Had to take my uncle Louie to bar Louie! However it wasn't exactly what I expected. The service was pretty slow. The loaded fries were good. The nachos...the chips were stale and the cheese was similar to valveeta....none of us were impressed. If we weren't starving I don't think we would have eaten them. A couple of people in our party ordered burgers medium rare and they were cooked well done. I had the peach salad and I enjoyed it...but not the cubes of chicken. The only thing bringing this to a three star review is because the waitress gave my little cousin a free dessert which was very good. Over all we came here for the Louie name and the experience.

Walked in here after a Red Sox game because there was a long line to Yardhouse; glad I did. The service was okay, food was great, and drinks were great. I ordered the grilled veggie flatbread and my girlfriend ordered the Mac and Cheese- both of these were good. I had a Manhattan (which was on point!!), and my girlfriend had a smores martini (which is delicious btw); they used premium alc for the drinks and were reasonably priced. I really liked the vibe of this place, whether you're a huge party or looking for an intimate setting, there is a place for you. The location is so big and seemed to have a "quiet" area and a "big group" area, at least when I went (~11pm on a Friday). 4* because the server forgot to refill our waters, and took a while to check up on us.

This place is a bad version of Applebee's. Went in for a late lunch on a Sunday not during a Sox game. There were maybe 5-7 other tables sitting when we arrived. Yet, the service was truly awful. We waited a long, long, long time for anyone to come take our drink orders. We had to ask for water that didn't show up until the food did. Ordering food took a similarly long time, and our waitress just... stopped paying attention to us? A bartender eventually brought us our food. During the wait, another party got up and left because the place was so slow. And the food was... bad. I had some bone dry sliders and (when they eventually came out) oily fries. This was the only time in my entire life where I didn't leave a tip. If I knew it was a kitchen snafu and not the waitress's fault (in other words, if anyone at all had apologized or offered and explanation), I would've left my standard 20%. But nobody earned anything. Should've gone to Panera.

Before a Red Sox game the area is inundated with people trying to eat or drink before a game. When Boston Beer Works was running an our line we ended up at Bar Louie which had a much shorter wait. We were seated at a booth that was filthy and the server didn't care when we told her the table needed to be cleaned. The soft drinks were ordered and placed on the dirty table. Ordered an appetizer and our entries at the same time. After over an hour wait for our meals I started to ask for the manager, Tony. A few people told me he was busy in the kitchen and couldn't come out. Another server told me he gave him the message that I wanted to talk to him but after another 15 minutes we got up and left leaving the money on the table for the items we actually received.

my friends and i went to bar louie for food and drinks after work. similar to other bar chains, they offer a selection of cocktails, drinks, beers, and wines with traditional bar food. prices are reasonable in general, although i definitely recommend taking advantage of the happy hour half priced apps (4-7pm - although only selected apps available) and the $5 burgers after 5pm on tuesdays. our waitress was really nice and friendly, but in general the service was pretty slow and especially lagged after the first round of drinks. everyone seemed to enjoy their burgers, although i made the mistake of getting the french fries rather than the tater tots. there are about 10 different burgers to choose from and the beef can also be swapped out for chicken or portabella mushroom.

We were looking for a place to get some drinks and apps before a Red Sox game. Definitely picked the right place. Even though there was a line, the wait was only about 20 minutes. Everyone was super friendly. We met the manager and he bought us a round of drinks. The pineapple sangria was fabulous. The waitstaff was very attentive even though the bar was very crowded with people heading to the game. This has definitely become the go-to place for us before baseball games.

Came here for the first time to celebrate some co-worker's birthdays. There were about 14 of us, a pretty large group. I got a Lagunita's IPA and a roasted vegetable flatbread... My meal was okay, nothing too special about it; the flatbread was just decent. However several of my friends had issues with their meals... A few mix ups of salad and side orders, as well as a hair found cooked into someone's burger (Ew!). The waitress was very understanding and tried her best to correct the orders and replace the burger, which was very appreciated. She even ended up not charging us for the mistakes! Overall, I would not return here for food. If I came back, It'd probably be for happy hour, since their drink/cocktail menu looked on-point.

Would sometimes go 20 minutes with an empty beer glass at the bar. We were invisible. The price of hiring young attractive staff is they're more interested in flirting with each other than servicing customers. The food and drinks were what you'd expect from a higher end city bar.

Tonight I started with an enjoyable experience, but ended on a terrible note. Bartender Brittney is the only redeeming quality of this bar, and the only bartender here who deserves any money. On a slow Friday night there is no reason why I should have to wait 15+ minutes for my check AFTER both my food and beer have been cleared. Two male bartenders walked passed me several times without even making eye contact. The poor Brittney was on the other side of the bar helping customers, there is no reason why the other bartenders couldn't have at least acknowledged me. VERY disappointed in a local bar that I have previously always enjoyed.

My visit here was truly a disappointment, which was surprising since the BL in Foxboro is just fine. My wife & I were attempting to grab a drink & an appetizer before a show at the House of Blues, but that did not happen. When we first arrived, we were given a friendly greeting & our order was taken. That was the last time our waitress visited our table. We noticed others around us were becoming frustrated due to slow service, but at least their waitress was there to apologize. Ours was nowhere to be seen. After an hour wait on a salad and a quesadilla, and others around us complaining about cold food, we took off. My wife literally had to run after out waitress to pay. Anytime you have to run down a waitress is a pitiful sign for a restaurant. The moral to the story, avoid Bar Louie's next to Fenway. Go to The Yard House instead!

