I've been here twice. One time the food was okay. They don't stiff you on the cheese. If you order something with cheese, it is overrun with cheese. So if you like cheese, that's a plus. However, I would not recommend going here. The last time I went there was a big piece of metal in my food. It looked like a large staple used in construction. If I hadn't bit it and had just swallowed it, that might have been a serious health problem. They did take the taco off the bill, but I was still pretty freaked out by that experience.

I've been going to this Corona location for about 2 years now pretty consistently on a bi-weekly basis. When I got there this past Saturday for lunch there was 1 table clean in the restaurant which I happily took. I know this place is alway busy for lunch but it was about 2pm. Right away I saw that there was 2 waitress and only 1 cook in the kitchen. We waited about 5 minutes before our drink order was taken and we also ordered the queso dip. The waitress was not only serving and taking orders but was also helping prep food. Also the server was taking money and also grabong the chips with her bare hands. This is when I ask myself where is the manager or owner this place is locally ran and there was zero management. Well after our chips and queso where finished finally our server comes back and we ordered some tacos. Guests were getting up cleaning there own tables it was a complete mess. Finally at about 2:40 manager finally arrives. Things really don't get any better the servers were too far in the weeds to have a big impact plus he doesn't get very physical. My food was wrong I had asked for 3 tacos with flour tortillas I got 2 and my wife asked for 2 tacos with corn tortillas and she got 3. We couldn't tell the server fast enough because she threw the food at us so quick and ran off. I did ask for another flour tortilla which she forgot about and brought the check before I was done. I did eventually get the tortilla. The server says after she comes back with the bill once she charged my card "I forgot to ask I you want any dessert". Really! I want to know what has happened to this place? Guess I'll be trying out the Harahan local next.

Just as good if not better than the uptown location. The cebollitas are surprisingly delicious (grilled green onions). The California Burrito is both delicious and filling. These people are El Salvadorean or Honduran, but the food they make is very Mexican, and VERY delicious. Highly recommended.

I had a shrimp quesadilla that was quite delicious, but I just found nine dollars to be a little bit pricey for a quesadilla. At home in California, I can get a quesadilla of the same taste and quality for five dollars maximum

Places is awesome.... Food is good (esp the ribeye tacos) and prices and services really good.... Only downside is the owner, he can be a bit rude, but other than that I would recommend in a heartbeat.....

I dont know what the hype is about. This place was terrible. I waited 45 Minutes for my California burrito that I watched them microwave and then put on a plate warming table before bringing to me. Their food was bland and they didnt even give you chips and salsa. Definatly wont be going back. El YUCKOooo experience.

This place is the only restaurant i go to for mexican. The only amazing fish tacos you can get in the city!!! Also try their black bean soup, out of this world. I go here once a week. My husband is from Houston and he gives this place 5 stars. Also Mario the owner takes amazing care of you and comes to shake your hand and greet you. He'll do anything to make your meal as special as you need it to be. A + service!

I am from California where Mexican food is eaten from birth. I cook enchiladas and rice from scratch. I make my own beans. I make my own tacos. I love mexican food! That being said, my one and only trip for mexican during my stay in NOLA was completely different from my experiences back home! Here, chips and salsa are not free. Whaaaaa???? You charge $3 for chips and salsa? That's crazy talk. It was good (and potentially homemade) pico with store bought chips. I ordered a shrimp taco and a grilled chicken taco, which came up at $8. Seriously. $8 for two tacos? I can get these back home for half that! Not only that, but they don't come with anything. Just a tortilla, the meat and pico. They don't bring you rice... beans... anything. For $8! I did order the rice as a side and in turn received a nice scoop of bland rice. I also ordered a side of sour cream which was more like a crema than anything, and again I was charged. The grilled chicken had good flavor, but the shrimp was lacking in the flavor department. The food was ok, but the server was ridiculously rude. You could've sworn I interrupted his lunch or something when I walked in and inconvenienced him with my order. Not a place I would seek out again in the future!

I've yet to sit in this place and eat. I only get take out but from what I can tell the place is a place to sit and enjoy. I've been getting the ala carte tacos which is the beef the pork and the chicken. the black beans, on the other hand, and rice are very special to me though. it dosent seen as if it just a side. I'm a fan but I cant give it a top review till I sit my butt down and eat. So till then i'll be a repeat take out customer.

This si the TC closest to my work, so consequently this is the one I frequent the most. The staff here are some of the friendliest most accomodating (although sometimes oslammed and overworked) staff of the restaurants I frequent. Great food as with any TC.

