Would not eat here again- I was staying at a nearby hotel that had a Siamese menu in the rooms with no prices, so I called in a To Go order. I requested silver noodles, was told is not available for lunch, ordered chow mein instead. I didn't ask price on the phone, figuring, how expensive could it really be? Charged $11.95. When I got back to my room, I looked at the menu that was tucked in my bag and it said chow mein was $9.95. I also noticed on the menu a lunch special for the silver noodles- weird, since she told me that dish was not available for lunch. Then at the end, I did not think the food was very good. The veggies were super saturated in the oily sauce and the tofu was really greasy. I felt like I gained a pound or two after eating it. Did include fork and chopsticks in to-go bag, which I appreciated.

Came here for lunch. I ordered Pad Thai. Service was good. Place looked "OK". I guess for being in Metairie it was OK. Since I ordered off the lunch menu, the portion was skimpy. It came with half an egg roll and coconut soup. Up to this point everything was "OK". The noodles used were not the best quality, and flimsy. The sauce was greasy, heavy and "gritty". It wasn't "awful" but definitely the worst Pad Thai I've ever had. I've been to many Thai restaurants and this one didn't make the cut. I paid $12 plus tip.

Clean, fast and easy. Plenty of parking. Service and food are fresh and excellent. Not over spiced or over sauced.

I live in New York area and this food sucks...Soup was cold. Red curry was so sweet. I hate to send a bad review but I had to make this review as I was so hungry and dis-appointed with the food....Will never go back

I hate taking away stars. But the last time girly and I went there, they managed to mess up Pad Thai...I mean really? I'm not a fan but I always take a patronizing bite of girly's plaste so she can feel free to steal from my plate. That's how we roll...but Even she didn't want her own tofu pad thai. And when we mentioned it, the waitress tried to tell us it was our fault for ordering tofu since it doesn't taste as good as chicken. But the girly always orders the tofu (silly girly) and it never tasted tinny or like fish sauce was dumped on it like mad. I dumped fish sauce and chilis on my dish and she still preferred it to her simply pad thai. :(

Great food! Worth checking out! It's in a sketchy area however the service is great. The decor is ehh but I haven't found something I didn't like on the menu

A really good Thai place. The food is good service has always been a bit slow though when i have gone. It is a bit on the pricey side but portions are large and I always have plenty to take home.

Don't waste your time here! Horrible service and even worse food. They try to pass off horrible Chinese food to people that don't know better. Nothing in there is authentic Thai food. They put carrots in everything. I mean wtf?! Carrots??? In Thai food- like Pad Thai?! Cafe Equator on Severn is much better. Don't waste your time and money. Disgusting! No idea why they're still around.

Yum. This place is nicer inside than it looks. Don't be scared off by the strip mall. Try the soft shell crab curry and the drunken noodles. Delicious! Good lunch specials come with some sort of egg roll thing and soup. Friendly service although not very speedy. Fish tanks for the kids to enjoy and staff is surprisingly patient with children.

Siamese was my first experience with Thai food and after going to a couple of other places in the area I still think it offers delicious food. All their curries are flavorful and they give plenty of sauce, which is the best part! They have good lunch specials for around $7. Their Thai ice coffee is so good. Its sweet, creamy, and strong. The service is always friendly and quick. The only reason my rating is 4/5 is because the shrimp in their dishes are frozen. I really wish they would use fresh, local shrimp.

I hate to give this 2 stars, but this place as gone on a steep decline in the last year. Their menu has improved, but their food has become reminiscent of freezer-case meals. Their appetizers are pretty good, but anything outside of the Pad Thai and Curry....You don't want to venture down that road..,

LOVE their squid salad, and so does my three year old. THAT'S saying a lot about a squid salad. Their War Wonton soup is also another favorite for the family. And I am always satisfied with my Glass Noodles dish. Another thing I LOVE about this place is their nam prik, or fish sauce. Theirs is chuck full of peppers and icy cold. Also, more than once I have admired dinnerware and they've SOLD me pieces just for the asking--and at a great price.

