I've been there during their grand opening week when they were serving food to train the staff as well as part of their regular operations. One thing that you can always count on with a chain is consistency. There aren't many opportunities for surprises. But it is certainly a significant facelift to the old deteriorating predecessor of this restaurant at the mall. Its location above all other stores in the plaza makes for good views of the city skyline. The food is fresh as you can expect from any legal seafood. I've had their burgers, crab cakes, salmon, lobster rolls & cod. All highly recommended. The only annoying part about it is how crowded it gets. It seems like if you go there any day of the week, as long as you're not there for lunch, you're packed like spam with people on top of each other. Also it seems like their closest parking spots either belong to the hotel or the office building across the way which always makes me nervous about getting towed. I guess it's like that with any new place. Everyone wants to check it out. Too bad they all seem to make an appointment to show up at the same time.

Pretty surprised at the amount of people in Braintree.. this location of Legal Sea Foods would not be my first choice, if I had been given a choice. But as it ends up my parents were staying in this Hyatt so I drove out 30 min to get average food. Big table of like 20 people so we were seated in the back. The service was quick but I always find it so weird when they only give certain people water if they ask for it... it should just be a baseline to give everyone water if there's so many people instead of asking who wants it and then forgetting and then asking again. Maybe I'm just being nit picky. We had oysters for an appetizer and they were really fresh! Nice chunk of oyster and very tasty. For my entree I had the crab cakes that came with a slaw and ate some food off my parents' plates. Mom had wild salmon w/ seaweed salad and slaw and dad had filet mignon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Crab cakes were pretty good, but not $30 good. They had nice big lumps of crab but were a little lacking on the seasoning. The slaw was decent. Salmon and filet mignon were good but once again also not worth the price tag. Sides were a disappointment for their entrees. It's hard to justify over $100 of food when it's subpar and I can make it for $40-50. I guess for the area this is a better choice than TGI Friday's. I think they're more worth it in Boston too, if you get to be on the water at some locations. Otherwise, I'll stick to my more hole in the wall/fish-market type restaurants for seafood.

Some of my faves: -Fresh oysters - clam chowder - signature crab cake - Bloody mary Pricey but worth the taste! I like coming here during the day. Less busy than night time. Moderate amount of people and noise.

I am thoroughly impressed by this Legal Seafoods location. I used to dine at this Legal Seafoods that was located in the South Shore Plaza before they moved to Forbes Road. Everything has changed for the better! Service: I must say I had no qualms with the service and felt like our server, Rebecca, treated us well. As a family, we take forever to order and she was extremely patient. Also, she made great suggestions and I thought she was really sweet. The manager came over to our table and asked how everything was which was very professional and kind of him to do so. My father and him got to chatting it up which was nice. Food: I can't begin to explain how their menu transformed from so long to short and sweet. Honestly, I flipped open the menu and all I got were two pages side by side. I really like that because they took away the entrees that didn't make the cut or because guests didn't enjoy it as well. As a pesco-vegetarian, I went bananas of course. For the table, we ordered a round of fried clams, calamari and fried pickles! I dove in for the Rhode Island style calamari because jalapenos and banana peppers accompany the appetizer. The peppers add to the flavor of the calamari and it's so tasty. Who doesn't like fried pickles with horseradish sauce on the side? Am I right? Folks, that appetizer settled my tummy and got it ready for the entree round! My entree was the Legal's Signature Crab Cakes along with scallops (two jumbo lump crab cakes, mustard sauce, seasonal salad). The salad was a frisee with peas and it was really delicious. I enjoyed my dish very much, but couldn't finish it so I left it for my sister since I had to travel back to Maine. Ambience: We sat right by the OPEN kitchen. I love the concept because you see the methodical order of it and how the food stays warm when the servers get the orders. The lighting was dim for the evening hour which was nice because I could still see my food. I'll be back for Mother's Day because mom loves this location now :) Thanks for a great experience!

Legal Sea Foods is top notch. Excellent service and great food. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. I brought my new boss here for our first business dinner out, and my boss was very pleased in spite of the fact a server accidentally spilled a beer on him.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well these folks handled our large party. 1. The hostess confirmed our reservation and seated us promptly. 2. The wait staff was attentive juggling all our orders with ease. 3. The atmosphere is bright and clean. 4. Food was excellent. Their rolls are awesome, fried pickles delicious and the polenta side dish fantastic. Prices are fair given the guality.

The seafood at Legal is always fresh and well prepared. The new Braintree location features modern stylish decor and a raw bar. If you've never been to Legal, you must try the deep-fried pickles, calamari, and one of their signature cocktails. This particular location does have its downsides - first, traffic can be bad since the center in which the restaurant is located also hosts an AMC theater and the Logan shuttle. Second, parking is limited so it can be tough to find a spot, especially on weekends. Lastly, the wait at peak times can be as much as 2 hours. I'd recommend going mid-week to have the best experience.

Celebrating Father's Day with my fiancé. What was suppose to be a good dinner, almost became deadly!! We decide to go to Legal Seafood in Braintree last night. When we first got to the restaurant it was a 25-30min wait. We had our 5year old with us, so kids as you know can't wait long when there hungry. However the server suggested a pizza bar..."she could make her own pizza"...the way the server made it sound exciting and fun...however it was not by any means fun, I was upset that it was a bar setting in back of the restaurant. Not really what we had in mind for dinner. However we made the best of a bad situation. We ordered dinner, when our dinner eventually came. Before I can take my first bit of food I realized that my chicken was still under cooked. Good thing I saw the rawness of the meat before I gave some to our 5year old. I'm sorry, but serving raw chicken to any customer is a huge NO NO...we could have gotten salmonella poisoning. I informed one of the staff that it wasn't cooked all the way. However, the supervisor or manager came over to apologize...but instead of giving me a brand new plate of food all they did was take the chicken off and cooked it longer...however for them to not realizing that the other food that was on the plate could be contaminated by the raw chicken..I barley ate my dinner because I was scared I would get sick later. My fiancé even asked if I had enough to eat? Only reason I'm give it a star, is because the gentleman who served us was extremely pleasant and it wasn't his fault that the kitchen served us raw meat. There truly lucky I didn't contact the FDA (food and drug administration). Never going back!!!!

