OMG the best pizza I have had in a very long time. We ordered a whole Red Head Pizza for take out. This pizza is some sort of food science. Each bite was the perfect combination of flavors, sweet, savory, and altogether delicious. MMMmmmmm....red sauce, mozzarella cheese, shaved steak, apple-wood smoked bacon, red onion jam, herb roasted potatoes, and horseradish cream. We will certainly be ordering from here again. I just wished they delivered.

Three words. Roasted. Grape. Pizza. Sounds weird as eff, but when combined w butternut squash, rosemary, and ricotta, unbelievable. Crust is slightly buttery. Not the doughiest, but tasty enough. Hella options. Per the menu, they even have 4 vegan options, and while I can't say that "almond milk bechamel" sounds that great...it's paired with roasted sunchokes, so like, who even cares what else is going on. Pizzas start around $14 - and then you can add anything from meatloaf to mango to pickled fresno chilies to roasted eggplant. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

They no longer have Duke of Hazard. So instead I love you Red Head (with a topping of eggs). Piggy's fig is a tad too sweet but figs on a pizza-lovely! allstar meatloaf and all the other meat pizzas are good but nothing compares to duke... Sorry. Parking is still a pain and I wish they delivered.

Am I the only one that thinks their pizza is just Meh? The last time I went was two year ago, so maybe they've improved? I hope so because All Star Sandwich bar is pretty fantastic and I'd love to go to both of them if the pizza bar was better.

Ms. Piggy's Fig....to die for. All my favorite things (fig, prosciutto, goat cheese, arugula, balsamic reduction glaze) on top of a pizza. The price for a pie might seem a little steep ($22) but easily shared among 4 people, which makes it quite affordable. Will be back to try the other options!

An excellent place to stop by for a great slice of pizza! I came here with a friend for a late, casual dinner. All Star pizza bar was perfect because we were each able to order a slice that was quickly heated up and served to us. For $4, I had a large slice (more like 2 pizza slices at most places) of the Veggie pizza of the day, which happened to be a white pizza topped with shaved brussel sprouts, pickled red onions, pecorino, and rosemary. That slice really hit the spot. The crust was thin, warm and crispy, the toppings plenty. I was surprised at how great the pickled onions were; the slightly sour, crunchy onions were a great addition of flavor and texture atop the cheese and more flavorless brussel sprouts. All in all, I'm looking forward to going back and trying additional flavors!

Every time we come up to visit our family in Boston, we try to hit all star pizza bar. They have fun pizza creations that are just the right combinations! Fig and prosciutto on a pizza?? Absolutely amazing!! And the pizzas are huge! Slices almost the size of my head! We usually get two pizzas for four of us! And have enough left over! We could probably just get one to spilt and be fine. But we can never decide on just one kind of pizza to get! So we have to get two!!

I came here while in Boston with a few friends. We stayed in the area, decided to wander and ended up at All Star Pizza Bar. There were five of us, so we split one large pie. Unfortunately with the five of us having such different opinions of food, we ended up with a simple pizza with mushroom, sausage, roasted garlic, and sundried tomato sauce. I wasn't a fan of the sauce, it was too tangy. But the pizza execution was perfect. The crust was the best part. It's such a shame since there were so many options and toppings that I would have wanted to try. They offered three awesome choices for single slices that is different from the typical. Maybe I'll be able to come back and try something different.

Tried the pizza with pulled pork and mango - it was delicious. I would have given 5 stars as the staff were super friendly, they have some good beers on tap and the food was pretty great, but we ate inside and there were a number of random bugs crawling on the inside of the glass above the counter we sat at - not very appetizing and it was also pretty dusty along the window sill. The door was open and it's a small place so maybe that is what led to the bugs...

Finally made it over here for the vegan pizza. I think that maybe I ordered the wrong pizza :( I got The Big Jerk - almond milk béchamel, daiya mozzarella, jerk roasted jack fruit, mango, pickled red onions, fresh cilantro. It was okay, not great. IT really could have used some barbeque sauce or something, was kind of dry. It was also really expensive. I'll try again with another pizza and hopefully update with a better review.

It was pretty good! I would go back there again.

I believe we were craving pizza this one fine day; however, I'm sure we were trying to go to Koreana, which has been quite a feat trying to find parking for the past few months. Anyways, Yelped around and found All Star Pizza Bar! Browsed through the pictures and said, this is something I would eat. The boy let me choose which pizza to get and we got the buffalo duck. A very nice spice and kick to it. Leftovers for the boy to take home as well. Will be back to try more scrumptious flavorings.

My first review of this place had low marks because the sauce, cheese and crust of the pizza I had were pretty bad. But I wanted to try it again since I like the concept they have and I'd like to like them. Unfortunately I didn't like it any better the second time. The only positive is that I figured out what was so familiar about the pizza - it reminds me of St. Louis pizza, with cracker-like crust and mystery (misery?) cheese that tastes frighteningly like Provel (look it up and be scared). Oh well.

I've been looking for a place like this in Cambridge for a while. The thing I miss most about New York City is being able to walk into any pizza shop and know I'm getting a solid slice at a good price. There are plenty of fancier pizza places in Boston but very few do slices. All star does it all. You can get full pizzas with a lot of creative toppings including meatloaf and duck confit. But if you aren't looking to get all crazy they have a simple slice menu. cheese slices and pepperoni slices are the default but you can also get their "funky" slice of the day or their veggie slice. Oh and they have draft beer. This place is a dream.

  • Tatiana L.

So good but SO expensive for pizza and they don't deliver. However, they use top notch ingredients that you don't typically find in a regular pizza shop. If you don't mind picking up your pie or want to grab a quick, quality slice this is the place for you.

    (4)
  • Derek D.

Great pizza, New York style large thin slices, with a crispy base... I'm pretty boring when it comes to pizza and just had pepperoni, however there are some crazy looking topping combos on offer!

I was lerry of this place, and had low expectations for some reason. I was blown away. I only shared a buffalo chicken pizza, but it was probably the best one I have had in a long time. It was not a smattering of franks red hot on chicken. It was an original sauce, which is a rarity around here. I will be back to get more pizzas from here and update my review as I eat my way through the menu.

