Perfect on a hot day! A friend and I were walking around Newport to kill some time and decided to stop in for some ice cream. Fast and friendly service. This Cold Stone is in the perfect location.

I really really liked the "founders favorite", it's of course a real calorie bomb but hey, you knew that walking in, right? I like how they make the specialty ice creams from zero in the store. I got a gift card for this creamery, otherwise I wouldn't have tried it, but now I'm kind of glad I did!

If you asked me 5 months ago before I experienced the taste of Graeters and Aglamesi's Brothers, I would have told you that Cold Stone was the freaking shizzle unless you were going to go all hoity-toity. But... I've been spoiled by Cincinnati Ice Cream amazingness... and Cold Stone just doesn't work for me. When I first tried the cake batter ice cream, I fell in love with it and asked the girl working there to mix it with whatever she thought would be good. She put in cake bites & peanut butter cup pieces and it was SO freaking good--for the first 5 bites or so. After that initial sugar high, everything's just sweet and... greasy? Ugh even writing about it right now makes me feel sick. tl;dr not worth getting diabetes for.

I want to believe it's just a fluke, but every time I've been here, the clerks have been so dang rude! Including the time I went just a couple days ago. I had a coupon and the clerk rolled her eyes while sighing very heavily, and I still don't understand why. I just wanted her to know ahead of time. Maybe I won't use coupons anymore? The ice cream, though, is delicious, and that's the ONLY reason to return.

What's not to love about ice cream seriously? Though I'm an avid fan of Graeter's ice cream, we were in the area so of course I cashed in on a major calorie splurge. First off, the smells are amazing, and they offer so much more than what they used to. Sundaes, smoothies they even had cobbler! They have really unique flavors too. When we were there I tried the salty caramel and Oreo creme filling. The staff were very very friendly, I totally could've tried more, per them but I didn't. Super yum though, I settled on a delicious fudgey brownie sundae and it did not disappoint. They even offered up a to go carton to try to help me sneak it in the theater which I think is nothing short of AWESOME. Keep it up, you're doing things right.

I love Cold Stone anywhere -- being able to completely customize my ice cream experience is always a good time. We stopped in here after lunch on a hot day... such a welcome and refreshing treat! The line moved quick and the ice cream was delicious, as always!

LOVE this place! I try to stop every time I'm in newport. It's basically a create your own ice cream place, what's not to love? I usually stick with the cake batter ice cream and mix in some peanut butter cups or sprinkles, the combinations are practically endless! The portions are HUGE and I usually share mine.

Cold Stone as a company is good. Damn good, in fact. This location, by Cold Stone standards, is simply "just okay" in my book. The way the queuing works is pretty awful, and the appearance of the ice cream when they hand it to you is just plain messy. Other Cold Stone locations I've been to have a much neater, not-drippy way of scooping the mixed-up concoction into the cups... while Newport's just doesn't have that skill, I suppose. This doesn't stop me from going here though! If you need ice cream while at Newport on the Levee, this is your only option, and it's not too shabby.

What happened to the show? I remember when this place first opened the staff literally put on a show for the customers. This time... nothing. Suggestion one... get a small. A medium is HUGE! I got a medium and it was too much. Next - I got my ice cream and felt compelled to get some yummy stuff in it. I decided on Reese Cups. The dude threw one on top of the ice cream and asked if that was enough! I suppose asking before adding too much is a good thing, but when he asked after only plopping one on top I felt like asking for more was asking too much. I asked him to add one more. It was tasty, but if I'm getting "toppings" i want TOPPINGS! I didn't pay so I can't say whether it was it was reasonably priced. It was a LOT of ice cream, but did it cost as much as a pint of Graeter's? If so then it was NOT worth it. I'll have to pay closer attention if we ever return. Overall, not a big fan.

When in doubt ask to try some samples which helps you narrow down what you would like. I have had many of the signature creations before and am a fan. I tried the cookies and cream shake and oh my goodness, I am loving it. Or should I say gotta have it. I find that even though the ice cream is great, the shakes are excellent. I find that I want to have more of it compared to the ice cream which is great for Cold Stone, but bad for my figure. I guess in moderation. But this is a good place to grab some ice cream before or after your movie. I have also come here after walking 2.5 miles as a pick me up for the 2.5 mile walk back. Of course not the healthiest of choices but can you really say anything here is healthy?!?!?

My only advice to you: get the Churro Caramel Crave (see pic). This is what it'll cost ya: 1. A 4 minute wait for it to be prepared (they have to heat the churros up in the microwave.) 2. $4.99. 3. Oh, and lord only knows how many calories, but hey, if you were really concerned about calories you wouldn't have come to a Cold Stone in the first place right? Right.

I love the idea of coldstone. I love it. It's great that you get to pick the ice cream and mix-ins. It's actually pretty good ice cream, especially the mint and banana. All the cute little ideas they give you are actually pretty good, like whatever the birthday cake one is. Things I hate about Coldstone: The names. The names! WHY? I don't wanna order a "Like It" or a "Love it" and I want to deck you when you correct my medium/small. The fact they don't really clean those stones they mix on. Ever. And my husband has an allergic reaction everytime. Even though we tell them to clean it. And yeah, I might have some bitterness because it means we stop whatever we are doing to drive to a CVS and get the medicine to fix it. Clean the stones, fix my issue. They SING when you tip them. Ugh. My first memory was my brother in law holding the money and saying "I will tip you NOT to sing. If you sing, I'll fish this back out." I get it's from corporate and you have to do it, but I purposefully put a lot of effort towards giving my tip when the workers are not looking. Back to not cleaning the stone. Ever had mint with a gummy bear? Gross. Overall, the sizing is huge, the ice cream is okay, but I still think we have way too many better local ice cream parlors to visit.

