The Oyster Bar Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Saturday night at 6 PM. They offered and hour wait. No thanks.

Came for dinner and Saints' Sunday Night Football. It's my first time here and I got confused when I looked through the menu -- are you seafood or are you Mexican... or are you a seafood cantina? We sat in the dining room where there are TVs, so unlike some other restaurants, you're not confined to eating at the bar. As for the food, I can't say enough good things... I can't say anything really except that if I came back, it'd only be for the oysters.

  • Chris L.

My food was meh, the prices are slightly inflated, but the drinks are decent and they have TVs out on the patio. Parking is crazy on the weekend, so be prepared for a slight trek (I'm talking to YOU, MILF of 2 out for the weekend in your glittery top, skinny jeans, and 5 inch heels.)

Always great food, good cocktails/shots, and our waiter was attentive and nice. The hostess spent most of her time outside the front door smoking cigarettes and chatting with her friends. I'll definitely be back, but it doesn't set a good tone when customers are made to wait for the hostess to take an extra drag off a cig before coming in to seat them.

I absolutely love The Oyster Bar. It's always crowded and loud and oh so hard to find parking, but I just can't help myself. I absolutely would go there every day for the Top Shelf margarita and raw oysters.

This place is GREAT! Friendly staff, great food, best margarita's in town!! They have a great atmosphere and I love sitting on the patio with friends on a nice pretty day! I have a friend from DFW area and when she comes to town, this is the first place we hit...at her request!

Yummy! Oysters were great as was the burger. They were fast and friendly. When I come back this will be a definite stop!

I love this place for Burgers and Oysters! Even their Margaritas are quite yummy and not too strong (just right). I have never had a meal here that I did not like. Definitely a local place worth trying!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Shreveport!! You cannot beat their happy hour specials! Their margaritas are 2nd only to the place down the street (You know which one I'm taking about) The Angels oysters (Bacon makes everything better) are my favorite followed by the Tortilla Soup. Did I mention how I love their happy hour?

Firstly, my wife and I sat at the bar voluntarily. Service was quick and the beers were COLD (like beers are supposed to be)!! We ordered some oysters on the half shell, gumbo and main dishes. Everything was superb! I must say that their Mesquite grilled vegetables is to die for! It's the BEST tasting grilled veggies I've ever had. Kudos to the chef.

We wanted oysters before heading home to California, hence our stop here. The angel oysters wrapped in bacon were good. I had the mesquite burger. It was fine. The chips and salsa were great. Salsa came in a jar mug... Nothing better than knowing you won't run out of salsa!

I don't know where they get these beautiful oysters and they do a great job preparing them.

First time ever at Oyster Bar and was eager to try a hamburger. We got an order of chips and salsa and it was good, but not great. A little too much cilantro in the salsa for our liking. The tea was good, but both glasses, mine and my wife's, were all chipped up. I ordered a hamburger and my wife ordered a puffy taco. Our food arrived on plates that were chipped up too. Cannot be very sanitary. The hamburger was excellent! The puffy taco was good too. Rice & beans okay on hers, fries were good, just not hot. The server was very nice and did a great job. When I want a great hamburger, I'll return. Hope they get some newer plates and glasses by then.

This is kind of an "in" spot for Shreveport. It's a little pricey, but tasty. It's a local dive where the waiters know you by name and head back to get your margarita promptly :) This is my third time to visit this little spot :) It kind of reminds me of a seafood shack. It has some Cajun dishes, as well as some regular American menu options. I like that they serve up chips and salsa like a Mexican restaurant would. The salsa is always fresh and the chips are served warm. I have tried the peach, strawberry and top shelf margarita. They are all tasty and will all knock you on your butt if you aren't careful. They have doubles at happy hour (basically 20 oz instead of 10) For my entrée, I ordered the carne asada. The meat was incredibly tender and seasoned well. I love the garlic butter that they serve with it. The beans were a little unusual to me, but not bad. The fried shrimp and parmesan oysters are also tasty meal options. Ohh and I almost forgot the creamy white queso which has an amazing array of flavors. We truly wanted to lick the bowl it was so yummy. If you want to do out of the ordinary, check this place out. Most of their meals are 15-25 bucks. It's a clean, family friendly atmosphere. They have a nice outdoor patio for good weather days.

