This restaurant has some of the BEST food in Shreveport (and you will be paying for it too $$$$). I had the salmon dish, and the salmon was so light and perfect. THe sauce was amazing on the salmon. The sauces are a little rich, but they taste delicious. I had a sample of my friend's lamb, and the sauce was a little too salty but still quite good. The meat was perfectly cooked and tender. For dessert, I had the white and dark chocolate torte which was fantastic too with just a dab of vanilla bean ice cream on the side. Great portions! My friend ordered the special which was Balsamic ice cream (you have read correctly). It was interesting to test it out, but the after taste was a little off. It would be perfect with some strudel of some sort. The atmosphere is so nice too in an old house that is kept up quite nicely. Highly recommended!

Was invited by some friends for their anniversary. We sat at the chef's table in a cove in the kitchen. Nine course meal paired with wine. Most amazing meal and dining experience ever.

Foodie for Shreveport for sure. Four courses averaged $75.00 with a bottle of wine for table. Cool place and great waiter.

No thanks. This place is over priced for the food and service we got. We will not be back. It's poorly decorated, outdated and drafty.

Probably one of the best kept secrets in Shreveport. Absolutely do not under any circumstances eat here without adding a soup as your appetizer. The owner/cook does soup like Tiger Woods does a 5-iron. The artichoke bisque is our favorite, but they are all fabulous (...and we've tried them all!). This place has a quiet, intimate feel to it; however, on the rare occasions it is available, you can eat at the chef's table in the kitchen....good times!

Probably the nicest place in Shreveport. Historic house atmosphere. Service was outstanding, as it should be for the price. Food was close to perfect. Great place for an anniversary or special night.

My favorite restaurant in Shreveport. I have been there twice and cannot get enough of it. I've never had such well prepared lamb as they have. Beautiful historic former residence with very classy but still cozy interiors and extremely knowledgeable and nice staff. Plenty of vegetarian options and possibility of a "chef's table" for those who like to see how food is being prepared. One of the best upscale dining experiences in my life.

Dine in an historic mansion. The chef is fantastic! One of my parents' favorite places, and I always enjoy going when I'm in town, too. I think I've been about 3 times now, and I always try to get my family there when I'm home. Very fancy, good for a nice dinner out. They have charming service, a knowledgeable wait staff, and there are always wonderful new Louisiana favorites on the menu. Romantic and unique. Call for reservations.

Let me start by telling you what I value in a good restaurant. First, the food preparation has to be excellent. Second, the service must be very good. Third, I usually want a quiet place that enables those eating to talk with each other comfortably. Fourth, if I am out for a good meal, I don't want to be bothered by other patrons with very young children yakking away. Fifth, I detest trying to make it through a meal with a large group of loud and half-inebriated convention or party goers. Now, Mabry House fits most of those criteria. First, I have lived in Shreveport about 10 years now, and Shreveport has a growing and reasonable stable of very good restaurants. Mabry House is one of those restaurants if you are looking for all or most of the criteria above. The restaurant is located in an old two story house in what used to be a very prestigeous neighborhood in Shreveport. Upstairs is largely reserved for large groups or meetings to dine. Downstairs is divided into an entrance hall / bar and three serving rooms which were essentially the living room, dining room, and a third room of the family who built the house. The kitchen and serving area is in the back of the first floor. The wait staff have been the same two or three fellows for the past 5 or 6 years. The older fellow who sports a pony tail is a bit eccentric but knows the food as well as the chef does and is very knowledgeable. Ask him anything. The younger college-aged waiter is equally knowledgeable and both provide excellent service which is attentive and prompt and accomplishes exactly what you want from waiters. The chef/owner (I forget his name) is excellent and my wife and I have never been served anything that was not beautifully prepared. Quality is reliable. Almost everything on the menu is prepared just a little bit differently than you have ever had the same thing elsewhere. The surprises are nice. The menu is varied but virtually always has four or five standard options plus some additional surprises or seasonal additions. Mabry House is a bit of a secret in Shreveport. They don't advertise at all (or very very little) and you have to hear about it through word of mouth. You tend to see repeat customers here and I would guess that what keeps Mabry House profitable and going are patrons 40 and up and pharmaceutical reps and physicians. It is one of the places that you take people if you want to impress them with what Shreveport has to offer. It is an excellent restaurant for a special meal. Because each room of the house (used as serving rooms) has 6 or 7 tables, the chef appears to try to put medium sized groups who tend to get loud in their own rooom leaving couples and foursomes in a room or two. Tables can still be fairly close together and one can still run into circumstances where you can hear the conversations of the table beside you better than you can hear your spouse or guest. Young children are uncommon and I hope that it stays that way. Cost is what you would expect to pay for a very good meal with entre costs last time I was there from $20 to $40. A couple eating here with a bottle of wine will usually spend $100+ Mabry House is one of my three fine-dining favorites in Shreveport and if that is what you are looking for, give them a try. I doubt very much that you will be disappointed.
