Great neighborhood place to grab a slightly upscale pizza. It's not Regina's but it is a solid option. We like the ability to do a half/half pizza. Spicy chicken sausage and Isabelle's are usually the choices. Tend to be very accommodating to families before the restaurant gets crowded. Only complaint is the sangria sounds good on the menu but was very disappointing.

Bibb salad is considered one of the best things I've ever eaten. Pizza is not far off. Sangria was delicious.

I came here on a whim with my family while looking for somewhere to get a quick snack. Our "quick snack" turned into a full-blown meal when we realized how fantastic the menu at Figs was. We ended up ordering the Meatball Sliders, the Brussels Sprouts (as recommended by our waitress) and a pizza which was half Fig and Prosciutto, and half Red Sox. Before our meal arrived, we were treated to some of the best pre-meal bread rolls (in this case it was foccacia) I have ever had - tender and chewy with a delicious seasoning on top. The Fig & Prosciutto pizza was one the best pizzas i've ever had, with a light crust and a blanket of soft prosciutto over a ton of figs and prosciutto - it's massive and definitely worth more than they charge! The Meatball Sliders were soaked in a cheesy marinara sauce that put a lot of the North End restaurants to shame. I've never been a big fan of Brussels Sprouts, but the chef at Figs made me reconsider making them a commonality in my diet - they were SO buttery, and perfect alongside the bacon chunks. The waitresses were all very friendly and eager to suggest popular items on the menu. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have experienced those delicious Brussels Sprouts!

A few of us were starving after completing the freedom trail one evening. Some locals pointed us here saying that they are known for large delicious pizza. Great, I'm in! Oh, and it's by Todd English so that's gonna be interesting. However, in actuality, the pizzas (or flat breads) were only just ok. I got a whole Spicy Chicken Sausage myself while my vegetarian friends shared the Portebello and the Crispy Eggplant half-half. All of us felt neutral about the meal, definitely not bad but not that good either. They're just... regular flat bread with some fancier sounding toppings, meh. The crust was extremely thin and about 1/3 of mine came burnt. Also, don't be intimidated by the size of the pizza. They're not that filling since they are so thin. It's totally ok for a person to order a whole pizza, though the problem is that there might not be enough space on the tables to put them. P.S. If you still see the "free beer" check-in offer, sorry to disappoint you but they're not actually doing it. It's not their fault though. Yelp doesn't allow it.

It is really hard to NOT ORDER the pizza....soooooo good.... But the spaghettini is great, fresh and so flavorful. The green salad with lemon dressing is light and different from all others. Very friendly and relaxing. We are never disappointed and always walk away knowing we will be back SOON.

Outstanding pizza; one was plenty for two of us. Also good vibes in the place.

Great food & service. Bianca pizza with fresh heirloom tomatoes and blueberry salad with Gorgonzola a must try. Can't wait to come back.

Food: They allow you order pizza 1/2 one topping and 1/2 another so I've broken it out below. 1/2 Figs & Proscuitto - Everyting is on top of a crispy thin flatbread in a rectangular form served on an upside town metal tray. Wonderful tang from the balsamic jam balances well against the saltiness from the proscuitto. Everything just melded well together especially the sweetness from the figs that offset the tangingess and saltiness. 1/2 Crispy Shrimp - This was on their specials menu. The crispy shrimp came out smelling great but not as numerous as I wanted. I'm not saying there wasn't enough but they could have been a bit more generous with it. The heavy garlic flavor definitely was the key though and brought everything together. Mac and cheese - Definitely not your average mac and cheese. We ordered this cause we were just curious. This was basically alfredo sauce replacing chedder cheese you would normally use. Tasted amazing. Location: The Charlestown location is not particularly large but there is a small bar and good number of tables and chairs. There was also plenty of people coming in to pick up pizza so this place does a fair amount of take out. Service: We came Sunday for dinner and the bartender was taking care of pretty much everytying. He gave menu, took order, filled our water, served our drinks. Even with tables getting filled up he still did a good job being everywhere at once. Verdict: Definitely will be back to try the other menu items.

Good thin crust pizza at a good price. They have a lot of unique topping combinations. I got 1/2 fig and prosciutto and 1/2 chicken sausage. The fig and prosciutto was my favorite. Didn't enjoy the chicken sausage as much as it was kind of dry and had a crumbly texture to it. Next time I would order the calamari. At $21 it was a good price and enough to share. Place is small but cozy and in a nice neighborhood.

Had to, just had to try it. One of Todd English's first restaurants. So we went for lunch. The food was excellent. Parking was not the easiest to find but circling and circling was worth it. In NY where I grew up pizza was thin crust in a wood burning oven with sauce and cheese just a classic pizza, and we were happy. Not anymore. The Fig and prosciutto pizza was amazing. Who knew you could have pizza with out tomato sauce (ok I knew but it sounded better!) The crust was nice and crisp with a little char flavor which was balanced by the sweetness of the figs with just a hint of salt from the prosciutto. I was surprised to see Brussels sprouts on the menu but they came highly recommended as did the meatballs. A very delightful afternoon.

The meal began with a round of Whale Tale beer on draft and progressed to shared appetizers to including meatball sliders, crunchy calamari with pimiento and greens and Greek salad. Every plate was licked clean. We then placed our entre order and decided to take a photo and write the review. Tom on the far right says: "Home run!" Mary under the Fig logo says: Under the fig leaf..,this is better than Alice's Restaurant... Kyle to Mary's right says: "Now that's a pizza!" Shakti in the far right with the big smile says: Good friends, good food, a winning combo! The Photographer says: Manga! Come one, come all to enjoy good times and great food at Fig!

My husband and I were having a late-night breakdown because after a long day of walking all around Boston, we were too dang tired to go out again for food, no matter how close. Well, we searched and searched and searched and had just about given up because none of the delivery places with decent reviews had gluten-free options. It was quite the frustrating experience because I can't just eat gluten one night and move on with life. I can't eat it the stuff. Anyway, so I finally decided to just start calling places and asking 1. if they delivered and 2. if they could make their pasta dishes gluten-free. Eventually, we got to Figs, and they said no prob. I didn't know it at the time, but you can even order online. I wanted to try that place anyway, so win! It was 30 minutes before close, and they gave us no trouble. The order arrived promptly and piping hot. I ordered the Tuscan bolognese. It was creamy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I can taste the cheesy, meaty goodness now. They managed to make it so creamy and the pasta was so tender that I was actually scared that they might have made a mistake and not given me gluten-free, but they didn't make a mistake at all. They just have skills like that, and I'm glad they do. My husband ordered the chicken oreganato, per suggestion of the worker on the phone, and he said that it was seasoned and cooked to perfection and was actually the best grilled chicken he ever had. Let me tell you, he and I both grill some amazing chicken at home, so that is saying something. My husband doesn't just dole out such compliments for this sort of thing. He said that chicken was the best thing he had on our trip, and we ate a plethora of crazy delicious eats. He did not, however, understand or like the croutons on top, which just ended up soggy and useless. To look at it, I didn't get it either, but the dish looked delicious otherwise. I'd love to go dine in at Figs next time, and I wish I went there over a certain over-priced spot in the North End. The prices at Figs were up there, but no more than any other Italian place in the area, and even slightly lower but with way better quality. Thanks, Figs, for a last minute, late night win! You saved the first night of our trip!

Wood fired pizza and assorted pasta dishes are the specialty here. The pizza is delicious, if not a little too creative in their choices. Chicken sausage pizza was disappointing, however salads and soups were delicious. Service was prompt and courteous, but a little hurried. To be fair, it was early Saturday evening, and maybe they were anticipating a larger crowd later.

Popped in on a Friday night, sitting at the bar. Pretty open. Still like the character of this place - half open pizza stove. Had a diet IBC root beer - LOVE that they offer this. We shared a warm bacon and spinach salad - lots of spinach and full of big chunks of salty bacon. I love their bacon. The bread they serve is SO good - especially w the olive oil they give with it. I had some chicken parm sliders - pretty good. Woulda liked a little more red sauce in them, but they were a good size, good amount of cheese, and the parm was nice and flavorful. We also got some bacony Brussels sprouts. The sprouts were pretty bland, which ended up being balanced out by the delicious salty chunks of bacon. Our bar tender/server wasn't impressive. Not very attentive - made us feel like we were annoying him whenever we'd ask for anything. Food is good, we'll be back

The food and service were average. They got our drinks wrong a few times and brought out the wrong pizza. They did make up by letting us keep it and bringing out a new one but the damage was done already since had to wait. The fried calamari was more fried than calamari and wasn't that good. The French Fries looked like something you buy frozen in the store. The pizza itself wasn't that bad but just a regular pepperoni pizza. The one with figs was a little unique and my wife enjoyed it. The beet salad was not bad but it would have been better to spread the goat cheese around and make it look more appetizing. We got seated right away but the tables were sticky, not sure with what they clean them. The prices were very reasonable. Not sure if I would go back to eat there but maybe just order the pizza to go, if hungry and just want the pizza in the future.

The waitress in Charlestown was so kind. It was a slow day and our group trickled in and later switched tables to get out of the hot hot sun. We ordered half pizzas and she was accommodating with our weird order and drinks. The fig pizza is really sweet. Eat it as a delicious dessert pizza!!

Pros: - Offers easily the best bang for your buck in the area relative to quality of ingredients & flavor combinations vs the actual price. Tried the calamari and Red Sox pizzas so far, don't question if all the ingredients work together, they do. Cons: - Sometimes the flour on the bottom of the slices gets on your hands? You should go if: you like high quality pizza but don't have more than $20 on you at the moment.

Excellent food, they serve a very good crispy pizza. The only problem I had was the place was very cramped and crowded. This joint is really popular and it sometimes feels like people are sitting almost on top of each other.

Definitely a fan of this place. I tend to be picky about pizza because I am particular about the crust. This place nails it for me. I tried it for the first time because there was a coupon on Gilt City, which is usually a good excuse to try a new place to add to my favorites list (or not..). Awesome all around. First stand out was the fried calamari appetizer. So so so good. It's a big portion as well, honestly it could've been a meal for one person if you really wanted it to be. Next stand out was the pizza with a balsamic and fig sauce and prosciutto. Ugh. Magical. Atmosphere in the place is a little noisy and maybe a little cramped as it's not a huge place. There are definitely a few tables that are kinda squished in the corner, but it kinda makes it cosy too =P I've definitely preferred going later at night when the dinner rush has died down. Service has been excellent every time I've gone. Attentive, polite and quick. No complaints there. I'm a fan for sure. Todd English, bring Olives back please!

Great pizza - quality toppings and a blend of crunchy and soft dough. I often come here for pizza and have always had great experiences with the food and service. The pizzas are big and easy to share. The bread and olive oil that comes first is out of this world. I will definitely continue to frequent this establishment.

My wife and I walked in yesterday at around 6:30pm to a place half full.. We stood by the door for about 6 minutes until a guy came in and said we could sit anywhere we wanted. We got a table right by the door, looked at the menu, 13 minutes in and no service... 16 minutes in and no service... 20 minutes in and the same guy came to the table and gave us waters... I told him we were ready to order and we were told that he was sorry for the delay but he couldnt take order as he was the bouncer and they only had one waiter there... Another 12 minutes and nada... eventually we realized the waiter he was talking about also serves as the restaurants bartender, with all the order coming in for drinks, he couldnt handle both the tables and the orders. About 45 minutes + in we had waters and nothing more. We packed our things and headed to Ducali in the North End where we were greeted to friendly staff and were able to place our orders right the way..

Really loved this place! Bread was amazing here and so was the food. We ordered the red sox pizza and the crispy eggplant and both were very unique and very good. My friend ordered the mac and cheese side order and that was almost like an entree size but very very yummy. Will def go back!

You can split the pizzas! So I tried the traditional and the bianco (arugula, olive oil, balsamic, chunks of really fresh tomatoes) for $21. Massive pizza that is easily 4 servings. Pretty empty on a Sunday at 12:30.

Figs is a pretty trendy type of place. I basically went since I had bought a groupon & hadn't used it yet. This place is small so be prepared for it or go during of hours to avoid crowds. This has some really tasty options & being able to get 2 different kinds of pizza is awesome so you don't have to decide on just one. The funny thing about it is how the pizza comes out on an upside down cookie sheet. This is alot to eat for even 2 people so be prepared to bring some home w/ you.

We came in absolutely starved!! The place smelled like heaven!! Sat down to a glass of prosecco and the most yummy focaccia bread!!!! Chicken Parmesan sliders were the highlight of the meal, on point!! Roasted beets salad with pistachio had a delightful taste! So full by the time pizza came but it was also delicious. Sweet sauteed onions, arugala, cheese and red and yellow tomatoes!! Took the leftovers home with me!! Will definitely be back next visit!!

My friend and I were wandering the neighborhood looking for a place to was upon Figs. THE FOod was delicious and service was great. Also has a great good wine list. The ambience is nice, great place to relax with small group. Seems like a lot of locals eat here, so great choice!

They've lost orders and didn't bother to say anything until I showed up. Don't bother telling them you want it by a certain time; you'll always have to wait. Time management isn't their finest attribute. If you can overlook horrible service, the food (especially the pizza) is delicious.

I thought that this was place going to blow me away with all the talk is was getting. Not to say they don't have a good and different product, just didn't impress me as much as it impressed everyone else. The pizza is definetly different that any other place that I have had but with the "coziness" of the tables, it is difficuly to have a private conversation. The staff is friendly but I think the food is a little overprices for what it actually is - pizza.

Really, really good. My husband and I were house hunting and decided to stop by.. They have a location in Beacon Hill, but it was closed for renovations and the time, so we wanted to try out the charlestown location. We got the half fig/prosciutto and half mushroom pizza.. The crust was perfect.. very chewy and service was great. Would definitely stop by and bring friends in the future :)

After a really poor takeout/delivery experience, the manager of Figs did a great job rectifying the situation. As usual, the food in house is great and we had a wonderful time. They have the dining in experience down, and if they are trying to improve their delivery, awesome. I've updated this review a few times, but for good reasons. They are a great place.

I eat here often. They must put magic in the food. I've never been less that amazed at every entree I've ordered. Something as simple as spaghetti leaves me in wonderment. It's small. I think there's only 26 seats in the place or something. It's neighborhood-y on the weekdays. Always packed on the weekend. As it should be. Pretty black in there. Like it used to be a goth club or something. They could brighten up the decor. As long as they don't change the food.

BEST PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD. Ohmygod I seriously love it here. I have gotten the fig and prosciutto pizza and also the mushroom. The mushroom is defiantly my favorite. The truffle oil definetly makes the pizza. I like how they can do half and half for the pizzas. The crust is also nice and thnk and they make it very crispy. It's a huge pizza so it's good for sharing. Or if you order the whole thing for yourself you can have it for the week ;) the salads here are also very good and a good size. Service was very fast and good came out quickly. Highly recommend this place. They also deliver to charlestown after 5pm.

Had an absolutely amazing time here! The food is simply delicious (highly recommend the prosciutto and fig pizza!), and the service is phenomenal. We were in a large group ( 20 people), and were very loud and chaotic, but our server -- Karo -- was a real superstar. Juggling seventeen different orders? No problem. Working through our loud conversations? No worries. Going the extra mile, taking photos and candids for us, before, after, and during the meal? Done! She was incredibly energetic, and a wonderful sport -- definitely ask for her if she's there! She really made the evening special for us -- someone give this woman a raise!

I'm staying at a hotel which according to gps is 1.3 miles away and 7 mins from the restaurant. I called for delivery and they said they don't deliver here. I called back to inform the person that i would be would be writing a yelp review and i wanted to know why they cant deliver 7 mins away and she said that she is sorry, she is just doing her job and that they only deliver in Charleston.

Very small and cramped. Wait staff was ok on the few occasions I've been there. Chicken sliders are delicious. Definitely freshly breaded chicken, and not frozen patties. Mussels were fresh and in just the right amount of sauce/broth. Calamari pizza is delicious. It's about 2 fried calamari appetizers worth of calamari on the pizza for the price of one app. It's a favorite there.

If you order delivery from here never expect it to be on time or to be the correct order. Also they NEVER pick up there phone. It just constantly sounds a busy signal. very poor service.

Looked forward to their pizza since I had it in NY @ the Plaza. Tried to visit the Beacon Street location but their pizza oven wasn't working so ended up in the Charlestown location. Greeted immediately by one of the waitstaff. Restaurant was somewhat busy not swamped - so they were able seat us (party of 5) right away. We ordered: Fried Calamari French Fries Portobello Pizza Roasted Pulled Chicken The calamari was over fried - calamari ended tasting a bit rubber. The pizzas were not as good as I'd hoped - also overdone - ingredients ended up dry and crust slightly burnt. Service was good...just wished food was equivalent.

