The clam chowder here was delicious. They added a bit too many potatoes for my liking, thus making the chowder thicker with the starch, but the flavor was great. They are quite generous with the clams as well, which is nice. The lobster roll was good, but not the best I've had. I didn't really like their mayo sauce, and the lettuce they used was not that fresh. However, the bread they used on the roll was perfectly toasted. Boston Chowda Co is the best it gets for a food court restaurant, and the clam chowder is comparable to the one I had at Atlantic Fish Co. at a better value. Would recommend stopping by for a quick bite for your lobster roll / clam chowder combo fix!

Can't give it 5 stars since it's in a Food Court at a Mall, but the food here is damn good. It would be good even if it wasn't in a food court, and wasn't as cheap as it is here. Seriously, I had my doubts but this place rocks. I was tempted by the "Lobster Pie" and Lobster Mac n Cheese, but my already almost-full stomach forced me to go for the Lobster Bisque in a Bread Bowl (I know, such a downgrade, right?). At first, I was a little disappointed as there weren't any big chunks of Lobster in the soup that I'm used to. However, the soup still had the Lobstery-buttery taste we all love. It was creamy and delicious, and the bread bowl was the perfect complement. It was just what I was in the mood for. I also heard great things about their Lobster Roll and Clam Chowder(a?). Fresh Lobster in a food court? It happens in Boston, I guess. Us Wisconsin folk will just have to remain satisfied with our Rocky Roccoco's and McDonalds.

This is a food stand in the Prudential Mall that serves decent lobster rolls and chowders! I got the lunch combo once with a large lobster roll and clam chowder and it was only twenty something... way cheaper than the lobster rolls at other places! The quality of the meat wasn't all claw either! I like that the dressing was light and it was really filling. The clam chowder was also creamy and delicious! Perfect for the cold Boston days! I normally don't like food from the food court, but I give this place a thumbs up!

This was at the food court of the mall. It was ok taste and price wise. Nothing really to rave about. The chowder was a little more runny than I'm used to. The lobster roll was not bad; however, I had another one later on that had less mayo or whatever it is they use. This one was a slightly heavier. Not a must go. I only stopped by because it was in the area and I needed to eat.

Chowda! Chowdah! Since I am not a native of Boston, I knew before I left I had to have a bowl. I did not expect to have a delicious bowl of chowder in a mall food court. But, folks, hear me out. It was one of the best bowls of chowder I had in Boston. The service was not all that friendly - but at lunch time, I would hardly expect "service with a smile" attitude. The line was quite long, but the wait was well worth it. Considering the hefty price tag, I found out later it was actually a decently good deal for a bowl in the area. The meat chunks were small but overall i loved the creamy texture.

Well I must say, I would never have expected to get a tasty dish in a food court at mall. But given my eternal trust in Yelp, I went with with Boston Chowda despite some apprehension. I was intrigued by the idea of having lobster bisque served inside a roll of bread, so I went with that. Ended up being pretty good and overall enjoyable. The bisque could have been a bit more seafoody and had a few more lobster chunks, but given my original lowered expectations, this place still outperformed. Definitely not nearly as good as some of the bisque or chowder that I've had elsewhere, but definitely worth seeking out if in the mall.

If you want your lobster roll/clam chowder fix, this definitely gets the job done. Price - Relatively cheap. For a jumbo lobster roll and medium cup of clam chowder, it cost $23.19. Quality - The clam chowder could be a little richer. But honestly, for food court chowder, it's pretty good. I've just had so much clam chowder in Boston that I'm going to say it's mediocre. It was more watery and had more potato than others that I've tried. The lobster roll had large chunks of lobster in it. I liked that it didn't have a lot of mayo, and the roll was perfectly toasted and not too buttery. Overall, it was a good way to eat a lobster roll, but the lobster seemed to be missing some flavor. The staff was really nice and helpful, and when I told my friend that I would pay (since we were going to dinner after and this was an appetizer) the man at the counter said "LET HIM PAY." And my friend did pay. They know how to treat the ladies!

The food here was surprisingly good...almost great. I had a lobster roll which was really good. The roll itself was toasted just right and was buttery and delicious. The lobster was piled high (not as high as other places), tender and dressed well. The flavor was good, but a little bland for my taste. The clam chowder was good but a little thin for my taste. Overall, I'd give it 4 stars... It's not the best lobster roll PR clam chowder I've had, but it's still worth stopping at if you're in the mall (And definitely the best option).

Hands down the best Lobster roll I have ever had!! Don't go to the one in Quincy market because they are lazy there. HERE at Prudential shops! Warm garlicky crunchy brioche bun, large pieces of tail meat and no extra fillers other than mayo and small piece of lettuce. The actual Chowder is meh, I would not call it bad but, it is nothing memorable and still believe we have the best chowders in SEATTLE! $18 for the roll , soup and drinks sounds expensive in a food court but, it is better than any sit down restaurant one I have had. Plus much better service! ( yes I am looking at you UNION OYSTER!)

I had two lunches here while attending a conference in the Sheraton next door. First time I got the lobster roll special ($17?) which was a large lobster roll, cup of soup (I got New England clam) and drink. Oh, and slaw too! This is a great deal. The lobster roll was every bit as good as the $23 one I had a few days later at the Barking Crab. Soup was excellent. The other time I had lunch I got a small cup of the lobster bisque. ($3.99?). Another bargain. Rich lobster flavor with a couple of good sized chunks. I wish we had this chain in the San Francisco Bay Area!

