Twisted Root Burger Co. Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

This is a relatively new burger joint in town, and it's a great place to have a variety of burgers, while also having a beer and/or watching sports. The decor is trendy and cool with guitars, leg lamps, and such. They give me a rock artist's name to be called for my order. The burger itself (I had Ranch hand - swiss cheese with bacon) was quite good on flavorings but maybe on smaller side for $7.99. Wife had a burger salad, and burger patty was over done. They also offer more exotic meats (when available) like buffalo or elk for a$3 per patty up-charge. They also have a large beer selection (see photo), and it's quite a popular place, so my advice (actually the son's) for now is to show up on off hours if possible.

My brother brought me to this joint, because he knows that I'm a fan of creative burgers. For the most part, I applaud his consideration of my favors, but when I think back to my general experience, Twisted Root was good, definitely above average, but not quite worthy for a five-star nod, in my opinion. I'm not a resident of Shreveport or the state of Louisiana outright, so obviously my impression of if it's location is good or not is completely invalid. All I know is that it was fairly easy to get to, and the establishment has a fairly large and spacious space, with a large parking lot with lots of free parking, and basically a backyard with cornhole and a playground for children. I actually have a hard time thinking of what kind of building this was that was repurposed for the restaurant that could have such things readily available. Either way, it was a Saturday evening right at the start of a traditional dinner time. Being a little early, it wasn't difficult to snare two bar seats, and the bartender was amicable enough to chat beers and guide me towards something local and decent, since I try not to lean on familiar crutches, especially when traveling to places I'd never been to before. Ordering is done at a counter, where you will then be given a number, and will have to come back to retrieve when called. That being said, the line can look deceptively long, as towards the front is a cluster-f of people waiting to pick up their orders in the same place where people are waiting to place orders. All of the house specialty burgers have chintzy names like "The Kevin Bacon" or "The Freshman Fifteen" that try to give indication to what might be on them. Ultimately, I went with one whose name wasn't as cool, but had the ingredients that sounded good to me at the time, "The Big Tex:" with guac, fried onion strings, chipotle sauce and cheese. One unique thing about Twisted Root is the abundance of pickles of varying varieties available. This is nice to me, because I love pickles in general, so it's a slight bonus to be able to try things like garlic pickles, jalapeno pickles and stuff like that. As for the burger itself, it was good. Medium was pretty on the money, and it was constructed well enough to actually eat with your hands, and just enough of a mess to need a paper towel or two. Nothing in particular stood out about the burger in general, and everything just kind of blended together. I'm not saying it was bad in the least bit, but it also wasn't a mind-blowing experience that I need to gush about how it deserves 50 stars. Overall, I liked Twisted Root. I could get an above-average quality burger and fries, along with a few beers and walk out having barely hit the $20 mark, which for such intricate criteria, is pretty good in my book. Service was nice, the space was cool, and if it weren't the hellfire hot summer in which I visited, I could see this place as a fantastic place to sit around and lounge at soaking in suds that I certainly wouldn't mind coming back to the next time I'm in Shreveport.

They have elk and buffalo. Got the elk southern comfort burger. Cooked perfectly and not too busy.

Great burger selection and atmosphere. I went with the recommendation of the staff. Tried the sexy Hawaiian burger: burger, jalepano jack cheese, mango salsa, prosciutto, and teriyaki sauce. The flavors when really well with each other and it had the right amount of kick to the jalepano. The fried green beans were a nice fry diversion and weren't soggy but served with a spicy dipping sauce. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. I got a shake to go and was impressed it made it back to the hotel in the 90 degree weather without melting. Had a few bites of it but it was wicked rich so I couldn't finish it either. Great flavor though. The restaurant had an open side if you wanted to sit in the shade as well as a few cor hole games going on. Went during the week so it didn't seem to be so busy but I can imagine weekends and nights are packed.

I've eaten at the Twisted Root in Dallas. I took my grandson who was visiting from Atlanta there after reading the reviews. It was so good we went back with my daughter and her husband, who live in Dallas. When I saw there was one in Shreveport, I had to take my husband. I had a burger on the gluten-free bun. It was fabulous. My husband had a huge burger, fries, and a shake. He ate it all! The atmosphere is wonderful. The food is just as good as the one in Dallas. I will be a frequent guest for sure.

