I went to a lot of Bolocos recently (free!) and I think the staff here are the oddest group--not in a bad way! :) The set up is kind of difficult because a lot of people want to watch their burrito be made (fine) but then there is a backup of people and you can't get out. My friends teriyaki had very little sauce and my mediterranean had A LOT of sauce.

They're just not trying hard enough. Or paying attention. For about the fifth time over a single year I've gone there to get a BASIC burrito. I don't mind having to spell out the ingredients: Chicken, black beans, salsa, cheese, guac, whole wheat. Every single time, one ingredient is left out. I was even asked if I wanted mild or medium salsa. Today's burrito was salsa-free and insanely salty, and there may have been two bites of actual chicken. I was the only person in line, so it's not like they were busy or anything. Must seek burrito fix elsewhere.

EHHHH I really don't like Boloco's menu and their selection of specific wraps. I asked for a recommendation and I chose the Thai one with carnitas on top. It was really strange to be honest. Didn't like it at all. It had too many onions and not enough rice or meat. The meat was alright, small portions. For a regular sized bowl costing me like $7 I couldn't just throw it away LOL.

Awful. Truly awful... I ordered a original Mexican buritto and I recieved a small terryaki buritto and it was awful, I wanted to kill myself. The person who took my order didnt even speak english so that was probably the first problem. Then while I was eating outside a flock of birds started eating our food.... Do not go here. I would have rather eatin a piece of dried fesces my dog produced after eating a bowl of canned dog food. Boloco is the worst food ive ever eaten.

Pro: some of the most affordable dining, and people watching, on overpriced Newbury Street. I *love* feeding the birds as I enjoy my burrito bowl. con: there is no bathroom? the deal: outdoor seating and free WiFi!

Food was good, service was so-so and portions are much smaller than Chipotle. As a student, we are given coupon booklets to popular eateries and Boloco's was one of them. I went with 2 other friends and 2 of us had a coupon for 20% off while the other friend had nothing. Of course, I simply asked if I could tackle on my order with my friend's since they didn't have a coupon and we could just get 20% off together...this seemed to confuse the lady at the cash register for some reason and she kept telling us that coupons only work for one order and we tried to explain that indeed it WOULD BE one order if we just ordered together, like ordering 2 burritos and taking 20% off. Either way, it was a long and complex process and finally a manager had to come over and make it seem like he was doing us a favor by giving us a separate 20% off coupon for my friend so they could buy their meal separately from mine, which was unnecessary. They have a good variety of flavors that are unique, but at a trade off of smaller portions for the same price as their competitors. I would probably just go somewhere else next time for less hassle and more food. However, it is a good place for something quick and easy so I can see why people go here. Personally, there are better options.

Boloco for me is a mixed bag. It has been a staple on Newbury for a long time and I have frequented here many many times over the last 7 years. When I first used to go here I LOVED it, I went here 2-3 times a week for a quick bite. Fast forward 7 years and I could take it or leave it. It could be that I just got sick of it, but I think the main reason I got sick of it was an inconsistency of their products, staffing, and the revamping of their rewards program. Products: They seem to want to source the same quality ingredients without wanting to increase pricing for customers, which is fine, I can understand that. But some times I go there and the food is great, and other times it's like they forgot to add that "special ingredient" and it just tastes bland and generic. I suppose this could be the cook's fault, perhaps a deviation from the recipe, an "off day", etc. But there seem to be too many "off days" lately that it's becoming the norm. Staffing: I understand it's hard to find good help, but the staff need to know English if they are going to be taking orders. I've also found that when you order online you are supposed to be able to skip the line and just grab your order from the pickup counter. Unfortunately you could stand there for days and no one wants to make eye contact with you or ask you if you needed to pick up. So I mentioned this to Boloco in an email and they implemented a "look for the red hat" system to pick up your online order from. Unfortunately the last 2 times I've been there no one was wearing a red hat....back in line for me even though my order was already prepared (a waste of time and basically renders the online system useless). Rewards Program: One of the reasons I used to come here so often was the rewards. "Free burrito day", "Free burrito on your birthday day", "Free burrito when you spend $50 in points", etc. It was great, and I felt it was a great (simple) rewards program with good benefits. Fast forward and they have re-vamped this in their favor. The program is so confusing now, and at the rate that I go there the best reward I've gotten so far was $2.50 off a burrito. Not such a good deal for the consumer anymore, and factoring this in with the increased prices and the inconsistency of the food Boloco has now become my "only if I need to eat in a hurry and it's on my block" kind of a place. PS. The last time I went there my burrito was missing the steak.

DEAR LORD, this is the most unfriendly Boloco I've ever been to. Seriously, I love Boloco. There's one near my house, one near my D&D meet-up spot, one near work... I know where you are, Boloco. I have your app. Your card. Your website. It's one of my favorite places to grab a burrito and the seasonal shakes are awesome. But this place... Never again, Newbury Street. First of all, the girl at the register glowered at me. I mean, full-on, hell-bent rage-glare because she was busy doing something with her nails. I place my order; Mexican burrito with steak, extra guac. She says they can't add extras, but I can put it on myself if I buy it separately. Back up, sister. I know that's not true. I could put together the craziest concoction in the world. I've done it on your company's sweet app. So why can't I just ASK for it? Then she won't take my Boloco card. UM... She says that's only for paying for food, so if there's no money on it, she won't take it. I am holding out my credit card and my Boloco card asking you to give me points for the burrito-and-side-of-guac-you-should-just-put-on-there, plus a shake. It is obvious which of these is the negotiable instrument and which one is for points. GUH. So I don't get my points. Sigh. The burrito was okay, but the guy making the food - right, why are there two women on register and only one guy on the line? - is so gruff, when another customer comes up and asks if they have anything spicy, the employee looks up, stops making my burrito, stares at the guy, shakes his head condescendingly like this is the dumbest customer ever and then goes back to work. I actually felt bad for the other guy and stepped in to show him my wicked-cool-app, which he then downloaded on his iPhone. You're welcome, Boloco. How does Boloco repay my customer loyalty? By giving me the most disgusting shake I have ever tasted. It was like rancid blueberries with sugar dumped on top to mask it, and something the consistency of snot as a binder. On the bright side, the burrito was delicious, but very messy as I had to apply my own guac. NEVER AGAIN, NEWBURY STREET. Copley Square for me from now on. PS - This is also the only dining establishment on Newbury Street with no public bathrooms. What gives?

Out of all the Bolocos that I have visited, I think this is the best one I've had. Boloco isn't the best burrito place by any means, but the Memphis BBQ burrito is my favorite. The size of the burrito and price at Boloco is not justifiable however so that's why I gave the store 3 stars. But this Boloco has given me the right balance of ingredients, especially the sauce because I like the sauce a lot lol. But you shouldn't expect much different from the other Bolocos honestly.

Thinking about dropping Boloco altogether. Their point of sale order taking process forces the order taker to push selling chicken to me every time I go to any of them. I'm a vegetarian. While I easily say no thank you each and every time, the marketing message they are reinforcing is that I am a minority as a vegetarian. Even if that is true, nobody likes to be singled out. Since dining out is about the entire experience, not just the food on my plate, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that I have to reject meat as the default position. Since I can choose to go elsewhere I will start doing so. Here's an idea: simply ask me which fillings I would like instead of asking me if I want chicken.

