Authentic Mexican food at its best . Chilis rellenos are simply amazing !! I get the taco loco lunch special and a beef burrito with a side of chilis rellenos .A person with an inexperienced international palate might not appreciate the food , but I assure you this is how Mexican food should taste.

Not authentic. Twice I've been here and both times I was in the bathroom within 20 minutes of eating. I swear they use tomato sauce and not salsa!

It was suggested that I try this place from a colleague of mine, but the trip, unfortunately, wasn't worth it. I didn't care for the ambiance of the place (still had Cinco de Mayo stuff up, right next to a Christmas tree and the place looked very run down. As for the food, it was cold when I received it, didn't look good and didn't taste that great either. I from CA and used to traditional Mexican food and this just didn't seem that traditional to me, what a bummer!! I didn't try any of the drinks, so I can't comment on those. Seriously doubt that I come back, unless there's a good reason to.

The Margaritas were good. The food looks risky.. Probably wouldn't eat here if I were u. If you want authentic Mexican food, go to Mexico.

This place is horrible! First of all the service was terrible. The tables were dirty and the restaurant had a terrible smell. There was only one person working out front. He would go in the back for long periods of time. He never checked on us during our meal and we needed things. The food was not even edible! My son (who loves nachos) wouldn't even touch the nachos. They don't put cheese on them; Instead it's a gross white sauce. I got the Texas fajita and didn't even eat it. The meat was over cooked. The rice tasted like it came out of a pre-cooked box, the guacamole wasn't real and was disgusting. The salsa is tomato sauce dumped out of a jar. We will never come back here.

I really wanted to like this place. Small dive hole in the wall Mexican places are usually the best. The chile rellenos were soggy and tasted like cream cheese... the tamale was ok... the shredded beef was great but the red sauce? I swear me and my dining companion both thought it was Chef Boyardee sauce from a can of beefaroni. I'm not exaggerating at all. Service was great/friendly/pleasant. Prices were great. Margaritas also great. I might go back to try something without the red sauce but it's gonna be awhile.

Meh. Vanilla Mexican food....VERY bland. I've ordered 'out' here before wanted to give them another try... inside. Nothing special. You want a guac salad? No problem. We'll throw some very processed guac on a handful of HEAD lettuce for you. We both agreed, the meals were tasteless. There's not even any hot sauce on the tables to jaz it up! The nacho 'Specialty' had NO TOMATOES OR CHILI's on it. Portions are VERY VERY SMALL.... No atmosphere. Tables were cleaned with WINDEX right next to dining customers... yuk. Music comes and goes. Waitress left us waiting a bit but was sweet. Half the lights are out. Should have stayed home this European gal can make better Mexican food.

I like this place. The food and drinks are crazy cheap. The drinks are tasty and do the trick. The food is not the best ever, but I still like it considering the prices. The staff is really friendly too. Decor is sorta cheap and tacky, but who cares? I'm paying for tacos and margaritas, not the stuff around me that I'll get too tipsy to even notice.

I'v never dine in this place but I love to call for take out whenever I'm hungry for some authentic Mexican food. I love to order "Pollo Fundido"! My oh so favorite dish. It is chicken with onions and bell peppers smothered in cheese sauce served with rice. I also have to order their guacamole on the side! That is a must. My boyfriend's favorite dish from there would be their Chicken Fajitas. Overall, if you're n the mood for Mexican food in Attleboro, this is probably a good place to go to if not the only place to go to that serves yummy Mexican food. By da way, I hear they serve good margaritas! Maybe you'll see me there drinking on one soon :)

All I cam say is yum! If you like authentic Mexican food this is the place. It's really small cute and quaint. It's def a go to when I'm in the mood for a good Margarita and burrito!

Food is cheap, fast and fresh. I really enjoyed it. It looks like your regular run of the mill Mexican joint - nothing fancy inside but that's not their thing.

