god goes here to eat wings. this is the ULTIMATE bar menu with traditional burgers, fries (gravy, cheese & more), super potato skins. My personal favorite is the boneless wings (DC-10) with honey mustard & BBQ. There is no bad flavor. The on-tap beer selection is abundant and there is nothing but sports playing on the TVs. the waitresses are hot (most go to school in the area) and make the place perfect. Go early on game day b/c it will be PACKED! They also deliver & the food is just as good. Get a 747, some fries and enjoy a full day of football!!

My mouth is watering as I'm thinking of what to write for this review. What more can I say that hasn't already been said? We tried the boneless wings in the Honey BBQ and something-garlic sauce. MMMM. The chicken was moist and juicy and absolutely drenched in flavor. DELICIOUS. Cajun waffle fries also good.

There is probably only two places right now in this area that is uniquely good when compared to other cities. The Hanger Wings is definately one of them.

I love to eat at this place. The wings are always way better eating there than getting takeout. Plus they have a larger menu for eating in. Great place to watch a game (although it is very busy during Boston sports games) Mon and Tuesdays 4-6 is all you can eat boneless for 6$ buffalo, honey bbq and honey mustard which is nice, but deadly

Great wings, terrible service. Be prepared to be ignored, with long waits at every stage. The restaurant is also crowded and noisy At Rafters, just up the road, the wings aren't as good but the service is better.

Pros: Good place to feed a lot of people cheaply. Lots of beers on tap. A few very nice waitresses. Domestics are cheap, $3 or so for a good sized Coors Light. Wings pretty tasty, lots of flavors. Salads good also. Cons: Noisy, gets packed on weekends. Lots of college kids in a small space. Many more apathetic, inattentive waitresses. Imports and craft beers are not a good deal. Dirty. Tiny, disgusting bathrooms. Know what you're getting into, and be in the right mood, and you will do OK. Don't heat up leftover boneless wings in the microwave, seeing the grease liquify in the way it will is really stomach turning.

A staple of any student in the Pioneer Valley - whether it's a late-night gathering of intoxicated students around a mound of sauce-drenched wings, or an all-you-can-eat outing to Hangar's. Fast and frequent delivery to the Five College area, you can guarantee that your wings will always be warm and savory! My favorite flavors are honey bbq and red-alert buffalo style.

OK so, the hangar pretty much has it all. IE cheap beer, delicious wings, and hot waitress's... I consider myself to be a bit of a nacho snob...not only are Hangar's nachos incredibly cheap, but they are the best darn nachos I've had on this side of the Mississippi. You can get them with chicken if you want although I consider that to be chicken overkill. Next up we have the wings...excellent quality, whats that you say??? You cant F up a wing??? wrong again my friend you can, and let me tell you, not only are the wings of good quality, but the sauces are the bomb. My personal favorites, are kicken', traditional buffalo (cruising altitude) and if you like a dry rub, mustang ranch ain't bad. Also, a good value. Wait staff are usually an attractive, bubbly bunch. You will know them when you see them, trust...These are known as the "A" squad. However the B and C squads are pretty dang good as well. Did I mention domestic beers are cheap? Well they are, and you can get a 24 oz frosted glass. OK so all in all, I think its apparent that I sweat the Hangar. As they in France, HAVE SOME FUD!

BEST wings I've ever had. My absolute favorite place in the 5 college area to eat. Great wings - both bone-in and boneless. Wonderful selection of sauces and dry rubs. If you're looking for hottttt wings? They got it. Not into heat? They have some flavorful options. It can get crowded, but it's honestly worth the wait.

An Amherst staple. If you go to UMass, Amherst, or Hampshire and you don't have 545-WING on speed-dial, then you are either a vegetarian or a fool. If you don't live in the Valley but you happen to be passing within 30 minutes of the Hangar and don't go there, then you are either a vegetarian or a fool. And if you are a vegetarian and don't make this your one exception, then you are a vegetarian AND a fool.

Best wings in Amherst! Love the food. Been coming here for 10+ years and I can say that the food has maintained flavor and quality. I hope this does not change. This is a popular spot and is usually crowded. The place is super casual (as in they leave a roll of paper towels on the tables for wiping the buffalo sauce and blue cheese etc.) We love the wings, tenders, burgers and waffle fries! The house salad was giant and crunchy. Service was always been decent and quick too.

Best wings in western MA period, I've been around lots of places in Boston and NY but this place beats them all, first of all the service is awesome and on time and second the portions are hUGe, we had to take 2 boxes home with us after, highly recommend to go with friends for a night out for some wings.

  • Jennifer T.

Be prepared to be overwhelmed with the number of flavor choices! Some of the flavors are sauces while others are dry rubs. You can also get your orders 1/2 one flavor and 1/2 another. We got a combination of regular chicken wings and the boneless, I definitely recommend the boneless! The nachos were great as well, and the chili comes in a bowl, so you dont have to worry about soggy nachos! The server was attentive given how crowded it was; however, the only thing that was frustrating is standing around for several minutes as people passed us waiting there, and nobody greeted us and told us whether or not to continue to wait to be seated or just find our own seats.

These are the best boneless wings. Come to this place and eat wings and drink beer.

Good wings. Got the typical sweat chilli which was the franks version, but I love the one. Also had the afterburner, good but did not really hit me to the next day! Ha I'll return

  • Thomas F.

I love the Hanger. The best wings are the boneless honey mustard, honey BBQ and the sweet chili. If you haven't gone to the Hanger, you should go there now. It's a bit expensive but the taste is amazing.

This is my favorite place to get wings (Red Alert). The beer selection is Fantastic too with many unusual brews on tap. This last time that I went they were doing a "Black Wednesday" special selection of Dark beers. I was a little bummed that they had just stouts and porters no Lagers on the list (say like a Märzen or Dunkel cause i'm into German Lagers), This just forced me to try something that I would normal have and I certainly enjoyed what I got (sorry i forgot the names). Personlly I enjoy trying new beers so this is my kind of place, if you can't deal with out Sam Adams then you should go to TGI Fridays or Applebees. Cheers

Came here on a tuesday to get the $6 all you can eat boneless chicken. SO GOOD and a great deal. However, they only had 3 flavors to choose from, mild buffalo, honey mustard and honey bbq(I think) none the less, it was good and the chicken kept getting replenished so it was very fresh. Since it was the special deal, the place was pretty full. And for a bar feel, it was pretty clean. We waited 5-10mins for a table, but it was not so bad. Once we were seated, our waitress was attentive and we started digging in. We also ordered a plate of cheese fries, "The Mess" which was topped with gravy and melted cheese and sour cream on the side. I think this is their take on the Canadian dish called pouttine (sp?) it was so good. after 3 full plated of chicken i was in chicken coma, but so full and it was awesome, I want to try to stop in a tues one more time before graduating!

