Another Broken Egg Cafe Menu

We stopped here for breakfast on my last day in Lafayette. I enjoyed the atmosphere, and thought the food was very good. I got "The Works" omelette, and appreciated that it wasn't full of grease or cheese. They have healthier options, including oatmeal and fresh fruit with yogurt. We were surprised that their beignets tasted so good with the honey marmalade dipping sauce. (We had beignets at Cafe du Monde earlier in the week, and though Another Broken Egg's weren't as good- they still tasted great). Another Broken Egg is in the River Ranch area. If you go anywhere in that area you should expect to pay more, because it's very clean and upscale.

Amazing crab cakes benedict! Ate here twice while visiting from California... Wish I could fly in just for breakfast! Very cute atmosphere and the service was very friendly. Definitely lived up to the "southern hospitality" for me!

We decided to stop here for breakfast. Staff was rather slow in taking our order and serving. Prices are very high just for eggs. The egg omelette with chorizo was cold even though it took them over 15 min to bring out. The coffee was good but $18 for breakfast is not!

So my mother was visiting me from Mississippi and she wanted breakfast ( as i am always up for a great breakfast fix ) I immediately agreed. We arrive and had to wait about 25 mins to be seated .. ok not great but ok I can accept that they were busy esp given the location in river ranch. So we are seated I ordered the daily special which was quiche .. not bad.. not great either.. but definitely not bad.. rather middle of the road. My mother and I had decided to go stag for that meal and as I received my bill I was shocked that breakfast.(typically the less expensive of all meals). for one person was nearly topping out at 20 before tip... I'm sorry but I personally cant see myself going back to a less than mediocre place with those kinds of prices .. and for breakfast of all things..

Very hit and miss. I've been here about 6 times. The food was half great half horrible. when it comes to the staff it's always a miss. They are not attentive. I haven't had a server I actually remembered or enjoyed there. The bloody mary is decent.

Went for breakfast on a Satirday morning. Wife had the crab cake cavallo and I had the southern crabstack. I have to say both were excellent. I've had the crab cake cavallo before and it's better than the crabstack in my opinion. This place is a little on the pricey side for breakfast, but worth it based on the quality of the food.

Great place for breakfast. The food is very good and the atmosphere is good, too. We don't mind the wait on weekend mornings because the fountain and walkways outside keep our 5 year old occupied.

Best breakfast in town by far! Omelets are pretty good, if a tad on the greasy side (I repeatedly get the crab and cream cheese stuffed omelet called "The Floridean). Prices are a tad high, but I think you're getting what you pay for. They're open from 8:00AM till 2:00PM I think. Expect long lines on weekends, particularly Sundays.

I woke up the other morning and thought to myself "I really want Another Broken Egg!". I moved out of Louisiana in November of 2010 and this is one of the few breakfast places in Lafayette that I miss. Everything I have had there has been fantastic...I'm a huge fan of their classic biscuits and gravy. It's just a little pricey, but for the area that it's in, it's expected. If I ever found myself in Lafayette again, I'd definitely go back.

Amazing bruch options at an affordable price. One of few places that you can expect some minial wait time to get seated (that's how you know it's good). Everything that I've had on the menu has been above average. I always crave the eggs benedict portion of the menu but venture outside of it from time to time. Lastly, it's in an excellent location being right in the heart of shopping and restuarants in River Ranch. If you have to jump on the waiting list, take some time to walk the surrounding area and do some window shopping.

Love this place! It's in walking distance from where I live, so I go frequently. I've tried quite a few different things, never had a single thing I didn't love. Food is fresh, and relatively inexpensive. Each time, the service was very nice and helpful (easier said than done at a place that opens so early) Highly recommend the B.L.A.S.T sandwich (bacon lettuce avocado smoked Gouda and tomato) it's my current favorite. Definitely worth a try!

Very good! We tried the "Hey Lucy" and "Floridian" omelettes, as well as both types of potatoes. The coffee is great! Everything was wonderful and our waitress Ashley was sweet and accommodating!

You can't go wrong at this place. All the menu items are delicious. I get the same thing every time - the granola and quinoa fruit bowl (can't remember the name?) and it's so refreshing and delish! I get it with a side of turkey sausage links and I'm stuffed! My brother orders the southwest scrambler (?) the one with chorizo and he loves it. My bestie ordered fried eggs over easy, black beans (which were amazing!) I come back every time I visit Lafayette.

Visiting the area. Thought I would try. It's located in River Ranch which is a fancy lil area with outside boutiques. Was seated outside so I could people watch. Was excited when I saw the menu. A lot of different variety and looked like unique dishes. I went with the Oscar Benedict. Had to send it back. I asked for medium it came out rare. My egg wasn't even poached and the crab was fishy tasting. Reordered for the Lucy omelet. It was better. Had a lot of chorizo inside. Definitely was a better choice. I also had a cinnamon roll. It's not Cinnabon but was tasty to me. Just thought it was overpriced. Service was poor. She forgot my coffee. Took to long to get my to go box. A fly landed on my cinnamon roll. So I couldn't take it home. She did take my oscar omelet off my ticket but was surprised how she bashed the cooks and told me that was there 3rd mess up. I don't think that was any of my business. Place was nice. I'm sure it's hit n miss with service. My advice would be to stay away from any seafood item. Was gona order shrimp and grits. Had to ask but they don't devein their shrimp. So good luck!

