I make it a point to go here once a week. I absolutely love this place. The Turkey Club is easily the best turkey club I've ever had and maybe even one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I've turned a bunch of people at work on to the Turkey Club, so much so that we've instantiated a Turkey Club Tuesday where at least 5 of us head down there for Turkey Clubs. I always get the iced latte as well which is great and while the price seems a bit high you're paying for high quality deliciousness.

The food at this place is fantastic, and the coffees are absolutely great. However, I've never experienced service so consistently bad anywhere else in my long history of eating out in the financial district. Three times I've been sent home with the wrong biscotti (of only two flavors available at any one time), twice I was sent home with a cookie instead of a scone (or vis-a-versa), once my breakfast sandwich was completely lacking in the main ingredient, and once the cashier didn't put my order in for 10 minutes because she failed to notice that my card hadn't run properly. Today, I observed them give one person's sandwich to another woman, who left with it and had to come back to get the one she had in fact ordered (all the while the woman whose sandwich had been given away was waiting patiently for 20minutes to collect her take-out order. Suffice it to say, the service is awful. And yet, I must be a glutton for punishment because I keep going back for their breakfast sandwiches, lunch specials, and afternoon caffeine kicks.

A coworker recommended this place, so I stopped by for a vanilla latte and a cinnamon swirl croissant. Very good and reasonably priced. I'll definitely return.

Let me start by saying that for coffee options (DD or Starbucks being the others) in the area, EL is my hands down favorite. The coffee is consistant and it's quick. Here's the rub, I don't usually order breakfast with my morning coffee, but today I did. What a MISTAKE! I waited 25 minutes for a BLAND egg and cheese with avocado that was overpriced at best. I was literally the only person in the place (it was very early) when I ordered. About 15 people came and went before anyone asked if I was waiting for something. (I was standing back and then started hovering after I noticed other partons getting their breakfast foods.) The service staff was only mildly apologetic. I'll keep going back for the coffee, but I'll find breakfast elsewhere.

UPDATE: I got a message from the manager, TJ, not even 12 hours after I wrote this. He let me know I was overcharged and offered to make it up to me. Customer service like this is a stand out anywhere, but even more so in an area better known for its ability to churn through long lines quickly. I'll definitely be back.

I was both surprised and excited to see that Espresso Love expanded from the Vineyard to the Financial District. While it's hard to recreate the relaxed, easy-going ambiance that EL creates on MV, I give this place 5 stars for being a quality breakfast/lunch option. The food is just as great as what you would find in the original location. There are creative bagel/veggie options for breakfast, delicious baked goods (the health bar cookie is a favorite), and unique sandwiches. I recommend the Chilmark for a tasty, filling sandwich. Also, there are enough chairs to provide adequate seating during the busy lunch hours- perfect for a casual work meeting or for meeting up with friends.

Stopped in here and had a late lunch - husband and I split a Chicken Avo BLT (chicken BLT with avocado) and it was delicious! It was $7.99 and came with some perfectly crunchy and salty tortilla chips. Chicken was grilled and delicious. My husband was raving about it. Great portions in the sandwich, too. Staff said that all the food served is local and organic which accounts for the semi-high price. It's in the city though and only slightly more pricey than a Panera or other chain cafe. Also, gave us tap water in a cup with no complaints or anything. Friend got the Mac n cheese and it looked delicious- had ham in it and bread crumbs. They close at 6 normally but were closing at 4 this week for holiday hours and we were there until about 4:50 without any complaints or stare downs by staff. (We came in a little before 4 but their holiday hours weren't posted so we weren't aware before ordering.) Great place!

Decent coffee, free Wi-Fi, and a cozy place to sit and work upstairs. Not to mention the day-old (but still incredibly delicious) cookies for half price.

  • Connie M.

This place is functional with free wireless, plenty of space for a meeting, and a menu that (minus ciabatta bread) holds it at four stars even with the inconsistent staff. Please please please keep serving the amazing breakfast sandwiches, fresh ingredients (and the pickle!!), and pastries to die for. Prices are a bit high for the quality of service but not for the food quality. Consistency with staff training would be useful. The staff don't lack smiles, but a consistent cup of coffee would be helpful, considering the price.

  • Mairo H.

Five stars for the amazing scones. Other items they sell don't quite measure up to the 5 star rating, but the scones are truly great. And I don't normally like scones at all! It is nice to have a litle bakery like this in the Financial District.

    (5)
  • Megan T.

My husband and I stopped by here while staying in Boston and were pleasantly surprised. The scones are amazing, staff was friendly, and the place had a fun and relaxed vibe to it. Would definitely go back. If they used organic ingredients and all fair trade coffee I'd be giving 5 stars.