Fantastic and authentic Mexican food! The complimentary warm chips and homemade salsa are delicious and will tide you over before you are served meaningful portions of freshly cooked Mexican cuisine. Everything I've ever off the menu has been delicious! My go-to plate is usually the Carnitas dinner which is braised, seasoned and sliced pork served with rice, beans, guacamole salad and freshly made, steaming hot tortillas. The pork is so tender and juicy! Overall the menu has many options and lots of ways to mix-and-match to fulfill all of your Mexican food needs. The refried beans are the best I've ever had, and even the simple Mexican rice is great. The margaritas are big and tasty. Big plus: you'll leave full and won't break the bank. Two people with drinks (alcoholic) and meals will be $25, give or take. Less if you are having soft drinks! The service is fast and friendly. Don't be turned off by the location with a very small lot and limited parking, or the unassuming and plain décor when you enter El Azteca, because the food will NOT disappoint. The place is always busy for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week and there are lots of regulars. It's Attleboro's best kept secret for sure!

Please stop! Get back in your car and just run away to your closest Taco Bell. I have never in my life tasted such horrific Mexican cuisine. I thought I was being punked. The waitress herself seemed weary. I think I need a tetnice shot!!! How this place has decent reviews is beyond my comprehension. If I could give negative stars I would.

Food - Great mexican food. Loved the shrimp fajitas. Portions are quite large. Service - Good service. Ambience - A regular diner kind of place. Cost -~$20 per pax with drinks.

The homemade chips and Salsa was smooth, The Burrito was boring, was mildly better then a burrito you would microwave yourself from a grocery store, there was literally nothing but meat inside the burrito. Taco was the same, lettuce with a sprinkle of cheese. The beef was cooked well and was very moist, However this is far from authentic Mexican food. If you like bland food this is the perfect place to go

  • Jackie M.

Great margaritas and they come in lots of sizes! (A medium is really big!) food is good and inexpensive. Atmosphere is like a diner, really casual. They cream their guacamole which is not the way I prefer it but food was great.

Good, cheap Mexican food. The margaritas are good, and the service is attentive. It's nice for a cheap night out.

Inside is old and smelled like bathroom disinfectant. However, food was pretty good if bland. Salsa was thin and watery with a bit of heat, but had a better flavor then the spicy sauce which tasted like water and hot sauce had been mixed together. I had 2 steak tacos on corn tortillas with a side of rice and beans. They were only $2.50 each and had the grilled steak with fresh chopped cilantro and onions- street tacos. Not much flavor in the steak, however. Cut up too small and thin. My BF had the burrito special which had a chicken burrito and a beef one, I think. He said it was pretty good. Rice just plain, not Mexican rice and refried beans- taste like it was poured out of a can, but not horrible. I would get take out in the future, but it's just not pleasant inside. The server was very nice but smelling disinfectant is really a deterrent for eating. It was strange too- on Yelp it said it was only open Mon-Fri, so I called as it was Sunday at 5 pm and they said they were open until 8:30 pm. Not a way to drive business to your door. Only the owners can adjust that online

El Azteca in North Attleboro is another one of those spots that you'll miss if you blink - and it's a restaurant that I've passed hundreds of times without noticing it. In short, notice it, stop in and enjoy some of the most authentic Mexican food around. El Azteca features a very comprehensive menu - one which deserves time to pore over. The staff anticipates this, and greets you at your table with warm, fresh tortilla chips and a very unique mild salsa. The salsa is thick, smooth and incredibly flavorful, and comes in a decanter. You'll want to save some for your entree...it's delicious! On my first visit, I was intrigued by the Pollo Fundido. It arrived mere moments after ordering, and it was phenomenal! Its flavor was not lost in its cheesiness, the peppers were still crisp, and the chicken was fresh and tender. Served with rice and beans, it was a filling and aromatic meal. I ordered the nachos and a taco on my second visit, and was not disappointed. I ordered this on purpose, to get rid of the idea of chain tacos and nachos, and both hit the spot. What struck me the most about these items, besides how fresh and delicious they were, and how quickly they arrived at our table, was the authenticity of the food. Both were served in true Mexican style - simply prepared, with a focus on the ingredients. I will go back to El Azteca again...and again. Incredible food, quick and friendly service, and great value for money.

It was not the greatest, service was good. I would pick Taco Bell over it. Just didn't do it for me

Really good Mexican for a a good price. Margaritas are huge and really good. Can't go wrong with the Chilaquiles or fajitas. Friendly people. Haven't found any better Mex in Mass in the 7 years I've lived here.

El Azteca is an old college favorite of my friends that really holds up to the hype time after time. Affordable, delicious, friendly, fast... just a solid restaurant. The chicken soup is a crowd favorite. Beers are $3 and you can order margaritas by the pitcher so you're never waiting long for a top off.