We went here before heading over to the USS Constitution and loved their food! We all ate off of their new brunch menu and didn't go wrong with any of them. Our favorites were the breakfast flatbread and the red velvet waffles

The pizza is great, but don't order anything else. I ordered the tomato soup and it was white with spinach in it. I also have ordered a caesar salad and it was like a Greek salad with olives. The antipasto appetizer is just ok.

Everything here was outstanding. My father, sister, and I are pretty big Italian-foodies, you could even say we're picky about our Italian choices. . . We left here so full and pleasantly pleased. We tried fried asparagus, beet salad, and risotto to start - yum! In fact, we've had our fair share of mushroom risottos and this one definitely rates in the top for me, the addition of the peas and shaved truffle were delicious! Then on to pizza. . . We couldn't choose between all the flavors they offer, so we got two: one half cheese and half fig &prosciutto, the other half eggplant with ricotta and half portobello mushroom (don't worry, we left with lots of leftovers)! They were so good, we forgot to even stop and take photos! Our favorite was the portobello with caramelized onions. . . My mouth is watering again just thinking about it! Service and ambiance were also outstanding, we even met the new manager, Lisa. Overall: very impressive and cozy, we'll definitely visit again.

This place is a solid 3 stars in my book and that is completely okay. There aren't too many spots to choose from in Charlestown and Figs is a good alternative to crappy, fast food type pizza. But weirdly enough, my favorite thing here is probably the beet salad with any of the pizzas coming in second. And they have a pretty good Bordeaux on hand, too. Yum. Fair warning, the place can feel a bit cramped when it's uber busy and if you get seated by the door in the winter it's probably going to suck. But if you go in with that knowledge then maybe it'll make the experience better. If not, order more wine.

Having a Groupon about to expire to redeem, the fiance and I made our way to Figs on a beautiful Saturday for some lunch. We arrived right around 12:30, parked up the street and walked into a deserted restaurant. There was only one table with 4 patrons and us. Standing there, in the front for a solid two minutes before a waitress finally appeared and greeted us. Shrugging it off, we hoped that their menu and the rest of the experience would help redeem their poor start. Unfortunately that was never the case... Despite the restaurant being near empty and having only two tables to service, we were almost completely ignored. No apologies either, just a very careless staff member who barely seemed to care about the fact that we were here to eat. This was not to be expected from Todd English restaurant - we were kind of stunned to be honest but despite all of that we still powered through the frustrations and looked forward to some hopefully good pizza. That was lived short as our waitress screwed up our drink order and brought us regular root beers instead of diet ones. But that wasn't that big of a deal... We were mostly hungry. I ordered the roasted beets salad ($10) which came sprinkled with some goat cheese. It was very average and the beets were inconsistently cooked. Some were very soft, other bites were hard and there was way too much dressing. My fiance's warm bacon and spinach salad ($8) was good but extremely salty. So far, not good... We then decided to oder up some pizza since everyone on here seemed to claim that it was great - our waitress had told us earlier that we could pick two and they could make one pie with two different halves - we proceeded to do that and selected the fig and prosciutto one and the Bronx Bomber which is essentially a pepperoni one. A little while later it arrived and the pizza's dough was chewy and not so great. As a matter of fact, the fig and prosciutto half was almost uneatable. Way, way, way too sweet from the balsamic and featuring absolutely no balance in the flavors and ingredients. There was barely any prosciutto but way too much fig. Just plain bad. The other half was much better but then again when is pepperoni pizza ever all that bad? Honestly I feel betrayed by Yelp for this one. Everyone raved about it being some of the best (if not the best) pizza in Boston and I can honestly say that not only is the place sloppy, but the pizza isn't very good. I've had much better pizza at Santarpio's, Posto and Gran Gusto. Much, much better as a matter of fact. Better ingredients, better flavor balance and better value as well. This place doesn't just serve bad food, but they charge a lot as well. Some part of me is going to regret not giving it one star but the fact remains that we still ate some of our food and it wasn't the worst experience of our life. However this was a major disappointment and add to the fact that the bathroom was absolutely disgusting and I can honestly say that I still never set food in there again. Todd English should be ashamed for having his name on that menu, and ashamed for running such a poor restaurant.

Lighting speed summary - Good to Great food, don't expect great service. It's not that servers are rude or anything like that, but it seems they really don't pay much attention to customers. Out of water? You'd better ask. You need to place on order? You'd better walk up and tap on waiter's shoulder. You want your check and to-go box for left overs? Well, you guess it. You have to ask. A dude server was a good guy, but he kept on checking his phone for email/txt, and I had to walk up to him to take my order, get my water filled, get my check to pay, and so on. Oh yeah, I did not even get "Thank You" as I've walked out of the restaurant. Good thing pizza was good!

There are few selections in Charlestown for dinner. Had there been more to choose from, we probably would have skipped this place just based on previous reviews, which were spotty at best. But we decided to try it anyway. Upon entering, the hostess told us that they are not currently serving alcohol because something is up with their license and they are working on restoring it. She didn't greet us with a cheery smile or a "Welcome to FIgs!" before delivering this news. Just a deadpan, hardly audible delivery of the facts. OK. We decided to stay anyway. The waiter was slightly more cheery, but mostly all business. It's like someone forgot to tell the people working there that a warm smile and a "Hi guys, how are you tonight?" is welcoming to your guests (and that being welcoming is a good thing). Everyone seemed to treat us like this was an unpleasant transaction and that there was no getting around that, so let's get it over with as soon as possible. Ugh. We ordered the Asparagus Fritta appetizer, which was literally 5 breaded, deep-fried asparagus spears on a bed of mixed greens with some julienne parmesan cheese. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that. Seriously, who breads and deep fries vegetables? We also ordered the iceberg wedge, which was also seriously unhealthy with all the ranch dressing and bacon drowning it. So much for eating your veggies. For the entreé, we ordered the Fig and Proscuitto pizza, which was good, although, it arrived at our table lukewarm and not hot. The fig spread was a bit overwhelming and the whole thing was really oily. The crust was limp and not crisp. I liked the flavor, but the execution was a bit meh. All in all, their menu seems stuck in the 80s. I mean, Warm Bacon Salad with Mushrooms? Hello, 1986! Also, their cooking methods could use a serious update to be more in line with current healthful eating standards. How about GRILLED asparagus/vegetables as an appetizer for example? Last, it was impossible to find their menu on the Todd English website, which really irks me, as I like to check it out before trying a place. Just another example of outdated methods of business. Overall: a half hearted meh.

The fig and prosciutto pizza is AMAZING! I crave visits to Figs when I'm in the Boston area! Pasta portions are huge! The lobster Mac and cheese is amazing but could easily feed 3 or 4. The menu changes regularly but the pizzas are standard. The place is tiny, though there is a function room in the back for large groups. The wood fire oven makes it a cozy place on a snowy winter's evening. You won't be disappointed!

Pizza was good and servings were large, but calamari was only barely passable. No lemon and nearly all breading - almost no actual squid whatsoever. Aoili was also bland. In general I am not confident in the attention to flavor details on display at this restaurant, but it is certainly better than average bar food.

(this would go down to 0 stars if it could) My partner wrote them an email about this awful experience, and never got any sort of reply from anyone. I think that says all you need to know about how concerned Todd English's people are about customers.

When Saturday around 2pm and wasn't busy so we sat right away. Great service and the pizza was delicious, we did half figs prosciutto and half redsoxs. Loved them both. Cheap beers two $5.

I live in the neighborhood and stopped by tonight for dinner after a few months of not going. Not only was the lettuce in our salad completely wilted but the chicken in the chicken parm was burnt. While the restaurant replaced our salad, with a much smaller portion, and didn't charge us for our chicken, the manager was rude and very unprofessional. In front of us and the dinner room he said "what is wrong with them now?". Well sir, the quality of your service and food went down the toilet. I will not be back. There are MANY places that are much better to get food in Charlestown. Try any of them over here.

Simply put - excellent pizza, usually good food otherwise but not consistent and sub par ambience. Seems to me Todd English still relies on his old reputation that everyone was willing to wait or be uncomfortable just to experience his unique food. Well - that's over now - so I recommend either lunch or get takeout. Dinner is just too unpleasant an experience. Use the online ordering as they do not answer their telephone.

This was my first time here and I'm definitely hooked. We loved the pizza and salad was great too. Plus the bread you start off with is to die for. We'll definitely be coming back!

Stopped in after searching area while in town for business. Pasta dish was excellent. Staff (and one pizza's namesake) were open, helpful, and very engaging to all that walked in. Will go out of my way to dine here again.

I've eaten in and gotten delivery so I feel pretty confident in the four stars. We had a groupon-type deal and came here for dinner, the ambiance is adorable and romantic albeit a little small. The food is definitely a twist on classics, so don't be expecting just a regular caesar or chicken. The pizza is absolutely fantastic, last night we tried both the mushroom and the four cheese and the mushroom people loved both kinds, and I loved the cheese. The ricotta is SUCH a nice touch, it really gives it an edge. The crust is thin and crisp but not crunchy, and the sauce is not overbearing. Definitely a great date night, but be forewarned that it's popular for that so plan ahead, there isn't much room to wait.

Been here twice...can't see myself coming back unless every other place in the 20 mile radius is closed and the only thing in my fridge is mustard. I usually take negative yelp reviews with a grain of salt- but the 20 reviewers that complained about the service before me were not being dramatic. you basically have to stand up and wave your arms frantically to get their attention. Now to the pizza....we did a half/half situation. half fig&prosciutto, half special (basically a Hawaiian named something fancier). the fig and prosciutto must have required less oven time or something because it tasted like burnt parchment paper. At first I thought they forgot the Gorgonzola cheese but no- it was just too burnt to taste. So I guess my first pointer is coordinate pizza choices by cook time? or just bully your dining partner into one kind. Now for the tight seating....I get-small restaurant- but if you didn't know any better you would've thought we were a four some with the couple next to us. we were sitting that close. next time I crave pizza I'll probably just get dominos. cheaper, faster, and not burnt?

I love figs but why don't they ever answer the phones! I literally have to call 10 times before someone picks up the phone. Then when I go in to get my pizza it's not even busy. This Sunday I ordered the eggplant pizza which did not have sauce, tomatoes or basil on it, which it's supposed to. How do you forgot the tomato sauce!?

To start with the good - the bread that initially came out was thick and wonderful, and a perfect start to the meal. We started with the chicken parmesan sliders which were exquisite. We then devoured our pizza. I wish I could give it five starts based on the food experience, however, the restaurant was so hot from the pizza oven that I couldn't make it through dinner. They failed to either turn the air conditioning on or open a window. Moreover, after we finished eating, it took almost 20 minutes to get the check and our water was never refilled. I walked outside for some fresh air leaving my boyfriend to pay the check because I thought I was going to pass out. Expect to wait for at least 30 minutes on a Saturday night, but thats not a huge deal and expected in this neighborhood. Overall the food was great, but I will wait until January to return.

With not many options in Charlestown, I have become a big fan of Figs. They have a pretty good wine selection and some decent beer options. For appetizers I've tried the Antipasto which has a good variety of vegetables, but not as many meats as my boyfriend would have liked. The mussels are good, with a really flavorful broth. I'm a big fan of the complementary bread and loved dipping it in the broth. For the pizzas, I really like the Red Sox and the Portobello. Both are huge and definitely enough food for three to four people. I really wanted to like Fried Calamari and while the taste was good, it was just too many toppings for me. The space is very cozy and can get loud on busy evenings. Servers are attentive, but not overbearing. I like to think of it as a good casual, easy date night option.

Figs has seen better days -- the paint on the tables is chipped, there were flies buzzing around the windows, and there's dust on everything. The food wasn't any better. The spaghetti carbonara was slimy and gloppy, and the Red Sox pizza was completely tasteless.

Delicious pizza! Loved the chicken parm slider appetizer and bread pudding dessert. Ambiance is nice, though tables are quite tight when the restaurant is full... it's a bit like dining with your neighbors.

First, does it not bother anybody that Figs really only has ONE menu item with figs in it? Anybody? Why don't you name it what it really is - overpriced gourmet pizza that the servers take way too long to go from oven to table quickly? I have been here twice and yes, I enjoyed the signature fig pizza (my companion however did not, so it's not for everybody). The second time we had plain cheese pizza and the fried calamari pizza. The plain cheese was like any other pizza - perhaps only a slight step up from microwave pizza. The fried calamari pizza though slightly better my friends thought the calamari needed more seasoning and with the leftovers we had everyone tried to get somebody else to bring it home! I agree with the others who have come here excited by the yelp hype only to be throughly disappointed. This review would be one star less if we had not used a groupon/living social which made the bill more reasonable. This is the second Todd English restaurant that I have been disappointed of(the first being Bonfire during a restaurant week a few years ago). Maybe me and this English dude just don't mesh? On the plus side, the bread that they served before the main meal is quite delicious. Side note: On a Wednesday night, the place was hopping and we had an hour and half wait. Service a little on the slow side. Parking in Charlestown is also quite a pain.

Figs is my favorite restaurant in Boston. I've had almost every dish on the menu and have never been disappointed. The pizza is amazing, particularly the Crispy Eggplant, Bianco and Fig and Prosciutto. Caesar and warm bacon salads are delicious and the Asparagus Fritto is do die for. Based on food alone this place deserves five stars, however the service is lacking. Numerous times It's taken over 10 minutes to find a hostess etc. to put my name in for a table, and once seated the staff is not very attentive.

I've tried a lot of their pizzas and I haven't found one I didn't like. I personally like the eggplant pizza, and the portobello pizza. I haven't tried the fried calamari pizza but it's probably next on my list because there's literally a giant pile of calamari on top! The restaurant itself is pretty small, cramped, and noisy. The service is just OK. I'd recommend take-out.

Come for the sticky tables, stay for the slow service! What's going on with Figs Charlestown? We stopped in for an early dinner with the kids. Restaurant was empty but you wouldn't know it from the slow service we received. Pizzas are still pretty legit, but the apps and salads seem to have slipped, and most importantly the charm and hospitality has vanished into the night like Paul Revere. Todd English would be turning over in his grave if he knew what has happened to this once proud outpost.

Based upon online review we walked from the Northend over to Figs for dinner...bad choice on our part. Poor service, limited menu and not very clean. We had serval dirty utensils and a dirty plate on our table. When asking questions about the menu to our waitress she seemed more annoyed and was hurrying to get back to watching TV. My recommendation would be to avoid Figs and head to Boston's Northend for great food.

This place might be good but I wouldn't know. They are not set up appropriately for winter. Would at least expect some type of outer door if Todd English planned on cramming people at near the door at his restaurant. Also they will not allow "you" to make a reservation but they hold the best (warmest and uncramped) table for the those that know the owner. In the winter you are better eating somewhere else.

First Impression: very cute, homey, neighborhood restaurant; love the pizza brick oven. Second Impression: waited over 5 minutes (maybe even longer) for a worker to even acknowledge us. Only one girl on duty, and two kitchen guys at 5 on a Sunday. I will give her the break that maybe it was busier than usual at this time....but she did help the guy in front of us (at the door) without acknowledging us and good customer service would have been to say "I will be with you in a minute" or to tell us to go sit anywhere, which she ended up doing eventually anyways. Once we sat it was another 5-10 min. until we even got menus. Slightly ridiculous. Lasting Impressions: Luckily the food here salvaged itself. The mussels were one of the best I've had anywhere, hands down. Boiling hot, full of flavor, and very unique as well. Only bad thing was the broken mussel who's shell got lost in my dish and nearly broke my tooth, but the dish was so good I can almost forget this tragedy. Wedge salad also a hit. Great options for pizza, and all quite delicious. A great spot, despite the service, food redeemed any bad feelings towards Figs.

I wish i could give this place 5 stars but yes, similar to everyone else's comments, the service is spotty. we walked in and this woman told us there wasn't a table for 6 people when there were at least 5 tables empty. we pointed to a table by the window and said can we all squeeze in here (skinny asian girls) and after looking us up and down she finally said i guess. so we sat down but since there were only 4 of us, she told us that we would have to give up the table and couldn't be served if the rest of the party didn't arrive. so i told her it will be 5 people totale and the other person is parking but we want to order without her. she stalked away. we had a male server who was nice enough. he was busy and left us alone just the right amount. we got two pizzas 1/2 1/2: fried calamari, red sox, spicy shrimp, fig and prosciutto. LOVED the red sox and fig and prosciutto. we also got a pitcher of red and white sangria which was just perfect for the weather and occasion. If you sit at the window behind the bar, it's cozy and not as noisy. it is a small place. the area is really nice and walk if you parked further (parking is difficult as it's mostly resident only)

I may just not be that big of a fan of todd english restaurants - but I did enjoy figs in Charlestown. I guess my expectations were high, but this is kind of a no-frills slightly expensive restaurant. The food was good, not amazing (I got the red sox pizza) - and priced just a little on the high side. The crowd was a little strange - more suity and dressy than I expected. A nice place if you're into a semi-casual kind of night. But I'm usually looking for a fancy night or a cheap night - and this is stuck in the middle.

