I ordered the "beignets" and was extremely disappointed when they brought it to the table. It appeared and tasted to me to look like canned biscuits cut in half and fried and had powdered sugar with strawberry syrup on it. It was $5.00 for that!! Unreal! You can get three huge REAL beignets at the French market cafe for under $3.00 the last time I was there. Because of that experince st this cafe, I would never go back to try anything else. I looked over their menu and found their prices very high. The waitress was very nice so I gave one star only bc of her.

Had the Deli Combo, it was Roast Beef in Rye with extra Mayo, and the Crab Corn Soup.. Bread was stale and mayo old, the soup was like liquid salt in a bowl.. Terrible experience..

Get a pannini and beignets and fresh, hot coffee. This place has a variety of sandwiches and I have yet to try them all, but so far all have been very good. The staff are friendly and attentive. Not open on Sundays or very late in the evening, so lunch is the best bet. Have always had a good experience here. They have outdoor seating, but it is very limited and not covered, so it is weather-permitting.

Okay first the good. Our server, the girl with the Burberry glasses, was just awesome. Friendly and helpful. 1 star is because of her. The second star is for the coffee and beignets. Both are wonderful. (I've had 4 kinds now, all great) if not a bit pricey. Now for the 3 missing stars. The food was, well, bad. The CRAWFISH kickers had no CRAWFISH to speak of. The "cajun " sauce was mayo, yellow mustard and cayenne. I had the reuben, thousand island on the side. My tiny sandwich came slathered in it. WITH some on the side. The kraut was obviously old. Was sour and bitter. (And I know what sauerkraut is supposed to taste like, so don't be stupid). Now, on to my lovely companions lunch. The "toasted" french dip. So first the sandwich was room temperature, and was adequately full of what must have been the cheapest roast beef loaf the discount grocery had. In addition the French bread, which was good, was in no way toasted or even warm. The waffle fries were crisp and tasty, but also not hot. So the long and short of it. Get the coffee and beignets, and go somewhere else for lunch. Unless you like lousy food. Geaux Tigers.

This place is known for their filled beignets, especially strawberry, but the Banana Foster version is not to be missed. Great breakfast in Hammond, highly recommended.

I found Berry Patch Cafe while browsing a tourist magazine I picked up from the airport while waiting for my friend's flight to arrive. Their strawberry stuffed beignets were featured on a short list in a margin that mentioned foods that must be tried. Well, today we got to try them. We showed up around noon-ish for lunch. Cute place. The young server was very sweet and chatty and made us feel welcome and happy. We asked her for recommendations which included the chicken panini, the french dip, and the club. We opted to share the club on a croissant (made in-house), which came with waffle fries. The sandwich was pretty awesome. It was stacked high with meats and cheese on the feathery, buttery, soft croissant. The waffle fries were cooked PERFECTLY. Usually, I am very disappointed in waffle fries in their being soggy or too hard or over-seasoned... but these were dead on. They were hot and appropriately crispy. They weren't seasoned, but after a dash of salt I was in heaven. Then came the moment we were dreading... needing to choose which flavors of beignets we wanted to try. The options offered were: strawberry, blueberry, praline, bavarian cream, cream cheese, cream, chocolate, banana foster and cinnamon roll (cinnamon roll was the unanimous winner amongst the wait staff, and they set expectations ridiculously high). Beignets are ordered in an 8-count, and you can only choose TWO flavors of filling per order. We asked for a sample taste of the praline sauce they use (my friend is from Minnesota, where no one knows what a praline is) to see if we would like it. We did not. Moving on... Okay... about the beignets themselves... blew other famous beignets out of the freakin' water. They were soooooo light and fluffy and warm and fresh AND Berry Patch Cafe serves them with delicious homemade whipped cream. I now want to live at BPC full time. Done and done. If you get overwhelmed by sauce choices and hit the panic button and go with plain beignets, you are still going to be a happy camper. We ordered strawberry, which was FANTASTIC! This one turned out to be BFF's #1 pick. We had high hopes for chocolate, which turned out to be a little bit of a let down. I think we were expecting something rich like a chocolate ganache, but it had an off flavor... like a melted Chocolate Frosty. It wasn't bad, but I won't be ordering it again. Bavarian cream was pretty great, rated above the chocolate. But the cinnamon roll blew my mind, even after all the hype from the girls. I win! The restaurant does offer fresh baked french bread loaves and croissants for purchase. I got six croissants for $4.99. I win again! And for people who are nerdy like me and care about the cut of the ice in their drinks: BPC uses crushed ice. Hat trick! I will be making sure to stop here whenever I get the chance. They serve breakfast until 10:30, and I am dying to give that a shot.

1 star for the waitress & 1 for the beignets. Beautiful old building, very clean, awesome location. But the Croissant was cold & hard, scrambled eggs where cooked into thin sheets and tasteless. Grits tasted like instant (Instant in Louisiana. Seriously). And who puts red onions in an omelet. Oily cheese. All around cheap ingredients. . It's a shame, because this could be an excellent eatery with a little more management.. This was our third visit in the last year.. With similar experiences. Next time it will be Corner Cafe in Ponchatoula instead..

I felt myself get fatter the moment I walked in the door. Beignets with crispy edges and icing sweeter than I ever thought possible sliding down my mouth hole and gently settling into my love handle region...perfection achieved. For realz, highly recommend this place the place. Its clean, the servers are attentive and the menu is huge. Only complaint is that they should be open in Sundays so I can eat here err day.