This was not our choice to go here but every other bar around Fenway was packed I know understand why we got in. It was a concert night but they should know how to handle these types of crowds! First off, it took my wife 25 minutes from when she ordered her wine for it to get delivered! This is restaurant 101, get people their drinks and they will STFU! After waiting I finally went to the bar and got drinks in 2 seconds that is unacceptable!!! Second, the food was so so...fish tacos were dry with soupy black beans, stale rice, the tortilla shells were not the traditional type and fell apart as you put the contents in, oh , did I mention you had to make them yourself too? Burger was good but that's about it. Service was the slowest ever and not one shred of personality. This place is a real disappointment, I can't believe they have so many locations.

Bar Louie has recently emerged to become one of my favorite pre-gaming destinations before a Sox game. I really like the location, and I find it's not as crazy busy as the other bars around Fenway. I would attribute this to the fact that it's about 2 blocks down the street, so a lot of people coming in from parking or the T in Kenmore Square might not know it was there if they weren't looking for it. We've showed up about 1-1.5 hours before the game and usually find a bar seat without issue. The big things I like about Bar Louie, are the specials, and Ben the bartender. They run a lot of appetizer specials from 4-7....which falls perfectly in time for most games. It includes some terrific flatbreads and bar snacks. Better yet, on Tuesday they have gourmet specialty burgers for $5! I strongly recommend the Philly Cheesesteak, but they all look great. Lastly, Ben is a great bartender. The mixed drinks are always perfect, he's attentive, and one time recently we had a mild hiccup with the door staff and I was impressed that he got involved right away to make sure it got rightfully cleared up. Will definitely return.

Worst service. Everything came late and the server forgot to alert us that the app we had ordered had run out until 30 mins into waiting for all of our food. I will not be returning to this sub par restaurant.

  • Alex M.

I shouldn't give it such a low review but this is kind of indicative of the whole area. Expensive drinks or beers (none of which are interesting or terribly local) and the food was ok. It should have been better for the price. Also, I know California is in the midst of a drought but Boston is not. Water should be brought to the table after a party has been seated. We shouldn't have to ask three times for it. The point is I can't really grouse too much. This place is exactly like all the other places nearby. Boring, expensive and not worth it. That's what always happens near a sports stadium though.

It was two hours before the game, and almost every bar and restaurant were packed in like sardines. My family had made their way to the yard house across the street, but we were told we'd have a 45 minute minimum wait to be seated. I looked on yelp to find some other options while we waited, and sure enough Bar Louie was a hit! The nicest girl answered the phone, and encouraged us to head on over and grab a seat yourself table for 8! Such a great choice! Our appetizers and cocktails were delish and the curbside table was perfection for people watching! Couldn't have made a better choice!

I went to Bar Louie last night for a small birthday celebration. The good was very good, and the atmosphere was very nice. The service was a little slow, but the manager came and apologized and explained that they were very short-staffed because several people had called in sick. I appreciated her doing that. I plan to come back! P.S. - try the loaded Tater Tots!

Review for Bar Louie in Fenway, MA: This location is good for having drinks and appetizers with friends or going on a date. I've been here for both occasions and the atmosphere is friendly, the waitresses are good with timing the meal and drinks, and the food is always to my expectations or better. In addition to good food and service, the music isn't too loud where you can't have a conversation with the person next to or across from you. I usually get a mason dixon (drink) with their brisket sliders (appetizer) which never disappoints me. I've also had their chocolate cake for dessert which is AMAZING. Overall, the prices for everything are average, meaning what you should expect to pay when going out in the Fenway area, around $8 - $12 for a mix drink. The grill is open until 1am or later so if you want a late night snack and drink this is the place to go. Also, even when the college students are around I've never experienced an obnoxious crowd of students who clearly have fakes or just turned 21 and are getting plastered. The crowd is usually around mid-twenties and older whenever I go on a Friday or Saturday.

So, I have been to both locations for Bar Louie. Foxboro & Boston. I was not very impressed at either locations! They are very self-centered and do not seem to want to be courteous to all guests! I went for some drinks with friends after work and when we sat down, it took one of the bar tenders 10-15 minutes to even attend to us and take our drink order. When we asked for a drink menu, she acted as if it was such an inconvenience and when she came back, she dumped the menus at us. Not happy at this point but I gave her a second chance. It was all good until we asked for the bill. She gave us our check and when we paid, we paid with a card and left a cash tip. When I fill out the bill and sign, I always write out CASH where it says time. Later to find out, she types in a tip ON TOP of her CASH TIP. I went back the next day and complained and when I was trying to resolve this, they all acted dumb. I said to them this was the last time I would give them my business and you are certain I told my friends about this as well. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!

I'm not usually a huge fan of places like this, but Bar Louie was great. Having come from a bar up the road that sadly left us hungry (as they stopped serving food at midnight), we were thrilled to find a place that offered their full menu until close! ..and the food was actually really great! Based on the vibe and the fact that it's a chain I half expected frozen/fried crap like TGI Fridays, but was pleasantly surprised! I had the avocado fries and shared some nachos and pretzels with friends and they were all delicious. The drink menu was also more craft oriented and thankfully lacking any sweet sugar-coma crap. My old fashioned was quite tasty! Oh, and I also really appreciated having a server who was still so pleasant and helpful at such a late hour. Props to you lady! I will definitely be bookmarking this as a go-to spot for late night bites in Beantown!

Had a table for five.....2 of us as we waited for #3 to arrive. A line formed outside so the GM wouldnt let #3 in! There were at 25 open seats. Canceled food order and left. GM doesnt know how to count in order to maintain fire capacity. One star for stupidity!

