It's been a while since we've eaten here but I doubt we'll be going back anytime soon. First and foremost the place is overpriced. Plain and simple. I suspect you're paying for the atmosphere because it's definitely not the food. We called ahead and made reservations. They let us know the only spots they had available were on the patio. No big deal. It was a relatively nice day ( a bit humid) so we didn't mind. We got there and they had our table in full sunlight with one side of the table looking directly into the sun. When we sat down one complete side of the table couldn't see because the sun was glaring right in their faces. So we asked could we move to another spot, which there were two open spots that could fill our party easily. The hostess acts like she couldn't move us. So we asked were those empty places reserved? They weren't so why couldn't we go over there? We finally had to point blank tell the girl that we weren't sitting in the sun period. So move us. We finally got seated, ordered food and enjoyed our time together. But like I mentioned earlier, the menu is overpriced for the quality of food you get. Nicky's and El Chico's Mexican Restaurants serve equally good food for cheaper prices.

Margaritas are good but food is not impressive. Overpriced for what it is. Meat was burnt, queso was burnt & nothing had flavor.

The warm salsa is great, the cold salsa is average. The place doesn't look like a Mexican restaurant inside nor out; that can be plus or minus depending on your taste. I got the brisket tacos and yes, they are good. But, El Mariachi has better at a better price. My friend did not like her enchiladas, she said they are a lot better at Superior Grill with a better atmosphere and a better price. So all I can tell you is that if you want Mexican food in a Mexican looking atmosphere at a reasonable price, skip this place. There are better.

My first visit to Cantina Laredo left a lot to be desired. For instance, I desired... ... for the guacamole to be slightly better. It was pretty good, but I'd heard that it was top-of-the-line. Close, but not quite to that level. ... for the shredded beef enchiladas to have more flavor. The brown sauce smothered across the top carried some kick, but it seemed like the heat was just there to mask the fact that there was really no flavor. ... for our server to be a little bit less weird. He wasn't too fast or too slow, but just too weird. I guess that's more of a critique of this one person than of Cantina Laredo as a whole, but whatever. He still affected my experience. ... for it to be a little cheaper. This is Shreveport, Louisiana! I feel like the food at Superior is both better AND cheaper. It's a great thing to return to my childhood home and find it booming with new restaurant options, but this is one I won't be back to again.

Upscale environment + presentation with the upscale price to match. Unfortunately, I've had much better food out of the side of a truck. The food was not bad, but not great either. The complimentary chips and salsa were fine, with 2 types of salsa provided (spicy and mild). The classic mojito looked very fancy, but it was too sweet, and without enough carbonation. The carnitas tacos I ordered came out fast, maybe too fast. The servings of rice an beans looked small but were a decent amount. The tacos themselves were fine. The flavor was good, with good pork flavor and a sauce with just enough bite. But for $14, they should've been better than just good. Maybe this place is good for some after-work drinks and to share a plate as finger food? Hmmmmm.

One of the better upscale Mexican restaurants in Shreveport/Bossier. The atmosphere is classy Tex-Mex and is located in a strip mall with pretty decent stores (according to the wifey at least). What I like: The chips and salsa are delicious and my wife and I crave it all the time. Their food is also very good quality and tasty. They also have a good selection of drinks and margaritas. Like I was saying before the atmosphere has a clean fresh look and feel. What I don't like: It's a little pricey but you do get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend this place!

Very creative menu. Food is good. Upscale Mex food - if you want regular tacos and enchiladas this isn't the place for you. I have had enchiladas with artichokes and other interesting ingredients. Good tequila/margarita selection.

The food was par and the service was even worse. Took more than 15 minutes to receive our drinks and then another 15 for the waitress to come back and take our order. Then, we ordered cheese dip which was forgotten about and upon my husband reminding her when being served our meal and informing her we no longer wanted it, she said "oh, ok". No apology for her mistake or anything. I understand they were busy (not by he time we left since every other person that was seated outside with us had already eaten and left) but her lackluster attitude made Cantina Laredo a first and last experience for us. Way too expensive for food that tastes as if it was frozen and crappy service to top it off.

Fine Tex-Mex at it's best. Quite frankly, Shreveport is lucky to have Cantina Laredo... This chain is arguably the best Mexican food in Dallas and Austin... Think about that for a second. I wanted to mention that Cantina is now offering Brunch on Sundays which includes a complimentary Bloody Maria or Mimosa. I recommend the Crab Cakes Benedict, the Chorizo con Huevos and the Chicken Fajita Omlet. SUNDAY BRUNCH is coming along strong in Shreveport, Louisiana. Glad to see Cantina Laredo joined the party!