They always come through in the clutch. Regular menu runs to 10 pm, but they have a more than sufficient "Late Night Menu" to Midnight. Late Night Menu consists of four types of artisan pizzas (think pear and clam topping choices) -- all for less than $10 each, crunchy fried pickles for $3 a bowl, warm and cheesy spinach and artichoke dip for $8, and a few other nibbly things. Pro Tip: If you ask nicely, and if they haven't cleaned the grill yet, they can accommodate salad requests, even though they aren't featured on the late night menu. Ditto for Legal's famous Clam Chowdah. Most importantly, you still get a warm and perfectly crunchy signature roll- even with your late night requests. Nice staff, very large space - huge wrap around bar that is always playing some sort of high wattage game. Usually really quiet at night, which I appreciate. P.S. They do phone orders- it's your best option if you are really craving something on the regular menu and you know you can't get there til 10pm.

I am staying at the Hyatt Braintree for a business trip and luckily for me it is attached to legal seafood. This is my first trip to the north east so I knew I had to try a seafood restaurant and the proximity of this one made it an easy choice. They did not disappoint. I started with a legal sangria - it was jus the right amount of sweet and liquor. I then ordered a mug of clam chowder! Literally the best I have ever had. I asked for a suggestion for the main course as I was torn between lobster ravioli and seafood casserole - I was told to go with the seafood casserole..... Oh my my!!! I enjoyed every bite!!! Service was good and food was great!! I have 2 more nights in town so I may end up there again.

Upon coming to the Boston(ish) area I NEEDED seafood. Living in Arizona I have to typically resort to mediocre chain seafood places that leave me hungry and dissatisfied. This was not the case with Legal. Yes it is essentially a chain in the area, but it is a GOOD one! My husband ordered the lobster ravioli and I ordered the Cioppino. I was able to alter it to my liking to for a reasonable charge. The waitress was very nice and attentive. I loved the layout of the restaurant as well. It gave diners a look at the food preparation. Now back to the food! It was so delicious. I overdid it on the mussels and felt a bit off later, but it was so good. I tried the lobster ravioli as well and it was really good. The food was very tasty and we were both stuffed with happiness afterwards. Great place for seafood in the area.

Overall It's a consistent quality seafood experience at this national chain. Nothing too exciting or inventive about the food, but you get the same quality at any of the restaurants. Experience Service was friendly. They were attentive and kept the beers flowing. You have to ask for a glass of water if you want one. The location in Braintree appears to be a very new facility, so it looks nice. There is an open kitchen and an open raw bar. You can actually get seats at the bar in front of either of those food prep groups. Food Appetizer: Always have to order the clam chowder here. They really hype it, and it's pretty good. I did have a minimal amount of sand in my oysters, so that's a slight ding. They also serve hot rolls, which are delish. Can be used to sop up the last bits of chowda, but with the soup served in a deep mug, you will end up with some of it on your fingers. It was worth the mess for me though. We went with 3 types of oysters. After asking for the waitress' recommendation, we ended up getting the Acadia oysters from off menu. All of the types were quality eats. Main course: I chose the almond-encrusted salmon, which is served on a bed of spinach and mushroom ravioli. It was all decently tasty, with a nice sear on salmon. Dessert: The key lime pie was served cold and firm, with the pie filling not too sour. A nice creme with a red gel design is included on the side. One really nice feature is that we were going to split the key lime pie, and so it was served already split in half. Normally it is a small, full circle shape. Two thumbs up on dessert!

I like the ambience of this newer location. However, the stereo was a bit too loud to hear my booth mates talking to me. The dual crab cakes were great with large crab pieces and little filler. Clam chowder was great as usual. And who doesn't love Legal rolls? The watermelon martini was fabulous and I will be coming back for more very soon! Our waiter was very attentive and made sure my party of four was timely refilled on drinks.

The sign looks ridiculous. The atmosphere is nice. The staff is excellent with excellent service. Prices are a bit high in my opinion. You must be wondering why I haven't wrote about the food. Well, that's because there's not much to write about. It's good food but nothing special. You can't go wrong with any order but you won't be surprised or disappointed.

The first time I came, I ordered the seafood casserole. The overpriced portion size is about half the size of my hand and the dish really consists of BUTTER. Very greasy dish.. Not all that flavorful.. Wasnt happy with the calamari either (Olive garden or Cheesecake factory does better). Second time I went for oysters.. the big juicy ones. I ordered and then some time later, the manager comes out and says they are all out of oysters!!!??? and that he has 4 Kusshi's that he could give to me.. they were very small but delicious.. anytime I come, I think I'mma stick to the raw bar. Oh and the lobster-less lobster bisque was bland...

This is what Braintree needed! I went for lunch over the weekend and had the fish tacos...they were SO good and so filling. There were 3, it was the perfect portion and so delicious. Decor is really great, you would never know that you are in a strip mall, really feel like you are downtown boston. It was a super busy lunch crowd so I was surprised how great the service was and how good and timely our meals came out. Not enough seafood places in Braintree, so glad this place moved out of the plaza, I'll be back!

It is not easy to fathom the superior and thorough quality control that abides in this place. Apart from slightly elevated dish prices (not drinks or wine, the latter of which, especially, remains the best value of wine curation in the Northeast), there's nothing wrong here --- with anything. Coffee, desserts, cooking time, service, friendly professionalism, ingredient quality, modest saucework, cocktails: everything is at a superior level that fancier and way more 'creative' restaurants would really do well to emulate. And nothing oversalted, which is simply astonishing these days. It's pretty declasse in this time of foodiness to admit that LS is a place serious eaters can seriously enjoy, and of course LS is hardly the last word in creativity, just basics and simplicity. But if you value sheer competence everywhere overlaying excellent quality, keep it on your list.

I'm not typically a fan of chain restaurants (often times they lack true quality and individuality),however, I am now a fan of this one. I've been to the Legal Test Kitchen in the Seaport (very, very good) but never to the plain ole restaurant. Food: Delicious and yes, FRESH! I never eat steamers at a restaurant because they're usually rubbery but these were perfect. Drinks (I had the white sangria and my husband had a Guava martini) were tasty and refreshing. I think the prices are reasonable considering the freshness and I honestly thought the portions would be smaller but nope, my seafood casserole was packed as was my husbands Cioppino. Even better than the food: the service. Our server Vanessa was wonderful. So nice, very attentive and fast. The manager stopped by to ask how everything was so far and let us know our meals would be out soon (we had two hours to kill until our movie started next door at the theater so we don't think we waited very long anyway). Overall, this was a great experience and I look forward to returning.

