Oh my goodness, this place is adorable! It's like a magical sparkle land!! I'm disappointed it's taken me this long to walk in and experience. I took advantage of the seasonal items today for my 1st visit (since they won't always be there). I got the Muses Latte ( white chocolate lavender with espresso). The flavor was interesting to say the least but smooth and creamy to boot. My friend got the Rex latte (cinnamon and vanilla, maybe?) and really enjoyed. We took advantage of checking in on Yelp and getting a free macaroon in return too! Right after you check in, a coupon-like message appears on your screen, you show the staff and **boom** Free macaroon of your choice! We got the seasonal macaroons since they are not always an opt ion-Mardi Gras flavor and white chocolate raspberry! Yum! There are so many options of delicious-looking treats here, it's as if the options are endless. I will be back to try ALL THE THINGS! (Especially a new flavored latte-not trying the muses again; blech!)

It's good! That's all you need to know. Go get some! I had the cookies and cream cupcake (picture posted).

This place is always an after-dinner stop for my husband and I when we want to splurge on dessert. The decor alone makes it a stand out; it's just so darn pretty! Speaking of pretty, you can tell how detailed they are right down to every macaroon. The presentation is out of this world. We love the gelato, and we really love the s'mores skillet. With all of that detail comes a hefty price tag, but it's okay to indulge in a 9.00 dessert every once in a while, right? Coffee is good, sundaes are great...this place is a step above your regular dessert shop!

When my coworker told me about this place, I really didn't believe him. But when I walked by, it was like a glittery heaven awaiting me. And I swear it really did sparkle!!! It's king cake season so I will admit the king cake macaroon drew me the rest of the way in... :) and I was not disappointed. First the place has an ultra clean white look. It makes everything pop and look good. The gelato station had a ton of flavors that looked amazing. Of course I was mesmerized but the macaroons. So many flavors!! I had to get the king cake flavor and chicory flavor. First I loved the vibrant colors to the king cake macaroon... purple filling. Sweet but not overly sweet. So glad I got two. The chicory flavor was also very good since I had it for breakfast!! :) They can also make you a macaroon tower. Looks so good. I also stared at their king cake. So tempted to get a slice. So sparkly... oh and the macaroons had a sparkle to them too... I really want another...

I ate a $4 cupcake. I wasn't entirely sure what a $4 cupcake should taste like, but I kind of expected something involving magical unicorns and rainbows. Sadly, all I got out of it was a cupcake... a very delicious cupcake, but, a cupcake. As others have said, everything at Sucre seems to be a tad overpriced. It's all amazingly delicious, and if I were rich I would probably come here for a treat more often... but I'm not. Why did I get a $4 cupcake? Same reason I gave Sucre 4 stars instead of 3. They had a Cupcake Challenge early on in the 2014/15 school year for some of the local area schools. My daughter's school (the only public school that made it to the final round) was in the running, so I made an effort to spend an absurd amount of money on cupcakes. Not just $4. It was $4 x 8. Eight cupcakes, $32, over the course of a week. Ugh. However, being a public school up against private school money, I figured I should do my best to help out the cause. The winning school would get a prize, after all. Her school didn't win, but the concept was cool, hence the 4 star rating for creativity and helping the kids. But seriously, $4 per cupcake? C'mon...

Absolutely loveee their gelato ice cream! Their choices of cakes slices are fantastic& delicious!! Macarons are a lot to choose from and is great! Love the atmosphere! I will always come here for desserts!

This place is Incredible! Ugh- wish we had one in Dallas!!!! They have desserts for miles. Ice cream, macarons, cake, cupcakes, chocolates and the list goes on. There's something for everyone- literally! I had a: Macchiato- very flavorful, didn't even need to add sugar. Almond Macaron- perfectly sweet, I love the flavor of almond. Wedding Cake Chocolate- Not only did it look like a teeny tiny wedding cake, it tasted like it too! Overall, it was the perfect treat. The decor is beautiful, their dessert are gorgeous works of art. Please come to the Dallas area!!! Please?!

I love this place no matter how much their sweets cost me! Sure, it's a little pretentious, and the non-stop crowds of giggly high school kids all taking selfies around me gets a little overwhelming, but....I'll put up with it for a Sucre cappuccino and sweet treat. Oddly enough, it's actually their cappuccinos that I'm the biggest fan of here instead of the desserts. I don't know why it's different from any other cappuccino but I swear their espresso has way more punch in it than other places because it will keep me awake for HOURS! I've never had a coffee/cappuccino wake me up the way this one does. I know, I really can't explain it either. Sure, their gelato is good, and their macaroons are fluffy and pretty colors, and basically everything has edible glitter on it.....but the truffles and cupcakes/sweet treats are the most worthy Sucre contestants in my humble opinion. I can get good gelato and sorbet at the store, but I can't get these amazing (practically designer) truffles! I got everyone on my Christmas gift list last year a small box of them and I got nothing but good feedback from people who said they never even had stepped foot into a Sucre before, but where now changed believers. It's the perfect gift for those "that random guy at the office..." or, "what does one get a 60+ year old woman besides a candle anyways?" situations. The cupcakes are worth a shot as well! Now, they are good and all, but they are also filled with cream/icing/etc. so they are EXTREMELY rich and dense. As in, I couldn't even eat my whole cupcake because I could feel the tremor of a diabetic shock coming on. It was just a bit of sweetness overload for me. Having said that, before I surrendered, it was definitely the best red velvet cupcake I'd ever eaten before. I know everyone says they are overpriced...and they are...but I only go here and there when I'm in the mood to really spoil myself so I can't complain too much. Now, my younger sister and all her friends are obsessed with Sucre (hence the whole teeny bopper attraction I referenced earlier) and so if I was a parent buying all this stuff all the time for a herd of kids I would probably then start to put my foot down on the prices. But for now, it's just me, and my sweet treat :-)

One of the best sweet shops in New Orleans and great for gifts! We got a chocolate box, two bags of peppermint patties, and a tin of glazed pecans to bring back home as gifts. The packaging looks great and it's better for gifting than pralines (too sweet for most people) and more unique that the typical Cafe du Monde stuff. The king cake is one of the best! Gelato is pretty good. Cupcakes are imaginative although a little too sweet for me.

I usually go to the Sucre on Magazine, but I stopped here recently for my sister's birthday. Just like the other location, the staff is extremely helpful in helping you decide what you want. They were actually offering free chocolate samples at this location when I went, which was a treat. This store is definitely bigger than the Magazine location, and it was a lot less crowded. But the same atmosphere nonetheless. Like the other store, it is kinda pricey hence the 4 stars.