I only truly ever eat two things here: Lobster roll and Lobster bisque. It have never let me down and shall be my go to comfort food! Yes I'm lobster-roll obsessed and have had my fair share of Lobster roll in Boston and around the states. If I can truly rate them, it would be fair if I could get all the lobster rolls in one day and taste them right there to give you a FINAL Rating, but that is but a futile dream of a broke college student. So I will do it from my recollection: This place Lobster roll is bomb. It's self is a damn shinning 5 star out of 5. The roll is slightly sweet and it carries big chunks of lobster meat in its sleeve and hug it close but not too tightly. Eating one is about self-control, because without it I would be order 3 and cramming down my face. Literally so distraught from getting out of exam my body just carry me to the Pru so I can cheer myself up with some lobster roll. The favor is on point and everything sings well together. I truly believe this is one of my favorite place for lobster roll so far. Yes it's in a fricken food court. Go figure. Faneuil Hall also have a BCC but this one is much closer to me. Plus I can skip the lines and the wait here since no one know the secret about this awesome lobster roll yet. Muhahaa. Lobster bisque is really good also, just something that's really comforting for post-exam trauma I've tried the Lobster MacnCheese once, it was really really rich and filling I could barely eat all of it. I think the price for the combo is perfect. No complains. Most of the time the server are quite nice and make my food quickly :) Overall, I've limited my self to coming here once a week. You know too much lobster roll increase your LDL and what not.

I stayed in Boston at the Sheraton for eight days. I'm pretty sure I had lunch at Boston Chowda seven out of those eight days. Interestingly, the lobster roll wasn't my favorite. The pile of lettuce at the base of the roll was off-setting. The guy who clearly runs things at the ordering counter even gave me extra lobster, and it was good, but like I said, not my favorite. My favorites were the lobster mac and cheese pie and the chicken Caesar wrap. The lobster mac and cheese was coated in a buttery, crumbled Ritz cracker crust, and the interior was a cheesy, gooey, pile of al dente pasta and lumps of lobster. I believe it was the claw meat, which was succulent and sweet and every bit as delicious as I had imagined. For the price, which I think was maybe $12? you get a lot of lobster. These Chowda guys aren't stingy. I also highly recommend the chowda, because duh, and the lobster bisque. Silky smooth, sweet, savory and creamy, it was wonderful when I didn't have lobster as my main dish. Lobster all day errday in Boston, Huzzah!

This is the first time I've been back since the lumpy eyelash incident. Today, my bisque tasted like dish soap. Yay! Won't be going back. Worth the trip to Fanneuil for much better bisque.

Decent clam chowder from the mall food court! And really nice service! Friend got the lobster roll special. I didn't taste it, but it looked good -- and she smashed it!

I am not a fan of lobster nor clam chowder and I can tell you that this please was the best I have had. A little better than San Fransisco.

Pretty good but too pricy for mall food. The corn chowder was delish and the lobster roll was buttery.

Overall good chowder. I have better like legal seafoods. But I wanted to try. On to the next.

I was visiting Copley with a friend one day and decided to have lunch at the food court. I spotted this spot in the back and was excited to try the clam chowder. There were too many potatoes in it. I prefer a smoother chowder but theirs tasted OK. Service was average.

    (3)
  • Lynda M.

I come here for their lobster bisque, my favorite source of Omega 3s. Only reason I don't give 5 starts us b/c it's in the food court. Delicious & nutritious!

  • Lillian Y.

Food is good and what is quite special is that the owners are very good with great hospitality!! The lobster rolls are pretty good. And free drinks are offered with each meal. That's it.

  • Mauricio A.

You don't need to go to an expensive restaurant to have a great chowder. The one these guys serve is the best one we've had in Boston, and we have been in that quest for sometime now. In addition, the service was excellent. Highly recommended lunch option in Prudential!

  • Lynn J.

This branch off the chain is located conveniently at the food court in the Shops at the Prudential center mall. The food is consistently good... Fresh made sandwiches and pre made soups. They are most famous for their clam chowder. The deal: be sure to check out the daily special, Which is always the best deal in the house, and sometimes the best deal in the food court!

This place is permanently CLOSED as of a week ago. Talked to the security in the mall and this entire food court is under construction indefinitely.

Delicious. Real. Mmm. I got a tiny bowl, but I seriously wanted more...even though I was already full from my previous meal. I should have saved more room for this delicious soup. The potatoes weren't mushy, but good chunky. The clams were fresh, but wasn't overwhelmingly "ocean taste". Perfect.

So I was visiting a friend before we went out to the cold 19 degree brisk ( understatement) winter night in Boston. I was hungry beyond belief and my friend was staying at the Sheraton near a sort of mall that was connected ( so lucky). Who can just roll out of bed and say hey I feel like going to the mall today and walk only a few inches away and be there... but I digress. I came here after seeing the reviews from other local yelpers and I have to say it was pretty good for the notorious 'mall' food. It was hearty like I like it with lots of clams and potatoes. I also really liked the oyster crackers they had to go with it. If I had to compare it to the more ritzyer chowder I had while in Boston this was definitely up there. Who would've thought?!

  • Kayae K.

This place is a must! I recommend the lobster roll (Stuffed lobster in bread)! I'm so glad I got to try this place out!

We jumped off the Duck tour and straight into the Prudential Center food court. I know what you're thinking, Mall Food. Nope. Not everyone in our party could eat the seafood but had plenty of other quality choices. The Staff was friendly, fast and efficient and the food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. Definitely will visit again when we return to Boston.