Boloco gets a solid three stars from me. That means I'm happy enough to pick up a burrito there if I need a quick lunch, but I'm not going to make it a meal destination. The food here is decent. Don't be fooled into thinking you're getting a Mexican-style burrito; these are more like wrap sandwiches that sometimes incorporate the ingredients normally found in a burrito. I like the classic burrito (beans, rice, meat, salsa, cheese) and the Memphis barbecue (beans, rice, meat, coleslaw, bbq sauce). A quick way to eliminate some calories and fat from these items but still have a satisfying meal is to order them in a bowl, no tortilla. The bowl preparation uses really sturdy plastic containers that don't leak, and the quantity of food seems about the same. This location is a level below ground and very small. As a result, it can seem intimidatingly crowded at times. They do a very good job keeping people moving through the small space, and the line usually progresses pretty quickly. I would estimate that if you come in and the last person in line is by the door, it will take you 8-10 minutes to have your food in hand. I would also caution you to plan to take your food to-go. There aren't many seats in here and if you come during lunch, you probably won't find one. If you've got more than three people in your group, forget about it. I felt suspicious of the fact that you give the cashier all of the instructions for your food and not the people making it (the way you do at Anna's, for example), but there's never been a mistake in my order. It's worth getting a free Boloco card at the counter and registering it online. I got a free burrito during my birthday months and you accumulate points when you make purchases that can be swapped for more free food later.

Only came back again since the boylston location is closed due to the marathon bombing. Ordered an ORIGINAL sized classic mexican, it had exactly 6 piece of steak in it (size of a penny each?), and a coffee spoonful of salsa, half a coffee spoonful of guac. Honestly the staff are all new but they should all be fired.. The boylston location with spanish speaking staff do a much better job EVERY SINGLE TIME!

I do enjoy these burritos, mostly because the joint is run differently than the burrito shops in my hometown and I like the fresh taste on things. Giving the place a more serious review, service is consistently friendly (I've been here 3 times in the span of a year) and the food has been consistently filling and enjoyable. They let you modify your order and make last minute changes, which I appreciate. It's good lunch place or also a good place to get take out and eat at the hotel after a long day.

Working on Newbury St, finding a both good and affordable meal for lunch isn't always the easiest thing to do. Boloco solves this problem for me; it has a delicious menu that's easy to remember so I can know what I want upon entering the door, and my burrito (which I customize in a whole bunch of weird ways) is always ready to go for me in no time. I highly recommend the Mediterranean. The only reason this place lost a star is because for some reason at this location, my tortilla chips have been stale a couple times.

Great original burritos combinations, organic ingrediants, and tons of local flavor. Anytime there's a Boloco around...I'm likely to stop by. This was the store that opened me up to the chain. Tons of options for ingredients/topppings.

Dollar for dollar one of the better lunches in Boston. Hopped in here one day for lunch. This place is awesome! You can order via mobile devices or at a couple of kiosks inside. This is good for 2 reasons: 1. You don't have to interact with anyone if you don't want to (woohoo introverts!) 2. There are only about a million variations on everything you can order, so rather than have to have someone successfully hear and type in the answers to so many questions you can be sure your order is accurate by putting it in yourself. That being said, we had the tikka masala and bangkok thai burritos with tofu and they were excellent. There are tons of vegetarian/vegan options and you can control your portion size quite well. I've only been to this location, and only once, and I purposefully managed my trip in a way that I would not have to interact with a human other than to say "yes" when my number was called. But my experience was quick and painless and I left with a fairly healthy lunch that was made with a lot of organic/sustainable/local/etc stuff and wasn't expensive. In summary, I like this place because you can completely remove the human element and get exactly what you want without relying on a person to be in the mood to deal with your wacky order. They are quick, they are cheap, and they can meet some stringent dietary requirements and preferences. Most everything on the menu can be had wrapped up so you can eat it on the way back to the office, and they offer a variety of different cuisines. I can't speak to them being stingy on guac or steak or whatever, but you gotta remember this is a $7 burrito, and most of their ingredients fall towards the expensive end of things. You aren't getting a pound of steak in there.

Food taste good and the service was welcoming especially after that fiasco at Patisserie's where I couldn't order a turkey sandwich on a croissant. Just wanted to grab a quick but satisfying bite to eat and Boloco came through! The mini portion sizes made the choice all that better and the Jimmy Carter shake is delicious!

"You've made a powerful enemy this day, Boloco!" -Things I yelled at work today. I've been having issues with Boloco messing my order up on most of my visits, but I was having a craving for a bowl and, well, the heart wants what it wants. I return to work from my rainy trek to Boloco and anxiously pull out my chips, guac and Spicy BLT bowl. As soon as I had a chip, I discovered things had gone terribly wrong with my lunch. The chips were so stale and so salty, they were totally inedible. And don't get me wrong - I like a salty chip! But they were that weird staleness when they're so crunchy you think you're going to lose a tooth. While I mournfully throw my chips in the trash, I'm hopeful for my Spicy BLT bowl that I pimped out with some grilled chicken! That excitement lasted for about 11 seconds; the time it took me to open my bowl and find nothing but lettuce, a few slices of tomato and two strips (Yes. Strips.) of bacon. It actually takes me a while to realize this was actually supposed to be my bowl and it was missing the chicken, rice, and cheese. I mean, come on. Usually my order is just missing one ingredient, but half the ingredients? It didn't raise any red flags that my Spicy BLT bowl was a handful of lettuce and 2 strips of bacon? I just spent $14 on a side of guac and a small bowl of lettuce? You're better than this, Boloco!

What's not to like about Boloco? Not really your classic burrito place. More like a variety of different meals wrapped in in a tortilla, but that doesn't make it any less delicious. Also don't be fooled, a small burrito (the medium size) is usually filling enough for me. The small is akin to a regular sized at most other burrito places, and the original a large. My favorites probably go: cajun, buffalo, teriyaki, then bbq. The Tikka masala isn't bad, but it's a little bit on the bland side. The actual place is pretty small inside, but there are usually tables available since most people that come to this location seem to take theirs to go. A lot of reviews seem to criticize the staff, but when I was a regular I always experienced great service.

I like Boloco, but if you don't have a restroom for customers, that is being a horrible restaurant. Plus their soy berry smoothie sucked. I like the one on school street better.

I've been here a number of times when I needed something quick in a pinch and Boloco has always been good to me. Not quite gourmet, but not quite average. Last time I went, my dad had to stand on Newbury Street for over an hour waiting for my newphews to be done doing something and he was starving and asked me to find him a Chicken Caesar Wrap. DeLuca's laughed at me at the thought of creating something off the menu (chicken, lettuce, dressing? oh hell no.), so I tried Boloco. When I brought it to my dad he looked at me like I was crazy. A chicken caesar wrap from a burrito place? He almost didn't even give it a chance. One bite though and I could tell he was impressed. He housed the sandwich and went on and on saying it was one of his favorites ever. Now I don't mean to say my dad is a tyrant, he just likes what he likes and it's never out of the box. So yeah. Boloco is always good in my book.

Ordered a classic Mexican burrito with carnitas. It came as a poorly wrapped mess lacking flavor. Dining parter ordered a buffalo bowl and it was heavily drenched in blue cheese dressing and extremely salty.

I prefer this Boloco to the one on Huntington Ave. The service seems a bit quicker, plus its better for people watching. The burritos are always well done here and they talk to you while ordering and making it. Love that. I also like the artwork on the walls and the outdoor seating. For Newbury St, this is my place to escape and not pay an arm and a leg for a quick meal. This was actually the first place I stopped to eat when I came to Boston. Keeps you full and happy!