First time stepping into this place and felt immediately drawn into the atmosphere. We went in at about 1230 on a Thursday and had to park a little bit away but nothing worth complaining about. We were seated within minutes of walking in and given our water, chips and salsa fairly quickly. I ordered a moscato, I like mine a bit sweeter than what they offered but to each their own. As far as the food goes, I ordered a six and six of oysters (2 different types of oyster); six angels and six oysters in a half shell. The angels was oyster wrapped in bacon, this was my favorite and it went great with the barbecue sauce condiment they give with it. I also had a side of fries which were good; like their chips and salsa, the fries were good but the oysters definitely stood out. My husband ordered their lunch tilapia plate; I must say, the tilapia was excellent! It tasted so fresh and didn't have a fishy smell to it, I'll be sure to order his meal next time (along with oysters of course, haha)! I hope my second visit will be as great as this experience so then I can change this rating to a five!

This is possibly my favorite spot to eat and hangout in Shreveport. The hamburger is one of the best period. The simplicity of the mesquite grilled meat, great bun, and traditional fresh fixings with hand cut fries put this burger in a league of its own. Chips and salsa are incredible and all their oyster dishes are fabulous considering we are a ways from the Gulf. Carne asada is very good. Get the sandwich and save a couple of bucks (one of the servers actually suggested this). Their poboys overflow with great seafood, are easily one of the best in town (or frankly anywhere), and can be shared by two with no regrets. The bean dip is unique and something you won't see on any other menue. The unique and eclectic menue has something for everyone and offers unparalleled value given the quality of food and service. The atmosphere is casual and fun and their bar staff is exceptional. Cocktails are great at a fraction of the cost with a great happy hour. I could go on and on. I'm getting cravings just thinking about this place. You have to check it out. Like...right now, stop what you are doing and go grab a drink, have some chips and salsa, share a dozen raw and a sandwich with a close friend, and relax. You have earned it my friend.

  • Patrick D.

I got 1/2 dozen oysters on the half shell. They were excellent!! Then had the shrimp poboy with fries. Also very good. I love how they bring chips and salsa as soon as you sit down. Fair service. Server was typically underwhelming.

  • Jason A.

I thought ok, in town for the night, looking for some local type fare, oysters and a shrimp po boy sounds good. The location was hard to find but I made it. It was 8:30 on a Tue night so not too busy, got a seat at the bar real easy. The bartender was cool but I could only imagine the service if he was slammed. Problem is, they ran out of half shell oysters but had every other oyster. Strike one. I ordered a beer and a half dozen Angels and they were just ok. By the time I downed the fifth oyster, I couldn't stop thinking how they resembled little oyster turds. I didn't finish the last one and skipped the po boy, strike two. Then I get my bill and notice the prices are 30% higher than the prices from the menu on their website ($13 for six turds). Out! The beer was very cold though...

Delicious salsa! I had the Parmesan shrimp and it was delicious!!! My husband had the oysters on the half shell and thought they were fresh and yummy. He really enjoyed the horseradish sauce quite a bit. Definitely worth going back to!!!

It's been awhile since I've been here, but a friend was passing through town and I thought I'd let him give it a try. Though I'm sure my entree was 7000 calories, I was trying to eat decently by getting the grilled tilapia. It was a first for me as I usually get a catfish poboy, but it was nice and flavorful. The garlicky drawn butter went well with it. The sides were okay. The rice was a bit dry and plainish. The black beans were pretty nice with a baked bean theme. They were just too sweet. If I wasn't trying to reduce my cholesterol, I would have gotten the fresh-cut fries. Not Five Guys good, but good nonetheless.

Routinely disappointing I am actively dining at this establishment (for a third time) as I write this. The service at this establishment is sub-par even for a casual dining restaurant. The food is over priced and the food routinely tastes like it has been cooked on a grill that has not been cleaned for a while (burnt flavor). The food was cold (not just one item, but everything).

    (1)
  • Shelia H.