Excellent selection, great service. Loved the atmosphere. It was great with the kids after a long day on the road. I had the build your own beef, pretzel bun, cheddar, teriyaki sauce. Veggies are served on the side. I also go the fried onion strings. They were great. Next time I'll get a shake, grown up style!

What an amazing experience. Great burgers. The pickle bar is the best I have seen. Homemade root beer in the fountain. All around a very great experience. I had the bison burger incredible.

Went last night! Line moves very quickly and all the cool decor distracts you from thinking about waiting in a long line. (10-15 min) tried the buffalo ranch hand, very good! Juicy!! Got the oreo and amaretto shake, really plain and no flavor. Played really good music! Got Chewbacca as my name :) I'll try the kangaroo next! The only downside, cashier didn't ring up the extra ranch and I had to tell the kitchen that I had ordered two extra. She also never rung up my friends toppings he wanted. There was no proof on the receipt. (even if we all heard it) I asked her a question and all I got was a blank stare and a rude I don't know. Fix this problem asap! ***if you order from the bar, DON'T FORGET TO CLOSE YOUR TAB! they add 20% gratuity to all abandoned tabs.

I've already left Twisted Root a fabulous review, but since then, I've had a pretty big life change. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. Basically this means that gluten is poison to my body. So now I will begin to judge places based on how well they handle this disease that affects 1 in 100 people. I heard how wonderful they were with Gluten free options so decided to dive-in to this new (complicated) dining out experience with them. Now, I was nervous. I don't want to alert everyone nearby that I'm an oddity. And I would hope that there is training going on to let food workers know about allergies and disease that pertain to food. Luckily, Twisted Root seemed to be on top of their game. I stressed the importance of cross-contamination and they were amazing. My food was prepared it my tray and even set apart from the rest of my order. Yay! I would like to know what is in the bourbon pickles. I felt as if I asked too many questions, so never asked that. The manager did run in the back and check to make sure the ingredients in the pickles were safe. But since both of us referred to the pickles as "the pickles" I never thought to find out WHICH pickles. I wasn't a fan of the gluten-free bun. But then, I am new to this so maybe it's actually really good in the GF world. I think I'd like to order future burgers wrapped in lettuce- if they do that. And I wonder if they could find a clean spot on the grill, brush a little butter on the bun and grill it first. That would probably help immensely. I REALLY REALLY wish the fries were GF. I'm not sure if it's because the fries are made with something or if they just don't have a dedicated fryer for them. The only option was the sweet potato chips, and they were cold. Fries are everything!!! I think that if I'm craving a burger and fries, that I just may go to Five Guys next time. It'll cost less, and I can have safe fries. But Twisted Root wasn't bad and I would feel confident coming back here were I outvoted.

Amazing restaurant!! Unique, fun atmosphere for the family. Unusual but cool drink options (watermelon tea, pineapple cider) Workers are friendly. Happy hour gives free souvenir glasses with each beer. Just overall fun place to eat with great food too!! You won't be disappointed!

My first meal out in Shreveport. Coming from NYC this was a welcomed surprise. The shakes are awesome and also really heavy. I ordered a banana shake and asked if they could make it half banana, half chocolate. It was perfect. Also ordered the goat cheese burger, which was also really good but the patty was a little overdone for my tastes. Also, PICKLE BAR!! The bourbon bread and butter pickles were my favorite. If anything its a bit pricey, but matches prices in NYC though. TIP: Remember to ask for tomatoes if you want them. I only saw after that they don't automatically include them in the burger.

Buffalo burger is really good. I had it with the "Enough Said" style. My friend got "The Western" and he liked it because of the appropriate size of the bacon. Be adventurous here!

Definitely the best burger place in town! They have really high quality ingredients and delicious food. It's always fun to see what wild meats they have in addition to the typical buffalo and beef. I had a kangaroo burger a few weeks ago! The bar is actually really great too. They have several local craft beer taps and the bartenders have always been friendly. The outdoor seating area is really great, too. Ceiling fans help keep the air moving and it is shaded as well. They also have live music out there on Tuesday evenings!

  • Alex H.

