This is one of the best sushi places I have ever been. With a group of four we ordered eight rolls and they were all awesome. The portions were very generous and the service was amazing. Most of the rolls came with 10 to 12 pieces. They were also well presented. Almost none of our rolls had rice, but still super tasty. Protein roll and raw roll were really good as was the cute roll, but we had the lady order it. The rolls come out really quick, so be prepared. Guard your soup as they will take it quickly. I would skip the red bean ice cream.

So many specialty sushi rolls to choose from! We went there right at closing time, but they accommodated us.

The best sushi in the New Orleans area. Presentation, taste, texture, and service were all excellent.

Went for lunch today, not first time. Sushi was delicious, and plentiful. My GF went to use ladies room before we left and said there is no soap so we were wondering how the waitresses wash up!,,?.?? They handled plates, glassware, and such??!!

I Love sushi and eat sushi at least 1-2 times a week, every week. Everywhere I travel, I always check out local sushi restaurants. From sushi restaurants in Tokyo, Shanghai, San Francisco, New York, Miami, Orlando, and even landlocked places like Denver, Las Vegas, Arizona, all have array of good and mediocre sushi restaurants. I've had some great sushi in New York and Tokyo, but I now discovered ultimately the best sushi I've eaten here at Megumi. After reading up on google and yelp, I chose Megumi in Covington due to its rave reviews. We got seats at the sushi bar and were greeted by two nice sushi chefs. Because the restaurant was busy, the chefs split our order which included 8 orders (x2 pieces) of nigiri sushi (squid, salmon, yellowtail, tuna) and 4 rolls. Their Rolls menu includes probably at least 40+ different rolls, everything looked great but we went for rolls that included more raw fish and less sauce (vs. cooked/tempura and splattered with sauces). We watched the 2 chefs make orders very fast and every plate was coming out as piece of art - rolls and fish looked very well made, perfect size (generous amount of fish), and presentation was beautiful. When we got our nigiri sushi, we were blown away by the quality of the fish. All of our fish was cut perfectly and the fish melted in our mouths. Definitely topped all the sushi we've had before. The rolls were big and tasty, perfect size- not too much rice to fill you up, with good amount of fish, and not small to leave you craving more. Highly recommend this restaurant. Hope the quality of cooked food, quality of sushi, and good customer service stay like this. It's not just best sushi in Covington, it's Best sushi ever!

Phenomenal meal had here today. I got the ocean salad to start, and I think it was one of the best bites of sashimi I've ever had. Can't recommend Megumi highly enough.

This place is in a tucked away part of downtown Covington. The sushi is great and the service is excellent. Quiet atmosphere and away from the hubbub.

I love Megumi. We get great sushi in this area, but Megumi is top notch. I love the Mandeville location, and recently had the opportunity to stop in at the Covington location. As expected, it was excellent! If you love good sushi, you will love Megumi!

This is one of the best sushi places I've ever been. There were three of us in total and we ordered the Snow Crab Calamari and Pork Dumplings as appetizers. For our meal we ordered the Mixed Seafood Bowl which consisted of various raw fish over rice, the Angel Tear which was thin noodles with diced grilled chicken, followed by three rolls. The first roll was the Crazy Naruto (son is an anime fan) which was wrapped in Cucumber and filled with seared ribeye. This was my first experience with beef sushi. It was very flavorful. The second roll we tried at the waiter's suggestion was the Hawaiian Breeze. OMG it was undoubtedly my new fave! First, the presentation alone is beautiful and tropical with an edible flower atop. It is filled with coconut shrimp, cream cheese, avocado and I can't recall what else but it is delectable with a sweet and tangy taste. The third roll which was more like a pile was the Special Volcano Roll. It's a mountain of warm deliciousness fried tempura style, filled with shrimp, cream cheese and some other stuff with a heaping of snow crab on top. For dessert we all shared the tempura cheesecake and ice cream which was really good, except for a few hard chunks of cheesecake inside. Overall, we LOVeD Megumi. Prices were reasonable, presentation was everything and service was great. We plan to return very soon!

We ordered takeout tonight. When I called I specifically said I wanted eel sauce and spicy mayo with my rolls. When my husband went to pick up he again asked if they had put some in the bag and they said yes. When we arrived at home 1 tiny spicy mayo and 1 tiny eel sauce. I was so mad I called and complained but at that point I'm not going back for sauce. They packed 2 chop sticks for 4 rolls. 1 of the chop sticks broke so I was stuck using my hands. To top it off Wow what bad sushi. Basically loaded with rice and just didn't taste like much of anything. The $2.00 happy hour rolls in Slidell are 10 times better. Horrible! I'm sitting here eating yogurt now. What a waste I should also mention the jammed three huge rolls in one container.

Great service. Wonderful sushi. Will definitely be a regular. Take out service is quick. The only issue is I have a hard time understanding the lady that answers the phone for take out orders

There is no reason this place should be so good.

