We were in need of a place to stop shortly after crossing in to Louisiana, and decided to do a quick Yelp search. Le bleu seemed to fit the bill good reviews, Cajun and affordable. Don't let the dated decor discourage you! We passed on the buffet and ordered off the menu. The po boy was outstanding and the étouffée was the best we've ever had. Our waitress was very friendly, and the tab was reasonable. Strongly recommend!

EXCELLENT SERVICE! Our waitress was very accommodating and friendly, my friend ordered the jambalaya but didn't like it and she offered to take it off the bill. I got the shrimp po boy which was classic and very good. Overall the food was good.

Lump Crab cakes with remoulade sauce: 10 bucks for 2. Each the size of a hockey puck. The menu said pan seared. The uniform light beige-gray crust would indicate deep fry. I have no argument other that the taste and texture of a pan seared crust would be a bit different and pleasantly so. The "thing" itself was typical of a well crafted crab cake with the dressing being the predominant ingredient. Yes, the crab is "lumped" as the menu describes. Fried Green tomatoes: Medium to light crust. Subtle but discernible pepper sting. The encased green tomato was moist and firm to the bite. Flavor was well preserved coming through with a very pleasant citric pop. Po'boy shrimp: three components to this sandwich 1) shrimp 2) bread 3) dressing. Shrimp. I was impressed. Abundant, AKA, "over-stuffed." Fresh and firm in flavor and texture. Coating was the same I tasted on the FGT's. That was good. Bread. Not the real thing BUT, a ton better than the limpie-wimpie pseudo-bread of most eateries not in NOLA. Dressing: looked good and was generous. BTW, the size of the sandwich was approached beastly. Good bang for the buck Home made onion rings: the waitress suggested we try their home made rings. Interesting similarity to the FGT's. The onion's moisture, texture and flavor was preserved within this perfect crust These rings are quite unique. The Sausage Link, a local butcher and sausage maker is attached to this establishment. One stop shopping for the gastronomic explorer.

Back for a second try. The crawfish were Wow! and the price wasn't bad now 5# for $21. Yam sticks were a nice surprise-crispy with a touch of powdered sugar. 'Glad I tried again.

Ate here two weekends ago, and still somewhat mid season on crawfish, but theirs were huge and delicious. Great service as well.

I love LeBleu's. I consider myself a picky eater, but if I want a buffet, I go here. The bread pudding off the menu, is really good too! One of the only buffet places I like to go, that I don't feel like I waste my money at.

  • Byron L.

Crawfish was absolutely amazing. Reminds me of home cooked and the service was even better can't beat the crawfish from here.

Stopped here for crawfish on my way back to Houston. Crawfish was 3 lbs for 12 bucks and that included a corn and 2 potatoes. I ordered 3lbs and a boudain ball. Crawfish were a very nice size but they could have been seasoned a little spicier for me. The boudain ball was awesome. I noticed they had a buffet and I am not a buffet person, but this was small setup with what looked to be good ole southern home cooking! The fried chicken legs looked and smelled wonderful and so did the meatloaf. When I am back in town I will definitely go and hit up the buffet.

Not the best buffet experience I have ever had. The chicken fried steak was inedible. Gumbo tasted off. Not sure what was going on there. The mashed potatoes had solidified and has a crust on all side. Disappointing. Maybe the regular menu is better?

  • Chrissy H.

I ordered 3lbs of crawfish. They were nice size but lacked ALOT in seasoning. Super bland. My husband ordered the $25 buffet that included crawfish as well. The crawfish served on the buffet were obviously the smallest run. It was quite ridiculous that they only serve the tiniest crawfish to the $25 buffet patrons! It's a nice new place with plenty of seating. The experience was not terrible, but I wouldn't go there for crawfish again.

The locals seem to like it but I'm not sure why. Service is very friendly but the food is some of the most unremarkable I've ever had. The buffet has all the charm of a corpse. Friend shrimp is quite good, boudin balls are nothing special. Hush puppies are fine. I would not happily go back.

Le Bleus was an enjoyable experience. Certainly not the best Cajun food I've ever had, but definitely worth the trip. The wait staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. My food was well seasoned and delivered hot. The Food: I had pan seared flounder, which was excellent, sautéed green beans, and boudin balls. I had never had boudin before coming to Le Bleus and for my first experience I couldn't have asked for more. The Verdict: Le Bleus is definitely one of the best Cajun food restaurants in Sulphur, Louisiana and if you are in the area it is well worth the detour.

We went for dinner and got the seafood buffet. It was a little pricey at $22 per person, but most of the entrees on the menu were close to that price anyway. There was a large variety of items on the buffet including salad items, soups/gumbo, shrimp ettoufee, sauce picante, crawfish pasta, fried fish, fried shrimp, boiled shrimp, fried frog legs, fried clams, fried zucchini sticks, homemade creamed corn (this was really yummy!), green beans, etc. They also had cake for dessert. We were really pleased with the buffet. The only thing missing was bread or hushpuppies. It seems that the restaurant could offer complimentary bread or hushpuppies with the buffet. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and came over to our table at least 10 times during our meal to check on us and refill drinks. I would definitely go back to this restaurant when in Sulphur area or when driving through since it's right off of the interstate and really easy to get there. There is also a gift shop that sells local items, Cajun gifts, and good homemade pies. The buttercream pie is yummy! If you're looking for some good Cajun food, you definitely won't be disappointed.

I made the mistake of getting the buffet. I'm not a fan of food sitting around...this probably would have been better hot and fresh. Most of its fried, but the Gumbo had some good spice. Staff was excellent and the location is convenient. Worth stopping in next time to try some food straight from the kitchen.