I've been to Espresso Love twice so far and will definitely be back! The coffee is top quality, definitely on par with Starbucks as far as price but you are supporting a local business, and I have found the syrups to be less sugary than what you would get elsewhere. The seating area is also way less crowded than Starbucks, probably because the place is new and has ample seating, so it's quiet enough to have a business meeting. Just tried the homemade veggie burger sandwich and it was AMAZING! So fresh, with delicious toppings, and a really flavorful veggie burger that stuck together well. I'm somewhat obsessed with finding good homemade veggie burgers in the area and this one shot to the top of my list. For that reason, I don't mind the priciness of the menu, because you really do get what you pay for and no other takeout place in the Financial District has food as fresh and delicious as Espresso Love!

    (5)
  • Nicole P.

This place is prime for the financial district, they will get you in and out in 2 minutes or less. Even when it's busy they fly you through but are still nice to the customers. I also have gotten the powerhouse vegetarian sandwich from here a few times and it's delicious!

This coffee shop is a workhorse. Consistent quality and solid service. I would say they serve the 2nd best iced coffee downtown. It's just a slight notch below the new Japanese coffee shop, Ogawa. I tried their food for the first time today and it was perfectly satisfying. I had the sunrise breakfast sandwich. Egg, cheese and bacon on an english muffin. But here's the rub. They use pepper jack cheese, giving the sandwich some spice. I like that kind of thoughtful twist on an old classic. Come here if you want a reliable alternative to Starbucks and Dunks.

A great coffee and sandwich shop in Downtown Boston that evokes memories of hot summers in Martha's Vineyard, Espresso Love serves up a solid ice coffee and great, hearty sandwiches in the financial district. Throughout last summer, Espresso Love was my go-to coffee stop on my walk from the ferry pier to work - or if I had a few minutes between downtown meetings. The staff are always friendly, and the service quick. On most occasions, I stick to a large ice coffee, but on my recent visit, I tried the "Chicken Avo BLT" - plenty of chicken, warmed, and with fresh avocado on toasted sourdough. Overall, a great sandwich, and I'll be returning to try others named for famed places in Martha's Vineyard, which is home to Espresso Love's other location in Edgartown. The seating inside is two floors and tends to fill up at lunchtime. Espresso Love also does catering.

I ordered the veggie wrap and it was so delicious. LOVED the feta dill cream so next time I would order extra. They didn't do a great job at spreading it, and most of the cream was just in the middle of the wrap. same with the Havarti. Everything in the bakery case looks delicious and I can't wait to go back and try something. I have my eye on the banana chocolate whoopie pie. I'm so excited to have found Espresso Love!

This is a great little spot to stop in for a cup of coffee, just about any baked good or even a quick sandwich. There is some seating inside on the first level and for more seating and the restrooms head on upstairs. The wifi is free and works well too. My husband and I stopped in here when we were waiting to head on to out next spot to kill some time and browse the internets. He had and iced coffee and I had some tea. I would definitely come back to try a bite to eat.

  • Julia K.

I came here to try out their breakfast sandwiches and was a little disappointed. The english muffin breakfast sandwich and breakfast burrito were both mediocre in size relative to the premium price. I understand that these small independent coffee shops need to charge more but at least have a quality product. I still think that Thinking Cup or Nero has better food options and pricing. Also the breakfast burrito was smothered in cold salsa that made the eating experience very unpleasant. It would have been better to just put the salsa on the side for patrons to add if they want it or at least use room temp salsa (?) Coffee was tasty so perhaps skip a savory snack and go for a baked good instead.

Cute little shop to get a quick breakfast or coffee in the morning. Prices aren't as bad as Faneuil Hall so I would come here if you wanted a bagel. A lot of space to do work if you come in the morning but it closes early in the afternoon. :( Staff is really nice and friendly and definitely my spot to grab breakfast in the morning when I feel like splurging.

  • Cristina C.

I feel like I'm cheating on my coffee shop if I tell you about Espresso Love.. but I have been here a few times *shhh* and they're just efficient and it tastes yummy. I've gotten a bagel sandwich, something with avocado so that was obviously delicious and I was hungover so it was even more delicious. And the Vienna Latte, sheeeit. If you work in the area, skip your average coffee chain and go fall in Love.

Good service. Nice espresso drinks. It's a bit difficult to find a seat. Though a terrific choice when looking for a Starbucks alternative in the Financial district.

Awesome coffee and lunch spot. I was really impressed with how low they keep their espresso prices - $3 for a double - not bad. Drip coffees are cheap too and run LARGE. Their cobb salad was surprisingly excellent. The chicken was marinated in a light lime dressing and was very tender. The avocado was very fresh and perfectly ripe, bacon portion was generous. There was no egg or cheese - odd but the avocado adequately supplied the creaminess. Staff are hipsters - but friendly, not surly ones. I requested a late in the game dressing substitution and the cashier must have checked with the line cook 3 times to make sure he accommodated me. Answer: he did. Large, open space - which protects you from lunch time crowding. Great experience, will be back.