Friendly pizza joint, quick service and with a very good selection including vegetarian and vegan. There are about 20 seats but the turnaround time is short, parking along the street might be the only issue

    (4)
  • Stephanie J.

THE best pizza around! I love the creative slices they have daily, and the daily slice always includes a vegetarian option! The ingredients are seasonal for the daily special as well, my favorite was last summer they had a slice with strawberries! Also the slices are gigantic! The vegan pizza is AMAZING. The price for a pie is a little expensive but the options in the central/inman area are all expensive and no where near as good.

    (5)
  • Joe T.

SO MANY VEGAN PIZZA OPTIONS! :-) Very delicious The vegan pizza that I got had both vegan cheese, and squash on it. Very cool! I also like the high tables and the small-town-pizza-place atmosphere. :-)

  • Harry H.

Nice enough staffer stood below their sign advertising their 4 slices of the day (otherwise it's pies only, all of which seem to be a terrible deal given the size of that day's slices). Their veg option was alright at best, and the lack of outdoor seating was a letdown. Unimpressed by this joint just even more than we were by the nearby All Star Sandwich Bar. youtube.com/watch?featur…

Veggie and vegan pizzas. Very creative toppings. Also love the alien art on the counter

    (5)
  • Chloe H.

I got a $4 "slice" (available in cheese, pepperoni, meat or veggie special each day!) that was actually equivalent to 2 almost 3 slices. Delicious!!! I ordered it to-go, and they packaged it nicely with two paper plates and a giant brown bag envelope (no need for greasy cardboard boxes :0). Friendly staff, but the counter was way too tall for my short 5' stature so that I had to grab the receipt and sign while tip-toeing ahaha

After an incredibly long day of walking all over Boston, Patrick and the rest of the crew at All-Star helped my friend and I craft the PERFECT pizza as the finale to our day. The pizza was delicious. We split a pizza. As a non-picky vegan, we had a half-vegan cheese and half regular cheese pizza. It was pure bliss! And paired magnificently with our draft beers. With the toppings and customizations we had, I've easily paid $15+ more than we did here. Really reasonable prices, excellent topping selection, and seriously friendly service. The kitchen guys were concerned when I asked to split the pizza vegan/veg as they wanted to make sure cross-contamination wouldn't happen for me. It's great to see people really pay attention to that, but once I explained I wasn't particular, they were more than happy to oblige. Patrick was a delight from the moment we walked in. He was attentive, personable, and customer oriented. He made a traditionally minimal customer interaction (i.e. order at the counter and that's it) establishment an experience for us. Such a treat!! Will absolutely come here again.

  • James L.

Great pizza with a huge variety of toppings. If you're looking for a slice, they offer cheese, pepperoni, "funky", and some type of veggie. I got the funky, which was topped with braised beef, gravy, mashed potatoes, and chives!

  • Josh H.

This place has a great vibe and the pizzas are consistently high quality! The servers behind the counter are kind, cool, and add to the ambiance. I always enjoy seeing the combinations they put on good dough. Brick oven (not wood fired) is in house, and the pies are consistently right-amount-crunchy underneath and soft up top. Always a veggie & Funky option. Today's veggie was great: Baby spinach, sundried tomato, herb They play fun light movies...ghostbusters, Kung-fu Panda, Tom & Jerry (from the various times I've been in) and Darth Vader is lit up as Santa. Fun and not imposing hipster-alternative artwork around! Worth checking out.

  • Chantal G.

For real: Best Pizza I have had in Cambridge. I love the random toppings-- including duck! If you order the pizza by the "slice" it's actually a quarter of a pizza! Sometimes we go in a get 4 slices for ourselves... Saves money!

    (5)
  • Jessica K.

I grab a slice of All-Star pizza far more than I should, and I have never been disappointed. The slices are huge (as in a quarter-of-a-pizza huge) and not greasy. I usually go for a cheese slice or whatever veggie option they have that day (which is never just a standard pepper and onion combo, but something exciting involving eggplant or jackfruit or green pea pesto). I can make a meal out of a slice, which is a pretty good deal for $3 or $4. I don't usually order an entire pie since the slices are quicker and more cost-efficient, but the Miss Piggy's Fig is delicious.

  • Su-Yee L.

I'll admit I didn't try any of the crazy pies this time around (a couple days after their opening) but I was a bit underwhelmed by the pizza we got. We got a pie with sausage, onions, peppers, and mushrooms which is a pretty standard combo, right? What All Star Pizza Bar does differently is that they cook the veggies beforehand so caramelized onions, roasted peppers and mushrooms. Unfortunately, this didn't result in an amazing pizza; I actually prefer a pizza where the ingredients aren't pre-cooked. That being said, the crust was light and thin although not all that crisp and the sauce was pretty darn good. But it can't compare to the original Pizzeria Regina. In the end, I was a bit disappointed and wondered why half the ingredients on the specialty pizzas weren't available a la carte. Not really worth the $20 they're charging but maybe they're still working out the kinks.

    (3)
  • Kevin B.

Awesome pizza great service, but keep the caramelized onions for burgers. Raw onions work best on pizza

    (4)
  • Liliana C.

Oh my god, we had the chile relleno pizza and it was amazing. We'll definitely be back for more. So many pizzas on the menu that look delicious. Extra points for having BBC on tap--nothing like a pitcher of delicious beer to wash down your delectable pizza. Make sure you get here early during busy weekend nights because seating is pretty limited.

  • Jim K.

I dig their pizza. When it comes to toppings, All Star Pizza Bar thinks outside of the pizza box (sorry, I had to go there). For example, they have sunchokes. Familiar with 'em? Get familiar, because they're awesome. I also like that they use unusual cheeses that I have not had the opportunity to try before. Big individual slices, too. Sure, they may cost a buck or so more than your standard slice joint, but these slices provide value for what you're getting and the unique taste. Service is always friendly, the interior has a good vibe if you want to chill and chow, and overall I'd say this place is worth stopping by if you want to check out some new pizza flavors and combinations. Conclusion: This place will give you new experiences in pizza, and that's what life should be...trying new things and opening your mind to more experiences and knowledge.

  • Sal P.

Definitely a fan! All Star does gourmet pizza well - soft chewy thinner crust, not too much cheese, and an excellent array of offerings. Enjoyed the Miss Piggie fig pizza, though it could have used more fig. Loved that they offered sangria, although it could have been stronger... This is a lovely neighborhood joint with a genuine warmth and quality food!