This place, in all honesty, is pretty darn good! The main thing that pisses me off to no end, however, is the constant, and I mean CONSTANT barrage of the same groups of people that get there, get seated, and just stay for hours on end as though they own the place!! It's pretty damned rude!! Now, the food is really good and the wait staff is always on point and very courteous. Sympathetic as well because they see the frustration with the people waiting to get seated. I'll continue to go back but my patience is wearing with this.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. On the weekend you can count on a wait but during the week they are good about getting you seated quickly. Service can be a little slow at times but this is a place to go for a relaxing lunch, not something you hop in and out of. Also if you sit at the bar, they are pretty quick. The basic breakfast here is just that... Basic. If you really want to enjoy them, try their specialties.

Food is amazing! Service is awesome! This place makes me so happy. I was a fan of the original since I am from around that area. The one in Lafayette has totally surpassed the other one though. The staff is super friendly and always have delicious food!!

This is one of those places that you REALLY want to like. Great menu and great charm. I was ready for an awesome breakfast with family and friends, but I just have to be honest. This wasn't impressive. Everyone's eggs were cold and dry when they got to the table (which for omelettes, makes a huge difference). The coffee was good - I'll give them that, but when our friend ordered a half-caf, the waitress brought out a regular coffee and told her she would bring a half full cup of decaf for her to mix herself... wtf? The mugs were not easily poured at all so she was making a mess at the table trying to mix it up. That was really odd. The potatoes were cold and hard. Service was forgetful and a little slow. I'm leaving two stars instead of one, just because i think that if the right management reads these reviews and fixes things, this could be a really great place. But the execution is just not there when we went. Too many food quality details left unchecked. Hope in another year or so I can try again.

Came here recently (June 2015) with a friend. We both had the veggie omelet, and it was great. A little high on the price side for breakfast, but other than that it was great.

Great breakfast stop in Lafayette. It's located in A nice boutique shopping area. There are several types of eggs Benedict. I love the black bean patty Benedict. Healthy sides are available.

I have been here many times and I have never had a bad meal. The biscuit beignets are awesome. There is usually a short wait to be seated, but its worth it.

I have eaten here a handful of times. It's always ok. But, just ok. The waitstaff is ok, just ok. Twice I have had to send my breakfast back to be warmed up because my eggs were cold. However, the City Grits are amazing!! If you jut want breakfast, go. If you are looking to be wowed, it's not the place for you.

I've never been impressed with this place. The food is always just ok at best. If it isn't for the great location, middle of Lafayette, and in River Ranch, I don't think people would go out of their way to eat here. For me, there are too many other options, that have better tasting eats, with cheaper prices than ABE. I'll give it three stars for the location, along with pretty quick service. It also has a nice Patio area, that is wonderful on those very nice Louisiana mornings we have from time to time.

Nice atmosphere and really good service. For an appetizer I ordered the BlackBerry Grits. Just grits with blackberries thrown on top. Sounded a lot better then it tasted, it was just bland.I then ordered the Southern Crab Stack. (Seasoned grit cake & jumbo lump crab cake topped with red bell peppers, green onions & a shrimp & Andouille sausage sauté). This was a beautiful looking dish. As for the taste it was nothing to write home about. I only ate a small portion of this. The butter sauce and toast were good. Despite all of the ingredients from the veggies to the crab it was just bland. I'm willing to try this place again in the future, just not anytime soon.

Full disclosure-I stopped here mostly for a Bloody Mary. Or three. Maybe five, even. The menu looked tempting so I decided to order breakfast to go alongside my "heavy on the vodka Bloody Mary" (which is how I order every Bloody Mary..heh heh). Anyway, the food. We ordered an appetizer called the Baked Brie Delight that consisted of apples, raisins and pecans drowned in butter and Brie cheese served with French bread. It was very, very good. Believe me when I say you'll want to share it with someone and probably take some home even still. It's quite rich. For my main dish I chose the Crabcakes Cavallo. YOU WANT THIS IN YOUR MOUTH. No, really. You need it. Heavenly crab cakes topped with poached eggs, hollandaise, bell pepper and green onions on an English muffin. Yes, yes, yes. My sister ordered the Southern Crabstack which I tried and was great as well. There are several vegetarian items on the menu as well as a few gluten free items. The Bloody Mary was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had by any means, but good enough. And I stopped at only two :)

Two things I never knew before dining here: 1) Coffee comes in "water" flavor. 2) Poached eggs have solid yolks Really. There are two basic things a breakfast place should do well: coffee and eggs. That's it. Not rocket science. Do yourself a favor. If you're looking for breakfast in Lafayette, try the French Press instead. The wait's longer, but it's well worth it.