Here's the letter I sent to Figs just now. To Whom It May Concern, I dined with my partner last night (12/13/2012) at Figs in Charlestown, and the experience was so unforgivably awful that I feel compelled to write. I would like to preface this by saying that I am not seeking any sort of compensation or voucher for another Todd English restaurant. I am merely writing to enlighten you to my experience at this restaurant. We arrived around 8 pm and there was a short wait for a table. The server told my partner we'd be seated in approximately 10 minutes. After standing at the door for another 20, two tables came open and were cleaned and prepared. We were seated at neither of them. Only when another couple came in and was seated at one of these open tables promptly were we offered a table (I had to object that this couple was getting seated prior to us). When we were seated, the couple that was seated at the same time was fawned over while we were ignored. Their bottle of wine, glasses of water, and bread basket were promptly delivered while we waited.... and waited... and waited... We eventually received our wine and placed our order. Our food, which I won't comment on in this letter but will only say was unexceptional, came promptly enough, but otherwise we were ignored. When we wanted our remaining food boxed up, we had to wait over half an hour to get someone to pay attention to us. Getting our bill was another ordeal. Suffice to say, it should be no surprise that the server's tip reflected this (though I'm not even sure who our server was as we never saw the same person more than once). In all, we spent almost an hour of this meal just waiting... The icing on the cake for me was the lack service I noticed other tables receiving. The table to our right had two women that were finished eating when we arrived and were waiting on their wrapped leftovers and bill. They were still waiting when our pizza arrived. The table to our left was the couple that arrived after us, yet was seated before. While they were initially fawned over, their pizza never arrived, and from what I could hear, a good majority of their meal was comped. For Todd English being such a successful restaurateur, I was truly dismayed at this mess of a restaurant. Please, get it together.

My friend and I used the $20 for $40 living social deal. Great deal with enough food to satisfy us for two days. We ordered a starter, a pizza, and a plate of paste. Food was good. For starters, the PEI muscles were plenty and the sauce had that nice kick to it. For our pasta dish, we ordered the clams and pancetta pasta - I didn't think it was amazing; pasta was overcooked for me which was disappointing. Finally, we had the fig and prosciutto pizza. I did not think this pizza was impressive at all. I like figs and prosciutto but on their pizza, I just didn't feel that balance between salty and sweet. I would more then often that a bite and it's just figs and that sweetness does linger on throughout the meal. Overall, a unimpressive pizza. Although, I thought service was great. There was only one waiter on the floor and it looked like he was taking care of the entire restaurant; very impressive although granted, this took him a while to get our bill but he was still able to refill our glasses of water. With a living social deal, I'm satisfied, without it, my review would be lower.

We love the Figs on Charles street, always A+ service. We have never received this service in Charlestown. This is a small place and all the staff seem overwhelmed when its full and cant get out of their own way. Service gets a 1 (after eating here 5 times) but the food gets a 5. The manager is unprofessional and rude which is probably why her staff is subpar. Go to Charles street for the same food and better service.

This place was awesome. We tried going somewhere else but that place was full, which turned out to be d great for us. I ordered the muscles for an appetizer, and then split the pizza between shrimp and calamari..sounds odd, but it was delicious. And the staff is very nice. It took a while to get the bill, but they made up for it with complimentary bread pudding, which was delicious.

A nice little restaurant that has some really tasty pizza. But don't look past the other items on the menu too. I've had some pasta there that was as good as you would find in the north end.

WOOO EEEE This place man.. Friggin' Amazing.. The pizza is superb and the variety is out of this world. Todd English owns this restaurant and you can tell he puts a lot of effort into his unique variety of dishes. Amazing use of fresh and high end ingredients. Also they deliver if you live in the area. But not a bad place to go and grab a pizza to take it home. A++ Go Todd

I work in Charlestown and it's an exercise in self restraint to NOT go to Figs for lunch every day. It's just an honestly nice dining experience. The restaurant is small but cozy, warm, and charmingly decorated. The fig and prosciutto flatbread is my favorite and they make a mean caesar salad (finding a good caesar these days is easier said than done.) The service isn't exactly warm and fuzzy, but it'll do. There are a lot of innovative pizza restaurants around town, but Figs trounces them all without hurting your wallet too much in the process.

Pretty good. They have very creative pizzas. I like their figs pizza - flavorful, a little dry, but not in a bad way. My office manager tends to order pizza from here when she orders pizza for our monthly meetings. I've also eaten at the restaurant once and they had other things besides pizza that were good - soup comes to mind.

I have only been here a couple of times, but love it. Their pizza is the best! I have tried a few different kinds and they have all been equally delicious- Red Sox, Spicy Shrimp, Calamari. I like how they let you split the pizza so you can try two kinds. With such a huge selection of interesting options, it's hard to decide. It's cozy and cute inside with an exposed brick oven. Also very good salads and the sangria is great. I don't feel that the service is excellent but the food makes up for it...

  • Kim S.

Love their pizza. Their namesake fig and prosciutto pizza is delectable. If you get half of that on the pizza and have their portobello mushroom on the other half, you get the perfect pizza. The sweet and salty of the fig side balances out the savory of the mushroom. I've also had their calamari and arugula pizza, which is good though maybe nothing to write home about. If you order late enough, they provide you with enough focaccia bread to start your own bakery.

Figs is my favorite restaurant in the Boston area. Is it the best? I would argue so, but some would probably disagree. With that said, I will not claim that it is the best, but simply explain why it is my favorite, and why you should go. First and foremost, the food is very good and extremely unique. Although their other dishes are great, I would suggest getting the pizza. Some may find that they like the concept of one of the pizzas, but don't like all of the ingredients. Ask your server for a suggestion on switching the ingredient in question! For example, provolone cheese makes a great substitution for the gorgonzola on the Fig and Proscuitto Pizza; this was a recommendation from one of the servers. Another recommendation would be to do a half and half pizza, as it is really nice to try more than one kind. For the complete meal, I would highly suggest a salad (warm bacon and spinach or Boston Bibb) and an appetizer (fried calamari or asparagus frittes) to go along with the pizza. For pizzas, I find the Portobello, Roasted Pulled Chicken, Bianco and Isabelle's to be my favorite, however, I have enjoyed every single one of them! I find that for my girlfriend and I, a salad, an appetizer and a pizza is the perfect amount of food for us (with lunch the next day!!), and it all costs 50-60 dollars with wine or sangria. Another great thing about Figs is the consistency. I have been going here for the past 5 years, and not once have I had a bad meal. To me, finding a restaurant that will be good every time is a keeper, as there aren't many other places that can boast that long of record. If you are deciding on trying the Figs in Beacon Hill, keep in mind that the Figs in Charlestown provides a completely different experience than Beacon Hill. Beacon Hill is smaller, and also more busy. I personally find the food to be better at the Charlestown location, however this may be mental, or affected by the two aforementioned things. Lastly, the location is great. There is street parking, and when there isn't (some nights), there is a lot down the street that charges $7. The ambiance is perfect; although it can get loud sometimes if there is a large party. The solution; dine either earlier 5:30 or so, or later 7:30-8, and this is usually avoided. I would suggest making a reservation, as it does get crowded at times.

4 stars, 5 stars... Am I the only one that was served charred pizza? Or does everyone like it that way? The calamari were very good. The pizza... not so good. And how the Hell can anyone eat with those huge (charred, in my case) pizzas taking up so much room on the table?

Let's face it: Todd English is quickly becoming the Walt Disney of Restauranteurs. Check out his website and you'll see logos for places you never knew existed (unless you've visited every casino in North America, as Todd as apparently gotten in good with some very shadowy elements). Not that the Heartthrob of the Hearth doesn't deserve the square footage. He has established himself as a creative and, thankfully, consistant chef/owner over the years since opening Olives. Anyone who remembers enduring the ridiculous lines and the occassional tears over not getting the kitchen seats knows that very few individuals have had such an impact on Boston's food industry. My concern, when dragging my kids and parents out from the 'burbs last Friday to Figs (his second store after Olives) was that the quality may suffer for lack of focus. I mean, how many kitchens can one man control? Fear not. Figs is as I remembered. Cramped but comfortable. Dark but homey. The open kitchen shares its energy and aromas with the dining area, and the customers barely need a menu, as a glace to the surrounding tables provides all of the inspiration required to order a fine meal. The salads are a bit pricey but worth it. We tried four, along with the eggplant caponata. All were hits, but I was especially impressed by the Scicilian/African flavor of the caponata - surpisingly complex. The vinegarette on the fresh greens was also perfectly balanced. We were 7, so we ordered 4 pizzas: Bianco, Arugula, Bronx Bomber (classic pepperoni) and a 50/50 of the fig/proscuito and fried calamari special. Let me put it this way: the pepperoni, which was good, was the least impressive. When a bunch of picky Italians try so many flavors and agree that every one of them rated high grades, you're doing something right. And when 12 year old kids eat a fig and proscuito pizza for the first time and are surprised that they love it, you understand that English didn't invent these combinations while stuck in traffic. The thin crust impossibly supports piles of toppings (except the sparse 'roni slices, which may explain our lack of enthusiasm when compared to the others). Bravo! Service was attentive and professional, which is rarer and rarer in today's world. And while Main Street in Charlestown was not designed for an '05 Expedition, we found a spot right in front. If you've been to Figs, go back. If you've never ventured, make it a point.

todd english has had some hits and not necessarily misses but real mediocre performances with all his different restaurant in different locations. but i am happy to say the one closest to me is still fabulous. of all the thin flatrbread pizzas i have tried, figs hands down is the best. great combinations, really good flavors, and a very tasty crust. and they taste just as wonderful as leftovers (a huge plus in my book!). the other menu items are just as good and do not miss the bread pudding dessert. sweet without being sickly, a wonderful light texture and a lovely flavor of buttery white chocolate running through it. i shared it with a friend who does not like white chocolate (i didn't tell him that there was any in it) and he loved it! just be prepared for the small crowded surroundings - i tend to like it but others find it too cramped.

I would have given it 5 stars except for one thing. We ate there the first time early in the day--the pizza was the best I'd ever had. It was so good we ordered delivery service to our hotel and the crust (just the bottom) was completely black. It was inedible. We called and they sent us a brand new pizza for free. On the way up in the elevator, we ran into someone else from our hotel that had the same thing happen the day before. Shouldn't they check the bottoms of their pizzas to insure this doesn't happen? It is annoying to try and eat what should be a delicious pizza--and then have to call them and complain. Bottom line though--DELICIOUS pizza...just the plain pepperoni (which normally only my kids eat) was out of this world!!!!

went here for a birthday dinner with girlfriends. all of us loved this place. the space is relatively small, so would not recommend for groups of more than 5. definitely make a reservation -- even on weeknights. their pizzas are all fabulous -- rustic and definitely meant to be shared. the mac and cheese doesn't visually stand out on the menu, but another yelp reviewer raved about it so i found it. wonderful. it was amazing.

Overall my experience at Figs was good. The waitstaff was incredibly polite and attentive but I found the atmosphere to be lacking a bit. I thought the IKEAish photos and paintings on the walls were a little lame and the seating was very snug. Prices were fair dessert was delicious. I recommend the chocolate chip cookie sandwich with strawberry sauce. YUM. Also their fried calamari was cooked to perfection- the breading was light and it arrived hot and crispy to our table. Only complaint was that there was too much sauce drizzled on top. We are going to be sure to ask for it on the side next time. Pizza was good although a tad on the greasy side. I will definitely go back to Figs!

Taste the Italian roots of Todd English, who also owns Olives, with his signature thin crusted pizza topped with figs and proscuitto. It's the perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness.

Good gourmet pizza. My fav is the portobello za. and the warm bacon spinach salad. Standard Todd English atmosphere, I like this place the best out the 3 TE trademarks; Olives, Figs, and Rustic Kitchen. I also really enjoy walking through this neighborhood.

It's been awhile since I've been there, but I wanted to write a review anyhow. I really liked this place. The atmosphere was quaint, the service was excellent, and the food was spectacular. Had the calamari ( nicely breaded, not too chewy) and the caprese salad to start off with. Both were really good. Then we moved on to the entree- crispy eggplant pizza. One of the best pizzas I've ever had. Light, crispy dough, just the right amount of tomato sauce, the eggplant was cooked just right, and how can you go wrong with fresh mozzerella and basil?! The wait staff was very attentive. The drawback- our table was right in the front of the restaurant. I took the bench seat along the window sill. Not too much room to maneuver around, and during the wintertime, it gets VERY cold at that spot. I had to use my winter coat as a blanket to keep warm. A great place to go if you're in Boston, and if you're a Todd English fan. I also enjoyed Kingfish when I was there, and Olives is a great restaurant, both in C-Town and DC. It's restaurants like this that make me miss Boston.

I will keep this short, very cozy, dark ambience and small restaurant. This is where it gets interesting, I ordered the Fig & Prosciutto pizza, great tasting pizza but the taste of fig can get over-bearing and the next morning can get interesting. Let's just say there were a lot of figs in this pizza. WARNING: Get Rid Of Constipation with Figs: Consuming two fresh figs or five dried figs every day eliminates the most stubborn and chronic cases of constipation. Figs increase the frequency and quantity of bowel movements and decreased the transit time of stool.

Went here on a Fri night for a romantic cozy dinner. The place has great ambience...Brick walls, fire burning in the oven, and the place is just small enough to make things cozy. I ordered the white sangria..it was so-so in that it was sweet and tasty like a lemonade, but didn't really come with the sangria 'punch.' the fried asparagus app is really good with the arugula salad and aioli. We order half portabello mushroom/half figs and prosciutto. Unfortunately, the figs will do a number on your stomach the morning (and possibly even longer) after. I may try this place out again, but may stick with the classic margarita next time.

Their signature fig and prosciutto pizza is reason enough to get myself over to Charlestown. Figs would get five stars from me, except for the fact that every time I've been there I've had to wait a while for a table, even when I had reservations. The waitstaff seems friendly but overly busy, especially for such a small place. One word of advice: two pizzas is WAY TOO MUCH FOOD for three people, but does leave room for delicious leftovers. Just sayin'.

Went to Figs for dinner last night. Had beet salad followed by tagliatelle with a bolognese sauce. Both were very good. The pasta was piping hot when it was placed on the table. The restaurant is small but very welcoming. Great food for the price. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

I'm an "Oliver" girl married to a "Bronx Bomber" guy. A pricey slicey for sure, but worth it for a special treat. The key for me is the t-sauce, I love it acidy and with a good bite. Happy every time.

I had tried few of the best pizzas there. Highly recommend figs with prosciutto and portobello pizza. Their spaghettini is simple, but amazingly flavored. I was surprised and blessed finding this cool place.

My favorite restaurant in Boston.. great atmosphere, food, service. Be sure to make reservations as the place is very small. They don't take reservations after 5.

Figs is a great place for a simple but very tasty meal. The pizza's are great. Nice house salad and good beer selection. Service decent. Nice location in Charlestown as well. Spicy Shrimp is my favorite but don't think you can go wrong with any of the pizza's. Its worth a try if you have never been.

I make it a point to visit one of the Figs' locations every time I'm in Boston. The Fig Proscuitto pizza is out of this world! Both restaurants are intimate, have great service and the pizza is absolutely the most delicious I've had. The thin crust makes it easier to eat more!

wow - love the pizza at figs! of course i had to go with the fig and prosciutto pizza, given the name of this restaurant and the fact that i love figs. it was awesome! we had half that, and half spicy sausage. both kinds were very delicious. pretty good service, extra points for the fact that my friend's pizza toppled onto the floor by mistake (shaky table) and our waiter promptly brought a new one. i would love to go back and try more kinds of pizza, or something else on the menu - everything looked great!

Atmosphere is great. Quaint and beautiful section of Charlestown. A truly picturesque bistro in the midst of an historic town. I would order the Bianco pizza again but I would definitely half it with something else. That pizza alone is overkill and basically a lemony vinaigrette salad on top of a crispy pizza crust. It was fresh and delicious but I needed some more sustenance. If I can give any advice having had most of their pizzas at this point, the complex ones may sound great but stick to simplicity; Olivers and Bronx Bomber are great. The Spicy Chicken Sausage pizza has too much riccotta cheese and takes away from the other ingredients. Also, I would stay away from the Pappardelle with short rib pasta, it was extremely saucy and overpowered by numerous things throughout each bite. Most of the time it was orange peel zest or a chunk of garlic that I would taste before anything else. The pasta was overcooked and thus mushy and barely there. I was hoping for a chunk of pork rib but alas did not get it. Definitely not a favorite of that pasta dish. However, I would go again. Figs is worth it for the atmosphere and the unique pizza which is noticeably refreshing and plays with your imagination.