Since Peace o' Pie and Veggie Planet has closed there are few places with vegan pizza . The vegan pizza here is good, not as many options but there is a solid 5 to pick from. My fave so far is The Jerk. Is that named after the movie? That movie was kinda racist. Anyways, that pizza is $24. Pretty much the vegan pizza costs the most here. Also the serve drinks here like sangria and beer. It's a pretty chill place.

Best cheese pizza in the Great Boston area. I can't speak for anything else they have though!!!

    (5)
  • Jasper J.

All Star Pizza is one of my favorites both for the actual pizza and secondly for the value. The slices are always solid with a choice of cheese, pepperoni, "veggie", and "funky". The "veggie" and "funky" are always changing, and make it worth coming back again and again. As far as value is concerned you only need to get one slice, because it is a true New York slice, a quarter of the pizza, but still generally under $5. Go there for a beer and a slice after work or before going out for the night or just because you are driving by or because you read this review. Whatever the reason, you should check out All Star Pizza Bar.

  • John S.

A 600 degree oven plus dozens of interesting toppings over a crisp, perfectly charred crust equals excellent pizza. All Star Pizza Bar may wow the onlookers with the duck bacon and pork belly they toss on their pies, but people should be impressed by the less glamorous parts of their pizza - the crust (structurally sound and delicious), the sauce (sweet but not overpowering) and the cheese. They do all of the fundamentals correctly, which is why they can go nuts on the topping varieties. This is without a doubt the best pizza in Cambridge, and stands strong alongside Posto and Flatbreads as some of the tastiest north of the city. Strong recommendation.

Four words. It will only take me four words to blow your mind. You ready? You're not ready. OK, tighten that strap there. OK. Here goes. Buffalo. Duck. Confit. Pizza. (explosions) Seriously, that's all it takes, and your mind, she is blown. This is an exemplar of some of the custom brain power they are applying to pizza over at All Star. They've got a dozen different pies, all innovative like that, but nothing truly captures how insane, yet workable, these flavors are like BUFFALO DUCK CONFIT. Add a pitcher of Berkshire Brewing Company Steel Rail (on draft) and park your butt on the bench and consume mass quantities. My only complaint is that I wish this place was as large as a viking mead hall. A viking pizza hall. PIZZA HALL.

Best vegan pizza in the city!!! Hands down. I went to a vegan meet up here a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love that they have a vegan menu AND they make their own almond beschamel cheese. The Big Jerk was incredible! The flavors, the mango-ohhh man the mango!-cilantro, onions and jackfruit came together and had a party in my mouth. Please don't ever leave me All Star Pizza Bar, Veggie Planet in Harvard Square has good pizza but you are the fairest in all the land!!

We stopped in to All Star on a whim, and were delighted by the delicious and creative options on the menu. We chose to build our own pie with broccoli rabe, tomatoes, onions, and garlic--delicious! Slices were also generous, and made for a tasty take-home snack. We'll be back!

It was our first time venturing into Inman Square. All Star Pizza Bar was this unassuming place at the corner of Prospect and Cambridge. We walked inside and immediately knew we had chosen the right place. We wolfed down an Artichoke Margherita pizza, as well as a couple pepperoni and cheese slices. We all loved the mixture of flavors and textures. Plus, the staff as incredibly friendly, welcoming and informative. A winner.

One of my favorite pizza joints in the area. The first time I had a slice here, I had a pepperoni and wasn't too impressed but after a friend made me go back I got a slice that blew me away. If only they delivered or even had a service like Picco does where some dude on a bike can make deliveries local I'd be happy.

  • Dan C.

All pizza places are not created equal. There are the cheap delivery places, the late-night giant slice joints, and the unnecessarily fancy spots. All Star combines the best of all worlds into a single pizza bar. Okay, so the pizza to order is the buffalo duck confit pizza. The duck is tender and flavorful and works perfect with the buffalo sauce. The richness of the pizza is cut by the crunch of the celery pieces and the blue cheese. By your powers combined, this is delicious pizza. The pizza is a 16" thin crust cut into some seriously large slices. Two pizzas can leave five people completely stuffed. All the pizzas here run about $20, so you're looking at slightly higher than a cheap delivery place, but you're not going to break the bank on some tiny pie. Also, be sure to check out the specials. Oh, another selling point of this place, beer. They do glasses and pitchers. Seriously though, who doesn't want a pitcher of beer with a pizza? Terrorists, that's who. Bottom Line: Eat it for 'murica.

  • Nicole S.

The pizza here is second to none! I'm not a big fan of thick, greasy pizza, and I have been disappointed in the non-greasy, pseudo-healthy pizzas in the area. That is, until I found All Star Pizza Bar. The pizza here is amazing, with delicious and unique flavor combinations. I would never have thought of any of their pizza toppings, but every one I have tried I have loved. If you are not a cheese and pepperoni fan like me, this is the perfect place to eat!

  • Bill O.

One of my go to spots. Great pizza. Lots of fun and unique varieties. And good beer too! I like that the service is quick.

    (4)
  • Mike S.

$24 for a vegan pizza is completely insane. There isn't anything about the ingredients that justifies that kind of price hike. They're the only vegan pizza game in town and their staff is great so I go there... sparingly. Lower the price to something reasonable and I'd be there twice a week.

Holy pizza pie! All Star has done it once again. Taking one of the simplest types of food and turning it on its head and blowing it up with awesomeness. Pizza is so much more than pizza at All Star's new parlor. The first time I tried All Star Pizza Bar, I was with boring friends who would only eat sausage and onion. I thought to myself "What a waste...". Boy, was I wrong. I was drooling over that sausage and onion pizza. Like slobbering. The onions were perfectly caramelized, the sausage had just the right amount of spice, and dough was the perfect combination of crunchy and chewy. The second time I went for an individual pie. Mind you, they only have one size. Let's just say- I'm a hungry girl. I got to try out one of their specialty pizzas. I went with Miss Piggy's Fig. Again, my stomach purred in gastronomical pleasure. The arugula on top added some much needed freshness to create a completely balanced flavor journey. One a side note: GET THE WATERMELON DRANK! Over the summer they had the most amazing watermelon seltzer or lemonade. Really, all you need to know is that this stuff is the nectar of the gods. Bonus points for having great options on tap. Extra bonus points for a great, friendly staff that makes you feel, not only welcome, but part of the crowd.

