This is the place I go to for pho! This place gets pretty crowded so you need to get there early! They have really good portions at a really good price. and they don't skimp on the meat either! The flavor is just perfect! I haven't had any other dishes besides the pho so I can't speak for the rest of the menu.

Broth is solid. They used have to have the best pork chops in the city, but despite that, it's still pretty good. And with it being one of the first Vietnamese places in Kenner, it was definitely the place to go get your Vietnamese fix -- even though a number of other places have opened up since 2000. So if you go get their pho (broth), you'll be happy. P.s. They close before 7PM. If you want anything other than pho by 6:30PM, you have to go earlier.

Compared to My/Westminster/OC Standards. This place sucks now. I used to come here all the time during my high school days. PHO NOLA is ten times better nowadays...

Always good vietnamese food. Very cheap, and they offer fresh orange juice! Summer Rolls taste perfect with the peanut sauce, pho is also very good!

Everything was perfect, the spring rolls are so scrumptious. The restaurant itself could use an interior makeover.

  • Pompo B.

Slightly cheaper than the competition down the road but not without a reason for it. Even the most basic fresh rolls with peanut sauce are bland and not so appetizing. The rolls were full of rice noodles that tasted like Italian noodles instead. The peanut sauce was uninspiring to say the least. We ordered the "most requested" soup which according to the waiter was one of the top seller dish and we could hardly finish it. Full of "rice noodles" with an unidentifiable sliced meat in there. When they first brought the soup we smelled something strange like old and almost bad meat. The cilantro even was tasteless (frozen)? Not coming back! I much rather drive a mile westward and go to Pho Sunrise which is much much better as far as the food is concerned. Service was barely ok, as we set the waitress came by right away asking if we were ready to order when she saw us looking at the menu... Final verdict: cheap ingredients, tasteless and uninspiring food...

My absolute favorite pho place! I stop by here for to go at least once a week. The ingredients are always fresh and the food is delicious. While I have tried pho from several local places, I have yet to try a broth that can compete with Pho Bang! The spring rolls, the cubed steak (#31), and the grilled shrimp (#25) are other great options. Try it! You won't be disappointed!

The ambiance isn't spectacular but the pho is very good. The beef broth is rich and I can actually see traces of the marrow. The tendon literally melts in your mouth and the service is fine. I kind of wish they had soda dispensers so I could get refills on Coke but at least they have cans.

Best Pho I've had so far in New Orleans. I still haven't been to West End area where there's supposed to be the "best" Vietnamese food but coming from San Francisco where I eat Pho very very often, this place has the closest thing to authentic Pho. Their broth was been cooked properly for hours and the quality of the noodles is fantastic. Their prices are also extremely reasonable and I feel like the newer generation of Pho restaurants lose their authentic broth taste. Newer restaurants like Pho Orchid and Lilly's have a sweeter broth which isn't how pho normally tastes and they are charging 11 dollars a bowl. You can get an extra large bowl for under 7.50 here at Pho bang. Overall, excellent prices, authentic broth and decent service. Also their 3 bean drink is really good for only 3 dollars.

The fresh spring rolls and crispy spring rolls are very good here compared to some on the other place in the area. I don't compare them to other parts of the US cause we are not there. I've seen some old pics from 2010-2011 and this place seems to have got a face lift since then. Definitely worth a try! We're going back!

I went there with my daughters for lunch. The food was delicious. I ordered the lemongrass chicken with rice and it was delicious. The chicken is grilled unlike other Vietnamese restaurants where it taste boiled. My daughter ordered the grilled pork and shrimp with vermicelli. Apparently it was delicious because I didn't get a bite. My other daughter ordered pho and she said that's the best in town. The only reason I gave them three stars is because the service has always been fair. I had to keep repeating to our waitress that I wanted a cup of water NOT bottle and she brought me one. I am not sure if it's a language barrier or maybe because I'm not Vietnamese. Oh well I am not too sensitive because the food is good!

They do offer tap water now, so disregard previous reviews that have said otherwise. I love Pho Bang because it truly reminds me of home cooking. The Vietnamese egg rolls are the ones with the rice paper wrapping (sticky) which I love. The pho is amazing. What is the best part about this restaurant is the prices. They're real. No fancy up charge just for better decor. I'd rather great food than fancy decor. The servers don't constantly ask you if you need anything because they know all you need is a drink and your food. You pay up front when you're done and it's as simple as that. It's good food without all of the unnecessary froth.