  • Ernest L.

I went here for Cinco de Mayo. It was really busy. After expectedly waiting about an hour (full of great margaritas and live outdoor mariachi music) we were seated. Food was phenomenal. The salsa is dispensed in a caraffe and chips were great. My shrimp fajitas were cooked just right and left me very adequately satisfied. I wished they had given me a tad less food so I could've finished it all. The decor looks like it could have been recycled from an old chinese restaurant.. Obviously, the food has to be great for people to look past this. All in all, great experience.

  • Robert M.

Mixed Bag... Margaritas are worth the trip. They are huge and proceed just right. The food is not Tex Mex, but your standard Mexican food. We had the chiliquilta and the chicken fajita quesadilla. Both were exceptional. My cautionary tail... Do not eat the quac or rice. I will return to this place because I believe that it was really good and the prices were great, there were some of us that got food poisoning from this place and I believe it was carried in the guacamole, so be careful.

  • Chris F.

Fast service! Authentic mexican food. Everything is not covered in cheese. Vegetarian friendly. Outside of the building is nothing to look at but the food is awesome! Wicked inexpensive!

  • Steph M.

I am a fan of this place but it's also close to my house (so maybe I am just thankful there's something to walk to?). I wouldn't judge this place by the food (it's mediocre) but by the MARGARITAS. They are very strong. And will get you drunk if you're not careful...

  • Amanda P.

This place is not somewhere you would expect to have pretty decent Mexican food but it was definetly a great find. Everything is extremely cheap. I think the last time my SO and I went there two meals with a margarita each only came to about $25.00. Their menu is vast, it's almost overwhelming. I find that I think I am getting something I have had before but it ends up being something entirely different. So a word of advice is if you like something and plan on having it again remember what it is. They serve chips and a pretty delicious salsa that is free to start your meal. Margarita's are big and always awesome. They also have a pretty spicy salsa they offer upon request for your meal. I wasn't a huge fan of the actual flavor but it adds a little heat to the dish. I think my only real gripe with this place is that I find their meat kind of bland. I think I would like to see something with more spices and flavor and that would really take it to the next level rather than relying on sauces for flavor.

I love coming here! It's my personal favorite Mexican food place to go to-- they have really good food at really good prices with really fast service! I love the tortilla chips and salsa you get right away almost as you're sitting down. I always have to order a margarita too-- and they're HUGE as well! Great inexpensive date night!

Eh, it's Mexican food in Massachusetts, how good do you expect it to be? Anyone giving it 4+ hasn't been to the SW Anyone giving it 2- doesn't value the quantity/price ratio This is a solid 3-star, half decent Mexican food & legit size meal for sub $10. Enjoy if that is your fancy.

  • Michael M.

Wow! I can't believe this place is in Attleboro! The building itself still looks like the typical Attleboro building, which is pretty crappy. We walked in and noticed it was pretty dead and we we're kind of afraid that a really bad meal was coming our way. The service was a little slow as we came in while they were watching a soccer game on tv. They have a ton of different magaritas for under $6 and they were really good and filled with tequila. The chicken dish that I had was also some of the best Mexican that we've had in some time. Honestly, I can barely say anything negative about this place besides the slow service. I would normal rate this place probably at 4.5 stars because of the service and the ugly building, but because of the great pricing there is no way that I can do anything less. 2 magaritas, 2 entrees and chips and salsa (free) for under $30, you can't beat that!

  • Tracy M.

Love this place! I have been going here for years and love all the dishes I have gotten. Just good Mexican food nothing fancy, but their meat is always tender and there food is fresh. The margaritas are excellent, if you like tequila , I highly recommend them. Friendly wait staff and very fast! Check this place out!!

    (5)
  • Nora H.

The margaritas were great and cheap. A pitcher for 20 bucks, but the food left alot to be desired. I think taco bell has more spice in their food. I think I'll stick to the providence when I'm in the mood for Mexican.

  • Carol Ann R.

This place was empty when we got there. There was complimentary chips and salsa while we waited and our food was ready pretty fast. We tried their veggie burritos, enchiladas and sopapillas... it was OK food - not the best but not the worst either.

  • Dani B.