A restaurant must anytime I'm in shreveport! Their shrimp po boys are out of this world good and who doesn't love free chips and salsa to start off with? Recently had the watermelon margarita which was so refreshing on a hot summer day! Not too sweet but had a really nice watermelon flavor. We love the Queso too! Oyster Bar is definitely an all around win!

This place is a great alternative to Superior grill. word on the street is that this place was a spawn of some employees of said grill... so you may notice a similar quality in the salsa and mexican (tex-mex) food offerings. we often meet here as a large group and lots of kids. they management and staff always welcome us and do their best to make us feel welcome. my wife loves their carne asada, I often get the fried oyster po-boy. chips and salsa re plentiful and good. the gumbo was... OK. the drinks are good especially for happy hour.

    (4)
  • Jeff M.

We enjoyed the char grilled oysters and cold beer. Make sure you request a frosty mug. Odd combo seafood and Mexican but it works, guess its owned by the people that have Superior Mexican!! Look forward to trying other things next time!

I'd never been to Louisiana before, but my brother relocating out to Shreveport for work was as good of reason as any to visit for the first time. And naturally, family is one thing, but let's be real here, I look forward to eating new things more than anything, honestly. My brother brought me to the Oyster Bar for the first of many meals I would partake in while in town, saying that it was something of a local joint, that I most certainly wouldn't be able to get at back home. Such wasn't an inaccurate statement, but I guess I was hoping that I would have been blown away a little bit more than I was. The Oyster Bar is part of a shopping center, and from what I could tell, parking was somewhat suspect; it's free, but not necessarily plentiful, and the lot itself appeared to be kind of cramped, and is shared with numerous other attached businesses. Thankfully, it wasn't an issue for us to get a spot not too far from the door, considering it was like 95 degrees outside. Entering the restaurant, it was pretty packed on a Friday evening, which is at least a sign that there's got to be some merit to this place, whether it's quality of the food, varieties of the spirits, or something else. My brother and I went to the bar upon seeing two seats vacate shortly after arriving, to wait for our own table. It should be noted that I didn't notice any beer taps, and that their list of beers that isn't that extensive, is apparently all served from bottles into frosted mugs. This isn't the kind of place you come to if you want to be an adventurous beer snob. But therein lies a little bit of charm in not having to think too hard about what you want to drink. The bartender was swift with the chips and salsa, and was a paragon of efficiency. The salsa here runs a tad spicy, and I can appreciate when you scoop up the occasional entire chunk of jalapeno within it. A table opened up before we could even finish our first round, and again, the server was quick to make sure we had chips and salsa upon sitting down. Thankfully I'm a glutton and have a decent resistance to filling up on chips. We both ordered a seafood platter, which is described as a whole bunch of fried seafood. Oysters, shrimps and catfish. All served on top of a bunch of fries, and with a soup or salad. And since I didn't come to Shreveport to eat rabbit food, I got a cup of seafood gumbo. It was served piping hot and was generous with the seafood, packed a good bit of heat, and vanished as quickly as it arrived. The seafood platter was a tremendous amount of food, and was overall pretty good. I kind of wished the ratio of shrimp and oysters to catfish were balanced out a little better, but I guess it's no surprise, since the latter is kind of the cheaper protein of the others. They don't scrimp on the size of the shrimp and oysters, which is good. However, the reason why I have a little objection is the cost. At $26, it's no cheap entree, but since I was traveling, and pining some local fare, I didn't really argue the price tag then. But when I look back at it, it's a plate full of fried seafood with french fries, and I left feeling like what a competitive eater must feel like after a competition. If it were up to me, I'd reduce the portion of the catfish, halve the fries, not include the soup/salad, and drop the cost to like $20, tops. Overall, I think the Oyster Bar was a cool place, and I like that it's got that local feel, that local people apparently are fond of. It reminds of the kind of seafood shack you might find on the beach, minus the super rednecks and peanut shells all over the place. I always love those places, regardless. Would I come back? Considering that as long as I have family in Shreveport, I'm likely to visit again, so sure, I'd come back, but probably get something not so costly.

