Lesbian Friend couple of mine and we could feel the snickers coming from the other side of the counter. (they were very overweight, but have slimmed down considerably after going vegan, not sure how this plays into the derision WE ALL felt) All in all this place is probably hit-or-miss, sometimes they would hook it up with extra tortillas etc, but wasn't regular enough to note.

I love Chipotle in general, but at this location the line moves unbelievably slowly. It's painful. Looks to me like they really need to hire more people--one person behind the counter/ringing people up isn't enough even at moderately busy times, and two people back there during dinner time is totally insufficient!

So I work on JFK street and when I got out of work I figured I'd swing by there since I wasn't in a mood to cook dinner tonight... too tired and not feeling well... And because of all of the exciting reviews and hearing about this place from my RadioShack co-workers who get their free burritos, I figured that tonight was the right night. So I walked over in the cold drizzle and went in. The line was pretty big but 10 minutes later I finally walk up to the counter and place my order. It's funny but I kind of felt like I was at subway (ironically I went there for lunch hahah!) but yeah.. they customize your burrito! That's just awesome... I had the chicken burrito with their succulent cilantro lime rice, their black beans, salsa and their mild sauce. Oh and I asked for a dash of guac' and forked over a whooping total of only $6.56. Not bad, not bad. I then rushed on the T and when I got home, a few minutes ago, I devoured it after what appeared to be a really long T ride. I was so hungry. It was delicious. I have no guilt!

No surprises here, Chipotle is Chipotle. The lines at this one tend to be reasonable, but that doesn't preclude me from using their app to order and waltzing in to pick it up. Can never go wrong with a burrito bowl, half chicken and half carnitas, with a side of chips and guac. Given it's Harvard Square location, this place accepts Crimson Cash (money that can be loaded onto your Harvard University ID).

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
