Panda China Chinese Restaurant

This place does not give the appearance that the food is going to be good. It's dated, small and a little dingy. BUT quality and consistency is delivered every time. I have been going there for maybe 20 years. Even after living in NYC and having Chinese takeout all the time, this place has my favorite fried rice of all. Spring rolls are delish. I know there is another Chinese restaurant that opened a couple years ago in prospect and I tried it to see how much better it was. Hands down, family owned and operated panda china wins.

Small & cozy neighborhood spot for great food. Had chicken, fresh veggie & rice dish for lunch. It was the special for the day. Very tasty!
I had the Chicken salad sandwich and tomatoe basil soup. It was decent. The chicken salad had a lot of mayo. The soup was good but didn't have a lot of flavor. My friends had the Ruben and liked it. Descent food but 4 stars vs. 5.
I could eat the Chicken Salad every day. And everyone in there is always so friendly!

Sometimes you want to support mom n pop businesses and they just don't do a great job. Other times, the little guy nails it - as was the case at Burning Bush. I stopped my for lunch and had one of the better meals I've had in a long time. 1/2 chicken kebab with hummus and eggplant salad for sides (owners' rec'd). Everything was very fresh and full of flavor. Overall value is amazing - can't be a delicious, big lunch for $6.50. I'll be back every time I'm in town.
Been coming to this place for years it's really good the kebabs are absolutely delicious and the good number of wraps are pretty good as well love the fact that the meat comes off the grill
Food is excellent but service is spotty. Young women working register tend to be rude.

Good atmosphere, friendly staff, fantastic food! They have Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese selections on the menu. The food isn't greasy like some places. Although it appears to be roughly the same layout as a takeout cafe, the sit down atmosphere is very nice and the staff is really super friendly without buzzing around too much. Prices are reasonable (2.99 for two pork egg rolls) and the selection is good. I recommend the potstickers for a starter. The dipping sauces are great. Haven't tried the lunch menu yet but I look forward to it.
Very average food. Not impressed. Surprised by all of the positive reviews. Disappointed overall. Nice people but subpar food
Glad to see some diversity coming to Prospect! I think the name is actually L&J Cafe (Asian Cuisine). This newly opened this restaurant is family owned and the attention to detail shows! The decor is nice but the food and service are the best! Their menu has offerings from many Asian cuisines so it will take us a while to try them all. But the most encouraging thing is that we saw many Asians dining there so they must be doing something right! As for us, we went with the Chinese menu and tried the Chicken lettuce wraps (better than P.F. Changs!), Sesame Chicken, MaPo Tofu and Imperial Broccoli. All were very tasty and prepared without suing MSG. We can't wait to go back & try more of their dishes.

Update: They seem to have gotten the policy together regarding subbing out the dipping sauces (which was my only complaint) so I've updated to 5 stars. Excellent egg rolls as well- very light, not greasy like some places.
Been going to Dragon Cafe for years now and have never once been let down. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Orders are always filled within 10 minutes. Best bang for your buck Chinese in Prospect.
Very good takeout! I Highly recommend the house special chow mei fun and crab Rangoon. They will make modifications to almost any dish, just ask! Always quick service within 10 minutes, I only wish they delivered!

My wife and I went here with a "Groupon" on Saturday night, 1/21/12. We had reservations for 7:45, and arrived a couple minutes early, to find a crowd waiting to be seated. My wife looked around at the very open seating, and said it was lacking in ambience. In fact, she wanted to leave and eat elsewhere. I insisted we stay and give it a try, and after 15 minutes, I asked about our table, and found we would be seated next. The hostess was very apologetic, and said they were running behind on reservations. I also heard her tell walk-ins that the wait was around one and a half to two hours. Unlike most restaurants that get busy, she actually seemed embarrassed, rather than dismissive, about the wait. When we were seated, my wife was once again not happy, as there is a table that is basically separated from the wait station by a folding wall, and we were next to a exterior door. However, we found that the overall din in the dining room was enough "white noise" to make the wait station unnoticeable, and the exterior door wasn't drafty, so it wasn't that bad. We asked our waiter to give us a couple minutes to decide on an appetizer, and he disappeared. After about 10 minutes, we started scanning for him, and the manager came over to ask if he could help us. Rather than get another waiter and have us wait again, he just immediately took our app and entree order. He brought our salads a couple minutes later, and had a new waitress take over our table, because the previous waiter was very busy, and he didn't want us to have slow service. We hadn't even complained, all we did was looked around to locate the first guy. While we were waiting for our entrees, the first waiter came by to apologize, and make sure we got our orders in. That surprised me, somewhat. Most servers would just avoid the table for the rest of the night in that situation. The salads were pretty good, the bread was so-so, but I highly recommend the seafood cakes. The mahi mahi and the delmonico steak were both perfectly cooked, and delicious. The steak was maybe just a bit too fatty for my tastes, but not for my wife's. The five cheese baked macaroni I loved, but my wife thought it had too much chili pepper (I like spicy, she doesn't). We had bread pudding for dessert, which was also delicious. Quick take: They are very busy right now, so plan in advance. The staff is all very professional, friendly, and they all seemed happy to be there. The ambiance is not ideal for a romantic dinner, but for a simple night out, it's just fine. And the food is far above average for the price point (around $60 for a meal for two with app, entrees, drinks, and dessert). What started out rocky turned out to be a great meal, with my wife commenting, "I almost missed out on this because I didn't like the tables". The 1-star rating at the time I write this is from someone who got upset because they didn't make reservations at a busy restaurant on a Friday night, and had to wait, and then never even sat down or tried the food. Do yourself a favor and don't do the same thing that reviewer did - you'll miss out.
Noisy and busy but we arrived way early for our reservation and they got us seated in a reasonable amount of time. The bread and garlic butter was absolutely amazing but the salad, sadly, was not cold at all. Our steaks, however, were amazing. One of the best I've ever ate. Ever. Only one stall in the men's room. Not the best considering how busy the place is but understandable given its small size.
Very well priced delicious steak and seafood. My bf had a steak and I had the Mahi Mahi. Both were great and the service was attentive. The atmosphere is nice for a dinner date. Definitely make reservations!