If your looking for an overpriced burrito on par with the quality of a gas station that will fall apart at first touch and send you to the bathroom every half hour then this is the place.

Does anyone ever actually order the "mini?" It really is disturbingly small..Anyways, I just wanted to put my two cents on here. I'm slowly buying into the "healthy fast food" craze that seems to be sweeping this town. Is healthy fast food an oxymoron? Boloco is making a pretty good case for an emphatic no. I highly recommend the bangkok thai burrito with tofu!

First timer and it was good! The service could have been more friendly but what the heck, I'm in Boston so no biggy. I ordered the buffalo chicken burrito, the chicken was fresh and tasty. It was not all that spicy, and they could have turned the heat up a bit more on the sandwich...other than that - good stuff. Give it a go!

Henry P and Chris A are 100 percent correct. This place is the worst of the lot of BOLOCO's and I am a fan of them, just not this location. The people are rude compared to other BOLOCO's, the food is not as good as other BOLOCO's and the thing that really pissed me the hell off was the eggnog shake I spent $5 plus dollars on for the large one, was about an inch and 1/2 lower from the rim than the Jimmy Carter shake I had previously in the day from the Boylston Street location! I don't mind paying for the products I order but don't give me a lousy attitude and cut short my shake!

So thankful this place is close by! I love burritos...and I love the fact that I don't have to feel like a complete pig at Boloco! They have some really small sized burritos for days when you just want a taste, but dont want to blow up like a balloon. I love their smallest ceasar wrap... delicious. The staff seem nice too!

There was a time I would have given this one a 5 star review, but it seems to have gone own hill a bit. The food preparers seem to take their time now. I will sometimes be understaffed and they get busy an can't handle the load. The food is always good, but th service isn't always the best.

I don't consider myself to be a culinary purist by any means, but I do think that fusion food should only be attempted, and certainly mass-produced (bad MA pun!), by the experts, which I don't think these establishments contain - I'm sure their original burrito is quite good, but I felt the coleslaw in my BBQ choice to be an unfortunate adulteration.

    (2)
  • Justin O.

This place has decent burritos and for a pretty dare price. At the time when I ordered I was starving and close to midway through I was getting pretty full. They have a wide range of choices, one for every type of burrito and food lover in general.

  • Emily G.

Yummy burrito with fresh ingredients! I like their buy local and composting practices, but it always seems like pandering when it's written all over everything. Yet somehow the directions for what to compost were not entirely clear and I ended up throwing more in there than I should have. I agree with a previous poster on how ridiculous the mini size is. Why come all the way to a place like this only to get the equivalent of a few carrot sticks and pieces of broccoli? I'll tell you why - to pander to the health-conscious and seem like they're doing something great for obesity in America. In what scenario would you order that size? "Oh, I got dragged to this burrito place and I wasn't at all hungry, but I still decided to get this tiny burrito." How's that make sense? Overall though, the food is solidly good and satisfied my hunger.

OMG! I really do not know if it's just me or if its this certain location, I've tried a burrito from another Boloco location nearby and the food there was fantastic! - Tasty - Filling - Left me satisfied But then I came back here... The other day while shopping on Newbury St. I realized I had not eaten lunch yet, While trying to figure out where I wanted to go, I decided to why not give the Boloco on Newbury another shot. It was pretty packed for the holiday weekend but service was still pretty quick, Ordered the Carnita burrito with mango salsa to go. I sat down near a nice bench outside and enjoyed my lunch on the bright sunny day. At least that was my plan, the burrito that I had received wasn't that tasty, all the ingredients mixed together just made everything taste very bland, Also not to mention really messy! All the juices from the burrito were leaking/dripping from out of the tin foil and onto my pants. I guess I should of learned by now from past experience. But still, not wanting to waste money, I ate the whole thing and thought nothing of it. I wish I hadn't, the following day I woke up at 6am in the morning with HORRIBLE stomach pain, I had to relieve myself multiple times over the next few hours, it was unbearable! I tried to think of what I ate and it occurred to me that the last meal I ate was the burrito. After a bottle of Pepto Bismal I was feeling SLIGHTLY better but goodness gracious! I'm not sure what it is, I've tried various other Boloco chains and I just don't understand it, the one in the Back Bay and the ones in the Financial District were phenomenal! I just don't understand why I always seem to have a problem with this particular location. From now on if ever I'm craving a burrito, I'll stay clear of this location and head for the one in Back Bay

Pretty good American style burritos, not as good as Anna's or Boca Grande in my opinion. I would go with steak. The mini ones are cute but just not enough of the good stuff. Make sure you know that these burritos are not good for you - they are akin to a Big Mac combo meal

    (3)
  • Junior S.

The classic Mexican burrito is just okay, but the buffalo and Memphis BBQ are both very tasty. Get a rewards card and you'll get a free burrito for every $50 you spend. Just be prepared when you're throwing your trash away to spend 5 minutes looking like an open-mouthed fool as you figure out which items go where (does this cup go in compost or recycle? what about this napkin?).

Happened to be walking on Newbury Street and spotted Boloco. I had heard of it, but had never tried it before. Well, today was the day and the Vegetable Fajita burrito was perfect. I saw that they had mango salsa and made sure to add some to my masterpiece. It was delicious! Ordered a "Cookie Monster" smoothie for my daughter, and, even though I'm not a big smoothie fan, I tried it and it, too, was delicious.

Boloco is growing like a weed with new locations popping up all over Boston. I work closest to this one on Newbury and since the only other burrito option is Qdoba in the Pru, the guys from work tend to run over here quite a bit. Boloco is okay. The variety in the burritos (or more appropriately burrito inspired wraps or as they call them "inspired burritos") is helpful in keeping you from getting too bored if you go once or twice a week and the portion control thing is nice, tough the lack of a meganormous burrito in true foil-wrapped burrito style is disappointing. (It's still $6.25 for their "original" which is like maybe half to 2/3 of a standard chipotle burrito) All that said, there's either too much of a health focus or they just miss. The rice is kind of eh and the burritos are always more filler focused than protein. Hmm.. maybe it's not health conscious and just stinginess...

  • Alex G.

I love this place! Very good for lunch, not too expensive compared to some of the other places in the area. The food is good, you can pretty much customize your own burrito. The portions are decent size, I usually get pretty full with small burrito. Its also relatively healthy if you get it in a bowl instead of the tortilla. They also have a lot of tables outside , right on Newbury st. So if the weather is nice, I definately like to take advantage of that.

I can't say whether burritos are healthy, but portion control certainly is. Introducing the Mini Summer Burrito. At 350 calories it'll fill you up and fulfill your craving for something sweet and savory at once. Downsizing from "small" to "mini" will save you 230 calories AND a few dollars. Not bad.

A staple of my diet now. Quick, healthy, and a nifty feature is that all of their cups, containers, and utensils are biodegradable. Tangential story: two years ago I ate at a UC Berkeley dining hall while visiting a friend in California. The utensils and plates were, like at Boloco, biodegradable. I bit off part of my fork and my knife snapped (while cutting scrambled eggs!!!). Anyway, nothing of the sort at Boloco -- solid, and the Newbury St. location is really convenient for me. To me, Boloco is to Chipotle as In-n-out burger is to Five Guys -- the healthier, leaner, and tastier version that doesn't just slop on a bunch of greasy, salty food.