Great neighborhood restaurant. The waiters are so nice and the food is consistently good. The complimentary bread basket with oniony focaccia is delicious. I sometimes get the Isabelle or four cheese pizzas, and the Tuscan pasta bolognese is tasty and unique, but I usually get the specials and I'm always satisfied. I've recently ordered the cornmeal gnocchi, polenta with tomatoes, and parmesan pea salad; it makes me sad that these dishes aren't always on the menu! My one complaint about this restaurant is that the a/c is really iffy during the summer, and that's not a good thing when you're in a tiny restaurant with a brick pizza oven. Luckily, they do take-out (and they pack that delicious focaccia with it!), so if the a/c is on the fritz, I can just bring my meal home.

I found Fig's in Charlestown through some family friends and I will be sure to be back the next time I'm in town. Its a great historical neighborhood with amazing pizza. There are only a few places in California that compare

love the menu but the space was a bit too congested in a touristy way...not the same feel as the NYC restaurant congestion where you accept it because you know how much space costs and it is done in an elegant way. this was more like, "let's see how many tables we can cram into this cold, hard, space."

Ah Figs...one of two Todd English babies in Charlestown...Not sure where to start here but having been here two times and tried many options on the menu I would say it is decent at best. The pizza was tough (stale tough really weird and hard to chew) and there was so little sauce on it, there was almost no flavor! The pear salad is delicious though, I would recommend that. Then to desert, it was also a bit stale and lacked any real flavor. I usually always say I will only have a bite of dessert and then end up devouring the whole thing, well here, I really was fine with just one bite becuase it was so bland. On another trip I had the butternut squash ravioli and they were ok, but not spectacular. The real pain in the butt about this place is the staff. Both times I have been here, the waitstaff forgot to bring silverware, drinks, wine, and then forgot to come back for our check. Be warned, small eating area with many people waiting plus a slow kitchen and staff means you will be here for a while. At least an hour and a half I would say (thats what it was for me both times). Would I go back? Maybe because it is close to my apartment, but only if there was too long of a wait at Todd's other baby, Olives.

I was a fan of figs pizza since 2003. I always carried out but yesterday we were in the area and I suspected there would be a table and there was. We walked in right behind another family and the waiter told us we had to wait for a table after he immediately seated the first family and there were a few empty tables sitting around. I put my son on a barstool because he is an active three year old and the restaurant is small and my brother tried putting my daughter on the stool next to my son which was covered in water and so that is where my daughter's enthusiasm dropped really low. We apparanetly just had to wait for him to pour water for 2 of the 4 of us because as soon as he did he seated us. Every other restaurant let's you sit while they pour water but whatever. We knew what we wanted to order and my brother went back to the car for a dry change of clothes for my daughter after the waiter did not take our order. We assumed he would ask any minute but he actually waited til my brother returned before taking the order. Both kids were pretty hungry! Thankfully they brought the kids pizzas first. I ordered the fig after changing my mind a few times since we had to wait so long to tell him what we wanted. I suspect either of the first two decisions I made would have been better than the figs with prosciutto. I don;t remember disliking it or any other type of pizza from the carry out but this one arrived looking overloading with figs and little to no sauce or onions or cheese. The figs were not cooked and the balsamic was just splashed over. A total joke. If the waiter would have asked how the food was I would have asked to switch it but since were were just frustrated and hot (no air conditioning, hot summer day, fire oven running) I did my best to eat it. The crust was flavorless and burnt. I wonder if there was a new cook? Whatever. I will not be back. No one even answered the phone when I called at noon just to be sure they were open. I had to call beacon hill to verify the charlestown hours. We ended up stopping off at olives in city square just to use the rest room a few hours later and that was a really friendly atmosphere. Their hostess was on a cell phone but the bartender was very friendly and I wished we had gone there instead. Maybe the air conditioning makes people happier and friendlier, more helpful? It was pretty miserable at figs. I will forever go to California Pizza kitchen in cambridge over figs. My brother did enjoy every bite of his pressed cuban sandwich.

New favorite obsession. Since cheese and I are not really friends (unless it's of the goat variety), I don't jump and run out to pizza places all that often - actually never. However, this is no standard pizza place and it's worthy of me forgetting how much cow's milk and I don't get along for one night of heaven in the mouth! We had out of town visitors this weekend and they don't share our track record for indulging in expensive food. So I figured this would satisfy their less-adventurous palates and wallet-conscious habits. Two of our other friends joined us as well and we ended up in a long table, right in front of the oven. Great spot, although things got a little warm by the end of the night. Wine selections were great and our waitress was on the ball by letting a friend know that a cheaper white was better than what she originally was ordering. The featured sangria was also great, not overly sticky or sweet. Bread - FABULOUS. Generous foccacia squares with garlic roasted on top. Our table got the Asparagus Frites (arugula and a lemon aioli dressed the plate) and it was amazing. We also got the Garlicky Brushcetta and only having tried the bread (too overcooked) and greens - it was good, but I wouldn't bother reordering. Entrees - Simone (schmancy Mac'n Cheese with Orzo) went over extremely well with a friend who is not super adventurous when it comes to food at all. Husband did the "test" and Fig's passed with flying colors for it's Chicken Parm. Four of our friends got a pizza with 1/2 being pulled chicken, pesto, Gruyere and onions and the other 1/2 was tomato sauce, arugula, fried calamari and aioli. I tried the latter and was impressed. I got the special fish entree for the evening: trout that was cooked perfectly, dressed with vegetables and seasoning and sat on a huge portion of pea risotto. LOVED every morsel of it and wasn't too happy about sharing any of it! My belly wasn't too happy the next day, but it was worth it! Down sides: No reservations for parties of under 8, which with it's super small space can cause a problem. We hit the Warren Tavern though to pass our 45-minute wait. Other big no-no, our pizza came out a good 10-15 minutes before the other entrees and the waitress looked shocked when she found out. Someone else brought it over and it was just bad timing. Not a biggie when your big group enjoys each others company, but could make for awkward moments in other mixed crowds. Otherwise - I'm a big fan and can't wait to explore other items on the menu.

Someone said Figs wasn't Regina's. Thank god it's not! I've been to Figs a few times now, tried a few different types of pizza, and can thoroughly say, it's GOOD stuff. Not just good. GOOD. The last time I went, a few weeks ago, was with my two sons, my friend and his son. We didn't think to place a reservation - we're just going out for pizza, right? - and were surprised when the hostess said all the tables (that were currently empty) were spoken for. To make do, we could sit at the bar. Except minors can't sit at the bar, even if they're clearly too young to even try to drink - thanks Puritan forebears. After some running around, the hostess found one table, way in the corner, that a party was getting up from. Not enough room for all of us, but the boys would fit. So the boys sat at a table and had cheese pizza, and the guys sat at the bar and had the spicy chicken sausage pizza. Perfect! Jeff W's description of the crust is spot on. Thin, not crackely but not flimsy either. Delicious.

Having seen Todd English on Food Network (and other food porn productions), I've been curious to see what he does/inspires/directs in his restaurants. After being told about the marvelous pizza from friends, had to give it a try. I was surprised by the small size of the place. They certainly do a brisk take out business. The rhythm of the place was that of a neighborhood pizza joint with an upscale, self conscious chicness. What is really comes down to is the food. Started the evening with their wonderful bread, and then went straight to pizza. We ordered the crispy eggplant. When it arrived, I was pleased to see the tell tale signs of a wood oven pizza....bits of darkened crunchy crust. There was sauce and bits of breaded eggplant and whipped ricotta. It was very good, but I thought was rather skimpy on the eggplant and ricotta. Still, what we had was beautifully prepared and cooked. Look forward to going back and enjoying more of the neighborhood vibe and their pizza!

It's like this entire restaurant did too much ecstasy years ago. I will say that the food (fig and prosciutto pizza and strawberry salad were good -- like 3-4 stars for the price), but Christ, everything else about this place sucks. The waitstaff were totally inattentive and disorganized, and a perplexing trainwreck of loud, shitty club music and Nickelback-type buttrock from the 90's was blaring. Thanks to Groupon for making it only a $28 mistake.

Gourmet pizza tucked away in the South end of Charlestown. The dining area is moderately sized but nice, with a small bar included. Table service is a little more upscale - cloth napkins and full flatware. I had a spicy chicken sausage pizza with caramelized onions and ricotta. The food was excellent and price was acceptable, around $10 for an individual sized pizza. The service was also very good - efficient and accommodating. Figs is a well-rounded place!

My friend and i headed out to dinner in beacon hill last night and had gotten our reservation messed up so we ventured across the street to figs on a recommendation from a friend. What a cute place! figs is definitely small, but a cozy little spot to have dinner and catch up with a friend. We ordered a bottle of wine (not super expensive). She ordered pasta with short ribs and I got a pizza (half fig/prosciutto, half calamari and hot cherry peppers). The pizza was HUGE and was definitely made for at least two people but hey, who doesnt want leftover pizza? The fig/prosciutto half was good but not amazing which was kind of disappointing since that was the pizza that i was told i absolutely had to try. the calamari half was also solid but not amazing. definitely worth the money (since there was so much calamari on it) and quite tasty. If I could give this place 3.5 stars, I would, but i'm going to have to round down to 3 for now.

great food, service and value. That said I found the pizza to be too oily. I ordered the Special 'veggie pizza' and it was great otherwise, but would not recommend it after seeing other peoples selections. I recommend Figs if your on Beacon Hill, if not go to 'Picco' in the south end, its just a notch above figs in terms of quality.

I've been to this location as well as the one in Beacon Hill and they are both awesome. Charlestown is larger, so if you're going with a few people i'd go here vs. Beacon....I don't even like Gorgonzola and the Fig and Gorg pizza is amazing...salad are super good to. 5 stars!

Great restaurant! Service could be a little friendlier however the food makes up for it. Probably the best calamari around - as an app or on pizza! Also, meatballs sliders are very tasty. Have to say my favorite pizza is the prosciutto and fig.

They have the best bread and olive oil for dipping here. Their pizza is fantastic and very reasonable. Warm Bacon & Spinach Salad is a good dish for a starter...We got half & half - red sox and Bronx Bomber. Both are delicious. We brought our own organic wine(Madonna Estate- my fav wine) because it was a special occasion and they were so nice about it. I've been here a couple of times and their service has always been great.

The fig & prosciutto pizza is amazing as is the warm bacon salad. This is my favorite place to stop in for lunch or dinner when I am in Boston. Todd E needs to open one of these in NYC. Batali's Otto has nothing on Figs.

If I were being accurate I'd really give this place 3 and 1/2 stars, but since 1/2s aren't an option, I'm gonna have to give it 3. We went because I had a Living Social deal. WITH the coupon, this place was totally worth the $$. Without a coupon...not sure if I'd go back. The restaurant is VERY small. We were practically on top of the people next to us. I thought this was going to be more of a sit-down restaurant since it has Todd English's name, but it's really more of a slightly fancy pizza joint. We sat down at the only table left in the crowded joint, and the waitress said "I've only got one menu left, sorry." We waited a few minutes. Ordered wine. She came back and slammed it down on the table in small, stemless glasses that spilled on the table a bit. She asked if we were ready to order and I said "Um...I'm actually still waiting for a menu!" (duh) She seemed pissed. Guess I should have shared, but my boyfriend was hogging it. Finally I got a menu. We ordered the fig and prosciutto pizza and the special jumbalaya risotto. The pizza was HUGE, which is probably the best thing about this place. It was yummy, but nothing amazing. I've had better "gourmet" pizza elsewhere. I felt it could have had a little more flavor. The risotto had nice flavor and chunks of lobster as well as scallops and shrimp. My boyfriend felt it was undercooked. I thought the lobster was rubbery. Still---both the pizza and the risotto were $20 each. Not bad food for the prices, and after the coupon (I paid $20 for a $40 coupon) it wasn't a terrible deal. $8 a glass for the mediocre tiny glasses of wine didn't really impress me, given the atmosphere of the joint. All and all I just think this is a very average establishment. The best thing about it, as I mentioned before, is that you get large sized thin crust pizzas, and that it's set in a lovely Charelstown neighborhood. If you live in the neighborhood, check it out. If not, it's probably not really worth the trip.

Summary: HUGE pizzas, delicious food, OK service, but fruit flies above our table. Also, don't come if you're claustrophobic. Classier than your average pizza + more restaurant, and with many other differences. For example, their pizzas are enormous. I went with three friends and we shared a pizza and a salad, and it was more than enough food for all of us. Like any other restaurant, they started with bread. I'm a bread person, and I think this might have been some of the best bread I've ever had at a restaurant. Instead of just olive oil, they have something -- I think vinegar -- in there as well, and if you get all of it, it's amazing. They needed to bring out more bread for us. I highly, highly recommend the apple salad. It's sweet, as you'd expect based on the ingredients, but not overpowering. It's a little small if that's all you're having, but I guess that's why you order pizza as well. The pizza we ordered was half fig, half fried calamari. The fig half was sweet and very filling because of the goat cheese. It worked amazingly well. The fried calamari half was absolutely loaded with calamari. You could have made a meal and a half out of just the calamari itself, never mind the rest of the pizza! The hot peppers, lemon aioli, and arugula complemented the calamari very nicely. They also have deliciously sweet bread pudding with ice cream if it's your birthday! It was so good that I think I'd take that bread pudding over plain chocolate cake. The ice cream on top was particularly creamy. There were only two problems with the restaurant as far as I could tell. One was that the seating was very crammed, but there's not much they can do about it because it's a small restaurant size-wise. The other problem, which was more of a problem for me, was that there were fruit flies around our table. Granted, we went on one of the hottest days of the summer and our table was close to the kitchen, but fruit flies are never appetizing. I would come back here in a second!

I'm changing my review! I LOVE this place! For a while, management did change with new and less attentive staff, but not anymore! Some of the old staff is back and they rock! I went here the other night with a girlfriend, and we ordered their pizza. We started off with calamari appetizer, which to warn you is a HUGE appetizer - enough to feed 4! For pizza, my fave in order below: 1) Fig & Proscuitto (by far) 2) Spicy Chicken Sausage 3) Bianco 4) Portobello 5) Butternut Squash (seasonal) 6) Red Sox Bomb Those are only the ones I've tried, but you really can't go wrong with any pizza. Go for the half and half, because you can mix it up a little, and the pizza size is HUGE - enough to feed 3! Expect to bring home leftover pizza if you're out with 2 people, and believe it or not, it still taste great the next day! This is definitely my fave pizza in Boston!

Figs has become one of those staple places you find and immediately throw in your back pocket. You find yourself there when you don't feel like heading into the city and your only other options are Max and Dylans (Gross +1), or Tavern on the Water (Gross+100). The Bistro and Olives are great too but expensive, so I will save those reviews for another time... I will get right into it... The Pizza: Pizza is what Figs is for and Pizza is what I get when I go to Figs. Figs Pizza isn't really pizza, but I won't let the details get in the way of a good story. The crust... Ok, remember, don't go here thinking you are getting NYC (or better yet, Upstate NY) pizza because that is not what it is. Like I said, it's not really pizza. But what it is, is delicious. It is a crust made of whole wheat flour and AP flour which basically results in a crust that is not chewy. It's not quite crackery, but it holds the toppings with no droop and crunches on the first bite. It is very flavorful right out of the oven, and if you are so lucky to have a little extra **Kiss** of char on the crust, your experience will be that much better. The toppings... I have tried them all. They are all creative and have good flavor. Some I would order again before others, but that is based on personal preference. The Fig and Prosciutto is the renowned flavor, and although my official favorite, I wouldn't hesitate to leave it off my plate on my next visit to try others. I am going to leave the rest of the details out so you can make up your own mind... The Service: It has never disappointed. The place is small and the layout has no option but to be cramped, but it works... Not sure if it is because your neighbors pizza is closer to your plate than yours, or if it is the brick oven and dark walls that are so soothing, but it works and I love it. I have one recommendation and I hope Todd English himself is reading... (or anybody from Figs will do)... On blustery, cold nights the two window seats and seats across from the bar are seriously uncomfortable because of the draft that screams in when the door is opened. Keep your overcoat on uncomfortable. Please consider a small draft curtain to help that... Thank you!!

Anybody that gives this place less then 4stars don't know nothing 'bout nothin'. Figs is excellent - and that's just the food. Tucked down the quaint streets of Charlestown, it has loads of atmosphere. Granted its tight quarters, but when you are inhaling their pizza because of how delicious it is, you won't care. Go for it - you will not be dissappointed (and it won't break the bank).

