When I first moved here I looked up places on yelp and found this place. I expected to sit down and have lunch but it is not a sit down place. It is more like a store that has different types of food you can purchase. There are cooked and frozen meals and also uncooked meats. There is a variety of different foods that Louisiana is known for. I stop by here once in a while for my favorite snack, boudin balls. They are always warm and delicious. I have also tried the premade gumbo and shrimp etoufee. Both are delicious and I would by them again. This is great little shop for a quick snack or dinner/lunch for later.

I went to Bergeron's to fill my coolers with Louisiana goodness to bring back to Atlanta. The case next to the register was filled with ready-to-eat items like boudin, boudin balls and crawfish pies. I ordered one of the crescent shaped pies to nibble while I shopped. Since this was my first visit I asked the cashier for a few recommendations. She said the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo is really popular. The way she raised her eyebrows as she said it was key. It was almost an alarmed expression from someone who had witnessed customers fighting over the last container of gumbo. With that, I made a beeline for the row of large freezers stocked with an assortment of frozen heat-and-eat items: Boudin Balls, Crawfish Pies, Shrimp and Corn Soup, Gumbo (Seafood/ Chicken & Sausage/ Duck & Andouille), Sausages, Alligator Meat, Crawfish Tails, Stuffed Chickens (bursting with crawfish rice dressing), Stuffed Bell Peppers and more. Now that I've made it home and tasted the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo I'm kicking myself for not buying more than two. It was deeelicious! I felt like the dancing pig on their store sign when I tasted it. There were tender strands of chicken in every bite and the chunky disks of homemade sausage kicked the flavors up into the stratosphere. If only I could travel through the wormhole back to that day at Bergeron's. Fortunately, I bought two packages of crawfish pies so I will attempt to savor them slowly. The people of Shreveport are lucky to have this place!

Everything I dreamed of. I am a Virginian born and raised, turned on to Boudin and real smoked sausage by transplanted Cajuns living in Virginia who would bring back the goods from Louisiana. I have since deemed myself knowledgeable about Boudin especially and have made my own on several occasions. I have, along with my Cajun friends found and order a couple times a year the best Boudin available. It is from southern Louisiana but I wont mention the place in case this site does not like you to mention competitors. The female wife/owner at Bergeron's assured me their Boudin would be as good or better than the afore-unmentioned competitor so I bought some to take home to VA as we were passing through Shreveport from Texas. We were not disappointed...not as good as the best, but the absolute second best I have found. I loaded up on Boudin, andouille and smoked sausage to the tune of about 90 bucks worth and traveled with it in a cooler, and in hotel fridges until we made it home to Virginia. Everything is fantastic, just wonderful. The smoked sausage is proper...the real deal. If you are eating that pink supermarket stuff called smoke sausage you have not had proper smoked sausage. In fact, if you are eating that pink supermarket stuff called polska kielbasa, you need to find a German place and change your world. I made gumbo using the andouille...delicious. I could not be happier. I HAVE to call and see if they will dry ice ship. Be aware, this is a market, not a restaurant, but locals are extremely lucky to have this place because they can bring a meal home of various varieties. Also, be aware they are not open late! They close at like 5PM or something like that. Bergeron's makes me wish I lived in Shreveport...but Virginia is so much more beautiful, I wish Bergeron's would open a place near my house.

5 star meat market all the way! I'm from Shreveport, currently living in Colorado. I stopped in at Bergeron's on a recent visit home and loaded up an ice chest full of deliciousness! Boudin balls, smoked boudin, an assortment of delicious smoked sausages, andouille, crawfish etouffee, stuffed hens, chickens, crawfish pies, meat pies.....all delicious! The fresh crawfish pies and boudin balls were so good we ate them in the car in the parking lot. Everything else got frozen and brought back to CO with me. I have enough cajun goodness to last me a few weeks. Along with Johnny's pizza, this will be a must stop for me on my rare trips home.

I was in town visiting my daughter and found this place on Yelp. We stopped in early afternoon anticipating sitting down and having lunch. When we walked in we realized this isn't a place designed as a sit down restaurant. They did have a selection of items to purchase which were cooked that you could eat on the go or as take out. Unfortunately when we got there the station with the hot items was already empty. Fortunately the employees are super nice and very accommodating. They made a few recommendations ran to the back and started frying up some good Louisiana cooking. We had a couple different versions of boudin balls and they were phenomenal. We also bought a container of gumbo to cook at home. Report from my daughter who cooked it a week or so later is that too was very tasty. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping in to this place. It seems lunch time is very busy for good reason but get there around noon and try some of the fried the delights they have to offer. If you live in the area or are visiting and have somewhere to store food, they have a lot of great items you can purchase and make at home. When I visit I will definitely be back to this place.

Fun local place to stop! We picked up lunch driving through town. Everything was very good but our favorite was the pepper jack boudin balls!

This is great place to have around for local Cajun flavor. We did not pick up any sausages at this time, but did sample a boudin ball, and a crab pistolette, both nice Cajun snacks for us. Lady told us the various sausages go for about $4 per lb, as prices are not marked (??). I liked the rustic decor including the frying pan used as their door handle. Will try to be back sometime.

Always amazing! I love the boudin balls and smoked sausage, they make a great lunch on the go... I will often pick up the stuffed chicken and make a meal for dinner. Exceptionally flavored everytime. Everything they offer has been wonderful.

TOTALLY digging on this place!!! I...LOVE...it! This litle log cabin of a place, across from LSU-S on E. KIngs, in that weird little curve in the road, makes the tastiest meats and dishes! If you are from outside of Louisiana, you MUST hit this place, if only for the ambience! The everso delicious Boudin balls are 89 cents a piece and are made ready to eat right there on the spot. As are there crawfish meat pies, which cost a little bit more. They sell many fresh but frozen, ready to heat and eat dishes that are homemade. I picked up a container of chicken and sausage gumbo as well as a container of red beans and sausage. Got home, thawed them, threw them both in their own pots and heated them up, made a huge thing of my own rice and the it was on like Grey Poupon! Both dishes as well as the Boudin balls were awesome! All in all, I spent like 18 bucks, ate at home and fed two and a bebe! Not bad price wise, and very tasty! Seriously, out of towners, need to flock here. I even like the frying pan door knob on the front door that they use for entry to this place, I will be back! They also sell their very own seasoning and rubs. This is more of a market than a restaurant, but you can get all of your stuff to go. They should add a tiny little restaurant aspect to it, though. Throw out a coupla chairs and tables. Lots of great restaurants start out as markets!