I came here one night with some old coworkers to catch up on old times. Since the mall location has since relocated to here, I was a little hesitant to go. The new location is great -- it's much more open, airy, has patio seating (although overlooking a parking lot with the melody of 128 in the background), and it is brighter. Plus, it doesn't look as formal or stuffy as the old location. The parking is really weird because it abuts with the hotel parking lot and an office parking lot with obnoxious warning signs that you will be towed. Or, you can park below near Starbucks and hoof it up the steps. Your choice. I got there early and saddled up to the bar where I was quickly given a drink menu with no "hello". And I sat. And I sat. And I sat some more before a manager asked if I had been helped. All I wanted was a glass of wine and I hadn't had just one second to ask for it when I first sat down before being shoved a drink menu. Anyway, I got my wine and all was well in the world. My friends showed up, we put our name in for a table, and then we stayed at the bar for a round of drinks. Our name for the table was quickly called and then the hostess realized she made a mistake. Oops. Oh well. We then went back to the bar. Our name was called once more. Another mistake. Okay, this was just getting ridiculous. After about 20 minutes in limbo, we finally sat down at our table. Our server was really nice and understood that we would be there for a bit. However, she could also tell that we were willing to plunk down a good chunk of change since we ordered another round of drinks and a slew of appetizers. Our mussels were just okay since some of the shells were still closed and it would have taken the jaws of life to open them. However, the ones that we could open were delicious. I had a caesar salad to start which was pretty average; not great, but not bad. My friends split a crabcake and enjoyed that as well. I ordered the Maryland crabcakes, which had a little bit more filler than I would have liked. Then again, I am from Maryland so I have a different (self-entitled, you may say) standard. But do not be fooled because these crabcakes were quite good. I definitely think they use some type of mayo in their filler, but they were really good. Plus, they were broiled (the best kind!) and the crabmeat was genuine backfin blue crabmeat. The creme de la creme of crabmeat, and the price reflected it. Some people may complain about the prices, but the ingredients are of high quality and they are fresh. The television commercials may seem cheesy, but the fact of the matter is that they won't serve an inferior product. It's definitely worth checking out and a great place to get together with your friends!

Legal Seafood had always been a borderline dining option for me. I must say I'm taken back by the new location, ambiance and service (Lauren-server) - total success makeover. Now if they can modify their menu - it'll be perfect. The menu lacks creativity. Pretty much your standard traditional seafood options with a high price tag.

Nice enough location on a hill, better than in the mall where it used to be. The food is good, service is typically fast. I basically only go for the clam chowder, but on occasion try other things. The baked stuffed shrimp was always good. Parking can be a pain, not that there isn't enough, but the parking lot always seems congested.

Had dinner here for my moms birthday about a month ago- it was snowing and the restaurant was closing early but they assured us that we had plenty of time to come in and eat (I had called before we went in). Service was pretty good, but everything we ordered was not. Dinner rolls were literally inedible because they were hard as rocks (whatever, they're free-but this kinda set the tone for the meal), coconut shrimp were VERY overcooked, and our meals were overcooked yet cold, and contained the smallest shellfish I've ever seen. My mom got two cosmos- the first one was good, second one she didn't drink because it had an awful flavor. $130 for 3 people (1 kids meal) and it was one of the worst meals I've ever had. Could've just been a bad night since they were slow due to the snow, but I don't think that's an excuse if you're paying that much for food.

Had dinner at Legal Sea Food in Braintree today.. The food was very good and the prices were a little high. But the atmosphere was great, and the highlight was the outstanding service. Our server's name was Amanda. And she was very professional and polite.

Went for lunch because I have always wanted to go to a Legal Seafood!!! The clam chowdah was delicious! Lots of clams and good sized chunks of potatoes. Yum! It was delicious. The rolls, I must say were great as well. For my main dish I ordered the Fisherman's trio, which was clam chowder, shrimp and scallops. I probably would have prefered to swap fish instead of the clams - I think they were whole bellied because they were filled with green stuff, which goes to show how much I really know about seafood despite being born and raised in New England...Not my style but I'm guessing people like it. The scallops and shrimp were perfect. My server had a huge smile on his face everyrtime he came over. No complaints. It was a good meal! Next time I will probably try one of the entrees that are not fried...

Our first time at this particular location, over looking South Shore Plaza Braintree. We enjoyed our dinner and the staff was exceptionally friendly. Our waitress, Amber, was very accomodating (she took upon herself to split our shared entree). We would definitely come back and recommend that you do too. Try their Rhode Island Calamari and the Anna's Baked Scrod while you're here.

Beautifully decorated with a huge wall of windows so it is bright and airy. We had great service and wonderfully fresh food. We have eaten at many LSF's around, but recommend the mushroom/lobster flatbread with heirmloom egg, the oysters, the lobster bisque, and small raw feast. And of course, you can't go wrong with a Stags Leap bottle of Chardonnay. We had a wonderful experience... thanks a lot to the great service and fresh food.

Went in for an early dinner. I travel a lot and so it's hard to find good healthy food that I can enjoy in a comfortable environment. I went at 5pm on Monday so the place was dead to say the least. Maybe 7 other people in the place. I ordered the NE Clam Chowder To start and the Seared Tuna steak for main. The chowder arrived in exactly 1 minute- made fresh mmmm. Exactly 3 minutes after, my Tuna arrived with the bar lady saying she didn't want it to get cold on the pass. Why the rush. I stopped eating the Chowder and tucked into the Tuna-amazing. I ordered 2 sides (mash & coleslaw). The mash was great but the coleslaw was frozen. Overall I liked the food but in a place that's trying to look like a fresh food restaurant I would expect that everything be made fresh and to order. Overall disappointed. Will I go back- yes for sure. I went for good food and got it. They just need work on caring for the customer experience.

This location is a nightmare. I'm finally reviewing after eating here more than a dozen times. Oysters- always broken shells and even empty at times. Last time I went I got breaded fish ( a special on the menu) and there was barely any fish. It was all breading. I wish I has a picture to share. The bartender agreed and had it sent back. Then the manager comes over and asks what I would like to do because if they make it again, it will be exactly the same. What?? After I tell her I do not want it again, she tells me she "won't charge me for what I sent back". Um? I didn't eat it? I hope so? Go to LTK or Legal Harborside- This place is awful and gives Legal a bad name.