Got the mussel as appetizers. = Yum! I love all things garlic. I love that there are chunks of tomato in it. I love that you can soak up the bread in the sauce and eat it. Pizza: We got the signature Fig and Prosciutto pizza and mushroom pizza. Both of which were really, really good. I've had better crust but overall, still amazing!

Loved it. I went searching for the best pizza in Boston, and I think this is it. The winner for us was the crispy eggplant, the roasted chicken was good too but I found a chicken bone in mine! Beware! The bread that comes with your meal is awesome- it's actually cut up pizza dough. The fig/proscuitto looked like the other winner. It's a large pizza- enough for plenty for 3.

This is the first time that I went there. I like that Todd English eats a lot of different native foods in the various cities that he visits in everyday places, so I was anxious to see what he would do with pizza. I was impressed. We started with the mussel appetizer and it was quite different from any other mussel app that I have had. They were cooked in a rich mixture that included tomatoes, capers probably balsamic vinegar. They were topped with croutons that were drenched in the tomato mixture. The mussels were very fresh and the dish was delicious. Next, we had a half calamari, half fig and prosciutto pizza. The fried calamari atop that half was the best I have ever had. The fig and prosciutto was different and also delicious. The prosciutto was trimmed just right with just a small edge of fat and the fig spread was a nice contrast. I seldom compliment chefs, but I did compliment the pizza chef as it was obvious that he takes pride in his work. He was modest but I could tell he liked being recognized. We finished with a bread pudding that was made with a cake like sweet bread. It was topped with caramel sauce whipped cream and a strawberry. Very rich and again a nice variation from the usual presentation. I am a big fan of Frank Pepe's pizza, but I have to say that the amount and quality of the ingredients that we got in the Fig's pizza we had, was much greater than what you get in a similarly priced Pepe's pizza. Bottom line not cheap but a good value considering what you get.

I remember going here on a date a zillion years ago and thinking, wow this is seriously incredible pizza! I was a sheltered NH girl and this was nirvana. Fast forward to me being a busy mom in the burbs and a friend invited me to lunch today at Figs and I said "Hell ya!" It was the first time I have eaten here in easily 15 years! The meatball slider app was unbelievable...Warm Bacon & Spinach Salad W warm bacon vinaigrette oh i forgot to mention the warm amazing foaccacia bread with gourmet olives in olive oil. Then cam the warm spinach salad w huge chunks of top notch bacon...OMG. Lets just say i was already stuffed and the main event had not been delivered! We split a pizza...my side had Fig and Prosciutto crisp rosemary crust with fig and balsamic jam, prosciutto & gorgonzola cheese - my friend ordered the Red Sox which i can't find a descrip online but it was amazing! sausage, red sauce, some greens and very light and tasty,. Finally out server was polite, prompt and sweet....overall a great experience and i cant wait to go back! I remember eating at Olives the first year it opened and feeling like i was a part of something special...and I was RIGHT!

Figs might be my favorite pizza place in Boston. It is tiny and sometimes very hot inside but the pizza is unbelievable! I have yet to have a bad pizza! My recommendation is to get the Fig and Prosciutto pizza - I was hesitant at first but some woman at the next table over from me gave me a slice of her pizza and it was AMAZING. I also highly recommend the Red Sox pizza and save room because the bread pudding is ridiculous!

I love Kingfish Hall in Boston and Blue Zoo in Walt Disney World...two other Todd English restaurants. People who want to sound cool make fun of me for loving such touristy places...they need to understand that Todd English has as much to say about these places as Tiger Woods has to say about the design of a Buick. They all have their own executive chefs who have control over the menu and, like any other restaurant in Boston or anywhere else in the world, can be really good or really bad. This one is really good. Maybe I'm old school, but pizza should be sliced in a triangle, floppy, greasy, and cheesy. Don't go to Figs for pizza if that's what you're looking for. I don't have a name for what Figs makes, but it's not pizza. It's awesome...but it's not pizza. This place is cheaaaaaap...for mussels as an app, then a huge pie with all sorts of weird toppings for dinner, then white chocolate bread pudding for dessert, and a couple of drinks, our tab was $45. You can't beat that. And everything was delicious. I'd highly recommend Figs and will be visiting again.

There's a puddle of drool forming in my mouth as I even begin to think about their fig pizza. The salty prosciutto and the sweet figs and tangy balsamic vinegar cannot be matched. The flavors just pop! I've also had a few of their specials, one was a pasta dishes that had a super spicey tomato sauce. Overall you can't go wrong with the pizzas. I will drive from Waltham to Charlestown just to get some....awww yeah.

Great Pizza, great pizza, great pizza. Owned by Todd English, it's high-quality ingredients meets a tested recipe for success in a storefront that is incredibly teeny, but offers a nice atmosphere nonetheless. Food - Great. Flatbread pizza, freshest ingredients, unique sauce. Fabulous pizza combos. The chicken I had was a bit dry - but shoot, chicken dries out in a brick oven! The other menu items are high quality too. Service - Meh. Could have been better, but what can you do. The one girl working there wore no uniform and was clearly the girlfriend or wife of the chef, and seemed patently uninterested in serving customers. The chef was friendly and accessible though, and served the pizza straight from the oven onto the tables. Decor - Tiny place, big feel. You know it's small when you have to suck in to sit down! It's understated elegance in a really small space, but they maximize their floor. Crowd - The uzhe. C-town ladies who lunch, tourons, and work folks. Nice quiet group. All in all, a fantastic little grotto for pizza!

We have ordered take out pizza from the Beacon Hill location several times and really enjoyed it. We had a groupon to this location and we were very disappointed. The fig pizza was good as usual but the shrimp pizza was just okay and the salad was drenched in dressing and awful. I actually requested the dressing on the side but our waitress discouraged me from doing that and said the dressing would be very light. We could hardly eat the salad due the amount of dressing. I can't imagine what the regular version is like if the "light" amount is this heavy. The service was terrible overall and we will not be returning to this location.

I love this - thin crust, fresh ingredients, unique topping combinations (perhaps everything deep dish pizza is not?). We came for a later dinner (9pm) on a Saturday and didn't have to wait. Started with calamari as an appetizer, which was really well done and came with the legs (my favorite part). It came on a bed of arugula that worked nicely with the calamari. We got two pizzas with four different toppings: figs & prosciutto, portobello, Red Sox and bianco. Everything was delicious, my favorite was the bianco, which was a little hard to eat with mounds of free floating arugula and large chunks of red and yellow tomatoes, but very fresh and yummy. The portobello was a little too garlic-y for me, but the mushrooms were good. We were planning on getting dessert, but ended up too stuffed. Maybe next time.

LOVE it! Amazing pizzas, great wait staff, cozy.... sometimes a little too cozy! It's a tiny place so you may have to wait a while on busy nights but they're nice enough to give you a call while you're having a drink at the bar down the street. I've NEVER been disappointed with the food here. NEVER! and the prices are GREAT!

This is my go to pizza joint when I'm at home in Charlestown. After having pizza from Figs, no other pizza has compared... we'll gourmet pizza that is. Prices aren't all that bad here, pizzas run around $15-18 and meals around the same... I think I've had every pizza on the menu and a handful of the meals, and I haven't been disappointed yet. I mainly get take out, as it gets really hot inside due to the oven in the dining room, but is pretty cozy in the winter time. It does get crazy busy on Friday and Saturdays, so if you are going to dine in, be ready to wait a bit, or put your name and grab a beer at the Warren Tavern or Sully's next door. Favorites here include the Red Sox, Portobello and the Fig and Proscuitto... they do have daily specials so if you are getting take out, make sure to ask!

Um, only one word needed...YUM! Having only been to Kingfisher Hall in Fanueil Hall, I didn't know what to expect. I've been here twice and it's been fantastic both times. The salads are fresh and the pizzas, well, they rock! I like their house pizza (plain cheese), but the other ones are great too. The pizzas are perfect for sharing with a group. Delish!

Figs is amazingly delicious for a great price. I have to be up front and say I haven't tried much more than the pizza. That said, I've tried the pizza multiple times. I've eaten at Figs, with my family and as a group of two, always with great service. The host and servers are extremely attentive and professional. As others have said, the atmosphere is kind of dark but casual and relaxed. Its great to see the open air kitchen and brick oven at work while you eat. The variety of gourmet pizza is quite impressive. I ALWAYS get half and half....Fig & Prosciutto, Portabella Mushroom, Red Sox, Spicy Chicken, Fried Calamari, Eggplant, Asparagus! All are delicious and way more extravagant than I've been able to describe here. (My only critique is that the crust can be too thin at times, which makes the large slices hard to manage.) I ordered for pick-up only once when it was really busy. The service was still great and they threw in some free bread sticks! Almost every time I have a visitor from out-of-town I bring them here. It's never a disappointment.

I went here for a friend's birthday dinner recently and loved it. There were about 7 of us and we ordered the calamari, a few pizzas, and salads. I had the caesar salad which was delicious. A glass of Sangria was also good and for my entree I had an appetizer of mussels which was out of this world. It was warm and spicy, with cracked olives throughout. It was right up my alley. Everyone seemed to enjoy their pizzas even though I didn't have any. I thought the service was good, they were very attentive and I got my water glass filled throughout the night and even recommendations on what dessert to bring the birthday girl. I would not only come back here again, I would recommend it to anyone I know. If I had to complain I'd say we had very little space, we were definitely cramped. But it didn't bother any of us because we were out celebrating and eating delicious food and just enjoying ourselves.

Small, friendly warm place. Food was only ok. Calamari appetizer was ok. Salmon entrée was way over cooked. Short rib pasta (?) was an interesting taste and was our best pick from the menu. Quite loud. Price reasonable.

Figs is my 'go to' restaurant in Charlestown. I moved to Charlestown from Peabody and was looking for a good restaurant to check out. My neighbors recommended Figs. I went there and immediately took to the place. It's cozy, has character and has amazing pizza. I recommend the 'Bronx Bomber' if you're in the mood for pepperoni. I go here frequently and have never had any complaints. I highly recommend every Bostonian come check this place out.

The pizza here is pretty good. The best part is the crust, which is suitably thin and reliably crisp. The worst part is the cheese, of which it can be said that less is not more. The sauce is to my taste, though some might find it a little too savory for their liking. The prices for pizza are a bit much ($13 for the Oliver, which is a cheese pizza.) All in all, a solid B+.

Figs rocks. Figs offers probably the best thin crust pizza in Boston... It's affordable, has a cool decor and the wait staff is always pleasant... especially Catherine on Sunday nights. Figs is a no risk dinner outing. The only knock is that the tables are pretty close to each other, which sucks if you have a bunch of losers sitting next to you.. However, Figs attracts a pretty decent crowd, so chances are you won't mind and might make some new friends. Post dinner you can trip into Sully's or the Warren Tavern to round out the night.

Amazing thin crust brick oven pizza. The SPICY SHRIMP PIZZA is the best. I really recommend the fried asparagus appetizer. The prices are very reasonable ranging from 13 to $18 for the pizza which is enough for two.

The experience begins with its location. Figs resides in one of the coolest areas of one of the coolest neighborhoods in Boston: Charlestown. Gas lit street lamps, colonial buildings and lots of history. The space itself is small but cozy. I've never felt cramped our claustrophobic, but on a Friday or Saturday it is going to be packed. The restaurant manager can be a bit aloof. He has the whole European, frosted tips, spray tan, tight-black-Ed Hardy tee shirt thing going on. Otherwise, the servers are excellent and obviously take pride in what they do. The one minor complaint I have is the bar. It confuses me. They have liquor, but not all kinds (no gin). They always seemed to be out of one or two of their draught beers. Also, every time I ate there I asked about their root beer on-tap, but they never had it! Damn it! Ultimately, the booze issues aren't serious enough to knock it down a star, but it does indicate an over site. In the end, it's all about the delicious food. Figs is amoebic. It can shift and morph into what ever you need it to be. Laid back enough for casual dinning but sleek and trendy enough for a night out. A contemporary take on pizza, yet does not betray pizza's intrinsically simple essence. Classic Italian dishes with local accents. The dichotomous menu and atmosphere definitely makes Figs one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. I've been here maybe five or six times, tried many of the offerings and was never disappointed. Here are my top three favorite things on the menu: 1. Fig & Prosciutto 2. Bianco 3. Macaroni Simone

Gotta love people that dont like figs or prosciutto, yet order the signature pizza and then grade the restaurant 2 stars because of their stupidity. Also, cant stress how poor it is to lower your rating because you are too cheap to use the public garage around the corner and spend 15 minutes trying to park. HELLO this is Charlestown, get a clue. Been going here for years, both for eat in and take out - and it has always been solid. I have had a few visits where the staff was overtaxed, or the service was slow - but the food and atmosphere never disappoint. Very dimly lit, good wine list, and great salads and pizza. If you want ample parking, go someplace else. If you appreciate a small neighborhood joint right in the middle of one of the most quaint parts of the city, give Figs a try.

Went around 1230 on a cold Thursday afternoon for lunch during the workday...it was about a 7 minute walk from my job so I dont have to worry about the parking like many of the other reviewers. I was surprised at how full the place was, I mean its February in Boston, but the place had a good number of patrons...and only one server but he did a great job. I had the Red Sox pizza, absolutely delicious. Finely chopped sausage, red peppers, onions, and mustard aioli. It came out nice and hot , smelling extremely spicy, but it was fantastic, especially coming from someone who doesn't try new things and doesn't take a liking to spicy food. Switched slices with one of my lunch mates who ordered the Portobello pizza and wasn't too impressed with that one, there was just something off and I can't quite put my tastebuds on the spot of what it was... Anywho, for $8 lunch and 1/2 pizza for leftovers, I will definitely go back again

This is my favorite place in Charlestown. Their pizzas are delicious. Their eggplant pizza is to die for and so is their greek salad. Their wine selection is also good and the staff is always friendly. The place is small but it has a comfortable and classy feel. Perfect for a cozy night out.

I've lived in Boston for 13 years now and this is STILL my favorite restaurant!! Perfect to bring guests b/c you can get a fantastic meal for very reasonable. The Pizzas are always great (Bianco and Classico are always my favs), the warm bacon & spinach salad is the best I have ever had, the Rhode Island calamari is fantastic and their desserts are always delicious. The Charlestown location has a kids menu (not sure if Beacon Hill does) and hands out crayons to keep them busy. Oh- and the complimentary Iggy's focacia bread dipped in their olive oil is also a plus. You can also order your pizza 1/2 and 1/2 to please everyone. I have also eaten there for lunch- great portions. You will love the food!!!

I ordered the signature fig and proscuitto pizza-- which I SO WANTED to like-- and the pizza was so jammy and sugary that I almost stopped eating. I wish they'd use real figs instead of jam and processed figs. My leftover slices tasted like a jelly sandwich the next day. I had poor service for my second visit in a row. I'm done 'trying' to like Figs.

We stumbled upon Figs after climbing the 294 stairs of Bunker Hill, we needed refueling! After exiting the monument, I whipped out my phone, searched Yelp for restaurants in the area and found Figs to be first on the list. Being that my boyfriend loves pizza, he was definitely in to try it. We were the only diners in the place, so we had our server's full attention. We started with some cocktails, a class of Pinot Grigio for my boyfriend, white sangria for myself (which I most definitely recommend, it tasted like it had a hint of cinnamon in it, delicious!). We then split the Bronx Bomber pizza (sauce, mozzarella, basil and pepperoni) which was to die for, I also loved the name (we were a little afraid to admit we are huge Yankees fans!)! The pizza was absolutely excellent, it hit the spot and we were in and out without a long wait. Unsure of the service when this place is busy, but I definitely recommend it.

Quaint cobblestone neighborhood. Diner enjoys cozy (cramped if busy night) atmosphere and open brick oven. Delectable onion focaccia dipped in olive oil before meal. Ofc namesake flatbread pizza is a must: crisp rosemary crust with fig balsamic jam and prosciutto topped with gorgonzola and chives. Big portion too, I always end up taking some home--still divine reheated/toasted next day

Do not order delivery from them. It often takes far too long to be delivered and arrives cold. I recently moved back to Charlestown and my order came incorrect the last time I ordered after waiting for a while. I gave them another chance and the order took an hour and a half and the pizza was delivered room temp at best. When I called them they said, "yeah, sorry about that he got backed up" and that was how they wanted to leave it.

Well, I came here last night with my two roomies and we ordered the exact same pizza that I got last time because it is so yum. This time the pizza was a lil bit less crispy, which was a good thing. The only downside was that we were seated at a tiny table near the kitchens (this was a somewhat slow Monday night), but most of the tables are for two people I guess. Also, the service this time around still wasn't particularly amazing. And I always feel like the decor is a bit unpolished and shabby. The whole restaurant could really do with a make-over (especially when compared to Todd English's other restos). Ultimately, I love the pizza, but next time I'm going to get it for pick-up and eat in the comfort of my own home.

