I LOVE Mexican food!! Always hunting for my next favorite spot. Sombreros is good but not great. And not really cheap like most Mexican restaurants. Here are there best items: Chips and Salsa Fajita Beef Nachos Chicken Fajitas There not so good items: Enchiladas Tamales Chili Reliano Tacos Taco Salad I have tried them all and the first are the only ones consistently good. Not so bad if you need a quick lunch. Would not go here for a nice dinner.

My first time going, my husband and I were greeted by the friendly staff. I ordered the El Royale and was able to substitute some of the beef for chicken. Great amount of food and well made. My husband had the grilled tuna...a Mexican restaurant not near the ocean is not the place to have tuna..The only reason it's not 5 stars was because of the tuna...I guess if it's on the menu, it should taste good if not decent. Everything else tasted great! The house margarita is fabuloso! Wednesday Fiesta Night! Salud!

Love this place!! We venture out and try other Mexican restaurants every now and then but none are as good as these guys! Food is fantastic, service is great, and its a nice, clean place unlike lots of others I have seen!

Sombreros is pretty much a staple of Walker. The food and service are always excellent. Had the seafood enchiladas tonight. They were very good. I also had a margarita which was tasty.

The food is good and more than ample amount especially compared to the price. You will get more food than you expected if it's your first visit. The owner is real friendly and tries to work the dinning room to make sure everyone is satisfied; however he has been know to hang about talking too much while you try to eat. However I never let that stop me from eating there. The food is good yet not the best Mexican you can find nearby; but a great value and like I said the food is good. The place stays packed for a reason.

We chose to stop here based on the reviews and they did not disappoint. As promised, Tommy stopped at our table and briefly chatted. The food was excellent and I am now patiently awaiting my fried ice cream, which I'm confident that too will be tasty. My husband has a grilled chicken dish and I had the combo plate, the Laredo; we would order both again.

Literally the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. The drinks, the food, especially the service. Tommy, the owner, walks around and ensures each customer is happy and pleased with the food. My girlfriend and I both ordered the burrito supreme... It was very good. Fresh ingredients and quality products throughout. Try the chipotle crawfish queso! You will not be disappointed. We will be back for sure.

What a great find! We were seated immediately. They have a shrimp sampler that was delicious. The wait staff were very attentive. The owner came over to check on us and thank us for coming in and trying the restaurant. Great food and service! Will definitely come back!

This is best place to eat in Walker, it's better than a lot of Mexican restaurants in Baton Rouge too! Thanks Tommy!

The food is really good. The best Mexican food in town. Tommy the owner is always talking to the guests. This is a great place to go eat.

I am a contractor that works exclusively for top tier restaurants across numerous southern states for the past 18+ years. I only service a few smaller "mom&pop" places and only if its some place I enjoy. Let me be the first to say that there is not a cleaner kitchen in Louisiana and I am always impressed with the efficiency of the kitchen staff. They are very well trained and I've never seen anything done in an unsanitary way, and that's a BIG deal for a germ freak like myself! The owner, Tommy, stays on top of everyone here and is truly one of the nicest people I've ever met. The beef fajitas are hands down the best anywhere, along with the shrimp tacos, and when I can manage to stop ordering the same things over and over, I'd love to try the rest of the menu!lol My favorite place for Sooo many reasons! Enjoy!!!

The best fajitas I've ever had. Been here twice and each time the owner comes out to check on and talk to every table. I really like that he makes sure everything is ok with his customers. Great service and food.

What a nice surprise! Great service! Great margarita! Very accommodating to our special diet requests! Will make a new tradition of stopping here when passing thru. Kids enjoyed it too!