Busy little cafe that serves coffee, pastries and sandwiches. The 12 ounce mocha ($3.79) was perfectly balanced between a cappuccino and a smooth chocolate taste. The sunrise breakfast sandwiches ($3.49) is an English muffin, egg, bacon and pepper jack cheese. This was a bit on the greasy side but sustained me well for several hours as I walked around Boston. Overall my rating is mostly for the fast service and coffee.

    (4)
  • Neal A.

Was looking for a cheap egg breakfast so I got the southwestern breakfast burrito without the wrap for 3.50. Just what I needed. They have a lot of drinks but I just had a coffee and sat at a table for an hour. Steady stream of customers on their way to work, but the tables never got crowded.

    (5)
  • Ngan T.

The space is clean a cute. Lines move quickly. Coffee is ok, but admittedly I'm no connoisseur. The pastries! Oh. My. God. The pastries! one of the best scones I've had! The cookies are occasionally too underdone, but when they get them right--quite possibly one of the best options in the area.

A great alternative to Starbucks. Large menu for a coffee shop and plenty of seating which is rare in the city!

Croissant = Good Service = Good Coffee = Ok Price = A little high

  • Alex L.

Chill coffee and tea cafe in the heart of downtown. The interior is reasonably spacious with lots of windows. It's brighter than Starbucks but not quite as comfy, better for a grab-and-go breakfast than sitting awhile. Service is adequate and the lines inside move quickly even when they're long. ELove's menu of coffees, teas, and other drinks is quite extensive and rotates seasonally. They also have a wide variety of pastries and sandwiches, all of which look quite tasty. The pumpkin spice black tea I ordered was OK, but it didn't taste much like pumpkin spice. I'd recommend trying something else. Espresso Love's biggest problem is their wifi - or rather, the lack thereof. It's intermittent at best, possibly useful for reading BuzzFeed since you can load 12 articles at once but definitely not serviceable for doing actual work.

First of all- I have always been a huge fan of Expresso Love until now. I normally go there at least once a week to get lunch or breakfast (for the past year or so). They have a great selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, baked goods, etc. Today, I am really disappointed with their soup, which was their soup of the day. I ordered carrot ginger soup and it tasted disgusting. It was so bad that I had to throw it away. Carrot ginger soup is very easy to make and I am very surprised that they screwed it up. I hope this was a one time thing......

They have some of the best coffee and espresso in the area but I won't go there again. I waited 10-15 minutes this morning in the uncomfortably warm area and never got my drink. This has happened before and usually I just ask the barista. Today, maybe it was the heat, or that I was about to sweat through my shirt (why is it so warm and humid in there?), but I just walked out without the $5 coffee I paid for and vowed to never return.

After giving Espresso love another shot, I have become almost a regular. That being said, this is strictly a coffee review. I love their hazelnut coffee, and just about any of their drinks, but the food can still step it up a notch.

They have almond milk! Was able to also build my own bfast sandwich with a Multigrain bread (rather than a bagel). Great, friendly staff- especially so early in the morning.

Love this place. quick and close to work and friendly service. I love the almond joy lattes hot or cold. They've got a bunch of different breakfast, sandwiches, baked goods, etc.

  • Kate J.

I give Espresso Love much love because this place is a solid bet. They're very consistent, have excellent coffee, delicious food, and wonderful service. The baristas will often draw fun foam pictures in my lattes to brighten my day. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered and I'm certain if I were, the friendly staff would instantly fix the problem. I usually order black iced coffee or unsweetened iced green tea, and it's always good - though I'd imagine hard to screw up. I've never tried any of their pastries but am always very tempted because the selection looks incredible.

  • Tyler G.

If you want espresso, I recommend this place. It was a decent cup of joe. If you're looking for somewhere to hang out and work because they have free WiFi, I DON'T recommend this place. The internet speed is just fast enough to make you think things will get better, but it never does. After an hour and a half of spotty connection, I decided to find somewhere else to try and work because I was spending more time waiting for pages to load than I was being productive.

Quick cafe in financial district I ordered a bold coffee and a mike's breakfast sandwich on everything. The coffee was very good. The sandwich menu had a bit to be desired for options so I decided on the mike's which had avocado tomato and cream cheese. It was good but didn't compare to the New York bagels I am used to. Service was quick. Coffee came out as I paid and the sandwich took around 3 min. Definitely worth the quick walk from my hotel to grab breakfast.

    (3)
  • Eric W.