Okay let's get this right now! The bar was busy but a couple of seats opened up fast and we were enjoying a cocktail and our appy's in no time! This is a great new location! Big, clean and the seafood is unbeatable!

This is definitely one of the better Legal's, if not the best. They make a mean wedge and their bisque is thinner with larger chunks of lobster. The best movie theater in the area is right up the street so it is a nice and convenient spot to grab a bite before taking to the big screen and red lounger seats.

My boyfriend and I went for a late dinner on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy but the waitress managed to get us a nice booth seat. We started off with a dozen raw oysters from their daily special menu, which was around 29 dollars. My boyfriend got the surf and turf with mashed potatoes and fries. I got the shrimp and garlic over pasta with mushrooms and scallops. Overall, the meal was very good and filling, raw oysters were fresh and hit the spot for our seafood craving. One problem with my pasta dish was that it was slightly hard/undercooked. Our bill including two beers and tip cost around 140 dollars. Not you typical cheap chain restaurant, but good portions and very good food.

Stopped here for lunch on our way to catch the T into Boston, on the recommendation of a relative. I'm not, generally a fan of chain restaurants, but I was told that this would be a good place to go for a bowl of chowder. I was not disappointed. It was chowder the way chowder should be...thick and tasting of clams, not glorified potato soup.We each had a mug of the chowder, then we split an order of fried clams. The clams, both fried and in the chowder were nice and tender, not a bit of the rubberinness that I have come to expect of clam chowder in the Northwest. The service was good. They checked back on us a few times during the meal and never let an empty plate stay on the table very long. I don't normally include an evaluation of the washroom in my restaurant reviews, but this one was probably one of the nicest and most well pointed restaurant restrooms I have ever been in. I still prefer a locally owned restaurant, but as far as chains go, this is one I would add to my regular restaurant rotation of I lived in the area.

This is not the Legal Seafoods I've been to in the past. The food was cold and flavorless. Even the french fries were cold and overcooked. They looked like they came off someone else's plate. The service was TERRIBLE. Two hours to get through a dinner? The place was busy, but there was no excuse for such poor service. I won't be going back. Poor food, poor services, high prices = fail. Sorry, Legal. You just ain't what you used to be.

I can't complain about this high end chain. I had the crab cake combo, which came with grilled shrimp, scallops, and a crab cake. It didn't make me feel bloated as some of their other giant portion sizes. Two people at my table got 2 lb lobsters, which looked to have plenty of meat in them. I washed it all down with the legal sangria. There does tend to be a wait here, so I would suggest calling ahead. Parking absolutely sucks and you will most likely have to park behind the restaurant in the hotel area.

Just got back from having to drive to Braintree location to get price of cole slaw taken off my order that they charged me for and forgot to give me. This happened before at the old location as well. The woman, ?manager that I spoke to on the phone, said I could come back for slaw, and ok I hung up on her when she offered me chowder. Not everyone is a big fan of the darned chowder ok. Some of us have lactose issues or are watching our weight. So after my hubbie and I ate our sandwiches and salads, off I drive to Braintree. Couldn't they have just taken off the price over the phone? Maybe they would have had I not hung up on her. So I get there and this manager says that her associate, Caitlin who I gave a tip to by the way, said the slaws were next to the lemonades. I bought a couple kids lemonades too since that is all they'll sell to adults? Thanks a lot lady for questioning my integrity. There are some who would drive from the middle of Quincy to the middle of Braintree for a free chowder or whatever even if they got it but that is not me. Poor customer service to question a customer's honesty in my opinion. The reception area and the takeout are the same place at this location. Lame. I get there and the lady who I spoke to offers me slaw and chowder. I say just take it off my card please. I received her apologies for my trouble. Complained to corporate. I paid good $$ for lunch at Legal's and I expect all my food to be there or at least a sincere apology when you screw it up.

if this is how chain seafood in massachusetts is, then sign me up! after sitting in an airplane with two dogs and a toddlers along with dragging along about 200 lbs of luggage to the rental car center at logan (without a cart-empty machines) and then driving to hotel (that was not selected ourselves) south of Boston during rush hour on a friday- legal seafood was an oasis. and after my day, i think i earned my glass of willamette valley pinot. very nice wine list and a good sign for things to come. fried clams and fried calamari was excellent. my son is not a fan of sauce, they were kind enough to put it on the side. we didn't order from the kids menu, but there were better choices than the usual over-priced hot dogs and grilled cheese. my almond crusted wild caught faroe island salmon was awesome, perfectly cooked- crispy skin. mushroom raviolis went well with fried capers. i stole a bite of my husband lobster steamer plate- delicious and simple. also stole a bite of the clam chowder- good flavor and potatoes perfectly cooked. service was attentive and helpful. definite repeat, hopefully less exhausted next time.

I miss the old place... It was quieter and more low key..... Legals might be making more money with their new place which appeals to the younger generation but I can't stand the frenetic energy and loud music and clanging.... Im only 50 btw.

We're big fans of Legal, having moved to SC we always try to get a meal here when we travel back to MA. The new Braintree location exceeded all our expectations. Jennifer O is an excellent server and provided very helpful advice. We were in the mood for lobster and Legal does it right. I had the Lobster Boil, my wife the Baked Stuffed we didn't have any lobster left to take home although we did take some leftover salad, onion rings and couldn't resist a chowder and bisque to go. The atmosphere is fabulous and we were seated immediately for our 6:15 reservation that we made on line. These guys are good, we will be back.

Decent. Too small. Constantly bumping in to people. Big patio, but stuck overlooking a parking lot. Meh. I can't believe I am saying this, but I liked the shopping mall location better and that is saying something.

Ordered takeout last night (Valentines day). Got the cooked oysters app., the sole dish and kids pizza. The food was good except the kids pizza which my son was not happy with as the bottom was burned! Had to fix him something else which did not make happy as I was not planning on cooking at all! Next time Legals try not to ruin a kids meal! Kids can be very picky about their food! That's why I'm giving it 3 stars!!!