Good sushi.. Except they serve these big ass (almost inedible) sized rolls. You have to take multiple bites and the whole thing falls apart and becomes frustrating to eat. I don't really see the value of serving a piece of sushi the size of the palm of my hand. It's almost like they're playing a joke on the customers. For that reason I will not be back.

HUGE beautiful rolls, the presentation is lovely even for take out. The sushi menu is miles long with plenty of variety. For our first meal there, we were overwhelmed by the number of options and asked an employee for recommendations. He inquired of our fav ingredients and chose a few rolls that were perfect for our tastes. The space is relatively neutral and it's easy to forget that you're in a strip, neighboring a gym. This is our new go-to sushi spot and we are delighted.

BEST sushi in covington. HUGE selection and if you want something else, they can make it. I would absolutely recommend this place. Fish is super fresh and everything tastes phenomenal. I found my new favorite restaurant on the Northshore!

This is as good a sushi place as there is on the planet. Have eaten lots of sushi in NYC, Dallas, San Francisco etc, and Megumi is as good if not better than any there. And the presentation is just incredible. I also cannot believe the number of rolls they have and my only complaint is that given that the list is so long, there is no room for description of the rolls. Overall just incredible.

Outstanding presentation with fresh sushi. I love the place I would recommend anybody to try the swamp attack and the swamp Dragon. Lived in Louisiana all my life and have never had soft shell crawfish.

Consistently a great sushi restaurant! They're presentation and creativity is worth the trip. There are several off menu options. If you want it, ask for it. No issues with substitutions.

This place has the largest sushi menu I had ever seen. It was 4 pages, completely filled out front and back. I had no idea what to get! I ended up getting the New Orleans Roll, the Playboy Roll, and I don't remember the last one but they were all pretty good! Big portions and very filling! Overall good experience, I'd go back. One small issue was I called twice because I could not find the place and let's just say it doesn't sound like the hostess knows where they are located.

If you're looking for high-quality sushi for $15, that's the place to go. I went there intrigued by 5-stars reviews and I have to say this establishment lived up to my expectations. The interior isn't super fancy, but the seating area is comfortable and you will have privacy. Service is very attentive and polite, eager to recommend best dishes. I tried couple rolls, spinach with sesame and salmon tartar, all nicely presented and very tasty. They certainly don't save on ingredients!

Awesome Fresh beautifully prepared. I had the Fire and Ice Roll & Tuna & Yellowtail Sashimi. Probably the best Sushi I have had In Louisiana. Service was really great and the prices weren't as high as other high class restaurants I have been. To bad I can't give six stars.

Just visiting for a few weeks on business. Fortunately for me, the sushi restaurant on the main highway was closed for vacation. My Garmin pointed me here, the next closest one. Wow.... really fresh fish, it was late so i was almost alone but the service was still attentive. I sat at the bar: a clear broth and salad were delicious, a fresh salmon appetizer was scrumptious, they HAD Uni, and a bottle of cold unfiltered Sake topped it all off. This is my new favorite Sushi place in the New Orleans Area. Ditto to the previous comments...it is out of the way and unless you know it is there....

Great sushi. Great service. Geisha roll was wonderful. Spicy edamame is the beat. Nice crab salad with avocado. Get it with the ginger dressing

The rolls are impressive and the service is pretty fast. The presentation is outstanding, but watch out for the rolls that are on the large side! We ordered the Soft Shell Crab roll and it was too large to eat whole. Those of you who eat rolls know how difficult it can be to eat when the roll is too large. Having said that, that was a good roll! They also have interesting flavored roe that has a nice kick to it (green was Wasabi and red was Habanero, I think). I am looking forward to my next visit. Oh, one last thing... make sure you give yourself enough time to read the menu. The rolls take up quite a few pages!

I'm from the DC area and am here for business. I found this place on Yelp and it is fantastic. Sushi on steroids! One roll is enough for lunch when back home I need to order 3. Great service and clean. It's is hard to find but well worth it!!!

I am shocked there wasn't a listing for the Covington Megumi's yet, so I added it. Excellent, fresh sushi is to be had here. It is a real sushi joint, not a hibachi place or a sushi bar and grill.

All around great experience. When I arrived, I was the only one so I sat at the sushi bar. The chefs were eager to help with my sushi selection. They made a few suggestions, gave some advice, and in the end made the decision for me after I narrowed it down. He told me the rolls had 10 or 11 pieces, but I still didn't expect them to be as big as they were! It's definitely a great marketing scheme, because most people will want to have more than one option in sushi dinner. But, since they are serving so many pieces on one roll, they can charge extra money. Fear not, the sushi is excellent and the presentation is excellent. You get what you pay for, and possibly a little more! But, be warned, the sushi menu is overwhelmingly long. And don't even think about photographing it for yelp! They will stop you right away- Hah. Understandably, they want to protect their secret recipes. No complaints here, service was great. Go with a big appetite.

Best Sushi in the New Orleans area! "Food is art, it must be first eaten with the eyes, before it can be truly enjoyed." Chef LuLu Mo- Owner.