I was killing some time waiting on a flight out of the New Orleans Airport and stumbled upon this little Thai restaurant in the back corner of a strip mall. I gave it a shot and talk about being glad I did. It was only a few people in the dining area so service was quick and attentive. It did, however, take some strong persuading to convince the waitress that i wanted my order HOT HOT. She said no,no, no too hot for you. I assured her I could handle it. She finally relented and placed the order. I had some seafood curry and the coconut soup. The soup came out quickly and was over the top with flavor. Large chunk's of mushroom and shrimp in a velvety coconut milk broth. The curry was absolute fire. Delicious with huge shrimp, scallops, crab claws and octopus cooked just the correct amount of time. I recommend this place to any adventurous diner looking for quality food.

The best Thai food in New Orleans! My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for years and they never disappoint. Can't believe I haven't written a review yet. Our favorites include the Mee Krob, Hot & Spicy Soup, Duck Curry, Pad Thai, and Thai Tea. We pretty much order the same thing each time. All the flavors are right on par. If you pay with cash you get 10% discount.

New Orleans doesn't have a whole lot to offer for thai food. I've eaten at about 6 or 7 thai places in the area and this one is my favorite. Very flavorful and spicy.

OHHH MAN, THE SQUID SALAD! So yummy, slightly spicy and sweet...coupled with the tang of the vinegarette in the salad.....ORGASMIC. Yummy satay beef sticks come on a metal plate, FLAMING hot, literally! I had the curry, it was good...pad thai was okay as well. Decor is clean and dark! Lots of posters and items from Thailand. so you know it's authentic. Menu has a lot of variety with great vegetarian options as well. Lots of description as well as pictures. It's weird knowing that you're eating in a strip mall...but even better, great parking!!!!

Thai food's hard to come by in NOLA but I make the drive to Kenner over eating anything less than Siamese. Chefs have changed over the years but food is typically solid and staff is really nice. Worth the trek for sure.

I have thoroughly enjoyed eating here. I've been here for lunch and dinner and have been pleased with the food and the service each time. I have only tried the pa nang because every time I go I'm craving it because it's soooooo good. They have a great menu with loads of choices, though, and I'm planning on returning soon to try some other menu items.

Disclaimer: I lived in Chicago for the past three years where a Thai restaurant can be found on every block so I have high expectations for a fresh dish chock full of vegetables with a lot of heat. Unfortunately, Siamese didn't meet up to my expectations. The Tom Yum soup, aka hot and spicy shrimp soup on the menu, wasn't very flavorful. The lemongrass flavor was not accompanied by much of a chicken broth and the shrimp were a bit overcooked. I have to admit the soup grew on me as I ate it thought. The portion size was ideal. I ordered my entree spicy and had to scoop on the chili sauce to make the spice factor meet my preference. The vegetables were not abundant and there were only two baby corns in the bunch. So sad... Good tip: 10% off your bill if you pay cash instead of with a card.

Casting my vote on the "Never Again" side of the fence. 2 stars for good service, and a clean restaurant. I ordered the Thai Tea - always do in Thai restaurants, I LOVE the stuff. This tasted weird, so I asked what they used for the milk...Nondairy Cream was the answer. Not Coconut Milk, nor real cream, but the fake crap. Yuck #1 I then ordered the Papaya Salad...again, had many times in many places, and didn't know it could be absolutely awful. It's a pretty simple dish. This was so spicy it made my stomach hurt, and I really enjoy spicy food. Big Chunks of onion skin that was totally inedible, mealy tomato slices...and so many peanuts that it started to feel like eating wet peanut salad. Strange and nasty. Yuck #2 So, I decided to try and salvage an awful meal by throwing another $13 at it and ordered my typically favorite curry dish. Meh. Mostly tasteless, big chunks of what I Think was plantains, but cannot be sure. It was Really Sweet. All in all, a pretty wretched experience - and I had such high hopes for a place with such great reviews. 3 strikes in one meal. My suggestion: head into New Orleans on Royal, and eat at Suko Thai. SO much better, fresh, and fun.