Loooooves me some Boloco. :) I've made it a mission to try their whole menu, and I've only made it about halfway through, but I'm NEVER disappointed. My new favorite is the Summer Burrito because of the sweet mango salsa. (But I've also loved the Classic, the Mediterranean, the BBQ, and the Buffalo). For vegetarians: the organic tofu here is pretty all right, so you can dig in too! My best tips for this place are: get the carnitas (pork is seriously underrated, and it's well marinated with a good texture here), and throw on some hot sauce. The chipotle Tabasco is good on all of their burritos, but if it's not out (sometimes it's not), use the regular. Without it, the burritos don't have much of their own kick. Now, you might say, Shelly dearest, why have you only made it halfway through? The menu isn't THAT big. Well, it's expensive. At Anna's you get twice the food for what you pay at Boloco (of course Anna's isn't nearly as good). I do also have a tendency to get a sharp pain in my stomach for an hour or so after having Boloco burrito. Probably all the grease. (Yes, the meat can be a little "juicy".) But, it's pretty worth it, when I've got a couple of bucks to spend...

By far, one of the nice Boloco's around; it should be what they probably pay in rent for this Newbury Street location. On the sunny side of the street in the afternoon, Boloco has outdoor seating with umbrellas for us corporate folk that like to sit outside, but the whole sweating through our suits is an office don't. Why Boloco is Superior to Chipotle and Qdoba: 1. Boloco (short for Boston Local) is owned by a guy who rides the T and rents zip cars instead of owning one 2. It therefore is not owned by McDonald's (cough Chipotle and Pret) 3. Whole Wheat Tacos 4. Brown Rice 5. They once had a promo if you bring in trash from off the street, then you got the summer burrito for $3! 6. Clean Clean Clean 7. Various sizes of burrito 8. From Memphis to the Mediterranean, Boloco can offer someone of just about any taste. 9. Free wifi 10. Options for all white meat (+$)

Me encanta! This place is great! It's got a great variety of choices depending on what flavor you're looking for. You can also choose if you want to make a custom dish, which is nice. The prices are great! for 2 meals and 2 smooties, we paid $16! The ingredients are so fresh and so tasty! I also love that they had compostable cups and can recycle the foil! Will most definitely be going to more Bolocos!

Love that you can build your own as I am really picky. I keep it pretty simple but you can go pretty wild. My wife loves the chicken ceasar salad burrito and my daughter actually gets her rice and beans in a bowl. Smoothies are really good too!

Yucatán: one of the 31 states of Mexico, located on the northern tip of the Yucatán Peninsula. The Yucatán Burrito: probably has nothing to do with the the Yucatán Peninsula whatsoever, but nonetheless, is one of the greatest tubular objects ever to absolutely wreak havoc on my digestive system. I never thought I'd like pickled onions, but now I can't get enough of them. They add both sweet and bite to every, er, bite. I go with a large, with dark meat chicken. Going dark meat instead of white allows me to get double meat, without breaking the bank, although it does break the fragile lining of my stomach, leading to major surgery. Luckily, I live in Boston, surrounded by wonderful medical institutions of worldwide fame. Get one today!

During the snow storm last Friday my family and I went out for dinner. We were delighted to find that the Newbury Street Boloco was the only place open in Back Bay. The manager provided a friendly experience and great food as usual. I know they were the only Boloco that stayed open during the storm and I respect that decision! The Memphis BBQ, Cajun and Buffalo are the BEST!

I'm still a fan of this Boloco. I finally got a card, and have earned 3 free burritos so far! They have very nice people working here, who happen to make delicious burritos. I love the new "Late November" burrito, which has real roasted turkey, savory stuffing, and a delicious cranberry chutney. Oh, and some green beans add some vitamins and a nice crunch. If you have a need to satisfy your Thanksgiving craving, go here!

I have a lot of love for Boloco, but this location always seems to mess something up. Every time we go there, we're inevitably disappointed by one thing or another. I can deal with the small space, the inevitably-too-warm air, and the lines. But I can't deal with sloppily-made food. The last time we went to this location (which, for the record, we really only do if we can't find parking near our Boloco of choice, Berklee), we ordered our usual order but we got it to go. When we got home, I was pretty annoyed to open my daughter's mini bowl to find that she only got half a piece of tofu in it, and that the half piece looked as though it had been chewed up by ravenous dogs. The people working there are usually pretty nice, but I don't think they're really on top of their game when it comes to making food. The food they're pumping out is kind of a disappointment to the Boloco name. So while I still prefer subpar Boloco to no Boloco at all, this is not the Boloco I really want to find myself at.

I have never been to a place that was so consistently inconsistent. It's is either craptastic with horrid customer service. or Awesome, with happy and fun staff! Yay! The Burritos are either loaded up with plenty of meat and other goodness! or Have a minimal amount of everything and are soft and squishy. Yuck! They also stopped their breakfast menu - *tear* - the breakfast burrito was AWESOME! Sooo... if you're bold and daring, head on in, you may have some good eats or you will end up sad and unfulfilled. Good Luck!

Okay, well I've had better (Anna's Taqueria), but I love the fact that they have whole wheat tortilla and brown rice options. According to other reviews, their food is organic and such, and that for me is a biiiggg thumbs up. I was a little surprised at how small the burrito was though...I know at Anna's, it's like the size of a baby (exageration here)! And they don't melt the cheese on the burrito (I guess I'm just used to the Anna's styled burritos, haha). SO, I am biased and I didn't even want to go here (my friend forced me!) but it wasn't a bad experience...I've had better though.

Boloco is definitely not Mexican, but Mexican inspired. The burritos here aren't bad. Sure, they're creative, but I thought it was better and more creative when it was The Wrap. Back then, they had a few more burrito choices, like duck and my personal favorite Paella. At least they still have the Bangkok. These days, they've streamlined the menu and the burritos are leaner. But it's still a decent value. Sometimes the line is out the door, but it moves pretty quickly. I used to come here almost weekly when it was The Wrap. But these days I may come once a month if that. There's just nothing worth craving anymore.

Two thumbs up for creativity. I'm a big fan of the Bangkok with chicken or tofu and the Buffalo chicken. However, the Classic burrito is a major let down as this place is NOT a Mexican joint. As long as you stay clear of that, Boloco burritos will not disappoint. I would give their smoothies 3 stars though. Not blended very well, and often times too runny. Just stick with a soda with your burrito.

One of the best burritos I've ever had. Classic Mexican burrito has great taste and ingredients are super fresh. I'm definitely a fan and will be coming back. The Korean BBQ burrito is next for me. Two thumbs up.

It's been a while, but the last time I was there the burritos were delish and so were the smoothies. In case it wasn't well known, I just wanted to point out that Boloco is one of the few, certified "green" businesses in the Cambridge/Boston area. They deserve special attention and support for this effort! Environmental steps they've accomplished to become certified with the Green Restaurant Association are: 1. yum yum yum! This place has so many fun and interesting combinations, that's why it sets itself apart from Chipotle and Qdoba. I had the Summer one and after not having a burrito for over 2 weeks, it made me fall right back into my at-least-one-burrito-a-week habit. Too bad they don't have Boloco in LA!