Almost everything is good here (sandwiches, soups, pastry, coffee, hot chocolate, etc), but the magic is that they get you in and out quickly even during the lunch rush. Fear not the long line because somehow they move it along quickly, and get you out in no time. I recommend the katama chicken sandwich.

    (4)
  • Conor M.

There's a woman who works here who is just flat out rude. I refuse to go there if I even see her behind the counter. Has no customer service and a bad attitude.

    (2)
  • Jason H.

Coffee is perhaps best in downtown Boston. Baked goods are fresh, and lunches are legit, though the most important feature of Espresso Love is the welcoming, kind staff. This is my goto -- support a great, small business :-)

  • Kevin S.

I had lunch there after doing the Freedom Trail tour. I found this place courtesy of Yelp. It was great, it was around midday and there were quite a few white collars in there on their lunch break. The place was neat and clean with seating upstairs and the staff were very nice as well. The coffee, as us Aussies would agree with, was not that great however my sanga was good and it came with crinkled chips as well which was different from what we get back home.

  • Jackie K.

This is my new go-to because it's actually affordable and I can drink their drink coffee, normally I find drop far too bitter. They have vegan menu items and discount refills as well as coffee cards. Really love this place, only complaint is that it gets far too hot and wifi is slower than I like.

    (5)
  • Jay J.

Gluten-Free Breakfast Sandwich!! Quite possibly the only one available downtown, nobody else has had an option available. Oh, and it was delicious! So was the coffee. I'm so happy I thought to pop in and ask them.

  • Sarah F.

So excited to find this place via Yelp off the beaten touristy path while we were in Boston walking the Freedom Trail. Great atmosphere, very clean, plenty of seating, nice view of the financial district. Seems to be a go-to place in the area for people who work nearby. Truly excellent coffee with milk properly frothed... just thrilled with everything in general.

LOVE them on the Vineyard and LOVE them in downtown! Perfect little café to grab their delicious muffins, croissants, bagels, breakfast sandwiches or baked goods in the morning... And an awesome spot for delicious sandwiches, and wraps for lunch. I fell in love with their fresh baked muffins while summering on Martha's Vineyard ages ago... And when they opened this second spot, I about died. Thank goodness this location does not disappoint! Their muffins (namely: triberry, blueberry, raspberry, peach) are stunningly delicious - and some times right out of the oven! Spinach and feta croissants are yummy. Bagel sandwiches are great too! Lunch specials are ever changing and ALWAYS delicious. Quiches, and chicken salad are my fav :) Cute spot, and great service. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

  • Dave O.

So many coffee shops in the area buy the same ultra-bitter beans and call it good coffee. Grabbed an iced coffee and a cookie here after lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Very tasty...strong flavor but not overwhelming. The cookie was amazeballs. Definitely going back to try some espresso drinks. EDIT: Went back again today...I swear the iced coffee has a slight toffee flavor to it. It's very very good. I think this is my new go-to coffee spot in the financial district.

  • Raj B.

The serving sizes are tiny and stuff is so overpriced in general. The service is fast and friendly but you leave with a bad taste that at the end of the day you have been overcharged for something which is not that great or filling.

    (3)
  • Patty G.

I first found Espresso Love in the Vineyard and I couldn't believe my luck when I found it on Yelp while searching for a breakfast place in Boston. Espresso Love again? Yes please! Well they didn't disappoint. I had the Broad Street Breakfast Sandwich. It was delicious! The coffee was good and great price. The atmosphere is very modern, much unlike the EL in MV. I prefer the atmosphere and decor of the location on the Vineyard but this location was very nice too, just in a different way. This location is in the Financial District so it's definitely not a touristy spot.

  • Emily S.

Came here for lunch and it was really impressive. The desserts and pastries in the case were incredibly enticing, and everything sounds delicious. Good luck if you have room though, because their sandwiches are HUGE! I got the "mama" and it was amazing, and could have easily been two meals. The honey mustard sauce was delicious. My co-workers ordered a variety of sandwiches which were all huge. One thing everyone commented on was the use of real, good quality chicken. It looked juicy and plentiful. The breads were tasty and fresh. My coffee, the "Spanish Coffee" was really yummy as well. I love that they offer almond milk and soy milk as options. Make sure to get a frequent flyer card, buy 10 coffee beverages get one free! Definitely will return.

Mocha was great, the pastries were good but I didnt find them to be anything too special. We went at like 10 am, line was long but moved quick. Convienent location right in downtown.