TUESDAY NIGHT is FAMILY NIGHT! KIDS EAT FREE, they have a Face Painter, a Clown named Trixie, who goes from table to table making animals, laser guns, hats, flowers, bracelets and more out of balloons. Great atmosphere and fun for the kids! We were greeted by a friendly hostess, because of it being family night, we had only a 10 minute wait, and the food was well worth the wait! We were immediately served complimentary chips & salsa by our waiter, who took our drink order immediately and we added both an order of the white queso and yellow queso, we are still undecided which one tastes the best, they were both delicious! Our children were given kids menus that had word search games and things to color along with a pack of colors. On of my sons ordered a cheese quesidilla, and one a taco both came with beans and rice. My husband ordered a Mexican Pizza and it was absolutely the best Mexican Pizza ever, and I ordered the combo Fajitas, that was absolutely the best ever! The owner of this establishment, Tommy, makes it a point, to visit every single table, introduce himself, shake hands with every adult at the table and ask you, how was everything? Tommy's attention to us, made our visit much more personal, and he seemed really sincere in our opinion of his restaurant. Of course, everything was perfect and Tommy said, "Glad to hear it!". We finished our meal with some excellent shared desserts, a Cheesecake Chimmichanga topped with fresh strawberries and strawberry topping, and we also ordered a Flan, the absolute best Flan we have ever eaten! HATS OF TO TOMMY, & THE ENTIRE STAFF, CLOWN & FACE PAINTER INCLUDED, AT LOS SOMBREROS MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN WALKER, LA. Make the drive, the food is divine!!

Made it hear for a brief break from work while out in the boonies outside of Baton Rouge. I must admit this was an excellent break from the fried foods which are pretty much a staple for Louisiana cooking. The food here is decent, the Mexican beer was nice, and our server was sooo nice (epitomized Southern hospitality). So, if you're ever in Walker, Louisiana and are Jonesin' for some some Mexican, check out Los Sombreros!

Love the food and the service. We're only in the area 6 months of the year but when we're here it's where we go for Mexican. The owner is usually there and makes a point of trying to talk with everyone. He had noticed we hadn't been in for a while so he wanted to make sure everything was OK. This is a guy who knows what it takes to run a business....you have to be there and you have to care!! The food is consistently good with service to match

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. We've had the chance to go pick up Mexican in Baton Rouge since it's not THAT far away, but Los Sombreros keeps us coming back and craving their food. I had a party at my house and picked up some of the white queso and the chicken quesadillas to have for people to snack on and they made comments that it was some of the best Mexican they'd ever had! The queso doesn't thicken up all weird like some places do so it's great to have left over, and the tortillas don't get mushy so the same went for the quesadillas. And I don't usually even bother ordering desserts at Mexican restaurants, but the Cheesecake Chimi is sooooo good! Highly recommend this place!

Ha ha, you can tell Walker's going easier on the liquor laws these days! The good from that means margaritas and Mexican food! Came in here this week and was pretty impressed with what could have been scary (it's in a strip center in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Walker, that's a couple strikes). Not too bad at all, I'd totally go back. Really fab queso (get the ground beef!) and AMAZINGLY good taco salad. Plus, kids eat free on Tuesday. How can you go wrong? Good service, easy experience. Def would return!

Being originally from San Diego (AMAZING mexican food) and then moving to the bay area in California...I'd say I know a bit about mexican food ;). This place is pretty decent! Now, I'll admit- it's not the style that i'm used to- more texmex than anything...but it was tasty, the staff was very friendly and the prices were pretty good! I had the spicy tamales topped with cheese... YUM! My fiance had a couple of asada tacos and they looked pretty good too. I'd say if you are in the area, definitely take the time to swing by and try it out!

Really good food, and great service. Love their steak, in any of the dishes! My family and I have gone a couple times, and everyone is always helpful and polite. We were thanked multiple times for being return customers, and stuff like that alone makes me want to go back.

Big city restaurant with a small town charm. Everyone is extremely friendly and the manager greets everyone at their table to insure satisfaction. Great TexMex food and margaritas. Definitely worth circling the lot for a parking spot. I recommend them to everyone!

I never go to Walker, but we decided to make the trip from Baton Rouge to check the place out, and I must say, it was well worth it!! The food was excellent! I got the Trios Fajitas for two, and even with two of us, we still couldn't finish it all! The meat was so tender, and the shrimp were amazing! I'd make the trip again! :)

Most Mexican restaurants use middle or low grade steak for their fajitas. Not Sombreros! These were some of the best steak fajitas that I've had in a long time. The steak was tender, easy to chew, and flavorful. The fajita toppings were fresh. For dessert, the cheesecake chimichanga was fantastic. What a unique and wonderful treat!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