What I love most about Boloco is how open they are to allowing you to customize your burrito. The ingredients are healthy- no antibiotics or growth hormones in their meat, they offer nutritional and allergy info on their website, and brown rice and whole wheat tortilla options. Their Boloco card is handy. The points accrue quickly and after spending $50, you get a free menu item. They will also e-mail with special deals. My healthy lunch option: regular size classic burrito with chicken ($5.95) I order it with brown rice, on a whole wheat tortilla without the cheese (so just beans, rice, chicken and salsa).

  • Liz E.

Oh yelpers, why the hatred? Please, folks, do not go here thinking that it is Mexican! It is not! If you think it is you will be disappointed! Severely! I feel passionate about this point. You can tell because I am not usually one to use exclamation marks with reckless abandon. Yes, the name change sucks. I still call it The Wrap. Always will. I love this place, and I've interestingly enough never had a bad experience at this location. Maybe because I'm a regular...?? I love that you can customize your burritos (brown rice, whole wheat tortillas, add lettuce, minus whatever, etc). My favorites: Mediterranean (brown rice, whole wheat tortilla) Classic (carnitas, yummm or tofu) Cape Codder Too bad about the recent price increases, but hey, what can you do?

Not big on their burritos, but... LOVE their smoothies. I always get a custom smoothie: soy milk, banana, a little honey, blueberries, a brain builder add-on and ice. Delicious! Also, being vegan, I am SO happy that they served grilled veggies, broccoli and TOFU! Very rare for a Mexican place. Very impressed. Chocolate chip cookies are baked fresh on site 2 sometimes 3 times daily. Delicious!! They serve breakfast til 11am. Looks yummy, but I've never tried it. Thankful that they give two size options for burritos. Grateful that almost all of their dining ware..cups, plates, etc, are compostable. Overheard the owners discussing replacing the workers' gloves with compostable ones too. Wish they had non-dairy froyo and almond milk for the smoothies. Price is perfect.

Definitely disappointed with this place. I had heard a lot about Boloco having amazing burritos; personally I found them to be average at best. For starters I wasn't a big fan of the set up. They make you order, then they hand that order to person standing right next to the register to assemble the burrito. I much prefer telling my order directly to the person making the burrito, so I can see how it's being made and make requests accordingly. Even if two people are ordering the exact same type of burrito doesn't mean that they like everything the same way. Some people prefer more rice than beans, or more salsa etc. Here they just make them, and they do so pretty inconsistently. I watched the person assembling the burrito use a different amount of rice, beans and meat, in just about every burrito he made. But on to the burrito itself, the only thing I could think of to describe it would be disappointing. It looked great, the ingredients sounded great, but it tasted very bland. Which started at the core, the rice, meat and beans all had little to no flavor. They had just enough flavor so you could identify what you were eating, but not much more. They do offer a lot of different options to help to mask this, but for me even that didn't help too much. In the end all I can really say is that it was a disappointing experience. I had high hopes for this place, everything looked and sounded like it would be really good. But it lacked in the one category that really matters, taste.

This place hits the spot when you're looking for relatively fast, not that great quality food. It's nowhere near REAL Mexican Food (seeing how it's categorized as "Mexican"); would an authentic Mexican food restaurant serve Teriyaki Burritos? ... lol. No. The service isn't anything to rave about but for the most part they're decently efficient; I've found they've been a lot more inviting when I speak in Spanish with them...

I had avoided this place for years. It looked like a bland chain. The other day I needed some food quick and got a buffalo chicken wrap and I was blown away. It was super yummy and cheap. The atmosphere could use some work as the tables were not well cleaned and it was tiny.

Common, guys! Boloco's not that bad! Yes, the name change was heinous. They do wraps general better than they do burritos specific, but que sera sera. I still like the food. I like that they steam the tortilla. I like that I can pick my filling type as well as my protein type. I really like the smoothies. Unfortunately this location is lacking a little. Sometimes it's hard to communicate with the staff (apathy, noise level, other pushy customers, language barrier). It gets crowded with Newbury shoppers. But on a summer day, catch me scooting down Newbury Street, dodging tourists, popping into Lush to refresh my facial product needs, running across the street to this local to grab a quick lunch to go before escaping to the respite that is a park bench on Comm Ave to enjoy my scrumptious wrap.

I'm normally a big fan of Boloco. I always get the same things in the goloco and it's delicious. I work on Newbury and I get the largest size, cut it in half, and have lunch and dinner. Normally everything is great- but the last time I went to the Newbury location, there was an employee who seemed to be training who had a serious attitude problem. I work at Starbucks and totally get being tired of customer service, but that's what you're getting paid to do, so smile and pretend you're happy. He was moving at a glacial pace and was totally unfriendly. Another employee was helping him and telling him about basic procedures, so it was clear he hadn't been around long. Another customer came in and was given the wrong burrito, and instead of remaking it he told the customer to get back in the (long, lunch time rush) line. Not good service, not apologetic for the mistake, no sense of urgency for anyone. That being said, I love Boloco and I love that the company supports local artists, and I'm happy there are two within walking distance from my work! But maybe they should be a little more selective with their hiring.

Please note that this review is for the BBQ Burrito at Boloco, not for the overall restaurant chain itself. To quote a friend "The penguin is to birds what Boloco is to burrito restaurants." On with the review... I decided to go to Boloco for lunch. I usually go with the buffalo chicken wrap, which is usually consistent in texture, flavor, and overall satisfaction. They were advertising their new "BBQ Burrito" so I thought I'd take her for a spin... What it is: Pinto beans, their "sweet" bbq sauce, coleslaw, and your choice of meat. Seeing as how smoked brisket was not an option, I went with the braised pork (carnitas). First impression: This thing is dripping out oil like a chevy station wagon after a demolition derby. It's about the same amount of output as a large cheese pizza, if not more. Has me worried right from the get-go. First bite: I taste a tiny hint of something resembling BBQ sauce - but ultimately it tastes like salty pork and pinto beans. I now realize that their "coleslaw" is simply shredded carrots with some seasoning (which I can barely detect). At this point, the thing is starting to fall apart like a Prepac TV stand during an earthquake, so I'm off to the kitchen to get a fork and plate. Back in a few... And we're back. I'm now halfway through this beast (I went with the large) and I'm starting to make eye contact with the fight doctor standing behind the ropes..."Get ready to throw in the towel, Doc!" A few more bites into the other half, and I'm still not picking up anything new since the first bite. Ding, ding, ding. This one's over. Pros: I wouldn't go so far as to say it tasted bad, but it's not getting more than an "edible, at best" from me. Cons: Where to begin...First, No BBQ flavor. Overall taste is very bland and greasy. Pork needed a lot more seasoning. Would have gone with black beans over pinto beans. Coleslaw is puny, but even a good coleslaw wouldn't have improved this thing. Either their BBQ sauce is the orange oil that was pouring out, or they need to drain off the pork before they load it in. Perhaps getting the chicken would be a better option, although the lack of BBQ sauce will be more noticeable with chicken. Overall: 4.6 out of 10

Wow, this place is actually pretty yummy for something that takes maybe 10 minutes from door to door. With a drink my large burrito was $9 which is a little much... but so was the burrito! I easilly could have gotten a small, but it was my first time! I ordered the custom burrito so I was able to make it a little more on the healthy side (no cheese, no sour cream... you get the picture). Overall I can easilly say that I was pleased with this little gem of a fast food joint!