This was a severely underwhelming experience. Quite a few Attleboro locals told me this was a great local place to check out so I was kind of excited. The service was fine, no real complaints there. The aesthetics of the restaurant were very simple and the plastic hanging flags definitely gave it a cheap feel, but it seemed pretty clean. The salsa had very little flavor but the chips were warm. The major downfall was that all the cheese used in my dish was quite obviously american cheese. As in sliced American cheese from the deli that you'd use to make a grilled cheese. Not what I am expecting, nor what I want, in my quesadilla or enchilada. The house made hot sauce was surprisingly not spicy, or even flavorful. While it wasn't the worst experience of my life, there was not one thing that made want to go back.

    (2)
  • Lizz W.

So cheap, HUGE portions! I have tried the empanadas, the burritos, tacos, margaritas and nachos and I have nothing bad to say about any of it! The building looks ghetto, but don't be scared to try it. It is delicious!

  • Richard S.

I had their tacos for take out, and it just fell apart when i took a bite. Just tasted like junk too. So im not sure about their other food, but i wouldnt recommend the tacos.

We found this place on yelp so decided to try it out. We were not disappointed. The food is great, authentic. Free chips and spicy salsa. It's a different ambiance than Rancho Chico in Plainville. This is more of a mom and pop place with a sketchy exterior. It's small with just a few tables - not great for huge groups. Good selection and specials. We've gone twice since we moved here and got takeout once. Prices very reasonable.

  • Leanne G.

There are many words I would use to describe Mexican food, and bland is not one of them. Kind of how there are many words I might use to describe El Azteca, and good is not one of them. We went here after seeing 4 stars/41 reviews, didn't actually see the several touting "authentic" Mexican food. Now that I have, I am even more lost... Chips and salsa were tasty, warm chips, fresh-tasting salsa... but after that things just got really bland, and, ironically, salty. I had the chicken mole enchiladas (bland and salty) and my husband had the fish tacos (just bland). I can honestly say I've enjoyed microwavable burritos sitting at my desk more that that meal, which was eaten in a peach room with red cheapo-pizzeria style tables/chairs and cardboard birthday-party sombreros hanging from the ceiling. I am sorry this may sound harsh because the service was friendly, and I do wish the place well if people are enjoying it, but I won't be going back again. The reason they get 2 stars and not 1: Decent service, and they do use Mexican cheese.

  • A D.

Pleasant staff, good simple food that we think of as Mexican when, in reality, the food eaten in any middle class Mexican home is quite varied and includes lots of vegetables and fruits. But this is actually, authentic, normal street food. The very mild salsa is for gringos but super spicy is available if you ask.

El azteca is a find. Its a small tucked away bldg, that maybe you would most likely pass on cause of the appearance. Dont pass it by. The inside is inviting, not from just the awesome staff but also the cool little bar and the giant margaritas. Then of course the food! The food is great. ive been here dozens of times and have tryed just about everything on the menu. I have yet to be dissapointed. My favorite dishes are the chicken fajitas and the el diablo shrimp. Fantastic!!! I could have at least 50 check ins here, if only I knew to do it. Now I do so im sure to be the duke soon enough!

  • Jennifer B.

I was really disappointed in this place after hearing some good things. The guacamole looked like it came out of a can. Seriously, I have had a lot of bad guac and I am not even sure this stuff has avocados in it. The food was just not very good.

  • Tim H.

Excellent Mexican food in a most unexpected place. You have to look for this restaurant so keep a sharp eye. When you eat there you will be glad you took the effort to find the place. The server greats you with warm tortillas and every entree I've had is great. Unbelievable prices and a quaint Mexican atmosphere. I will come back again and again.

  • Christopher C.

Place is cheap, quick and delicious. They serve more "typical" Mexican fair than your normal Tex-Mex restaurant and have a good selection (if you call that good) of Mexican beers: Tecate, Dos Equis, Pacifico, Modelo etc. They give you chips to munch on while you wait for your food to come out which is typically less than 10 minutes. The decor inside is nothing special but the prices and how quickly you can get lunch or dinner make up for it. Soccer is usually playing on the TV in the bar area. In Attleboro, it fits its clientele base well

Nothing fancy- cafeteria atmosphere- but good value for money. Food is quite tasty and service is good.