We arrived around 5pm on March 21 perfect timing got a booth, huge wait when we left..., our meals were fantastic I had the shrimp & garlic (tons of shrimp) and hubby had the seafood casserole ! I would have given this a 5 but our fried clam appitizer the clams were just okay! Roxy was our server and was great.... One other mishap no toilet tissue in the stalls .....

Our surf & turf (steak) was about undercooked : however, the manager came right over not so intentional manner,, and approached us in very comfortable polite way. They know what the true customer service is... What a great management !

I love Legal Seafood but this place is overpriced for mediocre food. The ambience is cafeteria style and noisy but food is priced like Top of the Hub. What's up with all the fried food on the menu now? Legal Seafood serving a FRIED CHICKEN plate for $19.99!?!? Didn't know fried chicken is so en vogue that it's so expensive now. LOL.

Our experience at legal seafood of braintree was the best i ever had. We got there 30 minutes early before our reservation and only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Our server was great and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was cooked to perfection! We live in Rhode Island and will definitely make the trip back to braintree for this awesome restaurant. Hands down, i give them 10 out 10. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

*Edit* After posting this review, legal sea foods corporate reached out to me and apologized and reimbursed me for the meal. While I think it's funny that they wouldn't accept any true blame relating to food poisoning, I'm glad they felt obligated to speak with me after hearing how upset I was. EXTREME LACK OF CONSIDERATION WHEN HANDLING FOOD POISONING (contracted from Braintree location). I have been to several of Legal's locations in the past and never had an issue. After my experience Saturday night (3/7), I will NEVER eat here again. A friend and I ordered several apps to share (calamari, popcorn shrimp, tuna sashimi), entrees (faroe island salmon, lobster fra diavolo) and sangria. About 6 hours after we left the restaurant, both of us proceeded to get violently ill. Over 24 hours has passed and I still can't keep food down. I called the location to report the issue, was promised I would hear back from corporate guest services in no less than 24 hours, and was quickly dismissed when I asked for the number to call them directly (just in case I didn't hear back). Surprise! I had to follow-up after the 24 hour window passed without hearing from a member of the Braintree location or of corporate guest services. I finally was put in touch with a less-than-pleasant woman who promptly told me, "there's no way that's food poisoning" and was offered a gift card as consolation (as if I will ever return to one of these restaurants after this TERRIBLE experience). After only choosing to hone in on the alcohol consumed during our meal and alluding to this 24+ hour sickness being a hangover (we had 3 drinks each - I think I can hold my liquor), I was insulted enough and asked to just be reimbursed for the cost of food. She quickly obliged - because the cost of alcohol really has greater importance than putting someone's health at risk. "Guest services" should go above and beyond to rectify all cases of food poisoning. I am extremely disappointed by the way this was handled and would not recommend that anyone go here - in the unlikely chance that you do get food poisoning, do not expect to be treated with the respect you deserve.

The food was good....but that was IT! The waitress was one of the worst waitresses I have ever had in my entire life. Her name was Amanda. I am not sure if she was new or what, but she was an AIRHEAD! It took way too long for her to greet the table, get us drinks, order our food, etc. When we asked for extra things, like a side of dressing or a to-go container, it was ALL forgotten about and we had to ask multiple times. We had to wrap our own food too when other tables around us had their food wrapped by their servers. We also had to ASK about the features of the day because Amanda did not offer them to us when she greeted us at the table. We ended up loosing our appetite. My husband and I are aware of racism and neglect toward certain cultures in the restaurant business because we both used to work in numerous restaurants during college. I dont know if we were treated this way because we are an interracial couple- but it sure felt that way. We even asked a food runner to get us some forgotten items and she never came back either! Clearly the service at Legal Sea Foods has gone downhill significantly. They have a nicer, new location, but worse service! I will not be returning to this awful location. P.s.- THIS interracial couple still gave a 20% tip-- ONLY because we know what it is like to work as a server in a restaurant. It should go to show that ALL people should be served equally. The color of someone's skin does NOT determine how high or low your tip will be.

Been going to Legal's for years, was always a fan of the clam chowder and the fresh warm rolls. The local one was located at South Shore Plaza and over recent years the food and service had slowly become sub-par. Now they've moved across the street to Forbes Road and the transformation is amazing. The new place is really nice, modern and fresh! Clam chowder to start was spot on, perfect blend of clams, potato and cream, delicious. Fish and chips had to be tried, Legal's fish and chips is always served "fish bits" and chips, the only way to get a whole fillet was to order a piece of haddock or cod from the fried section of the menu, the fish was always good but the batter let it down, dry and kinda "breaded" more than battered. Our server tonight came up with the ultimate solution for batter lovers like me, get the fillet battered with tempura batter. Genius! I got the haddock battered with the tempura batter and it was perfect. Can't believe i never thought of it before. If your a fan of the heavy beer batter style then this is for you. The haddock was beautiful, white flaky fish, mild tasting and juicy, the batter crisp and golden brown cooked perfectly. We also had the char grilled haddock with the lemon butter sauce, an amazing piece of fish. Chips were excellent, slaw was also delicious. Service was outstanding, professional and personable. There was a lot of people waiting in line but tables were turned quick so don't despair if you get there and there's a line out the door.

I'm always satisfied when I dine here. For some reason I always walk in with high expectation (expecting fine dining) then I sit down and look around. The food is good but the decor and staff always throws me off. It's a chain restaurant.

Just a bad day, or is it always like this. Mug of clam chowder was served so hot it burned, 10 minutes later it was pretty good. Salad - bitter and tough, a bag of veggie mix from the supermarket is better. Lobster ravioli alfredo - excellent. Courteous, polite and prompt staff excellent. $$$$ to much - no drinks, dinner for 2, no desert $81.

A great restaurant overall! The lobster ravioli and crab cakes were great as was the service from our server Whitney! She knew when to bring refills on our drinks and offered me a recommendation on what to order based on my other menu choices. Great job!

the food was good, the service was friendly. However, my wife and I sat at the bar and ordered drinks. We enjoy reviewing the menu and discussing the different options. Three times the bartender (s) interrupted us to ask us if we were ready to order. After ordering our meal which was cooked just right, the bartender(s) practically grabbed our plates as we were finishing while asking if we saved room for dessert. Geez, we are aware they want to flip the seats, but would really appreciate a bit of patience. We went six months ago and had the same treatment at a table with a waiter but thought we would give it another try. We will not be returning.