My daughter loved the Garlic Pepper beef but for me it was hoison-sauce overload. It had me wondering, where is the garlic, where's the peps? The chicken satay was good and I like how our server lit it up in flames. I would go again for lunch and try something else because the lady was so sweet and nice.

A pleasant surprise to find a pleasant and healthy place to eat on a far edge of Metaire, amidst big box retail and car dealerships! Good selection of veggie and seafood plates, the best iced tea I've had anywhere. Service is attentive, but unobtrusive. The atmosphere is on the relaxed end of strip mall restaurants. Not overdone with thematic Asian decor, with a relaxing vibe. It's location is tucked away, and takes some skill to spot, but worth the trouble. I only noticed it because I walked he reforms seminar at the hotel next door. Plan to return. Siamese offers a range of heat, and medium was attention-getting. Any hotter would burn me up. Interesting coconut-based soup. Everything was well-prepared, and the typically light, flavorful Thai preparation. If you find yourself in this part of town, it beats the other, heavier, typically chain choices in the area.

The service is always excellent. The food is authentic and smells incredible. It is easily accessible off the I-10. The place has a nice crowd but is never overly crowded. The portion sizes are just right and the menu has a lot of variations. It has enough variations to appeal to the pickiest eaters and the least adventurous eaters. It also appeals to Thai food lovers.

This is my go to place when I want Thai food. The atmosphere is rather relaxed and the wait staff is friendly. The food is really good, although I always order the same thing when I go (Panang Shrimp).

I will keep this short and sweet. Siamese is the best Thai restaurant in the New Orleans metro area. I will get in my car and drive the out to the hinterlands of the Metairie/Kenner border when I am craving Thai because it is THAT good. I have ordered almost everything on the menu, and everything is delicious. I have taken family, good friends, coworkers, lovers and random acquaintances to Siamese and everyone has loved their meals. Even my father, who dislikes Thai food, got the Chicken on Fire (basically Thai BBQ chicken) and said it was especially tasty. None of the generic "red, yellow, or green!" watered down curries here. They have sooo many curry options, and will make them so hot (if you wish) it feels as if your face is melting off. Yum! An extra order of sticky rice, please, and I'm in heaven. Also the lunch special is LEGIT. A nicely sized bowl of curry (or stir fry/pad Thai/etc), rice, soup, and an egg roll, and I'm out the door for under 10 dollars. Sweet!

I'm siding with those who have given this place an overall negative review. Last time I ate there I ordered the karee pup. They were obviously burnt but they served them anyway. The entrees were fine but nothing special considering the high prices. Just an okay thai restaurant.

This review will be painful to post. The stars are for service and cleanliness only. The waiter was so nice. He never missed a beat. I feel so bad saying this.... The food-no one at the table liked it. wr all had different dishes and we all four thought that the frozen and boxed Thai food was better. That said the ginger tea was good. The waiter asked a couple times why we didnt eat the food, we said we were full. A for service, F for food.

BEST AND MOST AUTHENTIC THAI RESTAURANT IN NOLA HANDS DOWN! This was the first Thai restaurant I've ever tried, and any other place I've tried down here really cannot compare! My boyfriend took me here for the first time years ago and I've been hooked on Thai food since! This place has THE BESTT PINEAPPLE FRIED I'VE EVER TRIED! Trust me, you won't regret it if you try it. We don't get to come here too often, because it's pretty far from the westbank where we live, but we try our best! Here's what we ALWAYS get: Appetizer- Kung Ka Borg. It's shrimp wrapped in fried wontons with a spicy chili glaze to dip. LOVE IT! Salad: Larb pork- It's ground pork with onion in a spicy lime dressing. This has to be the best larb I've ever tried. Entrees: Pad Thai with chicken, Drunken Noodles with Beef, and of course the Pineapple Fried Rice! All yummy but the pineapple rice is THE best! Dessert: Sticky rice and mango of course! Always refreshing, sweet, and DELICIOUS! The service isn't the greatest I must say. They're very nice, but they can be a bit slow sometimes. The restaurant is decorated with Thailand paintings and decor. The workers also wear traditional outfits. That really shows that this place is truly authentic!