The burgers here are quite good. They have plenty of options on their specialty menu, or you can create your own. They also have great buffalo and turkey burgers. However they only know how to cook them medium, even if you request something else. They serve wild game meat, but it is too expensive... If you make your own burger with boar or ostrich meat, you're looking at a 20 dollar burger! Their fries are okay- but their sweet potato chips are awesome! They have cheap beer too. Their service is slow during peak hours, but that's standard for this non-service conscious part of Louisiana. They also have poor television management during college football. They turned all 15 TVs to the LSU game when Michigan state was playing Oregon and Tennessee was playing OU. I get it, this is Louisiana, but LSU and Mississippi state are not going to be in the conversation at the end of the season like Michigan state or Oregon! I'd give them 3.5 stars if I could.

Sitting in the restaurant and I ordered a Buffalo wing style burger. I hope it's good. I've had a Bison burger before but never Buffalo. This will be an experience. The last time I was here I was a star, this time I'm Stevie Nicks. Star status!!!

We were in town visiting and found this place on Yelp. We are so sad we found it on our last night! Damn! The burgers were huge, well seasoned, bun and extras were fresh. Huge selection of extras. I had a black bean burger- excellent! It's sometimes hard to find a veggie poison that isn't pure processes and frozen- my patty was fresh and perfect. Lots of tv's to watch football but not overwhelming for those in our group who weren't interest. Oh and the bar- tons in tap and the bartender made really good suggestions for local beers to try. We'll be back next visit!!!

Third time to eat at Twisted Root and it gets better each time. Our hamburgers had 8oz of meat and cooked perfectly. The bun was toasted and fresh. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, the tomatoes were red and deliciously ripe and the onion was crunchy good. They have a pickle bar and we had both the dill and bread & butter pickles, both were tasty good. The fries were hot & crispy and plenty for 2 people to split. I liked their root beer, the flavor was excellent! Also, all their music memorabilia on the walls and playing overhead in the restaurant give this place a great feel. If you want a great hamburger, this would be an excellent choice.

Had the "Enough Said" burger last night. Really good. Homemade potato chips on the burger were great.

Very neat restaurant! Tons of different game/ meats to choose from. Definitely try some of their signature watermelon sweet tea!

One of the first places we ate at when we moved to Shreveport... + great burger selection +fun atmosphere +just a good number of options -nickel & dime (but I feel as if that's the current trend in a lot of these type of restaurants, i.e. No "meal" options- you pay for everything separately, which makes it feel pricey at times)

  • Dawn D.

Yum!!! Great burgers!! Fun place to go it was very clean with great decor. Service was very friendly. The only thing I really did not like was the sweet potato chips very stale just not good! If you go to this burger joint try some pickles I wish I would of ordered some fried. I highly recommend!

  • Rob G.

Totally decent burger and nice choice of sides like fried green beans, sweet potato chips and fried pickles in addition to the usual fries. Also offer house made root beer and watermelon ice tea, both very good. Fun atmosphere with full bar and good craft beer selection.

Ate dinner on a Sunday evening after playing ball all day. Wow! What a change up from the ordinary burger! The Freshman 15 (with an egg) was great as was the Big Tex. side items were unique and a welcomed change from fast food. BUT, (and this is amazing), I forgot my credit card on the table. A call TWO DAYS later to inquire and it was there! And, then in the mail home to me!!!! These are truly good FOLKS! Thanks Twisted Root for great food, great shakes, and great integrity!

This is my second visit and I'll have to say it was excellent! The restaurant had only been open about a month the first time I went. It was good, but nothing to write home about. Obviously, this joint has worked out the kinks as the burger was stellar. I can't believe I waited until now to try guacamole on my burger. I insisted on sampling the guacamole first to make sure it was devoid of cilantro. I hate that fiendish herb. Another clear winner was the fried green beans. I've never enjoyed them before, but I can't believe I was able to live without them. Now that I've had them, I can't. Twisted Root is in my sights for another experience soon.

The atmosphere is lots of fun. The location makes this a great neighborhood hangout where the kids (and adults) can play outside and the parents have a drink or two. The burgers are a bit overpriced with no kids burgers but the choices worth it.

I always enjoy the Ranch Hand burger, as well as the homemade root beer, watermelon tea, and pickle bar! They also have nice outdoor seating.

I am on a restrictive diet. It's hard to find placed with food I can eat. Usually I end up sacrificing flavor, atmosphere, or service to get what I can. This was great food with outstanding atmosphere and service. I will be back.

