This family owned Chinese joint has been here for a long time. The place is clean, the small buffet has some pretty good items on it, and all are hot and fresh. You should not go here if you're expecting a giant food trough like Buffet City, as the buffet only has a small fraction of the items. However, for a quick and easy Chinese lunch, Magic Wok is pretty good.

The food is sort of bland. That would warrant a three-star rating. However, the customer service is outstanding. The staff is so nice and friendly that they make the trip worth it every time.

Very friendly and very fresh. The food is much better when ordered off of the menu. Lafayette does not have many quality options in terms of Chinese but this is a good one.

This was my first visit to Magic Wok as I continue in my search for delicious Chinese food in Lafayette. I ordered a spring roll, a cup of wonton soup (I had read another review praising it), and for my entree I chose Mongolian Beef. When I unpacked the dinner at home, I quickly discovered my entree had been switched to what appears and tastes like Beef with Chinese vegetables, not what I ordered. The wonton soup was just okay, and the egg rolls were over cooked. Looks like my search must continue.

I really hate giving bad reviews and I'm not a picky person but the food wasn't very tasteful, however the customer service was great when ordering my food over the phone the young lady was excellent at meeting my needs and that made the not so tasty food worth it !

Skip the buffet. Ask Ya Ping to make you something. Fresh green beans with chicken. Dumplings . Hot and sour soup is the best in Louisiana, ask for a bowl mot a cup . Chinese spegetti With ground chicken is fab.

Great surprise to find a hole in the wall that serves freshly prepared and tasty chinese food ! Friendly server who I think was the owner.

Chinese fast food... Yes but made with love and flavor. Rumor has it that the proprietor prepared food for the higher ups in china before moving to the US to give his son the opportunity to excel at UL comp science... Maybe a funny detail but I think it's significant. And if you are ever daring enough to ask them for some specialty authentic Chinese cuisine, you'll see why!

Great, solid Chinese restaurant. Best garlic beans, sesame chicken, and wonton soup in town, IMO. The owners are a delight, always love talking to them when I pick up, highly recommend.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