I love the salsa and queso. The rest of the food? Not so much. I just...can't seem to find anything I like. I've tried the fish tacos. I've tried the sandwiches. I just don't love any of it. But the margaritas are the BOMB. And they'll let you upgrade to the Top Shelf for only $1 more!! They are super strong and truly delicious. I also think the service is usually really good, considering how busy it always is. I have never been to Oyster Bar when there weren't a million other people there. They have a great little front patio to sit on when it's nice out, plus indoor seating. The whole place probably only seats about 75 people (indoors and out), so come early or plan to wait. Also, parking can be a pain, as it's in a shopping center with several other popular eateries.

    (3)
  • Richard S.

I've been here a few times. It's always busy. Expect to be packed in with a million other people at the bar while waiting for your table. People like to sit and drink and talk so nobody is in a rush to eat and get out. That said, it is worth the wait. The oysters are really good. I'm undecided about all the wacky oyster concoctions, but it is fun nonetheless. A great place to meet with a few friends to get the night started.

  • David A.

Chips and salsa are great, have a po-boy. Can get hectic on Friday and Saturday night and sometimes the staff can be overwhelmed. Margaritas are fantastic...my wife says to have the "blue one".

Margs and salsa good...tuna was burnt when asked for med rare and champagne oysters were like a Goodyear tire

I've been here three times over the past year or so. Once with colleagues on a weeknight, and the food was decent. Another time I came on a Sunday evening and it pretty much sucked: greasy soggy shrimp kabob. The third time we went, the food was distinctly bad again. This place appears more "miss" than "hit."

  • Neto M.

Same owners of Superior so might as well go with mexican food, just add some seafood to it. The raw oysters are great, but really, they're raw, who is gonna mess that up?? Beer is overpriced but they have good specials. Bartenders are good. Parking sucks but the restaurant is one of my favorites. I need to frequent it soon!

    (4)
  • Steve M.

My first time eating oysters. Slimy little things my favorite was the deep fried ones. Service was great and good food. Nice fish take too.

  • Wendi S.

1 star for the delicious salsa and 1 star for the margaritas. We ordered a dozen champagne oysters that were chewy as rubber chicken and tuna that was well done when ordered medium rare. Came here because the wait at Superior Grill was too long but now I wish we would have waited it out.

the Oyster Bar is the best mexican restaurant in my book. i know, i know the name doesn't lead u to believe its mexican but trust me u get beans and rice with everything! my fav of the mesquite grilled shrimp they serve it with this dipping butter that is garlicky and sooooo good! i highly recommend you going here!

Not ready to say I'm a fan just yet. BUT this visit was definitely way better than my previous stop in here as noted in an earlier review by yours truly. To start I stopped in on a Thursday evening to meet some good friends I hadn't seen in awhile. Plus the weather was great, very mild with a light breeze and I was bummed that I wasn't able to snag an outdoor table. Rolled in about 6:30 and was surprised they had 3-4 tables open inside. Went ahead and snagged one and the waitservice was excellent (ie mindful of my beer level at all times). Ordered a dozen on the half shell and they were a little on the smallish side but plump and FRESH!!! Was having such a good time seeing my friends I really can't remember what I ordered plus I've partied between then and now!! But I do know this, whatever I ordered was good otherwise I'd be bitching about it right now!!! The menu is a little schizophrenic because it has a mix of seafood dishes as well as Mexican dishes plus sandwiches and a few country selections like Chopped Steak. I think I ordered that, maybe? Whatever, All I know is the overall experience was much improved from my last stop in and if it's that good the next time I'm in then I will be happy to go to 4 stars. If you're in Shreveport and can't decide what you want take advantage of this place's menu. It should have something to cover whatever you and whoever's in your party is craving!!!

  • Holly W.

My first visit wasn't very great. The place was packed which is fine, we waited at the bar. Well I ordered some wine and had two sips out of it, then the bartender spilled it on me. Soaked my sweater and one leg of my jeans. All the bartender offered was another glass of wine. Finally got a table and ordered. Very disappointed on how small the raw oysters were. And then the waiter forgot one of our meals! So one person at our table didn't get his food for another 15 minutes!! Not a good first impression!

  • Simone F.