Stopped in for the first time today as part of my ongoing search for a great coffee place near Faneuil Hall to spend an hour before work and was not disappointed! Not too crowded, free WiFi, good prices, and Thai iced coffee! Didn't try any of the food offerings. (But prices and selection looked promising!) Also got service with a smile, which is always nice. :)

The drip coffee in my hotel wasn't doing it for me. I knew I needed REAL coffee. Something that was roasted and ground sometime this decade. And due to my lactose issues - something with soy! I happened upon Espresso Love and ordered my old stand bye - large soy latte. And it was good. Really good. Rich. Great coffee flavor. Hot enough to warm me, but not so scalding I had to let it sit for 10 minutes before sipping. The food menu looked great - the pastries in the case were quite tempting. But I was on a mission for bean juice - and the mission was a complete success! Service was fast and friendly. The place was clean, clean, clean!

    (4)
  • Ryan B.

Excellent espresso flavor to the latte, with a caramel after-note. Only warm though...possibly to slow the dissolution of the foam, which may have been a bit too thick/dry. The croissant had some butter in it, but I don't think it was all butter from the middling flavor, and the texture wasn't quite as crackly as it should be. The blueberry scone had good blueberry flavor and no off notes, but the texture is more like a muffin with a crunchy top than a scone. In all, I will probably come back for the pretty-good coffee, but I am hoping to find better cafe-pastries in the area.

    (4)
  • Jerry B.

Hole in the wall surprise and goodness. The coffee was full of flavor straight from the pot. Hook that to a great English muffin with egg, bacon and pepper jack cheese and you have a great way to start the day.

I work a block away from Espresso Love and come here occasionally for lunch. The Chicken Avo BLT is a nice little sandwich (and occasionally exceptional) and the coffee here is delicious, but I have found that during peak hours their quality tends to suffer a bit. Breakfast sandwiches are only so-so. Come here for lunch either before or after the rush or for a coffee in the morning or early afternoon. Overall, I am torn between a three and four star rating. Decided on a three because of the large number of other solid alternatives in the area.

  • Kirs P.

As God as my witness I'm never going to Starbucks ever again. Well. At least while I'm at work and Espresso Love is literally right next door. Superior coffee/espresso drinks. Superior baked goods. And I'm seriously in love with the Powerhouse sandwich. All with above average service, with slightly above average prices.

  • Roxana F.

Despite the fact that I go to Espresso Love at least once every other day, I have yet to write a review on it. Which is unusual because I LOVE this place. I think their coffee is some of the BEST in Boston. It's not overly acidic, it doesn't taste burnt...it tastes SMOOTH and has depth and is delicious. And it's cheap. They also have baked goods. We like this. We like it when we can have a blueberry scone or banana bread or pumpkin walnut bread with our iced coffee. We like that we can take a 3 minute walk from work and get ourselves an afternoon pick-me-up. And we also like it when we can get both of those for about $5. You know what else we like? Their oatmeal offering. I can get a huge portion of oatmeal with my choice of toppings for $2. THAT'S A STEAL. They also have a decent selection of breakfast sandwiches and lunch offerings...I've had a salad, a veggie burger, and a breakfast sandwich from here. All were decent, nothing too special or crazy. Definitely recommend this place!

Yes!!! As far as lunch in the financial district is concerned, this place is IT (as long as you're craving a salad or sandwich)! I normally get the Joe which is roastbeef, red onions, (I get sprouts), lettuce and a horseradish mayo on rosemary focaccia. Everything on this sandwich is delicious, but the bread makes it for sure! In addition, to the sandwich goodness, they have almond milk and make a flavorful iced chai latte. Surprisingly enough, it's hard to find a tasty one, especially with almond milk. I didn't give a full 5 because I always get the same thing (hey, I don't buy lunch a lot and when I go here I just want that sandwich!) so I've never been able to try anything else, or any of the baked goods, also, it's a bit pricey for lunch. If you're looking for a top notch sandwich or salad, skip Sebs and come here!

  • Silpa S.

I love this cafe. I come in always mid to late mornings on the weekdays. It's always quiet at that time with just a few customers around, so you don't have to worry about not finding a table. Watch out around lunch time though cause they get busy. There's a little sitting area up upstairs which is nice if you don't want to be in the way of traffic with people milling in and out of the cafe. People also don't mind if you stay for 2 or 3 hours sipping on coffee and enjoying the free wifi. I love that about this place, so I find it to be an ideal place to get work done in the morning hours.

Delicious espresso, not bitter like Starbucks and only $3 for a double....so far I have been able to resist the pastry case but the bars and cakes look so amazing . I know I will break soon and I'm looking forward to when that day comes!

Really the best coffee in the neighborhood. Five stars for that. Old Stinky P. has not tried many of the yummy pastries though, as he is quite porky...and has to drop a few L B's...so his thong will not snap.

