The authentic flavors of Mexico are served on Highway 59 in Mandeville. Unlike mass market chain restaurants, each ingredient of every dish first stands alone (from fresh cilantro to onion to queso) to contribute to the full flavor profile of the finished dish. The chile rellenos (see pic) are generously sized. Explore the a la carte choices for a great menu sampling with economy in mind. Try their top shelf "La Mejor" supreme margarita. Service by Diana was warm and attentive even as the dining room got busier. This Mandeville Mexican cuisine is a standout. Muy Bueno!

One of the many south of the border restaurants on the North Shore. Most of the Mexican Restaurants on the North Shore have menu's that are almost identical but this one is a bit different. For instance I have never seen Menudo on any menu over here. This place has it. Food here is really good - we usually get the Fajita's with quesso dip as an appetizer. The Margarita's here are strong and be forewarned the Large Margarita is huge . . . . two people could share this. Service has always been good. No complaints.

5 star service! 5 star food! I had the best tortilla chicken soup, Barbacoa tacos, and chili con carne burrito. I will be back for the menudo and the sangria!

I really like this place. The food is wonderful and the staff are friendly. On our most recent trip we started with the excellent chorisoqueso. Chorizo sausage with cheese is an excellent way to start any Mexican meal. The chorizo is spicy, but not overly so. For an entree we ordered the original special plate and the Camarones a la Diabla. The la Diablo consists of shrimp with a very spicy sauce and sauteed onions and peppers. This may be my new favorite dish. The shrimp were very spicy and perfectly cooked. Do not order this dish unless you can handle spicy food. They finally have their liquor license so you can order a margarita or beer. I was told the margaritas were very good and I enjoyed my Negra Modelo. This restaurant isn't fancy, but it is very good. If you want real Mexican food at a great price, give this place a try. Note: If you sit in the back room and have children, have them face away from the TV. It is tuned to univision and there are occasionally scantily clad women on the screen.

Nice outdoor deck with shade. Wasn't too busy on a Sunday at lunch. Service good. Food very authentic. Only complaint was I didn't care for the margarita.

Have loved it every time we have been there. Great food. Friendly service. They get to know you. Very very good food. Salsa Verde very hot but perfect as an addition to anything you order.

Went last night with the boyfriend and loved it. Quick service even though they were slammed, great food, and very nice people. We also had margaritas that were pretty good. He had carne asada and I got a burrito. We shared guac and queso as usual. Worth a visit in Mandeville!

Just ate there and the food was passable. Nothing spectacular but again not horrible. My complaint is the check. It was $30.48. When the waitress brought the change, she brought $9. I'm not sure why you would not bring 52¢ to the table. It made me leave only $5 tip. Overall a only passsable experience.

LOVE this place! Have been here 3 times and always impressed. Impressed by politeness of service, promptness, and great Mexican food. It's a very nice atmosphere with outside seating on the patio, which is hard to come by in Mandeville. Diana was our server and she was nice and accommodating. It's a go-to for sure;)

Finally I have found AUTHENTIC mexican food in Louisiana. It has been a long and hard road from craving mexican food for the past year. I am orginally from California and have lived in Texas and this hands down is right there with them. From the tortillas to the salsa I am pleased! I come here once and week, but somebody who loves Mexican food like me would do the same. I drive from Slidell and will sit in traffic. Soooo happy. I have my tacos right now and going to shove them in my face. Tata

Not a bad burrito , but the beans are plane, verry nasty Definitely need to update the trays . Almost ruined all my food on the way home . Why were thy talking parish behind my back , but all talk perfect English

What seems to be the most authentic Mexican food I have had. Chicken chille relleno was the best I have had. Tortilla for my gordita was wonderfully fresh. Had lots to bring home for a second meal. So glad we stopped here, as Yelp says it was closed. They are open 7 days a week. Try them! You won't be disappointed.

The best authentic Mexican restaurant in Louisiana that I have tried so far. The food is really really good and the people working there are really nice and attentive. Highly recommend this place, if you are adventurous try the lengua taco, you will not be disappointed.

I have been here quite a few times and have always loved it! The food is amazing and my kids (who are picky eaters) even love it! From the cerviche to the chicken strips for the kids I have yet to find anything not delicious at this place!