I absolutely love having breakfast/brunch here. The menu choice is wonderful and versatile. The omelets are the best! Fresh vegetables and meat every time! YUM!

This place has its ups and downs. Some what a small establishment, always busy, so expect a wait time, especially on Sundays. The staff with okay, some were nice, and some were a bit snooty and rude. We had the following items: - Biscuit beignets - southern style beignets lightly tossed in powdered sugar, served with honey marmalade dipping sauce, this item is decent, the biscuit with the powdered sugar was sweet enough, i think the honey kind of tipped it overboard - Cinnamon roll french toast - cinnamon roll, grilled with french toast batter, layered with warm cream cheese icing, topped w/ banana's foster sauce, a mix of warm berries & whipped cream, this was delicious, somewhat sweet, but delicious and warm - Benedict Oscar - A grilled Sirloin steak atop a toasted English muffin finished with two poached eggs, sautéed crabmeat, asparagus and bearnaise sauce. This dish was delicious, except that I wished my eggs were poached correctly, and not over cooked.. ruined my whole dish, in my opinion.. - The Big Melt - A traditional patty melt on grilled rye with Swiss cheese & sautéed onions. The patty was very dry, end of story.. stay away from this.. I beg you.. - Grits with Cheese (side) - this tasted like instant grits topped with cheese.. please stay away from this horrid side.. This place has too many downs to want to come back..

The menu is so fun here! I love how they have so many different omelette options. The crawfish and shrimp omelette is my absolute favorite! It is so "Louisiana". Their crabstack is also really good; however, I know it is packed with calories. The mimosas are good even though they would be better if a bottomless option were provided. The location is perfect. It's right next to River Ranch in a cute shopping center. I'm sure I'll be back when I'm in the area.

I expected a wait time here to get a table - It was Sunday "brunch" time after all. The wait, however, wasn't bad at all - the waitstaff, on the other hand, was horrible. After being seated at our table, we waited about as long as we did for a table to even get a visit from our waiter. After our food was ordered, we waited even longer - and watched as other tables after us got their orders. Was our waiter not turning in orders in a timely manner? Who knows. Other than that, the food was decent, but with that kind of service I'd definitely think twice about eating here again.

Went here with family for a late breakfast. I had the shrimp & grits, & my husband had the Mardi Gras omelette. We both enjoyed our breakfast. Our server was gracious. The place was indeed busy. Overall good experience.

First time visit as part of our Saturday morning breakfast outings. Wait for table was 30 minutes, but was offered to sit at bar (two of us). Wait staff very attentive, always following up for coffee refills. Wife had The Mardi Gras (An omelette filled with smoked andouille sausage, red peppers, crawfish & scallions. Topped with a delicate tomato-hollandaise sauce. Crawfish were plentiful) and I had the Egg's Blackstone (An English muffin topped with grilled tomatoes, two medium poached eggs, creamy Hollandaise, a baked bacon crunch & chives.). Both dishes were excellent and we will make this a regular on our Saturday morning outings. *dish descriptions from menu

This is a good place to come for breakfast/brunch when you're not being a slob. It's also relatively healthy, which is nice, because a lot of breakfast places are very unhealthy for you. And it's right in the heart of River Ranch, so we usually eat here before venturing out to the various shops in the area.

I come here every holiday season and it is consistently good. Breakfast is super yummy and fresh. My family loves anything with ABE's Bacon!

Stopped in for breakfast recently, both the food and service was excellent. To be totally up front, we were the first ones in the door so obviously there was no waiting. The server was attentive but not overly pushy. My only issue with the place is the cost, could not afford to eat here on a regular basis.

I must say, this is one of the best breakfasts I've ever had in my 26 food-obsessed years. I had the Southern Crab Stack which truly is good enough to make you slap ya mama. To begin with, this dish is HUGE. The crab cake is mouthwatering (and I consider myself a crab cake connoisseur). It is piled atop an equaling enormous grit cake and then doused in amazingly rich and buttery shrimp and andouille cream sauce. And I can't forget the 4 buttery slices of French bread surrounding this tower of heavenly goodness. W-O-W! The restaurant itself is also very nice. The dining area is divided up so that you always feel like you are eating in a cozy little café. The decor and service are impeccable. I absolutely, positively highly recommend this tasty treat!!

  • Kristin K.

I don't want to be negative or unappreciative when taken to brunch but waiting 30-45 minutes for a table and then another 20-25 minutes for our entrees to come out for what is essentially a stereotype or caricature of Southern Cuisine doesn't sit well with me. I ordered the crabstack which was a sodium overload and a triple serving of carbs (my fault for not ordering something else). A definite Meh. I've experienced better.
