If I want sushi in Covington, I go to Yujin and get a Burning Man Roll. Great place!

I'll keep this short: This is the best sushi at the right price on the Northshore. Super friendly staff, always smiling and willing to explain what's in a roll. The sushi is always fresh.. Generous portions (important for my sushi experiences!). It's a simple little building, not much to look at, which is fine by me. If you're looking for the cutesy, high-end Japanese culinary EXTRAVAGANZA, then this is not your place. Just great sushi for a decent price, server by people who know what they're doing. Hot rags, free miso, and cute high school servers -- go eat here.

This little "hole in the wall" is AWESOME! Fresh sushi, excellent service and nice selections. They even cater to allergies...so helpful. I'm making this my regular stop. Enjoy!

Went for lunch. The soup is very good. Had the Mexican and mandeville roll. Service was not bad. Only thing I didn't like is the building is old and smells funny when you walk in.

Sushi was some of the best that I had in a long time. The only reason I don't give it a 5 is the atmosphere. Doesn't feel like a sushi restaurant. A plus is that they use plastic gloves when handling food!

Nice prices, good food, very casual diner like atmosphere, friendly service! Waitresses are super friendly and helpful! This is nice and fresh! Extensive menu take a little while to look over what you want :-)

Good sushi. Terrible service. We came here for a birthday dinner. We had a party of 15 and called the day before to let them know we were coming. We called again the afternoon of the dinner to confirm. We were told to get here early. We arrived 30 minutes ahead of scheduled time and they only had 1 six top reserved. We were told that they would get us more tables eventually. After we were all seated, we had to ask to order drinks after 20 minutes of sitting around. Never got refills. We had to even ask for plates with our sushi. Never got those. Luckily, my brother brought cake plates to go with the birthday cake so some of us could eat our sushi. We ended up having to drizzle soy sauce over our sushi because they never brought dishes for soy sauce either. As I type this review, half of our party is still waiting for their food. We have been sitting at our table for over an hour.

One of my favorite places to eat in Covington. Try the Robert roll and the Mandeville Roll. Great and fast service. Located in the middle of downtown Covington, very quaint.

It's a hole the wall - nothing at all fancy. I must admit I had my doubts as I first entered. I discovered, however, a pleasant surprise - it actually offers decent sushi! There are a few interesting rolls and the fish seems to be quite fresh! On the negative side I found the rice to be packed a bit denser than I like (seems like a small thing but it can throw off an otherwise excellent piece of sushi). I will that the Old School Roll totally rocked! The so=called Chocolate Roll included a sweet sauce that I didn't care for but the lady loved it. Just a note - the service tends to get a bit overwhelmed and really slows down the restaurant gets busy. If you happen to visit on bust night you may do well to keep this in mind. Bottom line: Nothing fancy. While not the best sushi in town it is solid and a good value for the money. I'm sure I'll be back!

Love the 911 roll. Snow crab, cream cheese, crunchy, asparagus and chili sauce. Was my mother's creation when she worked at 911 across the street. Still my favorite. Great location for lunch from work.

Food was ok. Service poor and it was slow. Typical sushi menu prepared by local Cajuns loses some of its origins along the way. Ordered smelt roe and was served salmon roe, server didn't know the difference, asked several times for a wasabi/soy dish and she didn't know what I meant. 0 Japanese ambiance, although it did have a token Japanese lady who came out from the back and sat for a few minutes at the bar and went back. Think she was the owner. They could do a lot better.

To potential customers and Restaurant Owner, As I walked past the sushi chef smoking at the entrance, I should have followed my gut instinct and ran the other way. Now as I struggle to write this review from a fetal position, & fear my gut shall never function properly again. Cant say for certain it was the sushi that has us this sick. However using process of elimination, compounded with the fact my wife & I have not been able to eat or drink anything since leaving, this is the conclusion i have come to. Service was great, we even had a cockroach check on our table. I asked him for the bill. ( I could tell it was a male cockroach because of the balls he had to stroll so leisurely by our table.) Price was fair, as long as I do not consider the money lost when I stay home sick from work tomorrow. From what I remember of Yujin's quality, our experience today was a true decline, & disappointment. Although I am not a restaurant owner, in my opinion most problems I encountered today could be easily remedied. As I stated, I am not a professional in this industry, but here are my list of tips. 1) Wipe down tables with something other than what must have been a greasy rag. 2) Buy a broom & mop. 2a) use mop & broom. 3) Check on the roach problem. Roaches like to hide, so if you see one just walking by you there in the middle of the day enjoying your company, think about how many more you don't see. 4) TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR BUSINESS! 5) Employ only those who understand the service industry & will take pride in your business.