Best wings, hands down. Whether you like boneless or with the bones in, I don't care. Just make sure you have it with the bleu cheese. Personally, my bleu cheese philosophy is - the chunkier, the better and The Hangar doesn't skimp on the chunk. Like it, love it, gotta have it. It puts bleu cheeses at other wing spots to shame, easily. Obvious flavor choices are honey bbq, honey mustard, and the 5 levels of Buffalo style. All great choices and the Buffalo sauces live up to their names unlike other places. However, I can't go to The Hangar without having mesquite wings with the bones in (always with the bone in - always). Their wings - boneless & bone in - are also really meaty too, none of that flimsy anorexic shit like at other wing spots. For a side, the mesquite waffle fries are a must. Best little morsel of potato to ever accompany a wing. Don't even think about not getting the processed nacho cheese either. Although you may question its bright yellow color and its not-so nutritional value, you will forget all about that once its in your mouth. Then, and only then, will you understand what I'm talking about. The restaurant is always super busy around dinner time and of course when there are games on. The wait can be pretty long too since it's not that big of a place but no fear, just come early to grab a table, otherwise you'll miss out on some pretty amazing wings.

  • Erika H.

I grew up in Western Mass and on The Hanger. They have ruined all other wings for me. Now living in CT I make a point of coming here whenever I can. The wings just don't compare to anyone else's. Get wings here... you will never forget them!

What can I say .. great prices . great food . great beer. Love their garlic parm wings and their chili cheese fries . Mmmmmm

  • Austin J. A.

You will wait for a long, long, long time before you are waited on, and a long, long, long time before you receive your food. If you are not a fan of a loud sports bar atmosphere, you may not enjoy your wait. They are always packed, which is what leads to the feeling of pandemonium. I strongly recommend calling in ahead of time for take-out, because the wings are just about the best wings ever in the history of ever. You shouldn't miss them. You might enjoy eating them in a timely fashion, in the joyful/peaceful atmosphere of your choice, rather than in the Hangar itself. I always get the garlic boneless wings, and I always feel like I should order seven or eight gallons of wings because they are that good (though I can barely finish even a large order alone).

    (3)
  • Michael L.

There is a reason the hanger had franchises popping up all over... The best wings you will find, albeit a little pricey for such simple food.

    (5)
  • Michael W.

Boneless wings are exceptional. Wide array of sauces, each tasty in their own right. I am a huge fan of honey mustard and honey BBQ. Most the time I order after a long night on the town; however, I have been inside a few times. It's not a fancy establishment but still offers a fun atmosphere. Cute employees and the age of the crowd tends to be younger.

Stop reading this and start driving to the Hangar.

  • Gregory P.

The best boneless wings I've ever had. The honey BBQ wings are fantastic. The atmosphere is college-student-ish, but no matter, I'll still be going here when I'm 92. I've been here about 8 times even though I live 100 miles away and didn't even go to Umass Amherst! I always choose between this place and Bub's BBQ in Sunderland when I'm in the area. If you like wings, you'll love this place. Buffalo Wild Wings pales in comparison.

    (5)
  • Kevin L.

Best place to get wings in Amherst. Honey mustard and garlic parm are must haves. If you go to UMass or live in Western Mass, you need to give these wings are try. I usually just get delivery. I gave Hangar 4 stars instead of 5 stars because the sports bar feel crowded and it is very dark. Buffalo Wild Wings has the better set up and I would go there to watch UFC fights.

On a rainy day many years after graduating from Umass we ended up here after an awesome tour of the campus for my son. The wings were so good he asked if we could go back to have them again. We live in South Florida! That should say it all. The boneless honey barbeque are the best. The waffle fries were great too.

They can put tables together to accommodate groups. Went with around 13 people. Some flat screen tvs so you can watch the game that is playing that night. They have a bar. The guy next table over was drunk and annoying the crap outta me. Kept turning around. I believe the girl next to him was his girlfriend who was ALSO drunk. Obnoxious. Don't talk to me please. We ordered a biiggg plate of wings, YUM, 4 flavors, i like honey mustard, garlic parm, we also got the spicy one..and then honey bbq. Also Waffle fries! DELICIOUS. I wasn't 21 yet so i had water. The plates they give you..are the ones we use at UMASS dining! HAHA. On another note, its pretty fast delievery and if they eff up and forget your drink, then they won't give you another one unless I guess you check your food right in front of the delivery guy. When you drink..get some wings! nomnomnom :)

Huge fan of the Hangar, but due to high volume forgets to put some TLC into the food.

  • D K.

Quintessential sports bar. Best boneless wings I've ever had, and the Nachos with Chilli second to none. Hangar is best enjoyed in groups. Order their wings, and get one of them towers of Budweiser. As a bonus, they have some pretty hot waitresses. Be warned that on the game nights, it is packed. Plan to arrive at least 1.5 hrs before the game begins.

  • Christian C.

This is what every man cave should be like: big ass flat screen TV's playing sports on every wall and a steady stream of cute girls bringing me plates heaping with some of the best buffalo wings I've had anywhere. I split an F-16 (15 wings) buffalo style with the Red Alert sauce with a buddy of mine. The sauce had just the right amount of heat to it and my friend said their blue cheese sauce was excellent. Beer choices left a little to be desired but on the bright side they did have Hoegaarden.

    (4)
  • Victoria S.

I have three words for you: "wings, wings, wings!" Although the boneless wings are not really wings, this place makes sure that you can get a variety of flavors on yours pick from wimpy to the cruising altitude on the hotness scale or be adventurous and go for a honey mustard, or garlic Parmesan wings that will sure satisfy every student's night cravings.

Hangar's is a pretty good place to get your beer and wings on. The place is rather typical with a bar and seating area. The beer selection on tap was very good. The day I went they were having some A/C problems which made the time spent there a bit on the uncomfortable side, but that kinda stuff happens so I won't take too much away from it. It is a Red Sox bar, which is good by me! The waitress we had was very friendly although not very knowledgeable about the beer selection, but she was under age, so, again, I'll let that slide. Finally, the wings were excellent, although they did something that I never really appreciate which is serve them in a "soup" of sauce. I like my wings mixed, but not mixed and then served in so much sauce it looks like someone threw up on my plate. The wings themselves were excellent (I had the Teriyaki Jerk) both in size and taste. with the lack of A/C and the pool of sauce, they get 4 out of 5 stars. I would definitely go back!

  • Rue B.

Boneless wings are not the traditional way, but I don't care. Not even a little bit. I can recognize the smell of delivery wings from at least a half mile away from whoever just ordered them. You will never have a tastier trashy meat coma. Besides buffalo fire death (scale of 1-5), the sauce selection keeps expanding year by year - about 20 now? Honey BBQ and Teriyaki are two classic standbys. So good that I've never gotten around to many of the others - e.g. Jamaican jerk, garlic parmesan, etc. Damn fine beer selection too, lots of local stuff from MA's best brewing region. Berkshire, Opa Opa, High & Mighty, Paper City, Wachusett - all here!

  • Johnny C.

Best WIngs in Amherst. If you want to catch a game with some friends, but you really want to catch the game, this is the place. No matter where you sit or stand you will have a big screen at your disposal. Good selection of beers. And the wings are *much* better than Rafters.

    (4)
  • Kara J.

Wings are good but extremely overpriced. One good thing they had when I used to go (not sure if they still do) is all you can eat wings on Mondays from 4-6 for about $6. I used to order Buffalo #3 every week when I lived in the dorms and then one time I went in and got it and it was absolutely disgusting... very very spicy and definitely not a number 3. When I complained to the waitress she said there was nothing she could do because she had ordered me a number 3, so sorry. Kinda rude....