Patrons beware: This location has no restroom, but has a free hotspot. Can someone tell me how can you eat & connect somewhere without a readily available restroom? As far as the food goes, I hadn't been here since it was known as The Wrap, but they go rid of one of my favorites: the thanksgiving wrap. So, I had the Bangkok - it was about average, but very very very small. I got the regular size instead of the large. I think it's a bit overpriced for what you get... Other locations may have a better setup w/ a restroom, but I'm not sure I'll be visiting them unless I really need to get online...

I like Bolocco, just the other locations around town I went in here around 7PM on a Wed night and the place was not busy at all. I felt like I was interrupting the staff from their private conversation when I came up to order. First of all, the number of up charges is ridiculous, I counted 8 including white meat chicken for an extra charge. My "large" burrito has hastily put together and so small I was still hungry after I finished it (the first time this has ever happened). The woman seemed to slop on as little as possible of each ingredient. They were even stingy with the beans! come on how much do beans cost? Another annoyance is the lack of a bathroom which doesn't make sense at all. Again, I like Bolocco's other locations, I would just avoid Newbury St.

i'm a chipotle fanatic. i saw this place on a visit, had to try it out. Boloco. Bollock-o..... They could never get away with this name in Britain. It really brought out adolescent giggles from me first time I saw it. Having said that the wraps/burritos are quite nice and certainly feel a little healthier than something like Taco Bell. This chain would actually be quite appreciated in London if they thought of a new name. Sadly, the Newbury St branch isn't the best as it's too crowded, too downstairs and the outside seating area is too over-run by a quite cute gang of small cheeky birds. They obviously thrive on the food flotsam and jetsam of mis-eaten wraps that decorates the floor. In fact, I was so conscious of this little hood of feathered gangsters that I paid extra care and attention to the instructions provided by Boloco on the ideal way to eat a wrap. Were these instructions successful in preventing me losing a dollars worth of my meal to the floor and birds? Were they bollocks-o!

First off, this is the worst name change of all time. "The Wrap" was pretty self explanatory, but Bolocco provides no insight into what the business actually does. At first I was going to boycott it on the grounds that the new management must literally be "locco" to orchestrate such a misleading renaming, but since it was so close to where I worked, I caved and became a regular. I like that you can get everything catered exactly how you want it- you can add and subtract ingredients, substitute black beans instead of pinto beans, a wheat tortilla instead of a white tortilla or even go crazy and design your own. It's vegetarian friendly- you can ask for tofu or no meat in any of their burritos- and if you are avoiding carbs like the plague, you can even screw the tortilla altogether and get your burrito in a bowl. Even though they occasionally mess up your order, Bolocco is still the best place around Newbury Street for a quick, cheap lunch. It's a step up from most of the fast food places around, but definitely not a giant leap.

I used to be a big fan of this place back in the days when it was called The Wrap. While you can still get a decent burrito there, the problem is that is seems like a real crap shoot based on who is making your food. There is one person in particular I distinctly remember making me a crappy burrito (was smaller than it should have been and fell apart easily) that when I walked in the next time and saw they were on duty I walked right out! One should never have to do this at a place they like. When you put aside some of their less than ideal burrito makers, they often have a great product. But like one of the other reviewers mentioned, don't go in there when its really busy, as it could take 5 minutes or 25 minutes, there's no telling.

I am a total Boloco groupie, and this is the place I usually go to get my burrito fix. This place is small and can get ridiculously crowded during the week at lunch time, but the staff there knows how to keep the line moving. The staff is always friendly and will say hi to people (like me) who they see all the time. Great place.

Heard alot of people raving about Boloco so had to give it a try the other day. Let me preface by saying I am a big Anna's Tacqueria fan and this place is crap in comparison. I place my order for the traditional with carnitas while the staff is talking to each other in spanish and I felt like I was intruding on their conversation as it was an odd time (4pm) and not busy at all. Expecting to be asked what I wanted, the person making my burrito just slops on the pinto and rice and never asked if I wanted black beans instead. As for the taste, I felt the beans and rice is much better @ Anna's. The carnitas was decent. You can tell they are amateur burrito makers compared to Anna's employees. Doubt I'll be going back to this place...

Trying to save a buck or two for a quick bite to eat on Newbury street VS. a Mediterranean "burrito" Who wins by tricking my stupid ass into EVER ordering a "burrito" containing balsamic vinegar and feta cheese of all things? this oblong object masquerading as a supposed Mexican food Mediterranean "burrito" = UNINSPIRING mish mash of tasteless rice, goopy hummus, olives, cucumbers and the aforementioned vinegar and feta dumped in a cold, chewy tortilla that got soggy and fell apart because of incompetent wrapping Yes, I know, this is a chain in the bland Americanized style of Chipotle and perhaps I should have just ordered a burrito filled simply with meat, rice and beans but this was simply atrocious!

I really enjoyed this place. I tried one of thier traditional burritos and it was pretty good. The only problem was that it was a little too small for my liking. I reall enjoyed the service and the atmosphere. One of my favorite things was the smoothies. I had a smoothie with yogurt, milk, strawberries, bananas, and nutella! It was amazing and I would go there for the smoothies alone. Also, another plus is that they use eco-friendly products!!

I already have my burrito joint (Anna's all the way) but the tiny bags, scattered locations all over now and smoothies deserve some kudos! I'm glad they did the whole modern look thing with the jamba juice idea next to it. They even put up a cardboard cut out of an article that makes fun of their name change from The Wrap to this Boloco. The Big Green was a big go accompanied by the Cape Codder smoothie!

I went to this Boloco on my lunch break a few weeks ago. I only had 30min to get some where, get my food, eat it, and get back. I figured something like Boloco would be fast. Wrong. It was insanely busy and for a place with an assembly line like method of making wraps, it sure wasn't fast or efficient. Took about 20 minutes to get my wrap which I proceeded to scarf down on my way back to work. I made it back on time but still ended up being late as the buffalo chicken wrap sent me to the bathroom for another 10 minutes or so. Thanks Boloco, you're dirty.

I've been coming to this place since it was called The Wrap when I was a Sophomore in high school. The wraps are so delicious. My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken wrap. I don't like it too much on the hot side, so when you tell them not to put a lot of hot sauce on it, they usually only put like a tiny bit, which is somewhat annoying because I need some flavor. The prices are pretty cheap. It's only $5 or so for a wrap. These places are everywhere, so if you're anywhere around town you can find one. I would recommend this place to people.

diggin the wifi and the outdoor seating and the super yummy classic with steak. not diggin the lack of light inside the lack of bathroom (c'mon...seriously?) and the name change from the wrap. the wrap is a way better name than boloco. great for a lunch break or a pick me up while shopping. ps...their cape codder is great!

I LOVE BURRITOS! I tried Boloco soon after it opened on Mass. Ave, and while it isn't traditional, I dig it. The burritos are fun and very non-standard, and the smoothies are delish. I have grown used to the fact that there's very little in the way of traditional Mexican food in the Northeast, and after many years, I have adapted and cook for myself usually if I want some enchiladas. I am a fan of this place.....the food is good, with good veggie options and they are always relatively quick, despite past reviews I've read. The tofu is good, and they are accomidating if you want other things on your burrito. I use my Boloco card often, and if you register it online, you get $5 put on. I redeemed my frequent burrito eater points the other day, and if you go in after 4pm, burritos are two for $7. I hooked my boyfriend and I up for a burrito-y dinner. He hadn't tried it before, and he approved. I got the Cajun, which was delicious, and though I normally don't get black beans, I liked them in this burrito. I am a west coaster and love my beans refried! I ordered him the classic, but somehow they heard terriaki, but it ended up being fine because he enjoyed that one just the same. Also, I have decided that all places need rewards cards.....you buy so many, you get one free. I generally frequent places a lot if I like them, so they should give you rewards for it. So hurray for free burritos!