WOW! The vegetarian pizza with artichoke, sun dried tomato and pine nut pesto is like- out of control delicious. Service is really friend- nice group of guys that work there. It's not "value priced", but rather you pay for great quality. I can't wait to get another great pizza from there!

It was a cold and dreary day. I had just talked myself into taking the bus to Inman to get some spices at Christina's. Now I was there and realized I was so hungry nothing could happen until I got food. I wandered the streets of Inman like a lost soul. Couldn't go to 1369 -- the line was too long and I had no cash. Bukowski's and East Coast Grill were too sit-down; I wanted something quick. I decided ice cream didn't count, so that knocked out Christina's. I began to despair. Suddenly, there from the other side of the intersection was All Star Pizza Bar. A slice of pizza! That was it! Quick and easy, yet filling! I eagerly crossed the street to enter. A friendly chap asked me my order. Stunned by hunger, I wavered. Yes, he said, they did have slices: cheese, pepperoni, or... their funky slice of the day. What could this be? Turns out: Breakfast pizza. With grits. And sweet potatoes. And maple sausage. And cheese. And hot peppers. And arugula. (By this point I was positively drooling. Had I looked around, I might've seen that they have beers on tap -- delicious, local ones, at that -- but all I could think was ME EAT PIZZA NOW.) I ordered, and he rang me up. I balked at the price -- four dollars for one piece of pizza? Nevermind, it was too late to quibble, I was too close to finally eating. And you know what? When that delicious piece of heavenly brunch-on-a-pizza came, I didn't even pause to admire its large size or quality ingredients. I inhaled that thing just as fast as I possibly could. And I was so, so happy.

This place really lives up to its name. It's a great, clean place with a cool interior, friendly staff, and excellent pizza. Tried one of their daily special slices and it was delicious. Top quality and fresh ingredients makes this place one of the best pizza joints around. I've already decided to rate this place a "5" before I even saw that they also serve beer.

  • Sara M.

Last night I stuffed myself on pizza here, and I couldn't have been happier. We ordered the red head, and she is certainly the new woman in my life: marinara, steak, applewood smoked bacon, herbed potatoes, horseradish sauce and probably other stuff that I cannot remember. The crust is thin but doughy, the best of both worlds. We also split a pitcher of longtrail, so no one here went thirsty! Be prepared to share a table with strangers, and run across the street to All Star Sandwich Bar to relieve yourself of all the beers you drank. But isn't that the neighborhood charm? I love this place and I look forward to trying other pies.

So glad I finally made it here! The pizza here is fantastic - amazing crust, fresh toppings, yummy cheese, and perfectly baked. I can't wait to make this a part of the regular pizza rotation.

Two days out of the hearth and the ASSBar's little catercorner brother has struck flat and crispy gold. I could probably recall the entire menu, stretched wide across a colorfully loaded chalkboard: pizzas in only one size (16"), starting at $14 for plain cheese with a tremendous assortment of toppings for an added buck or two. Seven specialty pies running $18-21 mimicked winning sandwiches (Atomic Meatloaf), breakfeast (Dukes of Hazzard - ricotta grits, maple sausage and soft baked eggs) and new chops flexed with reckless abandon (Buffalo Duck Confit? Sure, why not). Awkwardly strew tables wobble and could use a coat of polish, lest they be forever scarred with tomato sauce. But, really, that's my only beef. Everything else was unreal. Opting for the housemade meatball and charred broccoli rabe combo, we sat for a dine-in, communal picnic, and within 10 minutes, our pizza was served hot, fresh and bursting with toppings. It looked surreal, as if some commercial artist had dollied up a piece of cardboard with paint-added sauce, Play-Doh perfect cheese and meticulously laid out bits of bitter broccolini and braised beef. We tore though our pizza, regularly (and freely) refilling our $2 soft drinks to cool the fiery jaws following their non-stop mission to inhale as much of the wood-fired pie as possible. Watching the cooks pull tray after tray of fresh roasted vegetables from the oven only added to an already stellar experience. Could not believe they were a mere 48 hours from opening. Things to look for: - By the slice? Only cheese and pepperoni... for now. Join me in my Lost-like crusade to correlate their seven specialty pizzas with each day of the week. - Funky and Extra Funky pies, just like the namesake 'wiches on yonder. - Not delivery. Spoke with the owner and they have zero interest in hiring drivers and runner. Pick up is fine, and totally worth it. You like beer? They can haz it, at a rock solid $5 per pint. Go ASPBar!

  • Allison R.

All right, sorry. But I don't love the All-Star Pizza Bar. Here's what's wrong: First, the price. $18-$20 for a 16" pie? Come on! Second, the crust. I wanted it to be crunchier. Third, lack of sides. No salads, even, on offer. Fourth, didn't appreciate the bones on the duck confit pizza. Similar to the sandwich outpost across the street, I think this place is overpriced (although ingredients are clearly good quality) and underwhelming. But I feel the need to apologize, so again, sorry. :/

Very good pizza. Always get the cheese. Very nice texture. Heats up very well the next day as well. Have never eaten in-but they also have beer (and wine I think). Which is nice to sip on while waiting for your order!

Not a bad place to grab a quick slice of pizza during your lunch break, the pizza wasn't bad and there was a friendly staff. Not a destination pizza places, but not bad if your in the area.

Good lord! Delicious. We had the Miss Piggy's Fig on April 28, 2012, at what I *think* was the soft-opening, when I started writing this review. I've been back several times since, I've had the Piggy Fig again since, still delicious. A little pricey, but my god, they use incredibly innovative (and probably also expensive) ingredients-- duck confit? garlic confit? Anyway. Don't miss this place. They also have some beers on tap and pitchers are reasonable.

