Ordered lettuce wraps, Dan Dan noodles, egg roll and Thai dynamite. When I got home the noodles only contained chicken and noodles, no bean sprouts or cucumber. So, I called them to find out what was supposed to be included. When I told the girl that I only had chicken and noodles, she said that the sprouts and cucumber were in there, I probably just couldn't see them. You're damn right I couldn't see them because they weren't there!!! I asked to speak to a manager who told me he would "make it right" if I came back or he would comp my next order. Thanks, dude, but after screwing up once, why would I come back??? I guess that's what second chances are for. I ordered online at 4:20 and requested my order be ready for 5:00. It was 5:15 when they had it ready. The rest of the food was decent and the servings were plenty. However, I think I would rather spend my money at China Rose. This place definitely needs a while longer to work out the bugs and kinks.

I have never eaten in this restaurant - I've always gotten a to-go order. That being said ALWAYS place your to-go order online so you don't have to wait the 30+ minutes for them to prepare. I ordered 3 spring rolls, 3 lettuce wraps and some pad Thai for my family. I looked at the bag to "check" my order and it looked like it was all there, but when I got home one of the lettuce wraps were missing. I called and asked for a manager and he actually gave me all three of my lettuce wraps for free ($20 value!) I was thoroughly impressed and will get a to-go order from here in the future. Also, there are special to-go parking spots and a to-go entrance in the side.

This place basically has a condensed P.F. Chang's menu with prices to reflect as much. I ordered the Mongolian beef and Dan noodles... two of my favorites from PF's. I thought they were both just as good here and the pricing was much better for my lunch budget. I was also impressed with the electronic menu ordering system... too much to explain here, but you should check it out. My only complaint was with the wait time... it took FOREVER for my to-go order to come out. I was told 15 minutes, and it was more like 30-40. This place is set up as a "quick service" type restaurant, and they definitely need to work on the quick part of that. BOTTOM LINE: PF Changs lite.

Our favorite place to eat while we are in town. The food is perfect, and the staff is friendly. The freshness of the food is unbelievable, and we enjoy watching our food prepared.

Pei wei's parent company is P.F. Chang, and i would like to note that the quality of the food is about the same, but the price is cheaper. The food and decor is a step up from Panda Express. The seating and atmosphere is definitely a step up from Panda Express, but it still has that cafeteria/fast food feel. I definitely like how the menu is set up on the computer screens, but the items seem to be severely limited. The drink stand was nice, and I was able to sample everything (well, really 2-3 types of iced teas) before making my final choice. The service at Pei Wei's was actually pretty good, we were attended to very quickly, and our server actually asked us how everything was going. Although it was too cold to sit outside for the random cold day of the year that I went. There is ample outdoor seating, which is always a plus for me.

We ordered a spicy tuna roll, shrimp fried rice, and salad rolls. The only thing that was decent was the spicy tuna roll and pei Wei isn't even known for sushi. The fried rice was super mushy, the rice was way over cooked. It didn't even taste like fried rice. Finally, my salad rolls were soggy, very unappetizing, and bland. If you know your Asian food, you will be disappointed eating here.

I had high expectations for this place only to be disappointed. The food was alright, nothing special. I don't see myself coming here often.

Its the best fast food asian youre going to get. On our first visit we tried: dan dan noodles-says spicy but theyre not. pork egg rolls-think fried spring roll and skip the honey mustard sauce lemongrass noodle salad- refreshing mild flavor won ton soup-strange herb added. maybe cilantro? crab rangoons-ordinary but good honey chicken and white rice-white meat chicken with a sticky sweet sauce similiar to pf changs. the rice was good wen it was met with some of the sweet sauce. orange green tea-yummy! Apparently, the kitchen lost the ticket to the table next to us and I saw an employee quickly hand them free lunch coupons for their next visit. Love the green tea option with the fresh oranges and or lemon. free fortune cookies for the kiddos or the big kiddos. Same sauce like pf changs too so you personalize your food however you like. Not that much to choose from for picky eaters or kids

I can't help it, I'm obsessed. It's too easy to order online and pick it up for lunch... and they have nutrition facts - hey they have some healthy options! You can add vegetables to your meal and they're always fresh and crisp - I highly recommend. The pei wei spicy, sweet and sour, spicy korean, and honey seared tofu are all so good (and have the least sodium of the other dinner options). They are always quick, clean, and friendly. This is one of the very few chains that I fully support.