  • Nick B.

My sister used to be a vegetarian. Then she became a vegetarian who ate chicken, but only if it came in the form of boneless wings from the hangar. And now she's a full fledged carnivore again. So the moral of the story is beware of those tasty wings that the hangar's dishing out. They're like the gateway drug of meats. Also, last time I checked they had Frank Zappa on the jukebox, so bonus points for that.

I miss the Hanger So Much. I was a Senior at UMASS when the Hanger opened and this place helped to re-find the Freshman 15 I worked so hard to lose. This place was my constant hang out and I miss it on a Daily basis. Pat and Harold, you guys are awesome, keep up the great work! Open another Hanger in Boston (not one of these franchised Wings Over Places, they are a poor substitute.)

  • Jenny N.

This is your typical college bar hangout with TVs and arcade games. However, the wings here are phenomenal. You can get them with or without bones (I prefer boneless), but they come in large orders smothered in the sauce of your choice (and there are many yummy flavors ranging from your regular hot wing sauce to honey mustard to teriyaki, etc...) If you order the nachos, they come on a GINORMOUS platter, so be prepared to eat!

    (5)
  • Josh K.

Great beers, great food, great staff. If you have 4-6 people, I recommend getting the nachos to start and split a Concorde of Honey Bar-B-Que, Buffalo Style Cruisin Altitude, Teriyaki, and West Texas Mesquite.

  • King M.

If you are ever looking for great wings this is the best place anywhere. Although it is small and the wait can be long (especially on all you can eat wings days) the place is amazing. The service is great and the food is even better. I would highly recommend the hanger!

    (5)
  • Chizlum M.

We were in Amherst for a conference and based on the reviews here on Yelp decided to check this place out. We were definitely not disappointed. The wings, both boned and not, were excellent. Nice beer selection and the staff was helpful.

  • Q S.

I love their wings, but apparently, they don't deliver to the Boulders anymore because there have been too many robberies of the driver's cars and/or people stealing their cars... (rumors say). I miss my honey BBQ wings!

  • Long N.

the wings and sauces is what this place is all about. the wraps and burgers are good though i'd just stick with the chicken. the delivery service is ridiculously fast and overall a good meal, especially late nights.

    (4)
  • Kevin C.

Some of the best boneless wings I have ever had, and the service and beer selection is top notch. You may have to wait but the wings are definitely worth the wait, especially the Honey BBQ. I have been to many Wings places in Boston and none of them can stand up to The Hangar, chalk one up for Western Mass over Eastern Mass.

    (4)
  • Amy A.

Oh the Hangar. Small, loud, dimly lit. Yet the best boneless wings I ever had and a must stop when I am in the area. The memories I have built here over the years are vast. I have friends from at least 5 states and 3 countries I have brought here over the years and my most recent guest was so sick of hearing me talk about it he almost refused to go. Then he tried the pulled pork potato skins (more like loaded baked potatoes in size) and smoked wings and was s believer. I believe the quote was the food is worth flying in for. He is not that clever, coincidence with the plane theme of The Hangar. I love this place. The food stays consistently great, the service stays quick and friendly, and even though the Yankees won last night, last night was still a great Hangar trip.

    (5)
  • Bryce A.

If you go to umass you have no reason to not go here. They have pretty much every flavor under the sun. For a college place, the beer prices are a little high. But they have good food for a pub scene. I always order my wings extra crispy, as I like crunch on my wings even after they are doused in sauce. If you are into spicy food, afterburner is the right amount of spice. Not as bad as I thought it wold be.

Best wings beer and ribs. I love this place out of this world. Great to get a few cold ones and hang out with friends.

Great wings and good mixed drinks and appetizers; the giant nachos are a must get for a large group (we couldn't even finish them). Always been crowded and loud when I've gone but thats just part of the atmosphere. The service has always been great.

This place is great! Drove past this spot Friday afternoon to get a quick bite to eat. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich w/ Fries. I was surprised when I was asked how hot do I want it. [scale 1-5 (5 being the hottest)] That's so awesome. I always order buffalo chicken sandwiches but never have I ever got asked how hot. I got a 4; and a 4 was definitely a 4. It was pretty freaking hot! This place also has MANY beers on tap. Pretty great. One thing which was nice was that the guy there knew EVERYONE. It seemed like he was on a first name basis w/ all the patrons that were there already and everyone else that walked in after me. I'm thinking he's the owner. He was a tall "big" build guy w/ a ball cap on w/ nice blue eyes. You can't mistake him. I think it's so awesome to go to those small town bars where everyone knows everyone! It made me want to come back more! Which I did. I came back the following day & brought a friend! The only thing that got me a little bummed was when a patron asked if he could do waffle fries and the owner was like, "I can get 'em for you but I can't substitute the regular fries for 'em." Talk about not holding it down for your customers. It really took away from that small-town feeling I was feeling at the beginning. Anyway my buffalo sandwich was great. Fries were good. Beer was cold. Came back w/ my buddy and got the same. He got honey mustard boneless wings and they were bangin'! I say come to this place! It's great. A message to who I thought the owner was- think about holding it down for you customers next time? Subbing waffle fries ain't gonna cost ya an arm & a leg.

I used to come here pretty often in college, at what I think was an older location, but I wasn't impressed on a recent re-visit. The waffle fries with cheese were good and the beer menu has improved (probably because they've paired up with Amherst Brewing Company). But the drinks menu appears to be gone (c'mon, who's not going to miss drinks called "Bomb Pop" or "Alien Secretion"??) and what I remember being juicy and generously sauced wings were dry and extremely chewy. Our server even indicated there was no celery or carrots to accompany the spicy wings, which seems weird to me. I'll still have my college memories, I guess, but I'm not rushing back here as I have on past nostalgia trips.

  • Ila S.

Apparently they are know for their wings, so of course I had to try. I had boneless honey mustard wings and they were so good! But I also got sliders and they were so good. The others at our table got other preparations and everyone raves. Surprise was fried pickles and fried jalapeños with cheese. Go figure. Never would put that together, but it worked. The meal was good and fun. We walked in at 6:00 and sat at the last open table. After that there was a wait at the door. So we were right on time. This was a casual fun meal. Not fancy. Not expensive. If that's what you're looking for this is the place.

I very much enjoyed the boneless wings to go. These wings were so huge! And too delicious. I've been looking for wings this good ever since, even though I know they probably don't exist elsewhere. Put Hangar on your list.

Food is absolutely delicious. Large portions, reasonable prices. The place is a bit loud and dark and it can get very crowded.

I came for their $7 all you can eat chicken. However, the only downside to this deal is that there are only three flavor options and the chicken is boneless. Personally, I like wings better with bones. The chicken was okay - I used to like boneless chicken alot but I've grown tired of it. If I am to come back, it'll definitely be for their wings and I'll give their burgers a try.