On our last day of vacation we decided dessert for breakfast was in order and we also promised a bunch of our Austin friends that we would bring them back macaroons! Everything on display looked so beautiful that you felt bad ordering it and eating it. I am not a sweets or dessert person but, this place even got me! I ordered a small box of macaroons to go as a gift and the lady behind the counter was kind enough to pick out the flavors for me since I don't eat them myself. I decided to order the Key Lime Coconut Bavarian dessert and the Green Apple Cheesecake! What is dessert without coffee and I told the gal to give me something strong, black and with an extra shot of espresso in it (damage control for the hangover). It will take a few minutes for them to artfully plate your desserts and deliver them to your table if you are dining in! My friend loved the Green Apple Cheesecake and my eyes rolled back in my head when I tasted the Key Lime Coconut Bavarian! I would have bought a few more and transported them home if they would have made it all the way! My other friend ordered the eclair and said it was divine! They also had a nice selection of other items such as chocolates, gelato, cookies, flavored marshmallow bites, etc. The atmosphere was relaxed and many people chatted and laughed at their tables catching up over dessert! It was a bit chilly that morning but, they do have a nice front patio with ample seating if you would like to take advantage of that! I didn't think the pricing was bad considering the quality of item you were purchasing but, you are definitely paying for the upscale location! On the plus side there is a parking lot with ample open spaces (or at least when we were there)! I will definitely be back next time I am on vacation here!

Definitely overpriced as far as the pastries and gelato are concerned but for a little treat every now and again they're fine. The coffee and tea options are decent (as a tea snob I'm glad they use Harney & Sons) and the Yelp check-in offer of a free macaron with coffee purchase is sweet! The last time I was there I got an iced mocha and a blackberry macaron. My partner got a black coffee and some sort of macaron with chocolate and gold leaf on it. Everything was good but not spectacular. Our barista (if you can even call her that, since this isn't exactly a coffee shop, per se) shook my iced mocha in front of me to mix it, which I've never seen anyone do before. Not sure if I should be weirded out by the presentation or stoked about it. The interior is some sort of pastel wet dream, with shades of mint green and pink all over the place and funky light installations dangling from the ceiling. They're definitely trying to be hip. I guess it works? There are also plenty of already-boxed sweets options if you're looking for something quick to pick up and go. In short: they're good for the occasional pick-me-up or treat, maybe even a fancy birthday dessert, but not someplace I'd frequent with any regularity. The bakery department in the Whole Foods right across the street has comparable, if not better, pastries/cakes with price tags that won't give you a heart attack.

Finally I get to try Sucré after waiting for about 3 years.... It's very pretty inside..looks like a sweetaholics dream!! I was so excited when I smelled and gazed upon all of the deliciousness behind the glass display! It was so much and I was so excited I didn't know what to order. I decided on a variety of 6 macaroons. Was a bit under the weather so I really didn't watch the guy put my sweets in my little box. And It felt like he was annoyed by me taking my time trying to pick out a few flavors....it was like 30 minutes before closing so maybe he was ready to get out of there, still no reason for him to act in such a manner though. Anyway I wanted to try a few more things but it's pretty expensive in there, and like I said I wasn't feeling too well and seemed like they wanted us to leave. Went back to our Room and opened my little box and the guy didn't put my dark chocolate macaroon in there! So I only ate one which was the regular chocolate and I took a bite off of the rest and threw them away. Seems like I'm not really a macaroon lover. I might go back and try something else but I already know it's not on my favorites list and it's a bit pricey.

We were a bit sad because the gilato machine was broken. However, that forced us to try something else. We ended up trying a wide variety of desserts that were all excellent. The frappachino was my favorite.

Fun fact - As of 12/27/2014 if you check in and order a coffee you get a free macaroon! Not sure how long this lasts but if you are stopping in you might as well check in with your Yelp App!! The staff is always very friendly at this location. I've only gotten cupcakes and macaroons from Sucre but both are a (pricey) delicious treat! I like getting the box of 15 macaroons as a gift. Fifteen macaroons are about $30 and you can usually select from a mixed box (one of each flavor) or a seasonal box - at Christmastime I got a box of 15 peppermint and chocolate. The macaroons come already wrapped in a box and chilled so make sure to store in your fridge - but they are so yummy that you will gobble them up before you can even put them back in the fridge! The king cake is another thing to think about - it is very overpriced for it size - $20 for a teeny king cake with some glitter on it. I would say to try this king cake once in your life, but do not purchase it to bring it to a party. Most people in New Orleans eat their king cake based on the width of the color, and if you go by that philosophy, only four people can enjoy this teeny tiny king cake!

I had previously only been to the original Sucre on Magazine and recently found myself in the area of the Metry location and decided to stop in and check it out for comparisons sake. It definitely seemed to have more of a suburban feel to it than the Magazine location. It seems much larger on the inside but at the same time less posh. Overall I'm still loyal to my hood's Magazine location and prefer it but I can tolerate being forced to go to this one in a pinch as the desserts are all just as good as the originals while the service was definitely less professional/mature I would observe.

Words can't describe. I /have/ to come here whenever I go to Mall nearby. Service is the best, they let you sample if you're unsure. Delicious!!!

This place was delicious! My friend and I walked by and even with full stomachs, we had to try it! The spot just caught our eye, huge open space and great lighting. We tried the macaroons, not the best Ive had but tasty nonetheless. We also shared an "Everything about NOLA" sundae recommended by the worker. It was great! As an out of towner looking for something with local flavors - it hit the spot! The whip cream was SOO GOOD! But it had banana fosters ice cream and pecans. However, we weren't again of the caramel on the bottom, too hard to eat.

Gelato flavors were really good. The coffee was not. The macaron was interesting but good. All in all Id give 3.5 stars. Ripple fudge is a great flavor. Nice up scale kind of place. Definitely wasn't my first choice but that one wasn't open so had to settle and not a bad second option.

Sicilian Pistachio and Rose Petal Chocolate Bar? Yes, please, I don't mind of I do. Milk chocolate with pistachios and candied rose petals that is sooooo gorgeous to look at, I almost felt bad taking a bite. So creamy and delicious with the perfect balance of sweet and salty. You must try this chocolate bar at least once. I adore the interior of Sucre. All dressed up in pretty pastels, she's just so nice to look at. This is a girly girl's heaven. I was so happy spending some time in there and wish I could just move right in. It's pricy, but would make a special date night place.

Great place with lots of out of the box treats to try. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Love that they have some tart treats as well as the super sweet ones. The atmosphere is okay. The place is kinda small and we had to go hunt down a chair so my fiancé and I could sit together. Over all a nice date experience for us.

Let me start off by saying that Im not a big "dessert" person but I came to buy the king cake during Mardi Gras. (as gifts) It was good so good that I came back and bought another one. But this place is expensive. Very. You're paying for the location and storefront. I don't mind, but I wouldn't come here regularly but it is nice. Only reason I went in was to try the king cake which was presumably the "best". I think that they might be close. Here's what's happening; "New Orleans style" or "Mardi Gras" king cake is originally sweet French bread. Most other places are making cinnamon rolls, cheese cake, even donuts to the refer to as King Cake bc other the ornate green, purple and gold. Sucré does use the right recipe. Only problem... The price and the size. Too much for too little. You pay $20 for a round cake that you can cut samples to maybe 5-6 people. Something to reconsider for next year.