Okay, it's a tiny little hole in the wall and if you sneeze, blink or fart, you'll drive right by it, so keep your eye open. Parking is a premium, so you may have to hunt or park next door. That said, it's clean and a decent, faily authentic Mexican food at very cheap prices. Lets face it, Mexican is super hard to come by in NE and when you do find it, it's usually Southwestern food or Texican, not real Mexican cuisine. The chips and salsa are very good, as are the $5.50 grande margaritas. The food is good, not omg amazing, but considering the void of Mexican food in NE, it will surely satisfy your craving for some. Service was slooowww...but, it was a Saturday night and fairly crowded. I'm a fan of Mole and their mole was just about average, not stellar, but like I said, it's hard enough to find mole around here. My GF had the enchiladas and loved them, way more food than she could eat. I would definitely go here again.

  • Erin M.

It always amazes me how cheap this place is! $3 beers, $5-6 (big!) margaritas, huge portions... and all of it is deeeelish! I've only ever gotten the burrito/enchilada/rice and beans combo in the past, but this time I switched it up and got the chicken fajita. I'm not sure I can ever go back! It was a bit more expensive than the combos, but there was more food than I knew what to do with! It came with chicken, onions, and peppers sizzling away on a cast iron skillet, with steamy hot tortillas, guacamole salad, pico de gallo, rice, and beans on the side! I ate what I could and brought the rest home. The boyfriend was able to make an entire dinner for himself with the leftovers. My friend got a quesadilla, burrito, chalupa, and margarita. I got 2 Coronas with my fajita. Our check came to $30 for all that food and drink! Fantastic! The decor is pretty tacky, but the service is friendly and the food is cheap and delicious. I'm a big fan!

This is one of the best Mexican food establishments on Route 1. They would get 5 stars from me if they had traditional green chile! I couldn't find that on the menu.

  • Chris P.

I have never been to Mexico but I have eaten at a lot of local Mexican restaurants. And I am thrilled to have found this place. It's a small building, plastic tables, very unassuming inside. But the food is every bit the equal of (if not actually superior to)any other Mexican restaurant I have visited in New England. And the prices are so low it was actually startling, the first time I saw this menu. After my first visit to this place I returned once a week for a month and got something different each time. No disappointments here. This is all good stuff. I could eat here a lot. As one of the other reviewers already stated: this place is a find.

  • Dawn E.

Had I reviewed El Azteca two years ago, I'd have given them two stars... sure, the service was pretty friendly, but the salsa was bland and the food was uninspired. Well, this is NOT the El Azteca of two years ago... these folks have really stepped up their game. How to do you Azteca's Shrimp Quesadillas in Spanish? ¡Camarón delicioso estupendo! How do you refer to the fajitas? ¡Estos fajitas son realmente realmente buenos! And the giant margarita? ¡El margarita gigante es muy grande y muy fuerte y mismo ricos y muy excelente! (Thanks to Babelfish for the translations. Gracias a Babelfish por las traducciones.) MUY BUENO!

All Around Excellence! All menu items are freshly prepared and absolutely authentic. The salsa and gaucamole are so fresh I feel like it was prepared just as we walked in the door. The spices and ingredients are expertly blended and the result is a taste that is heavenly. This is the only place that serves refried beans that are fresh and flavourful and not a bland mound of paste on the plate. None of the menu items are greasy or heavy. They always surprise me by being light - each mouthful to be savoured. They do NOT use American cheese as was reported by another reviewer. Anyone who knows authentic Mexican food would know that they use a Mexican cheese called Queso Blanco. This is a mild white cheese. It is not the cheddar or jack which Americanized Mexican eateries use. El Azteca is impeccably clean and festively decorated. The service is friendly and fast, the wait staff have always been polite and helpful. If you like psuedo-Mexican food - go to Chili's or Taco Bell. If you want a taste of Mexico - this is the place to go. El Azteca serves up exceptionally fresh and flavourful authentic Mexican food. The service is consistantly warm and welcoming. These, along with the homey atmosphere of a small eatery in Mexico, are the reasons why my rating for El Azteca is five star. Highest recommendation for a pleasant experience and wonderful fare.

  • Eric F.

El Azteca is decent, faily authentic Mexican food at very cheap prices. The chips and salsa are great, as are the $5.50 massive margaritas. The food is only ok, nothing to write home about, but it will satisfy your craving for some Mexican food. Its a hole in the wall place with soccer playing 24/7, but that adds to the vibe of the place. Worth a visit if you are in the area, even if just for chips and salsa and some margs.