This place is a hit or miss. Some days the pho is really good and sometimes it tastes cheap. The meatball in the pho is constantly changing. Most places have meatballs in the pho. This place you have to request it. The service is here is fast. "Asian people" fast. The staff are friendly but don't expect them to come visit the table to see how you're doing. It's typical tradition Vietnamese service. You get one shot at telling them what you want or they will not come around again unless flag them down.

  • Lindsay B.

This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant for a grilled pork and eggroll vermicelli bowl. It's literally the only Vietnamese restaurant that I have been to here that doesn't have fatty pork and it tastes so good! I love their eggrolls too!

  • Victoria T.

yep. another great vietnamese place in the metairie area. I have been going to this place for years long before other vietnamese restaurants started opening more down here. It's decent priced and the portions are great. I always get their Pho Dac Biet with a soda chanh. MMmm perfect. Other times when I am craving something else, I usually get the com suon bi cha, which is rice with pork chops. There are also many other options for different types of Pho too. It's always great to end it by ordering a che ba mau (viet dessert), which is a must have.

  • Jon G.

Very good pho, and what I'd describe as Italian-style portion control. (I'm very glad I ordered the small bowl... Judging from it, I probably could have used the large as a very savory hot tub.) Lots of soft tendon in the round-eye steak & tendon pho that I had. I'm slightly more likely to get my Pho fix from Pho Sunrise due to the parking situation and the fact that Casa Garcia is in the same strip mall as Pho Bang. That's not a knock on them. If the lot wasn't so cramped and such a pain in the backside, they would win out.

  • Zada S.

I don't go for the pho I go for the pork the grilled pork in a bun or over rice is amazing it's juicy ,flavorful and tender ! The fried spring rolls are great and they have a background taste that I love but just can't figure out what it is I have had the pho once but I'm all about the pork

One of the great things about pho is that it's a perfectly good meal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. If I had my way I'd eat it for all three. Pho Bang has the best pho I've had in New Orleans and I've looked all over (although I admit not everywhere). Prices are cheap and portions plentiful not to mention super tasty. I like to get the fresh spring rolls that come with an amazing (and addictive) peanut dipping sauce. Yum! Selection of pho is wide and varied, about 20 different ways you can get it. I like #18, fresh eye of round. Take a tip from me and avoid omosa, It's tripe. Literally. If there were anything I would change about Pho Bang it would be to add banh mi to the menu. That and having them take a credit card. That's right, this place is cash only but definitely worth the hassle. PS, if you're hungover from a hard night one of the best ways to feel better is a nice bowl of pho.

  • Julian V.

I was hungover going in. I was not hungover coming out. Pho Bang = awesome hangover cure. The pho here isn't memorable, but it's definitely one of the better places in the city. Most of the clientele are Vietnamese and/or Chinese from around Kenner, so you know it's straight up legit. This place is not open sunday. Which kind of defeats the purpose of trying to defeat a hangover. Good thing there's pregaming for Saints game. HAIR OF THE DOG, RIGHT?

  • Amy N.

I love Pho Bang. Their food never disappoints. My husband and I are both Vietnamese and we have both eaten here our whole lives. Their service is quick and prompt. We always order their Pho Dac Biet (Pho Special soup), Com Suon Bi Cha (rice and porkchops), Café Sua Da (coffee), and Da Chanh (lemonade). Perfect every time. You won't find high-class service here and most of the waitresses do not speak awesome English, but the food is always tasty and fresh. You can be in and out for lunch in 30 minutes. Pho Bang sets the standard for awesome Pho!

  • Julia M.

Best Vietnamese restaurant in metairie/Kenner area. I've been to Frosty's, Pho Orchid, and Pho Nola--none can compare to their taste, ingredients, price, and serving portions. It tends to get crowded for lunch and they only take cash, but this place is worth it.

  • Jonathan D.