Stopped here for wings on our annual trip to ski in VT. My wife used to come here when she was in grad school, so insisted that we stop since she has been craving their boneless wings. To explain... their boneless wings are basically just really good chicken fingers that they put sauce on. Turns out, my wife and my son both like chicken fingers! Anyway, back to reviewing the hangar. We stopped in midday on a Friday. Service was quick and courteous. We ordered up a bunch of fries, some boneless wings, a couple beers (great beer list! - and they'll happily bring samples), and an order of bone-in wings. I really liked the bone-in (traditional) wings; the dry-rubbed mesquite wings were excellent; crispy on the outside and juicy inside. You can get them to split an order into two different types of sauces too. Yes, the boneless wings were the best of that sort I've had (BWW has them too, though I think theirs are terrible), but I still prefer the bone-in ones. Also... if anyone else is as confused as I was about the difference between this place and "Wings Over Amherst"... apparently Wings Over Amherst is their carryout wing location and this is the original bar location. After eating the leftover wings that we took to go, I've changed my mind and am upgrading to 5 stars! The leftovers were still delicious! This is a great wing place!

I honestly forgot to take pictures because I was so distracted by the cheesy fries and mozzarella sticks. On these cheesy fries there is none of that fake cheese sauce. No, these fries cine with actual grated cheese on top. They were delicious, as well as the mozzarella sticks. As an entrée I got a cheeseburger which was delicious and a very good size. The fries also came aplenty. I tried one of my friends BBQ boneless wings and they were comparable to wings over amherst. The waitress was very friendly and prompt. For two people we only spent $35. All in all it was a fantastic experience.

I went to the Hangar back when I was in college and it's worth a trip any time I am anywhere near Amherst. My husband and I went in for lunch and experienced fabulous food and service. I had the boneless wings - cruisin (a two on the heat scale) and the honey BBQ. The wings were so fabulous I didn't have anything left to take home, which normally happens at other wing places. My husband got the regular buffalo wings, higher up on the heat scale and said they were fabulous. I also love that the fries are crinkle cut. The server was attentive with refills and quick with the check. If you haven't gone yet - go check it out soon.

For 5 years, ordering wings was a treat that I took for granted. Have I had great boneless wings outside of Amherst? Of course. Does the Hangar wings stand the test of time? You bet your arse! The first time I had wings here was in 1998. The last time I had wings here was last week. There have been huge swaths of time where I wasn't able to get my hands on the Hangar wings, but whenever I'm within driving distance, I will go out of my way to have their wings. The best part of that you can choose from 18 flavors. Seriously 18. That's a ridiculous number of options. I'm partial to honey bbq, canjun teriyaki, and old reliable mustang ranch. There's also the various buffalo options with heat. I love you, Wings. Don't ever change. I hope to see you soon. xoxo

Stopped in here after leaving Amherst Brewing Company across the street because their service was so bad. The Hangar is a divey college type pub. The back of the building had junk laying around, and didn't look too clean. The doors to the supply closets were open to the outside and you could just walk in and take stuff. The inside was extremely loud with most people just drinking and not eating. We were seated immediately because a table had just opened. Our drinks arrived quickly, and then the waiting began. It took about 40 minutes for the food to come out, along with my appetizer I ordered earlier. The food was pretty good. I had the boneless wings and a Reuben. It wasn't really a family atmosphere, and wouldn't recommend it for children. I'd go back, maybe for just beers.

My boyfriend and I just discovered the Hangar the last month of our senior year at UMass, but I wish we knew about it sooner! Generous portions at a super reasonable price. If you're looking for dinner and a couple of beers for under $20 come here!

Jamaican Jerk is my new favorite along with the Nuclear reactor nachos...great wings and great waitstaff...watching the game over a few cold ones while visiting my kid at UMass...place is always packed for a reason!

The chicken wings are delish and there is a nice variety of seasonings and hotness. The drinks are good, the prices are great, wish the bathrooms were cleaner - cool hangout spot.

Yummy! This was my second time here. I got wimpy wings and my girlfriend got sweet onion barbecue boneless. You can't beat the chicken here. It's so fresh and crispy. Service is great and the food comes out fast and hot. I believe this is cash only establishment but that doesn't bug me. I've always gone on Sundays around 12:30 and have never had a problem finding a seat. Check this place out. You won't regret it.

Made a fatal mistake...I forgot to bring my ID to this place!!! I thought that I would not appreciate the food as much since I will be missing out on all the chicken + beer action, but the chicken itself is so good that I don't think I missed out on anything! We were a party of 5 so we ordered both some wings and boneless chicken. They come out smothered in sauce so I thought they wouldn't be that crispy. But they were perfectly fried and the batter was still crispy and hot! It was frikkin delicious!! We had 5 different types of sauces, and we all concluded that the honey mustard was by far the best. The BBQ ones all have similar tastes, so I recommend that you just pick one of the bbq sauces and get the honey mustard! It's the best.

The Hangar really let me down today. Upon arriving, the hubs and I grabbed a table by the bar. All tvs but one had the UMASS game on, understandable. We asked if we could have the other TV (Ohio State/Michigan blow out with 2 mins left in the 4th) changed to the FSU/UF game. We were told this was not possible and then a few mins later they changed that very TV for two guys at the bar. As the level of fruit flies picked up around our table, we tried to find our server for quite some time to fill our empty beers. We waited over 25 mins for our nuclear meltdown (chili cheese fries) and finally stood up and flagged our server down from the dining room. We unfortunately had to cancel our order, given we missed the whole first quarter of the game due to her.. mess up? On the way out we heard a woman at the other table in the bar area complain about the fruit flies. Did they forget to clean that area? Was our order ever sent to the kitchen? Is sitting at the bar a requirement for adequate service? As a 30% tipping customer here... I am having lots of second thoughts about The Hangar. :( Won't be back any time soon.

Don't work here. Did a trial for four days and didn't continue working there bc the staff was very cliquey/petty and the managers were jerks. They never paid me for my last two shifts despite my asking several times. That's not even legal bro.

Came in with some friends, for late dinner. Waitress was nice to start, then we saw her slam some cups over because apparently she didn't get a tip from previous customer and decided to take her anger out on us. HORRIBLE SERVICE afterwards! Food came and was great! 3 stars for the food! Borderline 1 for service. Nice crispy boneless wings! Awesome sauce. I had bbq and wimpy. Very flavorful. I wanted more ranch for wings but our server, Kyrsten was too busy flirting with the tools next table over. And another waitress comes over and both of them start shouting vulgar worlds to each other, yes I understand it's a pub, but that is unacceptable when their is an 10 year old at the table. Wasn't on top of things at all since the guys arrived. I would come back for food, not for service. Mc Donald's has better service. After checking us out, she dropped all 4 of our credit cards and receipts down at once and stated yelling worlds again to the tools next table, and left with no bye. Will be back, but not for her.

Without question the BEST chicken in the area (North America). The staff is always friendly, the service is quick and the food is delicious! The chicken is a can't miss - but try 'The Mess' - gravy fries!! And the beer menu is epic!!

Good wings (obviously) nachos are just okay. There is a bit of a wait at peak hours so be prepared and it is pretty loud. I love the honey mustard garlic parm and afterburner flavors--also the wrap is underrated. I actually used to work here and saw the food being made and am still willing to eat here which I think says a lot.

The legends are true. The best wings reside here. I have been a fan since college. Take out or eat in they are phenomenal. Inside is a simple and fun sports bar with an above average drink selection. Prices are very fair as well. Casual place to eat and drink and eat some more.