Great sushi. Great price. Waitress very friendly. Attentive. Favorite- burning man roll. Mississippi Roll great, too. Gem in downtown Covington. Small restaurant. I brought all my children though, who eat sushi well. Has take out, and is great place for a business lunch. Been here dozens of times. Always good. Been to all the local Sushi places around, and none are as good with as fresh ingredients and amazing service. You can't go wrong with this place.

I love the baked salmon roll and the service has always been very nice. I hadn't been here in a long time but will be a regular now I'm working in Covington. They revamped their bar area if you haven't been in awhile.

The rolls are good and a little cheaper than others in area. The Swamp roll is the best, so far, in my opinion. The California roll, Shrimp Tempura roll, and Soft Shell Crab roll are also good bets. The service was a little slow, but worth it for the quality we received. I would not recommend the Chicken Teriyaki dinner. Chicken was not grilled enough and the other items on plate were swimming in the sauce from chicken.

Just tried Yujin for the first time the other day after hearing many good reviews. It did not disappoint. I ordered three different rolls and they were all fantastic. The fish was super fresh and everything was prepared perfectly. Since it was my first time there I had some questions and our server was very helpful and friendly. In my experience, they easily have the best sushi in town.

There may be no such thing as a free lunch, but you're guaranteed some free soup to start you off at this restaurant. This hidden gem in historic downtown Covington has some of the best sushi in town. The rolls are beautifully prepared and have colorful names, like the "burning woman", the "whatever", and the "rock and roll". Its probably the only sushi place where you can get a "swamp" roll. There are tons of mouth-watering options and the prices are very reasonable. Equally enjoyable for lunch or dinner.

Soup good . Ocean. Salad good. Ordered couple of rolls, 30 min later still hadn't come, asked waitress, said sushi guy was by himself but there were only 2 other tables; he them admitted he forgot our order. Quality good. Service not

Awesome sushi and great prices. The decor is not fancy but the prices reflect that. We go at least once a week.

Now this is what I call a place for power lunches. Seriously!! You are in and out fast enough to run an errand before using up your whole lunch hour. And the food is really good. Today I had the Tempura & Sushi lunch speacial for $9. I got a tuna roll, tuna, salmon, whitefish and crab sushi along with a plate of salad, a bowl of brown rice and tempura shrimp & veggies. As soon as they seat you a bowl of soup and hot towel is placed in front of you. The service is really great. They just did some updates to the building. It isn't in the coolest slot of this building on New Hampshire. The ambiance hasn't been great in the past . . very KC Hallish actually. But now they have painted the ceiling a dark color, painted the walls and put up some nice art to give it more of a restaurant feel. Whenever I have a sushi craving this is the place I go. No non-sense sushi!

Excellent and fresh! So tasty you can skip the dip in soy sauce! Highly recommend to any foodie out there!

Best sushi in the area. I've tried the Cajun roll, Cali roll, spider roll (ss crab), and the seared tuna (can't remember the name of it) and it was all amazing. Wouldn't go anywhere else in Covington or Mandeville for sushi.

This place is not fancy by any means, pretty much a "mom and pop", "hole in the wall" type of restaurant, but often these are the hidden gems which I always return to! The sushi is always fresh and their prices are pretty low, compared to say, Megumi. The Peppered Tuna Tataki is AMAZING! It's my new favorite dish! The Beef Teriyaki here is also very good! I usually have them make a special roll for me because they don't have a "Cajun Roll" like Kirin in Hammond, but it comes out just as good! I also like the Crunchy Rolls, Spicy Tuna, and my mom loves their California Rolls! Their Seaweed Salad is delicious as well! Complimentary Clear Soup is always given promptly when you are seated, but most of the time they just let you pick where you'd like to sit, it's not a very big place. Yujin is consistently good, ALWAYS! I have never gone and gotten something other than what I anticipated. It also looked as if they had recently renovated since the last time I had gone! It looks waaay better! The only really "negative" thing I would have to say, is that the parking sucks! You usually have to parallel park on the street or walk a little ways! Anyway, if you are looking for good fresh sushi and Japanese, and you don't want to spend a lot of money, Yujin is definitely the place to go!

Everything we had was fresh and delicious! The rice on the rolls was perfect, not too gummy and not falling apart. Try the poki salad, you won't regret it.

Yujin is consistently good. They use very fresh ingredients and the guys behind the counter do a fantastic job turning out creative and tasty rolls. As a starter, I recommend the squid salad. It is squid marinated in ginger and is simply delicious, as is the seaweed salad. You won't go wrong with the Burning Man Roll, one of my favorites. I also like the Mississippi roll and the Downtown Roll - sooo good! The tempura is light, flavorful, and not at all oily, for those that are not in the mood for sushi or rolls. Lunch is a bargain and dinner will not break the bank. Great food, fair prices and excellent service keep me coming back again and again.
