This place is not what your expecting. The food is delicious! Tonight my mom and I shared a plate of shrimp ceviche was out of this world. Salsa and bean dip is really good. 2 for 1 happy hour is a major bound! Downfall is that most of the servers don't speak very good English- makes it a little hard to order.

Good food. Took a long time to get our margaritas, which were WEAK. The large is huge. Ask for an extra shot I guess but you shouldn't have to.

This is the best Mexican restaurant around. Service and food are excellent and prices are very reasonable. A can't miss place you can always count on. Excellent!!

Bad! Got off Highway to fill up and eat. I was going to go to Waffle House but came here for a real meal. Ordered the enchilada platter and I regretted it the moment I got my plate. How do u ruin enchiladas?! I mean come on! You'd expect a place that has no fluent English speakers to know how to make Enchiladas! It's very boring Americanized food. The dish came with 4 enchiladas; Beef (ground, salty, processed flavored), Chicken (no flavor, dry), Cheese (cheap processed), Bean (there's no such thing in Mexico). Overall a true disappointment! Good thing I was just driving by! PS: Shoulda gone to Waffle House. 2 stars for having cold beer.

Really friendly wait staff! Fabulous margaritas ( try the mango!) and yes, it's a Mexican restaurant but they have THE best hamburger in town! 1/2 pound of ground meat and home fries...

Being the hungry traveler, I took a chance and pulled off the highway, and El Paso caught my eye. I was happy to discover the place was large and clean, run by a Spanish speaking staff, and an extensive standard Mexican menu, catering to a brisk business of mostly locals. I ordered a combination plate that included a beef taco, beef enchilada, and a beef tamale. The order came out in about 5 minutes, piping hot, and it was a perfect portion size. The food here isn't exactly gourmet Mexican, but it is tasty and satisfying. Sure beats fast food any day.

Food is good, although they did mess up my moms order a little bit. Salsa is spot on, chips are thick. Amazing service, friendly staff.

No host(ess), just poor attitude, and no service. Stopped in for what we hoped would be a simple late lunch today, Sunday. No sign of a host or hostess, until some guy who was obviously not happy to be working there, finally wandered up and seated us. Restaurant was maybe 1/2 full. Waited for about15 minutes and never saw any sign of a waiter, chips or even water. That was more than we bargained for, and found another restaurant nearby that actually wanted customers. Won't be going there again.

Was back in a few Saturdays ago...flying solo and wanted to check out the bar area...service at the bar this night wasn't terrible but wasn't as outstanding as the first visit. They definitely have upgraded the chips since I was last in...these were light and crunchy as well as fresh and warm They carry Sol cerveza which is a plus for me since it is my current favorite of the Mexican cervezas. SInce wasn't terribly hungry simply ordered the the ground beef nachos...I was in for a surprise by the size of the portion. This option came off the Appetizer section of the menu and was rather large. It was good eating and they do something a little different than other Mexican places I've ordered nachos at...they cover their nachos in queso in addittion to some melted cheese. I found it to be a delightful taste combination. 2 visits and I have liked it both times so I will definitely be going back.

The food was terrible. The waitress couldn't speak English and another waiter had to translate.

The beauty of this place is that it has ample outdoor seating when the South Louisiana weather cooperates. It is also located not far from the Tanger outlet mall and is probably a better option than the places around there. I am giving it a higher rating than it probably deserves based on the fact of the other chain restaurant options in the area.

This is your typical run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Went here for lunch hoping for at least decent enchiladas, and to be honest frozen enchiladas would have been just as good if not better. The queso would have been good had there not been chunks of cold cheese in it. To sum it up; food Served cold, salsa bland, service poor, overall just your average Mexican place.

I was very disappointed by this Mexican restaurant. My husband I went there tonight and though it seemed to have great promise we were very disappointed. First of all the host was going to seat us at our requested table and when we finally got to the table someone was already there. We ended up sitting in a booth which I don't personally enjoy. It took forever for the waitress to come over to our table and I didn't think she'd ever come back with our drinks and to take our order. She did come with chips and salsa and beans. We were disappointed in all. My husband ordered nachos locos and I ordered veggie fajitas. We waited and waited and waited. I'm used to Mexican food coming out much faster. When we finally did get our food his nachos left a lot to be desired. They advertised these as having cheese sauce. The cooks had put the tasteless shrimp and other meats on top of the chips along with shredded cheese that they melted in what was likely the microwave. The lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and jalapenos that should have been on the nachos came out on a separate plate. We've never seen that before. My veggie fajitas came with tasteless flour tortillas that had also been microwaved. The worst part was the veggies. They had absolutely no seasoning at all. It was all I could do to eat them even after adding salt and pepper. Don't even get me started on the slow, slow service. The waitress never checked on us and when she did she refilled my husband's drink with the wrong type. We will never be eating here again!

Been three times and really enjoy the food and the service. And they had live music on the patio! What more can you ask for? Food was out fast, drinks faster, never let the soda run out they were there with refills before I even had to ask! Where else does that happen? Keep up the good work and I will keep eating! Oh yeah, ask for the "green" salsa! If you're into heat!

My husband and I had dinner tonight at the new El Paso Mexican Grill in Baton Rouge and I can absolutely say we will be going back and soon! The cheese queso, steak flautas, tamales and steak chile relleno were great! The service was fantastic.

Wasn't too crazy about the margs. Queso, quesadilla, bean dip & beef burrito were yummy. Next time I'll sit outside on the patio.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