Still crunchy as ever, tried the wings at Wings Over Brookline a few weeks ago and thought maybe because of the economy, quality has gone down, but that wasn't the case at the Hangar! Maybe they should look into their franchises because the amount of chicken I got at the Hangar compared to Brookline was night and day. I received double, if not triple the amount I received from their Brookline location for the same order. Also noticed on my drive they have a seperate Wings Over Amherst down the street from the Hangar? Strange. Never stepping foot in any other location besides the original. I miss this place.

I miss living in the valley. I miss living in a dorm where my hampshire friends and I would order pounds of afterburner and a 2 liter of mountain dew and a tub of bleu cheese and just eat ourselves into a perfect, fiery hell. There's a wings near me now in Boston but, baby, it just ain't the same.

100th review! If you are looking for the best wings in the area look no further. If you order dry wings or bone in wings here you are untrustworthy. Though, anything you order will still be better than rafters wings. Your wings will be delivered by scantily clad college girls only. It's not going to be a problem. Ask for your own roll of paper towels and extra blue cheese. No one wants to share. Hbbq wings reign supreme. Honey mustard wings are like taking home a girl with beer goggles on. Seems like a really good idea at the time but the next morning you try them again and leave with a bad taste in your mouth. If you want to trick yourself into feeling better about not consuming 5000 calories then order the salad with wings on them. They are not only delectable, but offer a sense of comfort that you ate leafy greens in a menu of high calorie laden items. If you are want to talk to your friends in the hangar bring a loudspeaker because you will not be heard. Also they have crinkle cut fries. PS. If you end up a rafters it better be for free popcorn and basketball shoutout. But only go after taking on the Zeppelin with your friends.

Heed warning: if you are looking for something "healthy," you ain't gonna find it here. I'm sure their salads are adequate but I can't imagine ever ordering anything off this menu that isn't deep fried or greasy. I've been eating the boneless wings for over a decade now and I can say they are some of my favorite. A few weekends ago, I tried the bone-in wing and I can officially say they are some of the best wings I've ever had. Best sauces? red alert, honey mustard, honey bbq, sweet chili. I'm not a huge fan of their dry rubs. I also had a nacho burger there and it was amazing. This place really does greasy food well. Great drink specials? check. Sports? check. Leave feeling like you want to die, but that's okay because your last meal was the best? check.

Hands down the best Buffalo Wing dedicated restaurant I have been to. I always try to sample the best wings from other areas I visit and have tried countless versions throughout MA. This is still the best overall wing joint I have found. Also about 20 great beers on-tap. Come here first and foremost for the wings or boneless. Both are great and come in a great variety of sauces. I have tried many of the sauces but I keep coming back for Red Alert, Jet Fuel and Afterburner (the 3-5 on the buffalo sauce heat scale). The Red Alert is a great example of a spicy classic buffalo flavor. The Afterburner is good for chili-heads but won't ruin your night. I also suggest the loaded waffle fries but the portion is huge; split them unless you are really hungry! I can't really speak for most of the other food items but the wings alone justify the rating. If you like great beer, you will also be happy. The beer selection really brings the Hanger above the rest. Great wings with a diverse selection of fresh IPAs, German lagers and other craft brews is a perfect match. They also serve the light lagers of the world if that is your thing. The restaurant itself is simple, self-seating and a medium sized bar. Tons of TVs with basically any important sports match which may be happening that day. Service is always fast and servers have never had a problem splitting checks in our big groups.

The Hangar is phenomenal when what you want is unhealthy, boneless wings. I'm not even sure if there's anything else on the menu. They have some good beers, but come on, it's about the wings. For some reason, there are always like 4 cars in the lot per person in the restaurant, so don't let that scare you from eating inside. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes, but maybe I've just gone at strange times. All of the flavors are great, and the wings are always consistent. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is that the servers are also consistently OK. I've never been wowed by them, even though they're probably also just students and I feel like they could do just a little more to relate with their customers. Still, if you visit Amherst even once, you should go to the hangar.

Since boyfriend drags me there every time we're in town I've been back a few times now. Still pretty average, but I just wanted to mention that you should stick to two things there: fries and the honey BBQ wings. Don't waste your time on anything else.

Hangar has made a name for itself as the wing house of Amherst. If you want wings with delectable varieties of flavors to try, you should go to the Hangar. There is a franchise in existence now, called "Wings Over..." that extends the span of their influence. In Boston, one can get Hangar-quality wings from several "Wings Over" establishments. But to be fair, the quality of "Wings Over" is merely a fraction of the original, tried and true quality of Hangar Wings. I love the Honey BBQ, but they have a shopping list of flavors to choose from. They have 5 different buffalo varieties that range in intensity, so buffalo fans can rejoice and challenge themselves. They're also a bar, which means they carry great beers to match your meal. It's the best place to watch a sports game, eat some wings, and have a beer with your friends. Their prices are reasonable. You get a lot for your money, and usually walk away satisfied. They also cater, which is excellent for outdoor events. You simply can't go wrong, but the only negative is the size of the bar. It may take a while to get seated if you go on a popular night (Thurs-Saturday, or sport nights). If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle, simply order for take-out. They're about 9.5/10 times as good as they are in-house.

This is the perfect place to live at if you are in college. TVs everywhere for sports viewing and decent specials on wings and beer. All you can eat trough right at you enter has wings and chicken fingers piled high...I guess this is only Mon and Tues. Just so happens it was Tuesday the wife and I were there. The special seemed to be the most popular item that night. Flocks of co-eds made multiple trips to the trough. The wife and I ordered up some beers of a very extensive and impressive list. At such a college influenced bar you would expect the typical American regulars and light beers. But they had a plethora of micro brew choices as well. The wife had some Oktoberfest hefeweizen and I had one as well and then a Harpoon Oktoberfest. We then had some waffle fries along with an order of 10 wings aka the PUDDLE JUMPER (Honey BBQ and Red Alert buffalo sauces) and the Boneless DC-3 about 5 tenders barely dressed in the parmasean peppercorn sauce. Overall, these are some really good wings. I am not a hater, but these aren't the best wings. They are really good though. Fun place to be at happy hour. And can understand why the wings are addictive. Will definitely make it a stop on the next trip to UMASS with the wife.

My boyfriend and I arrived here skeptical that the wings could really be as good as the reviews have said. We patiently waited in line, until another person in line took over sending groups to tables. Mind you it was a Sunday Game Night! The atmosphere was loud and rowdy but tables were talking to each other and laughing and yelling for the games. It was awesome! Our waitress came by and was pretty attentive for how crazy the place was. It didn't take long to get our wings. We choose Spicy Teriyaki, Jamaican Jerk, and Honey Barbecue. Both of us instantly were quiet and ignoring the game, they were amazing. They were crispy and juicy with lots of sauce all over them. Our favorite was the Jamaican Jerk, we ordered 4 containers of just the sauce to bring back to our part of the state. The Teriyaki was good but not so spicy, more of a sweet and sour, but we loved it too. Finally, the Honey Barbecue was good as well. We determined that we don't know if these are the best wings that we have ever had. But we know they are pretty close to the top. By far the best we have had in the state. This is saying a lot since I have covered Texas and he's covered the west coast! We'll be grabbing our friends and taking a short game day road trip down here just for the wings. Go Pats!