After seeing all the stellar Yelp reviews, I had high hopes for this place despite the owner's super sappy website and overly glamourous head shots. But the food was a disappointment. Spinach salad had powered parmesan on it, big minus, why not fresh? It wasn't that interesting and the bacon chunks were too chewy. The fig pizza was just so-so. Not enough balance of flavors and a bit too much on the sweet side. The portions are huge, so that was a plus but didn't matter when I think food is meh. Maybe it is just that Boston folks don't have the same tastes as Seattle, but I would go to Serious Pie here in Seattle any day and just can't recommend Figs, sorry.

I live down the street from Figs and order take out from here often. I love their Boston Red Sox pizza. Delicious!!! I've tried several of their other pizzas and they have all been great. Their mixed green salad is good, but for the price I often find it better to just make one at home myself to save 10 bucks. The heirloom tomato/mozzarella salad was awful when I tried it for the first time a couple weeks ago. The cheese was slimy and gooey. The tomatoes were regular old red tomatoes too- didn't look/taste "heirloom" to me. Don't recommend that one. The pizza gets cold quickly and they def. taste better when they are hot out of the oven, so if you order take out, get there on time and have everything ready to go when you get home. Once I waited 10 minutes there to wait for the hostess to find someone to ring me out. The pizza was ice cold by the time I got it home.

Went here twice on my business trip to Boston and there is a reason I went back. I really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere here. Both times I sat at the bar, my place of choice. Food: The calamari is a great starter. I have tried the chicken pasta dish and 2 of the pizzas. All of which are really solid dishes, nothing to change your perspective on food, but overall quality food. Atmosphere: This is what brought me back to this place, it just made me comfortable for some reason. I would mention, as others have, be careful if you get seated by the pizza oven in the summer, it gets hot! If you want a low key evening with some simple dishes and quality atmosphere, swing by Figs when you're in the Beacon Hill area.

I think my favorite thing about figs is how cozy it is. On a dark winter night, this tiny restaurant tucked away in Charlestown glows with invite and warmth. The open kitchen and brick oven send waves of enticing smells across the dining room, while the stemless wine glasses fit perfectly in the palm of your hand. Cozy indeed. I find that sticking to the basics works best for me at figs. They put out some seriously delicious calamari, and when their pizzas are on, they are ON. Unfortunately that means when they are struggling, I'm left politely pushing a flavorless chicken and grease topped dough around my plate. That being said, the fig and prosciutto and the arugula pizzas often leave me in the happiest of food comas. These pizzas are big, so grab a few friends and mix and match. They happily let you split the topping 1/2 and 1/2 , which makes it easier to try, um, them all. I've always had really good experiences with the wait staff, whether it be them showing the proper discretion during a date, or easily fitting in an 8 top when we walked in at 7:30. And there's something nice about the waiter being at your elbow with the wine bottle before you even realize you need more. Pushy? Maybe, but if I pushes me towards happy, glowy intoxication I'm all in.

Still one of the best places for great pizza in boston. I've heard a few reports that the quality has gone done but our lunch here today was top-notch. We had a 1/2 portobello / 1/2 eggplant pizza plus a kid's pizza for our niece. Everything was really good. The bread that came before the meal was really good. The kid's pizza was huge. The pizza here is thinner and with a firmer crust than you might be used to but go for it - it's wonderful.

Summary: Top Notch Pizza (and Great food) in Charlestown More: Figs is a great local restaurant. Todd English has since expanded Figs by adding a few other locations (including one just across the river on Charles Street in Boston). The Pizza at figs is very well crafted. The flavors are complex (that sounds conceited, but it is true in this case. As many others suggest the Fig and Prosciutto Pizza is something that you need to try. Our other favorites are the Spicy Chicken Sausage Pizza and Oliver's Pizza which is a very nicely done tomato, mozzarella, and basil pizza. We've mostly focused on Pizzas for out lunch time trips to Figs, but have also had salads and appetizers. The apple salad is quite good. The staff at Figs (Todd Squad as it says on their t-shirts is friendly and helpful. If it is your first time note that you can order Pizza's 1/2 and 1/2 so that you can try a few types of Pizza in a single visit. The figs website doesn't have a lunch menu, but they do serve personal size Pizza's at lunch time. Figs Charlestown location is very nice. The restaurant is understated in some ways, but can provide both a relaxing and refreshing experience. If you haven't sat in the window seats, give that a try. You get a great view of the entire restaurant and can peek outside at the foot traffic on Main street.

My boyfriend and I ordered a half spicy shrimp/half spicy chicken pizza which was $18.75 (the more exp of the two pizzas) and it came out like they all do, COATING a cookie sheet completely. It was not only beautiful but also HUGE and our waitress said she can usually eat an entire one, which I don't really believe--she probably just wanted us to get appetizers, too. Anyway, I'm glad we didn't because we only just ate half the pizza! We both took two "slices" (squares) home each and they are just glorious leftovers. Great toppings and overall veryyy good quality pizza (thin crust!) that will keep you coming back. $30. for the two of us (that's with a beer+tip!) is a what I call a nice, AFFORDABLE, Easter dinner :)

My husband and I used to come here years ago and always enjoyed it. Not so last night - very disappointing. It has become a factory in every way. Disorganized service, burnt pizza, too sweet sauce, noisy, loud - in a word: not enjoyable. (O.k. that was two words.) It's become just a cash machine IMHO. I will not return.

Oh what a pity ... Figs has really fallen flat. You can sense their hidden, reclusive quality that is masked by a lot (and I do mean a lot) of serious flaws. What was once a fantastic pizza joint is now a shameful iteration of its former self. The inner child is still there - it is just in need of some major resuscitation. The pizza in-and-of itself is okay - you could do A LOT worse - but the overall experience is just awful. After a lot of deliberation, the family decided to make the 20 minute drive on the basis that Figs offered the "best pizza" of all the places we considered. After dropping off the ladies, the dudes went looking for a parking spot. 10-15 minutes later, we elected to forgo any further torture and play "parking roulette" (we lost). That there is no parking in Charlestown isn't a knock on the restaurant; however, a number of nearby restaurants offer valet service to quell the problem. While I usually frown on valet at anything but high-end restaurants, this is one noticeable exception. When I walked in, the place was relatively empty. That changed quickly as every table in the place filled up inside of 15 minutes. The restaurant turned into quite the scene, but the space was so poorly laid out that any possible benefit was lost on me. We were unfortunate enough to be crammed in the front - so our table was flanked by everyone waiting for a table. Further adding to the problem was the wait staff. It seems our waiter(s) were overmatched. Maybe he had too many tables, maybe he was just off - but the service was fair at best. They seem to have a bad system. My aunt, uncle, & niece ordered 2 pizzas (more than enough food for all of us). I was not in the mood for 'za, so I decided to get a Caesar salad and steamed mussels in a red wine sauce. My uncle also ordered a beet salad (which he said was decent). I was not really expecting a whole lot from my Caesar; even so, I was disappointed. The dressing had no flavor, the croutons were like rocks, and the lettuce was not fresh. Thus, my expectations for the mussels were tempered - it was a mixed bag. The mussels themselves were small although the sauce was surprisingly good. It had a nice kick and was well balanced. Okay - so at least I had the pizza to nibble on. What a bummer that turned out to be. Let me preface this by saying: I love risk takers - especially in the kitchen. Whether it is someone operating in the style of the famed Alexis Soyer or someone who is actually alive today - Chef Richard Blais (one of my ATL favs) comes to mind, anyone who tries to push the envelope gets a big bump from me. That said - if you fail, you can fail massively. I have no idea how Figs can let some of their concoctions out of the tasting phase. Every restaurant has the opportunity to try their dishes before serving them to the public - so if you screw up - I'm going to call you on it. Their crispy shrimp pizza is that disaster. I first started with a single, solitary shrimp. It was lightly battered - and it was damn tasty. It was fresh and properly cooked. It left me excited for the culinary adventure to follow. That's where everything fell apart. The pizza had garlic and artichoke- again kudos for pushing the envelope a little - but they didn't stop there. They added guacamole (I kid you not). It was so horrendous that ... well - I don't even want to devote more of this review to the disaster. Okay, well - I still had three more types of pizza for me to try. Ughgh - they were all bad. So there was the chicken sausage pizza - bland and underwhelming. If you want sausage - get sausage, if you want chicken ... well you get the idea. That left the pepperoni pizza (bland as well) and the fried calamari pizza (ooh another exciting envelope pusher). Not so fast - first off - there was arugula in the pizza. I don't eat fried calamari on salad - so I don't want it in my calamari pizza either. After it sat on top of hot cheese and under fried seafood - the leaves became warm mush. Ever tried warm greens? There's a reason for that. That aspect could have been easily averted if they placed the arugula on top of the pizza. Then there was the calamari. Much like the shrimp, it was excellent (until you try it with everything else). There was so much calamari on the pizza - it covered nearly every inch of the slices. When you went to pick it up - most of it toppled off. That's a major fail IMHO. It didn't help that there was some sort of sweet sauce that had been drizzled on top (quite excessively at that). Bottom line - a $125 meal consisting primarily of pizza better be good - this was anything but. I'll give Figs props for using high quality ingredients (most of the time). That isn't an excuse for poor execution and inferior dishes. I'm all for creativity - but just because it can go together doesn't mean it should. They need to seriously rethink their concept if they want delicious Neapolitan pizza to return.

Having lived in C-town for a year or 2 previously, I found myself hitting up Fig's pretty frequently despite the fact i didn't want to like it as I've heard Todd English is a huge ash-hole, but I heard a rumor his ex-wife got this joint in their divorce or something. I could of course be making this up completely, but who knows sometimes I make stuff up that ends up being true. The prices are incredibly reasonable, especially when compared to Paolos down the street (your only other C-town alternative for Italian fare). The dining room is smallish, but doesnt' feel like it, and the food is really a good value. There's always is always a complement of locals and tourists, but it doesn't ever feel obtrusively busy for the most part. In short, Charlestown is lucky to have Fig's at it's finger tips. Don't be afraid to stray from the pizza into some of the fairly priced entrees.

Echoing some of the other reviews, the tables are pretty packed in here but it's still a nice atmosphere with (non top 40s tonight) good music. Just try not to get up and down too many times because you will knock into others tables. Service was totally fine unlike others' experiences and the food was overall very good--half portobella half crispy eggplant pizza was awesome, as was the beet salad. Only complaint on the food was the soups were much too rich for my taste, both the squash soup and tomato soup were basically giant bowls of salty heavy cream without any mention of being cream based in the menu. A little much. (As an aside good lord you have to order a lot of food to max out a $40 groupon, but happy to have yummy pizza for leftovers! Would go back and get one pizza, that would be more than enough for two.)

I was home sick and needed some dinner. I called and ordered a pizza & salad they said it would be 45 mins to an hour, THE PIZZA WAS FREEZING COLD! I called to tell them the pizza was freezing and dried up. She suggested I microwave the pizza.... Mr. English, Beware of over expansion and lack of capital is a wise old business premise, but quality control and customer service are also very important. Hell fired freezing cold pizza before I eat at Fig's or ever recommend this restaurant to anyone ever again. I asked her to credit my account , we'll see!

Headed out here with an ex- townie friend who was eager to return to his old stomping ground. Well all he could say was " We weren't in Kansas anymore." Place was cute with a definite neighborhood feel, per Sean not necessarily the neighborhood he remembered ie. a lot less ghetto. Minus one star for standing in the front door before someone acknowledged our presence and seated us at one of the many empty tables. I might be short but Sean stands out around 6'4 and is kinda hard to miss. After we were seated the waiters were nice and attentive. The pizza was unbelievable. I will totally head back there again.

Loud. Small. They tucked us in a corner somewhere next to the basement door, but the pizza redeemed all. Served elevated at nose-level achieves most efficient way to get to nose and mouth. The fig and prosciutto, unlike some places that give you fig jam, have ripe juicy figs all over the damn pizza. The salty and the sweet. Their Oliver's pizza is also phenomenal. Much cheeaper and gooier than the typical Margherita. ohmygawd. And the crust is of perfect thickness and crunch. Worth the trip to Chucktown.

Wow this place was good! My friend and I shared the signature Fig pizza and the Portabello Mushroom pizza with truffle oil. The mushroom pizza was so good, I could have eaten the whole thing myself. The Fig pizza was awesome as well, but because it is so sweet, it can only be eaten in moderation. Although I came with a friend, this place would be an awesome date place. It's small , dark and quaint. I think we were the only non-couple in the building.

Second Helping! Came today for lunch and arrived at opening time. We tried 5 pies and the Figg calzone. Clearly the fig and prosciutto pie is the best, but placing the ham on the top of the pizza makes it a "chin slapper" topping and when you have eaten the prosciutto, the fig and crust alone is too sweet. We had the spicy chicken, spicy shrimp, calamari and another. Every pizza had a great crust, but is it me or where is the cheese? Everything was good but I would like to see more cheese in the recipes. Small here so arrive early or late. Oh, and every pie was perfectly cooked this time and the onion foccacia dropped on the table with side of olive oil was over the top!

Probably top three worst dining experiences of my life. I have never had such utterly horrible service. We were ignored, treated rudely and then ignored some more. The restaurant was not busy, we were not rude or unruly (actually I think my friends were way too kind in the face of the treatment we received), and when I asked before we left if there was a reason why we were treated so poorly, the only response I got was a shrug. Our server came to our table maybe once or twice, and one of those times, while we were mid-order, another patron walked up with a request of our server who then walked away and Never Came Back. Eventually the bartender took pity on us and would occasionally stop by. We were there for over an hour - despite trying to take our entrees to go (we couldn't stomach the abuse any longer). Plus the food was eh. It gave both my friend and I a stomach ache.

This place was great however when we arrived on Charles Street around 3pm on a snowy Saturday afternoon the "host" or whatever you call it was INCREDIBLY rude and obviously HATED HIS JOB. I think if we had not walked in he would have gone to slit his wrists in the bathroom. Seriously. Dude hates LIFE. There was some confusion about seating us at the bar vs. the window and after expressing we'd wait for the window seats the host acted like he didn't understand the request. But once we were seated the pizza was DELICIOUS. I am training for the Boston Marathon so ran 14 miles that morning and NOTHING I mean NOTHING can top having 5 slices of delicious shrimp & crispy eggplant pizza. They do 1/2 and 1/2 orders which is good and the prices are completely reasonable. Also, they have beer and wine which makes it s great place for a date or just to get some happy hour status with friends. Would love to come back here but only after running ;-) That is the only way I could justify how unbelievably caloric this meal probably was.

After we finally found parking in this nice but very densely populated Charlsetown neighborhood we entered Figs. The restaurant has a nice feel to it and the 80's-90's music was fun. Other than that I don't have much else good to say. It was nice spending time with my wife, my sister and her fiancé. We were not met at the door but when my sister saw us she ran over to greet us and bring us over to the table. After we settled in the server arrived and took our drink order. The wine and beer options were fine and they also offered the standard non alcoholic beverages. When it came time to order food I felt a bit rushed by the server. We were then forced to order our apps and meals at the same time. I don't understand why this was the case. I guess this isn't such a big deal but it just kind of took the relaxing feel out of our dining experience. We were not able to take our time and think about what we wanted to eat. Doing family style dining/sharing pizza can often take a few minutes to come to a decision. We shared pizzas, antipasto and a Caesar salad. I wouldn't really recommend any of them. The Caesar was over dressed. The antipasto was just not good and the pizza was over cooked. At least the two pizzas I tried were. Also the method they use to serve the pizza was pretty bad as well. The upsidedown baking sheet really did not work! When the person across from me tried to take a piece of poorly cut pizza the piece on the opposite side of the sheet ended up partially on my lap. The server was rarely seen but was quick to drop the check with the 18% gratuity on it. We probably would have given 20% because that is what we do but for this experience 18% was fine for this over priced meal. There are tons of better options to get gourmet pizza and Italian food. Did I mention the pizza was burnt! Who is this Todd English guy?

The food at Figs is 'decent', the service and attitude of staff is absolutely terrible. It feels like you are doing them a favor by patronizing their restaurant. If I didn't live in Charlestown I would never even think of coming here given the other great options in Boston. Todd English, in my mind, is the most overrated chef in the country. He just closed Olives which I would give 2 stars as well. Figs may be next unless they get an influx of staff that treat the patrons like they are happy to have them come in to spend their $. Food is a 3. I enjoy the meatball sliders and a few pizzas. Staff is a 1, you'll be very lucky to get a 'How are you doing today' when you walk in the door or a 'Thank-you' at the end of your meal...

love their pizza!!! they are different than your papa johns or pizza huts...so flavorful...can't describe with words...you will have to try it yourself...we love their calamari pizza and red sox...will try other kinds when we are in Boston again.

