Terrible waiter, terrible food, terrible experience A worker sweeper dust into our food. Dust like right into our food and there was no refund, no I'm sorry, no I get some new food just a 20$ gift card to the restaurant. Did he expect me to just carry on eating my dust filled enchiladas. A 20$ gift card, what about my 35$ worth of food that you dusted onto?? I'm no Math teacher but 20 dollars does not cover 35 dollars I just loss!! Never going back to that horrible disgusting joke of a resturant!!

I like this place. NOT your cut-n-paste Mexican restaurant. Simple menu with lots of flavors. And hand cut fresh vegetables instead of refried beans! Awesome! The salsa is fresh and mildly spicy. Chips are fresh. Good service. This is like my 4th or 5th time here. Try to stop by when I'm in the area.

Best most authentic Mexican food in the area. Though it's a franchise, I can say that the good is consistently good. Refried beans, chorizo, queso & the like. The mixed drinks are amazing. Heck, sometimes I go just for the drinks. Tucked off in a strip mall in Laplace, I easily missed. But the locals in the area are quite familiar, at night there's normally a packed house when I pass.

Waiters often have a slightly negative attitude which can make your visit and meal here quite uncomfortable. It can be a little quiet in this place, bring your headphones lol. Otherwise the awkward feeling will kick in... Good food--if you order the right thing or happen to catch them on a good day... I have been coming here every so often for the past few years, it seems to be same thing every time. Only once have I been and they had what looked like to be a new manager, I would've given it 3 stars but my next visit was back to the same ole' same ole'. The only reason why I come here anymore is when I crave for their salsa--being a #1 Mexican cuisine fan for since before I can remember, they have the best salsa in town. Salsa is a plus. Everything else honestly goes down hill from there. :( La Carreta's on Government St. In Baton Rouge, LA is way better than this one. Same salsa too;)

Great food and atmosphere. The margaritas are awsome. This is a great place to meet up with friends to have some good Mexican food... I love this place :-)

Disappointed. Food and waitress was prompt and pleasant. The music was blaring dance club music so loud at 7:30 we simply wanted to get our food and bolt. There were several ball teams with kids running rampantly. Had I been management I would have politely told those tables to control their kids. Will never return. Unfortunately I had to give one star to post otherwise there not have been a star.

My family likes this place. The restaurant is super clean and the service is pretty good. The ceviche is really good. If your out in the middle of nowhere in Laplace give it a try.

Music so loud you can't have a conversation. Food so mediocre I didn't finish it. No need to come back...

I have been eating here for years - I've always loved the food! Fortunately the food is still great. Unfortunately, the service lately is not. The waiters are usually very friendly, but management is not so much. There is a manager in the dining room who is there just about every day. Each time he helps the waiters out, covers for them, etc... he has been very rude towards me. He acts like your wasting his time with questions, he always appears inconvenienced by questions, and is generally sarcastic and rude in his manner towards customers. I have experienced this guy's service a handful of times in the last few months and I'm sick of it! La Carreta, your food is great, but its time for the guy in the white shirt to straighten up. Until then, I will be going elsewhere for Mexican cuisine.

Great place for Mexican! It was very much needed in LaPlace, as there aren't many options in this small town. My favorite dish is Alambres de Cameron. It's almost like shrimp fajitas with lots of onions and cheese melted over the top. I'm not a huge fan of the bean soup that comes with it, but they will let me sub it out with the enchilada soup. It's definitely with a try! Our family loves the Queso! My son says they have the best Chicken Nachos he has had any where. My daughter ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi, it was tasty, very well seasoned. Margarita's were excellent! The restaurant is always VERY loud. The waitress was nice enough to turn the music down a notch for us! It is very difficult to hold conversations with friends.

A pretty decent place tucked away in La Place. Pretty standard tex-mex food with reasonable prices. The ceviche was surprisingly flavorful and goes well with the fried tortilla chips (ask your server for some). The queso is really thick so don't let it cool down.

Clean and nice atmosphere. The queso sauce rocks. Kids nachos not so much. Nice place to get a bite.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
