Geaux Fish is one of the best places to eat in town. Have not tried anything I wouldn't order again. Some things to try for first timers: asparagus tempura is one of the best appetizers. The Cajun roll is a really good fried specialty roll. Their habachi is also the best I've tried.

I was a little apprehensive when this place opened because of the goofy, cajunized name. But I love it! Great sushi. Some creative house rolls but there's a nice menu of simple and fresh old standards if you just want some good old sushi. Always tastes really fresh. It has been a beloved dinner stop for me since opening. Hibachi is pretty good too.

Great sushi! Just moved out here from San Francisco--I was a little apprehensive about trying sushi out here, but I was greatly impressed by Geaux Fish! The spicy tuna roll and california roll were totally on-par with my beloved bay area sushi spots. Looking forward to trying more!!

I have to start this review with a small caveat. The food gets 4 Stars and the service 3 Stars. There was nothing wrong with the service but it was not outstanding. The place was busy but there were many servers working so the service should have been a little better. My wife and I were quite surprised to find a well reviewed sushi place in this area. I didn't think the reviews would be correct except for the fact that folks who gave this place a good review were not all from this area. They also came from places where you could find good sushi. This is what made the decision to eat here. As I said the place was busy so we sat at the sushi bar, they also had a hibachi grill as well. From the start I knew this place was popular not only by the crowded store but also the fact they had 4 sushi chefs working. I had never seen more than 3 in any one place. I started with some Miso Soup. I can usually tell a lot about a sushi place by the soup. If it is well flavored they have used a good amount of Dried Bonito Shavings when making the Ichiban Dashi (Number One Stock, the fish stock used as the base of the soup). It was OK but not very strong. This told me they were frugal as the fish shavings are pretty expensive. My wife had a Seaweed Salad. It was large and very tasty. The also added Cucumbers to the salad which worked well. I ordered for us both an app of Tempura Fried Asparagus. The Asparagus was cut into small pieces battered and fried and then lightly sauced with Eel sauce and the spicy mayo sauce. This dish was a winner. Very tasty and fun to eat. Not very Japanese but good. My wife loves tuna so I ordered her some and also ordered her some Toro (fatty tuna). They were out of toro so she didn't get that but she did say the tuna was very good, some of the best she has had in a while. I got some flying fish roe, surf clam and eel, all of which were very good. We also ordered one of their "special" rolls, they had many. The roll was called "Fire On The Bayou". This was very good as well. All in all we had a great experience and will go back when in the area.

I've been twice now with my young son after veiwing art at Nicholls state and have enjoyed it both times. The sushi is very good and they have a nice little boat moat if you sit at the sushi bar (which is why we do).....I was a little put off by the Walmart corelle plate that the sushi was served on, but that did not happen the fist time and it certainly did not deter from the quality of the food which was excellant for a bayou sushi joint.....It's not San Francisco or L.A. but this girl is coming back!

I really loved this place. My daughter told me about it but never did care for sushi, but I really enjoyed it. The NSU rolls are to die for, If you don't like raw fish this is the one for you.

Forget the cajunized name and similarly themed dishes. This place serves up delicious sushi. Why the localized names on the rolls are a bit much, they are worth a recommendation. The NSU roll, named after Nicholls State University is a must try.
