It's an Outback. One of the better ones that I've ever been to, but still an Outback. You've eat an Outback before. You know what's good. You know you love that Alice Springs chicken. You know they're gonna have Foster's on tap and usually a Sam Adams or two. THIS Outback has an extraordinarily wonderful front of the house manager with great staff in the front and back of the house. One thing I will say though, is that the new "modern" decor sucks. It sucks BIG time. They should go back to the good old Outback with Australian themes, boomerangs and dijeridoo's on the walls and stuff. The "new" decor REALLY sucks. Other than that, everything else here is good!

The Victoria's filet was cooked rare as asked and was a good cut of filet (as it better be -although this is not Flemings or Ruth Chris), however the French Onion Soup (not on the menu) was a bit saltier than I'm used to. They kept the drinks coming, and our waiter (Jordan) was patient (poor guy had to repeat the steak options more than twice heh) and attentive. It was not busy and I was a bit hesitant to try steak in a seafood area but I got exactly what I ordered and everyone left full and happy with their meal.

I live in Algiers, on the Westbank in New Orleans, and I routinely drive to Slidell to go to THIS Outback, even though we have several closer to us, this restaurant is outstanding and far exceeds any other Outback we have been to in our area. We have gotten up and walked out and paid for just drinks at the Outback in Metairie, and we have had some of the worst food and service at the Outback in Marrero, but at the Outback in Slidell, we have always had excellent service and tremendous food. We went most recently on March 10th this year in honor of my daughter's father's birthday. This was the last restaurant we all went to as a family. He passed away in 2013 and this was our way of celebrating him :). We return here often, and we have never had an issue. They treated my daughter to an Oreo shake when they found out why we were there and why we refused to sit at another table even though the light was shining RIGHT in my eyes. The manager (I wish I could remember her name), and our server were so kind to us on such a somber occasion, I couldn't have asked for nicer people or better food. Thanks so much and I look forward to coming back again and again!

Rib eye sandwich. My bf ate a piece he dropped on the table (my biggest petpeeve). When I fussed, he says "I want to eat the little bit of meat that I actually got!" I posted a picture. It's ridiculous. We actually paid for that? Yes. But never again!

So disappointed. My husband and I went early (5:30 pm) on a Saturday to have a date night. We waited almost 10 minutes to see our server another 20 minutes to get our appetizer (which you could tell had been sitting a minute) then another 20 minutes for our food. The steaks had no flavor and were really bland. The best part the margarita (10 minutes after I ordered) the Caesar salad and the baked potato. Next time we will just go to Texas Roadhouse.

This place is terrible. I have given it 3 times. I'm done. Outback used to be my all time favorite. I don't know if it's just this one in Slidell or if they've all gone down hill. We were greeted at the door with the not so friendly hostess. The waiting area seating looks like it came from the side of the road, it's tattered and torn and a huge mess. Come on it's a chain can't they get new seats or at least get the trash stuff recovered? We had to wait 10 minutes, yet the place was almost empty. (A bad sign because it was dinner time) The floor all the way back to our table was STICKY! I was wearing flip flops and had to fight to keep them on my feet. We honestly should have turned around and left. Texas Roadhouse is almost right next door (They are actually my new favorite chain type restaurant) Our waitress was a young girl and not friendly or helpful, I love the bread it took forever to get it. She said she would bring it with my daughter's salad. Used to we got the bread before anything sometimes even before drinks came, I guess not anymore. Speaking of drinks refills were almost non existent I honestly choked and was looking around at my family's drinks to grab a drink they had nothing either. I was drinking the bottom, melty part of everyone's drinks to stop my choking. The blooming onion the last 3 times has been awful. This time was the worst. It was extra, extra brown. The cooking oil is in desperate need of changing, No wonder Outback always gives free onions, because they're nasty! Unfortunately we paid for ours. The shrimp wasn't so bad but our waitress brought no sauce for it, when she did she assumed everyone wanted the volcano sauce nope she was wrong. Steaks were really chewy. Actually I took almost my entire steak home even my cats won't eat it. I'm done with Outback, its sad. This was my go to Birthday, Mothers Day and Hey I just want some good food and don't want to cook tonight place. So sad Outback now sucks. UPDATE!!!! My daughter is the only one at our table to have a Salad. She spent the entire night extremely sick! Food poisoning type sick. I'm calling corporate today

Sat at the bar with my family and had a great meal. Michelle the bartender was fantastic. Very attentive and explained everything. She really took care of us. The food was great. One steak had to be returned and it was replaced ASAP as ordered. Manager came by and was very helpful to all. Much better than the previous post in September.