It may be a chain, and it may be in a strip mall on a busy road way the hell out in Metairie, but if you are looking for fresh, authentic Vietnamese food, Pho Bang is where you should go. Prices are more than reasonable. The fresh rolls have sliced roasted pork in them, in addition to shrimp, which was something I personally was not used to, but they were still good. The fried spring rolls were amazing, the best I've ever had at a restaurant (as opposed to someone's kitchen). I'm led to believe the pho is tasty, but on my visit to Pho Bang I opted for the rice vermicelli with roasted pork, cucumbers and carrots (#21), which does not come with soup. Everything was fresh and delicious, the waitstaff was friendly and efficient. The ambiance is very basic and low-rent, but you're not coming to Pho Bang for a candlelight dinner.

Pho Bang is an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Casual atmosphere and the majority of the customers are Asian. We enjoyed the Goi Cuon (Shrimp Roll) and Cha Gio (Spring Rolls). Both come with four rolls per order and rolls are a good size. I tried the Pho Tai Sach (well-done beef and beef tripe) and found it very tasty. Pho Bang is reasonably priced. Five of us ordered Goi Cuon, Cha Gio, three bowls of Pho, a Bun Thit Nuong, a pork chop and rice dish, and drinks. Our bill came to around $40. This is a good place for lunch.

  • Kev L.

This place is woeful. Having dated a Vietnamese girl in a previous life, I am extremely familiar with homemade Pho. The Pho here you can easily tell has broth that was more than two days old. Pho broth is something that you should make fresh as its flavor can deteriorate after a day or two. This place uses old broth. I would also like to mention that the veggies used for the Goi Cuon were also not the best that I have had. The fish sauce here is also of lower quality than those I have had (in the U.S. or in Asia) The Vietnamese are known world over for high quality fish sauce. It's a shame this place does not do its best to present it's food with something worth eating. Let me also put out there, I went here on three different occasions. I REALLY wanted to like this place as it was the closest viet joint near my old residence. I will not eat here again.

Um, yum! It's definitely the best place to get pho in Metairie.

Best thing to eat for a hangover or a sore throat! Pho is the cure all method for hunger, as well!

The food was good and the price was right. The only downfall is the place closes early (6:45) and only accepts cash.

  • Kim N.

My family and I came here to get a nice meal before our flight at MSY airport. I've heard a lot of great things about Vietnamese food in Louisiana, and I was not disappointed at all after eating at Pho Bang. The food is great and comes in huge portions. My parents ordered vermicelli noodles and spring rolls, while I had their pho. Everything was authentic and reminded me of the legit Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose. Since I do have family that lives in New Orleans, I'll be ready to come back here when I'm in town.

  • Brad T.

I haven't had a lot of Vietnamese food to compare this with, but I really like this place. There is one major problem with the location I'll touch on in the Con's section. Pro's: 1) Great, simple, reasonably priced food in decent portions. 2) Staff is friendly but speak very little English. 3) Usually easy to get seated at any time. Con's: 1) Only major con is the parking lot is terrible. It's pretty much always full and there's literally no other place within walking distance to park. This has kept me from going there many times even though it's right by my house.

    (4)
  • Sophia T.

The tra da chanh here is my favorite! Always consistent with its flavor. I haven't been here in awhile to compare it to previous times, but I don't think I've ever had a bad experience. Service is quick. Food is good. Prices are reasonable. No complaints here.

Best pho in town, I have tried a lot of different pho places and so far, their beef broth is the best. We are regulars there and will continue to do so.

I came with my mom one night to Pho Bang because one of her friends had recommended it. It was around 6/7pm and I was not sure if they were closing soon. When we sat down the waitress told us that they were only offering soup for the rest of the night....well we did come for pho anyway so no problem there. She walked away, I picked up the menu, and literally 1 minute later she was right back at the table. I get that they only had pho left, but could I still at least glance at the other items on the menu? Totally felt rushed. If you can guess I ordered the combination pho with an iced tea. I have no idea what kind of iced tea that was, maybe a jasmine tea one, but it was AMAAAAZING! Goodness gracious I kept sipping that thing and getting refills like it was delicious liquid gold. I wish I could have a pitcher of it. I must sound ridiculous because it could very well be store bought tea and not home brewed one. Now the pho was pretty average to me and decently priced for the sizes. It was a simple broth with not really a bold flavor. Plenty of meat and noodles, with the larger size only seeming to just have more broth. I had to add a lot of the sauces to it for my own liking. My mom loves the pho here, but that is basically because she has only had it from here. Nothing bad with it, yet I have had better. The service could be a little nicer and the inside wasn't as decent looking as I prefer.

