Best beans and rice period.!!! Pepe has ruined me for all Tex-Mex restaurants. His refried black beans and Mexican rice are perfect.... Let me say that again perfect.....Everything else on the menu is Tex-Mex and above average for tex mex. Tex Mex is not my thing, as I much prefer Taqueria style Mexican food, but food here is excellently prepared personally by Pepe, the chef/ co-owner.

We enjoy this place whenever we go. They've changed their menu from when they first opened, so they don't have the grilled cactus anymore. Bummer as it was delicious! Wouldn't go out of my way to go there, but if you are in the area, definitely stop by!

Great food! Their vegetable quesadillas are delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. The place is pretty small, but since we live down the road, we usually do take-out. Nice size portions too.

Eat here once a week, best Mexican food on the North shore, all dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients and you can taste the difference. Exceptionally clean restaurant. If you don't like the food here than you don't like Mexican food.

If you are used to California or Texas Mexican food do not come here... you will be greatly disappointed! I REPEAT! Don't be deceived by the country folk who do not know what Mexican food is. The best thing about the place was the male waiter. He was great and wasn't even our server. I think he knew we were upset... We had an older female waitress who was very rude and didn't offer any solutions to there limitations. First they don't have steak... Hmmm okay? I like steak burritos but alright I guess I will go with the chicken. "It only has chicken and cheese ONLY." Fine! I'm hungry let's get on with it. I don't like onions... but Ohh wait....3 burritos full of onions!!!! "Can I please have a hotter salsa?" "Ehhh we don't have anything else but we can make it hotter." She looked at us like we were crazy... the look on her face seemed like we asked for Alfredo Sauce! By the way. We rode bikes from Slidell on the Tammy Trace Trail. We should have rode for 10 or 20 more miles for something better. The extreme opposite of every uneducated review that I have read about this place. Such a disappointment. Not a ethnic menu. Shouldn't be qualified as mexican.

The guacamole dip was delicious as was the fajita and poco de gallo nachos with beef. The sopapilla dessert is so yummy. It's a flatter sopapilla with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream and cinnamon sprinkled. Share with a friend or your honey. The retried beans were dark and flavorful. I enjoyed a crunchy beef taco and chicken enchilada. I prefer a pork tamale and so I was iffy on the beef tamale.

So I've got this little routine. Date night is usually on a Friday night and I am on a mission to try any new place we can before settling into domestic bliss. Because once that happens we ain't leaving our Casa. #ifyouknowwhatImeanandIthinkyoudo First time here and it was just ok. The guy got chicken fajitas and I should've ordered those. They were very good. The chicken was tender and seasoned very well. Things started going downhill from here. My dish (shrimp A la Mexicana) was not really good. Although massive, just very subpar. If hot sauce had been available I'd have been very happy. No hot sauce. WTF? They forgot my drink order too. I had to remind them and then they still brought the wrong one. I am glad I got to try this place but I won't be back. But date night is always alright. No matter what.

I live in southern California and some family took me to this establishment. Nice little family owned restaurant. Living in SoCal I know good Mexican food. This place was awesome. Better than most in the SoCal area. Nice friendly service from good southern people. I highly recommend you visit Pepe's. Can you please open one in Los Angeles?

The food is really good and I love the fact that every time my wife and I go its always the same great quality. Fast and good service. Every time. We have eaten here a dozen or so times and never disappointed. We drive from Slidell because this is the best Mexican food around. Well worth the trip.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