It was "meh" (she says, shrugging her shoulders). My drinks were good, but how hard is it to put a glass under the tap and then get those to the table? So I suppose the rating is higher for that, but..... Our server (female) was very nice (don't know her name) but they seemed to be understaffed, so it took a while to get her. We're thirsty, damn hungry (which is why we are in a restaurant) and we need service! Anyhow, we just needed FOOD. Honestly, at that point I would have eaten a loaf of bread if you flung it at me, but thankfully I didn't order anything too complex because I would have been there until the New Year. It looks like my experience was similar to many other Yelper's, so hopefully someone from BL will take notice. Hello, Bar Louie? Hello???

Apparently, this is one of the few places near Fenway offering food after a long baseball game. We searched high and low for some dinner at 10pm after Friday night's game. Most every other restaurant/bar we passed stopped serving food at 10pm. Which was very disappointing. We found Bar Louie a little further up the street. Big sign that says the kitchen is open until 1pm. JACKPOT!! Billy and I each ordered burgers and my parents had Mac'n'Cheese. My burger was excellent and came with loaded tots. They also had Angry Orchard on tap, so I was a happy customer. The place wasn't packed, mostly people like us, starving after a long night at the stadium. Cost was decent, food was good, service was on point. I can't complain one bit.

I can't really give this place a fair review because I only had one drink here. Having said that, I really liked the look of the bar itself, the wide variety of premium liquor and the option of open air seating.

I'll give Bar Louie 3 stars, because I have been here a few times with few issues. The service is usually okay and the food is nothing to rave about. It's in a great location, so it's a good spot to stop and grab some drinks and appetizers with friends. I'll definitely stop by again, because I haven't had any terrible experiences here, but there are definitely other places in the area that I would recommend before Bar Louie.

Not great food and It took far too long to get our food when there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. We ordered the calamari - below average and was cold also got the seared tuna sandwich which was bland.

Came here for a pre-interview dinner. Sat near the bar. Waitresses were courteous and were always around. Beer list wasn't too impressive. They have alot of the usual stuff. Blueberry wheat beer - Light, flavorful beer. Apparently a popular one because I had the last of it around 9pm. Appetizers - 1) Buffalo wing bites - spicy, a bit dry, nothing special 2) Spinach dip - chips were good, dip was average 3) Bruchetta - good! The bread was crunchy and cheesy. They give plenty of dip and overall was refreshing. Louie Burger - Big patty, spicy due to jalapenos, overall delicious. The fries were surprisingly good. They had little salt, was crunchy, and had good taste. Overall, the food was average bar food. I would try other places to eat but to grab a quick beer and watch sports, I'd stop by again.

If it were possible to give zero stars I would. The place was not crowded so we were able to sit ourselves, which was nice. Unfortunately, that was the only pleasant part of the whole night. We waited about 10 minutes for a waitress to see us and ordered a water and diet coke that took another 10 minutes to come. We then ordered apps and dinner. The apps and dinner both came out at the same time about an hour later. That is the last time I will step foot in this place.

We got to the restaurant at 6:15 and found (our own) seats. Got our drinks and an app within about 15 min of sitting down, ordered dinner around 6:30. When our food hadn't come out by 7:45, we asked for the check and left without eating. There was a half hearted apology from the stressed-out waitress and the promise that "your order is up next" for the last 30 minutes that we had been waiting. Now I'm not usually impatient, but we specifically got there early so we could make it to an 8pm show at HOB. Apparently from these other reviews, we should have known that sandwiches take 2 hours to prepare at this establishment. No manager to be found, we saw multiple tables get up and leave. Just to add another aggravation to the whole ordeal, they charge $11 for a vodka tonic. Ugh. Oh and the reason they gave for the ridiculous wait? "House of Blues didn't tell us that there would be a show tonight so we weren't prepared". I got these tickets in December and anyone with an Internet connection could have looked at the event schedule. I hope the management reads these reviews, it is sad that they are still in business. Anyway, we had a great time at the show ($7 V&T) and (finally) ate some awesome nachos afterwards at Game On (prompt and friendly service there).

This restaurant/bar is very average. It's convenient if you're going to a game or a show around there. I do love the atmosphere - my friends and I sat on a booth and they had the windows wide open for light and air to come through. There's a huge bar in front right when you enter. Since my friends and I had a lot of free time to kill before our show, we were in no rush. But our waitress was too comfortable with leaving our tables rather quickly. We asked for water - she walks away and brings it to the table. We asked for an appetizer - she walks away and brings it to the table. We asked for drinks - she walks away and brings it to the table. Repetitive, I know. Finally, we asked for our entrees and I started to realize how much time we were spending there. She was super friendly though. I just found it odd she didn't take our drink/appetizer order first and then a second visit for the entree? That's the standard I believe. Their calamari was perfectly cooked and tasty. I got a chicken sandwich with fries and it was OK. My chicken was on the greasy side and the fries were a bit cold. My friends both got salads and they were huge plates. They tasted delicious but they received a tiny amount of chicken for an additional charge of $4 each! We ordered a sangria and it just looked like water, there was hardly any alcohol in it but delicious nonetheless. As you can see, we weren't so impressed by their dishes and service but it could have been worst. If I'm in the area, I would consider coming back but I'd try completely different dishes.

Poor service, slow, not very kind waitress. Food is mediocre as well. Would have given 1 star if the drinks weren't good. Don't recommend it.

Not sure why this place doesn't get great reviews...we loved it! We went to Bar Louie before the game to catch some dinner and it was delish! We did not have to wait for a table and our server was very attentive. We started out with homemade Sangria and that was the perfect starter on a hot day. I had the chicken parm sliders and hubby ordered a burger. Everything came out perfectly timed and cooked. All and all great place to catch dinner and drinks before the game. Prices were very reasonable as well!