Enjoy coming here for lunch but if you don't want to be a hostess please find another job. Come here almost once a week and just hate looking at the face of apathy. I don't even want to ask for anything.

This is my go-to-take-out place for fresh healthy food at a reasonable price.... Outstanding atmosphere, easy ordering process online. I must say please double check your order prior to leaving bcuz they always tend to FORGET SOMETHING!!!! A smaller version of P. F Changs, but more affordable.

I'm not gonna lie...I was hatin' on this place without trying it first. I am guilty of being judgmental for the following reasons: -I don't like fast food Chinese food -I don't like PF Changs so naturally I avoided this place like the plague. It was the decided destination for a work lunch and I didn't feel like arguing nor eating alone so I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised and here is why: -Other options besides Chinese -seemingly higher quality than mall or fast food grade -lots of options including veggie I really enjoyed what I got and would return for a quick lunch or for take out.

Hmm... Pei Wei. I think the best way to describe this place is "Panda Express meets McAllisters." You basically get food that is a step or two above Panda Express (as others have mentioned, Pei Wei is the same company as PF Changs). Unlike Panda Express, you order at the counter and then the food is cooked, rather than sitting in a cafeteria-style line. The servers then bring you your meal, much like at McAllister's Deli. I came here for lunch finally and only had one person in front of me, but still waited about 5 mins to place my order. Once I ordered, I waited another 15 mins for my food. No big deal, as I only came here because I needed to take a long lunch break. I don't know that it was really worth $8 for a plate of mostly brown rice, and a little bit of "thai dynamite chicken," but good nonetheless. I'm kind of jealous of the reviewer that said their food was drowning in sauce, because mine had very minimal sauce and thus nothing to eat the brown rice with (besides soy sauce... bleh). I think next time I'll just stick to the lettuce wraps - my usual PF Changs order when I'm forced to go there. Can't go wrong with the wraps, and it's cheaper at Pei Wei. That being said, it will probably be a while before I return, because it's really nothing special.

It's not going to knock your socks off, and it sure isn't PF Changs, but if you're looking for Chinese take out in the New Orleans area it's your best bet. They have a lot of vegetarian options, and they even have a small gluten free menu......although most of the items on the gluten free menu aren't vegetarian :-/ All in all I'd recommend them for cheap Chinese eats, and it's cheap. Oh and I love the crab ragoons!!!

This was my second visit to Pei Wei. My first visit was on a weekend. The restaurant was pretty busy. The food came out quickly. I got the Hot & Sour soup which was a little different than usual, but delicious. I also ordered a small Thai Dynamite with chicken, really good and a lot of food for the price. Today, a week day at lunch , was not as busy. I ordered the small Pei Wei spicy shrimp. Very good. My companions ordered Thai Pad with steak and Ginger chicken. I haven't tried the sushi, wraps or salad rolls yet. I read a few reviews before I went, and a few before writing this. I think this place has good fresh food, good friendly service and is clean. PF Chang could learn from them!

Seems like it can't decide if it wants to be a nice sit-down restaurant or a fast-food joint, and it suffers from that indecision. "Being neither fish nor fowl, one knows not where to have her.", to borrow a review from Shakespeare. Prices and decor suitable for someplace nice, ordering experience and menu selection of a fast-food place. The food was good and there was plenty of it, which is what saves it from a lower rating.

I really don't know why everyone is hating on this place so bad.. I really like it and go whenever I want PF Changs but don't have the time to wait or the money to spend on dining out. It is the exact same food and I enjoy my favorite dishes of chicken lettuce wraps, mongolian beef and honey shrimp with fried rice. My friends and I go here and spend less than 15 bucks for lunch!! Love it!! I wish they served alcohol because a mai tai would be nice with my quick version of PF Changs..

Ordered the general tso chicken (I believe they called it spicy chicken) with vegetables along with my g/f ordering the honey chicken with veggies . The portion was tiny, the chicken was dry beneath the saucy coating on both meals (we were sharing) . The fried rice was dry and hard obviously instant min rice cooked wrong. Anyone who is telling you that this place is some express version of PF changs and/or even close to that , is spreading propaganda. I have had better Chinese food in hole in the wall places and mobile food trucks. Don't believe the hype, they have a fancy building and sign but the food sucks