I've lived in the neighborhood for quite a while, and I remember the barely occupied pizza place that was there before All Star Pizza Bar. The owners of the previous place may have thought that pizza was just not popular in the area, but ASPB proved them wrong! ASPB has a very friendly atmosphere, a wonderfully tempting menu, and even has beer on tap. The last time I visited, I opted to go for a slice of their "funky" pizza and a slice of their veggie. I assumed I'd like the funky more since, well, applewood smoked bacon makes everything great, but I was surprised to find that the veggie pizza with artichokes, onions, and some kind of soft cheese e.g. goat cheese or feta (it was a month or two ago, sorry I don't remember) was absolutely delicious. My happiness was only increased by the size of their single slices (1/4 pizza that day!). When I'm in the mood for pizza, there is now only one place that I will consider.

When it's hot, it's great. Nice big wide slices. It's nice they take debit for any amount too, no min. A great place to stop when in inman sq.

I love thin crust pizza! While I was trying to finish the slice of pizza I ordered, one staff asked if I wanted more for free? He accidentally burnt the crust and can't sell them. They looked good to me so I scored three for the price of one :)

The best pizza I have ever had: their pulled pork pizza. This pizza had some kind of delicious jam base. Too bad it was a limited special pizza. It MUST be made into a menu item. I walk by just to see if it is available.

Owner promptly responded to my query that their pizza cannot be made vegan since the dough uses egg. Lame, considering this is supposed to be a place that offers specialty pizzas that are unique and cooked with skill. But life goes on. The staff is friendly, and I love the painting on the wall. Pizza boxes have a neat design to them as well. Not open super late and doesn't deliver, but that fits with its neighborhood-joint theme. Friends said the more unique toppings were superb, but the plain slices were a bit unremarkable. Beer offering is a nice touch.

Eating at All Star Pizza Bar, you are presented with a quandary: your 10-oz beer runs out far before your pizza slice does. If this is your biggest problem, life could be a lot worse. This place seems to have remedied some of the complaints from earlier reviews. They did not have just cheese and pepperoni slices; I got the "funky slice" of the day: chili rubbed chicken, roasted plantains, mango black bean salsa, onion cream sauce. At $4, it isn't the world's cheapest slice, but it was far more than enough for a meal--it was enormous. It was also dangerously yummy. They no longer stop serving slices at 8. I got there at 8:10 and was served with a smile, as were several people who came in after I did. If you get a whole pie, you can choose from some VERY creative combos, or create your own. A few of the ingredients on offer: buffalo duck, "creamy hominy ricotta grits," horseradish, romesco sauce, "toasted pistachio gremolata." (I dare you to try these all on one pizza.) Beers on tap include BBC Steel Rail lager, Longtrail, Harpoon. I agree that $5 is a bit much for 10 oz. Sorry, guys--you need some pint glasses. Very friendly service and a cute mural depicting aliens and astronauts dining together brings this in at a solid 4 stars.

My husband and I are big fans of "All Star Sandwich Bar", so we've been excited to try "All Star Pizza Bar". We went for dinner on Sunday, and thankfully the place wasn't crowded. We ordered a House Blend Cheese pizza with prosciutto, but ended up getting the "Miss Piggy's Fig" pizza by mistake. It was a delicious mistake, so we didn't say anything. It was a really good pizza . . . a nice combination of salty and sweet, and the crust was just perfect. I wouldn't necessarily consider this to be thin-crust, but I liked it a lot. My husband got a beer. I think he paid $5 or $5.50 for it, and it came in a 10-oz. plastic cup. That's a little steep if you're not getting a full pint of beer! The other issue was that it was hot outside and inside, and there were no fans or A/C going. If you're going to be running hot pizza ovens, and the sun is beating in through the windows, there should be air conditioning. For the prices and the other issues above, we will skip this place, unless we're going for slices (not a whole pie).

The brothers behind the All Star Sandwich shop have done it again. They've created an amazing pizza shop right across the street from the Sandwich shop, thus making the intersection of Cambridge and Prospect all theirs. I went to the soft opening last night and let me tell you, You can taste the love that's going into the Pizza. It's evident that the owners & staff are very proud of their new baby and are holding the quality and the service to high standards. They are using top quality ingredients that elevate these pies to the next level. Pizza's like buffalo duck confit with Maytag blue cheese or the atomic meatloaf pizza. However my favorite that i tried last night was the Chili Relleno Pizza with a rustic tomatillo salsa Verde sauce topped with cheese, fire roasted poblano peppers, grilled chorizo sausage, sweet corn, cojita cheese and finished with fresh cilantro. forgetaboutit. With a couple of taps, killer sangria, and PBR- I can see myself spending a lot of time just hanging out in here. Congrats to the owners! it looks like living in Inman sq just got a whole lot better!

There's a lot of room for improvement here, and I WILL check back periodically to see if it gets better. I want these guys to do well. Inman needs a good non-chain pizza place. Their set-up and style seemed to be a good foundation for a flourishing business - however their product (the important part!) was disappointing. My standard measure of ANY pizza place is the good old fashioned cheese slice. So that's what I got. I found the sauce tasty but a bit on the salty side. The ingriedients really did all taste fresh and there was just the right amount of cheese. The most disappointing part was when I went to lift the slice to my mouth, the whole thing just kind of collapsed in a sad little cheesey pile of failed pizza potential. The crust needs to be crispier and more confidant! And the crust flavor was underwhelming as well. Like I said...I WILL check back.

I love all their pizzas so far and you can even choose your own ingredients. They use unexpected ingredients but it's always a really nice surprise. Perfect spot to chill out with a delicious pizza, beer and friends. Staff is always super friendly! If you're looking for a fast take-out option, they sell individual slices as well.

Let me just start by saying I really wanted to like this place. Not only do I LOVE pizza, but I'm also a huge fan of ECG and the Sandwich Bar across the street. All that said though, I just couldn't get past the soggy dough and overly strong sauce. We got the Broccoli Rabe and Meatball pizza to go. When I ordered it on the phone, the girl there told me 15 min. Great, but when I showed up 12 min. later it was already boxed up and ready to go. Why am I complaining about fast service? Because good pizza takes either time, or a super super hot oven. What I got was a soggy crust and cheese that wasn't even fully melted. Come on! Always err on the side of more done, it's worth the extra couple min your customers will have to wait. So it was soggy, but did it taste good? Unfortunately, it only tasted ok. The crust was not nearly salty enough, and the dough had little to no flavor. It really could have used some too, because the sauce is so heavily flavored, that with nothing to help balance it, it completely overpowers the rest of the pizza. In fact, it was all we could taste. I admit, I'm something of a pizza snob, but as of now, I'll continue to go to Posto for my pizza fix.

