Ordered my food 'To-Go' / The salsa was decent but the Queso was outstanding! I had the chicken chimichunga and it was fabulous. The food is great quality and you can taste it! The prices are steep for my liking so I would only return for a special occasion.

Fajitas and service were great. The booths are awesome for couples and with the atmosphere led to a great experience. The home made flour tortillas and corn chips were awesome.

The food here is always good, never had problems with service. My favorites are the chicken fajitas and the chicken fajita burritos, the chipotle cream sauce is awesome

My husband and I eat at all the local restaurants and try to give every place a fair chance. With that said I ordered seafood enchiladas. What came out can only be referred to as enchilada soup minus most if not all of the seafood. Very soggy and almost unrecognizable enchilada. When the GM came to talk to me it was as to try to convince me I was crazy. He stated all enchiladas are really soggy and if I had eaten more in my lifetime I would be aware of this. Maybe he should go visit any Agave restaurant in the local area so they can teach him how to prepare a real seafood enchilada and brush up on his people skills!

This is my favorite place!!! The seafood chimichanga is delicious and corn and crab bisque is amazing! I love their green tomato dip!

My fajitas were in an inch of oil. It was disgusting. Had it not been, it might not have been bad but I couldn't taste anything but oil. The "homemade" tortillas weren't very good either. I doubt I'd go back. How can you mess up fajitas?!

This place strikes me as a Chili's, but with even more southwest and seafood flare. It's not as generic feeling as Chili's though, which is definitely a good thing. I had their corn and crab poblano soup and the fiesta salad with jalapeno ranch on the side for $10.99. The soup had lots of chunks of crab...oh yes. The salad was pretty good too...for a salad with lots of veggies. Not very exciting, but not bad. I would eat here again, but honestly, when I'm in Lafayette, I'd rather eat cajun food or plain and simple seafood.

Don't waste your money or your health! The veggie fajitas were cooked in so much butter that it was completely disgusting! And they were wayyyyy overpriced! Don't even go to drink because if you want a margarita that is top notch, go to La Fonda! Not the quality I expect for my hard earned money and my precious health!

I have to say that my confidence in the wait staff at Coyote Blues has been completely restored. My wife and I returned to dine in and hopefully speak to the manager about the previous incident. I was informed that the manager to whom I was directed was only present in the mornings. Although I had hoped to speak with someone, we decided to dine in regardless. I was seated with Jerik, who has totally redeemed my opinion of the wait staff at Coyote Blues. He was attentive, courteous, prompt, and cordial. I cannot say enough good things about the dining experience we had with Jerik. It's refreshing to see wait staff members who truly work hard and pay attention to the needs of patrons. Jerik, thank you for the service. We will be back to request you every time.

The food is good. I really go for the drinks. But I've been there at least 10 times and my fiesta potatoes have consistently been cold. The service leaves a little to be desired and it's really dark in the restaurant! It's was 3:00 in the afternoon on my last visit and I could barely see across the table!

I was told to try the corn grits at this restaurant, but seeing as it was a side, went for other options, too. The grits are super flavorful and yum! I got the crawfish and shrimp enchiladas, I think, and it was actually quite delicious. My friend got the smoked duck quesadillas, which tasted more like smoked beef (I'm guessing because of the smoked part). The dipping sauce for the quesadillas is very sweet (from raspberries and blueberries). Service was good, too. Chips and salsa come with the table -- the salsa was good but the chips were a bit odd in texture.

Our second time here was in April of 2013. The first visit about 6 months earlier, was somewhat chaotic. They may have been short-staffed, but the order was wrong, and took almost 30 mins to get to us. The second visit well... was no better. Again the order was messed, and they ran out of filet! And didn't tell us until 20 mins so after we ordered! On a Saturday night, prom time, how could they not be prepared? I ordered the crab stuffed enchiladas and they were ok, but damper on the evening after the ordering fiasco! Not sure the third time will be a charm, so we will skip it!

Coyote Blues is now rated the #1 Mexican Resturant in Acadiana. timesofacadiana.com/apps… LOVE: 2 dollar sangrias, crawfish enchiladas, bread pudding, the variety of seafood dishes LIKE: Shrimp tacos DON'T LIKE: poor vegetarian options, yuck guac. Even with all that non-love, the 3 I mentioned are so super delicious, I'll still rate this place a 4. The only thing I find overpriced is the tuna steak ($19.99) but I hear that's about the going rate in South Louisiana.

It's a chain; keeping that in mind- the food is not too bad. You get what you pay for with the $1 margaritas- I have seen more alcohol in cough medicine.

My wife and I came to Lafayette to spend the 4th of July with some friends, and to celebrate our country's independence, we decided to go eat Mexican food (makes sense) at a place relatively close to their house. We had noticed Coyote Blues on the drive in and kept it in mind for later. When we dined in the restaurant, we found it to be a great experience. The food was excellent and original. The poblano cheese corn grits were amazing and fantastically cheap for only $2.99. I ordered them as an appetizer, before receiving my meal, and they were dee-lish! My wife and I, for lunch, each ordered the corn, crab and poblano soup with beef tacos for only $10.99. The soup was incredible! And the tacos could stand toe to toe with any other good taco in the world. It was all just interesting food, in a clean, cool environment with really good service. From what I understand, this is a Lafayette chain, but it needs to make its' way up to Shreveport ASAP! We would love it up here!

Good Mexican restaurant, nothing really special, though. Get the fajitas, everything else isn't too good; but still a WAY BETTER Mexican restaurant than the Filling Station!!!

Really good quality fajitas. Excellent actually. I love the chicken. They cook it with just the perfect amount of seasoning. All the ingredients they use here are fresh. Cheap drink specials on occasion. Once we sat at the bar and the service was a bit slow. But, I have had good service in the restaurant. Thus far, my favorite Mexican in Lafayette.

Coyote Blues is about as mediocre as mexican food gets. It's not "bad". But its right across from Tampico's and Tampico's blows it out of the water in my humble opinion.

I never expected the best fajitas I've ever eaten to be in Lafayette, LA but they are. I grew up in Texas eating Tex Mex and I've never had fajitas like here. Also, get the nachos but ask for flour tortilla chips instead of corn...incredibly good! I will say it's been about 3 years since I've eaten here since I don't live in LA anymore but unless it's drastically changed, it's worth the trip.

One of the better Mexican restaurants in Lafayette, there's a lot of interesting things to try here. The corn, crab and pablano soup is great. During the colder months I am a fan of the fried oyster nachos. The rest of the standard Mexican fare is great and well portioned. The service is wonderful.

Very good, if you order the right food. Average prices. Try the queso dip; it's almost meal sized for less than $5.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