Great place. New favorite Mexican restaurant. The closest we've found to the little Mexican places we use to go to in AZ. Excellent chimichangas, burritos, good tacos Great margaritas. Great price.

My friends love coming to this restaurant, which is why I have been there as many times as I have. They love it. So, maybe you should take their word for it.... I, on the other hand, don't love it. I think it's good. Better than chain Mexican restaurants - but I also used to live in San Diego area where REAL Mexican food was plentiful, cheap and delicious. So, maybe I'm a harsher critic?!?!? My friends who grew up in N.E. think this place is stellar... so given that there aren't other great Mexican restaurants - this might be the best around. Their chips and salsa (free) - are good, but the salsa tastes too much like a can of tomato paste... to each their own - my friends think I'm crazy every time I say that... so, I've stopped saying it. Their portions are good. I will give them that. Their lunch burrito is good, green cheesy sauce, instead of the salsa you might expect. Good, not great. Their fajitas - you might as well order the dinner portion that comes with the fixings... otherwise, if you add on to the lunch order the sides you want - it will be more expensive than the dinner plate (been there, done that). Rellenos were my big let down. Not great. Wish that they would re-think their recipe. Sometimes the service is fast, and sometimes it is turtle paced, even with few in the restaurant. If you're looking for Mexican from somewhere other than a chain - you should try it out. If you are looking for GREAT Mexican... eh, this is only good.

Visited this restaurant for the first time today at lunch time. Pleasant service, chips and salsa came out immediately, lunch combo 4 (burrito, taco, rice and beans) was great. Factor in the reasonable price and the fact that my buddy paid, and I don't see how you could beat this place.

I went to lunch with my son at El Azteca. The building itself is easy to miss. It's located in a building with a liquor store. It's not a fancy place. However, we had a very good meal here and it was cheap! I had the chicken flautas which were very tasty. My son had something that resembled a taco, only it wasn't. We were both very pleased with our meal. The chips were fresh and the salsa was pretty decent. It was a smooth salsa, with just enough heat. The whole meal ran us $15. and some change. While you wont be impressing your date with this place's ambiance, the food is good. It's more the kinda place you go when you are craving Mexican and don't really care what the place looks like. It's just a little better looking than a taco cart. I will definitely go back to this place when I am looking for some Mexican, especially when I don't want to spend a ton of cash!

After recently moving to Attleboro, one of my first priorities food-wise was to find a nearby mexican place. Courtesy of reviews right here on Yelp, I was pointed to El Azteca. Not at all disappointed. This place was great. I think the people who are saying that this place is REALLY easy to miss are kinda exaggerating. I don't know my way around here very well and still saw it right away. It's directly across from a big Subway and the El Azteca sign stands by itself, pretty visible and high up. Just thought I would clarify since it seems like people really had a hard time finding the place. Anyway, we were seated right away. The place wasn't very busy, but it was kinda late (around 8) for a Tuesday night. We sat at the bar, and our server and bartender were very gracious and accomodating. We ordered a small pitcher of margaritas (9.95 for 1.5 good side margaritas each for myself and my roommate). I believe the bartender said the large pitcher ($19) had 2.5 margaritas each, but I could mistaken. Either way, the margaritas were deliciously tart and mixed really well. Was pretty good and tipsy after one and a half. Roommate and I each got a combination dinner plate. They had something like 20 combination dinners, as well as unique entrees and lots of appetizers. They brought us our chips right away - they were complimentary, warm, and came with a nice thin (slightly spicy) salsa. One small con - roommate ordered guacamole on the side for the chips and it was $3. Pretty expensive for a side of guac, you feel me? My entree (enchilada, beef burrito, taco) was hearty and delicious. It was a bit hard to tell the enchilada and burrito apart, but they were absolutely delicious. I was absolutely shocked at how fast the food came out, too. The vegetables were fresh, the ground beef tasted like pretty high quality for a $7 dinner plate, and the sauce was amazing. Overall there is really nothing all that bad to say about this place. Pros: Great food at great price (total dinner for two including margarita pitcher $29 before tip) Friendly staff, really fast service, good atmosphere - authentic mexican feel. Cons: $3 for a side of guacamole is way too expensive. And that's really about it.