  • Shawn L.

Will give them another shot at another time but this trip was just okay. While the crawfish were huge they were a bit overcooked and tough. For sure not the best I have ever had. I do want to try them again and try a few menu items though.

  • John P.

We went here to try the food as we wanted something different. We had heard it was very expensive....it was not, we did the dinner buffet and it was all fresh and well seasoned. The catfish was wonderful. The creamy mashed potatoes were so yummy. I had allot of the boudin as it was yummy. All in all a good visit. Going back tonight for crawfish!

  • Vonda P.

We had buffet. Everything had unique flavors which was good since some of the restaurants in the area use same seasoning on everything resulting in everything tasting the same. Boudin rice dressing fried catfish shrimp etoufee sausage red gravy. Mac n cheese was even good. For the price 12 bucks it was a really good deal. We will be going back for crawfish. They looked really good. And smelled good too.

We ate here when they had just opened as Le Bleus and were disappointed ... Decided to give them another try and am thrilled we did! Food was EXCELLENT and waitresses are super friendly and helpful. Great service! Yummy food! Order their steak and shrimp and you'll leave happy happy happy

We went back & ordered from the menu. Huge grilled shrimp were fresh & tasty. Loved the boudin balls and yam sticks. Must try the bacon-wrapped boudin! Hubby loved the shrimp etouffe. Service was just okay, would like my drink refilled faster & silverware available right away. Buffet seems hit & miss. Expensive seafood buffet (~$25 on Fri & Sat pm only) that mostly consists of fried shrimp & fish & fries, regular buffet Sun lunch & dinner Mon-Thur is just okay but more reasonably priced.

  • Jason Z.

More like 3.5 stars. Service was great, quick to be seated, quick to be served drinks and never let my drink go empty. Opted for the buffet which was probably a bad decision. Felt like the food was dry so most likely sat there for a little. Most of the items were fried too. However, ordered the boudin balls and the flavor was good. Recommend staying away from the buffet and opting for something on the menu.

The shrimp and crab gumbo had NO crab it. The shrimp were small and flavorless. The etouffee was just okay. Portions are huge. Meh.

Lived in SW LA eating seafood all my life (54) and after my first visit here, i can say definitively the food was delicious and the service was spot on. Had the seafood platter. It was an absolute bargain and the quality exceeded most other restaurants Let me add i work in Houston and am able to eat at their finest weekly. Lebleu's food is as delicious as any other

Pros: food was excellent! I was staying in Lake Charles on business, and was looking for some good seafood. The buffet looked good, but I wanted to ensure fresh food, so I ordered from the menu. Everything was fresh and delicious flavored. Would return based on food alone. Cons: it took FOREVER to get my food. I went early evening, like 5:45-ish. There were only a couple other people there at this time, which should mean no wait. Ordered from the menu, and roughly 45-50 minutes later!!! got my food. It's a darn good thing it was so good, otherwise this review would be completely different.

Awesome food & fantastic service! Excellent seafood buffet on Friday & Saturday nights! Gumbo is awesome.

  • Rachelle F.

The lunch buffet sounds cool for only $9.99, but everything I wanted was not on the buffet. I ordered fried green tomatoes which were very well cooked, and the portion was huge. I also ordered the fried oyester platter. The food was fresh, hot and very well flavored. I'll definitly return on my next trip to Lake Charles. Our waitress was good, but she charged the wrong bill to my credit card (and the another guest was charged for my food). She quickly corrected it. Word to the wise: Always check your bill!

LeBleu's is a decent, Southern-upscale Cajun seafood restaurant. Here, you will receive the famous warm southern hospitality from the awesome waiting staff in a clean plantation home esque setting. Unfortunately, the food itself fell short. The restaurant offers both a buffet option and a menu order option. For $9.99, you can eat at the buffet, which changes everyday so you should definitely take a walk by there to see what's serving before deciding what to do. I wasn't feeling in a buffet mood, so I ordered the six fried gulf shrimp dish ($13.99), which came with two sides. My choice of sides were cole slaw and sweet potato fries, and I was especially partial to the fries because it had a nice hint of cinnamon to give the fries some personality. However, I was very disappointed at the size of the shrimp for the price I paid. The shrimps were fresh but they are smaller than average. They were probably the smallest shrimps I have ever ordered in a seafood restaurant. In conclusion, -Great service and great setting -Take a look at the buffet to decide if you want to order or buffet BUT -Disappointing food

Wow... Located in Sulphur, LA, right off of Interstate 10 (Exit 20), this unassuming restaurant / meat market is the real deal. The prices are very, very reasonable. They do have a lunch buffet but we decided to order off of the menu. The wife and I both had a cup of the Seafood & Crab Gumbo. The Gumbo is probably as authentic as you will find anywhere. We also shared a plate of Craw-fish Etouffee with onion rings and Boudin Balls. The Gumbo was good but the Craw-fish Etouffee was even better. One of my Aunts used to live in New Iberia and she would make us Etouffee when we were kids. This was as good as hers if not better. Wow.. The Boudin Balls were also quite good. In the same building, they have a meat market section, selling both refrigerated and frozen meats, in addition to 'Cracklins' as well as assorted roux and marinades. Cracklins, for those of you who don't know, are a Cajun/creole version of pork rinds. Much tastier than pork rinds though. The meat market also sells an assortment of marinated and Cajun stuffed meats. They also have a large assortment of sausages and Boudin to choose from. I would personally recommend the stuff Pork Tenderloin, wrapped in bacon. The prices are very reasonable. Come hungry and give this place a try. You won't regret it...
