Despite the uninviting exterior, this place has a pretty good shrimp poboy. The shrimp were seasoned just right, with a good batter and not overcooked. The bread was not too hard, (tough poboy bread being one of my peaves). The seafood gumbo was okay, if you don't mind eating out of a plastic bowl with a plastic spoon. It had plenty of seafood, and was seasoned okay, but the broth was light. I prefer a darker roux. It comes with a decent potato salad in a styrofoam cup and a piece of bread wrapped in foil. It's that kind of place. For the amount of food you get, I'd say it was a good value. We had a, 8" shrimp poboy, fries, a seafood gumbo (with potato salad), and two sodas for $22. I hear it closes at 7pm. We ate there for dinner on a Wednesday just after 6pm. It gets four stars because I suspect it's the best thing in the area. I wouldn't drive out to Lutcher to eat here, but it's a good option if you happen to be in town.

Place desperately needs a renovation or just major cleaning. I'd be willing to give a nice review if they would clean up the joint.

I won't go back. Im a native cajun. I tried a whole wheat chicken wrap bc im on a good food kick and the chicken was dry. However i know chicken breast is hard to cook. So I went back the next day and tried shrimp on wheat. The sandwich was small and they used precooked shrimp. That's a nono in cajun cooking. I would never tell someone not to go there bc I don't believe in bashing someone's livelihood but I was not pleased with the food.

Stopped here on way to plantations. Great place for lunch! I had the shrimp po'boy and hubby had the Cajun burger. Both were quick and good!

Sandwich World! Like no other. The menu is endless with poboys, salads, gumbos, and daily lunch plates. The hours are kind of limited, but that's what you get in small town Louisiana. It closes after lunch on weekdays and pretty early on Saturday too. My husband says the onion rings are the best ever. LOTS of batter. The poboys are overflowing and done right. Don't miss it if you find yourself in Gramercy, La.

Sandwich World is a rather obscure eatery in the Gramercy/Lutcher/Paulina area mainly because of its "rundown facade" and bizarre hours, as it is not open for dinner (unless you eat before 7 PM) but is open for breakfast. I have been there twice and would like to go more often if the hours were more cooperative. The exterior is not much to look at, as it does resemble a run-down fast food chain, but looks can be very deceiving, as the food is excellent! Sometimes you cannot judge a book by its cover or a restaurant by its exterior.