Stopped in on the way through town. Wasn't all that optimistic, honestly, about the prospects for something head turning in Shreveport. But I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks to some good reviews on Yelp - I took a chance on this place and am an instant fan. Love the look and atmosphere - open, lots of light, upbeat, trendy, good music that's loud enough to enjoy but quiet enough so that you can actually talk to people - imagine that! Love the food - its a hamburger place - albeit a "top shelf" one. If you want steak or sushi - go somewhere else. If you want a standard food - hamburgers - raised to a whole new level with creativity and craft - this is your place. There are other things on offer - but clearly gourmet burgers is their mojo. I had the "Big Tex" - very nice. They offer local craft beers and standards - overall a solid bar that avoids the extreme lower and upper ends you find in other places. Service is excellent. Ask for "DJ" at the bar.....

  • Robin S.

Good bar - lots of craft beer. You order food from the line in front and then mosey over to the bar. Green Flash IPA excellent. Abita Iron IPA just decent. Ranch Hand burger not bad but not as good as many I've had recently. Properly cooked. Onion strings were a little greasy and limp. I wanted fried green tomatoes but that was a no go. Side salad is huge and full of bacon (bacon!!). Blue cheese dressing was basically a lump of blue cheese but I like blue cheese so that was fine. Good setup and friendly service. I'm tempted to upgrade to 5 stars in the category of Shreveport restaurants on a Sunday. Looking through Yelp for a place to eat was discouraging. Glad I found Twisted Root.

Burgers here are pretty good and the sides, while ala-carte are decent portions for $2-$4. My biggest issue is that the front was not laid out properly. It takes forever to get through the line only to face ONE register. Gee, y'all here about bottleneck issues down here? I timed my visit here, upon walking in for the first time, well that's something I do when I see such a cluster: it just sets off my six-sigma meter. So we waited 10 min to get to the bend in the line, 16 min from bend to register and 8 min to get our food. Once you add in commute time; which for most I assume is about 20 min roundtrip; you are basically almost an hr into lunch and you have yet to take a bite of your burger. Again, burger was good, but I do not see myself coming back here until the line flow improves. Overall, I was actually more impressed with the chili fries, than the burger. Dropping about $14 here for lunch (burger, side, drink) is a bit much to spend for lunch and the limited menu, is not bringing me back here for dinner.

One of our family favorites. Happy to have stumbled on the happy hour and enjoyed ordering dinner from the bar and watching football! Love the Frito Bandito Hot Dog...not a better dog in town. Bartenders are not the friendliest. .not sure why so unpleasant but that has been my experience every time...but the overall atmosphere is fun which makes up for it.

I've been waiting for this place to open since I saw it on KTBS a few months ago. Arrived at 11:30AM and the line was out the door. Should have expected that since it's only been open a couple days. Waited about 40 minutes from arrival to getting our food. Buffalo burger was great. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We had planned to get it TOGO and head back to the office but they have a sign up saying "No TOGO food at lunch" I docked em' a start for that but overall - Two thumbs up! Bar was nice and lot's of TV's. LSU and Saints games would be great here!

  • Todd H.

Wide selection of burgers and toppings. I loved all the local beers they have to offer and a great atmosphere. I would give this place 5 stars if the burger was a littler juicier. I found my burger to be a little dry. Still really good overall.

    (4)
  • David B.

Saw this on Yelp, Had the Buffalo Burger, was very tasty. Great place, very juicy burger, which for buffalo is unusual. Everything is Ala carte, little pricey, Burger/fries/tea $17 I'd go back.

  • Evan J.

Great place to drink beer and eat some sides. Burger (freshman 15) was 4/5 only because of the bun. If it had a potato bun or some other high quality bun it would have been 5/5. As it was the burger wasn't as good as one you get at 5 guys and the bun was something you get at Market Basket. The decor was cool with guitars and other music flyers. Staff was friendly and onion strings were light and delicious I would definitely get them again. They also have a large assortment of beers such as far tire and other beers you can't necessarily find in LA. They have maybe 15 different tv's so even though they don't advertise as a sports bar they would fit the bill. If I lived nearby I would definitely consider going there to watch a game. Overall I would say if you wanna drink a few beers in a cool place and watch a game this is a good choice. You want a great burger go to 5 guys.

  • Jessica L.

The place is good. I wish they took call in orders to go! Make sure you double check your food if you are ordering to go. Half the time it's not right or you're missing something. The pickle bar is pretty spectacular. Don't bother with a fried egg on your burger, it's prepared hard fried with no runny yellow which is the way it's supposed to be. Don't bother complaining about missing items (after you get home and realize it). The manager will half ass apologize and promise to send you a gift card that never arrives.

