Food was good! I had a shrimp flauta and a beef flauta. Both were stuffed with cheese. They were made with flour tortillas which I really liked. They were served with sour cream an guacamole. The guacamole was great. They were the best flautas I think I've ever had. My husband got the numero uno combo and he enjoyed it. We also had the queso which was good. Margarita was good too! Excited to have this place so close to the house!

I am so glad to have found this restaurant! I had the "número dos" and split it with my son. Two tacos (grilled chicken and sliced beef) a shrimp flauta, a bean burrito (small) and beans & rice. The chicken was juicy and tasty, the beef was delicious, and the portions were generous. My husband had a burrito with tongue. Don't dismiss tongue just because it's "weird". It was awesome! I will definitely be back. My 9 year old asked if we could come back every week! We had 2 margaritas, enough food for our family of 5 and we walked out for under $50 at dinner.

Way too expensive for the flavor. We ordered steak fajitas and they came out lukewarm and bland. We complained and they took them back and we ordered beef nachos instead. They were not what you normally get at other Mexican restaurants either. The beef was in some sort of "chili sauce"??

Went to dinner at 7pm. It is now 2:25 am and I am awake with what feels like a brick in my stomach. This was the worst meal I've had in a long time. It was like aMexican TV dinner. I don't think there was anything fresh on my plate. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like Ebola

Food was ok, server was very friendly; however she had to work the whole restaurant by herself. Ambiance was not inviting and had little to no mexican identity. It was like the old restaurant moved out and a new mexican place started without any idea of concept. Due to lack of ambiance I would not come back for a lunch date with my wife, maybe for a quick bite without company. Some work to do in order to survive in the Mandeville area where several other mexican restaurants do offer better experience and like or better food.

Today was our first and last experience with this restaurant. I took my family for , what I thought, would be a nice quick lunch that turned into an hour and a half drawn out mess. The food was just ok and the chips were only served with appetizers - No chips and salsa when you're seated. The service was terrible bc there were only 2 waiters ( our waiter was very nice, but overwhelmed) and one cook for the entire restaurant. All of this is enough to not want to go back, but at the end of our meal after we had already paid, the manager came up to our table and threw a new bill on the table and said very rudely, "your first bill didn't have your soft drinks on it!" Like it was our fault- we didn't realize that anything had been left off of an $84.00 bill (with 2 kids meals and no alcohol) for an lunch. We will not be back.

This place stinks. I've been here two or three times and found the restaurant to be overpriced, food mediocre and service terrible. Back in the day I really liked the location on Magazine St. and was excited to see them opening up in the neighborhood. Unfortunately the Mandeville Taqueria Corona is a big disappointment. It's one thing for the food to be average but the hostility and attitude of the waitstaff and high prices make this a place we avoid. With the New Mexican place Mi Mamacitas being just down the street and Taqueria La Noria on 59 nearby, we can get our south of the border fix. I haven't been to the original Magazine St. location but have gone to lunch at the Metairie and it is plagued with bad service too though it is usually packed at lunch with only one or two waitresses. The Mandeville locations doesn't have that excuse, the restaurant is half empty and the waitress act like they are bothered that you set foot in the place. I'd rather even go to Georges with their AmeriMex style food. At least its fun and the staff is courteous.

Let's be clear I give it 5 stars based on Louisiana standards. I'm Hispanic and grew up on the boarder in Texas. I've tried all the Mexican places around here and though they can't compare to back home I found this place to be the best on the North Shore. They've changed up since opening and I must say it's for the better. I'll be back for margaritas!!

I won't ever go back here. The food wasn't anything great and it was really expensive for what you get. It definitely didn't taste like authentic mexican food. Also the service was terrible. We never got drink refills and no one ever came to check on us. There are sooo many better mexican restaurants but while eating here I was wishing I was at Taco Bell instead. And no free chips and salsa. What kind of mexican restaurant doesn't bring you chips and salsa right away? And it was not cheap according to the menu.

Ate there yesterday with friends. Had the Numero Dos - chicken taco, beef flauta, chicken burrito, beans, rice. Very good. Well seasoned. Be careful of the three sauces! Hot! Hotter! & Yikes! Nice prices for lunch specials. Staff was friendly & attentive. *** Only odd thing was no free chips & salsa. I understand that's normal for them. Seems weird. I mean paying for chips & salsa? *** UPDATE!!! I was informed by Michael H. (he works there) chips & salsa are free if you ASK. Good to know! Thanks!

Ate here a couple on months ago. The only good thing were the margaritas. Overpriced for the portions and overwhelmed with black beans, how does this even qualify for Mexican?

If I had a choice... I would give a half of a star. Service a bit rushed and unwelcoming despite the restaurant being less than half full. Hostess more involved in her textbooks than guests. As others have commented ... No complimentary chips... That would have been a plus. Quesadilla was soggy and bland... Guacamole and sour cream both seemed watery ... California burrito with fish was ... "Microwaved dog food"... Food poor... Atmosphere poor... Service poor. Won't be going back... Other mexican restaurants in the area much much better!

Probably deserves less than 3 stars, but the shrimp flauta saved the day. Salsa is more reminiscent of Italian sauce, guacamole is oily, not sure why? This place needs serious attention or it will not be on the Northshore much longer.

Went last night. Charged for chips and salsa and they weren't even good. Overpriced, my husband thought fish tacos were ok. Won't go back and plan to warn friends. We were looking forward to it. Dinner for 4 with a few beers $100.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