Absolutely disappointing. Food was incredibly slow. Wait staff was inattentive. Retried beans looked like they had been under the warmer all morning (and it was lunchtime) and the rice was hard.

I think what you expect and are in the mood for in terms of food and ambiance greatly influence ratings. That said, when I want to go to a place that serves refined mexican food with a nice atmosphere, this is it. The warm salsa is really good, slightly disappointed in the flavors of the fresh guacamole. I always get the botanas appetizer sampler, which includes a really good chile relleno, and the steak cube on the skewer is really good. Another favorite is the espinaca ( spinach) enchilada with white sauce, very rich and creamy. Recently had a group dinner with some coworkers and we reserved a private room in the back, which is very quiet and nice. We had great service from Kyle that night, but another time I went there was a really excellent waitress also, I believe her name was Adelia.

This is by far the best Mexican food in Shreveport. The guac is made tableside, the queso is excellent, as well as the fajitas. The only improvement they should make is make their own tortillas.

I generally don't give a restaurant a negative review based on only one experience, but in this case I can't comment on the food or waitstaff , because we never got seated. My wife's family had been prior to our visit and talked about how much they enjoyed the food , so we decided to give to a try on a recent Friday night, The place was packed (understandable) and we waited along with a lot of other people for a table to open up. Politely checked back in with one of the hostesses after about thirty minutes ( because there seemed to be a lot of confusion at the hostess station) to remind her we were still waiting, told it probably wouldn't be that much longer, However after about another thirty minutes went by my wife noticed that at least two other parties that had come in after us were getting seated. When we pointed this out, the hostess got defensive (practically indignant) and denied having done so, even though it was obvious. I decided at that point we we would just leave and told her so. Got no apology, no nothing. Had I not been so tired (and starving) by this point, I would have asked to speak to a manager. Have no way of knowing if our experience was typical or not, but bottom line for me is there are too many other places around town that we have been to without this issue, so we probably won't be coming back here.

2 words - Brisket tacos!!!! They have names for the 2 types of salsa they serve but i can't remember what they are right now - however go with the darker, smokey tasting kind they offer. It's outstanding.

The chili on the enchiladas was bitter. The nachos were stone cold. The only time we saw the waitress after she dropped off the food was when she was across the restaurant texting. This place is too unpredictable. Not going back.

Best place to go for an exceptional night out. Atmosphere, food, wait staf and managers are all on top of their game here.

Not very impressed with the "gourmet Mexican food" the menu selection and favors are the same that you can find at other local Mexican joints in the Shreveport/Bossier area. The only advantage that Cantina Laredo has is its atmosphere and setting. The restaurant has an upscale and classy feel, but you go to a restaurant for the food first, the atmosphere is second. The presentation of the food was as expected at a gourmet level restaurant, but when it comes down to it, the food needs to sell itself, not how it is shaped on your plate. Had the Carne Asada, which had a unique twist of adding a chimichurri sauce, the rice was dry and bland. The Carne Asada was quite tough, and with a knife I still had a challenge cutting through the meat. I also had a chance to taste the Mole sauce, again not very impress, it was missing the chocolate component of a mole sauce, the mole at Don Juanz is better. One positive note is, the drinks are very good, had no complaints from the table on the margaritas that were ordered. The service is also very lack luster. We were in a party of six, they brought the food in 3 different waves. At most restaurant, you typically want to serve it all at once. They made a mistake on one of the orders, and then didn't bring the last order of one of the guest, until almost everyone was done with their dishes. Hopefully others would get better service, I probably won't return again. I think this restaurant will still get the great reviews, because it's pricy and trendy. But if the food and service doesn't sell, It's success won't last for long.

I love this place! I always have! I know it's a chain, but as far as chains go, I still love it! I like the Cal-Mex angle and this comes from a Tex-Mex lover's heart! I love the artichoke and avocado enchiladas, the queso, the ceviche and the Mexican apple pie with cinnamon ice cream served on a sizzling pan, is one of the best desserts here locally! This restaurant has a great vibe to it. This is a great place also to have your birthday! This is my 2nd favorite Mexican restaurant in this area! It's still great, though. Superior Bar and Grill is my favorite!