Roughly 3 lbs of perfectly prepared boneless chicken smothered in honey mustard sauce at a very reasonable price and a great beer list make the Hanger a definite must-eat while in Amherst. Bonus: The leftovers tasted just as good a couple of days later. Warning: Parking can be a bit of a chore and the waitress seemed to have better things to do than to take our order in a timely manner or see if refills were needed.

A small bar / pub that is part sports bar part air travel history...good food but there seems to be a lack of urgency here...if you know this when you go in...you will be fine & roll with it. Nice beer selection & very good bone-in/boneless wings/chicken. No frills...but roll with it & you will have a good time.

Oh My God. The best wings on earth. No idea how they are so big but they are massive. I had the 10-pc order of Buffalo. It was only $6 and so filling I couldn't even finish them. Great fun loud atmosphere too! Service was so-so and they RAN OUT OF celery but so worth it for amazing cheap wings.

Best wings ever! The sports bar atmosphere can be a little overwhelming for a girl who doesn't care about sports and SUPER loud but if you go when there's not a game on or college is out that pretty much takes care of it. But seriously I'm not really a wing person in general but these are so good.

Don't even look at the menu. If you're here, you are going to get the Honey BBQ boneless wings. They are edible sin. I could nom on them for eternity.

The Hangar is a place of magic. I'll parrot what most people have said: Honey BBQ boneless wings. Failing that, teriyaki. Nachos. Beer. The portions are unbelievably huge. And for those of us that love soggy, mushy french fries? You'll never have better. The atmosphere is really cramped, as they're not working with a lot of room. I don't recommend going on weekend nights, as the place is usually packed with college kids. Don't go during big sports events, either... there's just not elbow room when there's a game on. Barring that? It's like the church of the god of pub food, and he's a loving god that wants you to wallow in decadence.

HOT DAMN. Hangar, I cannot even get enough of you. Even though some people have given you bad reviews, I will stand by you through thick and thin. I ate you for dinner on Friday night and then had your leftovers three times after. I can feel my arteries clog a little bit more each time I put one of your delectable chicken wings into my mouth, but ya know what? I don't even care, because baby you are worth it. The Hangar is a popular sports bar/restaurant right next to UMass Amherst. The prices are outrageously cheap (i.e. $16 for two pounds of chicken wings) and they offer about 20 different flavors of wings. They also have other standard bar food that include nachos, burgers, salads, etc. The place is always packed, especially when Boston sports are on, but it's usually easy to find a seat after a short wait. The wait staff has always been great and they are very attentive to getting you everything you need in a timely fashion. I have been to the Hangar multiple times and have never been dissapointed. If you are in western MA, the Hangar is definitely worth a try for a beer and some chicken wings. Rating: if possible I would give them more than five stars, because I am still salivating over the food I ate this past weekend, but for now the Hangar gets a 5 out of 5!

I wouldn't be surprised if people choose to go to school in Amherst simply because of Hangar Wings. Yes it's that mutha f*@#kin' good. And those of you who have eaten here know this! Fav? Honey BBQ & Ranch, I probably should of graduated with a bachelors in Wings from UMass because seriously this is what I ate, thankfully I stayed 110 lbs throughout my 4 years...have no clue how... ugh...why do I live in LA...Hangar where art thou???

The original Wings Over. If you're within 20 miles of this place, you gotta try their stuff because it's crack! On high-demand by UMass Amherst students, this is the place to get your fried pieces of chicken, boneless or on the bone. They have more than 15 different flavors, where for the combo meals you can choose about 3 to 4. My favorites are garlic parm, honey mustard, and honey bbq. I wouldn't recommend the teriyaki or their oriental flavor though, save that for when you go to Chinese take-out joints. They sell their stuff by the pound, not by the piece, which is good because a lot of other spots would count lil' nugget-sized pieces as a whole, which my money doesn't agree with. Their waffle fries are BOMBBB, especially the cajun flavor; I highly recommend them. The regular fries aren't so hot, and they get soggy when you ask for delivery, which is wack. I asked for extra celery and asked the girl if it would be extra charge, and she said no, but it was--just so y'all know in case you want extra celery. But besides those little tidbits, they have super fast delivery; even though they say it'll take about half an hour, they get there in less than 20!

In Amherst, I know wing lovers have to draw a line in the sand...you're either a Rafters person or a Hangar person. To me, I've tried to play both sides of the fence. I enjoy Rafters (literally next door) more, but have friends who will only go to the Hangar. So, I go - once in a while - and I TRY (I really do) to enjoy it. I am sorry to say that I cannot ever be satisfied with the food. I went for lunch last week with two co-workers - we ordered a very large order of boneless wings. Without exaggeration, the waitress left and came back with our wings within 2 minutes...HOW CAN THIS BE?!? The only answer is their food is pre-cooked and waiting to be served. Makes sense to me...and validates why I feel gross whenever I leave. I like the staff and the people who frequent the establishment. So, for that reason, I'll be back. However, next time, I'll grab lunch at Rafters before heading over...

It can't get any better for college takeout! This place should become a staple in every college.I have countlessly spent eating these wings more than attending my classes. I hope to visit Amherst once a year just to eat this chicken. haha Honey Mustard, Ranch, Texas Mesquite are my favorites... YUMMM!

  • Edward A.

One of the best Pub/Grills in Amherst hands down! The boneless wings here are amazing (I usually go for a one pounder of the Cajun BBQ). If you're not into wings they also have killer burgers there as well. The food is on point for the price you pay. It can get pretty packed especially on nights when the Bruins are on. But hockey and wings just makes for a good time. Ordered from here all the time when I was at UMass!

  • Heather G.

Hangar has by far the best wings in Amherst. The honey BBQ boneless wings are absolutely to die for, but naturally everyone will have their own favorite. That being said I think the quality and taste of the wings has gone down slightly since becoming "Wings Over Amherst". The taste is still really outstanding but I do notice a slight difference. Delivery is very speedy but I do know they don't deliver to certain apartment complexes which can be disappointing. The eat in facility is perfectly adequate for what it is, but it is a bit too small for the volume it receives during certain parts of the school year. Parking is ample thanks to the lot next door. Overall if you're in the mood for some great wings or waffle fries, there's plenty to love about the Hangar.

    (4)
  • Felicia K.

OMG, best boneless buffalo wings ever. The alleged atmosphere leaves something to be desired, but the waitress was friendly, the prices were low, and the food and beer make you forget about any visual shortcomings.

  • Matt C.

I have a love-hate relationship with the hangar. First off, everyone here is correct, the food is to die for. However the atmosphere in the actual restaurant is merely par, and the beer's aren't cheap enough to justify showing up here instead of ordering delivery. This place is TINY! Even when it is slow, the seating is still cramped and uncomfortable. The staff isn't bad, but I can't really say its above average, it merely acceptable. The beer list is good, but not necessarily cheap for college students with minimal income. Food is amazing of course, and probably the best pub fare in the area (NoHo included). Burgers are big and cheap, wings to die for. If you are visiting the area, I can't recommend coming to the hangar enough, but if you live nearby (I'm looking at you UMass) your best bet is to order take out through Wings over Amherst (who are supplied by the Hangar) rather than paying extra for beer and service, especially when all we want is some bad ass wings.