"Meh" is the perfect word to describe the food and drink at Bar Louie. They tout martinis and cocktails to be their specialty, but they're just ok. Their new old fashioned just tasted like a shot of vodka and gin, and the peach bellini was almost sickeningly sweet. Tater tots are decent flavor-wise, but the cheese sauce is a thin oily mixture. Pretty disappointing burgers, but surprisingly tasty sandwiches. My California chicken club was delicious. Have always had nice attentive waitresses, though I've never been there when it's been overly crowded. Honestly, if you're looking for some good food and drink in the immediate vicinity, better go just across the street to Yard House.

    (3)
  • Francis E.

Stopped by here before the Sox game because the Yard House line was unbelievably long. The happy hour boneless chicken wings tasted like they were under a heating element for hours; seriously took only 5 minutes to receive my order. A couple bartenders paid more attention to their phones vice the customers. If I could do it over again, I'd rather wait in the line for Yard House where customer service and food are on point vice returning to Bar Louie.

    (1)
  • Janet H.

I don't know why Bar Louie is 2.5 stars. I came here on St. Patty's day and had awesome green beer. The place was pretty empty when I came, which I like. This restaurant really reminds me of BJ's or Yard House. Food comes in generous portions and delicious, too! Really no complaints... and our server was great! I would come back.

    (4)
  • Alexandra M.

Everyone said it: good drinks, horrible service. I got the Pink Lightening and The Peruvian, didn't like the first one too much as I thought it was bland. Another girl had come before and got the same drink and it was completely different. So its hit or miss. We wondered where our service was more than a few times....didn't see anyone, not even just our server. I guess it's better by the bar. And she split water all over an empty table. I had the tempura shrimp which was really good--the sauce was just over the top spicy...so perfect :)

  • Lillian C.

Another restaurant with bar place just opened in Fenway and it's right by Yardhouse... Hmmm competition? The only other Bar Louie I've ever been has been in California and the set up is pretty much the same. There's your usual bar food- burgers, sandwiches, flatbreads, and of course... DRINKS. I guess how they're differentiating from Yardhouse is that they're focusing on Martinis and cocktails instead of beers. I need to come try more of their food before I can give a better review... Apparently they have Happy Hour specials: 1/2 priced selected appetizers and flatbreads Mon-Fri 4-7pm!

  • Nancy K.

We always get treated really well here. The waitstaff are pleasant and attentive. The beer is fresh and cold. The dining area and restrooms are super clean. The one funny little thing is that something usually goes a bit awry with our order. Tonight, for example, my husband ordered a burger with mushrooms and onions. A burger with guacamole and jalapeños was delivered to the table instead. I urged him to say something, but he said it was good and ate it. I ordered some fries. They came very undercooked at the end of the meal. The server delivered them all apologies for their arriving late, and said she'd taken them off the bill. At that point, I certainly wasn't going to complain about them being raw. I was already pretty full; my eyes were bigger than my stomach in ordering. In terms of overall experience, this place outpaces its Kenmore competitors in quality of food and customer service.

Went there before a Red Sox afternoon game. Waitress was not friendly and seemed upset with us for not ordering alcohol..Service was slow and took forever to get the check.. She rudely asked if we got some money for her...we left it on the table and will never go back..Big disappointment

  • Jeff C.

Had high expectations upon entering - should have realized the place was empty for a reason (at 12/30pm on a Thursday). Waited over 20 minutes for food that was very over cooked, waited over 15 minutes for the replacement which was only slightly over cooked. I really wanted to like Bar Louie. Bartender Sue was great (4 stars for her).

Cold beer. Service was awful. Bartender was miserable and paid no attention to us. Didn't even get a chance to order food.

Worst dining experience ever. Service was slow and basically non existent, our drinks were not what we ordered, beer had ice in it, chicken and burger were both basically raw, our app never even came, there was a random tater tott in a taco... The list goes on! We asked to speak with the manager. He gave us some free app coupons but then reminded us to "tip the waitress" and was really unclear about what we were still expected to pay for. Just don't eat here. Its worth the wait at Yard House down the street.

Worst place I ever had at Fenway, we waited for our food for like 30 mins, no one came to our table when we here, the waitress here are so irresponsible, no wonder it's rated at 2.5 stars.

    (2)
  • Melissa B.

I've been here multiple times and the service is consistently bad. It doesn't matter if the place is packed with half a dozen waitresses or empty with just a waitress and a bartender. I've seated myself at a table (they don't have a hostess) and had four waitresses walk right by my table without even offering me water or saying someone will be with us. And when it's empty, the wait staff disappears out back and barely checks on you. It shouldn't take close to two hours from seating to check for four lunch entrees and a few drinks. The food is alright - nothing amazing but definitely not bad.

I decided to give this place another whirl as I live in the area. I must admit -- it appears as though they took some of these posts seriously. I went back with a couple of friends and saw the side of Bar Louie I knew it could be. Our waitress was top notch. She was kind, funny, professional & attentive. If all of the other staff follow her lead Bar Louie will be super competitive in the area with similar establishments. Give this place a try, at least for their salmon sliders & S'more Martinis!

I'm a fan of this new Bar Louie location. It's down the street from work for me so perfect for happy hour. Really good mixed drinks, the Diva and Coconut Mint Lemonade are my favorites. Love the food here and the service has been good, even when we had a larger group last night. Looking forward to making this a new hangout

Went to the Sox game and we were looking for a place to get a drink and dinner beforehand. It is a seat yourself place but I thought the service was timely based on the fact there was a sold out MLB game across the street. My fiance got a burger and I got the crispy calamari and the verde chicken flatbread. The appetizer(s) came at the same time as our meals. The burger was great but the rest of the food is where I have a HUGE problem. The center of the flatbread was RAW dough. I asked the waitress if they could just put it back in a little longer but she insisted on just making a new one. In the meantime I tried the calamari and it was flavorless, gummy, and obviously frozen and immediately thrown in the frier. It was served with what I'm guessing was Great Value cocktail sauce. The bottom of the basket was loaded with shredded lettuce which made it look like their was more food than there really was. I'm fine with that because I really didn't want to eat any more. My replacement flatbread came out promptly but IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. Either extremely cheap dough or undercooked. This experience will prevent me from ever ordering food in any Bar Louie again.