I liked the Wrap, and so I thought that I would like Boloco. In fact, I used to like them. And then they ruined my lunch. I got a barbecue wrap with tofu, waited twenty minutes (it was busy), found that they hadn't bothered to make mine, and then when I told the lady at the counter what I'd had, she yelled stuff up the line, and then a few minutes later I finally got my wrap. Unfortunately, it was not only filled with chicken, but it also wasn't even the barbecue wrap! Jeebis. And being a vegetarian, I was pretty grossed out ... luckily, I hadn't bitten a piece with any chicken, but I could see it in there. Basically, I won't be coming back.

Okay, first off I'm going to continue to call this place "The Wrap" until the day I die. The burritos are excellent and the smoothies are a little better. The portions could go up and the prices could go down. Other than that, this place is the balls. I recommend: The Teriyaki (grilled chicken w/ teriyaki sauce, carmelized onions, broccoli, and rice.) with The Strawbana smoothie

Love the concept. Food was great and anyplace with sustainably raised food deserves all the support in the world. I ordered a bowl with no rice but unfortunately didn't realize they included rice by the time I got home. I suppose I should pay attention next time when they're putting my order together.

I'm actually very surprised by all the bad reviews. Bolocco is simple, fast, and really tasty! I can't seem to venture away from my Summer Burrito with wheat wrap and brown rice order, but at some point I'm bound to get sick of it and try them all. Love the soy smoothie-- but I have had a bad smoothie experience (my boyfriend ordered the cape codder, it never came, asked again and they pureed blueberries and apple juice....I mean, it was good, just not a smoothie). Neither of us were phased-- still love it!

Oh, Boloco, how I miss thee. I used to go here at least 3 times a week. I couldn't get enough of the buffalo chicken wrap, it was heaven to me. Then I realized how BAD they are for you. I'm no health nut by any means, but I can no longer justify over 1000 calories for a teeny burrito, no matter how good. Every once in a great while, it's a treat for me. B/c I DO love them. Bonus points for Boloco owning up to the nutritional value on their website. Yes, it's chaotic in the miniscule space they call a store. It's loud, usually very hot, and frantic, if you've never been there before. That can also add to the appeal. You get in, order, and get out. This isn't a leisurely lunch-type place. Although, they do have some great tables outside, prime people-watching locales. And the Boloco card, where when you spend $25, you get $5. That's free lunch! Works for me. Free birthday burritos, I just also received an email for a free breakfast burrito. Their marketing is spot-on, if only they could offer some equally tasty low-cal options, I'd be in daily.

I would like to see hands for people who remember this as "the Wrap"... Just as I thought, there are 4 of us. The Wrap was like Boloco if Boloco was awesome. First, you had WAY more choices of "proteins" (and by 'way', I mean that they had shrimp, and I love shrimp), you could pick a "platform" or create whatever you wanted (I went both ways on this one, their Cajun "platform" was on par with good sex, but then again there were those times that I just wanted to go crazy, you know what I mean?) and the extra guacamole was only .50 cents extra. But those were different times. Now we have Boloco, which is OK. Not awesome, but OK. Now I know that you can 'Create your own!', but have you ever tried? It is as if you just asked the nice Latinos behind the counter to rip off their arm so that you can eat it, 'oh and can I have a little more black beans?' they just kind of look at you with a blank stare that I take to mean 'fuck no'. I don't know about the other "proteins" but I do know that the tofu is always, always, over done. All that being said, the ingredients are always fresh when I go in, so that is a star. The people never yell at me, only stare at me with blank eyes, so that is a star (because I feel nice today). And 85% of the time when I go in there is no line and they have free, really cold water, so that is a star. That is it. They get no stars for the AC always being on, no stars for the very loud Spanish music that is always on (always), and no stars for never really wiping down the tables after someone has made a mess.

So happy to have discovered this place! Don't usually grab Mexican fast food (Taco Bell=Taco Hell) but this place is great. The Summer Burrito with chicken is my favorite. You can taste the fresh cilantro in every bite- they don't skimp. Def recommend this place if you're looking to grab a quick bite- or even if you're not. They have a patio so you can eat outside and people-watch on Newbury.

LOVE this place! I highly recommend the Summer burrito. The food here is excellent and the smoothies are delicious and refreshing. It seems like an odd combo - I wouldn't mix the two but they are great separately!

The buffalo chicken burrito is out of this world. I honestly cannot even describe in words how delicious it is! It's quite a unique idea too -- I absolutely love the chopped celery. I've never had anything like it. I don't know where they get their buffalo sauce and bleu cheese dressing from, but they are the best buff. sauce and bleu cheese I have ever tasted. OMG. SOO GOOD! I haven't even tried any other burritos from Boloco, I MUST order the buffalo chicken every single time. It's AMAZINGGGGGGG. I can't even deal.

Easy and fast, but nothing special. I'm somewhat biased because I was spoiled by the awesome tacquerias in San Francisco. The burrito that I had was OK, but certainly not "inspired".... (does it mean they have to be in a trance to throw together a burrito ?)

I always get so confused when people know Boloco but not the Wrap. As I've eaten at The Wrap on Newbury, Mass Ave near Berklee, and in Harvard Square, I'm so glad that the only real change is the name. I am so in love with the Caesar + Chicken wrap that I refuse to have anything else. I may have tried the 'Asian' once when I was in dire need of peanut sauce, but usually, the novelty of having croutons in a wrap always stops me from trying something else. Croutons! In a wrap! Anyhow, I love that the name actually stands for something and since I'm always getting smoothies (BECAUSE THEY ARE SO GOOD! more on that later) I like that there's always ice cold water handy on the counter instead of having to bother the busy workers. Smoothies---as a resident of Southern California, the land of healthy-conscious eating just for the sake of looks, I have been majorly spoiled by the smoothie chains (Jamba Juice, Surf City Squeeze) and even the 'smoothies' that aren't made from real fruit at bubble tea places. That said, Boloco smoothies really hit the spot. The price (only $3.50, and their menu always has the tax included so you're not scrounging around for that random 67 cents at your bill) + actual fruit + made in front of you (if you choose to be weird and watch, that is) + the TASTE made it our smoothie locale of choice for my friends and I this summer (and if you're in the area, Ankara's is pretty yummy too, more expensive though). The Strawbana (banana+strawberry+apple juice+orange juice) is usually what we get, but the Soy Strawberry one (soy milk+strawberry+honey+banana) and my friend's Cra'c'y (orange juice+mango+banana) were pretty good too. Whey-Out (mango+strawberry+banana+protein+"vitality pack") sounds good in principle, but was pretty tasteless and chalky, with this thick foam consistency. I'm not sure what the point is in calling their wraps burritos but overall, I'm glad it's just a name change and not a downgrade in quality. I've never been disappointed. I heart smoothies, please expand to Wellesley!

Honestly, I don't see what makes Boloco superior to Qdoba or Baja Fresh or Moe's, or any other chain burrito joint. The plusses include small burritos for those who don't want to eat a gigantic meal, and a wide variety of flavors: ie. Cajun, or Summer, which comes complete with mango salsa. That said, it's overpriced, and really not as good as Anna's or Boca Grande.

