I love Wasabi! The best sushi you can get in Owensboro, which I get isn't saying too terribly much, but the quality and taste is great. I've only gotten the Hibachi once, and I wasn't impressed with taste, but the portions and price were definitely generous. So, back to the sushi... LOVE their plain sushi rolls such as the spicy tuna, Philadelphia, and Miami rolls. Just your typical rolls with rice, seaweed, raw fish, and some kind of filler such as avocado or cream cheese. These rolls are always fresh and delicious, and they range from $3-6, which is super affordable. I've also gotten several of the special rolls and those are also fresh and affordable. I enjoy eating in the restaurant, and the service is always quick and friendly. However, for nights when we feel like grabbing "fast food" Wasabi will take call-ahead orders and you can pick your order up in their drive-thru. So convenient!

Don't know how to do a half star rating so mad its not funny ordered appetizers and then the food. the food came out all of it including the soup the salad and the sushi! gave me the ticket about 5 mins into the meal. disgusting I felt like they wanted us to hurry up and get out guess my business is neither wanted nor needed.

I went here on the recommendation of the reviews here on Yelp. The sushi was great, even though it did take a while. I had the San Francisco roll, which is basically a California Roll with shrimp on the top. I was impressed with the roll, which, unfortunately, was the last good thing about my meal. My sushi had barely been delivered when my hibachi meal arrived. When I asked the waiter about the salad that was supposed to come with the meal, I got a response of, "I forgot that and the soup...sorry". The hibachi meal itself was uninspiring. The noodles were greasy, and the vegetables has been overcooked to death. By far the worse part was the shrimp still had the black line going down the back. How hard is it to clean shrimp?!?! The plate itself was swimming in sauce that was pretty sweet and gross. Needless to say, I left over half of it. My waiter then brought me salad in a to go container to make up for what he forgot. The lettuce was wilted and brown and obviously came from a salad bag. When I received the bill, the waiter "forgot" to take the 50% off for the sushi. While the sushi was good, I think I'll "forget" to go back.

Not bad for Owensboro. Some of our rolls fell apart as we tried to eat them but most held together well and were tasty. There's a good variety of choices so everyone should be able to find something to try. We asked for some lower sodium soy sauce but were told that they didn't have any because of a price increase. Some tables still had the green-topped Kikoman bottles. We were told they just had regular soy sauce in them. Not cool.

The selction of sushi was great with a lot of unique rolls and traditional types with many different fish. Its neat that they have a full liquor menu. Service was great, comfortable and casual atmosphere and good price. I am a Japanese and am pretty strict on Japanese restaurants, but I will give Wasabi Express a thumbs up!

Brand new sushi spot in Owensboro. I have to admit I was very skeptical at first I went for lunch not expecting anything special, however the sushi was cold and fresh, and the service was great. I'll be going here for dinner soon. I only had the sushi, but will be trying the hibachi as well. You need to try this place.

This place would've received 5 stars had it not been for the incredibly rude hostesses and hosts standing by the door. We walked in and there was no one in front of us but the host and hostesses just kept talking to each other and completely ignoring us, we weren't welcomed or anything. Finally we were seated reluctantly. When we got to our table, thankfully everything changed. The waitress, Stephanie, was amazing! She was so friendly and kind! She never hesitated to bring whatever we asked for. The food was quick to our table and it was delicious! I really love the sushi here. The king salmon roll is a wonderful roll! I also had the vegetable spring rolls, also delicious. Thank you, Stephanie and thank you to the chefs for turning this visit around. I only wish I could give you 5 stars, Wasabi, but it seems you need to train SOME of your staff better.

For the price, this is probably the best sushi in Owensboro. I know that is saying a lot. That statement doesn't take into account the new Lure seafood place downtown as I haven't tried it yet. The restaurant is located at the end of a strip mall, in front a Walmart, in the same location that a Subway used to be. The owners have used creative methods to make the place look upscale. If you look hard though, you see the booths are made from 2X6s and covered with faux leather and ceramic floor tile for the table tops. It's a much better look than some of the other Asian places in town (ie Tokyo). The staff at Wasabi Express are always friendly and fast. They check on you often but not intrusive. I've never had a bad service experience here. They will always accommodate special orders when they can. They are known for their "Half Price Sushi All Day" which to me is a little gimmicky and annoying. I get that you're showing it a deal, but I just get frustrated that I have to do simple math to get the price of the roll. The sushi prices are good though, rolls from $4ish to $12.95, or $2ish to $6.475. They also have a lunch menu with some nice deals, $4.99 for a large plate of fried rice is nice to share. Overall, this place is great to get a good deal on some sushi and not feel like you'd get food poisoning from it. I've never ate a roll that didn't taste fresh or fishy. Owensboro's sushi fix is right here.

