Hmm. Did I eat at a different place than the other reviewers? Food was just ok. Portions were really small. Like appetizers. This isn't that kind of place where the food is so rich and perfect two bites is enough to keep you dreaming for a month. No wonder the prices seemed so low. But they are not billed as "small plates". If I order a salad I would like more than a garnish of arugula. I'm not going to list what we had because it was so unremarkable. But I would still have given 3 stars. Why only 2 then? The service was very lacking. We were a party of 9 but we had a reservation and we were there at 11am. We were the only customers for the first 45 minutes. They knew we were coming, they should have turned the stove on at 10:30. The waiter was ok but kind of young. He did his best. But our food came out a couple of dishes at a time with at least five minutes in between, some longer. And they forgot the last sandwich. The excuse? The "kitchen had been out late last night" and they had drunk too much. What? We were very disappointed. Will not go back.

We found ourselves in old town Slidell on a Friday afternoon with some time to kill, so we wandered into Christopher's On Carey for a quick, light lunch. Christopher did not disappoint. The turtle soup was especially memorable, with deep layers of complex flavor, made perfect by the optional slog of sherry that the waiter offered to pour into the soup. My dining companions had a house salad and a chicken salad, and both were great. The restaurant is small but elegant, with white tablecloths, abstract art, and a well-trained waitstaff. A daily special of trout puttanesca looked great, but had been 86'd by the time we got there. If you're looking for a fancy lunch or dinner in old Slidell, Christopher's On Carey is your place.

Great (really great) food. Nice atmosphere. The turtle soup was amazing. I had this pork sandwich with jalapeno jelly that was outstanding. Just happened across this place on Yelp as we were driving to airport in New Orleans on our way back from business trip in Biloxi. So glad we stumbled across this place. Crab cake salad was outstanding too.

I have been to Christopher's on Carey's four or five times now. The lunch menu is extremely reasonably priced, and the service is quick, attentive and very personable. Dinner is a little bit more pricey, but not unreasonable. I think the best dishes are usually the daily specials, and Christopher, the chef, does an excellent job of using locally sourced ingredients. If they are available, depending on the season, the beet salad and scallops are hands down two of the best items there. Go for anything seafood related if not!

I moved to Slidell last August (2012) and have been salivating every time I pass this restaurant. I viewed the menu several times online and couldn't wait to be here. Walking in, I was greeted very nicely and immediately seated. Unfortunately, for Christopher's on Carey, there were only two other people in the dining room. It was lunch time and I know they do a great business at night and on weekends. I ordered the spinach and apple salad to start. Pecans, cranberries, and bleu cheese were the perfect accompaniments and the port vinaigrette was excellent. The spinach was so fresh and the vinaigrette was the perfect amount for the salad. The apple crisp and Brie sandwich is delicious. I've never had a "crisp" apple or any apple for that matter on a sandwich , but the mix of the apple, melted Brie, and spinach on multigrain bread was spot on. It was served with a choice of a side. I chose the coleslaw which turned out to be a vinegar based slaw, which I don't care for, so I don't have anything to say about that! The restaurant has these awesome exposed wooden beams and the ambiance (i.e. chair fabric, flooring) seemed a little dated for my taste, but that's just my personal opinion. It has no reflection on the superiority of the food. Lisa was my server and she was prompt, attentive but not overbearing. In other words, my favorite kind of server. The manager Greg is super nice (I had a drink in there a week ago) and we talked for a while. Today he made a reservation for me and my mom for Mother's Day. Definitely check out this wonderful restaurant in Olde Towne. I just had lunch. I can't wait to have dinner.

I have been in slidell for about five months (from california) and have done most of my fine dining in new orleans. eating here was probably the best meal i've had. i got one of the specials, something to the effect of shrimp and scallops between puff pastry with a garlic cream sauce. they have reinvigorated my desire for scallops. desert was the apple tarte tatin. absolutely delicious, conscious of each bite. it reminded me of something my mom made. i don't even know when the last time i did a restaurant review on yelp, but this place inspired me (as well as greg's sazerac and old fashioned.) i have one week left in slidell and will be eating here again for sure.

Great place! Everything about it is just right. I live in napa valley and go to great restaurants all the time and this place has everything going for it, great food, service and cocktails. The fried oyster BLT changed my life. Yeah it's that good!!!

We returned with some great friends in July. The menu was different and service, as always, smiling and courteous. My husband and I split the crabcakes appetizer and I had a "Special" pan-seared trout while my husband had the filet. All was cooked to perfection and seasoned very well. They seemed to have increased their wine cellar, too!

Ok there aren't that many great places in Slidell to eat but this is definitely one of them! I love this place! The Trout Almandine is a must-have!! It's a huge serving. The service is exemplary. They always pay personal attention to ensure satisfaction. If you're looking for a good place in slidell, make sure you aren't missing out on this place.

Very disappointed in this restaurant. I have had superb meals here in the past, but last week Chris missed the mark. Two of two main entrees not eaten and sent back. The mussels however were spot on. The pompano was served over raw unwilted spinach and lacked seasoning and flavor. The fish had a nice crust but no flavor as well. In the restuarant's defense they offered another entree but it was declined. It is a shame that the food quality has declined here.

Shrimp and penne pasta was delicious. The mixture of wilted spinach, capers, and roma tomatoes makes this dish a winner.