We had a great time and Meredith our waitress was awesome! We tried to get into another restaurant before a Red Sox game and there was a 45 min wait, so we walked by this place and it looked pretty cool no wait! My hubby got the classic mojito and I got the Louie Sangria and both drinks were awesome. We ordered the Hummus, Tapenade & Tzatziki appetizers which we both highly recommend. I ordered the Roasted Vegetable Flatbread which was ok, but not great, I told the waitress and she was how you would hope a great waitress would be, said she would remove it from the bill and get me something else. I ordered the Grilled Veggie Wrap; however, since it got really busy and she came back and she thought it was going to take a while, I had told her how much I loved the hummus and was debating what to get before so she said that if I got the hummus for my meal too it would come right out, so she did just that, It was just as delicious the 2nd time LOL. My hubby go the Panko Cod Skewers which were REALLY delicious, it came with shrimp fried rice which was ok but not great, the shrimp needed more seasoning. The Tennessee Whiskey Cake was absolutely delicious! I wanted to like the plate, LOL! All in All we had a great time and the prices are great for that area as well! The service was 5 stars and we would definitely go back!

My friends and I decided to try this place out before going to the sox game. We were told to sit anywhere we want so we sat in a booth in a corner but there were still plenty of people and servers around. We sat there for 20 minutes and not once did a server come up to us. Though one came to the booth to our left several times. So we left with plenty of money in our wallets and empty stomachs. Eating is over rated anyways. If they're going to have a sit anywhere policy then maybe they should make sure they have servers that can pay attention to where people are sitting or can handle the load. Needless to say, there's very little chance I'll be coming back since I'm not fond of restaurants that seem to ignore customers. If that's your thing then by all means check it out. You won't de disappointed in that aspect.

I will never be returning to this restaurant again! Came here yesterday at 6:30 before the Red Sox game, which was at 8. It was busy but not packed by any means. Sat down and ordered food (all appetizers) and drinks at the same time so we had plenty of time to eat before the game, so we thought. The drinks took 20 minutes and after we got them the waitress said our food would be right out so we asked for the check, knowing things were slow. The check came 15 minutes later and still no food. At 7:50 I told one waitress to take the food off our bill and we were leaving! She never came back with our credit cards and at 8:10 a different waitress came out with our food.. Calamari was cold, and right away she said she would take this off your bill. In my mind I had already said we didn't want the food and to take it off our bill so I thought that was clear we weren't paying for it! Then the nachos came out AFTER all this and they had more cilantro on them then cheese. Is was a disgusting disaster! Finally the waitress shows back up with our bill and had only comped the calamari and split the total on our cards.... I was so angry and late for the game I didn't even ask the waitress to get the manager because it would of taken up even more of my time! So I paid the 100$ bill and left. Worst restaurant experience ever.

My friend and I went for lunch at bar Louie here in the Fenway. The music and ambience is good our waitress Kali was really made the experience special. She made great recommendations they were all homerun. She was nice enough to make a fresh batch of coffee for my friend and I. I'll definitely be back when I entertain clients.

If we're being honest... Food was nasty. Service was poor. Music was way too loud..... And we were LITERALLY the only people in the restaurant - I say keep walking and find another restaurant.

Cool place to hang out but there aren't much vegetarian options. I've had the portabella burger and the roasted vegetable flatbread. The burger with tater tots was fantastic while the flatbread was a little skimpy to me. I was not very fond of the avocado fries or the cocktail I got (Angry Sailor) but there are plenty more drinks to try!

If you want to see how to totally waste an amazing space, then look no further. Bar Louie does not deserve to be called a bar. I haven't had the pleasure of dining here, but if the food is anywhere as thoughtfully put together as the drinks, then I'd stay far, far away. I'd chalk it up to a poor drink choice on my part, but every single martini our table ordered was god awful. We know because we all tried each other's. Take that, cooties. They use tons of artificial sweeteners in everything, and very little booze (unless you get the Rat Pack, which is basically a martini glass full of ethanol). If you're still in that Long Island phase of your life (yeah, we've all been there), then this place might be up your alley. Otherwise, it just gave me gag reflexes and sugary memories of nights gone wrong. Our table actually ended up mixing our drinks together to see if it would improve the quality. And it did. That's how bad it is. If you come here, stick to beer, and never fear. Don't waste $10+ on margarita mix with a dash of 80 proof... ...or just go to Yardhouse, or any number of alternative places in Fenway that can give you a reliable brewski and good times. Try again, Louie!

Came for a couple beers and some apps. Food was just ok. Chicken Parmesan sliders were awful. The meatballs were even worse. Really nothing special in the food dept. Bartenders were helpful and friendly. Nice beer selection.

The food at Bar Louie is okay, but the area they are in has many better options. They do have a good selection and carry available. Unfortunately, portion sizes are very small on some items, including entree salads. That makes this place not worth the price point you pay. Additionally, on a lunch trip there the service was exceptionally slow.

Love their burger sliders and their dessert whiskey cake! They have hot waitresses there! Lol!

I don't really like this place too much, I've been here twice and my opinion hasn't changed much. It's overly expensive and the food is dry, not at all appetizing. The first time I went I got chicken nachos and it was good. The second time, I got the shrimp tempura which was gross, and the voodoo chicken wasn't too bad. I don't plan to ever come back here, I hate the concept of having to seat yourself because you're then ignored for 15 minutes until someone feels like waiting on you

    (2)
  • Lisa W.