  • Joshua B.

As far as ambiance goes, this is my favorite burger place to eat at. All the music concert posters around with guitars make you feel like you're in Nashville or Austin. The combinations of burgers with all the fixings are fun and creative. I've been here twice and I'm still waiting for some different game besides venison and bison. They have kangaroo, beaver, and a few other random ones. The last two times the burgers have been a little dry but they're still tasty. This is a great place for families because it's quite loud. Get a table early because if you wait to get your food first you might be eating standing up. I wish they had more indoor seating. They have a ton of great beers on tap. Also for those warm nights they have corn hole outside and some legit outdoor seating. Last but not least they have a pickle bar which is delicious.

  • Michael R.

Way over priced for an average burger. Was very disappointed with our food. Won't go back. I guess if you are looking for one of their different meat selections you are in luck. If not you can make a better burger at home. The fries were decent. I also hear people say the beer selection is good.

  • KEVIN F.

My first visit here was a good one. Truly satisfying "Verde" burger, good fries, and a home-brew Root Beer. A clean and astetically pleasing modern space, with a few uncommon (for Shreveport) twists such as a pickle-bar and a house blend of ketchup starring some Ancho chile for added zing. The burger itself was deftly cooked, with a mailliard finish adding extra flavor and texture. It was well executed. Fries, I presume to be hand cut, skin on, had a crisp texture and deep color indicative of a proper double fry. Nice extra touch that some home-brew/blend soft drinks and tea choices are awaiting you at the drink bar. For the SBC area, this place is cutting-edge. I can only hope that this type of "food scene" continues to grow here. Many local resturants could benefit from a healthy dose of the unique passion and attention to detail that's on display here. Come in for the food, and don't miss a glimpse at what the food-future of SBC should look like. Well played!

Buffalo burgers are so good! The Frito bandito is awesome and so is the Verde. Love their onion strings. Not so busy if you wait until 7:30pm.

  • Michael M.

This is a damn fine burger. One of the best I 've ever had. I wish there was a bit more of a focus on service, but I can live with the "Smash burger" style order/pick up idea. I was really disappointed with the lack of enthusiasm on the part of the bar staff, as I was looking for a beer that I hadn't tried, & got exactly zero help finding one. A bar that carries that many craft brews should be a bit more helpful, in my opinion. All that said, the burger is the most important thing here, & it was terrific. I had a sexxy Hawaiian. It was everything that I wanted it to be. Also, the guy calling tickets behind the counter has a really awesome voice. He's a trip to listen to, & it takes the edge off of waiting. All in all, a good experience. We will go again. If my bar service is better next time, I will raise my review to at least 4 .

  • Sid N.

My friends and I arrived here pretty early on a Saturday evening (6:00 pm) to find the place packed. Clearly, this was a good sign. The service was fairly efficient with the exception of our server getting one of our burger orders wrong. I'm going to blame the loud music for that. Our burgers were really good. I had the buffalo, which had a really sweet flavor. I had guacamole on my burger to counter the inherent dryness of the lean meat, and that worked out perfectly. The place has a pickle bar and self-serve condiments so I had the opportunity to experiment a little with every few bites of my burger. The bread and butter pickles were the best, followed by the sweet and spicy. The atomic pickles were too spicy and overpowered the flavor of the meat. The ranch pickles were not impressive at all, and again overpowered the burger. The ancho-chipotle ketchup on the other hand was epic. It complimented everything perfectly. Whenever I am in Shreveport again, I will definitely return to this joint. Hopefully they will have other meats e.g. kangaroo available then.

Excellent food! Well cooked, properly seasoned, and fun atmosphere! Enjoy! My first time I had the buffalo burger and it lived up to he billing. Next, I had the standard burger. Also fantastic, and all with fresh burger dressing.

Didn't really care for this place. The music was so loud it was hard to carry on a conversation with my group. I ordered a "regular " dressed burger it was large , plain in taste and in my opinion Burger King has them beat .

  • Danny B.

The restaurant itself looks pretty nice, inside and out. They do have a decent selection of burgers with names for different toppings. Big selection of drinks at the bar. The outside seating is decent. They have a huge bench seating area for a big party. The bad part.... Unlike the other twisted roots I've seen, they lack game meat. They always seem to run out. Some of the Burger patties were over cooked. A mile down the road is the ghetto so you might want to lock your doors and hope you don't break down on you way back or on your way there lol... The hired help is also from the hood and trailer parks so it becomes interesting lmao! Whatever man I need to move out of this place!!

