Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. Almost every burger is rich in sodium content and it is highly recommended to keep your burger cravings in control while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

If you are a diabetic, you should also avoid Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich and Whataburger Patty Melt at Whataburger. Chicken Fajita Taco is also off-limits for diabetics. Garlic butter fries!! Their burgers are quite yummy! It's a lot so be ready for a full stomach but totally worth it. I got the burgers moth burger with an egg and it was pretty good. Overall it's a clean place, kind of cold in there lol but it was worth it. Price wasn't too bad if you're looking for a specialty burger.

One of the only times I've had legitimately rude service. We'd asked our server (Abigail) if there were any specials, she told us no. (even though it was 2for1 burgers and draft beer) When asked about that special, she rolled her eyes and asked what we wanted to drink. She brought us the wrong beer - I ordered a cream stout and received Canebrake - a local beer I am quite familiar with. She didn't bother stopping by till we were almost done with our meal, so there was no point in trying to get the beer I had initially ordered. She brought us the check, and slid it on the table without asking if we wanted another round or dessert. Working in the service industry myself, it was a cringeworthy experience. Host/food runners nice, Food decent. Thanks, Abigail. You ruined our experience. Will never return.

This is my boyfriends favorite burger joint in town, but not mine. Cheese fries are great but could use a little more toppings..the fries at the bottom get lonely. Not my favorite place because I think the burgers are very sloppy! They taste great but I always get sick of putting it back together to take a bite! Got a Smith Salad with BBQ Ranch for the first time today and it was great! But something about it was very spicy. They have great ice/drinks! Will be back to satisfy my boyfriend. ;)

1st time here. I was very pleased with the service. Filet burger highly recommended. Great job to my waitress Suann M. The atmosphere was soothing. The staff was welcoming.

Nice location, and atmosphere. Burgers and fries are okay.. way over priced for burgers and fries, their qualities are more "gourmet", it tastes better than fast food burgers, but nothing to rave about. Props for supporting Louisiana's Abita beer.

Frequent this place often. Started out with a huge bang when it first opened and the hospitality was great! I've noticed some changes over the past year and I'm hoping the change doesn't make this place take a turn for the worst. The burgers and fries are still very good, in my opinion. I really enjoy them! I hope that the owners and managers don't take things for granted and get too conceited! You have a very good product so make sure you don't try to "shortcut" too many things, if you know what I mean. Last time there was about a week ago and our waitress was beyond impressive. Only problem is I cannot remember her name. I will seek her out the next time there. Very alert, attentive, and extremely professional. To the mangers of Burgersmith: make SURE you stay on top of your game or another burger place will start taking your business. Not necessarily my business, but other folks may be a LOT more pickier than me.....

Service was ok, at best. I've been more than a few times now, and it seems like the servers are nice enough, but their memory is lacking. Dr. Pepper is not spelled the same as Coke, they only share one E!!! Other than that, the food is good, burger options are nice and flavorful. You can dress it up anyway you want, for a few quarters a change/add, and the fries are always a good complement to the ordeal of putting down that well cooked beef. I'm still going to go, no matter how many times I've got to train the staff!

  • Kaye R.

I could wax eloquent about how bad the burgers here are--but bad is bad and bad generally needs no gilding. The burger patty had the life, juice, and taste cooked out of it, the bun was cold, the bacon strips on it were razor-thin and grilled to burn-ness. For a burger to have every component overcooked and still arrive at the table cold is truly an accomplishment, elevating the experience from mediocre to, well, bad. The fries, while appearing to be freshly cut and cooked, were cooked somewhere beyond the limit, ending up as a hybrid drifting between french fry and potato chip. And they had no toothpicks for post-meal clean-up.

Excellent food! The burger was awesome and the fries had great seasoning and flavor. The waitress was the only downside. Rarely seen and not very informative. As an out of Townes who had never been to the business, I would have liked a little bit of a greeting or background. Not just a "here's the menu". All the other tables were offered desert and some of the ice cream looked delicious. Unfortunately, it was never mentioned to me. I was handed my check as soon as I finished my meal. Overall, delicious food and nice establishment. I'd recommend and definitely come back.