Despite being a dingy college sports bar this place has the best wings I have ever had. Truly amazing. The Golden BBQ flavor will rock your world. If you live in Western Mass and eat chicken you must try this stuff. They deliver but eating them hot off the plate is pretty great. Just wish the bar/restaurant was more charming. The waitstaff are insincere hoochy mamas( although some are nice to stare at and some are just plain nice) and the bartender is not very friendly. The music is turned up WAY too loud to talk and its pretty cramped. But the food makes it all worthwhile. This place is an institution.

  • Sam M.

Wings, Nachos, large selection of beer, takeout if your a student or around the area. Heck yes. I've been to other Wings over around the MA area and I will always be loyal to the Amherst one. The inside is a bit small, so sometimes seating can take awhile, but in the end the food is great the waitstaff is friendly and there are TVs all over the place. As long as you aren't expecting a gourmet meal I would happily recommended Hangar to anyone.

The Hangar is the perfect post-race food for a vicious 10 miler (Jones Group Realtors 10 Mile Road Race for you masochists out there) throughout the rolling hills of Amherst. By rolling hills, I mean "makes Heartbreak Hill look like a wee bump in the road, so 1.5 hours of that made me ready to chomp. You can select wings by: 1) bone or boneless 2) spiciness level 1-5, e.g., 2 = cruisin altitude, 3 = red alert, 4 = jet fuel 3) flavors 1-17, including honey barbeque, kickin barbeque, golden barbeque, spicy teriyaki, garlic parmesan, buffalo, lemon pepper, honey lime, cajun, and many more. 4) size of platter: DC-3 = enough for 1, DC-10 = enough for 2, and so on until you reach Concorde = HUGE and Zeppelin = MASSIVE. Chomp I did! Seven of us masochistic runners gathered after the race to devour a Concorde platter of level 3 boneless wings in buffalo, honey barbeque, spicy teriyaki, and cajun. Mmm!! I suspect if we ever did a full marathon out here, we'd need the Zeppelin.

I'm so, so conflicted over the Hanger/Wings. I love it - I love it! I've lived in Amherst for 6 years, I went to undergrad here; how could I not love it. It's an institution, and its wings and The Mess are incomparable. Hence, the four stars. HOWEVER. 1) The wings aren't always a) hot, or b) consistently fantastic. BUT, more significantly, 2) I have gotten food poisoning twice after eating here, and came close to yakking last night (yeah, yeah, I had dinner there; I got honey bbq wings with my friends, which were great; and an order or potato skins, which were bland, cool, and mediocre at best. Look, if you're going to get a side here, order The Mess). That is a HUGE reason that the Hanger isn't getting 5 stars, and why I would consider even dropping it down. I think it says something in that I have been there - albeit just last night, a year later - after getting food poisoning there and puking in the parking lot. At the same time... I yakked. On two separate occasions. Immediately after eating their food. No, I wasn't drunk either time.

Back in the college days I never really frequented the Hangar...its one of the biggest college regrets that I have! This place is awesome, selling some of the best wings I've had and the beer list is awesome! Drank a bear republic racer 5 with my wings-I was in Heaven. Of all the places I dined at and hung out at this past week (in the Amherst area) this was probably my favorite!

This is where the "Wings Over" craze began and let's give credit where credit is due. In college I lived off Wings, which were delivered from here, and I've had them from the Wings in Worcester and Brookline. There is NOTHING like sitting down at the Hangar and ordering some wings (bone in or out) or a chicken sandwich/wrap. The perfect texture, lots of meat, and drenched in sauce. My favorites will always be Golden BBQ and Honey BBQ, but I like nearly all the flavors. Get some extra bleu cheese and wash it down with a cold beer, forget about it.

This is a UMass-Amherst institution. The Hangar Pub & Grill was one of the first places I ate at when I went to UMass over 8 years ago. Since I last went to this establishment, the food and atmosphere is definitely sports-barish. You will see a great mix of students and professionals hear, enjoying well over a dozen and half beers on tap and really awesome wings. I prefer the boneless honey BBQ wings, however, I have enjoyed their other wing flavors and their wraps. Plasma TVs are across the place so you can definitely watch any New England sports game. My only issue with this place is space. They have done, over the years, lots of different organization changes to make up for space. However, the building is always going to be a small place. You are going to have to wait in line on some nights for a table or a spot at the bar. Overall though, its worth it. Lots of good times with friends and my now wife at this place.

I arrived about 10 minutes before opening, and this place was packed in about three minutes. I soon found out why, although I have been told numerous times - the Hanger has great wings! I don't think there is a greater atmosphere to eat wings in, at least on the day I went. Visiting friend & family over in the area, a couple of friends and I decided to stop by the Hanger on the day after Christmas. We got our seats, and took a look at the mouthwatering menu. With so many choices, I wasn't sure what I wanted anymore. Nachos, twice baked potatoes, onion rings, ribs, and most of all CHICKEN WINGYS! On the tube was "World's Strongest Man 2008" - all those not familiar with the event, these big dudes lift jeeps, logs, pull aircrafts to see who is stronger. By the way, the dude from Poland won! It took me a minute, but I choose the DC-3 Boneless Buffalo Cruisin' Attitude, with crinkle cut fries and a Pepsi. Before long lunch was served. The portions are huge, I had at least a 1.5 pounds of fries on one plate, a nice plate of wings, celery sticks, and blue cheese on the other. The wings had a great flavor to them, but not all that hot, a great medium for people who don't like mild, but also don't like their nose running. Next time I am going with the Red Alert. The blue cheese, and I am hoping this was just a bad batch, was watered down and not chunky. The fries were tasty, you really can't go wrong with those. I also had one of the twice baked potatoes, which tasted great! Will I be back? Yes, next time I am in the area. Maybe I will order both the Honey BBQ (due to peoples' suggestions) and the Red Alert... because I can't eat wings without at least a little Buffalo.

Great wings. Meaty, moist, and delicious. Getting a seat inside can be challenging on your typical Friday or Saturday night, and for good reason. The beer is cheap, its a convenient location to campus, and they truly have great bar food. I'd recommend trying the golden barbecue wings--if you enjoy honey mustard, it will likely be the best experience of your life!!

Okay, I forgot just how good the selection of delicious beer they have on tap is. I definitely wouldn't come here for a weekend night out, and I can't eat the wings anymore, but for a casual afternoon beer close to campus, the Hanger is tough to beat.

The Hangar rules. Whenever I'm in the Western Mass area, I always try to go to the Hangar. It has the best boneless buffalo wings I've ever had. They have 5 levels of spiciness. I usually go with level 3, and 4 if I'm feeling saucy. They also have several other sauce choices. The only other one that I've tried is the honey mustard, which is pretty damn tasty as well. They serve huge portions and the fries and onion rings are pretty good too. They have a pretty big selection of beers on tap and an interesting variety of drinks on their drink menu. The prices are also very reasonable. Especially since they serve such big portions. They've opened a few "Wings Over" whatevers in the Boston area and I've gotten take-out from them a few times. I really like coming to this one though, because even though it's not the nicest interior, it's comfortable and it's a fun place to go to have wings and beer with some friends. I wish the others were sit-down places too, instead of just take-out.