It's taste so good they have a poor boy ice cream I love it .They also sale cookies and king cake everything on the menu is a must try .The servers are decent some are friendly and some are not .it's located right outside of the mall.

This place is fabulous for ice cream. I stopped by twice and I love the ice cream I have a hard time deciding what to get. Thankfully they will let you sample so you can choose. An excellent place for an evening threat.

Just like the Sucre in Uptown, they have all the same delicious desserts, gelato and chocolates. The upside: parking lot. The downside: You have to fight other drivers who like to haphazardly stop in the parking lot. And it can get crowded, so you don't have some where to sit.

**review for macarons only** My husband's cousin was adamant I try Sucre when I told her I love macarons. We stopped by on the weekend to pick up dessert for the family. 23 macarons and about $60 later, we crack open the quaint little boxes to take in the beauty that is to be put into our gullets. I wish I had remembered to write down all the flavors. I know I got salted caramel, pistachio, banana's foster, chocolate covered, chocolate.....Yes, there are a few other flavors that I have forgotten and I'm sorry for the memory lapse altogether. My preferred way of eating macarons is when they're at room temperature. Any other way, they're not as soft and I don't think you taste the flavors as well. These little confections were soft, airy, a tad chewy, but pretty darn good. For some, they may be a bit on the sweeter side, but coffee is the perfect equalizer, or milk if that's your bag. Out of all the flavors I bought, I remembered how disappointed I was in the banana's foster macaron. It had this artificial banana taste. Maybe I got a bad one, maybe my sights were too high for this one. I had really looked forward to biting into this little treat and that macaron would have been beaten out by some vanilla pudding and nilla wafer. If I'm ever back in Metairie, I'll give Sucre another try, but right now, Whole Foods has some of your macarons beat.

  • Eugenie J.

My kid and I adore this place! Yes, it's pricey but the amount of detail and work that goes into each of their confections is well worth it. Specialty coffee menu is excellent and unique. I'm usually in almost every day during Mardi Gras for the parade-themed lattes. Muses is my fave! The Gelatos are rich, the macaroons melt in your mouth, and the cupcakes are fluffy and filling. If you decide to take your snack there instead of to go it is served up on a decorated place and your coffee/tea is given to you in a real mug. The environment is clean, the staff is always friendly and helpful. To date the only bad experience I have had here had to do with another customer. I didn't quite understand how someone could be so bitter surrounded by all that sugar!

Sucré has stepped up their game. I cannot say enough great things about this place and each of it's locations. They not only have wonderful chocolates and pastries, but their staff is always kind, full of wonderful suggestions, and they always bend over backwards to accommodate the needs of my employees and coworkers. Their attention to detail and keen sense of anticipation really set them apart from everyone else. Kudos to Kate, Joel, Tariq, and everyone else at Lakeside and Magazine that make Sucré such a wonderful destination!

    (5)
  • Robert B.

Try as I might, I just cannot get excited about Sucre. It's not that the pastries and ice cream and candy are no good. In fact, they're all quite excellent. I just don't think what they offer is worth what it costs. Maybe I'm not sophisticated enough to appreciate what is being offered here. But I'm perfectly happy eating Baskin-Robbins ice cream and See's chocolates. It seems to be more of a see and be seen type of place. It's totally cool, I know, to hang out at the Magazine Street location. You don't see much of that at the Lakeside shopping center location for obvious reasons. In any event, I do not discourage people from coming here. If it's what you like, then by all means there's no reason not to come. It's just not my bag I guess.

I was looking forward to Sucre ever since I saw their website. When walking in, their dessert case is absolutely gorgeous. Everything looked so beautiful. Unfortunately the attitude of the employees at Sucre ruined the entire experience. I'm not sure if it was because my friend and I were dressed in Saints T-shirts and jeans (as were were going to see them play at a charity softball game nearby) but we were treated with arrogance and downright derision. Like we weren't worthy to eat there. When my friend asked if they had water, the guy that waited on us pointed to the free water -- didn't say anything, just pointed. She wanted to PAY for a bottle of water to take with her. It's really sad that they ruin their beautiful desserts with poor attitudes. The smore dessert was great though. Very tasty.

  • Amanda M.

I love sucre! Yes it's a bit overpriced. Especially the tiny pieces of chocolate and the macaroons at $2 a piece! But everything here not only looks good, it also tastes good. The gelato is divine! They have some pretty interesting sundaes and coffee drinks. It's a nice place to stop after dinner to get a little sweet treat!

    (4)
  • Denise J.

Sucre is sublime. Most of the handmade confections are serious contenders for chocolate lovers. The tea selection is beyond the normal coffee shop, and served nicely. Some of the gelatos are perfect, like cookies and cream, take a taste test for yourself if you seek the best. Finely executed pastries will not disappoint, as they appear as works of art on a decorated plate. Cupcakes are tasty, but most of the fancier selections are a better choice. The macarons, the real star, are almost as good as in Paris! Many flavors are well made, with the right balance of flavor to the fine soft texture with a bit of crunch at the edges, some are outlandishly colored, like the new summer peach and dusted in gold flecks. A little glimmer goes a long way towards a girl's bliss. The atmosphere, the packaging, the art displayed on the walls and in their cases and their famous holiday windows show great attention to detail in every thing they do.

If you like your cakes to taste of pure, unadulterated sugar, only somehow even sweeter, then Sucre is your place. I finally figured this out after buying several cakes here. They are just sugar bombs. I guess I should expect as much from a place called "Sucre." The cakes are priced around $35 for a cake that serves 6-8 and they are beautiful concoctions, but they disappoint every time with their one-dimensional burn-your-throat sweetness. I noticed that another reviewer mentioned condescending service and I do recall having an experience here with one of the male employees who acted very put out by having to do his job. I asked for a coffee to be poured half regular and half decaf since it was late in the afternoon and I didn't want to have trouble sleeping. He looked at me like "Are you freakin kidding me" and acted VERY inconvenienced by this request. He then proceeded to condescendingly inform me that a coffee at 4:30 pm would not keep me up. Thank you sir, for enlightening me to the inner works of my body! I have drunk coffee every day for 20 years but I'm sure you know best! Whatever. I just thought I would throw that out there. Maybe it was the same bad-attitude employee, or it could be a problem with how the staff are hired and trained to give good customer service. Anyway, I would like to say I'll never need to get a cake from Sucre again, but you know how it is, sometimes you wait until the last minute and you need a really fast pretty cake. They will likely have something that makes a gorgeous presentation. Just know that the "oohs" and "ahs" usually end with the first bite.

If you're looking for cupcakes, I would go to the Kupcake Factory instead. Theirs taste a lot better and they cost half as much.

Love Sucre! My favorite gelato flavor is Charlie Brownie. Their sundaes are a little pricey but worth it! They're topped with Macarons which are delicious. I haven't tried any other pastries or their coffee but I've never been disappointed with any of the gelato flavors I've had

  • Cathleya F.