I was taken to this by friends I was visiting. It's one of their favorite spots and I agree. The atmosphere was comfortable and not too noisy. I found it easy to talk and catch up with my friends. I ordered the Hot Brown looking forward to a the traditional style I remember from years ago. The order came and the presentation was very good. I took a first bite and found it to be their interpretation of the original. I found it to be an excellent variation. The difference being in their sauce. It added and new and flavorful change to the original.
Best Part of the meal: Server Shane L. He was very knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu, and the type of fish. When I asked about a substitute, he politely humored me with discouragement. Very attentive. $16 Crab cakes: Very tasty, but the crab flakes were hard to find. Pan fried. Broccoli: Cooked to perfection not too mushy -- Shane said it was cooked in a little olive oil, with a dab of butter. Small side salad consisted of a few airy leaves and 2 slices of cucumber about 1/4" thick. $10 Grilled Chicken Spinach Salad had tasty chicken. Balsam vinegret dressing debatable, depending on your own taste. Complimentary Rolls: Came hard as a rock; had to use 2nd tier muscles or knife to pull them apart. Tasty yeast flavor. Quick Service from 4 to 5 pm
I've been to this location twice for SUNDAY BRUNCH. So good! I've never had to wait for a table which I find odd, and the quality of the food on the buffet is well worth the price. Kids buffet is only $6 and they love choosing from all the options. There are lots of breakfast and lunch options, and the dessert bar is huge. But really I'm writing this review because of THE WAFFLES. OMG. I don't know what kind of wizardry is used to make them, but they're perfectly crisp on the outside and warm and light and soft on the inside. Plus topped with a little warm syrup, whipped cream, and strawberries - TO DIE FOR. Friendly quick service and you'll definitely leave satisfied! Must go.

We just discovered this place last week so we thought we'd give it a try. The Commons seems to be growing quickly. We ordered chicken sandwiches and hamburgers which were quite good. We sat outside since it was a nice day so maybe that's why our service was quite slow. We'll try it again and try sitting inside to see if there is any difference in the service.
While visiting from Cleveland, I love to eat here. The owner is so friendly! Last night, I had the crabcake sliders, which were awesome! Also, try the sweet potato fries! I highly recommend Karen's!
Love this place! I go up their all the time during the summer with friends. I normally get the Boss Burger(fantastic by the way). Sure the service is not the best, but that is the style and setup of the restaurant.

Best pizza I've had in a while! Love love love, was a little sad they didn't have pizza by the slice on Saturday due to them being busy but it was well worth getting the whole pie. So delicious- I will definitely be back! Garlic minis were also delicious, husband has also a calzone there and loved it too.
Pizza is thin and not flavorful. Sauce is bland and watery. Service is slooow. Beer options are lacking. I wish we would have driven to Westport Village and ate at Tony Boombozz - they have a larger selection of specialty pizzas and a much better beer selection.
Great pizza!!! You must try the garlic knots!! Very clean restaurant!! Pizza by the slice if you like!! Great location!

California sushi rolls were rather small. Dim sum were the frozen-from-a-box type that would you buy from any Asian grocery store and cook at home. Sashimi slices were generous but that might have been because it them so long to bring my order out. By then the rest of family was already finished and were ready to leave. Lobster specialty roll was good. There are better sushi places in the East Louisville area.
Been here a few times and sushi was great each time. The prices were a little high but in sushi you get what you pay for. Service was good. The night I came there was a chef shortage for the hibachi. The owners kept telling us the delay was due to an employee who showed up to work intoxicated. I thought the reason for the chef shortage was irrelevant.
Great sushi. Portions great. Atmosphere wonderful.