Whether it's for a refreshing smoothie, or unique burrito after a long, hard day, Boloco never fails to disappoint. With a friendly staff and wide variety of menu items, Boloco is one of my favorite "everyday" places to eat in the Back Bay. Unfortunately their best menu item, the "Late November Burrito," is only available for three weeks out of the year. The best year-round menu item is the $3 breakfast burrito.

The food is good for a cheap lunch in boston... the atmosphere sucks. I don't want to feel like I got my lunch from a factory assembly line and then have to table-stalk. I live in the Back Bay so when I'm too lazy to get on the T or ride my bike to Anna's, boloco is an acceptable substitute. However, since Boca Grande opened in Fenway, I'd much rather walk the extra 3 blocks there.

Original ideas as far as "inspired burritos" go. (Note: thai and mango styles), but for the price (5 for a small), go to Anna's. Everything is sloppily thrown into the burrito and the toppings are not as fresh or plentiful as they could be.

Boloco is so chill and really does cater to anything that you want. The options are endless, and if you don't like something, you can just create it yourself. I really actually prefer Boloco over Chipotle or Qdoba because it's not just strictly Mexican. Another great touch are their delicious smoothies. I was in Boloco the other day and had already ordered a "Cookie Monster" smoothie when the smoothie-maker recommended to me that I let her add some nutella--to die for. A part from the smoothies, Boloco actually does allow you to be healthy if you want to be. The entire atmosphere is just so relaxing and enjoyable, that there really isn't much not to like.

This review is in comparison to other Bolocos around the area. Compared to the other locations, their service is poor and, for whatever reason, their burritos are smaller. When I get my burritos at other locations, the wrap can hardly contain the product inside it. Here, it wraps around with extra tortilla. The other day, I swung by here because it was on my way home. One worker was reading a newspaper, another was eating lunch. One guy took my order and a fourth started making my order. He got halfway done, then walked to the back to pick up the phone.... while my burrito sat half done and open on the counter. I kind of looked around, the two workers sitting outside of the counter averted their eyes. The one behind the register laughed. A fifth person, a young lady came from the back, took her sweet time to put on some gloves and finished what apparently the other guy didn't feel like doing. Not acceptable.

Once, I had catering from Boloco and it was awesome. Unfortunately, my experience at the actual restaurant was not as impressive. The food was mediocre at best: the black beans were undercooked and crunchy, the mango salsa was unremarkable, and--the worst burrito offense of all--the stuff was unevenly distributed throughout, so the first bit was all rice and the last all beans. Hate that! Also hate when burrito makers are stingy with the guac, especially when you pay practically a buck extra. Service was also sub-par. Before I had even finished my order the cashier had hit total and spat what I owed at me. "But, uh.... I want a drink too," I said, to which he rapid-fired another total without asking if there was anything else I wanted. There are sooooo many better places to get a burrito in Boston than Boloco, trust me.

No, Boloco isn't the place if you want "real" Mexican food, but they don't claim to be that place either. The service isn't always the best and the Newbury St. location is a bit tiny on the inside so in my opinion, it's usually better to take out. In the warmer weather they have some nice outdoor seating which is great for people watching on one of the city's priciest streets. The menu, to me, always looks great but I can't get past my love of their mango salsa in the summer burrito to have tried much else. I've had bites of friend's orders and have been equally impressed with the whole menu. You have to give them credit, some of their combos are pretty original. But the main reason I'm giving this 4 out of 5 is for the smoothies. I consider myself to be a bit of an addict on smoothies and cannot get over the ones I've had at Boloco! I can't even recommend just one, they are all superb!

I LOVE Boloco and ate at the Park Plaza location every day when I was pregnant with my second. This location, however, is awful. The smoothies are always a little half-melted, and they never, ever have my online order ready when I'm there to pick it up. I can barely make eye contact with the cooks to tell them I HAVE an online order to pick up, which I'm never confident they actually have prepared . . . there is something seriously wrong with this location.

Just got done eating here...big mistake. I now realized why I haven't been here in many years. Bad service serving food that's worse. We went in there because we were hungry and tired after a long day of work. We wanted a burrito and were too lazy to travel. One of the things they do wrong is making you pay first and then trying to make the order that they charged you for. They should make the burrito by order and then you should be charged accordingly at the register. The guy making the order made it obvious that he was annoyed that we didn't have a simple order. The Memphis burrito is horrible! I don't know what I was thinking. The rice was not cooked properly and the flavors don't work. I will not make this mistake again...I'm so sorry.

This is the Boloco in my neighborhood. Burritos for relatively cheap and some pretty unique flavors too. Plus you can get milkshakes/smoothies too. There's not many better quick meals than a Summer burrito and a Jimmy Carter milkshake. Say what you will about Carter as a president, it's a damn good milkshake (peanut butter and banana, mmmmmmm)

Recently started a job in the area, and this has become my go-to place for lunch. There are lots of other options around, but this is the most reliable one I've found in the neighborhood. Service is FAST and pretty friendly. The wraps are tasty and the smoothies are good. Price is decent, too--$6.50 for a HUGE burrito is a pretty good deal. For Mexican, I prefer Chipotle--but Boloco isn't mex. Give me a Bangkok with Chicken any day!

Dinnered here the other day because we were craaaaaving burritos and with a place that boasts "inspired burritos" how could we resist? We couldn't, obviously. So, we popped in for a quick bite and oh, it was awesome. Burritos and smoothies = delicious! I think the best part is that the menu is set up so that there are burrito/salad "flavors" and you pick the meat/tofu/chicken/etc separately. Therefore, for example, you're not forced to eat a BBQ Chicken Taco, you can eat a BBQ Steak Taco or a BBQ Tofu Taco - these aren't the actual names BTW. As a vegetarian, this really opens up your options since you don't have to automatically cut down your choices down to a mere handful :) ...Minus a star because for the prices, you get no chips and the service isn't all that friendly to be honest. Plenty of seating inside and outside.

I've got issues of the most extreme nature with Boloco. Yes, they have tasty burritos (hence the two stars) but they suck so much at the same time. So I went in the other day during lunch and ordered a nice burrito. Large classic chicken on wheat with guac. I paid and went to pick it up and what did I get? Large buffalo chicken. They even read my order back to me before they handed me the burrito so I figured they had got it right. WRONG! Unfortunately it wasn't until I got back to my desk did I notice their mistake. But that's only half the story. I figured that since all of their ingredients were natural and whatever that is wouldn't be THAT bad for me. WRONG AGAIN! If I had gotten the burrito that I asked for it would've had 996 cals, 42grams of fat, 14 grams of sat fat, and 2022 mg of sodium. The burrito I got was much worst at 1105 cals, 64 grams of fat, 24 grams sat fat, and 2355 mg sodium. WTF? Never getting a burrito there ever again. I guess its my fault for not checking before I went though.

Be it black or pinto, the beans are dry and crunchy. Very gross food. Causes embarrassing flatulence - I work in a very confined space and I find my eyes tearing up from the terrible stench. One star for giving me the ability to crop dust all the little rich trust fund kids on Newbury st.

I just read a review below that criticized this restaurant for not serving authentic Mexican food. Ummm, dude, this place has smoothies. And Bangkok chicken wraps. Respect the 'loco, ok?

I love boloco but I hate this location. Employees were unfriendly, unresponsive, and the rice was dry as hell (read: old and crunchy) to which they responded "no it isn't"