Stopped here for lunch and ordered half a turkey wrap and the clam chowder. I thought that the chowder (chowda?) was sooo good, it's perfect for warming my soul. The turkey wrap was honestly nothing special, but I liked the soup so much that I got just that for lunch again the next day. Would love to find something similar in LA. Really friendly staff and quick service!

I missed out on Boston Chowda at Quincy Market, but did spot this one at the Pru food court. The daily special was a grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of soup. It wasn't the fanciest grownup grilled cheese panini I'd ever eaten but it did satisfy. Plus, I got my fix of Boston New England style clam chowder (chowdah) -- checked that off the list of "Boston" foods to try (lobster roll, oysters, cream pie, brick-oven pizza, baked beans, etc.) as a typical tourist. Not totally filling but that's what Ben and Jerry's is for.

Going downhill. This place was great for a while, but recently they have been going downhill in service and food. They started to reheat clam chowder and their bread bowls in a microwave. Reheating bread in a microwave makes it all squishy and plain disgusting. Also, when you see an young teenage kid (18-19) working there, AVOID! Whenever he is there, the whole experience becomes literally nauseating. He puts in only half of soup in the bread bowl, and when you ask him to fill it all up (you are paying for a full bowl), he makes this smirky, annoying face that will cause you to lose all appetite.

  • Viki N.

I'm here for a conference for a week, and I've eaten here 3 times already. Each time it is consistently good. The clam chowder is great, with well-cooked fresh clams and potatoes that just smoosh in your mouth. I tried the lobster roll, which is crazy expensive for a sandwich ($18-$21), but it's real lobster so it sort of makes sense. The lobster filling is deeeelicious, but I could live without the bread. I've heard great things about the Mac 'n cheese but they were out when I was last there, so, heartbreak! But I will try again!

  • Sam S.

Plenty of lobster meat loaded on a thick buttery bun and the lobster bisque was quite good as well, especially by typical food court standards.

  • Holly T.

It's tough to say which is better - the food or the employees. Lobster roll is to die for - pure chunks of lobster, no celery, thankfully. Lobster bisque is amazing - always thick and creamy - far better than Legal Seafood's. Same goes for the chowda. This place is *busy*, but you are always greeted with a smile and everyone works together to make sure the customers are moved through quickly and get what they need. Excellence right across the board!

I've been at an adjacent hotel to the Shops at Prudential for 6 days and this is the 3rd time I've eaten here. Had to come back today for one more lobster roll. On my 2nd visit I had the lobster mac n cheese. Both items are great. The buttery roll is a very flavorful roll, with a hint of sweetness.

Two stars..although the was about 4 stars food was pleasing enough. Though the staff was not, I almost did not take the food..I felt very unhappy about my interaction with my server. I came to the counter and the staff did not acknowledge me. I had to ask where to order. There was no eye contact and I was asked very coarsely "What do you want" ...The gentleman after received a greeting and a polite how may I help you. Now I could make this a race issue or simply a common customer service issue. But either way very unacceptable.

This was the first place i tried in boston for the lobster roll. My bf and I ordered the lobster roll , clam chowder and lobster bisque. the clam chowder was delicious and creamy and the lobster bisque was good as well but I had better. Next was the lobster roll, I ordered it in a jumbo size which was kind of a normal size for me but filling. there was plenty of crabmeat mixed with a good amount of mayo. My most favorite about the lobster roll was the bread, it was the most delicious bread i have ever eaten in a lobster roll and i was just disappointed at each lobster roll joint that didnt have this bread. it gave the roll an extra bam to the flavor. overall i would def eat here, one of the better food chains.

I love this place!!! the clam chowder and chilli are really good but the best is the lobster roll I tried different places and I always come back to this place. Really good lobster and good price in comparison to others on the area. :)))

Great place to stop for a quick lunch. The Lobster roll is definitley worth the trip, however it's the CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES that keep bringing me back. I work in the mall and 2-3 times a week I walk past Paradise and their cookies, and Ben & Jerry's and their ice cream, and make my way to Boston Chowda for the cookies. Made fresh daily they taste good at any time, especially if you pop them in the microwave for 10 seconds. Another bonus is the staff is really friendly and always greets me with a smile. Love this place.

  • whit e.

Lobster roll had mediocre sauce that detracted from the lobster, with iceberg lettuce. Oh, lobster, I'm so sorry you had to lose yourself for this. The clam chowder was ordinary. The service was lightning fast and the place is in a food court mall and involves quite a walk lacking all charm.

  • Adeline J.

Had to get clam chowder and lobster on my trip to Boston, and was recommended by a Boston native to come here! I thought to "combine" the two and got a lobster bisque, but I wish I had just gotten either the original clam chowder or a lobster roll. My friends got these and I was able to try them (and fall in love), but my thoughts on the lobster bisque... meh. It was just a little too heavy for me. I'm not sure if it's because it's my first experience with heavier East Coast soups or the seafood here, but it took a while for me to feel normal again after eating. Not that I got sick, it was just a bit rich. However, the soup was still pretty good and a perfect accompaniment to a cold, rainy day in Boston. I would definitely come again- but I'd get the chowder or lobster roll (or BOTH) instead.