My first and best Vietnamese pho experience , food is always fresh, hot , cooked to order. Incredibly fast to the table , even when the place is wall to wall with people. Authentic viet food, friendly staff, calm quiet environment . In comparison to other local Pho places , not only is the price cheaper but the food is far better and larger portioned , the abundance of Vietnamese customers filling half of the place most visits speaks for itself on authenticity . The only drawback I can possibly think of is that they close for 6PM. Also, they are located in a very crowded strip mall where parking is difficult because of popularity of the business' in it. The inside is slightly dated but clean, it does have that "hole in the wall" feel.

  • Eddie S.

I don't think so. I feel guilty going against the grain with this one but the lack of service and informing me that they do not have "tap" water for the patrons has me pondering if they cook their soups with the 5 gallon jugs of Ozarka water or what? I had the Pho' here and it was not bad but barely on the mediocre mark. I base most of my reviews on a 5 prong notation so the only thing I can say is one star for the price and another star for the food. Not one visit to my table and it was not even during a lunch rush (don't judge me, I tip pretty good, I used to be a server too), minus one star because there is no such thing here as "tap" water (I did not see any purified Fuji 5 gallon jugs anywhere) and how long were they going to let the tables where patrons sat and ate go before bussing them? Maybe someone else wanted to sit by the windows? There doesn't seem to be that many Vietnamese restaurants that I found in the area but considering the choices that I did find, this place makes the other 4 look like fine dining and reputable competition.

Good food, lackluster service. Better service and food choices at Pho Sunrise down a few blocks on veterans!

  • Chau P.

This place over charges me every time I come here. They always ring up my orders a different price then what it suppose to be on the menu. So many people would miss this because the receipt isn't itemized. But I don't miss anything and every time I confront them their excuse aren't acceptable. They are thieves

  • Elizabeth D.

I'm not sure if was an off day, but the service was seriously lacking. They handed me the menu and literally one second later asked me if i was ready to order. I would like to at least open the menu and read it before I make a decision. I felt incredibly rushed to submit my order. They also forgot to give us utensils and small plates for the appetizer. The food, was pretty good. I had the summer deep fried spring rolls. They were just ok. My meal was the eye of round pho. This was pretty good. I've definitely had better pho, but again, it was pretty good. I would probably only come back if a friend reallllllyyyyy wanted to eat here.

Just as great as the ones in Elmhurst Queens and NYC. Large bowl for $7.25. Raw meat on the side, extra meatballs. I'm stuffed. Why the hell don't other Nola Pho places have fish sauce on the table? Pho Bang is best bang for the buck.

If I want a really, really good bowl of pho, Pho Bang is my first choice Vietnamese restaurant in the Metairie/Kenner area. The broth has a rich, heavenly flavor that satisfies my taste buds and my tummy. I always add lime juice to my pho to achieve a subtle citrus tang, so I never need to add Sriracha or hoisin sauce. Pho bo vien (meatballs) is my go to choice of pho. Perfect noodle to meat ratio for me. If I just want some pho broth, but not craving noodles, I get the rice with grilled pork chops dish (com suon nuong), which includes a side of soup! In the past, they used to include a fried egg on top without charge. Nowadays, not so much, and I always forget to add it with my order. The pork chops are relatively moist, and it has so much flavor, somewhat smokey, but delicious! And adding some fish sauce onto the meat and the rice is yum! The fried egg rolls are DELICIOUS! Hot, fresh, and moist! I think the price of a little less than $5 for four egg rolls is a great deal compared to other places. The prices at Pho Bang used to be a lot cheaper, but it is still the cheapest, high quality pho restaurant around. So far for me, the pho broth has been consistent and always delectable. Pho Bang now accepts credit cards with minimum of $10.

With chains located around the world, this Vietnamese hotspot is a great marvel to see. Feels like a small business restaurant and a popular traditional spot for locals to get their Vietnamese fix. This restaurant is cash only, no credit cards accepted. Parking is horrendous during lunch time, so plan ahead if you decide to come here.

  • Sam E.

By far the best Pho in terms of taste and quantity. Otherwise they can be pretty stingy on the limes. The guys who seems to be the owner/manager is not the friendliest of people but who cares: the food is worth it. The setting is your typical hole in the wall but an overall good place

Ordered beef pho to go when I got home found my beef to be raw and bloody in a plastic bag.. Horrifying to say the least

  • Rice B.

