Staying in Middlesboro for the wife's family reunion, you know the story, late, looking for food, tired. Ran across Pizza Plus on Yelp. Oh man! 20-25 minute delivery and you are kicked back chewing down on an awesome pie! I eat a lot of pizza, and yes I am usually calling it in from the hotel. You don't want to drive to find supper when you have already put 6-8 even 12 hours on the road! Quick delivery, TASTY, and really friendly staff taking the order, and delivering. Great value as well. By far the best pizza I've ordered out on the road, and they are way up at the top of the best I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Big thanks for coming through at the last minute! if the Warden will allow it, will be ordering another tomorrow night! Five Stars without any second guess.

Cumberland Manor Bed & Breakfast

208 Arthur Hts
Middlesboro, 40965
Reviews:
Jill is the most gracious host you'll find anywhere and the mansion is absolutely gorgeous! Jill cooks an amazing breakfast and you won't regret staying at the Cumberland Manor B&B one bit. The home was built in the late 1890s but is extremely comfortable and all her furniture is antique so it really feels like you're stepping back in time. Jill does a great job decorating as well and is extremely courteous in accommodating your needs. Wifi is included and extremely fast so you'll have no problem staying connected. They also have a parking driveway that has room for 7-8 cars. Whether you're in town for business, pleasure, or just passing through, a stay at the Cumberland Manor is a must!
We had a wonderful stay at Cumberland Manor. The hosts were wonderful and Jill was a font of information about things we shouldn't miss in Cumberland Gap Park. Our bed and room, the Washington room, were very comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding. The porch was a great place to sit in the evening and drink a beer. Our only regret is that we didn't know how much we'd enjoy our stay in Middlesboro and we'd only planned for a one night stay ... don't make this same mistake while planning your visit.
We visited at the end of August 2013. Jill (our hostess) made sure we felt right at home. She always made sure we know where coffee or muffins were, she made us delicious breakfasts, told us about Middlesboro history, and generally made us feel very welcome. We stayed at the blue room in the attic (Kennedy Room) and loved its size, feel, brightness. There is this cute little black and white doggy that lives in a house next door, and it follows you when you go for a walk. :) Great place to visit!

Reviews:
The staff here were absolutely lovely; they were so friendly and helpful. The interior was also very adorable with many murals and a homey ambiance. The food was also delicious. I had the chicken fajita quesadilla, and it was very flavorful and huge! I took 2/3 of it home for later! I loved it.
If you want something great, try the Pelanchos dip...I could eat just that and be happy. Everyone there is friendly and seem to enjoy their job. Out of all the Mexican restaurants in the area, I would say this is the best...just because of that dip.
Good service, complimentary tasty salsa and warm chips. We both had the vegetarian chimichanga platter which came with rice, salad with pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. Very filling and good. We will come back when visiting my daughter. It's a good place to go to amid the fast food choices here. The interior and brightly painted wooden furniture give a festive feel.

Shades of Brown

2119 Cumberland Ave
Middlesboro, 40965
Reviews:
Shades of Brown offers a great selection of fresh salads and sandwiches in addition to various specialty coffee drinks, which is definitely a nice change from many of the fastfood chain restaurants that are nearby! While I was only in the area for a few days, I found this place to be a perfect place for some reading while enjoying a quick and easy meal. There is a ton of open tables and space for customers to chat with friends or do some work over a meal. Wifi is available to customers and there's even a larger conference room and quiet study room in the back for people to work in! In terms of the menu, I was pretty impressed with the selection of coffee drinks available. As a fan of iced coffee blend drinks, I was happy to find out that Shades of Brown offers a variety of options - a nice find that isn't your usual Starbucks beverage. I got a caramel-mocha ice blend, which wasn't bad, but definitely too sweet for me. The menu offers salads and sandwiches that come in reasonable portions - I was definitely quite full after dinner! The salad was huge and the sandwich was pretty good! The panini I ordered came with mushrooms, avocado, and roasted red peppers - all for no additional charge! Definitely delicious. For people looking for a healthier option in the area that welcomes locals with a nice casual atmosphere, this place is a perfect place to check out.
Shades of Brown is simply a breathe of fresh air in an area that is over run with fast food chains and buffets. I love going here for the specialty coffees and for the casual food menu. It's a great place to read a book or meet friends.
Just in town for a few days the guy at the front desk at the Holiday Inn Exp recommended Shades. We saw a cafe and thought this couldn't the Steak House when we walked in there were just a couple of people and it looked like a quaint little coffee shop. The place was surrounded by cars this couldn't be what we are looking for. The guy behind the counter asked if we were there for supper and we answered yes. He said just wait a few minutes and someone will be out. Shortly a guy came from the back and escorted us to a table. What a pleasant surprise the steak was great and so was desert. What an unusual place. We will go back. It was excellent all the way around.