I'm not exactly the biggest fan of P.F. Chang's, so I probably should've just skipped Pei Wei altogether. But what fun would that be? In reading the other reviews it seems people either really, really like this place or don't care for it at all. I would fall in the latter of the two groups. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't exactly good either. It was, however, in the range of $35 for lunch for two which included 2 entrees, 1 egg roll, 2 drinks and a tip. I'd rather find a hole-in-the-wall Chinese joint and spend half that amount for food that is just as good, if not better (depending on which hole-in-the-wall you frequent.) I found the whole ordering process to be kind of confusing. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but give me a menu I can hold in my hands that lists out my choices. I felt totally rushed trying to absorb everything at once standing there at the register, plus having to figure out how to build my own entree. (You pick your type of meat, then sauce, etc. But, to me at least, it was about as clear as mud how it worked.) Okay, so I'm going off on a bit of a tangent here, but what is up with all of these places cropping up that make you stand in line and order at the counter, fix your own drink and then sit down and wait for your food to be delivered? Yes, I know the concept is the hot new thing in an attempt to elevate the status of a restaurant from fast food to "casual dining." Whatever. Sounds good in theory, I supposed, but the reality is that it still takes as long as sit-down dining but I have to do half the work myself. And, of course, now I also have to leave a tip. This trend needs to hurry up and die already. But that's not so much a Pei Wei comment (although they do subscribe to the concept) but more of an observation in general. They have one of those freestyle drink dispensers. Not terrible in and of itself, but good luck if you end up waiting behind someone who (1) doesn't know how to use it or (2) can't make up their mind. You also have to get your own utensils, condiments and fortune cookie. So, either awkwardly carry it all or make multiple trips. The food came out pretty quickly, but we were one of only about four tables of diners (all of which already had their food when we came in.) The food was very P.F. Changs-esque, but definitely not P.F. Chang's. Another reviewer said it was similar to their frozen dinners. I've never had one, but the description makes sense to me. The portion sizes were okay. They were crazy generous with the rice and rice noodles plus a fair amount of meat for the price. Been there, done that. Pei Wei has officially been crossed off the list.

For what it is, the food is decent. It's definitely not authentic Chinese food, but doesn't taste bad nonetheless. I like the Dan Dan noodle and a few other dished when I am in the mood for Chinese American cuisine. If I want something more authentic, I'd probably go to a non-chain one in the area.

Waited over 30 minutes for a bowl of chicken Pad Thai on a Saturday afternoon at around 2:30 pm. They made it seem as if that was normal. Will not be returning, as if this is the case on a weekend, how would it be during the week when most people only have an hour break if that. When my bowl actually came out, it was just mediocre tasting. What a disappointment.

Been here a couple times with my girlfriend. Last night they were out of wonton soup and brown rice, but apparently they had a crazy hectic day. Either way we got the crab wontons, chicken lettuce wraps, and caramel chicken plate with noodles. An we both thoroughly enjoyed all of it (despite not getting wonton soup). The service is excellent and fortune cookies are self-serve! Price is good because it's pretty quick once you order and you get quite a bit. We'll be back next time we want quick "Chinese" food.

Pei Wei Asian Diner is a partner company (sorta) to popular chain, PF Chang's. While PF Chang's is a sit down restaurant - Pei Wei is counter service (on a higher level than Panda Express). Once you walk in, you feel like you are in a "fast food PF Changs" - you walk up to a counter rep where the menu is digital in front of you and place your order, get seated, fix your drink on the digital coke machine like many places have now (Wendys, etc) and wait for you food! While knowing that it is partnered with PF Chang's - don't go in there expecting it to TASTE like PF Chang's - because it doesn't. The fried rice bowl is PLENTY for $7 - looking for a smaller option, try the kids size - it's just right! I had the sesame chicken which came with white rice - did not try much of the rice but the chicken was good despite being SPICY. That is another thing, the little peppers next to some menu items mean exactly what you'd think ... SPICY. They don't slack off in that department! Overall, I may go back and try another chicken dish, many say the honey chicken is great!! Pros: Quick ordering Next to soda machines - fortune cookies, Togo boxes, silver wear, fresh oranges, etc. Great portion sizes for the prices Being able to refill drink on your own makes it easier AND faster Cons: Soda machine is digital - so if you get Diet Coke... it may taste like Hi C if that what the person before you got, etc. Some dishes come out to table faster than others - which I know just keeps the kitchen going. Only one stall per bathroom - at times caused long lines stringing into dining area Avoid RIGHT at lunch time While parking is good now - wait until Panera Bread opens next door or at night when Bonefish Grill is open - can't imagine how crazy that parking lot gets! Whoever decided to put a frozen yogurt place in that shopping center with three new restaurants sure made the right choice ... great spot for you! I recommend Pei Wei - at least give it a shot. They even have a separate spot for take away - if you want PF Changs type food, but faster AND cheaper :)