The main reason I go to Sucré is for their delicious macarons! The pistachio and salted caramel macarons are my favorite. They are absolutely delightful. I have yet to try their drinks or cupcakes, but next time I will! I don't really care for gelato, or their little desserts in the window, but I do like their confetti gelato. Not sure if that's what it was called, but it's good! But please try their macarons! Very yummy! And all the workers are always nice and super helpful! They let my picky boyfriend sample almost ALL their gelato flavors and they didn't mind at all. MACARONS = YUM!!!!!

I really wish we could give partial stars, because it's closer to 3.5. We took 6 cupcakes home, a box of 8 macaroons and we dined in with gelato. Gelato- pistachio, banana fudge, peanut butter crunch, Charlie brownie. All were good, texture wasn't as smooth as I'm use to for gelato. There were some ice crystals affecting the texture. Cupcakes- haven't ate them all yet...salted caramel, light caramel taste, not enough salt. They need more contrast salty sweet and caramel. I make my own from scratch including the caramel and it's really hard to find a cupcake that stands up. We also tried the strawberry, I wanted more strawberry. The filling is good, the frosting is light and full of butter, but there's a lot of cake and the frosting doesn't have enough flavor. We have 3 more to try. Macaroons- we bought an assortment and the couple we've had were wonderful. Ask for samples, they have broken ones they will let you try. Well worth going back for the macaroons. This was a cute shop, they have so many things to choose. It's on the upper end of pricing, but they have a quality product.

A little pricey, but what a treat. Macaroons rule here. The coconut and basil sorbet is awesome!

I've heard so much about this place and the almost glittery king cakes. When Jen and Vicky invited me out to dinner and it was decided to go for desert after I was more then willing to give this place a try. Okay let's get the bad out of the way first. It's in one of the strips of shops that act as satellites to Lakeside Mall. So parking can get dicey. And by "dicey" I mean "people are fucking stupid sometimes." That's really not Sucre's fault, and they do have parking so come with some patience especially in the evenings. Since it was cold that night everyone was inside and there was a bit of a wait for chairs. There were plenty of empty tables from larger parties grabbing chairs, so while we had a place to put things while waiting for a table to open, we were still waiting for a table to open. Other than maybe setting up a couple tables better for bigger groups I'm not sure how they could remedy this, but once again, bring your patience. So to the king cakes and hot chocolate. Anyone who's read my ramblings knows I'm kind of picky and I go for the normal over the fancy. So it's no surprise when I type this. I like good old fashioned traditional king cake. Not really a fan of cream cheese fillings. So I was a little dismayed to learn that their king cakes are cream cheese. But OMG it was really good and it was more part of the recipe instead of a ribbon of goop. Not dry at all. I was a little surprised at all the options for the hot chocolate. I ended up going the dark chocolate route with whipped cream. The bitterness of the dark chocolate was nicely balanced out by the whipped cream and was a great non-caffeine option for a late in the evening desert. I can see myself visiting soon with someone who likes her desserts.

The macaroons are delish, and so is the sorbet. I adore the interior, but who doesn't? I know this is a weird comment, but the inside trash cans were disappointing. Everything else was just so freaking cute, but the trashcans stood out as too bluh. I mean that as a strange sort of compliment; everything is so adorable, down to the smallest detail, and I noticed that the only thing that wasn't cute was the trashcans. Everything I tasted was delicious, and everything else looks delicious. The only thing I'm not interested in trying is the (gasp!) cupcakes. I love cupcakes, but the icing looked very unappetizing. I'm sure they still taste good, though.

Ah my beautiful sweetened store! I really like the gelatos: triple chocolate, mint. I love their vanilla/almond cupcake! The one chocolate éclair is ok, I like the almond macaroons! And my all time favorite is the crimson-berry tea; it's unsweetened which is the crazy part because I don't like unsweetened teas but that one is so good! The staff is really friendly and helpful!

  • Jen L.

As bright & shiny as the original on Magazine, but y'know in a strip mall. The staff was helpful and knew their product. And the desserts were as delicious as ever. I do love the sense of playfulness that Chef Tariq brings to his dishes. Minus 1 star for the disaster that is that corner of the Lakeside parking lot. Jeez.

This was my first visit to the Lakeside shop, but I was in the area shopping and got in the mood for some king cake. I called and asked if they still had any available before we got our hopes up. It was already around 8:00 p.m. so I was pleasantly surprised that they still had cakes in store. I stopped by a few minutes later and picked up a king cake. I was in and out very quickly but there were several other items that caught my attention. The lakeside location felt a little more laid back and relaxed, which I really enjoy. Plus the king cake was just as good as it was last year!

I've been to both Sucre locations 2-3 times each. Normally I will always choose the sluttty tatted up stripper hip urban version of a place but in this case I prefer her older mini van driving, bland, soccer mom sister. The Lakeside location actually feels less stuffy and more chill than the Magazine store. Who knew something could be better in The 'Burbs?!?! Everything I have had at Sucre has been quite tasty. The gelato has always been great. It's obviously made from great quality products. Last time I went I got the banana gianduja(gianduja is some sort of fancy chocolate....I googled it) and it was delish! The macaroons are always tasty and I have pretty much tried them all. My only real issue and it's not a big one, is it's a little pricey. The Macaroons are 2 bucks each. The thing is smaller than an Oreo and costs as much as an entire box. The chocolates are the size of marbles and about the same price. As my small town, slightly redneck step dad would say "They must be proud of their shit". And that they are and should be. I always say you pay for quality and you don't need as much when it's good stuff. Quality over quantity. I must add the gelato is priced equally to ice cream parlors and is of way better quality The staff is really friendly and extremely attentive. Outdoor seating is available and it's a great place to take the munchkins or your smoking hot girlfriend when you forget to buy her a Valentine's Day gift.

I been to the Sucre on Magazine plenty of times, but this was the first time at this location. They are not as welcoming as the one on Magazine, but nevertheless, there quality is still there, this time we really came for the king cake, and boy was it delicious!

We almost didn't come because of a couple bad reviews on the service but we were glad that we did. Very welcoming when you first walk in and very patient when I couldn't decide as there is so much to choose from! We both decided on gelato and it was delicious!

If you have a sweet tooth I recommend you try sucre. They have all kinds of sweet concoctions. From the cakes to macarons and even handmade chocolates and gelatos. I've tried the cupcakes and the cake is really moist. But the frosting was not my favorite. I recently got a package of macarons in the mail and I was really surprise on the packaging. The box is really cute and it would be a great gift for friends and family. It's quite pricy but that's because almond flour isn't cheap. And the way they package their sweets isn't either. I recommend the strawberry macaron. It's was super soft and the filling was good. So if your ever in New Orleans give sucre a chance

Beautiful cupcakes, macaroons, chocolates, and king cakes!!!! There's an edible glitter on them that's so cute! I love coming here to pick of cute birthday gifts. My mom was head over heels over the caramel/chocolate cupcakes and dark chocolates I bought for her birthday. I think the macaroons are just to die for - my fave is the chocolate.

