Healthy Meal suggestions for Outback Steakhouse

I've seen some negative reviews here, and I'm not exactly sure what substantiates those claims. I have always had good service at the Shreveport outback. Sure its a chain, but they have a clean, modern, and efficiently run restaurant. Every restaurant has an off day, but not everyone will bend over backwards to make something right. Outback will, as well as the Shreveport one. Anyways, on a note about the food: Get the 14 oz rib eye as it is an awesome steak. You can't go wrong here. Its been great.

Don't order Wings! Had lunch here. Ordered cup Tortilla Soup and appetizer wings. Soup was fine but wings were extremely greasy. Couldn't eat them. Bread was lukewarm. Very few customers, seemed to be fully staffed. Much better wings at Copelands!

As bad as it gets!!! This location needs some major work. Their staff is poor aside from the bartenders. I was told when I arrived at 6:30 it would be a 30 minute wait. After an hour passed, I checked in at the hostess station and was told it would probably be another 30 minutes. We decided to wait as we were there for my dad's birthday. We were seated about 15 minutes later. We were greeted by our waiter Bob promptly. We ordered a round of drinks and an appetizer. The appetizer came out pretty quick and was cooked to perfection. The drinks came out about 10 min after the app. A little bummed but I'm thinking no worries at this point. We ordered our meal when the waiter came back at roughly 8p. We did not get refills or food on our table until a little after 9. My medium rate prime rib was charred as well as my brothers. It should have never been brought to the table. Especially after no update/excise for the delayed service. My brothers wife's steak was cold as though had been sitting an hour. Three meals had to be sent back. Only one was reordered because at this point it's 9:30. We asked for the check and my meal to go. It took about 30 minutes and constant nagging to get my meal and CHECK!!! You should never have to hunt the waiter for the check. I spoke to the Gm and our meals were comped but the overall experience still goes down as one of the worst. We never got to order a dessert of sing happy birthday. What a ruined night!!!

I haven't been to the Shreveport Outback in a while, and last night's dinner reminded me why. It's just never a pleasant experience. Everything, from the noise level to the crowded feeling to the food.... just unenjoyable. Our waitress was friendly. Perhaps overly friendly. While checking my ID for a glass of wine, she informed me that I was the same age as her mother. :) My friend ordered soup, which was brought to the table before her meal. She said it was cold and watery. I ordered the mahi mahi. After waiting a long time for my food, it was brought to our table by someone besides our waitress. Immediately, my friend and I could both smell a very off-putting, strong fishy smell. I took one bite, and knew there was something not right with it. While waiting an extremely long time for the waitress to return, I ate the rice, veggies and bread. She finally returned and asked why I hadn't eaten it. When I told her, she didn't seem surprised or concerned. She offered to get the manager, but because we had already been there so long, I declined. She did remove the meal from my ticket. I should note that during our meal, I overheard two nearby tables sending their food back as well. One man said his steak was so fatty and tough, it was impossible to eat.

Good food, good service. Outback is a place I've come to rely on for a decent meal and this particular restaurant doesn't let that down. Sweet potatoes fries or the sweet potato, steak and ores mini milkshake well recommended.

Great food. Prime Rib "Outback Style" is the way to go.

This restaurant is popular, but way over rated. There is always a wait for this restaurant. I don't feel the food is worth it. The service is not good either. While we were waiting and waiting for our order to be taken or our food to be brought to us, our waitress was at the bar having a water fight.

I used to eat at this Outback at least once a week. I remember when it opened and how long the wait was for a table. After tonight, I don't think I will be going back. The place wasn't busy probably due to the inclement weather but it took a good 15 minutes before the waitress came by for a drink order. It took her another 10 minutes to come back and tell me that they don't sell what I had asked for. It took another 15 minutes to bring my substitute because "they had to get a bottle" of a featured wine from the store room. I wanted a new menu item (porterhouse pork) but she said they were out. I told her that I needed a minute to figure out what I wanted. She came back about 15 to 20 minutes later for my order. The bread had been eaten by the time she brought the beverages before my salad. She never once asked if I would like another loaf. My salad was not the freshest lettuce that I had ever had but I was starving and ate it. The 10 oz chargrilled ribeye that was ordered medium was cut so thin that there was barely any line of red in it.