I've had this place on my list of restaurants to try for awhile now, and I finally got around to it. I am a huge lover of Thai food, and I always look forward to trying new places. Unfortunately this place just didn't make the cut. I'm pretty lenient when it comes to restaurants, so I'm surprised I didn't find anything remotely decent here. First: service was terrible. I only saw one girl working when I came for lunch on a Friday. She was running around taking everyone's orders, making drinks, and running food. I felt bad for her because it seemed like she was way in over her head. We chalked it up as an unfortunate circumstance. Second: prices are way over the top. I didn't realize how expensive it was until I came here (yes I did look at the menu, but I guess I was too hungry to see the prices lol). I don't mind paying a lot for food, as long as its worth it in portion size and flavors. Siamese didn't do well for this either. Third: food was nothing special. We ordered the Golden Wings as appetizers. For entrees, we ordered dinner portions of Pad Kee Maow with shrimp and "Mus Mun" curry with chicken. The chicken wings were good, but it was nothing amazing. It was $11 for two small wings. Really? The pad kee maow was spicier than my cousin thought it would be, and that's all it had. The spice was so overpowering that we couldn't gauge any other sort of flavors from the dish. The dish was also on a little square plate so the portion size was not proportional to the price at all. We thought the girl may have mistaken it for the lunch portion at first, but she didn't. The Mus Mun curry was alright. I don't know why they call it that either. Every other Thai place I've been to calls it "Massaman" curry, and that doesn't seem like a hard name to say either. My cousin ordered Thai tea, and I got hot green tea. The Thai tea was okay. It tasted good, but I could tell they didn't filter the powder too well because there was a nice level of it resting at the bottom of the cup. Unfortunately, this place lacked significantly in all three major areas of dining for me - price, service, and food.

This place is awesome! Seriously, I go here almost once a week. Everything I have had from here has been wonderful and delicious. The waiter and owner are the nicest people ever and are always happy! It's truly a joy to go here for lunch, and you can also get pretty much anything on the menu veganized if needed :) I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes Thai or spicy food or just want to try something different. Ahh, just writing this review makes me want to go there again : ) Also~ they have a sweet and sour dish, if you are familiar with the Chinese dish "sweet and sour," don't expect the same thing, it is COMPLETELY different, but very, very good :) Just FYI

Met a friend here today for lunch. When I entered the restaurant it smelled like mothballs. There was only one other table occupied (but it was Saturday afternoon), and a pretty pathetic strip mall. (I'm trying to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt based on location.) I had eggplant and shrimp which was just OK. No reason to return based on mothball smell and mediocre food.

I've been here a few times, the establishment is authentic, and service is normally good, until the previous visit.. The food also use to be extremely good and satisfying, but this time.. its different. We had the following items: - Kung Ka Borg - Deep fried shrimps wrapped wide wonton skin served with spicy garlic sauce. These were fried to the perfect crisp, and goes well with the garlic sauce, delicious. - Larb - Ground pork or beef or chicken with, onion and rice powder in spicy lime dressing. We eat this work beef, and it is delicious, sometimes it can be quite spicy, so if you can't handle the heat, tell them to take it down a notch. - Pad Kee Mow - Pan fried flat noodles with chili sauce, onions, bell pepper and basil leaves. Delicious pan fried flat noodles with your choice of meat, also can request level of heat. - Pad Thai - Pan fried long noodles, egg, ground peanut and bean sprouts. This time we went, the noodles were over cooked, and chewy. Normally, these would be good and perfect, not time not, unfortunately. - Pa Nang - Roasted curry, bell pepper, kaffir lime leaves, basil leaves and coconut milk. Normally, the pa nang is good, really good actually. This time, it doesn't even look like pa nang.. the owner claims to change the product, but have the same recipe.. yet it looks and taste nothing like pa nang. We also left the dish, barely touched, because we were unsatisfied.. yet the owners did not care, and still charged us on the bill.. I might visit this place again to give it one last chance, if the results are the same as the last, I will call it quits.