Chicory macaroons?!?! Are you kidding me?!? This place has won me over from Godiva. It's like a candy store for kids.....except it lures adults who's pallets are a little more sophisticated with options like french press coffee, drinking chocolate....not hot chocolate....DRINKING CHOCOLATE. Makes perfect sense to me. There's cakes, candy and MACAROONS, OH MY! The bananas foster, salted caramel, hazelnut, CHICORY ones melt.in .your.mouth..... I've been to the Magazine Street location but the Vets location seems to have more to choose from. For all the out-of-towners, if you're making the trek to Lakeside Mall, you must, MUST go here! I read a lot of reviews about the poor service but when I was there, the girl helping me couldn't have been more friendly. There was enough staff to handle the crowd that was there. It was a Saturday night so it was really busy. Now, the Magazine St location had a less than friendly person that "helped" me....but it didn't take away from me enjoying my first macaroon experience.

This is the kind of place you either love or hate. It seemed a bit pretentious for me, with super expensive candy and desserts, but my kids loved it. The gelato was good, with some interesting and tasty flavors. Service was a bit disinterested.

It's about $2 per macaron but it is worth it. I recommend the Cafe Au Lait, Hazelnut, Pecan, and Pistachio. For the richest gelato: I love the Cafe Au Lait and the triple chocolate, mint. All worth the price, parking is hazardous-- park in the garage. Staff knows their stuff so ask them anything and they're extremely helpful. Cutest sweet shoppe I've ever been to. Upscale and clean.

I've been to this location several times but I never recalled much of the experience from my previous visits..probably cause I didn't pay attention and I wasn't much of a yelper, haha. This review will be based from my latest one. LOCATION: Sucre is located by the parking structure by Macy's & PF Chang's. It has its own location meaning, it isn't located inside the mall. Parking could be hard to find since it's around the mall and everyone parks around there. DECOR: The atmosphere is very nice in here. The decor is (light) green walls and white chairs and tables. Outside there are tables & chairs you can sit on too! But not much of a good view since it's the parking lot outside.. The display has a variety of desserts, macaroons, gelato, cakes, etc laid out. Also the glass doors/windows are very clean! hehe. CUSTOMER SERVICE: It's a hit/miss. I noticed that sometimes I get ignored. My latest visit, I was greeted and helped immediately by a nice young gentlemen. DESSERTS [mainly macaroons!]: I haven't tried any of their desserts yet but they do look delicious! I'm a fan of macaroons & I usually come here for them cause this is the only place that sells it in NOLA. area.. (including the Sucre in Magazine St but I haven't been there yet). The Tiffany looks very exquisite! Any who..back to the macaroons! They're a bit pricier than the places I normally go to in SF. The box for the macaroons are very colorful. Tied with a beautiful green ribbon! You can buy 15 macaroons for the price of (~$27 including tax). The assortment they have is 8 macaroon flavors. For 15, you can get one of each flavor with an additional 7! (I will list the flavors below). When you bite into the macaroon, you can taste the flavor of it! I noticed that in these macaroons, there's a small filling inside the filling itself in the middle! It's also very chewy. My favorites are Salted Caramel and Hazelnut. It's quite sweet but I wouldn't say these are my favorite macaroons out of the places I've tried. There's a slip of paper inside the box that says the macaroons are best consumed within 7 days. But aside from the macaroons, they also have a variety of flavors for gelatos! I've bought a pistachio gelato once and it was very sweet.....more than I can handle! But you can definitely taste the flavor in it. Flavors [macaroons]: - Chocolate - Hazelnut - Almond - Pistachio - Bananas Foster - Strawberry - Pecan - Salted Caramel Overall, I only come here as this is the only place (Sucre in general) that sells Macaroons. Pricier than what I normally pay for but whatever floats my boat~ haha. P.S. I gave it 3 stars because i find it A-OK. Deducted stars for hit/miss customer service and not my favorite macaroons. :p

Let me start off by saying that this place is high. DON'T come in this place with 2 dollars and expect to get close to anything lol. While it is high the quality makes it worth it. This is a once in a blue moon type of treat (You Deserve It!) The store is always clean and sometimes they give out free samples. The pistachio macaroon is my favorite and in my opinion the most unique. Strawberry is in a close second place. I got a sea salt caramel cupcake and it was worth all 3 dollars of my friends money...lol. The chocolates are actually my favorite part of the store (big white chocolate fan). The only white chocolate offering they had was wedding cake and best believe I want these to be favors at my next party. So succulent, so rich, so...expensive ~heartbreak~ I don't remember but I believe it's 2$ for just one (worth it ,once again if you're gonna treat yourself, treat yourself!) They give you cute little boxes to keep all of your pretty new desserts in. I'm looking forward to trying a king cake from them next season, I hear they are A+MAZING

Went back this past week. Things were definitely better. A lady that I believe might have been the owner was on site. The macaroons were a little thicker than normal but perfectly baked. The coffee was superb. The customer service was excellent. They even had boxes for the macaroons. We'll give it another shot soon.

NOM NOM NOM! This place is a must-try if you're a dessert lover like I am! The presentation of ALL (and I do mean all) of the desserts are visually stunning! Never one thing out of place. The only downfall of this place is the price; it's a bit pricey for such small desserts. Pastries ($5-$8), macaroons (15 for almost $30), sundaes ($8.50), and you get the idea. What I love about the place? The variety of desserts, the atmosphere and ambiance, the rich flavors exploding out of a small dessert! The list can go on. You can literally walk in here and get whatever dessert you're craving. There's cupcakes, chocolates, gelato, chocolates, coffee & cappuccinos, other desserts, etc.! My personal favorite? The Cerise dessert with a scoop of pistachio gelato. The Cerise is comprised of several layers of cherry, pistachio, and other flavors. The sweetness is just right, and the density of it was just perfect! The best sundae would have to be All Things Nola, which contains bread pudding at the bottom (YUMMMM). Be careful, if you do not like rich flavors, THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU! The chocolate desserts are VERY rich, so if you're not a chocolate lover like me, DON'T GET IT! One last note, this location offers parking unlike the Magazine location, so this Sucre gets my vote over the other :)

The nectar creme gelato is the only thing worth going for. We have tried pastries, king cake, eclairs, cupcakes, and the chocolates and everything is overpriced and unimpressive.

I prefer the location Uptown to the Metairie locale, but the Metairie location is still awesome. The choice of pastries, candies, and gelato is to die for. (The pictures don't do the food justice.) The prices are a little high, but considering it's all handmade, it's understandable. (You're not buying factory made here.) My personal fav is to get a shake made with 2 sorbets and then have them chase the container with raspberry syrup.