Another popular Shreveport go-to spot, with prompt, friendly service, but after living in California for over 20 years, I'm appalled at what they call "salsa." It's more like flavorless gazpacho. But the oysters come out quick and are large and flavorful. House margarita packs a wallop for a decent price.

We went on a Friday night at 6pm during a torrential downpour, thinking it would not be crowded. Completely wrong. We got the last table on the patio. Service was good. Food was amazing. The salsa is close to if not the best in Shreveport/Bossier. I had carne asada tacos. The meat was delicious. Boyfriend had 6 BBQ and 6 Angel oysters. I think he wishes he would have ordered 12 more lol.

Really good service, I am not a poboy expert but the food especially the French bread was really fresh! The French fried could have been a little crispier. The salsa and chips are great too!

I used to think this place was good ole' South Shreveport overhype akin to Superior (especially once I learned of their connect) but after dreaming and wishing for some specific Angel, Charred and bacon wrapped oysters - I will say .... I am a TRUE fan of the Oyster bar. Why? 1) Chips & Salsa will bring me to anyone's door and in S'port I feel like no one compares to El Chico's but I'll eat it anyway. May I say.... it never disappoints. 2) Aesthically - nothing is pleasing nor appealing. But it gets the job done. I don't even care for the strip mall location BUT I love the convenience of being across from my old Orthodontist and in the mix of the "nucleus" that S'port offers. 3) The fried shrimp are ok and you can get them anywhere in town if not better in town. The coke is pretty strong. Never had a liquor deal here as I don't partake in those things but am starting to try. 4) didn't care for oysters before and was deathly afraid that I'd probably have an allergic reaction but MAN THOSE CHARRED OYSTERS, that clog your arteries DIPPING butter, bacon wrapped anything I'm sure is good but I'm picky and these are great then the Champagnee minoette plus butter and Parmesean makes me love them - makes me love them. Did I say? Makes me love them... ok - that's overkill but Tex Mex and Seafood is what makes me love 'em babe! My word - why didn't we have this before? I dunno (typo was meant as it brings the powerful 1,2 punch I want to convey). After salivating and trying to create my own version of the Oyster bar all the way in the Midwest - I will say....God loves me and bam a Groupon Pops up for The OYSTER BAR...where? SHREVEPOOOORRRRTTTT! So I bought one for moms and said you have to go no exxcuses. I suggest you do the same. Why? Tender seafood. Freshly grilled. Deplorable grease akin to our Southern Heritage still offered. OUtdoor patio if you're so inclined. Salsa that's freshly made Chips that were just made. Service....well overlook them. They're just kids for they know not what they do. Prices: More reasonable than what I pay here at $2 per char oyster. Get a dozen for $15 and a half dosen for $9.95 but try the 2-3 flavors of oysters to get a great sample going.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. I'm not usually the type to do these reviews, but I couldn't resist considering the experience I had. My sister in law and I were sitting at the corner bar top table for almost an hour before we were even asked to order a drink. Meanwhile, the guys sitting 2 feet from us who arrived 30 minutes after had beers and food already. When the waitress finally recognized us, she blamed us for not speaking up before and said "I thought the bartender (who was dealing with about 50 other people) was taking care of you all). She then offered to get us what we needed on the house, but when we ordered a half dozen oysters $12, and a glass of wine $6 she later came back making us pay for it. The oysters were supposed to be chargrilled, but tasted like they had been raw, reheated incorrectly and thrown on top of old shells with movie theatre Parmesan butter sauce. Not to mention, they were the size of marbles. I'm not sure how undercooked and raw with tough and chewy could be served on the same plate. It took me hours to get the bad taste out of my mouth. I work in the restaurant industry and I am appalled at how terrible the service was. Never in life would I imagine being treated that way. I will never step foot in that restaurant again, even if it was the last place to eat on earth. Hope anyone else that goes there never has to experience what we did. With the restaurant name having oysters in it, I would be ashamed of my self for serving Such poor quality oysters. God bless.

  • Katharyn D.