15min till close time and everyone was so polite and friendly. Everyone was very attentive. Spring roll was forgettable but everything else was very good. The wonton soup was amazing!!! We will be back on our next biz trip. If we don't come back before we leave. :)

The people who were in line behind us ordered their food, got it, ate it, and left before we got ours. Took over an hour to get a salad that was mildly warm and drowning in dressing. I took a few bites and realized I was eating lettuce soup. No joke, there was 3/4 of an inch of dressing in the bottom of that bowl. Unfortunately, the only people you can actually get to in order to ask questions are food runners. I asked one person to find out where our second dish was (They were served about 15 minutes apart) and didn't see her again. I guess she decided to avoid our area rather than to come back and let us know the status of our food. I MAY be back in a month or so when they've worked out the kinks, but as of right now, they are on my list of places to avoid.

I wasn't sure what to expect, I was thinking it would be more like a P.F. Chang's instead of a walk up-and-order place. It was not bad. I got the pad thai with tofu, which was kind of bland but it was edible. My friend got a really good steak dish that I will order when I go back. I also got an order of 2 cream cheese wontons. I liked that I could just order 2 for myself instead of a large order that comes with 5 or 6. I wish more places would do that. The prices were very reasonable. and my portion of pad thai was huge. I will be sure to go back when I am in the area.

Alright, I don't know if I'm just crazy and was too excited when they opened, or if this place has fallen onto the crappy Louisiana chain list, but it's not as good as I remember in Texas. Other Yelpers are right when they say there is some seriously heavy-handed soy sauce use going on. The most disappointing dish for me is the Dan Dan noodles because I'm cheap and like to think that I'm getting P.F. Chang's food for a discount. The sauce isn't as flavorful and the noodles are gummy and stuck together..boo. I still like Pei Wei for their relatively low prices and protein options, but I think I'll be trying it again back home before I come back.

Love they stuck with one color scheme black. The market fare meals for $4 can't be beat. I love that you get choice of white or brown rice. This place has to be good for some guy who was standing in line said he has been here 5 times since they opened. I was so happy when I saw edamame on the menu. This place is a good place for vegetarians cuz all there entrees come with a vegetable and tofu option. Im sorry but i have to deduct a star cuz i had to wait 30 mins for my Chicken Curry when it was not very busy. The manager told me it was because they had a shift change but in my opinion thats no excuse. May be a while before i return.

Honestly, I would like to say something nice about this place but I CAN'T bring myself to find a decent comment. OK here goes, the menu is really fancy and cashier service is pretty fast. Unfortunately, the bad outweighs the OK comments. The food was NO PF Changs not even CLOSE., however, it took just as long as PF Changs would take. Got my dish and was like where are my taste buds? Just reminded me of some corner store chinese food. I can't knock the hustle great concept. So, with that said, I am happy there is a knockoff PF Changs because the wait is ridiculous.

Ordered diner selects of mongolian beef and honey seared chicken, both with fried rice and asian coleslaw. The fried rice is soaked in soy sauce, it was unpleasant. Mongolian beef just tasted like soy sauce as well. Honey seared chicken was the only good thing my party ordered. Asian coleslaw was just some shredded up carrots, onions and maybe a little cabbage, I couldn't believe this is what I paid for. Would not order from this place again. Maybe the chef was new, I don't know, but both dishes were swimming in soy sauce and it wasn't very good. You can spend the same amount of money at a real Chinese restaurant and get edible food.

I waited till the opening insanity died down to try this place out. First, i placed an order online, and it was ready before I even got there and the order was 100% correct. That was a huge plus. We tried the Korean and Thai options with the Veggie and Tofu. Both were excellent and were super flavorful. Will absolutely go back and try out some of the other veggie options there in the next few weeks. Only downside was the eggrolls were a lil oily but super hot.