I took the S/O here last night to check it out. We went early so we could be home to see LSU get stomped by Bama :-( The place was quite with not too many patrons. A couple of Latin workers so that was a good sign. Décor was pretty much authentic. I've done some travel in México, Central and South America...so it was what you'd expect. Service was fast, as soon as we had gotten our drinks the appetizer (chorizo dip) was out. I had the cheese enchilada's rancheros with steak and the S/O had the Enchiladas Del Maizal. With black beans instead of the refried beans. The meal wasn't bad. Just ordinary, almost what you could make at home. For examples...the chorizo dip. I can swear it's Johnsonville's chorizo, with some taco seasoning and some queso. I mean it was good...just not really authentic. I will start to make it at home...but I won't go out to pay $9 for it now though. The entrées didn't get much better. My enchiladas were just sparse cheese filled flour fajitas with some not too good mole on top. The steak was good though. The refried beans tasted like canned old El Paso beans. Same with the S/O's black beans...they tasted like canned beans. She didn't have the heart to complain, but she didn't even finish her second beef Del Maizal. It was small and she's Cuban, if that doesn't say enough by itself I don't know what else can :-) On the whole not a bad place to eat. I guess if you don't know Latin food you will probably be happy...But for me... I will pay $40 for 2 people somewhere else.

Love this spot!! Fresh, delicious, AUTHENTIC food!! My bf have been a few times and we usually just get tacos...they have a pork that's been marinated with pineapple, beef tongue, chicken, chorizo, steak, etc. I like to go on Wednesdays because it's 2-for-1 margarita night!! Don't miss this place. Fantastic food and phenomenal customer service!!

Best Mexican food I've had outside of California (home) or Mexico. I had the Camarones a La Diabla and the lady had the pork tomales. Shrimp were big and perfectly cooked. Tomales were in a rich, complex molé sauce, in my opinion one of the most refined, difficult flavors to perfect. Margaritas were good and reasonably strong, but nothing to write home about. Will be back to try more!

We had the pleasure today of eating, again, at Taqueria la Noria. This is a small, family owned Mexican restaurant where genuine and homemade Mexican food is served. We, regularly, eat at Mexican restaurants and this one is the absolute best on the northshore. The margaritas are delicious and smooth. Today we enjoyed the Entomatadas Jalisco ( you can't find them at other restaurants). Similar to enchiladas, however these are topped with a light tomato sauce, onions and Oxcaca crumbled cheese.....SCRUMPTIOUS. The other dish was tamales, which were stuffed with pulled pork. Again, there must be a Mexican grandma in the kitchen rendering these delightful treats. Today we sat outside on the deck and enjoyed the beautiful spring weather. Decorations were festive as the staff prepared for a Cinco de Mayo party beginning at 6pm, with musicians and singers. We're thinking of going back tonight for the festivities. The service is unfailingly warm and welcoming. The staff is always smiling and very friendly. When you finish and leave this fantastic jewel...you'll be smiling too !!!

Taqueira La Noria is by far the best mexican food I've ever had! We will defiantly be driving from the south shore just to eat here! Good chips and salsa that was delicious and spicy starts the meal. We also ordered the cheese in the chili con queso which had a great heated flavor. The black beans come in a cheesey jucy soup that you fish them out of with a spoon. Everything was freshly prepared. The enchiladas were obviously made to order with white meat chicken that's flavor is surprisingly balanced and full! The ground beef was great! It is defiantly authentic, as the only other Mexican I've had that comes close was home cooked by a Mexican friend. We live in on the south shore and will defiantly make the trip across the lake just to eat here ! The restaurant is not expensive given the fantastic quality of the meal. Its not taco bell cheap, but, if you expect it to be, you are an idiot. If you are in the area, stop in. You will come back time and time again!

I'd really like to give this one 3.5 stars. My wife and I were passing through Mandeville and we followed the good yelp reviews to this neat little taqueria. First off, the place itself was quite nice (with clean restrooms that were very un-taqueria-like). We ordered the chicken entomatadas (similar to enchiladas) and flautas (similar to rolled tacos), and both dinners were great. The shredded chicken, which all too often can be dry, was perfectly-cooked, moist, and flavorful. Also, the service was very quick and friendly. All in all, this seemed like a great little place with some tasty authentic menu items done right. And it's so clean that you can feel good about bringing any friends who might be scared off by run-of-the-mill taquerias.