  • Ace M.

I ordered the turkey burger with Swiss and mushrooms. I expected more of a bigger, juicier burger, but it was still good. Sweet potato chips were tasty. Food was a little over-priced. The next time I go I want to try one of the novelty burgers.

  • E D.

All of the food here is pretty delicious. However, the hamburger meat is a little tough and not too flavorful. The atmosphere is fun and comfortable. The customer service was excellent. The restaurant was clean. It was around $50 for four of us to eat a burger, side, and a drink. I could only eat about half of my burger though. It was a big portion. Overall, my family and I had a wonderful experience here and will most likely return.

One of the best burger joints around. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and just an all around great experience every time I eat here. I highly recommend this place!!!

Great food and great environment. I had the buffalo burger with cheese and bacon. It was cooked just right and had good flavor. The fries had good seasoning and tasted great with the chipotle ketchup. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town..

Love the atmosphere a lot! Cool place! I got my burger on a pretzel bun. Gregg got his on a regular bun and we shared a order of fries. Both of ours were very very good and we'll be back but we still like Five Guys burgers the best.

    (4)
  • Simone F.

Loses a point because for these prices I should not have to stand in line to place my order, but should be able to take my seat and have a nice young person carry my burger to me. But good, intriguing burgers (options range to exotic meats!), a very thorough beer and cocktail selection and a very family friendly (ok, that means LOUD) atmosphere makes for a good place to get a bite.

    (3)
  • Arthur P.

Decent burgers however we waited for 25min in line to order our food and another 25 min to receive it. The difference in food from other burger joints is marginal at best.

  • Ken J.

I loved the concept and atmosphere of this place. And I was really excited about the wild game options. Thee beer selection is good compared to other restaurants in the area. The burger was good and the fries were just okay. There are other places you could go locally and get a better burger and it won't set you back $20 . I would eat here again but more for the atmosphere than the good.

  • Heather E.

I've only been in town a couple of months but so far this is my favorite place to eat and hang out. They have an endless selection of good quality burgers. The fried pickles are delicious. They make their own apple cinnamon infused tequila which makes for an excellent twist on a margarita.

  • Gregg H.

In summary a great burger and great atmosphere. Large beer selection as well; always a plus. The staff is friendly and the food comes out quickly. Not only is it a great place to eat but is also a great bar to watch a game or have a drink after work. Looking forward to many more nights here myself, but If you are in Shreveport for one night and want to grab a bite or a beer in a laid back atmosphere you can't beat the twisted root.

Fantastic !! Didn't try any of the crazy burgers but had great taste and plenty of food. Only bad part was the fried pickles were not that good and the sweet potato chips were cold. Also I got my son chicken nuggets and that was not impressive at all. The burger and the military discount won me over though . Definitely going back.

Oh snaps. I might be in love. The burger here was probably one of the best I've ever had. I got the spicy goat with lamb meat, and man oh man was it delicious. Moist and flavorful and perfectly well balanced. The fries were pretty good, too, but the burger was definitely the star. They also have authentic root beer (including hazelnut root beer!) and the atmosphere is great. I definitely chuckled reading the backs of some of the chairs and the bathroom chalkboards. The only major drawback for me here was that they didn't have any of their more exotic game meats, which was really what I came for. But all in all, no complaints about the quality of the food they did have in stock.

Very good burger. About $2.00 too much though. Awful frozen fries that are kept lukewarm in a steam table pan WITHOUT a heat lamp. If they had Five Guys fries I would come back. Too high $ for a serve-yourself place.

Great atmosphere, love the name cards. Their house root beer is good. Definetly try the chipotle sauce, goes great on chips. Excellent selection of Louisiana beer on tap.

Burgers where very overcooked after I asked them to be medium. Took them back and they still returned them well done. The buns are very cheap and came apart while I put my condiments on. Overall, too pricey for a burger that you could probably get at dairy queen.