This is a painful review for me. I have previously given both sucre locations (magazine and veterans) 5 stars - earned for the quality of their pastries, gelato, service and most of all interior design. The Magazine location lost a star in my book because the gelato flavors don't seem as creative as they used to be (and this is valid for this location too). But here's why the Veterans location is now completely deserving the downgrade to 1 star: On my last visit, with a large group (10 or so) for after birthday dinner desert, I found a piece of broken glass in my pistachio with triple chocolate gelato! I almost broke a tooth biting on it and it broke in 2 pieces in my mouth!!! I was very lucky not to get cut or even worse to swallow it, with possibly really bad consequences. As unacceptable as this may be for a high-end high-priced shop, what made me mad (and will probably stop anyone in my party and the rest of the customers who were present that evening from returning) was the fact that when I brought this to the attention of the Sucre people, they simply took the shard and threw it in the trash. No apologies whatsoever, not even a thank you for bringing it to their attention. WTF??? really??? but what is even worst is the fact that after a few seconds of bewilderment, I asked them what they are planning to do about it, maybe at the very least remove the 2 vats containing the 2 flavors I ordered for inspection or at least to prevent other customers from possibly finding another piece of glass, they said that it won't be necessary... My wife suggested I call or email the owner. I won't waste my time with that since I won't be coming back for a while but I want everyone to be aware of my experience. Hopefully he reads the yelp reviews. And hopefully he will do something about it and let everyone know here that he did. If he wants to actually get to the root of it, start by questioning everyone who worked the evening of October 1st, 2013, 9-10pm. This has to be the most disappointed I have ever been in a business I reviewed... From the very top to the very bottom in an instant... Incredible!!! UPDATE: within 15 minutes of posting this review, I got a message from one of the owners asking me to call him to discuss. We had a very good conversation and he took full responsibility for the issues described above. He also offered to pay for our group if we returned, which I declined but promised him I will return and post a new review if more stars are warranted. During our conversation I brought up the other small issues I had at the Magazine location (burned coffee and broken bathroom) and I was satisfied by the way he addressed these. I am upgrading the stars for this review from one to two, which in my book means "on probation" :)

This is a magical store with many delectable desserts. It's a great place to grab gelato or even look at their wonderful bakery. They also do a lot of catering for weddings and events so go in and check out this beautiful store. The colors and the candies remind me a of a great dessert store in Paris.

This sucre location has gotten really lazy. The employees aren't very friendly, and the quality of food is subpar. I paid $5 for a cup of gelato with severe freezer burn, and the macarons I purchased seemed like they had been sitting in a fridge. They were really cold and the outside had clearly been exposed to humidity--it had no crispness at all. I'm extremely disappointed, considering I could have paid less and been happier with dessert from the grocery store.

Wow, the gelato was great! I wish I'd come here when I was hungrier, because I would've had a lot more of their desserts. Beautiful creations. Seems like a very upscale type of place, and probably a wonderful place to pick up gifts. Pricey stuff though. We got there pretty late, so we didn't see any of the parking issues others had mentioned.

My husband and I love this place! We tried it for the first time last week and we've already had it three times! We are new to the area and the workers are always telling us different places to check out. Everyone who's helped us has been very nice... Especially Tung! We love it! Delicious treats and great service!

My husband and I stopped by to satisfy our sweet tooth and were pleasantly surprised at the place. We tried some gelato, a couple a macaroons and a cupcake. The gelato ($5) was very good, not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst and they had plenty of flavors to choose from. The macaroons ($2) were delish!!! The pistachio macaroon was soo good. We also tried the hazelnut which was very good. The cupcake ($4) was the biggest disappointment. We got the Salted Carmel Chocolate cupcake (which was absolutely beautiful!), and I was expecting a carmel-y and delicious dessert, however it was lacking sweetness and carmel flavor. The chocolate cake part had good flavor and was moist. The staff was attentive but lack a certain element of friendliness. The shop was very clean and even had a few samples out for customers to try.

The service is great. The deserts are fantastic and are always fresh. It's definitely a great concept. The selections are extremely creative and well thought out. I had the Americana Sundae what a treat. My server Christina gave me a excellent description and her presentation made a very good impression on me. Ask for her at the Metairie store

discover Sucre' on magazine have chatted up my friends about it and visited that location several times...LOVE everything about this place....the array of desserts (gelatos, beverages, chocolates, specialty desserts)...I love the whole shabang! AND NOW...by accident I came upon this location!!! Oh wow so excited! ask for Hayden...(tell him you saw his name on Yelp) was so fun and told us all about the various yummies....I'll return!!! maybe sooner than I realize!

A very cutesy dessert chain in NOLA. They offer a variety of cakes, macaroons, gelato, coffees, etc... You purchase it at the register and can sit down anywhere inside or on the patio! We ordered 4 desserts which were about $5/each. Bread Pudding with Pistachio Gelato- Both were delicious; the NOLA natives' favorite Xocolat Sucre- A chocolate lover's dream... rich, dense, and moist... my favorite of the night! Peanut Butter Tart- I was overwhelmed with the peanut butter in this dessert. I would not get this again Strawberry Mousse- Light and airy in a cup... refreshing They offer cups of water as well because of the sugar overload =) Overall, I would come back, especially after dinner or for a date.

Coming from Houston, we dont have a lot of fancy dessert places, so walking in I was definitely impressed! They had a wide range of desserts from cupcakes, macaroons, pastries, gelato, and chocolates! I dont remember the names of the cakes we had, but one was a turtle, one was a chocolate raspberry cake, and one was (I think) called xoholate (a type of chocolate cake/mousse). The flavors were great, but very rich. We didnt finish any of our desserts. Most of them, you could only take a couple of bites. I wish the salty caramel part of the turtle cake was a little saltier. There were so many desserts to choose from, Im a bit disappointed I didnt take some back to Houston. Therefore, I will be back!

My night would not be complete without a salted caramel cupcake from Sucre. It's like an orgasm!!! I have tried to shake this guilty habit, but I just can't. If I am anywhere around Lakeside, I just have to stop!!!!

We got 2 macaroons, (a blackberry lemon and a hazelnut), a Bella Blue (whole blueberries in a blueberry gel suspended by lemon pate- similar to a lemon souffle), & finally a salted caramel iced and filled chocolate cupcake. Holy $h*# !!! Everything was phenomenal. The Staff who helped us was knowledge and super friendly. Sucre is definitely pricey- but if you're into high quality ingredient, hand made confections & gelato this is the place for you.

My wife wanted to visit this place during a trip to New Orleans. I thought it was just another overpriced yuppie candy joint until I started eating some of the treats she bought here. All the candy was very good. Super clean place with great service.

Don't bother with the cupcakes. I picked up a strawberry and all it was, was a dried out vanilla cupcake with a tiny insert of strawberry jam in the center which tasted like the jam you get from Walmart. It was defiantly not worth $4. The reason for the 3 star rating was the chocolate macaroon. It was amazing! It's a little pricy at $2, but at least it wasn't dried out. The gelato here is absolutely amazing!