Outstanding atmosphere and service. The baked cauliflower is a rock star! The bread and soup is fresh old school wonderful. Stuffed lobster fresh, light with great pure flavor. Spicy fish and chips are correctly prepared with crunch. The tarter sauce is another star with huge dill tones. Loved the experience and great for parties or celebrations!

We started off the meal with a half dozen Duxbury oysters. They were delicious and fresh. I just wished we ordered more! The spinach dip came out nice and hot but the bagels chips used for dipping was a but weird. Maybe fresh pita or pita chips would have been better. My husband and I spit the stuffed trout which was better than I expected. The bar atmosphere was fun and lively on a late Saturday night. I had a favorite, Delirium beer which is not easy to find in the area. Love the new location.

Always a big fan of Legals - frequented the South Shore Plaza and Boston locations. This was a completely different experience from the one that was across the street at SSP. They have changed the rolls, which I used to love. The lobster bisque was mediocre. The 'spicy' fish and chips were relatively flavorless. Also, this is funny... we ordered a bottle of pinot grigio (which was very good). It came with very LARGE white wine glasses (which the waitress came over to fill at least 3 times). After dinner, some ordered a single glass of wine, which came in very SMALL white wine glasses. hhmm.. : )

I ordered a shrimp and sausage with gnocchi for dinner last night. My gnocchi tasted more like tiny pieces of burnt bread than potato pasta like dumplings. The only reason I wanted that dish was all for the gnocchi. Disappointed!! Shrimps were a little too salty and bitter. Never going back again.

After eating at Legal Seafood this past Sunday, my boyfriend and myself both became ill within a few hours of leaving the restaurant. He had fried haddock, and I had the almond salmon. We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer. We are not sure which food was contaminated. 3 days after we reported it, we still have not heard back from a manager. Legal is one of our favorite restaurants, so this experience was very disappointing.

This place is a 100% chain. All there mixed drinks are pre made in massive quantities. Yuk and Way overpriced for cheap liquor I saw with my own eyes as they made these. You Will be shut off after three drinks. Unless you eat a meal not an app. The manager is a huge DICK to bad he doesn't have one maybe he would appreciate a set. Not a friendly atmosphere, from the trouble of hotel guest. Your better of some where else. Very over priced 100% chain

While being an overall fan of the chain, I realize there is quite a discrepancy between the locations I have been too in terms of overall quality, service, and ambience. With that being said, my expectations were high after getting a look at the initial menu of this new and improved Braintree location. And oh my, they were exceeded on every level. I had a good feeling when we walked in and were seated immediately just before the rush on a Thursday evening. The staff was friendly in a non-overbearing way. After getting seated, our server appeared promptly for the drink orders. Despite the impressive cocktail list, I went for a glass of Pinot Noir from Sonoma, which may have been a bit overpriced at $11, but the generous pour made up for it. Appetizers came next, after the mandatory freshly baked dinner rolls. Our party split the Blackened Raw Tuna Sashimi alongside a half dozen Oysters. While they were out of the highly coveted Wellfleet variety, the Cape Cod substitute compensated well, with a very similar flavor profile. The extremely fresh sashimi, decked out in sesame chili vinaigrette, seaweed salad, and wasabi, was presented perfectly. The main course was a tough choice. I opted for the Lobster Ravioli Alfredo, which blew my mind. The ravioli was cooked to a perfect soft bite, and the vodka sauce and basil and nut pesto were an excellent knockout punch. I would have liked to seen a bigger plate, however the generous side garden salad with crisp lettuce, carrots and mouth watering heirloom tomatoes turned out to be a perfect accompaniment. The vinaigrette dressing was excellent as well. I also noticed this LSF also dabbles in the fine art of fried chicken, and my party indulged in the shrimp and waffles dish, which came out decadent. The deboned shrimp was plump, the waffles had a great softness to them without being too Eggo like, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the chicken consisted not just of thighs, but strips as well. I have never encountered that in chicken and waffles dish before. Despite the inconsistency between locations mentioned earlier in the article, I do find LSF's desert menus to be always satisfying. The only thing I regret about the warm chocolate pudding cake served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and coconut almond macaroon was not ordering the recommends port that came with it (Hey, a little bit of pretension never killed anybody.) The service and ambience only complimented this meal, complete with surprisingly pleasant views of I-93 and Blue Hills. Despite the busy Thursday evening crowd, not once did we find ourselves looking around for our very attentive and charming server. People of all ages seemed to enjoy this welcome respite from the more cliche chain restaurants in the area. Legal Seafoods- Braintree/Forbes Road really hits it out of the park.

Legal Sea Foods was a delight as usual on a Saturday night in Braintree, MA. We got our table quickly, was pretty busy but having the reservation was prudent planning ahead. I had the nutty salmon always an excellent choice, prepared to perfection with asparagus and mushrooms. Even drummer Joey Kramer sat next to us as it was obvious he too was enjoying good company and great cuisine. The drinks came quickly followed by the appetizer and main course followed shortly thereafter. Of course we left room for dessert, house special was warm sponge cake with vanilla ice cream on top accompanied by my traditional cappuccino. The evening was a hit and will be sure to visit the "if its not fresh it isn't Legal fine dining establishment.

Business dinner at bar, solo. Tenders seemed busy and impartial. Limited knowledge of beer menu and casually mentioned, as she was walking away, "there are two specials on the upper right of menu", gee thanks. I must agree with comments on price - maybe a bit too proud for the service. I know and respect they are busy, but try not to show it.

Used to love the old location of this place... right at the Braintree plaza... had a better feeling while you wait to be seated... the new place feels more like a fast food restaurant with nice décor... very modern... I guess that's the problem most of the folk's I know don't like that idea... The food was ok, the service was not the greatest... unless you are seated on a booth the tables are too close to each other, I have few waitresses that almost trip down due my leg been stick out a little bit...

