I could say so much but so little needs to be said so your interests will be peaked and you will go! I know you're thinking...it's just fried chicken and normally I would agree and I prefer another fast-food national chain that I won't mention so you don't discredit me. BUT..or ALAS.....here's what you need to know: I. Service = Brash & not always the friendliest. Just pay already. I think this location smiles a bit more but who cares...so long as they clean their hands and serve good food. II. Food = Always....You hear me.....ALWAYS: Hot, Fresh & Juicy b. they still offer bread rolls not a biscuit. c. Will always carry Strawberry POP (Soda for any Northerners that make it this way) d. Skinny, hot fries. e. Greasy but much need carb-loading dirty rice. OMG! f. I only eat white meat+fries+rice+red pop+pepper+extra roll. Ohhhhh! They have no regard for Diabetes/Heart Disease/Blood Pressure issues: the seasoning salt on those fries is DASHED ON and trust me you'll want it this way. Anything else just isn't SOUTHERN CLASSIC. III. Speed = It's a crap shot if the walk-up window is sometimes faster than the drive-thru but generally EVERYONE knows the routine so things move Expeditiously or refer back to Point I. (Remember! Service can be Brash; although I don't think it has ever been for me at this location) lol. I would enter rehab for this place since they take plastic nowadays (since 2009). I prefer the Monkhouse location as its closest to the airport and I think it was the original but look...I'm a Sport native and only learned about Southern Classic in the 2000's maybe '09. sad - yes. But I'm from another part of town and could care less to drive over "just for some chicken." I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT. It's worth the drive. Either location. I can't make this stuff up. You have to go and get it yourself. #Just Remember: Think SOUP NAZI a la Seinfield. Order, Move, Pay, Grab & Go. Don't talk back.

Was really excited to try this place based on the great reviews. While visiting a family member in the LSU hospital I sampled a 2 pc. dark with mashed potatoes & gravy. The chicken was yummy (isn't all fried chicken?) but the mashed potatoes weren't even remotely good. They tasted faintly of Indian food (turmeric possibly?). I'm a die hard gravy fan & their's was awful. The customer service was non existent. It pains me when employees act as though taking an order is an inconvenience. Won't be back.

I agonized a bit over whether to select fried chicken in general and Southern Classic specifically for dinner on our way home from our Florida vacation. So glad I did. The food was great, and the service was incredible. Drive thru was quick and easy. Chicken was freshly cooked and the fries were perfectly salted. Full bellies for the last leg (pun intended) of our trip. Kids and parents happy.

THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN IN SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER! Their bird is simple and clean...with just the right amount of spiciness! I have had the chicken from this location and the location on Hollywood Avenue several times. Both locations are superb and they never miss! The prices are quite nice as well. A 9-piece mixed will run you just $7.99! Southern Classic is better than the Colonel and it's better than Church's aaaaaaaand it's local! Support it! They only offer takeout and drive-thru at both locations.