Usually go here several times a month. Nice place overall. I like the cheese fries, okra, and filet burger the best, and the topping options are pretty good. My wife likes the chicken salad lettuce wrap. They do call in/take out orders which is another plus. The only real negative I have is the beer selection is somewhat lacking, but they are mostly local beers which I like. Don't go here expecting a huge bar variety.

    (4)
  • Mike S.

Soooo disappointed. Great beer. Rude server who focused more on her phone than me. The "organic " burger was the consistency of a rubber dog toy and had no flavor. Seriously, Wendy's has a better burger. I couldn't finish half. Fries were good!

  • Andrew G.

I don't know... I am at between 3 and 4 stars for this pretty decent burger joint. First of all, I diss any review that talks about how their burgers are expensive. You get what you pay for, and the burgers at BSmith are pretty danged good.. so if they're good, then why bitch about the price, yes? Their fries were pretty sensational, their service was pretty good, and my only gripe is that my friend's burger came out cold... whats up with that.? I would eat here again,

  • Melissa H.

Not really impressed. There are so many burger places in Lafayette to choose from...Burgersmith needs to step up their game. I had the regular burger and my husband had the Angus. Both were so overcooked that you could not tell one from the other. The upside was the cheese fries, but that's pretty hard to mess up.

Me and my dad and my little brother waited for over 25 min waiting for a server to come to our table after we were sat. No one ever came but we had about 7 servers pass by our table and just look at us. And then had 3 servers pass multiple times just looking at us. I'm a server. Umm hello. Bells should of rang when we sat there with menus in front and no drinks. I will never recommend this place ever. The servers suck and the manger even passed us. Twice and never notice.

  • Jon A.

We arrived around noon, and were seated quickly. Service was attentive and polite. I had the burger with a fried egg and chili. The burger (grass fed organic) was tasty but a little on the dry side (slightly overcooked, in my opinion). I would try this spot again.

Will not be back. Okra nasty. Turkey burger and filet burger both nasty and fries were soggy. That was not a turkey burger I had

  • Deni S.

Burgers are good. Fries are amazing, and service is ok. We sit at the bar and the last time my husband and I went, the bartender was flirting with a bunch of guys sitting at the bar. She was nice though but not the best customer service. Oh, and this is one of the only places I've found Abita Light!

    (3)
  • Caitlin G.

Ordered the smith burger and it was to die for. Completely blown away by the freshness of the ingredients! Service was amazing and if you are hungry get the cheese fries! I will definitely be coming back and letting everyone know about this place! If you haven't been here and are craving a good burger you now know where to come in the Lafayette area! Good selection of beer too!

This place is in a GREAT location. Too bad the food is not so great. "A" location with a "D" grade food. Food cold, no flavor, slow with not much crowd. Next time in mood for a good Hot Dog I'll go to Fat Pats or Twins.

    (1)
  • Kate B.

I love burgers so was anxious to try them here. I was a little disappointed. Burger was definitely not perfect. It was average or even a bit below average. Service was good. However we were the only ones eating there at the time which was surprising. Seems like business isn't too good

    (3)
  • Ramin P.

What can I say? It's not horrible but is not by any definition of the word "the best" burger in town. I have eaten here about 5 times over the last couple of years and I have yet to find anything here outstanding. It is your basic average burger, not a bad burger but nothing memorable about it either. On this last trip I got the burger smith burger with cheese, and I paid $6.50 for it..., actually $7.05 with tax. I wouldn't say it was horribly over priced but for that money I could get a much better burger at Morvants or Fat Pats.

    (3)
  • Carla M.

I've been here twice. The first time I had a cheese burger - and really enjoyed it. The second time I had the sliders - why did I do that? I hate even saying the word slider, doesn't sound like the name of food. Anyway, the sliders were very dry and tasteless - easy to overcook because of their size. The reason for the 4th star - the fries are AWESOME!!! Garlic something...very crispy, hot, flavorful. Would come back for the fries. It's a little pricey for Lafayette, but I'm used to big city prices so it seemed reasonable for what you get.