I've recently become a fan of Legals - it's a pretty good seafood chain here in MA. I'm from the west coast and we don't have this chain back there so I can appreciate it after having been to a few different locations. It's always consistent and pretty fresh. I had been eager to check out the Braintree location since it looks pretty cool from a distance. It's definitely in an interesting spot across from the mall - a busy little complex but not too bad by any means. My boyfriend and I decided last minute to have dinner here on a Friday night. We were seated right away and our server was pleasant. I've always loved their red sangria - it's refreshing and consistent. For dinner, I tried their crab cakes (I'm a big fan of crab cakes recently). They were delicious and just the right amount of food. WIll I be back? Yes - it's a great choice for the area and I've never had a bad meal or drink there. They are consistently good and fresh.

The service is perfect the place is nice but a dinner for two without any alcoholic beverages should not come to &100.30. That is way to much money. Plus you have to leave a tip because the service is 5 star. The baked stuffed lobster consist of one small lobster with 2 small shrimps and 20 crushed up ritz crackers? Not worth the money.

This new Legal's is more spacious and relaxed than the one across the street at the mall. Martinis were great. Menu is slightly different that the old legals but the food was just as good. When my arctic char was underdone they took it back to cook longer and brought it back to me piping hot and sans attitude. Much appreciated.

Judging from other tips and reviews, this is a new location. We were going to go to the South Shore Mall one, but the mall parking lot looked like a zoo (Thursday before Christmas). We saw this one across the way, and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, this parking lot was no better... We circled around for about 10 minutes. This was at 8pm. We were just about to give up and search for something at the next exit, when a car pulled out right in front of the restaurant. And boy am I glad it did! We walked in, and were seated right away, with no wait, even though the restaurant was packed. I had just picked up my aunt from the Logan Express Shuttle, so I was the "designated driver." Diet coke for me. But the white sangria my sister had, and the fruity margarita my aunt had, were both a major tease. A star for the drinks, and another for being seated immediately. I was torn between the lobster ravioli alfredo, or the seafood casserole. I asked the waitress which one she preferred and she said the lobster ravioli. Done. My sister ordered it too. It came with a side salad with some bread. The vodka sauce with the basil pesto was really good. There was a good amount of lobster meat in the ravioli, AND in the sauce. And it was the perfect amount of dressing on the salad. Not drenched, but not dry. The portions were good too. (I think there were like 7 ravioli?) I hate leaving a restaurant feeling like I'm still hungry, or too full. My aunts swordfish looked amazing, and came with her choice of 2 sides. She chose sautéed kale, and roasted mushrooms. I tried the mushrooms. SO good! A star for the food! The waitress came over with a new diet coke for me, before I had even finished the first one, which was a big thumbs up. I hate waiting for a refill. The only negative other than the parking situation, was after dinner. The girl came over and was thoroughly wiping down the table, but it was kind of uncomfortable. My aunt and my sister and I were trying to have a conversation, and the girl was like wiping it down to the point where I wasn't sure what she was wiping anymore. I feel like that could have waited until after we left. There wasn't anyone waiting for a table, and they weren't closing for another three hours, so I just didn't understand the rush. The bathrooms were really nice and clean. So a star for that, and that it was a cool open-kitchen concept, with the raw bar in the middle of the restaurant. I would definitely come back here, or check out another Legal Sea Foods location after this experience. And I'll be trying the seafood casserole next time, with an adult beverage...

I have been to Legal Seafood before in other cities. For some reason I liked this one in Braintree slightly better. The food, the service, and restaurant layout was all better. Salmon and tuna appetizers were all good. My main course - the Ciapino was very good and good quantity. Partner had the lemon sole - that was my second choice and was highly complimented. So overall very solid rating - not a 5 give star. But solid.

Visited this new Legal's for the first time tonight. The restaurant is nice and spacious, with huge windows along the exterior walls, an inviting raw bat area, and an upscale yet comfortable dining room. Our sever was very friendly, and was able to offer suggestions and opinions on different dishes. All of the food was delicious and prepared perfectly. We started with buffalo shrimp appetizer, followed by chowders. Our meals included grilled shrimp, a crab cake dinner, flounder piccata, and grilled haddock. Everything was perfect and well presented. Will definitely be returning to this LSF location.

Solid representative of the Legal Seafoods brand at Braintree. I like the decor at this location. Was a busy place on a Thursday night but was seated almost right away. Seemed like a split mix of business travelers and locals here. Server was cordial and her thick Boston accent added a nice touch to my Massachusetts dining experience. Food prep and flavor (New England clam chowder and the cod with clams entree) was excellent. Sourdough dinner rolls were great as well.

This place should improve their signage on the street! It's GORGEOUS inside! I walked in feeling underdressed! Anyway, we arrived around 9 and were immediately seated. For app, we ordered a DELICIOUS crab cake, seriously awesome. I honestly can't remember what my husband ordered..something with shrimp and pasta..he liked it. I ordered the lobster ravioli. It was pretty good, however I took off one star because of a cheese sauce or two that was waaay overpowering and had to be scraped off each piece. Our waitress was sweet and prompt. Good night all around.

My boyfriend and I tried out the lunch menu on Friday. The highlight for me was the smoked salmon tartar appetizer with fried capers and egg. It was creative and delicious, I definitely recommend giving it a try. The waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. One thing that really stood out to me was how well the staff worked as a team and helped each other out. I'm craving that appetizer as I type this and will definitely be back soon!

I was with a friend so I did not complain but it was the first bad meal I've had at Legals in 30 years. I ordered my long time favorite jasmine special. This dish was so overcooked that the broccoli no longer looked like broccoli, there was less shrimp than previous dishes and everything was stuck to the dish it was in. Such a disappointment.

