Very cute little town. Tap house was a nice little place to enjoy a few beers and visit with friends. Service was ok could have been better. Would come back again to try the food.

This is actually a review for the Seiler Bar which is part of, but separate from, the main Tap Room. Seiler Bar is the fancier cousin of the Tap Room. While the Tap Room caters to a younger crowd, Seiler Bar seems to be going for the young professional and somewhat older crowd. This is not a bad thing, unless you're a young malcontent. Because it is affiliated with the Tap Room, the beer selection is excellent. There are several different IPAs, and the bar likes to focus on local brews such as those from Chafunkta Brewing in Mandeville. I had no idea that brewery existed until my last visit to this bar. If beer isn't your thing, there is a large wine list along with all of the premium liquors. My favorite part of the bar is their patio. If the weather is nice it is a great place to sit with friends. It even has a fence that faces the street which makes for excellent people watching on busy nights. If you're in the Covington area and want to avoid the crowds next door, check out the Seiler Bar.

As a local Covington resident I'm giving an honest non-biased as much as possible review and I'm not taking too much time because I'm busy. I grew up with and went to school and hung out with the people who go there, work there, manage there, etc. Pretty cool people. Good food, good drinks, cool music. The crowd can get pretty rowdy, people get in fights, it can get kind of rough sometimes. Some people wear earplugs because the music gets too loud. Different people like different things, y'know. Anyway, the owner eh, his character is questionable but he's an ok person. Pot and pill dealers are allowed to come in and sell to the staff, the customers, the owner most likely. Small town, everybody knows everybody, good ol' boy system. Not the most professional and kinda sketchy unless you are in that crowd. I don't go there much because too me it's a little too rowdy and some of the people are nasty even when sober. I have mixed feelings about the place. Not the most friendly of people, of course I'm somewhat of a shy person. There's a lot of cool people and friends there but the owner, Steve, eh, I'm not the only one who thinks he's kind of a douche, in and out of work. Keep in mind I haven't been there in a few years.

Good place to grab a beer and watch the game. We had fried green tomatoes, which was delicious. Had buffalo wings which were just ok. Could have used a little more spice. Beer selection was great. Featured a lot of local breweries.

During the day the establishment is a restaurant. The food is good and is a decent price. At night it turns into a bar room. There is live music on the weekend. Expect to pay a cover charge, usually about $10. Security is tight and you will not be allowed to bring your drink outside. The bar caters to the 30-50 year old crowd of couples and divorcees alike. Usually shuts down at 1:30am. Casual atmosphere but everyone dresses nice. Dress code enforced.

This is a review for the food, not the bar. I stopped in for lunch one day. It was great! They serve american classics and of course, seafood. Here's what I got: Tomato Basil Soup-rich, creamy and perfect. Served with a big dallop of melting butter and french bread to soak all that yummy soup up, this soup isn't low fat by any means but boy is it goood. Buffalo Shrimp app-served with ranch dressing and celery sticks. Very, very good and I'll be back for this dish alone. Club Sandwich-classicly simple and very good. The Tap Room is a good place to have a quick lunch in downtown Covington. Try it if you're in the area.

So after a several month absence I have started frequenting the Tap Room again. Anyway, I thought I would go ahead and update the review. 3 stars originally - I'm actually conflicted on this - but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and stick with the 3 stars that I gave them nearly two years ago. Why the conflict you ask? How shall I put this - the food quality has kind of gone down. I don't know, It used to better. It's still decent but it kind of ends there - it's decent. Not great. Not terrible, but not great. Service is still friendly at times. And yes, I had forgotten how uncomfortably packed the place can get on weekends with live music. However, I must admit that the bands are usually pretty good! Due to the beer selection, which remains better than average, and the quality of the music I'm sticking with the 3. New bottom line: It's OK. I think my friend John hit the nail on the head - it isn't a bad bar it's just not a great one.

I came here on a Thursday night with two coworkers. There were no open tables so we sat at the bar. The bartender was nice, it was her second day of work. I asked for a non alcoholic drink with pomegranate in it and she gave me basically a pomegranate slushi in a martini glass. It was delicious and I loved it. For my appetizer, I got the crab gumbo. It was ok... it tasted like clam chowder. For my meal, I got the 6 oz filet with potatoes. The potato was completely deep fried but still pretty good. The steak was very good. It was a lovely pink color and very juicy! For dessert, they only had two choices- creme brulee or a lemon tart. I really dislike creme brulee so we got the lemon tart. All I can say is I had one bite and it was tooooo tart. But the steak made this review an overall 5.... I would definitely come back for it!

I'm a local Covington resident, and visit the Seiler Bar and Tap Room quite often. Although there are many really good local dining options in the area, we decided to try the Seiler Bar menu on Friday, seated outside on the patio. We had the speckled trout with BBQ shrimp topping, which was absolutely outstanding and our wait service was terrific. I can't recall her name, but she was also working the main bar, and did a great job checking on the party. My only caution: if you don't smoke and don't care to be surrounded by it, dine inside. It's cigar and cigarette central on the patio.