I walked in here last week to order a cake. I think you gain calories when you walk through the door. It's like stepping into heaven. Cakes and treats and pictures of treats everywhere. Yummy! I was greeted immediately and the guy that helped me order the cake was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The cake was ready when I went to pick it up and it was a beautiful creation. I do kind of think it's overpriced but sometimes you have to overindulge :-)

Three stars because they charge to much and they blaspheme the art of King Cake artistry. Other then that, they do have great gelato. Don't go get the pistachio and compare it to Angelo Bracato but you will enjoy the bold Cafe Au Lait flavor among others. The French press coffee is also good and can hold it's own in an area saturated with coffee shops. Side note: If you don't like gelato, if you think it tastes like egg whites and sugar, don't try to change your mind here. You probably still won't like it because the trendy atmosphere can't change taste buds and you will pay a hefty price to throw something in the trash.

I know my review isn't go to go with the masses but.. ive had better. If yu get caught up in the trendy beautiful atmosphere then this is your place. If you want good desserts head to Brocatos!!! Sucre is absolutely beautiful - the store has a great designer who tricks you into believing you're in a posh dessert emporium in Beverly Hills. The desserts are equally stunning. But the taste is absolutely bland. It's like marrying an OT 10 who has no personality. Great to look at? But there's nothing past that veneer. I have had much better ice cream in the grocery store freezer section but it doesn't sound socially acceptable for the customers of Sucre to say that. that's why they eat Sucre. Even nearby Godiva has better desserts.

TRULY AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. We were waited on at the counter by Callan...callous service ie when I asked about flavors of macaron she was very put out...I ordered and although we were eating there she placed the macaron in a bag...since they offer service and chinaware she was obviously inconvenienced by my request for a saucer !

They mess up my order and wouldn't fix it, which really pissed me off. But the manager did tries to contact me trying to get the problem resolved, I didn't really expected it would happen after I wrote a review on yelp page, but I'm very satistfy with the customer services and I hope that wouldn't happen again. I'll definately will come back and show some supports... thanks...

The macaroons were perfect!! I have forgotten the name of all that I have tried(as far as deserts go), but for what I have this tried already was really good. The espresso latte was not extremely hot it was just right, and was perfect sweet balance. Next I shall be trying the gelato bar...which was looking rather scrumptious!! They are a bit on the pricey side; however, don't let that scare you, the product and service is worth it!

New and popular .... beautiful and trendy ... An upscale fancy dessert shop with good desserts and friendly staff. The desserts are fantastic but not anything I would go out of my way to go get. But if I'm in the area yes I would return to the establishment. I really don't have a negative for Sucre. Maybe I'm just too attached to my favorite Italian place....Angelo Brocato's in Mid City.

I love this location better than the one on Magazine. It's much more spacious. I usually get the butter pecan gelato, which is delicious. This time I decided to try the mocha coffee. It was PERFECT. I couldn't be any more pleased with the taste of their coffee. I also got this cake.. I can't recall what's the name of it. But it's all chocolate and swirled with chocolate mousse. It was rich with dark chocolate. I also tried the assorted macaroons for the first time. I can't believe all these times I went to Sucre and I have never tried it! It's so delicious! I am craving for some as I type this right now. I thought it would be like a crispy cookie, but it's more of a cakey texture. It's perfect. There's so many flavors to choose from: chocolate, almond, strawberry, pistachio, hazelnut, orange. I brought a gift box of 15 for my family. They loved it! I can't forget the workers I've met here. They are so benevolent and friendly! Perfect service.

I stopped in on Friday to purchase a birthday cupcake for my assistant and a box of macaroons to take a client for a brief mid-morning business meeting. Both enjoyed their treat, but the service was lackluster. Service is always slow here, but I don't mind waiting for good service. They ran out of candles, which is no big deal. The cupcake was placed in a clear generic takeout box, so it looks like I brought my assistant a leftover cupcake from a school bake sale. It wasn't even placed in a bag with tissue...for $4, branding, people! It should come in the cute cardboard box with the SUCRE metallically embossed on it! The macaroons were not for me, so when asked which ones I wanted, I simply asked for an assortment, which apparently is the equivalent of a middle finger. At least these were in a signature box and ribbon. Maybe I stopped in on an off day, but if I'm getting cupcakes at a premium, I want premium service.

I like the desserts here, they are okay but not anything a reputable french bakery can't do better. The macarons are overated IMO. Really overpriced and no substance, although they are certainly lovely to look at. It was Mardi Gras season when I visited and the girls were nice enough to give me, my sister and mom a sample of their king cake. It was okay, but nothing special, I still prefer Randazzo's or even Haydel's when it comes to king cakes. As far as french bakeries overall, I still like Hi-Do or Maurice better.

I'm not sure which location I like better... maybe the uptown one because there's less people and I'm an uptown girl. Both locations are great though. It's more spacious here and the staff is very friendly! They love being at work, and why wouldn't they be? They're surrounded by sweetness! It must rub off of everyone there. Guys: pay attention... this is the place to take your girl out for a sweet treat. If you buy her something from here, she will LOVE you. I promise.

Let me start off by saying- I love Sucre on Magazine. I have always left there in a chocolate and/or gelato blissful haze. That being said, every time I have been to this location, I am underwhelmed. Gelato today was freezer burnt and the servers obviously did not want to be there. Very disappointing because I wish I could rate it higher, but the gelato was really bad today.

  • Kristen A.

Went back because I live 2 blocks away and wanted something sweet. We tried the Smores sundae... it was really yummy and the presentation was perdy. Also broke down and got a box of macaroons. The only ones I would recommend were the strawberry and caramel- but even those are still too overpriced and there are places to get better ones nearby.

  • Kelly S.

Really this gets 4.5 stars, with maybe only half a star deducted because it is certainly pricey. Delicious though. I got macaroons, chocolates, and cupcake flavored gelato that everyone LOVED. This is an awesome bakery for sure. I was just a little surprised when the total was $40+ for what I got. But, its probably worth it since everything is so decadent and amazing!

Great place to have dessert and coffee. The servers here are pretty rude though. Don't be surprised if they give you sarcastic looks and questions for not having the menu memorised three seconds after walking up to the counter.

  • Rachel D.

This is the 3rd time I have had horrible service at this location. I love Sucre, I really do, but lately this store straight sucks. The problem is one particular employee: Evan. I went and ordered a peppermint hot chocolate the 1st and the 2nd time and every single time, he happens to make my drink he stares at me like I am an idiot. He is so rude to customers in general. He does a crappy job at his job. Making coffee!! How hard can that be? I went in this location yesterday for a medium peppermint coffee and he laughed when I walked in the door at me. All I know is that this business needs to get their act together and there employees better trained.

BEWARE OF HOURS LISTED! Their summer and winter hours are different and apparently do not change on Yelp or on their website. Hours stated they were open until 11. Apparently they closed at 10. I arrived at 9:50 and the doors were open but all the gelato had been put away already. They were very polite, but it's fairly pointless to have the doors open and not have the product you're selling available! Poor management!