Built on the original location of Olives before the fire, Figs is a great place to eat if you understand a few things before you go. First, know that we are talking Charlestown, the quaint section, where parking can be a hassle - if you have a problem with that, then you shouldn't be in Charlestown. Second, do not expect a room as big as The Cheesecake Factory - it is cozy, dark and can be loud. Lastly, understand that there will be a limited menu, some pizza, pasta, risotto, but not everything under the sun again as would be true at The Cheesecake Factory. Take all this into account and now we can discuss why I feel this place deserves five stars. Peruse other reviews and overwhelmingly the most popular items are the fig and prosciutto pizza and the Red Sox pizza and with good reason. They are DAMN GOOD! The first has a balsamic fig jam spread all over the thin crust topped with prosciutto (obviously) and gorgonzola, while the second is their take on Italian sausage at a Sox game with sausage, red pepper, caramelized onion and a mustard aioli. Having a weakness for bacon, I always start with their warm bacon and spinach salad, but all of their salads are great. B/T/W - their homemade focaccia is complimentary and spectacular. Most dishes are served on oversized plates, so the meal looks deceptively small, but be assured that there is plenty of food. They serve beer and wine, but no hard stuff to go with the limited menu. The staff is very attentive and anything other than competent has historically been an utter rarity in my experience. Comparatively, this location has better "atmosphere" with its big brick oven as the focal point of the room and may be slightly larger than the Beacon Hill location, while that location might be more convenient to most. There is definitely a mix, but most customers appear to be local residents. They are very accommodating to families, though limited be the facilities. All in all, it's a casual and relaxed environment with reasonable pricing for great food without all of the pomp and circumstance that goes on down the street at the new Olives.

3.5 stars. If Figs' Boston bibb salad with toasted walnut dressing is the best thing that Duff Goldman ever ate with nuts, I feel sorry for him. It was good, but totally overdressed and a bit soggy as a result. The combination of Boston bibb lettuce and watercress was nice, and the finely shredded blue cheese allowed the diner to get as much or as little as they like on a forkful. The walnut dressing was tasty, but -- again -- there was too much of it. At any rate, I can think of dozens of other nutty dishes I've eaten that I liked better. The pizza, on the other hand, is worth a trip out here. It's thin crust style, cooked in a wood-burning oven at the back of the restaurant. The dough produces a chewy, floppy slice you can fold in half. Husband and I did the half-and-half option with Portobello (portobello, wild mushroom purée, roasted red onion, fontina, and truffle oil) and Bianco (sweet onion, fresh tomato, arugula, balsamic, mozzarella, and olive oil). Others sampled the Bronx Bomber with pepperoni and fresh basil and the Pulled Chicken with basil oil, gruyère, and caramelized onion. I really enjoyed the Portobello, husband preferred the Bianco, and the Bronx Bomber was a hit. But FIL found the Pulled Chicken bland and boring, and others agreed. Tho the pies were good, I'm not sure they merited the hefty $18+ price tags. I liked the casual, neighborhood feel of Figs, like a laid-back trattoria. But the space is cramped with tables right on top of each other, and it's somewhat depressingly decorated with black paint and dark wood. Not to mention the sketchy bathroom and back-bar area. The bathrooms themselves were *gross*: dirty, run-down, broken locks...is this a Top Chef quality restaurant or a dive bar? Because the overpriced 'za says one thing, but the décor says another. [Top Chef: Todd English] [15 Minutes of Fame: "The Best Thing I Ever Ate: Nutty" (Duff Goldman, Boston bibb salad with roasted walnut dressing)]

Figs is my favorite local place to eat! Delicious pizza, love the macaroni simone, and the caesar's salad is excellent. They have a good wine selection and the sangria is great. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive. My water glass always gets refilled even if it's a busy night which is a sign of good service to me. It's a cozy atmosphere and they do a great takeout business as well if you just feel like grabbing a pizza to go. Corporate management isn't great - Todd English is a mess, but his staff have always been kind to me. I recommend trying Figs!

Would I travel across the city to go to Figs? No. If you're in Charlestown, should you try Figs? Absolutely. This has always been a go-to restaurant for a date night. The Redsox pizza is always a favorite, and we always have enough to take left overs home. If you're in town, this a lovely restaurant to try.

sometimes, i crave cheese. and by sometimes, i mean all the time. and sometimes, i need to class up my dominos cheesy bread with something that i can tell people i ate and not be judged. at those times, i turn to figs. this place is great, and in a neighborhood i dont venture to too frequently, its a place will keep me coming back. figs is a cute, fairly quiet, flat bread joint that has a lot of interesting combinations and an nice atmosphere to sit and enjoy a drink with friends. the menu is pretty large. as i sifted through their appetizers, my eyes focused on one word: aioli. seriously, a huge portion of calamari and lemon aioli. amazing. maybe not the freshest calamari, but a huge pile of it. it was pretty good. the pizza is what would keep me coming back here though. i split the pizza with a friend--half portabello, half fig and prosciutto. were were not let down. the flavors were rich and the fig had a little bit of a smoky taste. delicious. this place also has a pretty extensive wine selection, which is always a plus. im giving it four stars because the calamari could be a little fresher and because they were playing top 40 music, which seemed a little weird...maybe its not that weird. but i stand by the fact that the calamari wasnt so fresh.

Bianco pizza is so good! It has fresh arugula and tomatoes w/ really yummy balsmic drizzled over it... The bread is so good, too. My office has ordered a couple times, which I would recommend, as I went in with my husband once (we had a groupon / or living social deal..) and it was PACKED and LOUD!

Love Figs! And love that they are always running groupons so we get to enjoy it for less (although normal prices are actually really reaaonable). I've enjoyed every pizza I've tried and that's probably quite a few as you can order half and half with any of their pizzas! Have tried the mussels which are done with diced tomatoes and they are GOOD! overall this is a great little spot right outside the city. Perfect place to go when you only see traffic up ahead for miles. Pull off and go here!

The pizza's okay not worth 20 bucks a pizza. The service is not accomodating. Tried calling ahead 3 times when the resturant was open and nobody picked up. There were empty tables and I had a baby with me. They told me the wait was 1.5 long. saw other people coming in after us and got seated first. I made the point that the baby couldn't wait that long but the woman i spoke to ignored. i had a groupon asked if we could still get the offer if we do take out the woman said no because the computer wouldn't take it, it's just a lie. We ended up doing taking but they subtracted the amount i paid. other stuff on the menu were pretty pricy too.

Food great, service bad. I've always considered Figs one of my favorite restaurants. I've always had a great meal here but tonight was totally disappointing. I'm sad. We arrived just after 5:00 and were the first in the restaurant. The music was blaring LOUDLY. We couldn't hear ourselves. I figured they were still in prep mode and would turn the music down. One in our party of three politely asked if they could turn the music down. It was as if our waitress was slapped in the face. Her jaw fell open and she stared at us blankly. My friend then ordered a glass of wine and our waitress stomped away without a word. The music went off for a brief 10 seconds and then came back on, as loud as ever. Our waitress continued to grumpily serve us. The pizza was good, as usual as was the beet salad. The asparagus fritto (fried asparagus spears) were oily and tasteless. I'll think twice before returning here - maybe I'll just get takeout. It's a shame. I'm sad to say this has been knocked off my favorites list.

When I first moved to Charlestown in the fall of 2010, everyone who found out I lived there would rave about Todd English's Olives Restaurant. Bummed that I couldn't eat at Olives, I gave English's Figs a try---and its been a savory, eggplant & ricotta filled love affair ever since. I have been here too many times to count-- probably five times for dinner, once for lunch ( I recommend dinner over lunch...), and I've ordered delivery/pick up on more Friday nights than I'd like to admit. Overall the place has gourmet pizza, but have affordable prices. Here are my favorites on their menu: Appetizer: It's a tie between their asparagus fritto and their calamari. The fried asparagus is lightly breaded, crisply fried--but never too greasy, the asparagus is always cooked perfectly--never too slimy or chewy and its served on a bed of arugula with the most delicious mustardy aioli. The calamari is better than most because they top it off with hot cherry peppers and then they hit you over the head with some sort of aioli business--not sure what kind it is, but its awesome. Pizza: Hands down, no question the crispy eggplant pizza with ricotta, mozzarella and basil. Probably the best pizza I've ever had-- and it's consistently delicious. The portobello mushroom & truffle oil pizza is a close second. Pasta: I've only ever ordered a risotto & seafood dish and the chicken parm---neither was too memorable. Stick to the pizza-- its what they excel at. Word to the wise: this place is tiny, and luckily they do take reservations--- which I suggest making on a Friday or Saturday night... otherwise be prepared to wait a while to be seated.

So impressed with Figs. They have excellent thin crust pizza with a variety of creative toppings. The restaurant is small but I would describe it as cozy, the bar has room for about 4 people or so. For my first visit I played it safe and got the cheeese pizza and Cesear Salad. Both were great, can't wait to return to try some of their different pies.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon so there was only one other group of people in the restaurant at the time. There is a small bar on the left when you walk in with a flat screen TV mounted behind it. Pizzas are made in the back with brick oven so if you're sitting in the back, you can watch them make your pizza for you. The tables are very close together so I can only imagine how cramped it feels when it's busy. Bread is served with olive oil-- bread was soft and baked with roasted onions on top. I ordered the Rhode Island Calamari with hot cherry peppers, garlic and lemon aioli sauce as an appetizer and the Portobello pizza with wild mushroom purée, roasted red onions , Fontina cheese and truffle oil. The calamari was good and crispy with a generous amount of aioli sauce on top but the batter could have used some more seasoning because it was a little bland without the aioli. I was much happier when I got my portobello pizza though. The crust was thin, crispy and delicious! The pizza is oval shaped and can probably serve about 2-4 people depending on how hungry you are.

Service was a little slow but the food was great. Calamari was perfect, special apple salad was divine and the fig and prosciutto pizza was right on, my only complaint was that The prosciutto slices were a little too big and made the pizza hard to eat (the prosciutto kept coming off in huge slabs) but make them a little smaller and the taste would be front and center, rather than huge slices of meat dangling down your chin.

pizza was amazing! too bad it's a tiny place and the wait was about 30 minutes. since it's tiny, the tables are so close to one another so expect to get comfy with your neighbors. would go back if it wasn't too hard to get to and if they had better service, but would recommend trying it once.

The food was great, but the service was terrible. When my group of four arrived, no one who worked there acknowledged us. After waiting about 5 minutes and seeing an empty table, we went to a waitress and asked her if we could just take that table. She told us that we couldn't and had to wait for the manager to seat us. After waiting another 10 minutes, another waitress finally sat us. Having said this, the food was great. The calamari pizza is amazing and I've never see it anywhere else before.

I have been a fan of Fig's thin crust pizzas since they opened their door many years ago but it was only a few years ago that I discovered their pasta dishes and desserts are rave worthy too. The worst part of going to Figs is deciding what to order! Bonus factor: you can order 1/2 of one kind of pizza, and another variation on the other half. Occasional downside: pizza can be salty. Summary: it's consistently the best food in Charlestown and worthy of a road trip.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned the amazing deal that can be had here for lunch. Seriously, $6 for their cheese pizza? That's a steal when it's $14 for dinner. Same pizza. Same service. And the other pizzas aren't far off from that either - I think $8 for the fig one. Delish! So go for lunch. It's never crowded. And tell them Andrew sent you. They won't have a clue in hell what you're talking about, but tell them just the same.

I live very close by, and Figs is the go-to restaurant when I'm in the mood for a casual dinner or have friends visiting from out of town. It's convenient, but the food is delicious (i've had friends say the pizza was the best they'd EVER had) and the atmosphere is lively. Seeing pizza come right out of the oven and knowing it's yours is fantastic. On the downside, Figs is frequently excessively crowded, which is a problem when you're waiting by the door, since there is no real hall/entryway. This is especially problematic in the winter, when every door opening means another icy blast of air. The service isn't amazing, but on the other hand, it's crowded and busy, so no real shock there.

I love Figs (disclaimer: I'm a C-town resident). Had a bad experience at a nearby restaurant, so we left there. We walked right into Figs, got seated right away, got great service, and the food is always really good. I personally like the eggplant pizza and the fig/prosciutto pizza. The had a great calzone special that night as well. Would highly recommend Figs for casual dining.

People in Boston don't have the slightest clue about pizza!! This place is in a great section of Charlestown but this place isn't anything special. I don't care if its run by a 5 star Michelin chef I judge food by how it tastes. We ordered a salad and it was ok but it was extremely small. We ordered two pizzas one was half pepperoni and half 4 cheese I was on the verge of calling in the Exxon Valdez oil clean up team cause this pizza was drowning in oil!! The second pizza we ordered was half chicken sausage and half fig. The chicken sausage was horrendous and the fig pizza was way too sweet. Here's a hint put some Gorgonzola on that fig pizza to offset the sweetness of the figs!! Wow I can't believe I came up with that quick solution and I don't even have a degree from a culinary school!! Hey figs you want to learn how to make a "real" pizza come on over to my neck of the woods to new haven and learn from the masters PEPES APIZZA!!

DON't bother anymore~~This place is over the hill. This used to be the definitive hit in Beantown for Pizza and a quick Italian meal, now it is old and tired. Seems like the Todd English the founder either sold it or just doesn't care anymore. The staff tries but the food is mediocre at best and the menu is tired and outdated. It may still be popular with some but it seems really to be resting on it's old reputation. It is crowded and loud and not in a good way. The place hasn't been redone since it opened 20 odd hears ago. Seems like it is just a cash cow in a chain of really good restaurants! Wake up Todd. My recommendation is take a ten minute walk over the bridge to the North End for some real Italian food it's worth it.

Ah Figs, I know I can't eat a lot of your food (gluten allergy), but that doesn't mean your salads should be so insanely horrible. I'm only writing this review after having tried to remedy the situation with the restaurant and it just not happening, they don't care, corporate doesn't care (big surprise there), so that's it...here you go. Tried ordering takeout and ended up on two salads because I had to call back, twice, because the woman on the phone was so unhelpful and unfriendly with regards to getting takeout and what they had available. So we ended up ordering salads - a caesar and the warm bacon spinach salad. I've had the WARM bacon salad before, it was delicious. Nope, not this time. I was literally across the street, picked up the salads exactly on the time they gave me. First the caesar....seriously, a bagged salad from the supermarket looks, and tastes, better. My poor mother couldn't even eat the whole thing, it was so bad. The warm bacon and spinach salad, well, you'll note I keep mentioning the word warm...because the bacon was so cold it almost broke a tooth, as in, it was obviously not cooked recently and likely straight from the fridge. Warm bacon chunks are delicious; cold chunks are wads of fat that make you regret what you're eating. As soon as I took one bite of salad, I actually called right over to Figs....I was put on hold to wait for the Manager. When someone finally picked up the phone, they very obviously and purposefully hung up on me. Tried calling back, hmmm, no answer. We trashed the salads after a couple of forces bites. Tried looking up online who else to call or email and emailed the Todd English group, because that's all the info you can get - and to my utter surprise, no response, in two weeks. So yeah, maybe their pizza is ok, but their service and their salads are atrocious. No more Figs, no more Todd English anything. Because discerning consumers give the restaurant a chance to make amends when something just happened to go wrong, but when they obviously don't care, the discerning consumer spends their money, for salad, pizza, steak or lobster (I eat everything, just not gluten), elsewhere.

First time at this location, but it was great. We had pizza and drinks before attending the Lakers/Celtics game. We sat at the bar and had a great server who was very attentive--as it seemed the rest of the staff were not so courteous. There were 6 of us and we all loved it--perfect for a pre-game meal. The pizza was a bit dry as the other location seems to have a bit juicier pizza...hopefully it was just an off day.

We had the famous Fig and Prosciutto Pizza and it is worthy of its reputation! Also make room for the calamari and bacon/spinach salad! My girlfriend and I visited the establishment on the day after Christmas, promptly at noon. We were immediately attended to and told to take our pick of the tables for two. We sat in the corner by the window, and there was only one other occupied table towards the back. We ordered our pizza and appetizers and sat. We were quite surprised to see how much business they received at noon on a Wednesday, for a small shop in Charlestown! A few other tables filled up and they accepted take out orders. Our appetizers came in a timely fashion - the salad was excellent, with large chunks of not-greasy bacon, and nice fresh leaves of spinach. The calamari was excellent, well battered, tender and not at all greasy or rubbery. The pizza was excellent. There are more than enough reviews on this site that praise the Fig and Prosciutto Pizza, however I must say disregard any negative reviews - The pizza was baked properly, not burnt and not a section undercooked at all! All in all, a worthy trip.