As a caveat, I usually never rate restaurants or establishments on Yelp, but today is an exception. Instead of just grabbing a quick coffee before work, I decided to try their breakfast wrap. Upon my return to the office, I realized the wrap was freezing. It must have been the last burrito order before they ran out, because the eggs were ice cold and saturated in salt. Devastated, I called Espresso Love to ask if I may have another fresh one tomorrow for breakfast. To my surprise, they sent an employee on foot to personally deliver me a piping hot wrap and a gift card for my troubles. I was so shocked by their responsiveness and willingness to remedy the problem! Never have I ever had such a negative experience turned upside down into something so positive. I give five stars to Espresso Love! Thanks you guys, I really appreciate your service.

I've been coming here for almost 6 months and I think I'm finally ready to give up. The lattes here are good when compared to other options in Boston but they're not great. Really my top gripe is the staff here is quite rude. I've brought multiple co-workers and business people here and I've heard their comments about the staff which to be honest mimic my own sentiments. Everytime I come here which is literally 1x a day for coffee, I hope they'll be polite and friendly. Unfortunately this is just not the case. I guess I just wanted to support local rather than star____ (fill in the blank). If there was any other decent latte option in the financial district, I would go there instead. Thinking cup makes an amazing latte but it's quite far unfortunately.

Their baked goods are outta this world, so damn tasty. I finally went to get something for lunch & settled on a veggie sandwich. My more important choice was the cookie I was looking at, more like drooling over. I got one of their veggie sandwiches which was good, but they forgot my cookie, which made me very sad. So I ended up calling them about it AND they fixed it by bringing it over to me, yep at work (& brought me extra). Wow, who does that? I was whining & complaining to my co-workers about not having my cookie. At the end I did get it which made my day.

At my company we have lunch catered in by clients 3-4 days a week. That being said, I have experienced my fair share of lunch options for office lunches in Boston. We were recently sent a lunch from here and everyone was delighted. The BLT's with turkey smell and taste heavenly. They are not overly loaded with condiments and are still sliced small enough to be able to gracefuly eaten during a lunch. The dessert tray is also a real treat! No more dried out oversized cookies for us! I would recommend anyone catering an office lunch to use Espresso Love.

This place is adorable. They close a bit early, but their upstairs seating area is a perfect study spot. Great food to go with great drinks. We came in the afternoon, which apparently was WAY too late for the berry scones -- the cashier said they usually run out around 9a. Sad.

I'm here literally every single day during the work week. Staple to my afternoons. Coffee is great, I've had better americanos elsewhere but the lattes are awesome. Get the veggie burger. Or one of the breakfast sandwiches (cheap and delicious!).

I have never stayed in the North End before so when an old friend wanted to meet for coffee, I needed to know the best quaint, unique coffee shop to go to. The friend I was staying with recommended Espresso Love and it sounded perfect. Espresso Royale is my favorite coffee shop anywhere in Boston. She made the mistake of comparing the two places which raised my hopes for a unique and yummy place. Although EL was great, I didn't think it compared to ERC. Espresso Love had great coffee (Chuck loved the strong "Love Blend"!) and lattes. The service was great- everyone was friendly. They even brought my coffee up to me on the balcony when Chuck and I got too absorbed in talking to know that my coffee was missing! I owe a big thank you to the yelpers that reviewed the place because I tried the scones and they were AH-mazing! The Blueberry scone was great and Chuck loved the raspberry almond scone also Chuck and I missed the "cozy" feeling that I get from my favorite coffee spots though.... Ideally this place would have more lounge chairs and couches to really maximize bonding time!

These guys and their continual need to create the most perfect Cobb Salad known to man is just wrong. Wrong! DO YOU HEAR? Someone must stop them from putting that tantalizing abundance of perfectly ripened avocado, fabulous grilled chicken and crazy good bacon into that salad. This is a matter of life and death for all the other salad places in the Financial District. They are in imminent danger of losing their clientele to Espresso Love because of their illegal Cobb Salad. This is urgent so you better get the Mayor on the phone.

This is my go to lunch place in the financial district. Everything seems to be freshly made - pastries, sandwiches, soups, mac & cheese, salads, quiche, and even casseroles! Their daily specials are creative and definitely worth checking out. I usually tend to lean towards the salads, but the few sandwiches I've had are delicious - especially the Chappie! (Chicken Salad on toasted 12 grain bread) Occasionally, I'll grab an Americano with my lunch and have never been disappointed with the quality. The espresso is much better than the chain options in the area. Oh and the pastries! The heath bar cookie is dangerous - I have to stop myself every time from getting one. The scones are also delicious, as well as the coconut cake! If you can afford a calorie spurge, it's definitely worth it!