DC-10. Half honey mustard, half honey bar-b-q. 'Nuff said.

This place has ridiculously good wings. I keep coming back. The only drawback--I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel pretty lousy after eating them and need to drink something like a gallon of water to restore hydration. But what the hell, you only live once, right?

I love this place. Been going here since 2000. Still the same great food with a bunch of beers on tap. Love the honey mustard and teriyaki.

Best wing's I've ever had in my life! I cannot emphasize how good the wings are! I have a love for wings, and order them almost everywhere I go just to compare and try different places, but The Hanger is the meatiest, sauciest, most delicious deal you're going to get in western Massachusetts. My co-worker and I discovered that they begin delivering on Friday's at 1. Once we made this discovery, it was over. The price is reasonable for what you get. Can't go wrong with the honey BBQ, but I think the honey mustard is the best. The afterburner is never actually spicy, but I have a higher tolerance than most people. I know I haven't mentioned much about the rest of the menu, and there's a reason for that. With wings like this, you don't really even want to waste your time looking at anything else. Either way, the rest is mediocre at best. Beer menu is good, with most of the local micro brews. You can get a huge cheap light beer the cheapest in Amherst if that's your taste. St. Patty's day $2 pints of Guiness last year, but no promises they'll do it again. Oh yes, and the waitresses. If there has ever been more cause for a hiring discrimination lawsuit, then tell me about it. Honestly, no complaints, I'm just saying whoever does the hiring is definitely a male.

Great wings. Many, many varieties of flavors to choose from. Great beer selections. AND Poutine - gravy cheese fries!!! The only place in the area I know of that offers this Quebecois dish. Alas, they don't offer it to go. But, stay - enjoy your beer and wings, and the nifty atmosphere.

It doesn't look particularly appetizing from the outside or inside even, but their food is top notch. Boneless buffalo wings are fantastic and much bigger than I expected! They had a nice choice of fllavors too...we were quite impressed with the garlic Parmesan. Also god a turkey club, which was huge and awesome, and the fries were great. Beer selection was also fantastic. Yes, it is small in there but worth the wait!

My roommate has Wings on speed-dial. Enough said. Definitely definitely get the boneless. You really can't go wrong with any of the flavors, but I'm partial to the honey bbq, honey mustard, and jamaican jerk. The buffalo sauce is tasty but I'm too much of a little girl to handle even the wimpy. The fries are an essential complement to the meal. The Hangar gets crowded at times, but worth the wait. Or you can just order for delivery until 2am. A word on sizes: the DC-3 is usually enough for one person to feel ridiculously full and still have a couple pieces left over. Wings I will miss you when I leave!

Oh The Hangar, how I love you in so many ways. Amherst was a shell of a town before you came. Never did I know what I was missing while growing up in a town without your influence. And then you came. I was in college and it was the most glorious thing to happen to me before graduating. Yeah, it was weird sometimes seeing my dad sitting at the bar, chumming it up with the staff when I rolled in with my college buddies, but it was worth it every time. The menu is perfect: big and topped nachos (don't worry, you get used to the chili in the place of salsa); the biggest potato skins outside of Idaho; fresh hot, cripsy fries (waffle or crinkle); lots of cold beers on tap (including a $2-something Huge Coors Light); fresh, tasty sandwich wraps; endless sodas; pool; a jukebox; and that's not even mentioning the wings yet! Who am I kidding? We all go there for the wings, but you know it's a good place when you can order anything on the menu with confidence. The wings are juicy and bigger than the norm (both boneless and on the bone). One order can have numerous flavored sauces added to it (according to how big it is). The plates are huge enough to split and still take some home, even if you follow the sizing suggestions. And the ambiance is a place that I can call home: pub-like with a roll of paper towels on the table. Hey, it used to be my dad's favorite haunt, guess it was a lot like home for me. I need to schedule a trip to visit the parents, and by "visit the parents," I mean we will eat at The Hangar.

This place is great. We got the DC-10 "too much for 1, not enough for 2" which let us get 2 different types of sauces (I'm a straight-up buffalo girl, Tim likes terriyaki) -- the wings were awesome and we got a huge plate of great nachos, and I got a huge beer for $2. What more could you want?

Undoubtedly the best Wings in town, better than Applebee's or Dominoes. I have indulged in wings from this place several times and have tried several flavors. I have an extremely adventurous palette and spiciness is not an exception. I have tried the highest level After-Burner(level 5) and Red Alert (level 3). I would have to say that I enjoyed eating Red Alert over the After-Burner. With all that spiciness, the buffalo flavor is almost evanescent in the potpourri of fire. There is just too much going on on the After-Burner, I am okay with the additional peppers, but the sourness ... no. It is just way to vinegary and takes away from the original buffalo flavor. I havent tried level 4 but Red Alert (level 3) does it job in terms of giving a kick. My next one would be level 4 which is Jet Fuel, I hope it remains true to its sauce. Some of my non-buffalo favorites are Sweet Onion bbq, Jaimaican Jerk and Honey Mustard. I have always enjoyed wings with bones, but somehow I am now am starting to like the boneless. Its just the way Wings does it, the size of the pieces are pretty huge and a lot of times, bigger than the wings with bones. The outer layer is always well coated with batter and I never see any white meat until I bite into it. The ultimate determinant of a good wing is the flavor of the sauce and I think Wings hits a bull's eye every time. The crew behind wings are awesome too, they deliver like no other. Usually it takes around 20 minutes, but this one time, I got my order within 5 minutes!!! I have to clarify that it was was actual wings not boneless, but 5 minutes!! is unheard of! And also I had requested a ranch instead of bleu, since the bleu was already in the package and ready to go, they just threw one ranch container in for free. The sauce did get all over my drink and plastic, but the fast service is an easy fix. Their main target audience are college kids and one can easily tell by their menu and affordable low price. I forgot to mention Wings is the delivery service of The Hangars rest. and bar. I have been there couple of times, nothing too extraordinary, just a classic college sports bar setting with lots of flat panels on almost everywhere you face. Great selection of beer too. I remember getting a Stone IPA, and it came upto $5.50, which is pretty reasonable for Amherst.

I miss this place so bad. For some reason, the west coast doesn't know how to make chicken wings taste good. Actually the traditional wings here are no good- they are meaty- but the skin hangs off soggily-bad news for people like me who enjoy a crisp wing. But their BONELESS wings are un-f*ing-believable. There are like 25 different flavors to choose from- my favorite is the honey BBQ. Perfect with a good BBC Steel Rail Ale. And the best part is they DELIVER- up to like 3AM. A must see (eat) if you're in the Amherst area.

I went to the Hangar often in college (3 years ago now) and I miss this place. The wings are absolutely the best I've ever had (and I've lived in Dallas, Austin, NYC and now the San Francisco Bay Area). I loved the honey BBQ, but I tried a whole slew of flavors and they were all good. The nuclear meltdown (chili cheese waffle fries) are the stuff dreams are made of. Definitely some of the best food the Pioneer Valley has to offer.