Fun!!!! Great wait staff. Excellent fish and chips!!! Go here instead of waiting in line for the overpriced places you hear about near the park. Or the tourist traps like Cheers. I'm glad we did. Oh, don't get the nachos unless you like velveeta.

I'm Fan of this Place specially the One in Foxbourough,But the one In fenway The Service is Very SloooooooooooooooooW,Long Bar and Only 2 Bartenders so you Need To wait everytime to order a drink or food from the bar.

The place has a good beer selection and the mixed drinks are tasty. The food is a bit above average. Only problem is that they tend to run out of items. The service for the most part is good. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is good. Music is present, but not so loud that you cannot carry on a conversation. Give it a shot!

This is for lunch only. I work down the street and this is a very convenient lunch location. Service was great on a recent Tuesday (the restaurant was basically empty) and my Chop Chop salad was flavorful and large. The rest of the food looked good too. No complaints here!

As an eating establishment? Not so great. My husband was served a chicken sandwich that was missing the chicken. And no one seemed to notice or care. He basically spent $9 for a grilled cheese and left still hungry. But, the bartenders were friendly and quick with the refills, so at least the bar aspect seems to be working for them... I was there on a quiet Friday night. The seats around the bar were pretty full, but not so much the tables. I honestly expected it to be a lot more crowded, a la Yard House across the street, but I guess the news about this place hasn't spread yet? I'd be back, for a drink, but I wouldn't ever considering ordering food.

We stopped in after a Sox game to grab a drink and some food. Looks like a nice, clean place and the prices a were reasonable. Well, something is obviously going wrong in the kitchen because everyone in our party that ate chicken ended up sick all night long. We all agreed while eating our sandwiches that it wasn't awesome but we were starving so continued to eat. The "tots" that came with the sandwiches were cold and chewy as well and the drinks were just ok. First & last time I ever eat here.

Extremely slow service. Do not patronize this place for large groups at lunch. 12 people. Reservations and table set up in advance. Entire group arrived on time and ordered by 12:20. Food started arriving at around 12:55. 1 server made several trips over a 5 minute period. All in all darn inefficient and not crowded at all. With decent service the food is maybe 2.5-3 stars. Very average. Frequent patron at the bar. Will stick to that from now on. As a follow-up, the manager sent the bar tender over with his card and to explain they are "down a chef" today and apologize for they delay. We were left with his card and a suggestion that we call in advance if we know what we want to order. Thanks. I'll stick to Longhorn for lunch.

Ate here late night after a Red Sox game on a Fri night. Not many places serving food after 11 or 12 pm, but this is one of them...full menu too! Excellent food!!!!!! I will definitely be back!

Now we went here before a concert and were expecting average food, average service, average drinks. That is what we got. You know anywhere near Fenway could be a mad house. The server was young and not trained well but she put up with us, which says a lot. We ordered various appetizers and they were all very good. We had several of the specialty drinks and were also pleased. Definitely a great spot before going to Fenway!

  • Amy K.

The food, eh pretty basic... The service - terrifying. Our server came over asked what we wanted - we ordered a bottle of white wine. And apps were to follow. She brings the bottle of wine and like most cheaper whites it's a screw off. She literally lightly opens the bottle, not even so the cap is fully off. Sets it back on the table and walks away. We all look at each other wondering maybe she forgot something so she ran to grab it and was coming back. So a few minutes pass and were now clear that she isn't coming back. So we open the bottle of wine and pour our glasses ourselves. Kennedy I don't know where you learned to serve... But everything about my experience here tonight will never bring me back. I've served for years so I appreciate a good server. You can make tons of money doing it with passion. There's no need for servers in this business giving the other servers who probably work hard at this restaurant a bad name. I wish management really took notice of these things. It's just not fair for the others who work there that can provide another experience. Any who, not recommended to go here. Great waste of a great location.

I want to love this place. Our neighborhood needs good restaurant for lunch and dinner for business people. But this place really struggles. The service is unreliable at best and completely disorganized at worse. And it's never busy at lunch so how can it be this bad? The last three times I've been in I've had to send either my water or wine glass back because they are dirty. Had to send lunch back today because it tasted funky. No apology and not so much as a complimentary glass of iced tea. Come on management get on it!!

This review is for the bar only. It is a huge bar in a U shape that must fit over 20 people. We ordered Manhattans and Gin & Tonics, both of which were well made. The bartenders were attentive. The place was a bit empty so the ambiance was more quiet than I like. I will give this place another try to see how it is when busy.

Place is a strong 0 give it a one because of the highly priced alcohol to cover the sheer boredom they carded my 78 yr old grandfather who was wounded in Vietnam which gave him a reason to speak I guess!!! GARBAGE TRASH;\ nice ppl but not everything heard is a harp so hope the BFI dumpsters are filled with tht place asap as soon as possible!!

I really don't understand why the reviews are so low. A few friends and I went here last weekend and really enjoyed our experience. Not only was the waitress great, but the food and drinks were FANTASTIC! I had the chicken verde flatbread, and fell in love. Definitely recommend!

I am appalled by this place. I've been to a few other Bar Louies before and they have all been respectable, but this is one of the worst experiences I have had at a bar in Boston. My reasons are below: 1. A bartender dropped a stainless steel shot measurer on the floor, picked it up, and placed it back on the bar to be used again without putting it through the dishwasher. 2. A bar back brought an open Bud Light bottle to whom I assume is the manager and said "This is still cold and full". The manager said "place it back in the cooler". 3. They were heavily over-staffed that night due to the Red Sox game. The bar wasn't crowded (i.e. still seats available at the bar); however, all the workers were standing around one end of the bar obnoxiously flirting with one another and hardly paid any attention to the patrons at the bar or tables. These I witnessed first-hand within an hour of sitting at the bar. It's really a disappointment as I was really looking forward to a Bar Louie opening in Fenway. I will not be returning.