Pei Wei is a lower price point PF Chang's. If you like the frozen PF Chang dinners you will like Pei Wei. As soon as you pull back the door, a line of people stand before you, which is not the most ideal set up, because you could end up waiting outside. I had lunch with a coworker and we arrived around noon. The wait time was reasonable, despite the crowd. Digital boards display the menu and there are a couple of pictures. If you're a picky eater or have dietary issues, you'll want to study the menu online before setting foot inside because none of the menu items have descriptions. It will just say spicy chicken salad; spring rolls; steak noodle bowl. I promise you that these items have more than the basic ingredients you would expect, but it's a surprise. Your order is taken by clerk with a digital register and there is a separate "take out" entrance/service area, which is convenient. While you're waiting to have your order taken, another employee will ask how many are in your party and assign you a table based on a number that is displayed on what looks like a coaster. It's a good system as it helps turn the tables over quickly and ensure you won't have food without a seat to enjoy it. A digital drink machine befuddled many a diner. Touch screens are the present not the future people, it's just soda. Press the picture of what you want to drink and press the button, magic, liquid in a cup. The cool thing about the set up is the dining room is modern and everything is maintained by the drinks. Lemon wedges and orange wedges are available to add to your drink along with utensils, chop sticks, fortune cookies and takeout boxes. It took a while for my order to come out and I ordered a salad. I was told they burned the chicken twice and third time is the charm. I appreciated the honesty and understand that they are still working through some hiccups. While I waited, I had a couple of the servers/busers check on me, so that was cool. The staff is well trained and operates like a sit-down restaurant, even though you are eating a fast food style menu. Glad we finally landed a Pei Wei!

This review is based on 2 separate visits. I tried several items each time. Overall, I wish the food was as satisfying as the online ordering experience; oh, and be sure to take your diuretic first...even if you don't normally take one. On my first visit I did not receive one entree which I ordered, but received two which I did not...but one of those two was included free. This was discovered at home, not at the restaurant. An interesting trade-off. Inconsistent kitchen service aside, online ordering and picking up food to go here is an absolute pleasure, a model of efficiency. The website is fantastic and allows you to be fairly specific as to your exacting specifications. Note to Pei Wei Inc- how about an option for easy on the soy sauce (more on THAT to come). Ok, now on the food... * Lemongrass chicken noodle salad - should be full of bright tropical flavors (as advertised) including lemongrass, pineapple, and lime. What do you actually taste? Soy sauce. So much so that is clobbers any other flavors that might potentially be hiding. Extremely one-note flavor profile. Huge bust. Bad recipe or poor execution? You let me know as I won't be ordering this again. *Bangkok noodles - Sounds fantastic. Sweet chile soy, ginger, Thai basil, cilantro, sesame seed tossed with red bell pepper, radish, broccoli, tomato vegetable garnish. What do you get? Egg noodles very similar in shape and texture to traditional semolina spaghetti drenched in a thick soy glaze, 2 or 3 pieces each broccoli, red bell pepper, and fried chicken breast bites. Oh and a single lead of cilantro to garnish. Flavor profile overwhelmingly dominated by soy. When I got home I added the juice of about 1/3 lime and maybe 1/2 tablespoon of cilantro to try to cut the soy somewhat to no avail. This was not "a bit too salty"... rather, this was like "oops I knocked the bottle of soy sauce over " salty. Unsalvageable. Inedible. Threw it away. Take a look at my waistline; I am obviously not prone to throwing food away. *Caramel chicken - Pineapple, ginger, garlic, lemongrass, mint, asian slaw, "Vietnamese vinaigrette." Sounds right up my alley. How was it? Invisible. This is the entree I never received. *Spicy Korean (beef) - Korean hot pepper sauce, garlic, sesame with mushroom and long (green) bean garnish. Completely one-note again. Beef with soy glaze. Edible, but fantastically boring. Bad recipe or poor execution? A recurring theme?? *Sweet & Sour (chicken) - It was good! This was the entree I was given for free on my first visit, as designated with a "just because" sticker on it. A fantastic way to engender customer retention. However, an even better method would be quality control in the kitchen. This was a proper sweet & sour, no glow-in-the-dark, pink antifreeze-colored glowstick test tube sauce here. Clearly a tomato and pineapple based sauce, as it should be, I imagine this is exactly the same item you would get at PF Chang's. This is the last thing in the world I would ever order of my own volition, but I'm glad they were willing to give it away. *Mandarin Kung Pao (chicken) - This was the other entree received that I did not order on my first visit. Not bad. Pretty typical. Not especially memorable, which is why I don't have much to say about it. Meh. *Pei Wei Spicy (chicken) - This is supposed to be their version of General's chicken. Slightly sweet, slightly salty, generally light on flavor overall. Mediocre. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for General's chicken, you should be going to Beijing on Clearview@south I-10 service road...it's the bizness. *Thai Coconut Curry (shrimp) - If one orders chicken as protein here, and they were to use the same chunk chicken breast as seems to be used in all other entrees, it would be a fairly large mistake. Keep that in mind. This is a green curry with red bell pepper and long bean (traditional veg garnish, and consistent with the menu description)......and broccoli, carrot, and snap peas (not as advertised, but the same vegetables that are otherwise ubiquitous among their entrees. Not that I'm opposed to extra veggies, but this everything-but-the-kitchen-sink rogue approach at this specific kitchen only further dilutes any feigned nod to authenticity that might be inferred here. Maybe they were running out of long beans? The sauce did bear a pale resemblance to any other green curry. If you're in the neighborhood and in the mood for green curry, you should be going to Siamese, no more than a mile west of here on Veterans Blvd.