I try to keep from writing up massive chains around here just because they are usually pretty uniform and once you've been to one here or one in Poughkeepsie, you've pretty much been to them all. It seems that everyone has been to Outback at some point in their lives so I'm not exactly treading new Earth here. I just thought I'd write up this location, because as far as the massive chains go, I hit this one about as frequently as I hit any other. I'd venture to say that I eat at this particular location 3 to 4 times a year. I think that would be a fair estimate. The thing about Outback and in particular, this Outback, is that it's always good. It's always decent. This location has been around for a good bit of time, I'd say anywhere from a decade to fifteen years or so, but it's still very clean. It's in a good area, where there's little-to-no competition, that is, there's like hardly any restaurants at all in this area. So, where else are you going to eat, really? It sits on the borders of the affluent (or as affluent as it gets around here) areas of Spring Lake and Ellerbe Road in south Shreveport, so it draws many in from that crowd. Business is always steady at this location. I haven't had to wait for a table in a while, but there are always people inside this place. I always order the six-ounce filet (The Outback Special) cooked medium well for $9.99 plus two sides, I usually get a potato of some sort and a salad choice or maybe steamed veggies. It's always good and the service is always tip-top. Outback is just dependable for a good, solid meal. And because I'm not Warren Buffett or Bill Gates, this place is usually where I choose to get my steak fix. (I mean, I'd love to hit up Village Grille, Jack Binion's, Superior Steakhouse or Ernest's every night, but reality is reality, know what I'm saying?) I just give this Outback props for always being consistent in the act of being good at everything that they do.

Shreveport seems like a decent town, but it has become pretty evident that good help is very hard to find. This issue plagues my client (not dining/food related) in the area and obviously many chain restaurants as well; as attention to detail and mgmt. follow through is lacking in many restaurants in the area. The review below will reflect my most recent dining experience, but my previous 2 visits were unimpressive as well. On my third and final visit here, I am swearing this place off for good. I sat at the bar again, this time with my co-worker and proceeded to order a quick app and 2 beers while we looked over the menu. Our app was dropped off, without plates and the bartender did not check on us for a while. Finally flagged him down and told him we were ready to order. I ordered a filet and soup; while my co-worker ordered some new fancy dinner salad (which he enjoyed). After about 15 min of waiting and no soup, I had a strong feeling that it was not coming. Like fk'n Carnac the Magnificent my prediction was spot on! I proceeded to inform the runner that I never got my soup. Her response was classic: I'll just bring it over. Ok, so I just let the filet and side chill, while you bring over the soup; won't the food get cold? Nope, she has a solution: Offered to place it under a heating lamp until I'm ready. So basically, their solution for screwing up is to place it under a lamp, lady not even McD's is letting food sit under a heating lamp anymore! I told her she can do it, but if the taste is off, they would have to redo the order. She proceeds to take the food away and bring my soup. The soup arrived promptly and it was cold(maybe it was the original one that was supposed to show up before my meal). I told the bartender to take it away and cancel my order. If they can't get simple shit right, I no longer wanted to eat there. Mgr came over and asked me what happened. C'mon kid, you already heard the story from the wait staff, why do I have to repeat it? I turned down his offer to get another entre as well as his offer for a free app next time I come in; as I had no plans to come back there again (even if I could use it at another Outback, didn't care!) He said he would take the meal of the bill, well not shit: I DID NOT EAT ANY OF IT! After this little adventure, my co-worker offered to walk out, but he seemed to be ok with his salad and I stayed around until he was done. The silly part is that he really enjoyed his salad, thanked the bartender and left a 20% + tip on the tab. Then proceeded to walk out behind me and with 4 staff members standing around the greeter stand (inc the front house mgr) no one thanked him for dining there, no one got the door (as Company policy says they should) and no one seemed to care. I am not holding this place on par with Superior, but this place is so inferior that it can't even compete with Logans, Salt Grass, etc

I stopped going here years ago. They could not cook a steak right. Every time it was way over done. Ordered medium and got well done or burnt. They have the standard steak selections. Always used A1 because the meat was flavorless. They always seem to have a big crowd so maybe they've gotten better.

We get takeout from Outback often and have been pleased but lately our favorite dish is the Tuna appetizer and it has been off lately.