Best Lobster Roll and bisque! Every trip to Boston requires a trip to Boston Chowder at the Prudential Center Food Court. You might be tempted to have your Lobster Roll at the Quincey Market location but I highly recommend heading to this location. They take a little extra care and it really shows. I love the toasted roll and the customer service. It makes all the difference.

The chowder is delicious. Had the lobster roll and clam chowder combo. A little surprising to find a place this good in a mall. Go here for the clam chowder and you won't be disappointed

This was my second visit. The chowder is fine, not too thick and not too thin. A bit heavy on potatoes, but good flavor. Today's service was a horror however. No name tag on the young man working, but he clearly had a very negative attitude towards customers. Based on his rude behavior to me and the couple behind me, I will spend my money elsewhere. As an example, the very nice young couple asked for a bag for their purchase. With a smirk, the kid made a big display of slamming things around and slapped a tiny piece of tinfoil on the plate and almost threw it to the customer with a nasty sneer... Similar to my own experience. Very disappointing and why should I go back? I won't. Btw, to this kid's boss: it was the kid working at about 6:40 pm on May 5, 2015. Not an asset to the company. Maybe some training on customer SERVICE?

Our company offices are in the Prudential Center, and this is the ONLY place I go for lunch when I come to Boston. The lobster roll is amazingly delicious and affordable - I eat one every day :-) The clam chowder is piping hot and scrumptious and the chocolate-chips cookies are the clincher. The service here is fast and super-friendly, the staff always seems to be in great humor. Are you near the Prudential Center now? Then why aren't you at the Boston Chowda Company?!?

  • Pearl J.

The New England Clam Chowda is the best clam chowder I've ever had so far. The Lobster Roll are also worth the trip! Their food is a must try if you're in Boston.

Eaten here 2-3 times now. Grilled cheese is FANTASTIC. Soup is good.

    (4)
  • Max R.

For a food court, this place is a very pleasant surprise. I've only had the lobster roll combo (3X now), and would recommend it. It's a good amount of lobster (although with just a little too much mayo for my taste) on a surprisingly good warm buttered roll. The lobster bisque is alright, but could use actual lobster chunks in it. The clam chowder is alright too. For about $18 you get a roll, soup and small drink any time of the day, which for Boston is a solid deal.

Princess and I like trying out the lobster rolls from different restaurants all over the city. We stayed at the Westin Copley this past visit, and the Boston Chowda Co located in the mall food court was both inviting and convenient. Of all the fast food stands, this one was beckoning for us to try it. The order: Jumbo Lobster Roll - this was what we came for and it delivered. This was served on a sweet roll rather than white bread or white bread toast as found at other establishments. Good consistency with the lobster meat and the mayonnaise made this a 4.5 star meal. Princess ordered a Lobster Bisque - delicious - she downed the whole bowl. Either she was hungry or it was Princess approved. The Jerry - New England Clam Chowder - also delicious. Both are served with oyster crackers. Definitely will be back for some more.

not the best clam chowda in Boston, but it is convenient and tasty. Always get the special of lobster roll and clam chowda. Not as busy as the one in Quincy, but taste the same.

  • Brett B.

For a mall spot this is excellent - have had better Chowdah but this is really good and they combine with sandwiches for specials each day. Good for those looking to fill their tummy on a budget. Get the mall coupon book somewhere if you can - you might save an extra buck.

During my recent visit to Boston, I visited here several times with my companions. I tried the lobster roll special with chowder which I really liked, but thought that it was a bit expensive for how big the roll was. There was plenty of lobster in the roll though and the roll itself was sort of buttery and quite delicious, and stood up well to the lobster filling. The soups were my favorite part about this place and what kept me coming back. The chowder was really good, and the lobster bisque was also to die for. I wasn't overly impressed with the cornbread but the price is right and it helped to round out my soup. All in all, a great place for lunch or an early dinner, even in the food court!

    (4)
  • Gene L.

For the value, this is the best clam chowder. I don't think the expensive places taste significantly better to warrant the price difference. This is my go to place to take visitors to try the clam chowder.

  • Victoria P.

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch and I ordered the grilled cheese special with the clam chowda and he got the large lobster roll special with the corn chowda. The grilled cheese was really good...completely packed with cheese. The clam chowda was delicious - thick and hearty. My boyfriend though the lobster roll was just okay and the corn chowda was good, but I'll probably stick with the clam chowda. We both agreed that the bread on the grilled cheese and the lobster roll was too buttery, but overall it was a satisfying meal.

Clam chowder is my favorite, so I have come to the conclusion that Boston is the perfect place for me to live. I don't know if I could go more than a few weeks with out my fix of thick, rich clammy Boston Clam "Chowda". This is one of the fav places to go when I am on the hunt for a good bowl. I was thrown a big curve ball the other day when I met my friend for lunch here the other day. Know, when I say thrown, I mean it in a good way. Now I have quite a predicament that I am not sure how to remedy. You see, what happened was this: I orded my usual, beloved chowder and she ordered the Lobster Bisque. Now I have to say I am a fan of a good bisque every now and then, but I had just never tried it here because I like to stick to what I know will be good so I wont be disappointed. Now her bisque looked especially good and when she saw me eyeballing her luch she offered to let me try it. I normally would decline this type of offer out of and uncomfortable spoon situation with a friend, the manners issues etc. But when I tell you it looked good, I mean it looked and smelled wonderful. I caved. I tried it...... And it was WONDRFUL! Now, I have a problem. What do I do next time I go here? Do I order my old standby that satisfies every time or do I go with the new, exciting lobster bisque? AAAHHHHH! I say this all in fun, as I realize this is not a REAL problem just to emphasize the greatness of both items I needed to get this out. I am sure it will all work out ok!