Best scones currently within the scope of my awareness. Made with skim buttermilk, they are very tasty and potentially habit forming. The coffee and espresso drinks are top notch. The iced coffee is good to drink black (I note this because it's often not at many places in town). I don't love the breakfast sandwiches but I do like them. I would like to see a few more hearty options but for now the Broad St Bagel with egg and avocado is quite good. I really like that they stay open a bit later and on the weekends.

Quite possible the best scones on the planet...Ok, that may or may not be true, but one bite and you'll be in heaven. Amazing muffins and baked goods. Pricey, yes! But worth it. I'm not even a coffee drinker but I will go here any day for the baked goods

A lot of people don't realize that often times a cafe will get their pastries and other baked goods from another place, who probably made it the day before. Not at Espresso Love. All of their pastries are made each morning from scratch. I had the blueberry scone and it was unreal, and I'm not even a pastry person. I also had an Americano that was fantastic; I'm still sipping it as we speak. I had it with no sugar or milk (another rarity) and it tastes earthy and delish. I did happen to see the New Yorker on the menu - a bagel with cream cheese, lox, onions, capers and a tomato. This is an extremely hard thing to find in the Financial District -- or the North End, for that matter. This will satisfy my hungover craving for Jew food and double as a passive aggressive way to stick it to people in the office. Whatevs, the smell of lox and onions never bothered me! The only drawback is the price. It's pricey...more so than starbucks. But that isn't going to stop me!

The good - very good coffee, very good lunch menu. (I've never tried anything else.) The bad - there is absolutely no way I should be standing in line for 15 minutes at 6:45 AM to get a cup of coffee. With only 3 people ahead of me, no less. The ugly - the sandwiches are a little pricey, but this is downtown Boston, so it's to be expected.

My workweek daily ritual of macchiato and an oatmeal cookie rarely disappoints! I've tried a few other things (breakfast sandwiches, lunch dishes, other coffee drinks) and have always been impressed. A great place to grab breakfast, lunch, or something to save you from that pesky 3pm slump.

I've had scones and coffee here, and they also catered a presentation I was doing. The scone I had was A+++(actually, just A++, that last plus was Kahlua). It's a decent place to hang out and have some coffee. Everything's clean, there's WiFi, did I mention the great scone? Anything else I type beyond this point is just filler or hyperbole. Super fantastic awesome scones! Coffee that's pretty okay! People at your corporate presentation will like the food and hoard the moon pies! (OK, this part is absolutely true and not embellished. Those peeps went nuts for the moon pies).

Years ago, I was doing some work in Edgartown in Martha's Vineyard. Everyone there recommended that I go to lunch at Espresso Love. The first time I went there I got the Katama Chicken and instantly fell in love. I'd go there every day for lunch. When I heard they were opening a location in the financial district, I was ecstatic. I go there now at least once a week for lunch and still get the same thing. Chicken, chipotle mayo, pepperjack, onion, lettuce, tomato and the most delicious focaccia bread. The Katama Chicken sandwich. Don't want to even try anything else! Oh I guess I've had the cookies too and those are fantastic.

This used to be my go-to lunch spot. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and it's across the street from my office. HOWEVER, today was the third time I had ordered a salad with an addition (curry chicken, chicken salad, sliced turkey, etc.), that was left off my order. When I was handed my salad, I was specifically told it was a Garden salad with curry chicken, but when I got to my office, I noticed it was just a tupperware of lettuce and onions. I'm tired of paying for the mistakes, so I won't be going back anymore - it's not worth it to keep enduring wrong orders.

The food is fantastic -- like, wish-I'd-never-tried-the-grilled-chicken-BLT fantastic. They installed a railing in front of the door to prevent people slipping and falling. The chocolate chip cookies; my "2:30 feeling" weakness. Well done, Espresso Love; well done.

This is a little piece of the Vineyard in the heart of downtown Boston. Their breakfast sandwiches are tasty, fresh, and affordable (under $5). Their lunch sandwiches, while delicious, are pricey for the amount of food you receive (although on-par with other specialty sandwich shops downtown). Pastries are fabulous, and the service is fast and friendly. The brewed coffee is roasted to a medium depth and has a balanced acidity. Their espresso beverages are rumored to be delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely the friendliest staff and everything they make is delicious. Only complaint is trying to get a sandwich or bagel in the AM... their turnaround times vary drastically... probably somewhat expected given the time of day and the buildings full of hungry bankers that swoop in around 9:15. Still, it'd be nice to see them add an additional staff member on the line to clear out the backlog of breakfast orders. Prices are fair - slightly inflated due to the location but that's to be expected.