I've been to Twisted Root quite a few times, mostly because my school's soccer team has lots of fundraisers there, so I've had the chance to try lots of different burgers, sides, and pickles. Let me start with my absolute favorite right now, one I came up with and tried yesterday - it involved a vegan patty on whole wheat bread, peppercorn ranch, jalapeno's (I'll talk about these in a second), onion strings, and american cheese. I am in LOVE with their vegan patty. This combination was definitely a win, though I might try to add some spice other than the jalapenos. Their jalapenos - I am sad to say that I am always disappointed when I get them. They taste bland, but are crunchy and nice other than that. I can usually eat a few of them before deciding to knock them off a burger, but I don't think I'll be adding them after this last time. The burger patties are usually very dry, which I'm not a big fan of. That's why I adore this vegan patty! It's made of black beans, chickpeas, and quinoa, and it is very very good. I will be eating it with every burger from now on. I have tried the Western, the Ranch Hand, the Frito Bandito, and the Big Tex. Out of those, the Western is usually my favorite. The combination of pepperjack, fried onion strings, and bacon is awesome. Again, not a big fan of the jalapenos, but the burger does need some kind of spice to stay on my list. The Big Tex and Frito bandito are pretty good! Both have guac on them, and I do enjoy their guacamole a lot. The Ranch Hand is my mom's new favorite. She and I both love their ranch, and she is always happy with their bacon, so this burger is worth it for those wanting a nice ranchy, bacony burger. I have had their straight-cut fries, cheddar fries, sweet potato chips, and fried onion strings. I'd definitely recommend the straight-cut fries and the onion strings! The cheddar fries are not the best, mostly because the cheddar becomes one giant mass of sorta plastic-y cheddar that won't stay on your fries, but they are nice with sauce. The sweet potato chips I had a while ago were a little overcooked, making them hard to eat, but I did only have them that once. If you like sweet potatoes, I'd say try it! They may have improved them by now! Their pickle bar is super cute and has nice variety! I recently tried their sweet and spicy, which was very good. I usually can't eat many pickles, but I think I could have eaten a few cups worth of those. My mom got the bread and butter pickles, and she definitely preferred those to mine. I enjoyed both, and I plan on trying out their other kinds next time I go. (I think they have five or six different kinds!) If you want a drink, be sure to tell them! They will assume that you don't unless you say otherwise. And try out their rootbeer. You probably won't be disappointed! Their bar has a good variety of drinks and does tabs, so if you're into that, they do it well. Their outside spot has a good area for kids to play and lots of tables, so it's a family friendly place with nice ambiance and good music. Very fun to take friends and chat for a while! Their ordering system is cute. Once you get your order, you're given a name that's usually a famous person or character. When your order's ready, they'll call out the name they gave you on the speaker and you'll return your little slip of paper to the name bucket. Overall, I love this place. It's cute, has good food and nice people, and is great for hanging out with friends. I'll be coming back very soon!

My husband and I visited here on our last visit to Shreveport. Since we arrived later than a normal dinner time, we were happy to find an eatery still going strong at 9pm. I had the Lot-a-Shrooms burger, while my husband ordered the Freshman 15. Both were good... Nothing to rave about, but fine to eat. As an avid sweet tea drinker, my husband was quite disappointed to not find "just plain ol' sweet tea," but we did taste test a few of their concoctions. He really liked the watermelon bubble gum whatever the heck that was! All in all, we would probably go there again, but it probably wouldn't be our first choice. Nothing really blew us away.

I enjoyed the atmosphere....But the prices were a little more than I expected. The footlong was AWESOME! Extra for chili and cheese. Chicken Nuggets aren't spectacular but the fries were crispy. My husband had the Sexy Hawaiian I guess it was good, because he didn't talk! LOL! The only reason they didn't get five stars. Everything is sold separately, this can add up fast. This would be a once a month outing. Still looking for a REGULAR SPOT....Ow yeah they have a Bar..Will go back with the girls. See yah! Nice service. Big smiling faces. Went around 11:30.

Very good place to eat! Loved the atmosphere, prices slightly high so expect to pay a little more than you would normally. I had the salad with turkey patty, highly recommend. I would have gotten the bison burger patty but didn't want to pay close to $12 for a salad. You have to snag your own seat and there are not a lot of booths so grab one as soon as you walk in. Would go back.

The burgers here are definitely some of the best burgers in this area. The "Spicy Goat" burger with the goat cheese is superb! They have a good variety of flavored non-alcoholic drinks as well, from the watermelon sweet tea (a little bit weak for me), to the chocolate coconut twisted root beer (absolutely in-your-face full on flavor). The bison meat is spot-on, and I am looking forward to trying some of the other meats they offer. My only complaint so far, is that the last time I had a regular beef spicy goat, the meat was very dry and it was overcooked. Other than that, it is a friendly place (although often very busy) with a comfortable atmosphere.