Wow. Such a disappointing experience. The food was good - once we got our main course. It just took a ridiculously long time to get two po-boys to our table. And when other tables around us - who came in AFTER us - were eating before ours even came was extremely frustrating. We asked to speak to the manager who said "sorry" and that was it. We were told by the server that it was "a typical time for us." We were very unhappy - but so much for the Customer is Always Right. But they certainly hurried to get the bill to us as soon as the food arrived. We didn't rate being asked if we wanted anything else... Not even a "would you like dessert?" Nothing taken off the check. No other visit from the manager to ask if the food - once it did arrive - was good. Nice job, Oyster Bar. You succeeded in making a nice Saturday afternoon frustrating. The only reason I give you two stars is because the food is good. Which is why we went in the first place. But we won't be back.

Sorry not impressed. The oysters were pretty small but that was the only thing I slightly enjoyed. Have had much better in New Orleans. The mahi mahi I ordered was so dry and overcooked that I couldn't even finish it. Don't quite get the vibe of this place either, since they have both Cajun/seafood and Mexican-ish dishes on their menu. Prices are a little high. Lastly the manager thought it would be a good idea to "fix" the fish tank one table away from where I was eating. Needless to say I will not return.

  • Corey F.

Ordered chicken, shrimp and crawfish tacos with rice as the side. Chicken was cold, shrimp and crawfish tasted and smelt like a dirty grill. Couldn't eat the shrimp and crawfish had to spit it out. The rice served with the tacos was dry and had random pieces of fried "things" in it. Would have been better off going next door to McDonald's.

Yeah.....not real impressed here. By no means was the food bad. It wasn't good as I anticipated tho. Not even close. Good service for sure. Great staff. Hope someone else finds it better than me.

70% of the reason I come is for the margaritas. Oysters are good, I like BBQ the best. The rest of menu is typical bar food. Chip and salsa go down easy while drinking. Come here if your thirsty not hungry

  • Dylan B.

Oysters? Yeah, I'm down. Came here on a groupon, and took the good with the bad. First, the good. Chips and salsa, with a surprisingly good salsa. Much appreciated. The oysters were fresh, though a bit small. Finally, the outdoor seating was nice, and gave my date and I a chance to get some fresh air. The bad? People smoking on the outdoor patio. Ignorant Californian forgot that this is allowed here! The shrimp po boy I had was pretty good, though the bread left something to be desired. I ordered grilled veggies, and whatever they seasoned them with was totally overpowered by propane or lighter fluid fumes. It's in a nice part of town, and definitely worth checking out, though it wasn't great.

A disgrace! A Louisiana oyster house that absolutely got nothing close to right. So unauthentic that I had to check what state I was in. No offense to the previous Yelpers comments but if this is Cajun cuisine in north Louisiana you can keep it. The seafood gumbo was uneatable. I literally mean you couldn't eat this trash. A four of us at the table are gumbo aficionado's and not one of us could get past 2 spoonfuls. It came served with spanish rice....really!! Spanish rice with gumbo (culinary idiots). The fried oysters and shrimp were fried entirely to long and the grease it was fried in left a horrible taste in ones mouth. It is so hard to screw up shrimp that I was stupefied over how this so called chef could be so terrible. The lettuce for the salad was soggy and brown and the fries were burnt. This was just a complete culinary failure! They should be ashamed of themselves for even attempting to try and sell this place off as authentic Cajun food. My suggestion, move out of the state or close immediately. Don't waste you hard earned money here.

  • Dustin F.

NO GOOD! The only thing worse than the food is the service. We ate here recently and I was not at all impressed. The server took over an hour to take our order and the food surely was not worth the wait. When the waiter was asked about why service was taking so long he calmly answered "I have worthless busboys and I don't speak Spanish." WHAT?!? I had been told I could not go wrong with the Carne Asada and I figured it is pretty hard to screw up skirt steak, but was I wrong. The meat was tough as daddies boot, as flavorless as saltines and water, and it looked worst than it tasted. We rarely complain at a restaurant but took the time to do so on this particular evening. I can see why the staff here is so poor, the old saying is the fish stinks from the head down. Well after meeting this "head" you can truly appreciate why this fish stinks as it does. He offered no apology but rather was combative as to why it took over an hour to have our order taken. STAY AWAY!