  • Adam C.

Pretty good for my first visit. I had a Jr. burger with cheese. The patty was small and thick like a nugget, overlapped by a much larger bun. But the flavor was good and it was brought out very quickly. Had the fried okra along with it which were very good. Was kinda pricy, I think I ended up paying $.75 for barbecue sauce, $2.00 for fountain drink. So my tiny burger, okra, and soda were over $11. I'll definitely give it another shot to try another burger.

  • Chris C.

I'm not sure why we come back. Maybe it's the over priced mediocre food. Maybe it's the subpar counter service with their apathetic attitudes. Perhaps when they've been around for 50 years they can give the Judice family a run at the best burger in own. Right now I'd say that Ground Patti on Johnston Street is in the top two for best burger. They do have some of the best fries in town though. I like the garlic fries and I just learned that you can have cheese added to any fry order. If it's possible, that little addition makes them even better. Burgersmith is clean, is located with easy access and offers free wifi.

    (2)
  • J H.

Inconsistent at best. Had two quality visits when they had counter service. After they went to table side servers the quality definitely has taken a hit. Our last visit had our the wrong order given to us and then we received well overdone burgers. However, the fries are very good. For the price of the burgers, you should expect better service and quality. Will give them another shot, but it might be the last.

  • Brandon L.

Went in to find yet another thing in Lafayette covered in a "special sauce". The burgers were mediocre at best. If they were smithed, someone needs a new trade. There's nothing especially unique about this average bar-style burger. It's a little pricey, but that can be attributed to its boutique location. The fries were soggy and over zealously seasoned. The most interesting part of the whole experience was that a manager came to our table to check on us and make a recommendation for the next time. He recommended the Cajun Bratwurst , which is NOT bratwurst, or for that matter a BURGER! Bottom Line: It's over priced for the class of burger and there are many other places not so far from here that have better ones.

  • Ashlee B.

Delicious, juicy, filling, good times burger. I added the garlic fries with the Natural burger dressed up with the cajun seasoning, grilled onions, cheese and the regular burger toppings. The thing I really enjoyed was that even until the last bite, every topping was there, even the meat. I loved this burger, I've been told to try it with an egg the next time. Which I will do, cause I'm in love with these burgers.:-)

    (4)
  • Robert T.

Possibly the best burger I have ever eaten. The patty is some sort of fancy high quality beef that you don't usually get in a hamburger. The tomatoes taste like they came from a local farmer's market. The onions are sweetly carmelized. Even the pickles were gourmet. This is a quality burger made from quality ingredients.

    (5)
  • Trace R.

Had the filet burger, which was very tasty with the Smith sauce. One of the best burgers I've had in awhile. Would definitely recommend. I see where some others complain about the price. It does cost more, but you get what you pay for. This wouldn't be the place to take all the kids and pay the high price for each burger, but if you're really craving a good burger and its just you and the wife, it could be a good place.

    (4)
  • Paul C.

My experience with Burgersmith is limited, but I can't recommend them highly. The burgers are good, but not great. They have Louisiana beers, which I appreciate, but not a great selection. The service is good, but, again, not great. So, if you want a good burger place, this is it. If you want a great burger place, you may need to look elsewhere.

    (3)
  • Laurin A.

Burgersmith should really be a 3.5 star review because they have some improvements to make, but come on... they definitely DON'T deserve a 1 star review! The burger was great and the garlic butter fries were very nice. I recommend the filet mignon burger.

    Yummo! Everything is fresh.

Burgers were ok but not great. The toasted buns were good. The fries were great (cajun). The price comes with the location and the quality of the meat.

frys were ok but kinda limp ... better burgers at whataburger .. and way over priced for a burger and frys..

The burger was good but nothing spectacular. The fries were different. I had the butter & garlic fries. A little over priced due to the location. I would eat there again.