When you go here, ask for Holly or Jessie. They're friendly, nice and fast with the drinks! The bar has lots of seating, and the chalk drawings are amazing to look at (detailed and relevant!). The food is good (ask for the truffle popcorn - secret menu item)

Attended a large pre-interview dinner here on a Thursday night. Appetizers were plentiful (nachos, fries, other finger foods) and of average quality. I got a salad with brie and nuts on it, which was decent and about the right portion size. Service was polite but definitely had problems getting all the food out in the timely fashion. I was at the first table of ~6 and by the time the last table (out of 5-6 tables) got served, we had been finished eating for like 15 minutes. Good location next to Fenway, but if I were looking for a place to eat again with some geographic leeway nearby, I'd choose another place.

    (3)
  • Boris L.

I've been here 3 times now and I will be back again. The beer selection is great, they have a lot on draft and the appetizer menu is pretty extensive. The service has been good every time I've been as well. There's nothing particularly memorable about this place, but the prices are moderate and it's a nice place to hang out with friends for drinks and a bite to eat

I have been to several Bar Louie's in the Orlando/Tampa area and always had a great time, but my experiences both times I have been to the Bar Louie in Fenway have been completely disappointing. The first time I went was after a concert at House of Blues and there were maybe 20 people in the whole place and 4-5 bartenders working. I sat with my credit card in my hand for 10 minutes trying to pay my tab while all of the bartenders avoided eye contact with the customers and stood down at the far end of the bar chatting with each other instead of helping the thirsty patrons. The second time I went was this past weekend hoping to watch game 3 of the World Series. When my friends and I got into line there were only about 10 people in front of us. By the time we finally decided to leave 45 minutes later there were at least 20 people in front of us as people had cut the line and they had not let a single person into the bar in that 45 minute period. We had friends inside the bar that said it wasn't very crowded and other people in line were complaining because their friends had reserved tables and were sitting at the tables all alone because the bouncer wouldn't let them in. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be giving this Bar Louie a shot again anytime soon. Maybe they just need to work out the kinks since its a fairly new bar/restaurant, but I'll give them a while to do that before I try this place again.

We ended up at this place because Yard House had a fire alarm and we couldn't eat there. Needless to say, it was gross. Service was terrible, they rushed us out of our seat. I would only come here if I was very drunk.

Went here last night after the Sox game for a quick bite to eat and was thoroughly disappointed. The first time my boyfriend and I came here a few months ago the place was jam packed and not a seat in the house was available so we just stood by the bar for drinks. This time the place was nearly empty so we grabbed two seats at the bar. The bartender got us our beers and asked for our food order - All 3 items that we attempted to order were apparently sold out. So I settled on the Short Rib Sliders that she raved about - Needless to say they were so over cooked that I couldn't even chew it so I sent it back. If you knew me, I NEVER send food back. Even after a few beers I usually just eat whatever is in front of me, but definitely not this time. She ended up sending out the Bruschetta instead as an apology and it came out in a giant martini-type glass where you had to spoon your own tomato onto the crostinis. I wish I could write more, but it was so just blahh that I can't even think of anything else to say. I did text my boyfriend this morning though with my decision that we won't ever be going here again - Next time Yard House it is.

Went to Bar Louie back in February for lunch. Decent sandwich and service. This time, not so much. Went in on a Monday night and there were about 7 tables of people in the giant restaurant. A waitress came over right away, we ordered, and then the waitress disappeared for what felt like an hour. Our app came out - mussels - and they looked like they'd been microwaved. None of the ingredients on the plate looked fresh. Gross. I got a caesar with shrimp. Pretty simple. They gave a lot of shrimp, which was great, but the salad was drowned in dressing. Husband got the tacos. They were small, missing the rice it said it was supposed to come with, and the beans were cold. We are not complainers, but he was hungry and needed more than just the tacos, so he asked them to reheat the beans. Waitress was fine but really didn't seem to care at all. Overall - food was equivalent to a chain. I'd rather go to Applebees cause at least I know what I'm getting myself into there. Wait staff and cooks didn't care at all. Not going back!

Loved it. It was insane before game 6 of the alcs yet we got the bartender's attention. Snagged a shared table and despite the insanity the waitress was great the food was better than expected given the huge crowd.... Will be back

Compared to the one in Foxborough (which I frequent at least twice a month with friends as I went to school in the area), this one is awful! Bad customer service, not the cleanest of bars, and it seemed like the staff was more interested in each other than the patrons. being one bar out of an array of many in the area, they are really going to have to step it up if they want to stay competitive in this area. To the facility manager: customer service is everything in this area. If you want the customers step it up because there are so many other options, and word of mouth is like water in this city!

  • Allison A.

Meh. I've certainly had much, much better. The establishment is nicely decorated, but the food was bland & the male bartender was a bit of a dick. I had pot stickers that tasted as though they'd been frozen & reheated. Perhaps they were just low quality, as they had a bit of a crunchy texture & were also kinda rubbery in the middle. Weird. Oh well...lots of other cool places in the area.

I was hesitant to try this place because of the bad reviews but I gave it a shot and all I can say is that this place seems to have done a 180 from what it used to be. The staff was super friendly and knowledgable- our bartender recommended cocktails from their list that we loved. The spinach dip was delicious and not so large that we needed a nap afterward. I'd definitely recommend going here and will be back.