Oh Cold Stone. i love it. Of course my waistline and wallet screams at me to consume in moderation. So this is a super special treat for me. Well i have been to several of these places throughout Ohio and each one feels the same. Young kid behind the counter goofying off making mininum wage, a line at the register, and yummy ice cream behind the counter. The flavors are always amazing and most likely the same every time you go in. It has been months since I have been so I was over joyed when I taste tested the Oreo Filling Icecream. oh it was so good. the kids were super patient and let me try every flavor before I picked the one i already knew I was getting (yes I am one of those). And then we came back after they closed to get a lid for the icecream and they willingly unlocked thier doors to help us. Never diappointed in Cold Stone

Cold Stone has some really tasty ice cream flavors with huge variety of add-ins sure to please even the most discerning ice cream connoisseur. I really love their Sinless Sans Fat variety of non-fat, no sugar added ice cream. Though I was skeptical at first, just one bite of this guilt-free dessert made me thrill. I thought, "There's NO WAY this can be fat-free. It tastes too good!" I also love Cold Stone's smoothies, but their marketing department does a little bit of trickery that has really annoyed me. When I go to the store, I see a lovely ad for a fruit smoothie (see picture), one that is not made with dairy products. Then when I order the drink, I get a creamy fruity milkshake type drink. See the drinks in the pictures are made with sorbet, not smoothie mixture (how's one to know this?). So the first time this occurred, I sent back the drink and they re-made it. The second time I drank it (good, but not what I wanted), because I felt I should have known better. I'll return to Cold Stone--I'll just ask more questions before I order.

I love ice cream. Oh, do I loooove ice cream. But I don't love out-of-this-world, insanely, this-is-completely-asinine over-priced ice cream. I don't care how good your ice cream tastes. I don't care how many flavors you offer. I don't care how many toppings or add-ins or extras or whatever you call 'em you have. I don't care how fresh your ingredients are. I don't care that you beat up the ice cream with two metal do-hicky thing-a-ma-bobs on a marble slab. I don't care that you give me a little song when I throw in a tip. The fact that feeding one of those starving kids from Africa that you see on those late-night commercials is about how much it costs for me to get ice cream for me, my wife and our four kids from your establishment...well that's just stupid ridiculous. Cold Stone Creamery has great tasting ice cream. But guess what? You can get ice cream that is just as good (and in some cases even better) someplace else for so much less. Mahalo, and avoid.

This place makes me sick every time! Not sure if it is just too sweet or what but my stomach which normally welcomes all frozen treats is not friends with Cold Stone.

Visited this location on 10/17/13 to grab some ice cream. I walked in and was looking at the menu, while I was looking over the menu the employee on duty was staring at me with headphones on. I said hello trying to make conversation to see if he would at least offer to assist me with such a large selection and got no response. Needless to say I decided to go with a Strawberry Banana smoothie. I placed my order and the guy walks to the back and quickly walks out and said " can you pick something else cuz I ain't got no more ice to make no smoothies"! And then he had the nerve to have A smirk on his face when he said this! I then looked over the menu once again and decided not to make a purchase because I wasn't able to get what I had wanted. I think they shouldn't allow headphones for employees who have to interact with people often throughout the day. Also, I think they should stock up on ICE! It was roughly 2:00 pm when I arrived at the store definitely not closing time!

Cold Stone is a unique ice cream store located on the outside section of Newport on the levee. It's right above the entrance to the parking garage so if you park downstairs chances are you'll walk by it on your way in or out and get a hankering for ice cream. I wonder if they did that on purpose! There are two entrances, two lines, and two cash registers. They both meet in the middle at the beginning and then branch off. This allows them to deal with the sheer volume of the levee. They have many good base flavors, my favorite is the butter cream, and then you select lots of mix ins that they hand mix into your flavor. Then you can get cones, cups, or waffle cones or bowls to stick it into. Then you go to the cash register and give them an arm and a leg for one bowl of dairy. I don't like how expensive they are, but hey, people are paying it so it won't change!

This is another popular choice at the Levee for a cold treat on a hot day or an after-dinner treat. It's also heard to resist the smell of those sweet waffle cones! The ice cream and mix-ins are excellent, although you pay for the quality and labor. It's fun to watch the process, though. I like any combination of chocolate and peanut butter!

I like to tip. I don't like getting serenaded because of it. To anyone who hasn't visited a Cold stone Creamery location...visitors choose their ice-cream flavor (go for the cream or Dark Chocolate), then choose their "mix-ins", toppings that are actually mixed into ice-cream by an employee using a cold marble slab. It is a little more laborious than a traditional ice-cream place so I generally drop a dollar in the tip jar after I've received my dairy concoction. The staff is all high-energy and is instructed to sing some kind of strange little "Thank you" ditty every time someone puts cash into the tip jar. I guess it's a cute idea in theory and I remember the first time it happened thinking it was kinda cool, but not anymore. I have learned to pay, tip, and RUN out of the store. I usually hear the beginning strains of the song as the door is slamming behind me. Maybe I'm weird, but I don't like being the center of attention for dropping a buck in a jar. Other than the tipping issue, Cold Stone is delicious. The ice cream place has quite a few tried-and-true combinations of ice cream flavors and mix-ins to choose from for those who are indecisive. I'm a big fan of the Strawberry Short Cake flavor, which includes the Sweet Cream ice-cream, hunks of pound cake, strawberries, and graham crackers. Yum! When I'm in the mood to come up with my own flavor, I go with Dark Chocolate Ice Cream, Strawberries, and extra chocolate chips for good measure.