Stop in for the scones, stay for the hot chix. I've liked pretty much everything in their bakery case, but EL's scones are my favorite, esp. the cranberry coconut (Thursday) and raspberry white chocolate (Friday) varieties. Minor quibble with using Nutella as the filling in the chocolate croissant. I like Nutella, but Nutella isn't chocolate, plus it melts when baked and just isn't right for a croissant filling. Also, their cinnamon frosted croissants don't work for me - croissants' selling point is they're supposed to be light and flaky, but they cannot be that when burdened with cinnamon roll goop. EL's dark roast coffee is pretty good, though I wish they would fill the cup instead of defaulting to "leaving some room." The coffee drinks, you wonder? Meh, I wish they'd crush Starbucks on price or quality but they don't on either. That's some expensive hot milk you got in your hand there, sucka! The soups and sammiches are all fine-to-dandy. They make a good soup. Advice for the proprietor: Don't sell the small, it's too small and makes your customers feel ripped off, whereas $6 for the large that is a genuinely hearty portion seems fair and in line with financial district lunch spots. The sammiches at EL are dee-licious, which is good, cos they're not the cheapest you'll find in the fi-di. The help? Oh, my, the help! Hot blooded males be advised: They wear snug jeans and they're watching their figures. And I'm watching their figures! As Robin Hitchcock warbled long, long ago: "So you think you're in (Espresso) looooooovvvve? Well you probably are...."

This place makes very good scones, although they look more like biscuits. I tried the peach and walnut scone and it was delicious. On a side note the ventilation in here is pretty bad, which is a pet peeve of mine, and you will probably walk out smelling like whatever they are making.

I'm in (espresso) love! Finally, a quality sandwich place in the Financial District. Since I discovered Espresso Love a few weeks ago I've been going there at least 3 times/week for lunch. They serve inventive sandwiches with high quality meats, a diverse bread selection, and very fresh veggies. I was pleasantly surprised that my grilled curry chicken salad sandwich was incredibly tasty without being laden with mayo (a la Al's), and recently tried the homemade veggie burger with avocado, lettuce, tomato, sprouts and honey mustard - all I can say is WOW! I know some people complained about the prices but I find them to be pretty standard for the area - $7-9 for a great, filling sandwich is alright with me. Definitely give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!

I finally made it. I have been meaning to try Espresso Love since they opened up right across the street from work. The place is extremely clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The sandwhich I got.....a turkey avocado blt (asked for it special, because I didn't want chicken) was amazing. You might be asking yourself why only 4 stars with such a rave review........the price......$13 for a brewed ice tea, bag of vickies chips, and the sandwich. Don't get me wrong I will go back, but due to budgetary constraints it won't be nearly as much as I would like.

Had the blueberry scone which was excellent and chock full of blueberries (I recommend heating it) and a latte which was nothing great. Do not get the bagels here cause they are terrible (the counter person said they do not make them there and it shows). Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Since my last review Espresso Love has changed their hours. They are no longer open on the weekends - total bummer! Also since my last review we had the opportunity to try some breakfast and lunch sandwiches. They have one breakfast sandwich - The Islander - that is simply sliced cucumbers, veggie cream cheese and bacon on a toasted bagel - it's awesome!

Coffee shops are a dime a dozen in Boston, but this one is absolutely adorable. Good hazelnut coffee. Made me a lox and veggie sandwich not on the menu and charged me just $5... Ridiculously cheap for the great breakfast I had. I will definitely be back.

Mhhhh....this place was decent, but nothing out of the ordinary. The avacodos and bacon on my sadwich were delightful (fresh and crisp respectively), but I'm not sure they justified the $9 cost of a pretty basic wrap. Maybe the baked goods are better, but I probably wouldn't go back to find out.

I ordered The Joe. It came with a pickle, which was a big plus in my opinion. I love a place that gives you pickles. The sandwich itself was just ok. It's on focaccia (sp?) which I normally like, but this one seemed to be a bit on the dry side. There was a generous portion of roast beef. The cheese was havarti, which I really enjoy on a roast beef. The veggies (tomato, lettuce and onion) were all nice and fresh. It also says it comes with horseradish mayo and while I see a white spread, I don't taste any horseradish. I like that extra little bite of horseradish on my roast beef so I'm always excited when I see it on the menu. This was lacking. Overall, not a terrible sandwich, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way for another. I might suggest they try putting it on an onion roll instead. I did also get a White Chocolate Frozen Cappuccino. And even though I'm not a coffee drinker and didn't really taste any white chocolate, I drank the whole thing before I got halfway back to my office. I'd say that means it wasn't bad. I also wanted to try something sweet after reading so many comments about their pastries and such. On the way in, I saw Whoopie Pies mentioned on their sandwich board outside, so I decided to try one. Not too bad. Not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst either. If they were closer to my office, I might stop in and try their breakfast, but since my office is right outside South Station and Espresso Love isn't...I'm not sure I'll ever take the walk over there in the morning.