I was in town for the day and was looking for a burger place and stumbled upon this gem. Fantastic atmosphere and does a great job of incorporating the local area with a huge selection of Louisiana beer and Shreveport decor despite being a Texas chain restaurant. There are so many things that this restaurant does right. The atmosphere and decor is outstanding. The menu was pretty impressive and on point for a burger joint. The ordering system is fun, they have their own drinks on tap at the coke dispenser which was a nice touch, there are some sauces available on the tables that are pretty good, and while not a fan of pickles, the pickle bar looked very cool. I did see a container at the bar labeled "bacon vodka" that looked tempting but I didn't give it a try. There are plenty of gimmicks to keep you coming back to this place, for instance the offerings of exotic meat. The only reason that keeps this from being 5 stars is the beef patty. It should be the star of the show at any burger place, but while nice in size, it lacked any flavor and was quite bland and on the dry side. Regardless, with everything else this place does right, I will surly be back.

My brother rants and raves about this place. I finally was in town and decided to go with him. I was very disappointed and will not be going back again. There are a variety of toppings and meats, it is entertaining that there is a market for elk burger. Unfortunately the variety of toppings and meets seems to distract people from the fact that the food is mediocre at best. I had the fried pickles, the fries, the fat elvis shake, and the Kevin Bacon with some of the watermelon tea. The pickles were soggy and fell apart. The fries were also soggy and slightly seasoned. The tea was bland and not sweet. The almond joy root beer wasn't potable. The burger. I had hopes for the burger. It was bland meat, a squished patty that was almost paper thin. Slathered in this bleu cheese pimento-style monster. The only thing I enjoyed was the shake. It was a good shake, but not worth $6. Two days later I had a burger at Provenance. It was delicious. Go there.

One of our family favorites. Happy to have stumbled on the happy hour and enjoyed ordering dinner from the bar and watching football! Love the Frito Bandito Hot Dog...not a better dog in town.

Wide selection of burgers and toppings. I loved all the local beers they have to offer and a great atmosphere. I would give this place 5 stars if the burger was a littler juicier. I found my burger to be a little dry. Still really good overall.

Saw this on Yelp, Had the Buffalo Burger, was very tasty. Great place, very juicy burger, which for buffalo is unusual. Everything is Ala carte, little pricey, Burger/fries/tea $17 I'd go back.

Great food and great environment. I had the buffalo burger with cheese and bacon. It was cooked just right and had good flavor. The fries had good seasoning and tasted great with the chipotle ketchup. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town..

Way over priced for an average burger. Was very disappointed with our food. Won't go back. I guess if you are looking for one of their different meat selections you are in luck. If not you can make a better burger at home. The fries were decent. I also hear people say the beer selection is good.

I ordered the turkey burger with Swiss and mushrooms. I expected more of a bigger, juicier burger, but it was still good. Sweet potato chips were tasty. Food was a little over-priced. The next time I go I want to try one of the novelty burgers.

Love the atmosphere a lot! Cool place! I got my burger on a pretzel bun. Gregg got his on a regular bun and we shared a order of fries. Both of ours were very very good and we'll be back but we still like Five Guys burgers the best.

Decent burgers however we waited for 25min in line to order our food and another 25 min to receive it. The difference in food from other burger joints is marginal at best.

I've only been in town a couple of months but so far this is my favorite place to eat and hang out. They have an endless selection of good quality burgers. The fried pickles are delicious. They make their own apple cinnamon infused tequila which makes for an excellent twist on a margarita.

Yum!!! Great burgers!! Fun place to go it was very clean with great decor. Service was very friendly. The only thing I really did not like was the sweet potato chips very stale just not good! If you go to this burger joint try some pickles I wish I would of ordered some fried. I highly recommend!

Totally decent burger and nice choice of sides like fried green beans, sweet potato chips and fried pickles in addition to the usual fries. Also offer house made root beer and watermelon ice tea, both very good. Fun atmosphere with full bar and good craft beer selection.

Go there.

Awesome burger place with unique burgers, hot dogs and shakes. Great beer selection also!! The sexy Hawaiian burger and southern comfort was darkish on pretzel bun. Don't miss the pickle bar!!