Heard from a friend that I absolutely had to come and try the Lobster roll and chowder combo. For $20 for a small lobster roll and a medium clam chowder, I don't think it was worth it. The lobster roll was just meh. The bread roll was cold and bland. And the lobster had a lot more mayo than I was accustomed to. The clam chowder on the other hand was pretty good. I would go back for seconds if it wasn't like $7 for a tiny cup of it. Quincy Market has an abundance of cuisines, I'd recommend checking other places out instead.

  • Ben H.

I work in the Prudential building and I normally hate mall food court food, but this place is alright. I usually get the chicken pesto melt whenever I don't bring my own lunch. At $6.41 with tax, it's definitely the best bang for your buck. Minus one star because I see them microwave the sandwich in saran wrap sometimes.

If you only are in Boston for the weekend, you must do the following: A) Try a local brew or two, or three...and maybe some pub fare B) Visit the north end for some delicious Italian pastries C) Boston Chowda Co. D) All of the above If you picked C, you wouldn't be wrong. Perfect snack when it's 5 degrees F outside! This is some of the best chowda I've had, although their bread is only okay. Boudin Bread in San Francisco makes a mean version of chowda with their infamous sourdough. Lots of clam chunks, and it comes in a variety of sizes and price points. This location is in the Prudential Center, which means plenty of seating as it is a food court. And yes, by the time you get to the front of the line, you'll say "chowda" instead of "chowder."

Stopped in for the first time since our offices moved across from thr Pru. Overall, the meal was good for the price. Had a cup of clam chowda and a lobster roll. Not the best in town, but fair for the price. The chowder was a little watered down with just a few clams and potatoes. I may have gotten a bad scoop. The lobster roll was okay. The actualy bread was delicious, but the meat didn't taste 100% fresh (maybe frozen). Not a great deal of mayo which is what I prefer, but it could have used a little more seasoning (salt, pepper, etc). Overall, I think I will be back. Good value overall - $17 for a rather large lobster roll and a cup of chowder.

Boston Chowda is located in the Food Court at the Prudential Center... Had a delicious cup of their Boston Clam Chowder. Tasty, clams were tender, overall yumminess! They also have a lot of other delicious looking fare: Chili, other soups and chowders, quiche, pot pies, sandwiches, and more! Can't wait to try the other soups and the Pot Pies!

That lobster roll was amazing. And I had a lobster and corn chowder that I think I slurped in a matter of seconds! Really good food and not bad of a wait. But the food court during lunch time is a bit hectic and it can be hard to find seating. The staff was incredibly friendly and fast.

The soups here are 2nd to none, and I really like the guys that work here too, but sometimes I didn't feel terribly special/appreciated as a customer despite eating here at least twice a week for years. They're food is so good I honestly couldn't care less if I had to go to a bad neighborhood for this place - absolutely fabulous!!

yes it's in a busy food court (that's the downside) however GREAT lobster roll and GREAT chowder!

Yes, Boston Chowda Co. is in a mall food court, and it uses an irritating misspelling in its name. But I forgive it, because I think this is the best New England clam chowder in Boston. The chowder is thick, creamy, and loaded with clams, just the way I like it. The sandwiches here are basic but good--I like getting a half roasted turkey sandwich to accompany my chowder for a complete lunch. The pot pies also look tasty, but perhaps a bit excessive alongside chowder, and the only reason I'm coming here is to get that delicious chowder. Lately I've started bringing my chowder home from here to eat. That lets me put fresh cracked pepper on it, as opposed to the crappy food court pepper packets that have minimal taste. My only other major complaint about this place is I think it's a bit expensive for food court fare. Yet, I find myself coming back anyway because the chowder can't be beat.

I have simple food tastes. Especially when on a trip. I am traveling right now and on the company budget, but that doesn't mean I eat extravagantly. I just want good food at a good price (that my accountants back at the office won't complain about). I learned of Boston Chowda in the food court of the Prudential Center (across the street from my hotel) on the 'Net and decided to give them a try. After navigating the cavernous Prud and finding the restaurant, I had to make a quick decision. Would it be the corn chowder (which looked delicious --thick and tasty) or the clam chowder. Well, with this being my first time in Boston I went with clam chowder with a sandwich (shrimp salad on a roll). I wasn't disappointed. The chowder was smooth, filled with clams and other seafood (I think I tasted a scallop and some other fish) with potatoes and other veggies. Now, that said, I wouldn't know a GOOD clam chowder from a bad one, but I liked it, and it wasn't too salty (always my fear with mall food). The shrimp salad sandwich was also very good with a LOT of medium sized shrimp on a very hot and soft roll with a strip of lettuce. It was nicely seasoned, but had a touch too much mayo, but good nevertheless. Overall, I am rating Boston Chowda a 4. It's mall food, but it is done very well.

I got some hell from Boston Yelpers on the talk threads for adding Boston Chowda Co to my itinerary, and for good reason. I mean, c'mon, it's part of a mall food court. I get it. It's not fine dining; however, for food court food, I really liked it. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and clam chowder. Both were delicious, and a huge step up from nearby food court offerings like Panda Express or Sarku which are at every other mall in America. My chowder was actually the best bowl of chowder I had in Boston. That either means I went to the wrong restaurants, or BCC makes some pretty decent chowda.