To be honest, it has been some time since I have been to El Azteca, as I am not in that area often these days, but the place definitely left an impression on me! The food was delicious, the service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was delightful. Salsa and tortilla chips were served as we waiting for our food, and the salsa was amazing. If you enjoy authentic Mexican food, this is definitely a place worth visiting. I will have to make a point to head out that way again sometime soon.

Quick friendly service. Free warm tortilla chips and salsa. Great portion sizes for very fair prices. Delicious food. My girlfriend and I go at least a few times a year ourselves, Additionally everytime her relatives come to visit, they always suggest lunch at "El Azteca". The only warning I would give is, if you order the nachos, get cheese in a bowl on the side or your chips will be soggy. Other than that minor inconvienience, everything in this restaurant is great! Oh, also, If you're a wrestling fan (like me), you can go to Azteca on Saturday night, sit at the bar to enjoy a beer (I reccomend Negra Modelo, good stuff) and watch some mexican wrestling (those luchadores are INSANE!)

Went here on the recommendation of a friend. It was great, the portion were huge, I took home enough for dinner and lunch. I haven't been back only because I got lost going there but now that I have a GPS I might venture there sometime soon.

This place is MEXCELLENT! Great salsa, warmed and salty chips, tasty dishes with tons of various combinations. Very good margaritas as well. Super quick, good service, an interior that could probably use a makeover, but screw it, the food here is the differencemaker. Don't be turned off by the semi-shady area, the beany cheesy goodness that awaits you inside will be worth it.

Don't let the others fool you-- 'bland' is the last thing you'll find here. Delicious, fresh food in large quantities, fantastic drinks, great service (when they speak English, at least)-- how can you lose?

My sister and I started referring to El Azteca as "Ghetto Mexican" a few years ago, and the label has stuck. We mean it with the highest of compliments, though, because this place is amazing. The chips and salsa are awesome, and I always get the spicy melted cheese sauce as an appetizer. The portions are huge - $10 chicken fajitas easily serve 2, with an extra order of tortillas. The margaritas are similarly huge, quite potent, and amazingly cheap. If this place ever closes, I will be hearbroken.

Great authentic mexican food!!! You owe it to yourself to check this place out for fantastic mexican food if you are visiting the Outlets at Wrentham. Forget the chain restaurants nearby and put this restaurant's address in your GPS for the 8 mile drive. The restaurant is nothing to look at. Across the street from a Subway and next to a liquor store. The food taste like grandma is cooking in the back. The servers are very friendly and efficient. Excellent salsa and warm tortilla chips were served once we were seated. My wife and I had guacamole and chile rellenos for appetizer, chimicanga and Azteca t-bone steak plus an extra carnitas taco for entree, dessert and soda and our bill was $33. Ridiculous value!!! Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because of the guacamole. It tasted whipped and very airy. Not what I'm used to.

Best Mexican food outside of Mexico and its cheap too! Super friendly staff. I agree with some of the other comments that its in a weird location but don't let that deter you. You will not be disappointed. They had a second location in the center of Mansfield that but they closed within the past year.

Good, cheap, authentic Mexican food! What El Azteca serves is really good and cheap, too. And it's a lot nicer and bigger on the inside than I expected. On the menu, all the standard fare and then some. I haven't tried any margaritas yet.

The food is cheap and unexceptionable, except for the delicious salsa. The staff is great. The margaritas are the best part. El Azteca throws one hell of a Cinco de Mayo party! Get there early because half the town comes out for mariachi and margaritas in big plastic cups!

We went here after reading the mostly positive reviews and being in Attleboro that night. The tortilla chips were fine. The salsa was bland. We ordered 3 different dishes. The tacos were awful. Ground beef and cheese. That was it. The authentic food fared better but not much. It is cheap but I expected better flavor and service.

Pretty good food, and decent service. It's great how cheap the food and drinks are here! I didn't really find anything special on the menu to separate it from any other generic mexican place. Good if your in the are though.

This has to be my fav Mexican place around. The salsa is thin, spicy, and TASTY! Their homemade chips are great..and the food...holy snarkies. I love this place..and make it a point to go everytime that I can. They have a meal that comes on two plates...and is wonderful. And there's no way that I can eat it all.. And the margarita. I don't know who's behind that bar...but they have the magic hands. They are really good. Service is great,..food comes out fast...and they seems to love kids.