Definitely not a fan of Pei Wei. Fried rice was very bland. Mongolian beef very different. The special sauce was not even good. We tried a little of everything. I was hoping to like this place because I am a fan of P.F. Changs. It's not much cheaper than P.F. Changs. So if you have a Changs craving skip this place!!!

Pei Wei's food is really, really fresh and very, very tasty. This chain is a creation of the P.F. Chang people, so you know you're in for a treat! The ambiance is very cool and the dining room feels comfortable. The meats are cooked perfectly, plump shrimp, juicy soft chicken, soft beef, and soft pork. The flavors are an absolute delight with the ingredient combinations marrying unexpectedly beautifully! There is a distinct authentic wok flavor to mostly all the dishes. You should know that you have to place order FIRST with the cashier, get your self-service beverages, and then you sit down at your table. I got a bit of everything to take back to work to share with my coworkers. Small plates of Bangkok Noodles (prepared *extra* spicy) and Black Bean Chicken and Rice were both wonderful. I esp. liked the black bean chicken, the flavors were brilliant! I also got a spring roll and a pork egg roll. The spring roll was really good but the egg roll's abundant ground pork was not very flavorful. We got Diner Selects dishes of Honey Seared Chicken and Teriyaki (crispy) Shrimp. The honey seared chicken was just okay and the rice sticks were a little weird for me, but that's just me. The teriyaki shrimp was awesome! I also tried a bunch of their sauces to see what dishes I'd like to try in the future. The Mongolian sauce was thick, robust, and extremely tasty. The Pei Wei Spicy sauce was delicious and spicy with fresh scallions in it. The lo mein sauce was tasty and mellow with mild fresh chopped garlic in it. The sweet & sour sauce was just what I expected, nothing unique, but still quite good. I went here at lunchtime on a Friday and the place was jam packed. I used their convenient order-on-line to place my order for pickup on peiwei.com . I didn't realize there is a separate door/entrance at the restaurant for take-out orders and accidentally stood in line for quite a few minutes. The manager was very nice to point out the take-out entrance to me and offered me a comp for my trouble. We like! There are also a couple designated take-out parking spaces right in front which is nice. Oh YES - I WILL be back!

I love pei wei i was so glad to have it finally come to the nola area. I see alot of reviews comparing it to other restaurants but ive always thought of it as its own entity its not your average chinese takeout and its not pf changs. If you go here with an open mind and not going in thinking your going to get general tso from a chinese take out place I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Ingredients are fresh but they need to work on their sauces, only worth the visit if there is a promotion running.

Very costly for two dinners that were the size of a lunch portion. Their Thai dish was really just a Chinese dish with a fancy name. Wouldn't recommend this place , we were disappointed.

Six months ago this would have been four stars. This place is going down hill. I'm a regular, ordering take out and dining in anywhere from 4-8x a month. More than half of the time I've come here the people working the register are one of the following 1. No personality robot, 2. Are not even there, but chit chatting with other employees, 3. Incompetent. I'm writing this revel now because I really hope the manager reads this: the floors are unbelievable boy dirty, 1/4th of the tables are dirty and unattended. The area where all the condiments are is filthy. I walked in and stood waiting five minutes for someone to take my order. Finally a cook told one of the girls to get back to the front. It was only me. But by the time the cook told the girl to get back to the front there were four other people behind me. Waiting. The lady that just brought my food just set it down and walked away. No, "Enjoy!" No nothing. That's not pleasant!!! There are no fortune cookies left in the bowl. All empty. Somebody refill it please! One of the drink machines is out of ice. Come on guys, get your shit together! This is classic bad management. And I have a Bachelors degree in International Business. This is freshman year stuff. I used to enjoy coming here because this place was consistently good in food and service. The food is still good, from the dishes I order, but the service department flunks miserably. Did I mention the girl that brought me my food is flirting obnoxiously with the cooks? So unprofessional. No place, especially franchises, should strive to be average, to be just good enough. You should strive to have the best customer service possible. So what if your name isn't on the ownership papers, your name is still on the line for your reputation on management and chains especially look at that for promotions. All this being said, if they don't make any major improvements the next time I come back, they'll be losing me as a customer. But by the looks of the way things are being run around here, they may not care. What a shame.