I gave this place another chance recently, and had an AMAZING roast beef sandwich. It was one of their many specials that day. The only thing is that it had too much horseradish mayo, which dripped all over the place. The quality of the roast beef was really good, and there was a lot of it on this sandwich. It also came with cheddar, lettuce and tomato, on french bread. I will seek this sandwich out again!

This place has awesome chili and sandwiches and I find myself going a few times a week since working at the Pru. The staff is always very friendly and takes great care of their customers. Plus they are quick!

Not bad... Not great... Okay price... It's in a food court, but feels like they deliver higher quality food than I would normally expect in a food court. Not bad at all.

The lobster bisque was good stuff. Just as good as some I've had at very nice restaurants. Prices are also very reasonable. Can't wait to go back to Boston for more!

Back in the food court for day 2 of my visit, and man is it convenient to be in a hotel immediately across from the Prudential Center. Hey, look, they have a fast food place here with Boston in the title! I can get local flavor and still have a quick, cheap meal! Win win! And by and large, it was. The clam chowder was good, and while I didn't have the highest expectations, they were raised a bit by the title of the restaurant. It was creamy and delicious. I also had a half sandwich, prosciutto, which was decent. Others with me also enjoyed their food, and especially enjoyed the price. There was a decent line, but it moved pretty quickly. I'd go back if only because I'm sad I didn't try the lobster rolls, which other Yelpers have raved about in their reviews. In my experience, the little add ons and the end of these food line places are usually bad, but the cookie I grabbed on impulse for a treat was horrifically bad. It made Chips Ahoy seem warm, gooey, and fresh baked. Seriously bad, this may have been the only cookie in my life I ever left half eaten. So, come for the chowder, feel free to have lobster rolls or sandwiches, and stay far, far away from their shrinkwrapped desserts. I know, no-brainer, right?

Got a daily special combo: small clam chowder and big large lobster roll for $17. Sweet deal, right? Clam chowder was awesome, tasty in a word: perfect. The lobster roll was good also was a little bit disappointed as I started with the clam chowder so I had a big expectation when I start eating my roll. Still good but would have expected a better sauce (don't feel that much the mayonnaise). Overall, given the price, very good experience.

I've been coming here on and off since the first day it opened. This is my favorite chowda spot as an adolescent. Back then, I actually thought this topped Legal's chowda. Of course, Legal's chowda recipe has improved over the years. Regardless, I am still a fan of the clam chowda here. I promise I wont buy a bag of it anymore. A small cup is suffice since I have noone to share this with anymore. It's the chunkiness and the thickness/creaminess that gets me addicted. This place deserves more than just being in the "food court" category.

This is a good place to go for some quick chowda (A trip to Boston isn't a trip to Boston until you have some Chowda, right?). I went to the one in the Pru, and would go back for lunch. I'll still my description from my days working at Chick-fil-a: it's quick service (as opposed to fast food).

Who knew we could get such good food at a food court? After reading other people's Yelp reviews, my mom and I deliberately went to the Boston Chowda Co to try the clam chowder. Not being from New England, nor having a craving for clam chowder, we thought it was creamy and delicious. The rest of the items on the menu looked good. They had a good deal of a grilled cheese with clam chowder. I was expecting more ooey, gooey cheese, but it was thin with cheese. The service was friendly and fast. The food court seating was spacious and clean. Good stop for a quick lunch.

Boston Chowda! How I love you for a quick lunch when I am in Boston! They deliver every time. No questions asked! After shopping for a little bit in the morning we has been hungry for some lunch...So we happen to be in the area and this place is the first to pop into my head! So why did this pop up into my head? Its easy! Its simple, cheap and GREAT customer service! I enjoy a place that has all 3 and its not easy to find these days! The customer service is AWESOME! Plus its key for a fast food type of place. They always have their line moving fast! Even when they are moving fast their service is still there! Top notch in my book. They are able to get you what you need quickly and still have time to joke around with you! Even this past weekend they had been busy as hell! It was still easy to hop in line and order what we needed. They even tossed in a few jokes to make us smile! We where in and out of here within 10 minutes. That was with a HUGE LINE too. The food is great. We always get the same thing when we come here. Bread bowl with chili and corn bread! Its so big the girlfriend and I share one the chili. Its very filling and it just taste great! Hits the spot without an issue. The corn bread is soft, sweet and taste very southern. Just the way we like it! The prices here are also more than fair. We ended up spending around $15.00 for the bread bowl of chili, 2 pieces of corn bread and 2 medium sodas! So its a good deal. Also keeps your eyes peeled! They do offer combo meals and such too if your by your self. Like a cup of chili and corn bread with a soda for around $5.00 and so on... So there you have it folks. This is why I love this location. Anytime I come down for the weekend from Vermont I try and make a point to stop in here for lunch! Go get your Chowda on! Perfect 5/5 all around! Service and all! I highly recommend this place for a quick bite to eat.

Boston Chowda is like Maryland Crab Cakes. I followed a friend to Boston Chowda in the Prudential Food Court. Since he was a native Bostonian I figured that I would just follow the natives. I had a combo with a large lobster roll and a cup of Boston Chowda. As I would expect the price was not like Sbarro or Cafe Panda. However, it was wonderful. The Chowda was great. The lobster roll was not the best but was outstanding nonetheless. Now I all I need is for the stores to carry some Hoya SWAG! I loved seeing my SUNY Optometry family this week!!!