This is the Express Line! In a hurry? Want great Japanese Food Quick? Love Sushi? You can be seated in a private booth, open dining area, or group table. Your choice. There is a small bar. Great Drink Menu. Food is SWIFT, FRESH & Delicious. No Fancy dishes or tea kettles, just great Sushi & Sashimi, and Generously portioned Japanese Meals! All the Sushi & Sashimi are ALWAYS half off the retail price! SERVICE IS EXCELLENT! I WILL be back the next time I'm in Owensboro! Hints: This place is GREAT if you're in a rush, on lunch break, etc. This is NOT, the place to go for a quiet, romantic, drawn out meal. ENJOY!! Chef Gary Curry

I agree with Beth P. It's not really saying anything to compliment the sushi in Owensboro. Once again, the food is okay but I have had better. Once again. it's really the service that earns Wasabi the low score. The servers don't offer you their entire attention much less any eye contact. My charming companion and I prefer low-sodium soy sauce. I didn't see the green cap on our table so I asked for it. In the course of the exchange with the server I get the impression they put regular soy sauce in both containers which causes me to question: Why bother with the lie? Just say you don't offer it. I'd rather be disappointed than lied on.

Best place in Owensboro to get sushi. Nice atmosphere, friendly service & reasonable prices. The sushi is always fresh with new specials & rolls added often.

I shouldn't have expected authentic Japanese from a place named Wasabi Express, but I at least hoped for something a little interesting. Every dish tasted the same. The fried rice bowl was literally just rice, no vegetables and tiny bits of chicken. The seaweed salad was served on a bed of bagged iceberg salad mix. I wouldn't trust sushi from this place, personally (didn't try it as I'm 3 months pregnant). I won't be going back.

Wasabi is one of the better Japanese restaurants in town. Their sushi is phenomenal as are just the basic hibachi items - go for the hibachi steak, it's cooked to order. Along with big servings, share some mushrooms with the rest of the table - they do not disappoint.

Ran into Owensboro for the evening and asked Dude at Best Buy where we ought to have dinner. We were looking for Thai, but he suggested this place. From the parking lot, it looked like your run-of-the-mill, generic Asian take-out joint, but when we stepped inside, it was like, "Whoa! All right..." There's a full bar (which was bartenderless on New Year's Day, but where I usually prefer to sit), a staffed sushi bar, high-back, black, wooden booths, and ADA-friendly tables. You can tell they've put a lot of love and work into the décor, which is fresh, sharp and clean. Our server Nick was polite, chilled out, friendly, and right on top of everything. We told him from the beginning that we weren't in any hurry, and he refrained from making us feel like we should be. We both ordered beers, a Sapporo and Kirin. I was bummed not to find Tsingtao, but it's Kentucky, and I'm pretty much just happy to get something other than a Bud or Miller product. I started out with the seaweed salad, and my friend took the miso soup. I will say, first time I've ever been served seaweed salad on top of iceberg lettuce, but I simply didn't eat the iceberg lettuce, so it was great :) My friend said the miso soup wasn't the best he'd ever had in his life, but it was still tasty. We moved on to some sushi, octopus nigiri and bloody mary. Both were fantastic, and neither rolls "fell apart as we tried to eat them." Then again, we're both pretty skilled with chop sticks, and maybe previous customers (who tried to get "lower sodium soy sauce" at an Asian joint????) weren't... but I digress :) They were delicious! My friend suggested we get the "Dinner for Two," due to the awesome price for the amount of food, so we went with the steak and scallops. Honestly, we ended up with shrimp and scallops, but, hey! It was New Year's Day, so our server probably had a long shift, and it was pretty loud in there due to the crowd, so maybe he just misheard us. At any rate, we decided to just eat what we'd received, and it was great. Granted, I ended up having to take mine home, since we'd pretty much already had a full meal at that point, but it held up well for leftovers, which is always a plus. Moral of the story: Don't judge a book by its cover. Check inside this place. It's good.

Top-notch sushi 1/2 off every day! Unbelievable value and every roll was carefully prepared, in terms of presentation, fish portions, and proper seasonings in the sauces. One of the best sushi places I've ever visited; the owner is great.

Came here recently, about a week ago and was disappointed with the cleanliness and presentation of the food. Our seaweed salad came to the table with strings of seaweed hanging over the side of the bowls and fell on the table when it was transferred from carrying platter. The dish was further "cheapened" by the large amount of lettuce that it was served on top of. And my roll looked great when placed in front of me, but it fell APART as soon as I tried to grasp it with my chopsticks. An experienced sushi chef can roll and "tighten" a sushi roll with ease so the fillings don't fall out.

We eat lunch here a lot for work, it is fast, good, and great prices. Not a local so I still don't get the attraction here to the Yum Yum Sauce. Have not had the sushi yet just the grill, but looks like we will give it a try one night.