Best Thai ever! Kang Ped is so delicious. It is a red curry. Choose beef, chicken, shrimp, or vegetarian. Silver noodle soup is healing and yummy. Try it you'll like it. It is located in the back of a strip mall. The fish tank adds nice ambiance. Good service.

I haven't been out to Siamese in years but as we were out this way on Sunday night, I thought it might be worth a stop. I wonder if there are different owners to this restaurant from the last time I went (which may have been years ago). The menu seemed really different. We ordered the eggrolls which were really cabbage-y and not my favorite. I had a noodle dish with veggies & tofu and E had a red curry dish. Both were fine although his needed more heat. The lack of heat is our fault since we ordered medium. Since hot at some of the closer Thai places burns a hole in my stomach I've gotten wary. Really it was OK. But we won't be driving out of our way to go here.

Great Thai in unexpected location (metairie strip mall). We had yellow curry and glass noodles and both were great. Asked for spicy and was right on the money. Also were sensitive to us being vegetarians which was a bonus.

  • Susan M.

Our lunch was delicious! We are vegetarian and since the soup had meat they gave us extra egg rolls. We had the flat noodles and yellow curry (made spicy -- our choice, can be mild if you want). The staff was courteous, attentive but not in that annoying way where they interrupt your conversation or you're mid bite. The food was amazing. This is the best Thai I've had in New Orleans! We will be coming back!

When the boyfriend and I lived in Metairie, we ate at Siamese quite often for dinner, and got take out once in a while. Since moving to the Westbank, I had not revisited Siamese. I decided to give it a try again for lunch one day at work. They have the menu online, and I was surprised to see lunch combos, similar to those you may find at a chinese takeout restaurant... except, you know, Thai food. These are low priced, smaller portions that come with half of an egg roll and a cup of soup. Not a bad idea. However, while I LOVED my curry, I wasn't a fan of the soup. I'm not even sure what it was. It was some cream-based (coconut milk??) soup with a couple of pieces of chicken, lemongrass and/or lime leaves, and some other stuff. Something about the taste just seemed off. Since I didn't like the soup, I could have just spent $1 more for a full-sized curry dish and had leftovers for the next day. But oh well, that's a personal thing - I'm sure others love the soup! It's reasonably priced and the takeout orders are always made promptly. Sometimes during sit-down meals, the service can be a little slow, but that just depends on what time of day you visit. The service is always friendly.

Two stars is probably a little low but there are better Thai restaurant in town namely Equator, Singha, and the mother of all Thai restaurants, La Thai on Prytania. I have only been here once and had the eggplant with chicken. It certainly wasn't bad just didn't wow me. My dining companion, whose culinary crit I respect, had pad thai which looked weird and got a "eh!" review from her. Good prices though and fast so not a bad place for a quick Thai lunch if you are in the area.

So I'm in New Orleans, the epicenter of great food and fine dining and I pass by this place on my way to the hotel. I really like Thai cuisine and I made a mental note to stop back and try it during my week in the area. A day later, I dropped in for lunch and ordered one of their signature lunch specials and a drink. The place was about half full of other patrons and I was anxiously awaiting a great meal. My soup, appetizer and entree were delivered promptly. The first red flag popped up when I tasted my soup. One of the hallmarks of great Thai cuisine is great fresh and flavorful broths and soups, This was none of that. Oh well, on to the appetizer and it was strike two. Surely the entree will make up for the shortfalls of the prior two dishes, right? Not so much. The "pork" in my Pad Kee Mow could just as well have been plain tofu. In short, the dish was beyond bland. In fact, the entire meal was flavorless and tasteless and I was unable to finish it. The front of the menu proudly proclaims "Absolutely no MSG, Artificial Color and Gluten." I would include the words Flavor and Seasoning to that list. As Gordon Ramsey may have put it, my lunch here was "bloody awful." Now, I am open to the possibility that I just stopped by here on a really, really bad day for the kitchen staff but I don't think so. Bon Apetité "life's too short for bland food, bad wine, weak coffee or cheap whiskey" RS