I don't understand any bad reviews for this place. Just popped in for some slices last weekend and had their "funky" (chicken, mozzarella, smoked gouda, red onion and red sauce) and "veggie" (pickled beets, goat cheese, basil ricotta cream, and pistachio). Slices are huge- about 1/4th of a whole pie- and the crust and consistency are spot on. The staff are friendly to boot and the treasure box of free Dove promises are the perfect dessert and nice touch!

  • Christopher K.

Had the Ms Piggy's Fig pizza. Creative, and tasty, and really fast turnaround, I think it was done in 15 minutes. It was also like $20, which was a little steep compared to the 2 other pizza places a block away. The staff was really nice and the inside of the place was clean and comfortable for a takeout joint. Definitely a lot more inviting than its predecessor.

Oh man...just go already! If you live far enough to carry a Pizza home, get off the couch and get it yourself! And have a nice cold beer (or two!) while you are waiting for it. If you have live in a surrounding 'burb...let me assure you that it is very much worth the drive (and the toll) into town. The pizza they serve here is unlike anything you have ever, ever had. The Duke's of Hazzard is an incestuous example of what is possible when you are willing to take a few risks on your pie. The Miss Piggy...out of this world. The Duck Buffalo Confit pizza it not anything I would ever have thought to make but something that every redblooded man should try at least once in his life. And the Chile Relleno...sweet merciful lord is this pizza phenomenal! It both impersonates and improves the common pizza at once with it's green chile pizza sauce, delicious cheese selection, and chorizo topped deliciousness. It is the one begotten son of Pepperoni Pizzas, here to save us from our chain-pizza loving sins. The pulled pork pizza is something out of a dream as well. You must go.

We came to this part of town for another restaurant, and when we discovered it was closed, we decided to give this place a try. Loved it! Cute murals, good and quick service and tasty pizza. I had the potato and sausage pizza and it was amazing. If I lived in the area I would keep coming back to try their unique creations!

  • Heather G.

Great service- super friendly face behind the register. I really like the atmosphere. BUT... what is up the crust? It was like cardboard- flavorless and tough. We got a slice of the Funky- sopressata and artichoke cream and a slice of the Veggie- sun dried tomatoes, ricotta cream and basil. Both slices were not good. No flavor! The best part was the fresh basil. Maybe we'll try again in a few months... maybe not.

  • Bill W.

This place is somehow getting worse. I got a large cheese pizza from there the other day and the sauce is just not good, it's like this paste heavy, overspiced mess. Tomato sauce should be simple! Not everything needs 12 ingredients! The crust was doughy and thick. Occasionally I'll try a slice to see if they got better and sometimes it's better (sometimes not), but whenever I splurge on a whole pie it's terrible. You guys need some consistency. Unless you want to pay twenty bucks for pizza with figs on it, that stuff is OK, but they just aren't paying attention to REGULAR CHEESE PIZZA. I miss Aram's!

A very "hot" atomic meatball pizza. Smells delicious and doing a bang-up business in Inman Sq. The atomic meatball pizza was too hot for me, thought the sweetness of the onions and the flavor of the meatballs was great. I'm begging for a toned down version!--nevertheless very tasty (if you have a Coke or two to tamper down the mouth on fire feeling).

Good stuff. I grew up on pizza in Brooklyn so I have a bit of a hometown bias here, but this place is pretty solid. The service is quick, the tables are clean, and the pizza is good. There are a handful of pizzerias in Cambridge, but another one is always welcome, and this one works (even if you just want a quick plain slice). A great lunch choice for when you don't want to wait for a sandwich at the All Star Sandwich Bar across the street.

I was a bit doubtful about this place after reading some of the Yelp reviews, but I have to say that I was very impressed with this little pizza joint. This place must read and respond to negative reviews, and with pretty quick turnover time-- they have only been around for four months! The guy at the counter was extremely friendly, proud of where he worked and of the sister restaurant across the street, and warmly welcomed us to the neighborhood. When I came in my husband and I both ordered a slice of plain cheese pizza. They only had one slice of cheese ready, and since the next cheese would be a 10 minute wait they offered us a slice of the daily 'funky' pizza on the house. My cheese pizza was really good. Flavorful, good balance of ingredients, crisp and melty. My husband's was something fancy with spinach, feta, cauliflower, poblanos and some other things I am forgetting. He wasn't bowled over by the flavor combination, but was totally happy (and it was free-- who can complain?). The specialty pizzas all had me drooling, I am sure they are awesome and will definitely come back for one when I get a chance. I think I was annoying my husband a bit by the end because I kept re-reading the menu. Once we finished our slices the cheese was out and ready, and we were offered a slice to take away with us. We were totally satisfied and declined, but I really was amazed at the service. This will be my go-to local place for a quick lazy dinner on the cheap. One slice is HUGE and more than enough!

Meatloaf Pizza, Awesome! Free chocolate mints, incredible. If I could change one thing, I would like a better crust but its not bad enough to keep me away. They custome pizza options along with the impressive menu are enough to keep me coming back for more.

I am rounding up... I would probably say 3.8 so far, but I only got 2 slices of pizza. One cheese, One Pepperoni. (Staff was cool, smiling, etc.) The slices were big, the crust thin. About $6 for 2 slices... lol. They were big, and I was hungry so I was 90% okay with paying that much for pizza. I started with The Pepperoni. It was good, the crust was the perfect combo of crispy crunchy chewie... the flavor was good. Decent seasoning. But to be honest, I wasn't in an adventurous mood and I was pretty hungry...lol... so it may have been bland- I'm not 100% sure... but at that moment I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated that quick slice. I was looking forward to My Cheese Slice, cuz man I was hungry!!!! Oh My... I was so excited to eat you, but you were floppy and that weird combination of cold and warm. Why oh why didn't they heat you like they heated My Pepperoni friend??? I had to eat it because I was really hungry and have lots of stuff to work on at the office, but I didn't do it with the same love and care and attention as I did the Pepperoni slice. I will have to try them again when I am feeling better and have time to get my gourmet on... but I did enjoy my first time there... They totally would have been a 4 if both slices were heated and one wasn't floppy.... also, I do want to note that the pepperoni pieces were a little thicker than I am used to on a pizza... not by a huge margin, but they did sit on top of the pizza rather than being melted into the cheese and when I bit the pizza, the whole pepperoni came with it rather than breaking off when I bit it.... But they were good. Go and enjoy. I hope I didn't ramble too much. It is 4am and I am exhausted, but I just finished some work stuff and wanted to write before I forgot... because they deserve a decent review. I will update it next time I go... :) Hugs.