It's an awful lunch today: This Outback couldn't handle a crowd. There was a party of 20+ today which ,of course, cause delay but I've seen bigger crowds in Texas Roadhouse and haven't seen this chaos. Anyways, we were finally seated - - We already had our orders set while waiting so we got our order in right away. We ordered one bloomin onion but told our server to put all our orders in and not just the appetizer. The good things: the bloomin onion was indeed good (my 1st time), well seasoned and crunchy and they served the kids' meals quickly. The bad side: The server obviously did not put the order in since it took another half an hour to get the entrees. My friend's steak was overcooked. My cobb salad was not cobb at all - they just added chicken to the side salad. The fish on the mixed grill was tiny and nowhere near the size shown in the picture and indicated in the menu. What is the deal with this steakhouse not knowing the temp of the meat? We ate here a month ago and I ordered medium which also came well done. They lost two families as customers today. We are not planning to come back. At least, not in the near future.

Ok, should have known better than going here after 7 on a Friday night but we were hungry and it wasn't a far drive from home in picayune. We settle at sitting at the bar after being told there was a 45 minute wait and that was fine. We did get a free coconut shrimp after mentioning outback bowl which were delish. After that we ordered dinner of one ribeye medium and 2 Victoria's filets(one 6 and one 8 oz), both med rare. I didn't know that they changed the menu and took off the horseradish crumb crust(one of the best parts of the menu setting it apart from Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn) and asked if they had it. The bartender said he would check. The steaks came out and the ribeye was somewhere between rare and med rare. No big deal. The 'filet' that I ordered looked like a thick cut of meat except when I cut into it, it was rare and very tough to cut in to and had nothing horseradish on it at all. When I asked, the bartender left and said he would check like he forget to ask in the first place. He came back saying it wasn't available but that he had some kind of horseradish sauce I could try. After sending them back to get cooked more, the manager brings out the ribeye and stands there while we are cutting into it. It was fine. The 'filet' comes back and after sawing into it, the color was fine. I struggled to cut another piece and tried to eat the rubber that was on the plate. I asked my dad to cut into the 'filet' and he was also stunned. The other bartender seeing us struggling came and asked if everything was ok. I mentioned that it was a very tough 'filet' and our bartender come out of the background to say that he heard me say sirloin. Who would order a med rare sirloin and if you would I applaud you since that was like sawing rubber and chewing a shoe. Well after this is realized, they throw away the sirloin and I wasn't even sure if I could eat another steak. They placed the order for the filet and it came out after everyone had finished eating making it awkward to sit there and eat. I ate the steak only and we asked for our check. No one came over to see if we were ok or nothing after that point and our check was corrected and the new filet was added instead of the sirloin. I surprised at how the whole ordeal was handled and not even that the manager came back to see how we were doing towards the end. The bartender originally waiting on us didn't return again after the ordeal and we were pretty sure he was hiding in the back. Disappointing experience!

I can't even pretend to lie...I like Outback. I know, I know. It's a chain. You know what though? I don't really get the whole thing about not liking a place just because it's a chain. In my mind if they are doing well enough to open multiple locations...then they're doing something right. Outback Steakhouse does plenty of things right. The bread and butter? Check. Blooming onion? Check. Alice Springs Chicken? Yummy Check. Steak? (You should get the kids out of the room now) Yes..oh yes...ohhhhh...yeah. Check. Oh..yes. The food is great. The service is great. The atmosphere is great. Outback is great.

Ordered takeout for dinner very early during the day today so it would be ready to pick up on my way home around 8:00pm. Everything was hot and ready on time and as ordered. Last week, came during lunch time with my best friend and we had to alert the hostess that we had been seated for 10 minutes and the waiter had not come to take our drink orders. The hostess got our drinks. Food was good as always, though onion blossom slightly overcooked. Steak ordered medium rare, cooked perfectly, seasoned well, salad fresh. If not for the slow service, 5 stars. Plenty of parking, has station next door, right off interstate, though a little difficult to get to due to congestion from merging at the red light. Also, must cross 3 lanes of congestion to get to the light to turn left into parking lot when coming from New Orleans. From the other direction take a left off interstate and you will be at the aforementioned pesky red light that is 90% congested.

Traveling cross-country. Stopped in Slidell for the night. Ordering on line was quick and easy. Very friendly, helpful service at pickup. Once back at hotel, I found that the vegetable side that I ordered and paid for was missing. Ribeye was cooked to order but quite a bit of fat and grizzle. Rest ok. Pretty hit and miss at prices that make you expect better. Disappointing.

Very disappointing. Bread was stale, did not get a lot of sauce for our Blooming Onion, and our entrees were terrible. I ordered a Grilled Shrimp Caesar salad, and I got an over-seasoned shrimp salad drowning in dressing. My fiancé ordered a sirloin steak with fries. He ordered his steak medium, and he got his steak and it was rare. Also the amount of fries he got was a joke. I rated this restaurant two stars because when we complained to our waitress she gave almost all of our money back.I think this was the last time we will ever visit this location.