My wife is a big fan of Pei Wei. Friday night we went to this location for dinner. This was my first time here. Hopefully it will be my last. I was rather disappointed with the food. But I am getting ahead of myself. Pei Wei has your typical upper end quickie cafe style decor. I think it is a better atmosphere for a lunch crowd. I decided to really give this place a fair try. I started with the Thai Wonton Soup and 2 of the pork egg rolls followed by my entree of combo Pad Thai. The Wonton soup basically had no flavor but the actual wontons were decent. The egg rolls were very oily like they had been sitting under a heat lamp. The taste wasn't very good due to the oil and I needed a small cup of hot mustard to make them eatable. My Pad Thai arrived and looked and smelled promising. However, it was very salty and I had to ask for some chili sauce to cut the saltiness down. Bottom line I was not impressed with Pei Wei. HOWEVER! My wife ordered the King Pao chicken (extra spicy) and love hers. Go figure.

I've passed by several times and never tried it until my friend wanted to go for her birthday. Looking at the menu I was a little skeptical that I would like it. The menu is a little confusing. Once you figure it out though, you learn that there are several delicious options. I tend to try to eat on the healthier side and noticed they serve brown rice. Brown rice is tricky to cook so I wasn't expecting it to be all that great. I was wrong! That was some of the best brown rice I've ever had. All the food was delicious and the price was right! Looking forward to going back sometime.

As a huge fan of PF Changs lettuce wraps, I'm automatically a big fan of Pei Wei. Anywhere I can walk in and get an order of my lettuce wraps without having to have a reservation or wait 30 minutes or more for a table is aces in my book. I'm also pretty fond of their sushi rolls. They don't have a huge selection of rolls; I think only 4 or 5, but you can get a small side order of 4 or a full roll of 8 for a very fair price. The people are friendly, the service is pretty good, there's outdoor seating available and prices are reasonable. Yes, technically with the ordering concept, its falls under a fast food category, but in reality it's a step above that classification.

Fast food asain. It was ok. I had shrimp pad thai. I wasn't bad... but its wasn't memorable.

This is the proliteriat version of PF Chang's, a Westernized, upscale chain of Asian-inspired dishes and cocktails. Hearty servings, in sterile, vaguely modern surroundings. There's an open kitchen, so everyone can see what's what. The food is fine. You're not here for an authentic Chinese experience. It's a good grab-and-go if you're trying to eat healthier.

I always enjoyed Pei Wei back in CA and was glad to see that they have opened some in Louisiana. I have been to this location about 5-6 times and each time has been very good. I generally prefer ordering ahead and getting it to go but I have eaten in at least once as well. I like how they make your order fresh and customize it to how you prefer. I really enjoy the Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps. For the entrees, everything I have tried has been great. They give you a decent amount of food too. We usually have enough for leftovers later.

Although not my first pick, this fast casual version of P.F. Chang's is one of the chains I consider dining at while visiting Metairie if I am in serious and immediate need of food. They describe themselves as an "Asian Diner", with no real commitment to any particular cuisine, which is fine, but it leaves the menu as generic and superficial. It's okay though, because I'm not stupid... if I want authenticity or depth, I do not go to chain restaurants. The service is quick and very friendly. The order taker at the counter was kind and smiley despite my "Today needed to end five hours ago" demeanor. The open kitchen allowed me to watch my meal being made to order, which was a nice distraction while we waited. The spicy tuna roll came out very quickly, and tasted okay. It tasted light and fresh, but nothing spectacular. I was grateful that it was served with a satisfactory amount of wasabi on the side. The Pad Thai was also just okay. It was indicated on the menu as a spicy item. I guess it had a little heat, but not enough to warrant a "this is a spicy item" notation. The portions are huge, so be prepared to share or take a significant amount of food home in a to-go box, conveniently stacked by the Coke machine. Overall, Pei Wei is alright... a little bland, but cooked to order, with friendly service.