Utterly disappointed. Our waitress was extremely slow, it took 20 minutes for her to over to take our drink order. We placed in a food order and decided we wanted an app. She didn't come back so we didn't bother. Our food took almost an hour to arrive...it was NOT busy!! We could tell the people at the tables next to us were getting fidgety as well. Almost an hour for 4 plates of food, 2 of which were salads and one burger. The waitress did not ask my friend how he wanted his burger cooked and when it was served, we could not tell what kind of meat it was made with. It was a patty that you would get at a cheap outdoor barbeque. She also did not ask which one of the side options any of use would like with our food. Drinks were subpar and my friend's drink was straight up horrible. The music was so loud it felt like we were eating dinner in a club. I don't think I will be coming back here anytime soon...

This is my second night eating here, it is right next door to my hotel. I had the Beer Braised Mussels with the Blackberry, Orange and Brie Salad. Both had a great flavor and actually was a good combination. The Service I had at the bar was very good as well. I came in today and tried The Clover Martini, it was recommended from the Trudy at the Bar and the Buffalo Flatbread. Again, the martini was not one I normally ordered but warn you, its a dangerous drink because it went down so smooth and the flatbread was great. This is a brand new place, but the service and cuisine is worth a try, only a block from Fenway Park.

Honestly, I don't get what everyone's problem with the service here is. I've been here a few times now, and each time, not only has the food been great, but everything we needed was given to us promptly. The hate is undeserved. This place is great.

I've had pulled pork sandwiches reach my rectum from my mouth faster than getting food on a Saturday night here. Took 40 minutes just to get PLATES for our appetizers. After an hour and a half we had 2 out of 3 appetizers. We're still sitting and waiting for dinner. In the time we've been waiting I've had the time to consider becoming diabetic, getting calf implants, and trying out for American Idol. If you want to be delirious like I am right now, please please come here on a Saturday night.

AMENDMENT: went here last night for drinks with coworkers for my birthday. Well, I experienced what other people have been talking about in other reviews. First we went to the bar to get drinks and it took about 20 minutes for the 4 of us who arrived together to each get a drink. It was NOT busy at 5:15pm. We moved to an area in the back where all 13 of us or so could sit together and our server was so RUDE. I took a phone call from my sister who was on her way and she didn't want to text and drive and the call happened at the same time the server was taking another drink order. As I tried to order, the server made a snide comment that I was on the phone and encouraged my friend to order over me. I get that being on the phone is obnoxious but it was a 15 second phone call to update my sis on our location. Keep your sass to yourself. Server then brings the drink to me, barks "HERE'S YOUR MASON DIXON" and proceeds to spill it on my arm and didn't apologize. Cute. My friend ordered the Pink Lightening that tasted like plastic and it was in a broken glass so she sent it back and the server still charged her for it. We had to say something for her to take it off the bill. Lousy service just sours an experience. Could have used less attitude and less eyeliner. Will think twice before going here again after work. As someone else mentioned, I'm surprised by the poor reviews. I work in the area and it's been a go-to place for after work drinks or work celebrations. I've eaten a few appetizers from the menu and it's...pub food. It's never going to be amazing and I don't expect it to be. What I love about the place is that it's never overly crowded (may be a draw back for the 20-something crowd but I like to go to a place where I can sit comfortably and not shout over gaggles of hormones raging with Bud Lite). Actual bar area is huge with friendly bartenders (Jenna was great on Xmas Eve). I drank beer and wine and skipped the cocktail list, although two people I was with ordered Manhattans and both said it was one of the best they'd ever had. Crowd is a bit older than what you'd find at other bars down the street. Best selling point for me.

I'm a little surprised at all the negative reviews. I went to Bar Louie for the first time on a Saturday night. My friend and I only got there at about 10.30PM so it wasn't packed. Service was great - we had a very attentive waitress who promptly took our orders, delivered the drinks to the table and cleared the glasses. Pity I didn't catch her name. The martinis here are pretty good - I got the Effen Good, The Dirty and the Grand Lemon Drop. I liked Effen Good the best, but that's just my taste. Lighting seems a little too dim. Look forward to trying the other martinis next time. Probably won't ever eat there.

I have never been to a place that inspired writing a review but bar Louie compelled me to do so. I have never experienced worse or more delayed service in my life. The waitress was completely incompetent and useless. After an hour and a half sitting, appetizers arrived. By 10pm, no dinner had arrived and the lame excuse was that the manager was "cooking" because of how busy they were, despite about 20 empty tables. This place is a joke and all the food is out of a can or fried. Avoid at all costs.

  • Steven M.

I had been to one in a different location along time ago and remembered it being a decent experience, but this place was a joke. Went on a Saturday evening for dinner with another person. The place is seat yourself. There is no sign, no hostess, nothing. Very odd to walk in and stand there not knowing that you have to walk around and try to find your own seats. How this can be a good system I have no idea. Waitress took about 25 minutes to bring one beer, and a cold app (hummus dip). Claimed the kitchen was really backed up and sorry for the wait. It wasn't that busy. Dinner was just ok, had a burger with underdone tots and a flatbread pizza. Hard to get waitress to come back for water refill. With so many other options in this area I would not come back to this place!!

  • Stef B.

Went yesterday right before the Red Spx rush. The service was prompt and friendly but the food was pretty bad. Calamari was chewy and greasy, the mac and cheese was gross-I swear it was out of a box Velveeta that had been sitting on a steam table and slopped onto a plate. The chicken nachos were stale and sloppy and the queso came from a can. Our server asked the mgr to comp the Mac and cheese which was fine, but not before he came to our table to tell my guest "well, that's a first, everyone else likes it. " I guess if your smashed and hungry at midnight that Mac and cheese might seem awesome! the big Belgian white was delicious-my guest drank it for dinner. Buyer beware: Bar Louie is a poorly disguised tourist trap.
