Slidell has seriously been lacking in good sushi restaurants. Seriously. But thanks to Sogo that's a thing of the past. You wouldn't know it judging by the outside, but this sushi restaurant is totally legit. The owners are so sweet and genuinely love what they do. The service is always impeccable. Most importantly, the food is delicious. I recommend the hibachi chicken and shrimp for sure. I love all of the rolls I've ever tried here as well and the sashimi platter is truly a work of art. If you have a hankering for some great Japanese cuisine look no further than Sogo.

Great place to have a great meal! The service is good, the atmosphere is chill, and the food is delicious. You can choose to sit on the side with hibachi or on the side to just order sushi; you'll be pleased with either.

Great hibachi! Very friendly staff. The location is not near many other restaurants and therefore it is almost never over crowded. I prefer the filet and scallops. I have had the sushi but prefer the hibachi at this location. The dinner portion is really big and usually gets taken home for next days lunch, which is even better.

as one of the first japanese restaurants I've ever eaten at BESIDES at an all inclusive hotel in Mexico, this place was good. and I barely eat this kind of food, which I should eat more of because I'm pretty sure it's healthier then Italian? lol. anyway I will for sure be back one day! at least I hope so..... next time in the area! and yummy drinks. the sushi was so good and I never eat sushi.

I've debated writing this for a few days. I won't give all the details so message me if you want to know. I've had cleaner food in countries without any health standards. Health department should be notified. To be fair, they took the plate I ordered off my bill and offered to replace it. But after that experience, I could never take anything from their kitchen and never will again.

We picked this restaurant to celebrate a family birthday based on other Yelp reviews. We did the hibachi. The chef was friendly and put on a great show. The food was delicious with better than average portion sizes. We will be back!

My family and I visit SoGo at least 3-4 times a week. We love the staff and the owner... Great people! The sushi is some of the best in Slidell and it's quite reasonably priced. I do however think they need to do a complete overhaul on the building... Exterior, bathrooms, kitchen etc.

We were driving back to New Orleans after a day at the beach and searched for hibachi grills in the area. SOGO was highly recommended by the reviews here so we decided to try it. Wow what a find. The hibachi was awesome - definitely the best we have had in the New Orleans area and only second best to the best ever! Service by Mr Wong was fun and friendly and his cooking was outstanding. Everything, including the restrooms (which to me is always a good sign), was clean. Thanks other reviewers - We will be back!

First sushi in Slidell. Pretty good quality and the prices are also not terrible. I can't wait to go back for more! I was so confused as to what a 'sushi box' could be. We ordered it hoping it was a bento box. But it ended up being a fat roll with your choice of meat on top the inside was imitation crab. Not the best but filling! Happy hour is dine in only but a good deal. 3-6pm. I will be hitting it up soon.

Comfortable clean atmosphere. Very reasonably priced & eclectic menu for a wide variety of taste. Sushi is very fresh & food from the kitchen has been above expected in all aspects. Waitstaff is very helpful & efficient. Ive always had a pleasurable experience here.

This place surprised me for sure!!! Awesome service! The experience was amazing! Our server was funny and very entertaining the food was superb. They are very attentive and I will def. be making this place a regular!!!

The outside of the building is nothing to brag about...very plain and boring. In fact, I passed up this place for almost a year because of how drab it looked on the outside. I finally decided to check it out after reading the reviews on Yelp...so glad I did. The inside is clean, new-looking, and beautifully decorated. The service is outstanding...fast and friendly, just how I like it. I come here weekly to get my fill on some of my favorites...Eel sushi, Unagi Don, American Dream roll, Fish Katsu, and the Shrimp tempura...the best you will find in Slidell.

Ahhh (church bells) I finally found a decent sushi place in Slidell. I love this place, sometimes I would dine in twice a week. It's ridiculously good! The servers are a little slow but the owner is such a sweet guy. My family and I eat here so often that he always comes by to greet us and gives us a salad on the house! Wooot. My favorites: Sashimi salad (comes with a creamy sauce) but I always get with a side of ponzu sauce Sogo Roll which is wrapped with soy paper and loaded with everything is that good for you (asparagus, imitation crabmeat, tuna, shrimp tempura, avocado, smelt roe, crunchy) Baked seafood roll has cooked salmon on the outside, but has imitation crab, avocado and cream cheese on the inside. (a little on the rich side) And last but not least habachi rice. I always order a whole plate to myself ^_____^

This review is strictly from a previous experience with customer service: We've passed this place up more than 10 dozen times and finally realized it offered Habichi. I would actually say it's pretty good 3/5. JayJay is our favorite waiter and he is awesome! We have been over 6 times but We recently had a bad experience there from a hostess who walked us to our seat. We followed her and she walked between the two Habichi stations and as we were passing through she says watch your step (which was way too late), my boyfriend almost takes a spill and she says "I warned ya." She then argued with me for a good three min after I told her it was probably a good idea to walk people around the table so no one slips. Obviously as she told us, it was going to put her out of her way to turn the stoves on. It's probably a good thing she doesn't own the place. Our waiter apologized cleaned it up and said the chef had a butter spill. If your hostess has curly hair don't follow her! Horrible

I am constantly eating here (probably because it's around the corner) and I can't get enough! The sushi is always delicious and the service is ALWAYS excellent. Whether you dine-in or get it to-go you'll never be unsatisfied. Two thumbs up from this gal!

My family and I visited last Thursday night when another sushi restaurant in town was too crowded. There were 12 of us. The outside of the building leaves a lot to be desired, but the inside is nice and clean. We were seated immediately and the service was excellent. The food was great! We would definitely go back again!

Mediocre to below average at best. The food was good but I have had much much better. The service was terrible. In fact, they forgot to bring my entree until I asked about the order.

The outside is plain and misleading. The inside is clean, fresh, healthy, and delicious. I was craving a healthy protein dish, and I found that in the Sashimi salad. My partner said that they made the best Yakisoba noodles he's ever had, and he's eaten a lot of Yakisoba. Our waiter was a friendly Japanese man who appears to have acclimated very well to American customers. Nice guy, fast service. I must add that the hostess was courteous and had a beaming smile. Another Asian Slidell favorite for a reasonable price ($25 for two people). I'm craving it as I write.

Tried the hibachi lunch. Service was ok, food was ok. Typical salad and broth soup. Veggies had WAY too much soy sauce-very salty. Fried rice had a similar flavor as the broth, which actually was a little strange in the rice. The chicken and steak however, were perfect! Not the greatest hibachi I've had, but not the worst either.

Love this place. Didn't even know I was looking for a new sushi place ... but I found it anyway. Every roll so far is a "keeper". Can't wait to go back again and again to try every one. Our server Kim made us feel like we were already the regulars we intend to be. In Slidell? So go! What are you waiting for?

A friend recommended this awesome place, and we love it! I love the fact that you don't have to wait for a table to fill at the hibachi grill. The grill is excellent, not as salty as their cross town rival. The sushi is fresh, and the rolls very creative. Excellent customer service, the servers are more than happy to explain dishes. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food. It's open seven days a week, so I can go indulge my cravings any time.

Very good sushi. Very fresh. Nice presentation. Friendly staff. Don't judge this book by it's cover because it does look a little cheap on the outside and inside. Not a "high end" sushi bar by looks if your looking to impress your first date. Unless that is she is not high maintenance and prefers quality of food over everything else.