I've eaten here twice now. I don't hate the pizza, but I don't have any special love for it. The crust is crispy, but more like a cracker, which leaves it feeling structurally unsound. It looks like New York style on the sheet, but it's not like New York pizza because there's no chew to the crust, and the cheese is relatively sparse.

I came here starved and decided on the spinach and broccoli rabe special (white sauce). It said it came with fresh herbs and that sounded alright, but I asked which ones and they couldn't give me a definitive answer. Well I decided to give it a shot, maybe my mistake. I doctored it up with hot pepper flakes and grated cheese, and since I was so hungry ate several slices. It was edible in the moment, but honestly broccoli RABE does not go well on a white za. Rabe has a mustard flavor and the white sauce here was extremely bland. Last, the "herbs" were mainly just chopped parsley and also did not compliment the rest of the pizza. The next day I went to have the leftover slices but could not stomach them. This special was pretty lousy so, Pizza Bar, you've got some work to do. Wish I had gotten something tried and true. Oh well live and learn. At least the person at the register was welcoming and pretty helpful.

We got The Red Head which is basically a steak and potato pie. It was good but a little bland. I'd sweeten it up with some BBQ sauce or extra horseradish cream sauce.

Been here twice now, first time on the opening day and second just recently to grab a few slices. The pizza is decent. I didn't notice any changes from opening until now. Crust is crisp, but bland. Sauce is chunky and nice. Good amount of cheese. Got a slice of the "funky" pizza with a bunch of veggies. Veggies were nice, though a bit dry. The slice stayed crisp though and had good combo of flavors. Beer is a bit of a rip. $5 for a pint is a great price. Too bad it isn't anything close to a pint. I'd be generous in saying the cup was 12oz. Went very well with the pizza though. (what beer doesn't?) I waffled between three and four stars, but in the end I think it's worth the four, because the slices are generous, pizza is solid, and you can get beer, even if it's on the smallish side. Definitely would stop by for some more slices, though not in a rush to do so.

A solid choice if you are in the mood for a quick bite of good pizza and a beer. They have a selection of about 5 or 6 beers on draft. For pizza I've only gone with the slices, the funky is my usually choice, and haven't been disappointed.

I came here back in 2007 and don't remember what the place was called, but the pizza was incredible. What I had to day was far from it. The cheese smelt awful and I didn't care for the sauce. The slices however are huge which would be great if the pizza was actually worth it. I was disappointed to say the least.

Favorite pizza spot... doesn't help that it is half a block from my apartment. Service is always friendly, I never see the guy without a huge smile on his face. The duck confit pizza is UNREAL. Slices are huge so it is totally worth the price. Plus they have Arnold Palmer.. can't ask for much more than that.... except maybe stay open until midnight to satisfy my post-bar cravings????

I was in the area looking at apartments and I remembered that this place had opened - since i needed a quick bite before meeting my potential new roomies I headed over to grab a slice. As you walk in there is the pizza counter about 8 feet from you and seating at hi-top tables or a picnic table style seating. The pizza options are listed on a black chalk board - they have whole pies that you can order that are already designed or you can pick your basic pizza and add toppings - around $1 extra per topping or more depending on the item. The slice options are a plain cheese, pepperoni, and daily special - that day it was BBQ chicken with some other delicious options. Since it was my first visit I wanted to try the basics - so i ordered a plain and a roni -- and they also have beverages... fountain sodas, lemonade, iced tea, arnie palmer, beer on tap, water.... since i was driving i chose an arnold palmer. I took a seat and waited - the drink came right up, the upside it was on the tart side, but not enough tea for me -- too much lemonade for my personal taste. The slices, which start around 2.50 to 3.50 - are HUGE -- i should have guessed. If you wanted a quick snack a slice would tide you over... I started with the cheese -- wasn't as hot as i would expect, usually pizza joints get the slice to the point the cheese will melt your mouth. Also, even though the the crust was super thin it wasn't cooked long enough to crisp up the crust. Next, I tried the "roni", thankfully this was warmer, still not piping hot, but the bottom crust did show that it got a little more char on it - a good thing. I liked the fact that they used traditional small pepperoni slices. Overall, it is a good slice, would like a little more char on the crust, but the thin crust is nice and so is the crusty edge -- not so much that you eat a lot of dough, but enough that you can enjoy the pizza "bones", as my nephew called them when he was a tiny tot. This is an affordable option with potential for a great snack, quick lunch or place to meet buds for game day pizza and beer before or after the game.