Drank and didn't eat, but the band was really good.

My husband and I went here the other day for lunch and we both got the Club sandwich.......it was the BEST club sandwich I've ever had! The meat was juicy and flavorful, the fries were crispy and hot and the beer was cold! It was delicious!

Once upon a visit to New Orleans .... I stayed in a town called Covington. One of my best girlfriends, and now resident of this lovely town, was taking me on a nighttime tour of downtown Covington. The clean, quiet sidewalks, the lingering smell of smoke and BBQ in the air, and the rhythm of music starting to fill the dimly lit empty streets. She told me this was the place to have some good beer on a Monday night. Perfect!! We grabbed a spot at the bar, but I did notice that there was an extensive dining area. Indoors, as well as a large outdoor patio. The bar area also had lots of tables, mucho space for dancing and swinging. The beer list was certainly extensive, most of which I had never heard of before, but I was proud to order local Abita Brews. After bobbin my head to the music for a little while, the bartender, who was very attentive, offered to put in some food for us. We enjoyed creole crab cakes with roasted corn, and I had my first SHRIMP PO BOY in like 5 years. Super tasty, just what I wanted. The live music was awesome as well. I was also noticing the lineup of artists that they book from the past, and it looks like some pretty good stuff comes through this town. If you ever find yourself on the Northshore of good ol' Louisianna, find downtown Covington and stop in for a cold Abita!!

Came in hungry at 9:05 and was told kitchen closes at 9:00. The place was not too busy so I think they could have accommodated me.

This place used to suck, now its awesome. And no I dont work here! I have noticed a huge difference in the turning around of this business. The food and staff are awesome now. This is my favorite lunch spot with my girl friend in covington! The chicken wrap add veggies, its AWESOME.

I see many of the reviews date back to old management, so they're not really useful. I found the food to be excellent and the service pleasant. What impressed me most was the selection of craft beers and the knowledge of the staff about them. best around.

I haven't been here at night to experience the bar scene, but as a lunch place, I felt this place was great. Their menu is competitively priced with typical lunch choices, like a club sandwich or a buffalo shrimp wrap, which are two things I have had here and enjoyed. The best thing on the menu in my opinion though is the Catfish Lafayette, which is probably the best seafood dish I've ever had. It's catfish topped with a seasoned buttery cream sauce, nice large shrimp, and a few kinds of vegetables I believe (like onions, bell peppers and the like). They also have great daily lunch specials, but these can get a little pricey. One time I had their shrimp fettuccine lunch special and although it was very good, it was a little too expensive, especially compared to what other restaurants around the area charge for lunch specials. Overall though, this is a great option for lunch. I have been here quite a few times and will keep returning.

Good prices on food and drinks. They have nice food specials during the week. I especially like their meatloaf. It's in a good location in Downtown Covington and the environment is very relaxed and casual.

As we walked into this place we immediately felt a chill, I thought it was the AC but quickly learned that no, it would be the cold shoulder from every employee. I actually felt like I was bothering the bartender asking for a menu. Then had to basically beg for drinks. Once the food was served had to ask for utensils, OK yes I asked for utensils, wanna guess what I got?? a knife, that was it. Now I did order a burger but there were fries and I tend to like to have a fork. Oh and the burger, while it was asked how I would like it cooked I don't think anyone listened. Wanted med rare and it was about as well done as you could get. Got the bill, paid and was never talked to again. Not thank you, not have a good day, nothing. So if you enjoy rude, non welcoming staff, sub par food then this is the place for you.

You get the best of both worlds! If you like a comfortable bar atmosphere with a wide selection of food (good quality might I add) and drinks, or a good place to hang out and listens to popular bands, well this is it! Also, there is another room added called the Seiler bar. If you like affordable fine dining with exceptional quality then I highly recommend. Excellent wine and liquor selection. Specialty drinks served with crushed ice are a must try (bossmans snowball, Moscow mule, fresh fruit cocktails and martinis etc!) Staff is friendly and work very hard to make your experience memorable and make you a returning patron. It's a New Orleans style setting with artwork featured by covingtons finest! A large patio extends seating as well as makes a perfect place to spend happy hour on a beautiful day :-) Honestly, what one place can you go to that offers all of this?! Menu is always evolving to offer the freshest food for your taste! Check it out hours of operation: 11 till M-F / 12 till on Saturdays! Seiler open for dinner W-F 4 -10 but open for cocktails till 2 am.

This place is a hidden gem. It has two bars one more like the old public bars they used to have in England, this is where they have the stage set up for the groups that perform here. The other bar leads to the patio which is lit at night with fairy lights so feels very continental. The waiter who served our table was very attentive, we all ordered something different so had the range of the Chicken, Drum and Steak all were very tasty and we finished with the bread pudding which was shared by two. The chef finishes at 9pm which works quite well as the bar can become very busy after then as the live music starts at 10pm. I will be back again