The best chowder that I have had in a long time. I have not tried anything else on the menu, and I don't care, I am getting chowda everytime I go there. Even if everything else was crap (which I am not saying it is), I would still give this place 5 stars because the chowda is so good. The chowda is rich, hearty, and with the right amount of salt, just the way I like it. They have many different sizes to accomodate any budget. You have not tried chowda until you have been to this place. Legal Seafoods is near here. Forgot Legal Seafoods and go straight to Boston Chowda company. I am going back sometime soon to get the large. Hope to see you there.

How do I love thee Chowda? Let me count the ways I love thy delicate clams so visible to the eye. Tender and fresh, this I cannot deny I love thee light creamy flavor so simple yet you do not waver. Your steadfast quality brings me back again. Sweet tastes of Chowda, let me be thy spokesmen. Boston Chowda remains my favorite. I compared it to Legal's chowder on this visit and I still prefer Boston Chowda. The fact that this chowder is lighter yet lusciously flavorful, wins my tastebuds over. Not an elegant eating location, but superb chowder. Man cannot live without an occasional chowder.

I am in Boston for a work conference and attached to my hotel, the Boston Marriott Copley Place, is a large shopping shopping mall. Being from California, I was on a mission for lobster. After passing on Legal Seafood (will eat here tomorrow), I came across the Boston Chowda Company. The Maine Lobster Melt, consisting of lobster and provolone cheese on toaster bread. After pairing this with a small cup of clam chowda, I was set. Pretty good for a small mall site.

I go here 2-3 times a week for lunch. Everything is good. Everytime I bring someone new to this place, they become addicted. While everything is good, if the chicken stew is available, you must get the chicken stew. Picture the rich, gravylicious goodness of chicken pot pie. Now, take the crust off, pour it into a bowl and serve as soup. Amazing.

Dee-li-shus. And no, I didn't get clam chowder, I'm not a fan. I didn't want to leave my 3-day vacation in Boston without trying a lobster roll from somewhere. Just thinking about it makes me salivate even now. I've had lobster rolls in NY and other places before, but none came close to matching this cozy little food court glory. The roll was warm, toasted, lightly buttered; the meat was fresh, cold and pure (I know imitation seafood when I taste it) like they'd ripped it straight from the lobster in the back. And it was huge. Well worth the $12-$14. It was clear they used an entire lobster, the way it's supposed to be, and it couldn't be more delicious. I will never get another lobster roll from Unos or a supermarket again.

I'm sure that it isn't that common to read a review before selecting a food court lunch. I certainly didn't before eating here, which was too bad. I have been craving a Reuben sandwich for ages, so I decided to take a chance. I was a little horrified to realize that they just plucked the already-prepared sandwich from the front case and grilled it, but I thought, hey, how bad can it be? Pretty bad. The cheese was barely melted, the meat soggy and cold, and it just didn't resemble any Reuben sandwich I've ever tasted. On the plus side, this is a fattening sandwich, and I only ended up eating a few bites of it. Their lemonade was good.

  • Dan P.

I just had the WORST prosciutto & mozzarella sandwich of my life: dry, stringy, with limp over-seasoned tomato (at least it was supposed to be tomato). Even the soda was overly-watered down. Ok, so the chowdA (as they say here) was pretty good. The BCC in North Andover is far superior.

  • Scott B.

Okay, this would be a four star review, if I didn't have to dock them one star for the quality of food during off-peak hours... If you go during the lunch/dinner rush, you'll get fresh delicious clam or seafood chowda... go during the lull and you'll get old, spoiled chowda with an inch thick film over the top... i don't know about you, but i'll pass on the ice-skating rink of a chowda pot. The sandwiches and wraps are pretty average, and the service is your typical who-cares high school students and foreigners (that's foreigner NOT to be mistaken with Foreigner, the totally awesome classic rock master minds behind "Cold as Ice.") Convenient, yet you must be choosy.

I was a bit disappointed that they were out of bread bowls and quiche both when I went, but it was around 8:30p or so, so that's understandable. I'm not a chowder connoisseur by any means, but I thought the chowder was a tiny bit runnier than I usually see. I still enjoyed it, though. The chicken pot pie that I had to substitute for the quiche was pretty good. As other reviewers have mentioned, way better seafood than I was expecting to get out of a food court restaurant. If I had wanted top of the line chowder I would have gone somewhere else, but I was in a hotel nearby and just wanted a quick bowl, and this certainly did the job.

Who knew that you could get a decent seafood meal from a place in the food court? I had my first ever lobster roll & and a cup of clam chowder. The lobster roll was very rich (perhaps a bit too liberal use of may), and chocked full of lobster. The roll was tender and not too heavy. Overall, I appreciated the simple flavors. The clam chowder was super rich but not equivalently heavy. I returned two days later and tried the chicken pot pie. It was really big and a bit salty. I wish the crust had been a bit crispier. The seafood chowder was good, and I couldn't really tell the difference between it and the clam chowder I had a few days prior (except for the fish in the seafood chowder). Overall, this place is a great option for a food court meal.

I got the clam chowder in a bread bowl- it was really good. Because my in-laws hate seafood, I knew that I had to jump in and get the clam chowder at any chance I could... Unfortunately, it happened to be 10 minutes before we needed to line up for the duck tour... Consequently, I scarfed it down, and didn't get to fully enjoy the experience and the bread with it. =(. Oh well, it was still delicious, still fast and cheaper than a lot of other places.