This Pizza Bar Is Not Family Friendly My 6-year-old is a fairly fussy eater, however, some friends gave him a slice of a meatloaf topping pizza from All Star Pizza Bar and he ate it. On Memorial Day weekend my wife asked me to order a whole meatloaf pizza for she and our 2 1/2-year-old and 6-year-old children to eat while I spent the afternoon out on errands. I went into the All Star Pizza Bar with my 6-year-old at 4:50PM on Sunday and told the cashier that my son (pointed to 6-year-old in plain sight) had a slice of their meatloaf topping pizza during the previous week and I wanted to order a whole pizza. The cashier said there were two types of meatloaf pizza, and I said it was for our kids. He said he knew the type kids like, he keyed the register, and I said my wife was going to bring in the kids and pick it up (I was not going to pick it up) and he said no problem. About 20 minutes later, my wife went to the All Star Pizza Bar with our 2 1/2-year-old and 6-year-old children to pick up what she thought was a meatloaf topping pizza for kids. At 8PM when I returned home from being out, my wife reported that the 2-year-old cried when he took his first and only bite of the pizza, shook his head in pain, and needed to have his mouth rinsed out with cold milk. When the 6-year-old took a small bite of the pizza and spit it out, and would not eat "his" special pizza, he cried in shame and guilt being at a sensitive age. Both children crying -- wife was VERY unhappy. All three of them could not eat the children's pizza. "Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn." - Benjamin Franklin Here is where this turns into an episode of Fawlty Towers: I looked at the pizza and there appeared to be yellow spice sauce spiraled all over the top. I returned to the All Star Pizza Bar with the uneatened pizza at about 8:20PM and asked what little kids ever, ever pick such a hot spicy pizza? The two child experts working behind the counter (one being the same cashier that took the original order) attempted to educate me about how little kids crave hot spicy foods. Readers need to pick sides at this point. Do you ever see little kids compete against beer belly adults in spicy food eating contests? Not in my experience. The child experts behind the All Star Pizza Bar counter did not argue their case from a parent's perspective, but from their memories of their own childhoods, so of course the Atomic Volcanic Spicy Meatloaf pizza is the appropriate choice for little kids. Well, from my point of view as a parent, a burning spicy pizza causes pain to little children and creates panic and fear for the child's health in wife. No refund was offered, but a free cheese pizza was offered for that night or the next day. The kids were in bed, so I said the next day. The next day at lunch time I returned to the All Star Pizza Bar with 2 1/2-year-old in arm and as best I could, ordered a simple, non-spicy, plain cheese pizza for kids. Clearly saying this should not have spice powders or spice sauces. Not spicy please! The cashier was a different person and tried to charge me for the plain cheese pizza, but I showed him my receipt# 1055536 for $20.28 for one item -- the bad pizza from the previous night. After showing the receipt, I did not have to pay a second time to order the plain simple children's cheese pizza. 15 minutes later I returned, this time with my 6-year-old child, and to the credit of the lunchtime workers, they gave a soda to each of the two kids. Cruelty, missing empathy, a lack of common sense, poor communication skills, ignorance -- I do not know the cause. I can report that as a parent, the All Star Pizza Bar was a miserable experience. Seek alternatives. If a parent must order a pizza from these people, it is best to place your order for the children's pizza you desire by using basic communication theory: first announce that you are about to order a non-spicy pizza for a child, next order in detail a non-spicy pizza for your child, then summarize that you have just ordered a non-spicy pizza for a child, and then last, ask the cashier for feedback to confirm that they have understood that you have ordered a non-spicy pizza for a child. By using this method you may have a chance.

My friend and I split the Atomic Meatball pizza and it was really great. The cheese on the pizza is really phenomenal and the hot sauce has a nice kick. I like their specialty pizza combinations and I really want to try the Ms. Piggy fig pizza next time. Their sangria wasn't my favorite because it tasted like coconut. I'll definitely be back for another pizza soon!

This is our favourite pizza place with my wife. Their pizza is so delicious and unusual - we love it. Every day they have a special "funky" and "veggie" pizza-by-the-slice special, and this is our usual pick. Sangria is delicious, too!

Yay crust improved! It was chewy and more flavorful and today they had atomic meatloaf by the slice. I would give them 5 stars for that alone!

Went to All Star Pizza in Cambridge September 12, 2012 with my brother and would rate it as a top 10 Pizza destination in the Boston area. And Boston has a wealth of excellent pizza establishments. We had a large pepperoni and pitcher of Harpoon beer. Any place smart enough to carry this particular nectar of the gods gets an automatic 3 stars to start. The delicious pie and service ( shout out to Evan for the good pour and that crazy little Pedro for extra pepperonis) made this a 5 star experience. The menu is vast and interesting, with all sorts of gourmet variations to the traditional pizza. They have a blackboard on the wall explaining all the various menu choices. ***FYI: If you can get little Pedro to laugh, Evan will take 20% of the bill. Be warned, that fat bastard doesn't speak English. Good Times!

I can't say this place is anything special. Definitely not on par with the sandwich shop. Pizza is ok but WAY overpriced. $3.75 for a slice of cheese in Inman sq? A full pizza is about $20, but it's not quite $20 good

Cheap slices. Quick turn out. Fresh ingredients. This all equals a great go to on the weekend. It's quick service and the guys working behind the counter are real nice. Come in- get two slices. Try the funky if you are adventurous. You'll leave happy and full while only spending $5.

The menu is very interesting but the actual pizza's I've had have been hit or miss. Ms. Figgy's Pig is the best pizza I have had there. I was particularly excited about the chili relleno but left disappointed. The atomic meatloaf was pretty good. There's not a lot of seating so most of their business is takeout.

This place is legit an all-star pizza joint. You don't get the typical pizza options here, which makes for some super unique flavors. Just like everyone else who has been here, I have to recommend the duck confit pizza; the meat is marinated and shredded perfectly for a pizza. The place itself is small, so it's hard to find a seat, but if you do, you're even able to enjoy some beer on draught. They apparently have some nutella banana dessert pizza that's amazing too, so I'll definitely be back to give that a try sometime!

Hands down..best pizza in boston. Brothers who own it treat their customers with genuine appreciation and interest in their pleasurable experience. I guess it should be expected considering how good their sandwich shop across the street is. Make sure to go to both restaurants if you like funky

I don't know how a "pizza bar" decides to only offer cheese or pepperoni slices (and the pizza of the day), but that's how it is here. They've got a ton of great looking ingredients, but you can't try them without committing to a full ~$20 pizza. I asked if they'd put ingredients on a cheese slice and heat it up, but they said no to that. The pepperoni slice I had tasted fine, but was only lukewarm. Crust was chewy and nothing special, but better than most quick pizza places in Cambridge. I want a new place to succeed, so I'll try again when I have enough people with me to get a full pie.

This was a dreadful couple slices of pizza indeed. The cheese was poor, the crust was flavorless, and the pizza sauce was terrible. It was nigh school cafeteria quality. Indeed, it is places like this that give Boston pizza a bad name. Who would ever have thought that I would pine for the days of Aram's No. 1? I am also, alas, not sure what the folks who are so positive about their pizza see in this place. It is, effectively equivalent to Hi-Fi in Central Square, which is only in any way decent when you've had a drink or six.

Absurdly delicious pizza with creative and well-thought out topping combos. Friendly staff AND local beer on tap. Just go and eat here, you will be happy you did.