It's literally the first restaurant you see after passing through the Cumberland gap into Kentucky. The all you can eat buffet is totally worth $8. Is it really 4 stars? Not if it wasn't in Kentucky!

Dairy Queen

100 N 12th St
Middlesboro, 40965
Reviews:
This is the ONLY Dairy Queen I've ever been to that has the butterscotch dipped ice cream cone. I'm in love with that butterscotch. lol But I've never found it elsewhere. So this location gets a thumbs up from me! I've never eaten much of their food, however. I do know they've do a remodeling in the past few years and its very different from when I grew up eating there. They used to have this big map of the area under glass in there (almost like a table/bar) that you could look at, but that's been long gone. :(
It's hard to screw up a DQ cone, but it can be done. I love DQ and have sampled soft-serve in many locales with very consistent servings. Properly served, a DQ cone offers a visually pleasing coneful of ice cream that is firm enough to hold its shape but soft enough to allow for the signature flip at the top. Tonight's cone was extruded with no shape and was somewhat runny, almost watery. I don't think the ice cream was sufficiently mixed.

New King Buffet

1861 N 25th St
Middlesboro, 40965
Reviews:
I love kings buffet, My family eats there very often. The food is always fresh and the service is good. They also have crab legs Fridays and Saturdays for dinner. It is just called "kings buffet" though, it is not "new kings buffet". They have a raw bar with a grill where they will cook your food right infront of you, several isles of cooked food, and a good dessert bar as well.It is decorated very nice, and always seems clean. I would definately recommend, it is very good!
My boyfriend wanted to eat here on a Sunday after church. I didn't tell him, but it doesn't compare well with other Chinese buffets I've visited. The food is not fresh and too much is fried or over processed. I found enough to satisfy by picking broccoli out of the Chicken & Broccoli, eating Butter Shrimp, Steamed Dumplings, mushrooms, watermelon and noodles. But I wouldn't go back. Boyfriend loaded up, though, and also had a hibachi dish prepared. It looked just ok. Service was good. It's likely that, once the booths are full, you will have to sit at a table with strangers.
I give this place a solid "Meh." Nothing to write home about. They do have crab legs but they weren't great. Most of the food was overdone and chewy. Good selection of fish and seafood though. Lots of variety is a plus.

I love this place! I am not a resident of Middlesboro but my Papaw, Preacher Money, is and whenever I visit and I am sure to stop here for dinner once or twice! Shelby is the best server ever always attentive and the nicest lady ever! This place has the most delicious rolls on the planet!!! The honey spread is so scrumptious! Also be sure to save room for the dessert bar! Great service, yummy food and an amazing price!!!
This is a restaurant that has set very low standards and failed to achieve any of them. The freshly prepared piece of sirloin steak was tasty but thinly cut. The selections of hot food on the buffet were only lukewarm and gave the appearance of having been left over from previous days. The salad offerings were simple and fresh. The desserts offered were dry and tasteless. A strawberry shortcake consisted of a cake the size of a small cookie, a single processed strawberry, all covered in strawberry flavored syrup, with a marble sized dollop of non-dairy topping. Other cakes were of similar size.
This place needs a lot of improvement. The food is absolutely awful. Although the people are kind, it in no way makes up for the sub-par food or the lack of cleanliness. I hope they'll make some changes to save this business but I doubt it as it has suffered for years.