I will NEVER go back!!! Live in slidell and have been here many times. It gets worse each time. The staff at the front door were a little rude in my opinion, like they were doing us a favor by seating us. Were not greeted when we walked in and they were not that busy. My husband and I went there for my birthday. Although our waitress was nice...she came and sat at our table to take our order...I didn't expect that. I got the beef tips and they were so tuff I could barely chew them. My husband got a ribeye and he said we could cook that better at home. The steamed veggies were good. We tried this place one more time last week. Our waiter was wonderful but the food was not...never again

Me and my love are staying out here in south for a bit originally from the nyc boros. Went to eat at Outback Steak house in Slidell near interstate 10 the Gause Blvd exit for Easter lunch. The blooming onion here has taken a nose dive into the greaser WOW super greasy had to send back. Maybe a metal drip basket (this used to be the must have app) would come in handy for the kitchen. Our server took it back and asked if we would like to try anything else we had the crab and avacado with nacho appitizer which was good. My hunny ordered a burger med well with cheddar and bacon..The burger was so well done and dry that to send back another item would have embarrassed us when the person who should have been embarrassed was the so called chef. He or She had payed no attention to detail or the food leaving the kitchen. Sure wish our server would have mentioned the $1 up charge for cheddar and $1 up charge for bacon i guess we should just assume the extra charge for these items. I ordered a burger as well med rare with blu cheese the burger was cooked to order with literally 5 small blu cheese crumbles on top :( I Love blu cheese so once again disappointed. My experience was mediocre. Prob wont go back.

The food is good here but the portions are small for the price. Stock up on the free brown bread ... that stuff is awesome.

We always love eating here. We love the bread, service and atmosphere are very good quality! The potato soup is amazing. The Alice springs chicken is my favorite dish and my fiancé always gets the serloin. For the price it's a good steak! Can't beat the prices here.

I don't normally post negatives but this was not what we expected from Outback steakhouse. We rec'd a $50 gift card during Dec. holidays & my brother came from out of town to see his girlfriend in Covington so since my hubby & I live in NOLA, we met 1/2 way in Slidell. So there was a party of 4 people My brother & his girl, & my hubby & myself. First of all, the waiter I have to say was trying to be nice & helpful. Then my brother's girl said the salad tasted like chemicals. I said, "they must not have organic veggies". We had shared an onion mum which was too soggy to really enjoy...I mean we did the best we could - we actually rec'd a coupon for the mum. So I guess beggar's can't be choosy. right? Then the waiter said that he would send the chef that prepared the salad. The lady came out & did NOT apologize, she just made excuses saying "sometimes salads have anchovies & it tastes different". Even though I had not tasted her salad I quickly said "anchovies had nothing to do with this salad" because it was a Caesar salad. She did offer to give her another salad. No courtesy apology. Come to think of it, my salad was lacking & skimpy looking lettuce but what do you expect when now I eat organic spinach everyday. Haven't eaten lettuce in years. I have to say though that the steak was tender & delicious. We ordered a huge steak - shared 1/2 of it (sirloin side) & 1/2 we took home (ribeye portion). I guess it was the company that made the evening. The sides were not up to par, the mashed potatoes were not the usual great hot tasty flavor but the artichokes saved the day. No dessert. We were just there b/c my brother was in town. They ended up coming over to our home for a light dessert & lemonade. I guess I had been spoiled at a great Outback's that we had visited while my hubby was working in Jackson, MS. I guess all Outback's are not equal.

It has indeed been a long time since I've been to an Outback. And this most recent visit proved to me that my family and I should make an effort to return. In the near decade since I've eaten at this chain, they updated the interior, but made everything low lit. The food was just as good as I remember, but with one caveat: No amount of spicing will overcome the preservative taste of non-fresh shrimp. My wife said her tilapia was delicious, though. And although the shrimp were less than stellar, my steak more than made up for it. My son loved his chicken fingers (although it takes a lot to screw up chicken fingers). To round out the evening, my son and I had the sundae, which was excellent. Lastly, I would love to give a shout out to Ray, our wonderful server. He was conscientious and attentive, and willing to put up with minor requests (The Boy could not stop eating the yummy bread). Will definitely go back!

Service was excellent, thanks Loren! We had the wood fired ribeye. It was cooked as ordered. We will visit again!

So hopeful that this visit would be different but we were disappointed yet again. Servers are overwhelmed and its reflected in the service (or lack thereof). Wish I could say the food was good but, I just can't. The grilled shrimp Caesar salad was so very strong, I just couldn't make it they the whole dish. Spices on the grilled shrimp overpowering! There was sooo much dressing, it pooled at the bottom of the plate. Here's a tip: Sometimes less is more. Oh and it's not cool for wait staff to complain about their work load to every table. I just can't understand why they are so busy...

I like this location. Its right by applebees and texas roadhouse but never as horribly overcrowded as them. The servers are always lovely and funny. Food is promptly served. The bread is yum. Unlike many chain restaurants they are able to assist you with special dietary needs ie low sodium. They regularly have tasty specials at good rates!

I generally have great service here, but recently I had the worst service by a waiter in the history of my dining patronage...I was prompted to write a letter to management. Avoid the waiter "Ronny" at all costs!!!
