We have been going to Osaka weekly since 2005 after Katrina relocated our office. Today was the last day our office will ever go back. The hostess was the rudest person I have ever experience. She greeted us with a "what do you want?" I said, "excuse me" She repeated herself with the same question. I gestured that we wanted to get seated. She grabbed some menus and just stormed to the dinning area where she put the menus on the table and walked out. We decided to leave. As we left I told her they had lost good clients and that were never coming back. She shrugged nonchalantly. I let a day pass before calling the owner or manager. I called and asked for them last night. The lady at the phone asked me if I was the person that left the restaurant the day before and I said yes. I asked if she was the owner and she said the owners were not there but she would pass me to the manager. I asked her if she was the lady who mistreated us and she said yes. I said to please pass me to the manager. I spoke with the manager and I went over the events and she said she would talk to the hostess and she was sorry. I left feeling they did not care.

I Love Osaka! This is the second time I've been to this restaurant and it was great both times. The cooks are really funny and entertaining. They start you off with a small bowl of Misou which is pretty tasty and then a salad. This time I had the steak and shrimp. Just Delish! The amount of rice and veggies they give you is insane!...easily enough for 3 meals. The steak and shrimp were perfect. If you haven't tried it yet, go there now!

The manager here was very rude to my wife and I. I asked about a special order because she was on a particular diet and he told us that she should have eaten before she came to his restaurant!? I wrote the owner and never received a reply. Never again.

Was in town for business and stopped by this place. Ordered grilled salmon and gyoza appetizer. The salmon came in 3 squares pieces on top of tons of onions (guess there was a special on onions). Salmon had no taste. Completely bland. The gyoza skin was hard and tough as if it had been sitting around for some time. $$ and food went down the drain!

This is second time in 2 months we dined at Osaka West in Covington. Chef Rudy ( Indonesian guy) gave us a lecture who was behind the September 11 attacks to the twin towers. According to him American Government and Jews were the ones mastermind the attack?????? Beside that he was constantly making a comment about he is not happy, If you don't have money in this country you cannot be happy. Nobody loves him. He was making comment about my daughter she must be spoiled, but your parents love you. My wife said Rudy you are making us un easy. He said get another drink. He says he is Cajun Cowboy, hehaaaa. At that point my blood was boiling and I ask him where he is really from? He said he is from Indonesia. My second question was whether he is a muslim. He said he is atheist and started laughing. I told him I am from Turkey and been here over 34 years. I appreciate this Country .You cannot talk freely in your own country like that. If you can't see what this Country offers you then all you have to do get an airplane ticket and get the hell out of here and go back to your Country! Then I talked to the employee who was at the cash register, and told her about our horrible experience, by the way this was my daughter's birthday. She said she is sorry, and I thank our young server who did a great job and it seems he was very upset with his co-workers comments too. And we left.

Fresh, quality ingredients and large portions. The staff is EXTREMELY friendly. Anyone who leaves a bad review about Osaka is just in denial. We love going. Their hibachi is delicious and their sushi is the best in the Mandville/Covington area. Try a "sexy roll" with soy wrap. You will NOT regret it.

I have never really had a great experience here. The staff is bizarre, and once a hibachi chef made me so irritated that I actually had to get up and go to the restroom for a tissue. Also, the hibachi is extremely overpriced, so don't expect to walk out of there for less than $80 for 2 people. True story!

We had the Hibachi grill meal...filet mignon and shrimp for me...filet and lobster for my wife...mine was terrific, she said the steak was great but the lobster a little rubbery...the cook was entertaining and talented, and we found the service to be very good

I came here with my coworkers to have hibachi. I've had hibachi many times before and our chef messed up during his performance more than anyone I'd ever seen before. He missed flipping the spatula maybe a handful of times. He dropped about 3-4 eggs. This was not a big deal though, he was a good sport about it and laughed it off. I would say that Benihanas has a more entertaining performance- with the choo choo train and all, but this was fine. One negative I'd comment on is that the place was freezing inside! I wonder if their heat was broken.. or they just chose not to have it on? Today was a "cold" day in Louisiana (30 degrees fahrenheit) so I'm not sure what was up with that... Here is my review of the items I tried: Green tea- good Miso soup- very good Salad- meh... it was drenched in dressing and it wasn't the usual orange ginger dressing you get at Japanese restaurants Fried rice- surprisingly really good Sauce that came with hibachi- it reminded me of french salad dressing... so I was not a fan and did not use it The chef was nice and gave the people that ordered steak, some hibachi chicken to try, and he gave the people that ordered chicken, some hibachi steak to try. I have never experienced that before and I think that was really nice of the chef. He also interacted with the crowd a lot. He MADE everyone try to catch an egg that he flipped off of a spatula in our mouths. That was entertaining. I did not want to do it but he chucked it at me anyway which was ok... but I'm more comfortable sitting and watching these type of things. Steak hibachi- DELICIOUS The dish I actually ordered- chicken hibachi- I had a few pieces and did not continue. To be fair, I am not a big fan of chicken, but I was hoping this was one of those places that would change my mind... It was one of my co-workers first times eating hibachi and he really enjoyed the performance and said he would give the food a 5 star. My other coworkers enjoyed their dishes as well. Overall, it was a good time with good food.

Great! Took the whole family here. I'm not sure about the old bad revues, but our family and everyone at our table had a great time. My 8-year old said its the best food he ever had in his whole life! Lol. Our teppanyaki was a great entertainer and chef. I'm definitely taking the family back here again.

Seated in the Hibachi area. Service was inattentive. Our daughter was brought the wrong drink but thankfully we could hear our waiter coming a mile away because he dragged his heels. Clop...clop..clop...clop....clop We were in on a Tuesday for lunch and asked if I could order sushi without being charged a hibachi fee. The menu says Fri and Sat night only but I wanted to clarify. Waiter said yes, there would be a charge. There was no one else in the place so it wasn't like I was taking up a place for another patron. I pointed to the menu and explained that it was Tuesday at lunch and not a dinner and not Fri or Sat. He asked someone behind the bar a question in another language and then said yes I could. Hibachi was ok. Sushi was just ok too. Our hibachi chef "Rudy" was very funny and put on a good show. He gets 5*. An hour and forty-five minutes for lunch on a Tuesday is very slow service.

Another great place for a quiet night out. I like to order the sushi here, it is very fresh and there is a wide variety of rolls to choose from. They also serve a vast menu of traditional Japanese fair. I like to order the bento box-- there is always food left over to take home. We took some friends here that are not accustomed to eating ethnic foods. There were items on the menu for them as well. She ordered the shrimp and stated that it was some of the best that she had eaten. Service is good.