The boyfriend and I went to Siamese tonight after not having been in over a year. Fortunately, little seems to have changed. It's not the best Thai food I've had, but it's still quite good. The service tends to be on the slow side, and they seem to do most of their business at lunch time. For an appetizer, we got the beef satay, which is lit on fire before being served. The peanut sauce is amazing--I would pour it over rice and eat it by itself. For my entree, I tried something new and got Kai koow, which is squid and chicken, flat noodles, egg, and peanuts. Bean sprouts added a nice crunch to the dish. The peanuts reminded me of pad thai, but the sauce is different. I'm also a fan of their Mus-mun curry, which is a mild brown curry served with potatoes and onions. Their other curries are very good as well. And on to my favorite part of any meal, which is dessert. We got mango with sticky rice. I love these two things separately, and I adore them together. They only serve this when mango is in season.

  • Dennis G.

I used to dine at Siamese maybe twice a month but hadn't been in over a year. While the food is still as good, the service is still as slow and the portions seem to be smaller than I remember. Even with smaller portions it's still quite filling. We had the beef satay appetizer, which is served ON FIRE. Even without that novelty the satay is incredibly tasty and served with amazingly delicious peanut sauce. My entrée consisted of the squid salad, which is squid rings and red onions in a cilantro and curry dressing. It's very tasty but this serving was a big heavy on the red onions which overpowered the other flavors if I got too many in a bite. Lastly the desert, the star of the meal: mango and sticky rice. If you get nothing else from Siamese you should try the mango and sticky rice, especially when the mangoes are in season and super fresh. Overall four stars for the amazing flavors and food. I'm hesitant to give it less because of how good it is, even with the slow service.

Will never eat there again. The Tom Kua was watered down limey broth with little coconut flavor. What's with all the baby corn. YUCK...same with the main dish. Little flavor with more baby corn. Ginger tea was very good. No fresh or basil rolls!

My wife and I dropped in this past Sunday and we were plesently surprised by the freshness and the quality of the food. I ordered the Pad Kee Maow (Drunken Noodles) with Chicken off the lunch menu and I asked for it spicy. Yes it was hot and yes it caused me to perspire some but it was enjoyable. The lunch came with a soup and an egg roll, all for under $10, a bargain. The location is nothing to write home about but you can say that about plenty of great eats in New Orleans. The fact that they had a lunch special available on a Sunday is a big plus.

This was my first time trying Thai food and I've discovered it's just not my taste. I don't know if the food wasn't up to par, or if it's just because I don't enjoy how the flavors meld together. Friends said that it was OKAY. They were happy that it's cheaper than Cafe Equator haha.

My husband and I love Thai food and we go to at least one Thai restaurant in every place we vacation (this is quite frequent). Siamese had the absolute worst service I have ever experience. I have an allergy to eggs and dairy, but I am never rude or difficult about this. I asked our waitress, who was also the host, if I could substitute my egg roll for a simple side salad (priced at 1.75 - cheaper than the cost of an egg roll) - her response was "WHY?" very rudely, to which I responded, "because I am allergic to eggs." She laughed & said, "No, we no substitute, you want me no bring? You still pay." She begrudgingly brought our food & charged me an extra two dollars for a side of peanut sauce because I couldn't eat the sauce that came with my dish. The food was okay, not bad, but not great or anything special. It was just mediocre.