If you want the real deal on Mexican food this is the place to go. No question, hands down, this is it. Started off our meal with their Choriqueso. Chorizo made there with some melted cheese and nice warm, hand made tortillas. Sooo good and no skimping on the Chorizo. For the meal we got several items and shared. Barbacoa, Lengua and Carnits tacos. All were excellent. My first time trying Barbacoa and Lengua and my gosh, I'm a fan. Service was great and very attentive. Prices were great for a meal that filled our bellies for sure. Best Mexican around. Oh and lets not forget they do have Menudo. Was not quite that adventurous to give it a try. Maybe next time :)

I brought my boyfriend (whom is rather picky; he works at a very upscale restaraunt that is highly respected) here with high hopes, because the food is absolutely delicious and authentic. He was not disappointed! He loves the place. He got the lenga tacos (cows tounge!! eek!) and made me try one- I took one bite and it was incredibly good! I wasn't really surprised either.. haha (: I got the maya soup and it had to be made with *the* best chicken stock I've ever tasted. It was so clean and fresh but still hearty. These people know what they're doing. My boyfriend also ordered some sopas and taco etc etc that were, for lack of a better word, soOoOo good!! (; As far as service, atmosphere and cleanliness... There's no problem. Our waiter was extremely polite and had a huge smile on his face (I really dislike it when waiters don't smile..strange, I know) and was very attentive without being overbearing.

This place is owned by three mexican brothers and they are all extremely nice. They are always there and they cook and serve. Whoever says this is not authentic food has no clue. This is not Mexico City and if their food was like that no one would eat it. I travel all across Texas and California and the border areas and this food is just as good as any. It is better than anything else on the Northshore. There are no other places quite like this in the area. The tacos and the different dishes are just a bit more interesting and delicious. Mexican stuff like we know it here is not my cup of tea. In Mexico, I have had some amazing food. Those people know how to eat. But I try to keep an open mind, and when you go to the border a lot, you either eat Mex or BBQ or steak. I have had my share and fill of them all. And sometimes my family push me to go to this place and I refuse, not only because it is not my thing but because I eat too much of it on top of that. Maybe that is why I do not give this place 5 stars. But they probably deserve it. You can not go to any place where people are nicer and have better food....fresh and prepared with care. I remember how they struggled at first. The place was always empty. We would go there just to give them our business. I knew they would make it. I am glad they hung in there.

Nothing fancy just real Mexican food. One of the few places you can order Cow Tongue Tacos.

  • Patrick B.

Nothing special. I don't understand other reviews praising this restaurant. The food is inconsistent and looks like it is thrown on a plate. Several other Mexican restaurants in the area have better dishes and presentation. Food is edible for a quick lunch and better than a Taco Bell, but would expect more for the menu prices.

Great authentic Mexican restaurant. Has kind of a "hole-in-the-wall" feel, which I like. Queso is spiced really well, and their dinner plates are a great deal.

This is the ONLY place that you can get real mexican food on the Northshore! They make EVERYTHING from scratch. They have barbacoa, tortas and you have to ask for the salsa verde, but its amazing! Even the lengua tacos are delicious. Try ordering off the a la carte menu to give yourself a real mexican food experience and make your own mix and match plate! I usually bring a few people and we all share everything!

Excellent food! I had a sope (with pork) and a chimichanga (with chicken). Both were excellent. If you like spicy, you must try the salsa verde--respectably hot! The atmosphere is good (not fancy) but the food more than makes up for it! You have to give this place a try--you will not be disappointed!

Service - very good Food - very good (4 different dishes) Atmosphere - only bad thing was it was very loud and tons of kids screaming when I was there while the parents sipped their drinks and ignored all the looks. Bathrooms: clean, only bad thing is they did try to seat me at a table 3 inches from the bathroom door. Not good. The food is good though!

I heard this was super authentic Mexican so we stopped in after a Saturday of shopping. They had a really nice, spicy verde sauce for my burrito, but there's wasn't anything super authentic we tried (I grew up around Mexican households in Florida). Their cheeses were the big let down. Not that it wasn't delicious, just nothing really special and we dropped almost $50 (with tip) on lunch with no alcoholic drinks. there are places nearby that are just as good and cheaper.

I've been here many times. The food is extremely fresh and aromatic, the staff friendly, and the establishment is clean.

Best mexican food on the Northshore hands down. Try the tongue tacos. Staff is very friendly.

Loved the food. Noticed that many of the patrons were Spanish speakers. Good sign that the food will be great!

Pretty good, but would have been better with a draft Abita or Coors.

This is the BEST TEX-MEX on the Northshore! Love the fresh salsa and the fajitas! The owners are great people too! Good family atmosphere!

This place is great. Four of us ate and everybody liked everything they had. The place itself is kind of strange with part being a trailer, part a deck and part an enclosed porch, that being said, the food was outstanding!!!

Excellent the only place I will ever go for true authentic Mexican food, besides El Gato Negro in the city...homemade tortillas...!!! Yum

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