My mother and I have been eating at Legals for years. I love the clam chowder and mussels and she enjoys the clear chowder and steamers. We loved and enjoyed our experience at Legals in Copley and the Legal Sea Foods in South Shore Plaza. When the one in the plaza closed and opened across the street, we decided to go try it with my boyfriend. The view was nice and the bar was the same as the old one, full size. We sat at the bar but unfortunately for us, we had a new bartender serve us. We were disappointed they no longer had the oyster specials for $1 (Mon-Thurs, 3-6pm) but we still ordered the mussels, steamers, clam chowder, rhode island chowder, crab and avocado quesadilla, and fish and chips. Before I get to the service, the food wasn't as good as it used to be. The mussels were very small and dry. The steamers apparently doesn't come with extra broth to rinse the dirt off anymore. And the fish and chips was overcooked and dry. The bread for some reason are now hard as a rock and stale. The chowders no longer come in cup or bowl. One size only: mug. Aside the food being lower than usual standards, I was very unhappy about the service. First thing I disliked was how the bartender corrected my mothers english about the word Quesadilla. My mother doesn't speak english fluently, but mind you, it's decent for someone who isn't born in the US. If you understood what she meant then just put the order in, don't correct a customer. I myself am a bartender, and I have worked as a waitress before as well. I noticed the bartender didn't introduce herself or greet us. She also didn't let us finish ordering before she walked off to the computer. I guess she assumed we were all going to order just one appetizer for 3 people to share? My boyfriend tried to order his food and she walked away to grab pen and paper, without saying anything, and he felt interrupted. We finally put in all of our order and some how my mussels ended up at the couple next to me, who ordered steamers. She just stood there blankly instead of double checking with the system and then the nice couple had to hand us the untouched mussels. They asked her if those were steamers, and she stared blankly. You're working at a sea food restaurant and you don't know the difference between steamers and mussels? She didn't even apologize for her mistake or bring the mussels to us. When my mother finally received her steamers, she still had a 5 pieces left in the bowl (obviously not finished) and the bartender asked if she was finished. My mother felt rushed. She didn't refill my boyfriends drink. She awkwardly stood around, looking bored and unsure what to do. She could use some more training about the menu and some social skills to conversate and make customers feel more welcomed at the bar. We will not be returning to this location of Legal Sea Foods.

If I could afford to eat here every night, for dinner, I would!!! From the cocktails & wine to the desserts & everything in between, it was superb!! The service was amazing!! It was a really fun & upbeat atmosphere, with the sassy & loud jazz music in the background. I loved everything about it. I, personally, ordered the lobster bake. It was so good!!! My other 3 family members were thrilled with their selections too! Definitely going back!

If 0 stars were an option, that is the rating I would provide. In addition to having a hovering waitress who INSISTED that we needed more drinks, she needed to reach in front of us to take away plates, wipe the table while we were still trying to eat, insist that an appetizer be ordered, inform me that the bar doesn't stock Roses Lime Juice, asking every 5-6 minutes "is everything ok?" .Should i say it? "No and you aren't,"either". My tuna arrived raw, and it wasn't sushi. The Caesar salad that was ordered never came claiming that she 'thought' it wasn't wanted which prompted 5 apologies. The raw tuna which I sent back, meant that the invoice showed it twice, which meant the waitstaff had to apologize 5 more times.. The menu here at this location is not the same as the Legal at the mall, so don't count on getting what you get across the street. There are 3 good things about this a legal. 1). The parking was ok. 2). Starbucks is right downstairs. 3). 5 Guys burgers are down stairs as well. My cats wouldn't eat the tuna that I brought home from Legal. Expensive meal for a garbage disposal!

If you want delicious seafood- it doesn't get much better than this. Everything is fresh and delicious. You really can't go wrong with your order. My favorites are the clam chowder, Annie's baked scrod, and the cioppino. My recommendation for dessert is the banana foster. They also make a nice sized sangria that is very good. I loved the inside of the old location in the plaza but this is nice as well and the bar area is much larger.

A friend and I arrived at Legals Tuesday 1/20 night expecting a wait. There obviously was one, but we just wanted chowder, nothing too fancy. The host told us it would be 30 minutes, we told him we only wanted chowder and he said there were no tables available. Another hostess approached us and said they had seat opened at their kitchen bar, that overlooked the kitchen but was full menu with a server and that we could get chowder there, no wait. She walked us back and it was great getting to watch the cooks work their magic. After waiting about 10 minutes, no one approached us. We saw the hostess again and asked her if anyone was coming to help us. She apologized that no one had, she then asked a waitress if she could serve us, to which the waitress replied "that's not my turn" and walked away. We then watched the hostess go to the manager and shortly after a waiter (David M.) assisted us and provided us with excellent care, although it was only for some minor appetizers. It was delicious but the fact that we had to wait about half an hour for just cups of chowder seemed ridiculous and left a bitter taste in my mouth. As we were leaving, the hostess (Jamie?) again apologized for the wait and wished us a good night. Thank you to Dave and herself for not totally ruining the night. We will be back.

I went there yesterday with my daughter. Her first time to eat Legal Seafood. My first time after 10 years. The service is very good. No complaint. However, I have to say something to answer my daughter the reason that we can only see Legal Seafood chain store in this area. The food tastes not as good as before. I saw the menu. Most of them are fried seafood. I think that they are too busy to cook good seafood nowadays. The way they cook fried seafood that I can buy at 50% of the price on the seafood booth in shopping mall. Many years ago, I have been Legal Seafood more than dozen times whenever I traveled to Boston area. I did enjoy the taste and the way they cooked seafood. But now, I just support my daughter told me this restaurant is 3.5 stars of yelp review only. Why we need to try the legendary food? I have to agree the taste in that price level worth 2 stars maximum , the service earns one star. The overall experience is 3 stars. I hope the management of Legal Seafood can think of how to make good cook on seafood as they did before.

I visited the new Legal Seafood location in Braintree on a recent snowy weekend day. The setting is so much better than it was in the South Shore Plaza and, if you are fortunate enough to get a booth by the window, the view is lovely. I ordered the fish tacos, which is not something I would typically consider, but it was excellent!! The dish consisted of 3 tacos and a side of rice and beans. I didn't really touch the rice and beans because the tacos were delicous and filling. My companion enjoyed a salad and lobster bisque, also very good.

I was extremely disappointed last night! It was crowded and we were given a fob and told to wait 45 minutes. We managed to get a seat at the bar. We waited and looked at the menu and decided to order and eat at the bar instead!! I finally got a woman to wait on me named Ashley! I stated that we wanted to order drinks and dinner! She took the drink order delivered the drinks and I thought she would take our dinner order and she just continued to wait on other customers! I waited and waited. I than asked her if we could order dinner! She asked me to wait and than I watched her as she proceeded to take orders all the way from the left and finally got to me. Ashley stated she was working her way down the bar! I was so insulted since I had already been sitting there a good 20 minutes while she waited on others who came after! I told her to forget it and I got up didn't finish our drinks and spoke to the manager who offered a $50 coupon. I told her it wasn't about the money that it was the customer service that was insulting and terrible. I had eaten there a couple of days earlier with my parents and was going to go back again for my moms birthday! No thanks!