I've always loved new england clam chowder and wanted to try this place. Found in the food court of the Prudential, I thought it was a perfect time to try this place while I was there. I really wanted to try the lobster roll with my soup but unfortunately, they didn't have any sandwiches because they didn't have the bread for it? It was around 6pm and I thought it was kind of a bummer that there were no sandwiches available. That in itself costed a star. I was really looking forward in trying their lobster roll. Instead, I got the bread bowl soup (bread bowls were available but not sandwich bread?). I have to say, the new england clam chowder was good. Flavorful and not too creamy nor watery...just the right texture of creaminess. I would pick this clam chowder over legal's any day, any time. It was so good. Satisfied my hunger and crave for new england clam chowder. I'll come back for sure if I have a craving for some new england clam chowder. I still want to try their lobster roll.

figured that since I'm visiting Boston, it was only appropriate that I get my lunch from Boston Chowda while at the Prudential Center Marketplace food court. I suppose I wanted to have a "real New England mall food court experience". It just so happened that this particular week BC is offering a free cup of chowder with purchase of a lobster roll plus drink. Lobster roll and free chowder?! Sign me up. I'd never had a lobster roll before, and I imagine a mall food court isn't the best place to sample this New England delicacy. The Boston Chowda version wasn't bad, though I have no grounds for comparison. I will say it was a nice fresh roll spread with garlicky butter and stuffed with plenty of lobster salad. Not incredible, but as I said...not bad. I was a little bit disappointed in the clam chowder, namely because I feel like if you're going to name your business "Boston Chowda", your chowda really ought to be sensational. BC's version had nice big pieces of clam meat, but potatoes and other ingredients were sparse. The star of my lunch turned out to be the lemonade, which I can only describe as wicked awesome. Perfectly tart and sweet. My bill came to about $15 which I think is kind of pricey for a food court lunch, but then, I can't say I've ever eaten lobster at the mall before.

Pretty good for the foodcourt. The wraps are decent. The lobster bisque is good (way better than at Au Bon Pain). Haven't tried a pot pie yet, but its next on my list. There usually isnt a line when I go here, which is always a plus during the lunch time rush.

are YOU serious??? this is a place for people who rely on "convenience." it is NOT a place for quality or maximizing your dollars. i tried this - along with a string of other restaurants - based on yelp reviews. i was SUPER DISAPPOINTED because it sucked! the lobster roll ($14ish) had a super big, thick and dry roll. the lobster meat was bland...so bad, that i had to ask the kiosk for mayonnaise packets. that didn't even help. the first three bites ALL had shells. i ended up throwing the whole thing away. the clam chowder was thin, lacked flavor, was mostly potatoes and ALSO was not worth the money. if you live under a rock, have NEVER had chowder or lobster, and have $20 in your pocket, skip this place and head to the various bars that have great deals on good food. this place SUCKS!

    (1)
  • H C.

The lobster rolls are still good here - not the best in the world but for a food court and the price you pay, not bad. However, I was really disappointed by the New England clam chowder. It was so runny and mostly potatoes - what?? Better off going to Legal...

The only thing I've had here is the clam chowder, which is fresh, tasty, and chock full of clams. I've been on a clam chowder tasting tour around Boston, and for the price point, Boston Chowda Co's chowder is on par with Legal Seafoods. Avoid the wrapped corn bread by the counter, though, totally stale!

I ate at Boston Chowda Company on Sunday for a light lunch. You just have to love the name of this place. I remember eating here last year for lunch and liking it. I had a tuna salad which was tuna mixed with mayo on top of mixed lettuces with tomato wedges and cucumber slices. I got a balsamic vinaigrette with it that was tasty. I also ordered a lemonade to drink. The salad was very fresh and just as good as you could get at a sit down restaurant. I also enjoyed the lemonade. On Monday some of my friends had the clam chowder and seemed to like it. I say Boston Chowda Company deserves a solid 3.5 stars, but I'm being generous and rounding up to 4.

All we had from here is a bowl of chowder and it was my wife's favorite our of the 4 restaurants we ordered chowder at. It was great to have many food choices at the food court (traveling with a pregnant wife and a 1 year old) and having good quality food as well.

Only had the clam chowder here but I really liked it--I think way better than Legal Seafood in the same mall and much cheaper. It was hot, creamy, full of clams, potatoes, etc. It satisfied my clam chowder cravings and I would go back. I like that it's in the food court that way I don't have to commit to a full meal [like at Legal Seafood]--I can just buy my soup and go!

Visiting from NJ, we had not yet had our fill of lobster rolls. I guess we got spoiled from Belle Island because I could barely eat this one from the Chowda Co. It was really stormy and we were tired and wet from a day of site seeing so we decided to call in an order and pick it up. They wouldnt let us order over the phone. My husband got there with a list of what we wanted. We downloaded the menu from the website. When my husband got there, they were out of bread bowls and just about everything else we wanted except the lobster rolls and soup. We got the lobster bisque and 2 rolls and a chicken ceasar salad. My husband came back with an untoasted roll that was heavily loaded with bad mayo. My husband's salad was inedible. The soup was great, thank God because I was starving and was disappointed with the lobster roll. We paid 9 bucks to park just to pick up the food!!! Outrageous! So sad that our second lobster roll experience in Boston was a bad one. Don't know what all the hype is about at this place!

I got the chicken caesar roll up, and I had 2 bites and I could not eat anymore. The sandwich was soggy and the caesar dressing was disgusting. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else in the food court.