Taqueria Corona is one of our "go to" restaurants. The food is always good and staff is always great. The cebollitas are our favorite starter. Who knew a plate of seasoned, grilled green onions could be considered a suitable appetizer but believe me they are really good. My bf loves the pollo asado. It is a marinated grilled chicken breast that comes with beans, rice, cebollitas, pico de gallo and flour tortillas. The chicken is very flavorful and juicy. He thinks it's the best chicken in the city! I usually get the California burrito with no meat. It is absolutely huge (I've never finished it!) and comes stuffed with black beans, rice, guacamole, lettuce and lots of cheese. I always ask for green sauce to put on top which gives my burrito a spicy, vinegary edge. Other things we've enjoyed: Mexican pizza (chicken) - really, really good but can't be good for you, American tacos - good but the shell gets soggy and falls apart, fish tacos - tasty but the fish is fried, and the flautas are very good too. And, I can't forget the margaritas! I always order a top shelf with patron. I don't want to get anyone in trouble and I won't say which location I was at when I experienced this (not my usual Severn location) but once I did have an older waitress who took a shot of patron for herself every time I ordered a margarita...it was a fun night!

Wow... this restaurant is definitely all it's cracked up to be. Definitely order the cheese dip (FUNdido). It was a piping hot bowl of smoky, cheesy, spicy (but not too much) goodness! The Tacado salad with chicken was excellent with a giant serving of grilled chunk chicken breast coupled with excellent guacamole. The Numero Uno plate was also quite good... featuring a fantastic chicken soft taco. The service was friendly and very fast. Suffice it to say, it will be hard for me not to return to Taqueria Corona the next time I'm in Kenner.

Fundido dip was very good as were the tacos! Enchilada had a bit too much cheese. Not my favorite Mexican food but definitely cleared my plate and left satisfied - chips were also really nice :-)

Ok so I am reading all these reviews and I'm literally shocked at how many people think this place is good? I found nothing good about it. My entire experience sucked except that I got to spend time with my husband during his workday. He said he'd eaten there once before and it was kinda good. I should've known then but we were both so hungry I said "fine". Big mistake. First it's so busy and we are all packed in like sardines. That's fine willing to overlook. You have to buy chips, annoying but this is the second place I've been to here that charges. Where I'm from they're free and unlimited. We get chips and guac. I ask for some salsa on the side. We did not order the pico but got salsa on the side. The guac is literally a brownish green. We eat it anyways. It was not good, not awful either but the salsa was literally the worst I've ever tasted. It tasted like ketchup with some alcohol in it. I'm guessing it was so old it was fermenting. We couldnt even eat it. My burrito comes out and it's barely got sour cream on it, In fact theres barely anything in it but this disgusting goop. I take my first bite and it was just terrible. It wasn't refriend beans and it wasn't Black beans like I expected. It was like a runny black bean slop. There was barely any lettuce and the small amount that was in it was completely mushy bc it sat inside the burrito with the hot slop. So I ask for tomatoes and lettuce. That helped a little plus I doused it in the verde sauce she brought out upon my request after i realized this burrito was not edible unless I doctored it up. I actually ate it bc I was so hungry, knowing I'd regret it later. Then we get the bill and got charged 7.50 for the chips and guac. She also charged me for the tomatoes even though the ingredients that were supposed to be on it were so skimpy basically all I was eating was a mouthful of tortilla and Goopity goop. I explained to the server that we were charged for chips, guac and pico but didn't get pico. Her response "well you got salsa and it's basically the same thing". Oh really? It's actually not the same thing but whatever. I explained to her how awful it was and showed her the dish literally filled with the unused salsa so she took it back down to just the chips and guac. I'm giving a two star because my husband said his food(fish tacos) was ok. I will never eat here again!!!

Awesome restaurant! I came here with a co-worker for lunch, and the place was pretty busy. I ordered a variety of tacos and absolutely loved it. The Carne Asada taco was awesome with a huge portion of meat (oh boy oh boy). And, although probably not a crowd favorite, the Beef Tongue taco was also very tasty. It was the first time I've had tongue in my taco... and I think I'll definitely go back for more. (Head outta the gutter, my dirty friends.)

Another favorite of mine & my honey's!! love their food - we always get the chips & pico de giuo (did I spell that right?) - that is soo good! & I get one of 2 things - either the black bean soup (minus the cheese - although that is really good to keep in) but I will add chopped avocado (side order) - yum!! my other fav is the Carne Asada taco mmmmmm!!! My honey gets the taco salad & always enjoys that - or something else that is smothered w/ cheese - looks fab (& hey melted cheese - for real - YUM-O!!) the staff are great - really friendly!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