El Azteca is a hole-in-the wall with GIANT margaritas. However, I would go there more for the margaritas- I especially like the orange one- than the food. The Chile relleno and enchiladas were good, but the guacamole and nachos were not

Its a bit harder to find a good Mexican place on the East Coast than it is back home. But thats not to say that great Mexican places don't exist here. When I read in one of the Yelp reviews that this place was even better than the excellent Acapulco's, I was excited. Upon sitting down and opening the menu I was also excited to see some of the lowest sit-down restaurant prices I've seen in a long time (An advantage over back home I suppose). The food itself, while filling was a bit of a disappointment. American cheese in the quesadillas? Gross! An absolute mark of an inauthentic Mexican restaurant. The combo plate I got with a tamale, a chalupa, and chile relleno was drenched in three different kinds of red sauces so that the entrees themselves were barely visible. Not bad, but not good either. Basically, this place is fine for a cheap filling meal a notch above Taco Bell. For better and more authentic Mexican food, head to Acapulco's instead.

We took my Mom here for her birthday last weekend and I was completely unimpressed with the food. After reading all the great reviews I was so excited to treat her to some good mexican food and we left completely disappointed. The salsa, the very polite service and the affordable prices were the only good things here.

Good Mexican food. I was a customer for 6 years and they just kept getting better and better. It's not the best Mexican I've ever had, but it is quite good, especially for being in New England (which lacks any sort of Mexican flavor whatsoever). Everything on the menu is good (I've tried it all), but try the queso appetizer, steak fajitas, shrimp quesadilla, and strawberry margaritas. This restaurant in the best one of the three or so other El Azteca restaurants in the area.

Simply excellent. Please, do not let the exterior fool you. It is clean, warm and inviting inside. My family and I drive an hour to dine at this eatery - it is *that* good. And it is inexpensive, fresh and flavorful Mexican food, to boot.

We use to LOVE, LOVE this restaurant....we tried it again this week after having a disappointing meal there a few months ago (figured it was an off night)....still disappointed. The food was bland, and I ordered the house Special Buritto...couldn't eat it. WAY too salty and tough (beef tips). Won't be going back anytime soon. Sorry.

Love this place. Anytime we leave, my wife and I both agree we need to go more often. We invited out neighbors with us last time we went, and they were completely surprised to the place existed, as it is one of those buildings you drive by every day without giving it a second look. Also, the "El Azteca" vinyl banner tied to the front and year round come celebrate Cinco De Mayo banner makes it look like they didn't plan on staying open too long and/or is already shut down. But the food and service say differently. On top of this place, in my opinion, besting the quality of other local favorites like Acapulcos, your cannot beat the price. The food is dirt cheap, but again, does not reflect the taste. The beer and liquor is normal priced, and I'll just have to accept my wife's raving review of the margaritas as I'm a Dos Equis man. Our neighbors were very surprised and happy to learn about the hidden gem.

This place is a good bang-for-the-buck restaurant! They serve very great authentic Mexican dishes that are very diverse. If you're a fan of good Mexican food, this is the place for you. The free salsa and homemade nachos are flavorful, but not too spicy for those of you who don't prefer hot food.

Moved here from Texas 12 years ago and in that time we have found only one other Mexican restaurant that would make it back home. Don't go for the decor or ambience, just go for the food. The place reminds me of the Taqueria Arandas chain in Houston before they went anglo-corporate. Just good no-frills Mexican food. Like a previous poster has said, I also wasn't crazy about their salsa but that's no barometer. I've eaten in plenty of places where the salsa was the only edible item in the place. That night I strayed from my usual enchiladas and had the Bf Tamales. I wasn't disappointed. Big portion and very tasty. We didn't order drinks so I can't comment on that. We had the kids with us and the place seemed family friendly, not like a dark, "go for margaritas with the office bunch after work" kind of place. Our waiter was a real nice kid and the food didn't take forever. And to make a pleasant dining experience even better, the prices were extremely reasonable. We passed it by the first time. We saw the sign but the Liquor store next to it kind of hides it til you're right on top of it, and it doesn't exactly have the faux-cacti and sombrero curb presence you expect from a Mexican restaurant up here. I wish people reviewing this place would stop throwing around the word "Authentic" because it's not, here's the test, If they don't have goat on the menu it isn't authentic. But neither are most places in TX, AZ, NM or CA. but they are good at what they do and I hope they do well. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