A nice place to sit down and enjoy a wonderfully crafted dessert or a scoop of gelato after spending hours in the mall. I always come around at least once a month for a box of French macaroons. The macaroons are amazing. They've always got a perfectly soft center with a crunchy outer shell. They're constantly coming out with new macaroon flavors throughout the year (sadly it also means they phase out older flavors constantly). The gelato is velvety smooth with great flavor. They also offer smaller desserts like eclairs and mini cakes. One of the places that I think they fail are their cupcakes. They're very dry and have an excessive amount of frosting on top. Stay away from them! The workers are always very helpful and friendly. I've never had an issue with service even when the store is extremely busy inside. Be forewarned, this place is not cheap. You're paying for beautifully designed pastries and you shouldn't be surprised when you see the prices. Everything they offer is fairly small based on the prices you pay for them, but I've never regretted buying a box of macaroons after I've taken that first bite.

Great deserts. Let me clarify. The gelato is superb. The cupcakes marvelous. I have not jumped in to their tempting chocolates yet but rest assured I will. Why four stars? The location has the feel of a frogurt chain. No disappointments when the sweet tooth starts talking or your preggers wife gets the craves.

I dropped by yesterday night to pick up another box of Macarons. I literally go through the box within 2 nights...savoring each bite at a time..limiting myself to only 2 macarons. BUT IT'S SO LIGHT AND FLUFFY AND DELICIOUS!! I can't help but to eat about 6 in one sitting. The new flavors of the month: NOLA macarons are delicious. Banana Foster and Cafe Au Lait nearly made me faint yesterday. LoL Go try the Macarons. I usually pick up a box of the chocolates as well. King Cake season is always great here because of their Kingcakes. Very pretty and yummy. I just love the cream cheese intralace betwee the cinnamon pastry.

OK, I am going to be honest here - the gelato is very good but the desserts are, well, all show and no substance. They all look amazing! Taste wise, well certainly not bad, just not nearly as good as they look. I tried a couple of them - one was a eggnog custard parfait thing and the other was a chocolate cake type of thing - they were good but just not worth the calories. The signature macaroons are really colorful but taste-wise I really didn't care for them. Of course, that is probably just a matter of individual taste as I have heard people rave about them. Full disclosure - Jean Phillip Patisserie in Vegas is, in my opinion, the gold standard for this type establishment. That may have spoiled me a little, and unfortunately that's my source of comparison.

The stars are for the guy thats always so nice when I come! He seems to be the only one who greets EVERYONE. I don't know his name but his service is what keeps me coming back. He usually is the only guy behind the counter. SO if corporate sees this review, please give him a raise he deserves it. Also, please fire the really bitchy chick with the glasses. Even my 9 year old son noticed how her facial expressions just said it all!. Thats got to be saying something. An establishment like this that sells fine desserts and sweets doesn't need an employee like that. I just wanted to add caramel flavor to my cappuccino, no need for the ugly facial expression. Next time, I'll find out names. Thank you....

This is another place I go to quite often. Perfect for morning coffee, pastries, late night dessert or a quick snack!! Their gelato options are always broad and great, the macaroons are delish, and the cupcakes are good also! They also have fine desserts that they pair with a scoop of gelato of your choice!

At this location (one of two; the other is on Magazine in NOLA proper), you can find a great cup of coffee prepared in your choice of methods. For single-cup, there's Aeropress or Slayer drip. You can also have some that's decanted from a press, although unfortunately they decant the sludge as well. Hot tip: you can get two-for-one coffees before 10am. The gelato, and especially the sorbetto, are worth a shot; stick with the pure flavors unless you require a more interesting texture and wholeheartedly believe that Cookies 'n Cream gelato is a good application for your five bucks. The pastries, desserts, and chocolates are a bland, tragic letdown for the most part. I can't put my finger on it, but it seems like almost everything has a similar underlying taste, and that's a really unfortunate branding to have. I bet anyone else who's been there more than twice will know what I mean, even if they haven't thought of it before. I do enjoy the filled cupcakes, although they have become decidedly less playful and imaginative in recent months. What the hell happened to the peanut butter and jelly filled cupcake? It must be a nice place to work, because the staff is always delightfully friendly and courteous, and you don't get that creepy, Heaven's Gate vibe like you will from the forced grins at Pinkberry.

Would go there for the excellent service, if for nothing else. BUT...they just happen to have excellent desserts...Macaroons= amazing. Pistachio gelato= perfect. And that box of Nola inspired chocolates...well, I hope they make it home to the birthday boy without being devoured!

Friends and I went and bought a sampling of desserts and gelato. Very good, very rich.

Sucre has the best authentic French macaroons outside of France. Not the heavy, lumpy coconut things, but the light-as-air pastel-colored confections with flavored filling.

I have to update my review because I was so very furious in my last review I used expletives which are frowned upon in the establishment. I was saying about sucre that they were really proud of there product to think that they could charge two dollars for a macaroon. There was a f word or two and a mf combo. I am not sure why I was so angry about the pretentious ah words that something that should cost no more than 50 cents. I was wondering why the gelato a far more expensive product is so inexpensive. I call Sysco shenanigans. mainly because it was rather bland.

This review is for the service and for the only item I have tried; the cupcakes. It took about 5 to 7 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me upon entering the shop. I finally placed my order for two cupcakes. It took the lady about 5 minutes to package the cakes in cellophane and ribbon. It looked nice, but unfortunately the cupcakes didn't live up to the promise offered by the lovely packaging. The cake was dry and the frosting did nothing to improve the texture nor the taste of the bland cake. I wish they had focused more time on making a good cupcake and less time on the frilly accoutrements.

I stopped by a few weeks back to try it for the first time. I heard a lot about the macarons and decided to try it out myself. Walking in, the atmosphere was nice. Very decorative, friendly people, and what looked like a nice staff. I was NOT pleased with the service I got. The staff was rude and not very helpful. I was disappointed and wanted to leave, but I wanted some macarons. This , I was pleased with. Very pricey, but the quality was excellent. Pretty, appealing colors, great flavors, and they came in cute signature boxes with a ribbon tied to it. I asked for some gelato samples and that came with some more ugly looks. Well hello ? First time here. I don't know what's good and what's not. They should be helping me choose and giving me tips. I can't say I had a bad experience with anything else besides the staff. All my desserts were great. Hopefully I get some smiles instead of stares next time.

I could almost go down a star. But I can't because it's not their fault. The TP (New Orleans newspaper) found them out. Now I'm wondering about dealing with them possibly getting slammed one day right before I get there. Of course their servers did seem efficient, so it may still turn out O.K. They do deserve many stars for being awarded BEST KINGCAKE!!!

The gelato was too icy but the flavor was pretty good. I did not care for their dry, very bland cupcake with extremely sweet frosting. Great location but overpriced for the quality of their "treats."

Magazine is my favorite location, but everything here is still awesome. And this is a nice one to stop at if you're in a hurry because parking is easy.