About a year ago, I was visiting my old homebase of Orlando, and friends we were meeting for dinner suggested "a great Mexican place". We met them here, and I remember feeling dismay looking at the menu. $13 for two tacos? I mean... that's just stupid. When I went into Cantina Laredo a few weeks back, I realized-- this was the same place I'd been to in Orlando. I hadn't realized that it was a chain. That's your first mistake: Never go to a chain Mexican restaurant. It's about as Mexican as Olive Garden is Italian. We went as the lunch hour was winding down, and though we were a ten top, the few tables that were left around us had either had their check dropped or were waiting for their food to be cleared. All the same, our waitress/busser took a solid 15 minutes to take any drink orders. Strangely, margaritas made it to the table before sodas, and in one case, a water. It was another 10 or so minutes after that before anyone took our order, neglecting to ask if anyone wanted an appetizer. When one companion did ask for some guacamole, the waitress looked put out. I actually caught her shooting glares at a number of people at my table, though no one was being demanding or frivolous. The tacos were just fine, taste-wise. The black beans I asked for came out suspiciously looking like refried beans, and the plate was so hot I wouldn't be surprised if they just microwave everything back there a la Olive Garden. For the price though, they totally were not worth it. I was surprised there wasn't a lunch menu or any lunch specials. I can't remember what time we were there-- maybe 1:30? At least before 2. If there IS a lunch menu surely it wouldn't have been pulled that early... You don't have to go find a taco truck in Queens or Los Angeles and get a taco for $2; there are cheaper Mexican places around Shreveport that are more authentic. Maybe "authentic" scares some people off around here, and that's why people are so excited over a hackneyed place like Cantina Laredo. But it's average, with a decor that looks like someone armed with a number of Martha Stewart Living magazines had overseen, and nothing more than that.

The "famous" table-side guacamole isn't very good. The food is typical Mexican-chain, the parking is terrible, and the crowd is obnoxious. My parents (in their 60s) love this place, but I think it's just because they, for some reason, think it's "cool." They are wrong.

Ill start off by saying that this is one of the nicer mexican restaurants in Shreveport - more so than Superior and El Chicos. It has more of a modern decor. As far as the food, the chips and salsa are both very good (free too). They give 2 types of salsas to eat. The queso is excellent and the pina colada margarita is awesome. I was stuffed before the entree even got there but it was good too. The desserts looked really good...basically it was all very good. If you are choosing one place for mexican, definitely go here. It's one of my favorite mexican restaurants I have ever eaten at.

This isn't your more typical Tex-Mex type Mexican restaurant, but rather a more upscale one. The food is good, but (I think) people come here more for the pleasant atmosphere.

I'm not sure but there must be more than one location of "Cantina Laredo" in Shreveport (there's not) because I cannot fathom how three people would give this place 5 stars. Sure they serve free chips and sauce as all Mexican Food restaurants do. My problem is the place is so very inconsistent. I've been once and the food was good... I've been back several times over the last year or so and the food was so so at best. The last time we went my wife ordered the shrimp flautas and was sick before we got home! The shrimp were not cooked completely and as the lights were dim she didn't notice until it was too late! The restaurant itself is nice. It's new and the decor is appealing. Of course that's the easy part. The things that make you money in the restaurant business is what hurts this Cantina Laredo; inconsistent food; cold food and spotty service. My recommendation would be to save yourself 10 bucks and just eat at an El Chico. If you do eat here keep your expectations low i.e. you just don't want to be hungry. If El Chico is a Chevy Malibu... Cantina Laredo is a Pontiac Grand Am.... Same food (car) different name.

Overall the experience was pretty good. The sign says gourmet mex food but there was really no difference from any other good mexican place. The surroundings are very nice but for me the best Mexican food comes from. a hole in the wall with authinic Mexican food.

Food is always good but I am reviewing service now. Just tried to call in a surprise drink order for my staff and the manager was not willing to look for them to provide the drinks. Asked me to text them to contact him. Kind of defeats the purpose of a surprise. I had given a descriptiin of a clothing item (very distinct post operative boot) to the hostess but seems this would still be too difficult for him. Too bad. It may be a while before I return for dinner or another company party in the back room.

Nice decor, very good layout of the restaurant. The food I had (steak tacos) was pretty good, but not outstanding. Not what I really expected... I will say this about the food; the warm salsa, with the roasted peppers, etc. was very, very, good. If I could offer one suggestion to the staff regarding service, keep your head up and make eye contact. There were several occasions where I wanted something but could not get anybody's attention.

I would rate this restaurant higher if it weren't for the terrible customer service. It has been an issue every time I've been here. Yet I return. Mainly because of the yummy ceviche and margaritas. There will come a point- and it may be today- where the poor customer service outweighs the food and drinks and I don't return. Today, I waited 10 min to have my table cleaned and 20 minutes before receiving a glass of water. The staff treats the customers like an inconvenience.

Always great!!!! Love the smoky warm salsa and smoky grilled chicken taste of their food! Also love the strawberry and mango margaritas! This place is awesome every time! Fresh ingredients!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
