The company schedules the annual picnic here on a regular basis. So we go if we haven't made other plans. It's only a few minutes north of I-12, not far from Hammond. It's still a fair drive from the city. There is always stuff to do there. Something for everybody. There are paddle boats to use on the lake. They prefer (strongly) that you swim in their swimming pool rather than the lake. There is fish in the lake if that is your preference. And Lynhaven will supply the bait. Or you can sit comfortably on benches in the among the shady trees and watch people hard at work with those paddle boats. There is a weather worn putt-putt course, basketball court, ping pong tables, horseshoe pits, and a volleyball court for those athletically inclined. For a more sedate activity, they have a nice koi pond with big fish. Part of the deal for renting the place is they cater the food for the event. Basic picnic fare, BBQ chicken beans, sausage, slaw, ice cream, burgers and hot dogs. The food is decent. It's your fault if you leave hungry.