Went to Pho Bang during lunch on a weekday. It was crowded but service was fast and efficient. I asked for water and was served bottled water. Because I had to pay for water, I changed to limeade which was fresh, refreshing and delicious. Enjoyed the spring rolls with a delicious peanut sauce. Pho broth was bland, lacked flavor. Grilled pork with vermicelli rice noodles was okay, but had better at other restaurants. Staff was hard working and approachable.

  • Rachel A.

Great go to place for good fast takeout! Loved every bite!!! Price was great, fast service and super friendly staff. Get the Fresh Summer Rolls - really fresh and super delish, peanut sauce is creamy and just a tad spicy.

  • Jennifer B.

The spring rolls are exceptionally fresh and delightful. I had pho (#13, whatever it was, because anything but well done beef scares me). I mean, it's called Pho Bang... gotta try the pho, right? That, and they have no Banh Mi, which would typically be my Vietnamese go-to for lunch. Anywho, the pho is cheap and good. I probably could have just made a meal out of the spring rolls and peanut sauce, but ended up taking 1/2 of my meal home. Mmmm leftovers. I live on the westbank so I'm always weary of eastbank Vietnamese. After all, nowhere seems to be nearly as awesome as Pho Tau Bay and Kim Son. Oh, and according to their menu, they have a westbank Pho Bang location in Gretna, though I haven't been there. For eastbank food, is a good lunch spot, somewhat near work. For those with a short lunch break, I would recommend calling and ordering takeout. It does get very busy and service can be a little slow (but super friendly!).

    (3)
  • Mark A.

Good food, but if you ask for water, they might serve you tea "on accident." And they do charge for water, even though it's not on the menu.

    (3)
  • Bobby B.

It was ok. The spring rolls were pretty good. The pho, not so much. And the lack of banh mi was a disappointment. The day I was there, the door was broken and I was unlucky enough to be sitting near it. For 20 minutes, this guy stood on a chair, fiddled with a screw and slammed the door, fiddled with a screw and slammed the door. FIDDLED WITH A SCREW...THEN SLAMMED THE DOOR. I finally just left. Couldn't handle the major headache it gave me. I gave it three stars just because I KNOW that's not normal ( I hope). Oh..And I asked for water with lemon. I got a bottle of water (for a buck extra) and no lemon. Not cool. Maybe I should have given it 2...Oh well. Too lazy to change it.

  • Jill Y.

mmmmmm yummy! Pho Bang is a pretty good Vietnamese restaurant - simple decor, normal service of what you would expect for a chain Vietnamese restaurant, and yummy food! We usually get combination pho and the bun (dry noodles with pork chop and egg rolls). The Cafe su da (iced Vietnamese Coffee) is served hot, then you pour it over ice. Not bad, but I've had better. Overall, not a bad place for Vietnamese - of course, you can't beat little Saigon in Westminster, CA but this will satisfy your Vietnamese food craving!

    (3)
  • Steve I.

My favorite place to get some pho! Food is always consistent. It is a very busy and tiny place so be prepared to wait if coming during lunchtime. This is the place I frequent the most for great pho.

    (5)
  • Shannon S.

My least favorite Vietnamese place in the NOLA area so far. They didn't bother to bring me my vegetable plate to go with my pho and they only had selections of beef pho with no chicken, seafood, or other options. I've also heard this place is also a national chain so that seems a bit strange to me also. They do take credit cards with a posted minimum of $10 but they allowed me to charge my $8 pho with no problems. The service seemed a bit confused as there were two ladies that just served everybody haphazardly and then a guy from the back brought your food out to you so in all that chaos it is no wonder they forget my veggie plate. The beef pho I had was good I just prefer other places with better ambiance, service, and more choices.

    (2)
  • Casey B.

This place is very standard, but very consistent. Prices are great and you can get in and out pretty quickly. I ordered the #8 with no tendon. Look out for the mystery white meat!! The noodles at pho bang are a little thicker than i like, but the broth is delicious. The meat is actually pretty quality as well. The atmosphere is mixed with about 70% Asians and 30% Caucasians which is usually a good sign for the authenticity of the food. A few notes: -Pho bang claims to only serve bottled water. -The iced tea is not your traditional iced tea so beware Very quick and gets the job done for $8 CASH ONLY
