I would have to say that this place deserves a better rating than what others have given it here on Yelp. The menu is a bit of a mash-up of Chinese and Thai dishes, and they also have a buffet during lunch time. I've tried several items off the menu, including tom kha gai, pad see ew, and pad kee mao. The soups are pretty good, and the noodle dishes are alright too. I haven't tried any of the Chinese menu items, mainly because there's a very good Chinese restaurant on the other side of town. I would have to say that overall this place is alright. As others have mentioned here, the dining area isn't necessarily top notch. The food is good, but not particularly amazing. If you try this place out, I'd recommend trying one of the Thai soups; I think that those are the best menu items. The attached market is a nice addition. They carry items like Tiparos brand fish sauce, instant noodles, and curry pastes that you're not going to find anywhere else in Alexandria. If you're craving Thai food and don't want to make the trip to Thadapetch over in Leesville, go ahead and give Bangkok Restaurant a try, it's decent.

Stick with mostly the Thai food on the menu. The Chinese offerings & the buffet are okay but not the standouts. But if you must, get the buffet early if you want it fresh. Great lunch specials here. Twice Cooked Chicken, Beef and Basil with extra peppers, & the Pad Thai are great.

The restaurant was filthy. Menu consist of bad Chinese food and even worse Thai food. Apparently they serve beer, however no one working at the time holds a liquor license therefore they could not serve alcohol.

Yuck. I'm all for supporting family owned businesses, but this was just gross. My wonton soup was cloudy, and had very fatty pork in it. My pad thai was overly salty. My husband's meal wasn't too much better. I left hungry. :(

Eh. Not great. Despite the name, the menu is mostly chinese. A couple of Thai items available, including noodle dishes (Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Pad Kee Mao) and Tom Yum and Tom Kha Gai soups. We ordered Tom Kha Gai and Pad Thai for takeout. The Tom Kha Gai is actually pretty good, spicy with a good amount of chicken. Funny that they serve it with rice though. The Pad Thai is nondescript, presentation is poor and the flavoring is very mild. It tastes like when you make your own pad thai using a kit from the grocery store. If you want Chinese, Oriental Wok is a better option. If you're really craving Thai food, Bangkok will suffice in a pinch, but it's not on my regular rotation of restaurants. The attached grocery is okay, especially considering how hard it is to find asian ethnic items in Alexandria. No fresh food, but lots of packaged and canned spices, ingrediants and desserts. Strange that they sell high quality canned curry pastes, but don't offer any thai curries in the restaurant?