I wish I could recommend this place. The first few times, I had a great experience. The pizzas are unique and delicious. I really recommend getting a half fig/prosciutto and half fried calamari pizza. It's the best of all worlds in one delicious pizza. The problem isn't in the food. You're going to get a decent meal at a cheap price (the pizza I described above is less than $20). The problem is everything else. It's tiny. There really are no more than ten tables... and very little seating for more than two. And you should really not think about coming with a group over six. The worst part, once you get seated, you're bound to be elbowed, brushed up against and generally bumped into over and over and over. The other issue is that the service is horribly inconsistent. On our most recent visit, on the Saturday afternoon prior to Hurricaneapocolypse, we were quickly seated and put it our order. We didn't see our server for at least another hour. We never once had a water refill or a chance to order another beer, dessert or anything else. And it wasn't like the place was slammed... everyone in Boston was worried about buying water and bread for the looming hurricane. It's a shame really. The food is good. It's just the rest of the experience that is lacking.

I love their calamari pizza. I've eaten in a few times, but since I'm in the neighborhood, find it more comfortable to take-out. The rest. is very small/cramped. Fresh ingredients, arugula, thin crust, and a mystery sauce over the top... Did I mention the calamari pizza?? We found that salads were tiny and high-priced. Not a good value. Although 3 of us ordered 2 salads totaling about $33.00, there wasn't enough!! Service is OK. Some servers a bit indifferent. Don't go on a Friday or Saturday night...

This is the first 5 stars I've given out on yelp. Although I went there with 5 girlfriends, this place definitely has a great first date atmosphere. A cozy pizza place with everything you can think of on a pizza. We started with the calamari appetizer and boy were they generous with the calamari! We didn't even eat it all trying to save room for our pizza. Out of all the pies we ordered our absolute favorite was the unique fig and prosciutto pizza. The wine list here is not too shabby at all and lastly we shared a brownie sunday for dessert which was the icing on the cake. All I can say is I can't wait to go back.

We came here for lunch after visiting the USS Constitution. There were only two tables when we arrived for lunch, and we sat near the window. Right when I sat down, two GIANT grasshopper/crickets/bugs landed on my arm and shirt. I freaked out and threw my right arm away, or tried to. My arm stayed stubornly attached to my shoulder joint, but the monster did jump off somewhere. Then I attended to the one on my shirt. The server looked wide eyed and shocked. I think I stunned him. He's a big guy, he could have leapt over the tabled and destroyed the bug, but he just stood frozen in front of me, half bent at the waist, about to hand me a menu. The bug disappeared and we were given our menus. My fiance saw the bug too but didn't flinch. I had to mention he saw it so you Yelpers don't think I'm crazy and seeing things. In ten minutes, another pest landed on my forehead and I nearly knocked myself out in fright. I really wanted to leave, but we were hungry, and just ordered two pizzas. Now to the pizzas. They were HUGE, well-priced, amazing thin crust, and delicious. I had the sausage pizza and my fiance had a tomato and arugula pizza which was amazing. We couldn't finish them, but we were stuffed. I would have given this place four stars if there were no bugs attacking me. If you go, do not sit near the window. Note: No harm was done to any bugs during this meal or review. Only my blood pressure had skyrocketed and heart stopped exactly three times.

Really good pizza! Try to namesake Fig & Proscuitto pizza! The Crispy Eggplant pizza is also delicious.

The food at Figs is always interesting and delicious. Sometimes the furniture is a little bit run down. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston and I think going out to Charlestown is part of the fun. Not a bad place for people watching.

Figs deserves an update, since I've been here a million times since my last review, which was only a take-out review. If I could describe the eating experience in two words, it would be "painfully romantic." It's wonderful inside. With the brick oven sitting in the middle of the tiny dining room, there is so much warmth permeating through the restaurant. Dimly lit with candles, deep plum walls. My boyfriend and I come here all the time, and always try to get the bench in the front window with the pillows to sit on. Again, so romantic it physically hurts. The spicy shrimp pizza is my favorite thing on the planet. Order it. It's amazing. Also, it's really spicy - they don't mess around. You have been warned. I love the white sangria. Specials are usually great, and so are the pasta dishes. My favorite pasta dish (rock shrimp pasta - seasonal) wasn't on the menu the last time I came, but the salmon with brussels sprouts and bacon was almost as good. Boyfriend got paella. My meal was delicious but I couldn't help glaring at him throughout the entire meal out of jealousy. There was so much shellfish in that paella that it was laughing at me for not ordering it. The spinach salad is the standout appetizer. When it says it has bacon, it's not your traditional strips of bacon. Rather, it's thick cubes of crispy bacon that explode with flavor. I inhale that salad every time. The best date night place in Charlestown, hands-down.

Lots of great food options - Every Appetizer, and Entree I've eaten, including the Pizza, is Fantastic!

Figs itself is adorable. The decor is very contemporary with eggplant colored walls and black classy tables. The kitchen is partially open and they have a huge brick oven which is always promising. The staff is super friendly. Very nice "gentlemen", a word that I don't get to use too often. And the service was above average. Very speedy, attentive, and polite. My date and I (Kimberley S) decided to go big. We ordered a pitcher of white sangria and it was deliciooous. Very citrusy and had obvious hints of lemon and lime... yum. We asked our server what they used in it.- the secret = pineapple juice. Normally, if i were told that the sangria was made with this juice prior to ordering, I would've been hesitant. But this was some amazing sangria, and well worth the $30. For an appetizer, we went with the asparagus frittes. OMG. I don't even like asparagus that much, but this was delectable. Perfectly fried, and not overwhelming. They had the perfect crunch to them and were spread on top of an arugula salad, and man, do i LOVE arugula. Not really sure what sauce they used on top, i think some kind of aioli. Now for the entree... This could easily be of the best pizzas I've ever had. I'm pretty boring when it comes to pizza, and usually lean towards your standard pepperoni, onions, mushrooms, etc. However, though I was extremely nervous about this, my friend insisted that we get the spicy shrimp pizza. I love shrimp, and I love pizza.. but combined.. ehhhh. So for safety, we got the pizza "half and half"- one half spicy shrimp and one have bronx bomber (aka pepperoni). Figs totally proved me wrong. The spicy shrimp pizza was so good I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing. I don't know what they put in their tomato sauce but it was fantastic and spicy and just delicious. The shrimp were perfect as well, not too big, not too small, and crunchy as they should be. I really regret that I requested half the pizza be pepperoni- how boring. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome, but with the selection of pizza they have, I shouldve been more adventurous. Definitely plan to come back again! Maybe next time I'll try the fried calamari pizza... but the spicy shrimp is an absolute must-have.

the food at figs is amazing, the serivice is pretty iffy. mostly i think they just need to hire an extra waiter or two. we started off with the meatball sliders and rhode island calamari. the sliders were amazing, and the calamari was really good too. the pizza was great too, i forget the name but it was pretty much a pepperoni. thin crust, cheese was great too. but when we were done, we pretty much had to wait 40 minutes to get the pizza boxed up, the check, and leave a tip. a good place, but be aware that there will be a wait and its really small!

Every time I have gone to Figs I have LOVED the food (I usually order a bunch of pizzas and appetizers) but I will admit that the restaurant is quite loud and crowded. I am fine with this, but if I am eating with my parents or grandparents I would probably opt for take out. The food is really something though!

Fig and prosciutto flat bread is a MUST!! Tried 4 others here and nothing can top it!!!! My husband and I came across this little gem a year and a half ago (august '10) on our quick trip up to Boston, we loved it so much that we came back the very next day! There were a couple of foreign tourists that were horribly rude to the manager at the table next to us. After they left we commiserated with her and told her that she was a whole lot nicer than we would have ever been! She comped our lunch!! We have since come back to boston twice (one time for just the day basically to eat here!) every time we stop there and the wait staff is pretty much the same, which is not only impressive but speaks highly about the owner and the establishment itself!

Figs was able to accommodate seven of us the day of on a Friday. We were squeezed in the back but were right next to the brick oven pizza, which was a treat for my step siblings who have never seen such a thing. Thumbs up to Figs for being able to do half pizza toppings so we choose two pizzas of prosciutto and fig, four cheese, spicy chicken sausage and bianco. All were delicious except for the spicy chicken sausage which lacked the punch that I expected. Nonetheless this is a nice Boston spot to show out of towners.

We were in Boston 3 days and Figs was one of the highlights. The Pizza and nicely decorated atmosphere gives you a feeling like you wanted to go back to Boston very soon.

The wait is disturbing unless you have reservations and the place is tiny, but the pizza is to die for, I am a huuuuuge fan of the bronx and the crispy eggplant pizza. Always a delightful experience to eat here.

The last time i went, the waitstaff was crazy bored. They were annoying... however.... food here it outrageously good. Todd English knows a good dinner, man. Went on a Friday night, and the place was so quiet. We asked the waiter about the bread (its yummy onion bread), and he gave us loaves to take home because they "would never serve all of it tonight". I was pumped! I always get pizza (they are famous for it), but I had the watermelon salad ( a summer special) and it was quite delicious. My friend had some beef pasta which was super yummy too.

We have been longtime fans of Todd English and his many ventures over the years. I've had great meals in the early days at Olives, and we were regulars at the Figs in Chestnut Hill. We even enjoyed Kingfish Hall when most people did not, and I remember a enjoyable dinner at Olives in Las Vegas. So I am sad to report that the folks who have been saying that Todd has become an absentee owner, more concerned about his brand image than about the food being served in his restaurants, are unfortunately spot on. At least if our disappointing experience last night is any indication. Indifferent service, and truly mediocre food. Only the fried calamari app was good. The pizza was bland and entirely forgettable and the pasta dish we got was simply a mish-mosh. Bertucci's has this beat by a mile. Very disappointing.

This is a fantastic high-end pizza place. Went there this past Saturday night, made reservations ahead of time and was pretty glad that I did. The entire place was packed. We had to wait a few minutes to get our table, but had a complimentary appetizer waiting at the table for us which completely made up for it. The food: Thin crust with some nice char on the edges, not cracker thin, just thin enough to perfectly hold all of the ingredients. We got a 1/2 Calimari pizza (enormous mountain of calimari with greens) and 1/2 the Red Sox pizza (tom sauce, sausage, red bell pepper, mozz, aioli). There's 8 huge slices with each pizza, I was completely full after just 2. I loved the Red Sox pizza, absolutely delicious. The ambiance is fun, a little noisy, but it's a nice tight environment for having dinner with good friends.

Figs is not for those that are your simple cheese & pepperoni pizza eaters. I love rustic & gourmet pizza, Todd English really hit the nail with this restaurant. First... I love the fact that their pizzas are nicely thin crusted and squared. Between a friend and I, we shared one pizza and was able to split half the pizza with two offerings. I was able to try the garlic shrimp, and their specialties at the time butternut squash. Yum, two at end odd pairings, (one sweet & savory, the other garlicy and spicy!, made for one delicious meal. Their salads are light, crisp with just the right touch of vinaigrette I hate when salads are overloaded and heavy on the dressing. It's gross and no wonder I get my dressing on the side. One of the best wines in the house as well... I wish I could've remembered the name.... I remember the description as being something along the lines of " a mini burst of cherry bombs in your mouth". Ok-sold! The ultimate taste test challenge is going back and trying their simple margherita pizza, or known at Fig's as "Olivers". I don't have a current reason to not give this restaurant a 5 stars..... I loved everything I ordered.... so I'll be back very soon.

Had to wait for an hour to get a table but it was worth it. The pizzas are great, the ingredients are fresh and very high quality, and the prices are very reasonable for what you are getting. The pizzas are very big, I feel like enough for two people. A definite place to go on a date because it has an intimate feel to it because it doesn't have that many tables.

I want to take a guess at what FIGS stands for. Given my Australian roots, I want to use expletives. F*** it's great stuff. This pizza really is rocking. The fig & prosciutto pizza is totally different; they use fig jam instead of tomato paste. You'd think it doesn't work, but it does; the mildly sweet base with the salty prosciutto is amazing. Also had the fried calamari pizza; same deal. Calamari on a pizza? But it just works. Surprisingly, no desert, but to be fair... they do pizza and they do it well. Highly recommended.

I love this place! I had been hearing about Figs for a while and finally went for a late dinner on Saturday night - totally lived up to the hype. The service was fast and attentive, the pizza was divine, and the wine kept coming. The prices are incredibly reasonable, even their wine which ranges in price from $30-$40 for a bottle. We got half & half pizza - half Bronx Bomber and half Fig & Prosciutto. Both were great with nice thin crust and delicious flavors, but the Fig & Prosciutto was really unique and tasty. Next time we'll get that pizza on both sides. My mom and friend also got a greek salad, which they said was amazing. I steered clear due to an aversion to feta cheese, but they were really happy with it. I will definitely be returning here...as often as possible!

I went there for a birthday last night and everything was FANTASTIC! I was a little worried about having to order a salad or something simple since I have a gluten allergy, but the wait staff seems to know all about my options. They were very helpful and understanding. I opted for the scallop risotto, it was amazing. The flavors were so rich and paired well. The other people at my table order two pizzas and two pastas to split. We were all extremely please with our meals. They said the pasta carbonera was also delicious. I highly recommend this place for a group dinner where your looking to share.

I was so looking forward to going to Figs tonight. They supposedly take reservations. I've been calling all day and now it's 5pm and still no one is answering the phone. I've been in the restaurant business for 30 years and this is unprofessional and annoying.

I've always liked Figs in Charlestown for a cheap meal. I've had good luck with the mussels and also liked the scallops for a good low-carb meal. The pizza is good across the board.

If you're a pizza snob, don't go here. End of story. Of course, if you're a pizza snob, don't ever leave New York... ever. Figs has wafer-to-paper thin crust, and they go fairly light on the toppings, but the end result is very good, IMO. There ARE better pizza options around, but the exotic selections from Figs makes it 'different'... something that's just NOT the pizza from everywhere else. Get the asparagus frites too... amazing, but a bit of a splurge. The service here, which is what I tend to focus on too much, is very good. I've always had staff with a smiling face and great attitude, which probably adds a star or so in my book.

I love this place. I have been to both Charlestown and Beacon Hill location. The calamari and the figs and proscuitto pizza is to die for!! The decoration is very contemporary with eggplant colored walls and black classy tables. The Figs Carbonara fedelini pasta was so good. The pasta taste unique. How can I not like a place that makes pasta that tastes as good as the ones that I had in Italy....... Soooo Good...Love this place!!!

Wow! Seriously disappointed. I work in the area and just wanted a nice salad for lunch. I ordered online through the website which directed me to Chow Hound. After it was completed, I got an email from Chow Hound saying they would email me when my order was ready. 25 minutes later, still no email, so I went in and was told that the order was not ready. I came in at the same time as another gentleman who sat at the bar and ordered the same thing as I did-ceasar salad with grilled chicken. Over 10 minutes later, out comes my order, and out comes his. They clearly did not even start cooking my order until I was there. When I got back to my office, I opened the bag to discover a WHOLE grilled chicken breast, not even cut up, no utensils in the bag. I scrounged for a fork and knife and was praying that this $14 misadventure would pay off when I took a bite but once I was able to saw through the chicken with the crappy knife I found, I discovered it to be fatty and undercooked!!!!! So beyond pissed and STILL HUNGRY!!!! I'm not sure if they just didn't give a crap because I didn't tip when I put my order in? I did leave a cash tip, even though I didn't really feel it was warranted but I sure wish I looked in the bag to see what I was getting before I did that. Guess it just goes to show that a celebrity chef's name on a restaurant does not mean you're getting a nice meal. I work and live in Charlestown but won't be going back to Figs.

Mussels... amazing! I get the mussels over the pizza (which is also good) everytime! I also love the meatball sliders which i prefer over the chicken parm sliders (also dood but doesn't wow me like the meatball sliders do).

I gotta say it: the fig and prosciutto pizza is terrible. Sorry. I gottta say it, like I feel it. I'm thinking that people who like this pizza are responding to the awesome match that is figs and prosciutto. I still remember the first time I had those two together. It was a culinary awakening. I remember every detail of the meal. But on pizza... meh. Maybe my teeth are not strong enough. Maybe I should be using a fork and a knife to eat it. But it just doesn't work from a physiology of eating perspective. It's just a mess. Get the regular pizza. It's not bad, but it's not terribly memorable either. The other stuff is tres overpriced. But if you are in the neighborhood, and really want some pizza, it's a fine place to sit down, if you don't mind the wait. Just don't get fooled by the name of the place and skip the f*ucking fig pizza. Seriously. But for your own sake... if you've never had that combo... wait until good fresh plump summer figs... find yourself some super high quality prosciutto (maybe some san danielle)... some highly aged balsamic... and some prosecco. And give me a call... I'll be right over.

I ordered via the phone. Went to pick up my pizza and they had screwed the entire order up. To be honest, it seemed as though they could care less... The staff offered no solution and invited me to wait outside until my pies were ready. Good pizza. Bad service. Pap Ginos down the street cares more about their customers.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