My first time eating at Pei Wei food was fast and affordable. I did think it was a little strange that they put tofu in chicken pad thai but it still was ok wish there was a little more chicken though. The manager was very friendly and gave me free one time he said they made extra but I think he had them made for me because I was confused about the tofu. Look forward to trying something new next time.

No real flavor to my food. When I asked for salt and pepper, she poured some salt into a container but said they were out of pepper, which I guess explains the lack of flavor. Out of diet coke, and only flavored or carbonated water..no plain water. Just a bad experience.

Love the chain but not a fan of this particular location. They don't seem to have enough staff (probably because they aren't making the money they anticipated because the food isnt good) and the food is always a bit off. I got the kung po beef and the beef itself was soggy and not crispy and there were no sugar snap peas in the dish, just carrots, and way to many of those. I came when it first opened and was not impressed but wrote it off as opening pains. This is my fourth and last visit. This location gives the chain a bad name which is sad as its a great chain. TG there is a location on carralton...and its good!

They have small dishes now. They are perfect for a light lunch. Start with the edamame, delicious and healthy. Try the Kung Pao Shrimp, very good and nice sized portions. You can't go wrong here!

The employees are typically lacking in social skills, and the utensils are out for everyone to touch. If not for that, I would give 5 stars. My family and I are gluten free. We love having a place that we can all go to and enjoy without a huge price tag. We can easily get two meals out of each entree.

Pei Wei is owned by PF Chang's. This is another of those nontraditional type dining experiences that have been popping up everywhere. You know those type where you walk in and you are instantly hit with the thought, "This is odd, What do I do now? Maybe I should just leave." When you step inside, there is a wall, three electronic menus, and a counter. Behind the counter there are several people that appear very busy doing pretty much nothing. They are quite decorative however, and make a great compliment to the various cooking tools that look as though they would be large enough to feed an army. This is not the type of place where you sit down then order. You read your menu, feel pressured to hurry and decide, place your order and then sit down and wait for them to bring it to you. (I personally hate this style of restaurant, but they are becoming more popular.) Then I sit there in agony wishing I hadn't ordered what I ordered and my mood gets spoiled because I am annoyed at the idiotic concept of rushing people as soon as they walk in the door....... They food here is just average. (salty!!) I liked it and my husband really liked it, but it was just average Chinese food. It tastes exactly like what you would buy at the grocery store in the freezer section and cook at home. You know if you were craving super saucy PF Chang's food straight from the freezer? You can get it here at a pretty steep price with all the hassle of getting dressed fighting traffic looking for a parking spot in the new parking lot and plopping down in a pretentious looking short order restaurant surrounded by other pretentious looking restaurants. It makes me wonder if they use the multitude of interesting looking cooking instruments strategically positioned around the very visible kitchen there. The restaurant is very clean, and the service is above average. The seating is comfortable and the atmosphere is cozy. I occasionally like to be pretentious and eat frozen tasting food so I will make another trip here.

This quick version of PF chang's is fine if you need as Asian food fix, but don't expect it to be on the same level as PF Chang's. Today I had their pork egg roll and their fried rice. They weren't bad, just on the bland side. The employees here are always nice, and I am a fan of the venue. It's always nice when outside seating is an option!

Pei Wei's food is pleasing to the eye but most of their dishes are either too salty (Chicken Pad Thai) or have no flavor (Lo Mein and Dan Dan noodles). One dish I do crave there is their Thai Dynamite Chicken! Pei Wei is always fast and fresh too so those are definite pluses. Pei Wei is like the McDonald's of the chinese restaurant world. It's good if you don't know any better or don't really care about what you eat.

Came here for lunch with my wife and I ordered the Mongolian beef with white rice and she had the Pei Wei shrimp with brown rice. They both came out before our appetizer spicy tuna roll. We found everything to be sub par to our expectations of a pf changs restaurant. Do not order the sushi rolls here they taste frozen... The rice is extremely cold and slimy, could tell it was not fresh. Will not be going back!

First visit ever to a Pie Wei. The food was quite good for the money. I gave them a four star because: 1. the person taking my order had zero friendliness or customer service training, though they did get my order right. 2. The sushi was not really sushi but a near cousin of sushi with too much rice though the flavor was good. 3. The ambiance was GREAT - very comfortable and relaxing. 4. The Hot and Sour soup bowl was gargantuan and was delicious. 5. The vegetables we had were cooked well and spiced well without being over cooked. 6. The Wrap fixins were all very tasty and they gave us a lot of lettuce to wrap with - not skimpy.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
